DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE 75 MPH WHEN THE HILLSIDE ASSIST LIGHT TURNED ON THE DASH ALONG WITH OTHER WARNING LIGHTS AND IMMEDIATELY LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE REQUIRING A PULL OFF TO SHOULDER. SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEM, ACCELERATED BACK TO SPEED AND WITHIN A FEW MILES THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND LOST ALL POWER. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE A LOCAL FORD DEALER. WHILE WAITING AT THE DEALER I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE ATTRIBUTED TO A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY (SEE ATTACHED SCREENSHOT). AFTER BRINGING UP THE FREQUENCY OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THERE IS A TSB FROM FORD BUT NO ECONOMIC RELIEF FOR THE $675 BILL SINCE THERE WAS NOT A RECALL. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOT A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I RESPONDED THAT DRIVING 75MPH ON A BUSY URBAN INTERSTATE, LOSING ALL POWER, AND BEING FORCED TO FIND A SHOULDER IMMEDIATELY IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS ONE FRANTICALLY TRIES TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING AND SEARCHING FOR A WAY OUT OF TRAFFIC.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT MULTIPLE SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL SEEM LOCKED AND WOULD NOT TURN UNTIL I WOULD RELEASE PRESSURE FROM THE CURRENT POSITION AND THEN ATTEMPT TO TURN THE WHEEL AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, ON AND OFF THE HIGHWAY AND AT ALL SPEEDS.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 F150, TOWING A TRAILER OF AROUND 7000 LBS. ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY TRUCK SAID 'LOW BRAKE FLUID' AND THE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT FORD RECALLED IN THE 13-14 MODELS. THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKS INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, LEAVING NO TRACE OF LEAKING BRAKE FLUID, AND THEREFORE YOU WILL NOT KNOW UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE BACK OVER PREVENTION CAMERA WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT TIMES THE CAMERA WAS BLANK OR THE IMAGE WAS DISTORTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WAREHAM FORD, INC (2628 CRANBERRY HWY, WAREHAM, MA 02571, (888) 295-6995) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAMERA NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WAREHAM FORD WHO STATED HE NEEDED A NEW CAMERA AND THE COST WOULD BE $1,000. *TR
THE REMOTE START WAS ON FOR 5 MINUTES, WE GOT IN THE CAR AND THE ENTIRE BACK WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERRING. THERE WAS NO PRIOR DAMAGE TO THE BACK WINDSHIELD, NO ISSUES EVER. WE LOOKED ON THE OUTSIDE AND IT WAS SHATTERING FROM THE EDGES AND SLOWLY STARTED CRACKING TO PIECES BEFORE OUR EYES. IF WE WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT.
FOR YEARS FORD HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE HEAT/AC IN THEIR PICKUPS. THE HEAT WILL STOP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND WILL BLOW NOTHING BUT COLD AIR. THIS IS THE SECOND F-150 THAT I HAVE HAD WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR. INSTEAD OF FORD CORRECTING THE PROBLEM BY DESIGNING A NEW ACTUATOR, THEY CONTINUE TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART WITH THE SAME PART THAT WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR OLDER PEOPLE OR THOSE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE VARIOUS INTERNET HELP PAGES. FORD IS MAKING A LOT OF MONEY REPLACING THIS SECOND RATE PART BECAUSE THE COMPLETE DASH HAS TO BE REMOVED JUST TO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND SOME, SUCH AS ME, CANNOT AFFORD TP PAY SOMEWHERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF $1,000 FOR THIS REPAIR JUST TO HAVE THE NEW PART FAIL.
THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. WE WERE GOING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN ONE OF THE PASSING LANES AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH THEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING POWER WAS LOST. ON THE DISPLAY TRAC STABILITY CAME ON THEN CYCLED THRU HILL ASSIST AND SEVERAL OTHERS. I DRIFTED OF THE ROAD JUST PAST A EXIT. THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS MISSING TERRIBLY AS IT CYCLING THRU THESE ERRORS. I SHUT IT DOWN AND RESTARTED IT SEEMED OK, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON, WHEN I TRIED TO MOVE IT STARTED TO SHAKE AND CYCLE ERRORS AGAIN. I SHUT IT DOWN AGAIN AND RESTARTED THIS TIME IT WAS RUNNING OK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND WE DROVE WITH THECHECK EGINE LIGHT FOR APPROXIMATELY 400 MILES STOPPING AND SHUTING OFF ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES.LIGHT STILL ON. STOPPED FOR 1 HOUR TO EAT WHEN RESTARTING NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND HAS BEEN WORKING AS NORMAL TODAY.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TODAY BEING MINDFUL OF THE SPEED LIMIT SINCE I JUST GOT A SPEEDING TICKET TWO WEEKS PRIOR. I LOOKED AT THE SPEEDOMETER AND IT READ 62. I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE I SPEED VARIATION JUST FROM DRIVER FEELING AND EXPERIENCE. WELL I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT MOVE. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER WAS FROZEN AT 40 MPH. SO NOW ACCORDING TO THE TRUCKS BRAIN 40 MPH = 0 MPH
VEHICLE ACCELERATED OF ITS OWN ACCORD DRIVING STRAIGHT ON HIGHWAY. TOOK TO DEALER (VILLAGE FORD, OCALA, FL), THEY RAN BLACK BOX AND DID WARRANTY WORK. A FEW WEEKS LATER, VEHICLE ACCELERATED AGAIN OF ITS OWN ACCORD WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. VEHICLE COLLIDED INTO A TREE.
ON 10/18/19 AT 7:20 AM I STARTED MY 2015 F150 WITH 27K MILES VIA THE AUTOSTART SYSTEM AS THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 35F AND THERE WAS FRONT ON THE GLASS. MY TRUCK WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY, FACING NORTH TOWARDS THE STREET. WHEN I APPROACHED MY TRUCK AFTER IN N FOR UNDER 5 MINUTES I COULD SMELL A BURNING ODOR. I OPENED THE TRUCK AND THE SMELL WAS STRONGER. WHEN I LOOK AROUND I SAW THAT THE REAR WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED WITH A HOLE WHERE A SECTION FELL INTO THE BED. I CONTACTED MY FORD DEALER AND THE SERVICE TECH STATED HE NEVER HEARD OF THIS AND THEY COULD REPLACE IT FOR APPROX. $1400.00.

TRUCK HIT A UTILITY POLE IN THE MEDIAN WHILE TRAVELING WEST ON BARBARA JORDAN BLVD AT LANCASTER DR. IT SPUN AROUND, AND LANDED ON THE EAST BOUND SIDE OF BARBARA JORDAN BLVD AT LANCASTER DR. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED.
WITH NO NOTICE OR WARNING WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY PULLING HORSE TRAILER AT 65 MPH ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND WOULD NOT RESTART. HILL ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH SKID ANTI-SWAY MOTION AND A WRENCH APPEARED IN THE INDICATOR LIGHT. STEERING WHEEL BECAME HARD TO MOVE. HAD TO CROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO SIDE OF ROAD IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WHILE GOING UPHILL TOWING A HORSE TRAILER EVENTUALLY RESTARTED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 134,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER MIDDLE BRAKE LIGHT LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF THE REAR WINDOW HAD STARTED TO MELT DUE TO THE BULB OVERHEATING INSIDE THE BRAKE LIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLINER HAD BEEN DAMAGED DUE TO THE MELTING BRAKE LIGHT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO KENNY ROSS FORD(104 BLACK HILL RD, ADAMSBURG, PA 15611) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD ONLY REPLACE THE LIGHT BULB WITH THE SAME TYPE OF LIGHTBULB THAT WAS ORIGINALLY PLACED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHERE THEY GAVE HER A CASE NUMBER, THEY OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000.
A PIECE WITHIN THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM MAY FAIL AFTER EXPOSURE TO EXTREME TEMPERATURES. IF THIS HAPPENS, A VEHICLE'S DOORS MAY NOT CLOSE PROPERLY OR THEY MAY OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED UNDER TWO PRIOR RECALLS, BUT FORD SAYS NOT ALL FAULTY DOOR LATCHES HAVE BEEN PROPERLY REPAIRED OR REPLACED. RECALL WAS DONE HOWEVER PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. REPLACED DOOR ACTUATOR ON PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND NOW DRIVER DOOR HAS ISSUE. *TR
THE VCT SOLENOID HAS BEEN LISTED AS A PROBLEM ON A LARGE NUMBER OF FORD ENGINES BUT FORD WILL NOT RECALL. THE ISSUE CAUSES THE ENGINE TO DROP IN IDLE AND STALL. MY MECHANIC SAID HE HAS CHANGED HUNDREDS IN FORD ENGINES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN A VEHICLE STALLS WITHOUT WANING
WHILE ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE TO GET TO 55 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST THROTTLE RESPONSE AND BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH. SIMULTANEOUSLY THE DASH FLASHED THAT UPHILL ASSIST WAS DEACTIVATED AND FLASHED THE MAINTENANCE WRENCH. UPON PULLING THE VEHICLE OVER AND SHUTTING IT OFF AND RESTARTING IT THE VEHICLE RAN NORMALLY. THE FREQUENCY OF THIS INCREASED FROM ONCE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS TO NOW UP TO 5 TIMES IN 10 MILES. WHEN IT CAUSES AN OBD CODE IT IS P2112. IT OCCURS MOST FREQUENTLY WHILE ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND ACCELERATING TO VILLAGE SPEEDS OF 30 MPH. IT HAS EVEN OCCURRED ONCE WHILE USING CRUISE CONTROL AS THE VEHICLE WAS CLIMBING A HILL. AT THIS TIME IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT IS CAUSING THE FAULT. AN ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. A NEW THROTTLE BODY IS ON ORDER BUT HAS TO BE INSTALLED YET TO SEE IF IT CORRECTS THE ISSUE.
ON 09/22/2019 WHILE DRIVING, ON A LOCAL CITY STREET, WHERE THE SPEED LIMITS VARY FROM 30-45 MPH, MY BRAKES BECAME COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE WHILE DRIVING IN A 45 MPH ZONE. MY VEHICLE IS A 2015 FORD F-150 WITH 63,000 MILES. I INSPECTED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, AND IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY WITH NO SIGN OF LEAKAGE ANYWHERE. I DID A QUICK SEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND LEARNED THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUES ON THE 2013-2014 MODELS, BUT NOT 2015 AND UP, WHICH ARE NOW EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I AM FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO GET A RESOLUTION. THE DEALERSHIP HAS CONFIRMED AT THIS POINT THAT IT IS THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER THAT HAS LEAKED FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHICH CAUSED THE LOSS OF BRAKES, AND IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL FOR THE PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS. THE DEALERSHIP IS SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH AN ESTIMATE OF THE REPAIRS, BUT HAVE YET TO DO SO AFTER A WEEK OF BEING AT THE DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHEN THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. ALSO, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE ENGAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COURTESY FORD (6393 US-98, HATTIESBURG, MS 39402, (601) 264-5555) WHERE THE MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE BOOSTER, AND BRAKE BOOSTER SENSOR WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,566. *PM*JB
SINCE DECEMBER 27TH 2018 THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH HAS GONE OUT 3 TIMES. THE SECOND TIME 3 OR MORE QTS OF OIL LEAKED OUT. LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN STARTING UP IN DRIVEWAY.
I HAVE EXPERIENCE A BRAKE FAILURE DURING THE OPERATION OF MY VEHICLE, SIMILAR TO THE DESCRIPTION WITHIN THE FINDINGS FOR FORD 16S24 ' BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT ' 2013-2014 FORD F-150 ON MY 2015 FORD F-150 WITH THE SAME MOTOR. I HAVE HAD A NON-FORD MECHANIC TAKE A LOOK AND FOUND THE SAME CONDITION DESCRIBED IS WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE, AS WELL AS HAVE THE VEHICLE NOW BEING INVESTIGATED BY AN AUTHORIZED FORD MECHANIC. I WOULD LIKE TO ENSURE THAT THE SCOPE OF THE INVESTIGATION INCLUDE EXPANSION TO 2015 VEHICLES BUILT IN THE SAME MANUFACTURING LOCATIONS, AS I BELIEVE MY SAME SITUATION AND RISK EXIST FOR MINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LAWHORN FORD (2434 LAKEWAY DR, RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SEAL HAD RUPTURED AND THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. WIFE WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AND EXPERIENCED SUDDEN LOSE OF BRAKES , BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LIGHT CAME ON . HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO BRING VEHICLE TO A STOP WITH NO PRIOR WARNING.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES. BLUEBONNET FORD LINCOLN (351 I-35BL, NEW BRAUNFELS, TX 78130, (888) 890-1586) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,534.
I PICKED UP MY 2015 FORD F150 ON THURSDAY OF LAST WEEK BECAUSE THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING AND CAUSED MY WIFE TO LOSE HER BRAKES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I DROVE MY TRUCK TO OUR FAMILY REUNION ABOUT AN HOUR AND HALF AWAY ON SATURDAY WHICH WAS 2 DAYS AFTER I HAD PICKED MY TRUCK UP AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT SHUT OFF BY TAPING THE BRAKE. MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY AND I WAS IN THE SLOW LANE WITH THE CRUISE SET AT 72MPH. I WAS APPROACHING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, SO I LOOKED IN MY LEFT MIRROR AND NOTICED A CAR COMING UP BESIDE ME. I WAS UNABLE TO PASS, SO I TOUCHED THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND I LOOKED BACK IN MY MIRROR AGAIN TO SEE IF THE CAR BESIDE ME WAS GOING TO PASS ME SOON. MY WIFE THEN SAID WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I TOLD HER I AM GOING TO PASS THIS CAR IN FRONT OF US AFTER THE CAR BESIDE ME PASSED US. SHE THEN SAID WELL YOU BETTER SLOW DOWN BECAUSE YOU ARE ABOUT TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. HERE MY CRUISE CONTROL NEVER DISENGAGED SO I TOUCHED THE BRAKES 2 MORE TIMES AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I FINALLY HAD TO SLAM ON THE BREAKS AND IT FINALLY DISENGAGED. I HAD ALMOST REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. I THEN GOT INTO THE FAST LANE AND PLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AGAIN AND FOUND OUT THAT I WAS UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL BY TAPPING THE BRAKES LIKE YOU SHOULD. I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL 2/3 OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHICH AT THIS POINT YOU ARE STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS THE THIRD SAFETY ISSUE IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR THAT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND THAT IT HAS BEEN TOWED TO FORD. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT FORD. DEC 2018 THROTTLE BODY WENT BAD AND SHUT OFF WITH MY WIFE DRIVING MY TRUCK, SEPT 2019 MASTER CYLINDER WENT BAD AND CAUSED MY WIFE TO LOSE THE BRAKES WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, AND SEPT 2019 CRUISE CONTROL NOT WORKING PROPERLY ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
STARTED THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR HAD LOW FLUID. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO ACTIVATED. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED IT WENT ALL THE WALL TO THE FLOOR. REFILLED THE RESERVOIR AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. MOVED THE VEHICLE AND PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH WENT TO THE FLOOR. RECEIVED ANOTHER BRAKE ACTIVATED AND LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNINGS AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BEECHMONT FORD, CINCINNATI, OH FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. AWAITING THEIR FINDINGS.
I HAVE A SMALL HOLE IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. CRESCENT FORD TRUCKS, THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, SAID THAT THE HOLE IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS THERE BY DESIGN TO DRAIN WATER. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE EPA WOULD BE HAPPY WITH A HOLE FROM WHICH EXHAUST GASES CAN ESCAPE BEFORE THEY ARE TREATED BY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. HOPEFULLY I AM REPORTING THIS TO THE RIGHT AGENCY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKES SEIZED AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RED MCCOMBS FORD (833-504-1993, LOCATED AT 8333 W I-10, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78230) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT WITH THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. WHILE MY 15 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING WITH HIS LEARNERS PERMIT, WE WERE EXITING A HIGHWAY. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND DRY. AS HE WAS SLOWING DOWN THE VEHICLE ON A 65MPH HWY OFF RAMP, AT APPROXAMATLY 35-40 MPH THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT AND ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. HE WASN'T ABLE COME TO COMPLETE STOP. WE MADE A RIGHT TURN ROLLING ONTO THE CROSS STREET AND AN ONCOMING VEHICLE HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID US. I THEN TOOK OVER THE DRIVING TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. IT WAS CLEAR THERE WERE NO POWER BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SOFT, TAKING MUTCH MORE DISTANCE TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL. ONCE WE WERE HOME I ADDED BRAKE FLUID AGAIN AND AGAIN TOTALING TWO QUARTS OF FLUID. THE FLUID WOULD ONLY LAST IN THE RESERVIOR FOR SEVERAL MINUTES THEN IT WOULD DRAIN DOWN. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF FLUID LEAKING ANYWHERE ALONG THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE IS NOW UNDRIVABLE. MY ASUMPTION IS THAT THE FLUID IS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE VEHICLE IS IN TRANSIT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS.
DRIVING, I RECEIVED A LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING. THE NEXT BRAKING EVENT I LOST ALL BRAKE CONTROLS. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP. ALL TRAFFIC LIGHTS WERE GREEN AND WAS ABLE TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN MY DRIVEWAY. ALMOST CAUSED TWO INCIDENTS BUT WAS ABLE TO SWERVE

AROUND 5:30PM MY CELL PHONE RINGS AND THE ID SHOWS THAT IT IS MY WIFE CALLING ME. I FIGURED SHE WAS CALLING ME TO TALK ABOUT HER DAY OR WHAT I WAS MAKING FOR DINNER BUT SHE WAS REALLY CALLING ME TO TELL ME MY TRUCK'S BRAKE AND FLUID LIGHT SENSOR CAME ON. SHE WAS WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING THE TRUCK ANY FURTHER AS SHE WAS COMING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I TOLD HER THAT I WOULD GOOGLE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS HAVING THIS ISSUE AND THAT I WOULD CALL HER RIGHT BACK. I QUICKLY SEARCHED 2015 F-150 BRAKE AND FLUID LIGHT SENSOR AND INSTANTLY FOUND SEVERAL POSTS ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE. AFTER READING A COUPLE VERY QUICKLY, MOST PEOPLE SAID THAT THEY LOST THEIR BRAKES INSTANTLY OR WITH IN MINUTES. I WAS WORRIED SO I QUICKLY CALLED HER BACK AND CALMLY ASKED HER IF SHE COULD GET OFF THE HIGHWAY OR PULL OFF ASAP. I THEN PROCEEDED TO TELL HER THAT SHE MIGHT LOSE THE BRAKES IN THE TRUCK. I TOLD HER TO CALL ME IF THE VEHICLE BECAME WORSE. AT THAT TIME SHE WAS CLOSE TO THE EXIT. AS SHE WAS APPROACHING THE OFF RAMP THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. SHE PRESSED THE PEDAL AGAIN BEFORE GETTING TO THE YIELD SIGN AND REALIZED THAT SHE WAS LOSING THE BRAKES. LUCKILY THE TRAFFIC WAS NOT HEAVY IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND ALLOWED HER TO RUN THE YIELD SIGN WITHOUT HAVING THE ABILITY TO STOP IF NEEDED. SHE GOT IT STOPED. SHE THEN CALLED ME AGAIN TO TELL ME THAT THE TRUCK LOST ITS BRAKES AND THAT IT WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. AT THIS TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR EVERY TIME SHE PRESSED IT. WHEN I ARRIVED AT HER LOCATION THE BRAKE FLUID WAS ABOUT EMPTY. I REFILLED IT AND PRESSED THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. FORD FOUND THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. I'M STILL WAITING FOR THEM TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PART IN.
VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE 4 TIMES ONE DAY AND 3 DAYS LATER 8 TIMES.FAULTS WERE HILL ASSIST, ADVANCED TRACK, PICTURE OF WRENCH CAME ON THEN ENGINE LIGHT. LIMP MODE IS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN AS I WAS ON A RURAL NARROW ROAD, HAD TO STOP VEHICLE PUT IN PARK SHUT OFF ENGINE. RESTART ENGINE GO A WAYS AND LIMP MODE AGAIN. IF THIS HAPPENED ON A LARGE FREEWAY OR AT AN INTERSECTION IT WOULD BE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. CALLED DEALERSHIP WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED THEY COULD NOT GET ME IN FOR 8 DAYS.
I DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL TO START TRUCK. ONCE TRUCK STARTED THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED. TRIED MOVING THE TRUCK A COUPLE FEET TO SEE IF I HAD BRAKES, AND THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. CHECKED THE MASTER CYLINDER, IT WAS EMPTY. I ADDED ABOUT 10 OZ. OF BRAKE FLUID, PUMPED UP THE BRAKES AND IT WORKED. DROVE ABOUT 8 MINUTES TO WORK, BRAKES OK. I RETURNED TO THE TRUCK AFTER WORK, ABOUT 10 HOURS AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AGAIN AND NO BRAKES. I FILLED MASTER CYLINDER AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. I DROVE VERY SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY BECAUSE I EXPECTED TO BRAKES TO FAIL AT ANY TIME. I LIVE 5 MILES FROM WORK. IF IT WAS ANY MORE I WOULD HAVE HAD THE TRUCK TOWED. I WILL HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER IN THE MORNING.
IN EARLY SEPTEMBER OF 2019, I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 FORD F-150 ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER AS THE DASHBOARD LITE UP WITH SOME KIND OF TRACTION WARNING. I DRIFTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARKED. THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHOOK SIGNIFICANTLY AT THIS POINT. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 2MINUTES. I STARTED THE TRUCK UP AND WENT ON MY WAY WITH NO PROBLEM. (NOTE: THIS INCIDENT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS I WAS ON A MAJOR ROADWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. MY 10 AND 8 YEAR OLD GRANDCHILDREN WERE IN THE BACK SEAT). A FEW WEEKS AND A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES LATER, I WAS ON A NARROW MOUNTAIN ROAD GOING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER AFTER BOTH OCCURRENCES, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I'M RELUCTANT TO DRIVE IT AS THIS SITUATION COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT ONLY HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT AND I USE IT TO TOW MY TRAVEL TRAILER. I WAS NOT TOWING THE TRAILER WHEN THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED. BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO BRAKE FLUID LEAKING THROUGH MASTER CYLINDER AND BEING SUCKED INTO THE EXHAUST. THE FLUID IS SUCKED OUT OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM THROUGH A VACUUM LINE IN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER WHICH LOWERS THE FLUID LEVEL AND LETS AIR INTO THE BRAKE LINES. THE BRAKE FLUID IS THEN BURNED IN THE EXHAUST AND CREATES WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON A MAIN CITY ROAD AND THE BRAKES WENT OUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER. THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP ONLY IF THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS COMPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE USED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" LIGHT CAME ON, MORE BRAKE FLUID (32 OZ) WAS ADDED BUT IT WAS IMMEDIATELY SUCKED THROUGH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND INTO THE EXHAUST AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FLUSH THE BRAKE SYSTEM AS I ASSUMED THERE WAS AIR IN THE LINES DUE TO THE LOW FLUID LEVEL. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP FLUSHED THE BRAKE AND REPLACED ALL FLUID THE VEHICLE STILL HAD NO BRAKES. THIS IS WHEN THE PROBLEM WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DISCOVERED.
THE TRANSMISSION DROPS OUT OF GEAR AND CANNOT BE REENGAGED UNTIL VEHICLE IS STOPPED SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. PROBLEM HAS INCREASINGLY GOTTEN WORSE FROM A MILD FAIL TO ENGAGE AFTER A THREE POINT TURN AROUND TO CURRENT CONDITION. LAST MOST DRAMATIC EVENT OCCURRED YESTERDAY WHILE ON I-75 NEAR LEXINGTON, PULLING A TRAVEL TRAILER WHEN IT DROPPED OUT OF SIXTH GEAR IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER BEHIND THE TRUCK. VEHICLE WENT TO IDLE, WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED. THERE WAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT REENGAGE. HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT VEHICLE DOWN. UPON RESTARTING TRANSMISSION WORKED NORMALLY UNTIL REACHED DESTINATION. TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM. ONLY ONE ERROR CODE HAS APPEARED, P0731. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS ADDED AND CODE WAS CLEARED. PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. OTHER DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM WITH NO CODES PRESENT. DROVE LESS THAN A MILE HOME READY TO USE THE EBRAKE AFTER NOTICING THE BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE STOPPING, SO DIDN'T KNOW HOW MUCH WAS LEFT. THE BRAKE FLUID WAS VERY LOW. TURNS OUT, IT'S THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING ALL THE FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHICH APPARENTLY IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT FORD IS OK WITH? THEY RECALLED THE 2013 AND 2014S, BUT 2015S AND 2016S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SHAME.

AS I TRIED TO STOP AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH WHAT FELT LIKE WAS NO PRESSURE. ONLY AFTER FULLY SEATING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WAS I ABLE TO GET THE BRAKES TO GRAB AND GET STOPPED. LUCKILY IT WAS EARLY MORNING AND TRAFFIC WAS MINIMAL. WHEN I CHECKED MY BRAKE FLUID IT WAS WELL BELOW THE MINIMUM LEVEL MARK. USING ANOTHER VEHICLE AT WORK, I WENT AND BOUGHT A SMALL BOTTLE OF FLUID AND PUT THE ENTIRE THING INTO THE RESERVOIR, BRINGING UP TO ABOUT HALF WAY BETWEEN MIN AND MAX. OVER THE NEXT 10 MINUTES WE WATCHED THE LEVEL SLOWLY DROP DOWN BELOW THE MIN LINE AND BEYOND. I DROVE BACK TO THE STORE AND BOUGHT A LARGE BOTTLE OF FLUID, HAVING DECIDED I WAS GOING TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I FILLED THE RESERVOIR TO THE MAX LINE AND SET OUT AT A SLOW SPEED USING SIDE STREETS. I HADN'T WENT 2 MILES WHEN THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I CHECKED THE LEVEL, AGAIN DOWN BELOW MIN, AND I AGAIN REFILLED THE RESERVOIR, USING THE REST OF THE BOTTLE, AND CONTINUED ON....ONCE AGAIN WITHIN 2 MILES THE LIGHT RETURNED. I NEVER REALLY HAD BRAKE PRESSURE THROUGHOUT THIS TIME. NEVER ONCE DID I FIND EVIDENCE OF A LEAK. TODAY THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND TOLD ME MY MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER BOTH NEED REPLACED, AND THE FLUID WAS BUILDING INSIDE THE BOOSTER, HENCE NO PUDDLE. MY TRUCK IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD, WITH LESS THAN 54,000 MILES ON IT SO IT SEEMS EARLY IN ITS LIFE TO HAVE THIS SYSTEM FAIL SUDDENLY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, INCLUDING THIS SITE, I'VE SEEN THAT THIS ISN'T QUITE AS UNCOMMON AS I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. THERE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN MANY INSTANCES OF THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL OF TRUCK LOSING ITS BRAKE SYSTEM AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE OR EARLIER.
MY 2015 F150 CREW CAB LOSES ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. YOU WILL BE GOING DOWN ROAD OR PULLING OUT AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS LIGHT UP AND THE GAS PEDDLE WILL DO NOTHING. WHILE DRIVING IN DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID INDICATOR CAME ON AS WELL AS THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT NEARLY TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING ABILITY WAS SEVERELY DIMINISHED. I HAPPENED TO BE CLOSE TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE SO I FILLED UP THE FLUID RESERVOIR WITH APPROXIMATELY 24 OZ. OF BRAKE FLUID. WITHIN ABOUT 3 MILES THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. MY WIFE BROUGHT MORE BRAKE FLUID TO ME AND I ADDED APPROXIMATELY 24 OZ. MORE. I BARELY MADE IT HOME, ANOTHER 5 MILES, AS THE BRAKES WERE FAILING AND THE RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY AGAIN. THERE IS NO SIGN OF A LEAK. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE AND DISCUSSING WITH A FORD SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON DEFECT WHERE A SEAL IN THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS FAILED AND THE BRAKE FLUID IS BEING SUCKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN VEHICLE ENTERS LIMP MODE WHICH DECELERATES TO 30 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE - CAR IN BACK OF ME HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES AND SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING ME. THE WRENCH AND LIMP MODE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. MY TRUCK DID NOT REGAIN ACCERLATION AND I HAD TO HAVE A TOW TRUCK TAKE IT TO THE DEALER - I FOUND OUT TODAY IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH SOUNDS AS IF THIS A VERY COMMON ISSUE BUT WITH NO RECALLS. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THAT LITTLE CAR IN BACK OF ME WOULD HAVE REAR ENDED ME, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED FOR SURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AT A FUEL STATION AND FILLED UP THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND THE LOW BRAKE FLUID INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SILL-TERHAR FORD (303-469-1801, LOCATED AT 190 ALTER ST, BROOMFIELD, CO 80020) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID MIGHT HAVE LEAKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT THE DEALER'S FOR A COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000. *TR*JB
STARTED TRUCK AND WARNING LIGHT AND SOUND NOTIFIED ME OF LOW BRAKE FLUID. FOUND RESERVOIR VERY LOW, ADDED FLUID, APPLIED PRESSURE TO BRAKE PEDAL AND LOOKED FOR LEAKS, NO LEAKS FOUND. BRAKE PEDAL FELT SPONGY AND NOT FIRM, STARTED TO MOVE BUT BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. FOUND RESERVOIR ALMOST EMPTY AGAIN WITH NO LEAKS TO BE FOUND UNDER THE VEHICLE OR AT THE WHEELS. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO DEALERSHIP.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING CAME ON, AND SECONDS LATER THE BRAKES FELT SPONGY AND WOULD NOT RETURN. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A GAS STATION AND ADDED A BOTTLE OF BRAKE FLUID TO THE RESERVOIR. THIS GAVE PRESSURE BACK TO THE PEDAL, BUT A SECOND LATER THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND A LOSS OF PRESSURE WAS NOTICED THROUGH PEDAL AGAIN. THE PEDAL NEEDS TO BE ON THE FLOOR TO GETTING ANY STOPPING ACTION. I BELIEVE THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS A LEAK THAT IS CAUSING THIS SAFETY HAZARD.
