AFTER LEAVING THE GYM ONE MORNING, I WENT TO THE PARKING LOT AND STARTED MY TRUCK. INSTANTLY A LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT SHOWS UP, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS WEIRD BECAUSE MY BRAKES FELT COMPLETELY NORMAL DRIVING TO THE GYM. I TESTED THE BRAKES AND IMMEDIATELY PUSHED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT RESISTANCE. I WENT OUTSIDE AND NOTICED NO LEAKS ANYWHERE ALONG THE BRAKE SYSTEM. POPPED THE HOOD AND THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, BUT NO LEAKS. HOPPED BACK IN AND TESTED THE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING IN THE PARKING LOT. I HAD ABOUT 5% BRAKING POWER, AT BEST. STARTED READING ONLINE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT PEOPLE'S BRAKES GOING OUT IN THE SAME FASHION. INSTANT FAILURE. LUCKILY MINE WAS VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING WHILE PARKED IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT. OTHERS HAD IT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, TOWING A TRAILER, MUCH MORE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. ALL HAD THE SAME ISSUE - FAILED SEAL AT THE MASTER CYLINDER, ALLOWING THE VACUUM IN THE BOOSTER TO INSTANTLY SUCK ALL THE BRAKE FLUID OUT. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SURE ENOUGH, FAILED MASTER CYLINDER AND RUINED BOOSTER. $1000 TO FIX. I READ ELSEWHERE THAT FORD CHANGED OEM MANUFACTURERS FOR THE MASTER CYLINDER AT SOME POINT, WHICH THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED. ALSO, THIS ISSUE IS UNDER OFFICIAL INVESTIGATION #RQ16001, BUT HAS YET TO BE AN OFFICIAL RECALL. CONSIDERING RECALLS WERE ISSUED FOR 2013 AND 2014 MODELS FOR THE SAME REASON, AND THE OVER 600 COMPLAINTS I'VE FOUND FOR THE SAME REASONS FOR 2015, I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THIS HASN'T BEEN OFFICIALLY RECALLED YET. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE A 'LOW BREAK FLUID' WARNING ANNUNCIATED, AND ONCE ACKNOWLEDGED THE BREAK SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. I IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TO PURCHASE BREAK FLUID TO REPLENISH THE LEVEL. AS OF THIS TIME, THERE WAS NO NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN BREAKING OR THE FEEL OF MY BREAK PETAL. AFTER ADDING ALMOST THE ENTIRE PINT OF BREAK FLUID TO BRING THE LEVEL TO AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL, I STARTED MY TRUCK AND THE BREAK SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. AS I STARTED TO PULL OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT, I NOTICED A SLIGHT CHANGE IN THE FEEL OF THE BREAK PETAL. SO I STOPPED ONCE AGAIN AND LOOKED AT THE BREAK SYSTEM (MASTER CYLINDER, BOOSTER, HOSES, LINES, ETC) BUT DID NOT IDENTIFY ANY DAMAGE OR SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. I RE-ENTERED THE TRUCK AND DROVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT FOR A MINUTE OR TWO AND WITHIN THIS TIME THE FEEL OF THE BREAK PETAL RETURNED TO NEAR NORMAL FEEL. IT WAS AT THIS TIME I RE-ENTERED THE INTERSTATE AND WITHIN LESS THAN ONE MILE OF TRAVEL THE 'LOW BREAK FLUID' WARNING ANNUNCIATED ONCE AGAIN, HOWEVER UPON PRESSING THE BREAK PETAL TO EXIT, THE BREAK PETAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD WITH LITTLE TO NO BREAKING RESULTS. I RESPONDED BY USING THE EMERGENCY/PARKING BREAK TO ASSIST WITH CONTROLLING THE TRUCK UNTIL I COULD REACH A SAFE LOCATION TO PARK THE TRUCK.
PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY STEPPED ON THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR USED EMERGENCY BREAK OPEN THE HOOD TO FIND EMPTY RESERVOIR FILL THE RESERVOIR WITH FLUID FLUID STEPPED ON THE BRAKES TWO MINUTES LATER IT WAS ALL GONE WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR LEAKED ALL FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER RESULTING IN "LOW BRAKE FLUID" WARNING SECONDS BEFORE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING POWER. TRAVELING IN THE SACRAMENTO MOUNTAINS ON VACATION IN SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO WHEN THIS HAPPENED. COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS NOT ONLY INJURING US BUT OTHER OPPOSING TRAFFIC. OCCURRED ON HWY 82 BETWEEN CLOUDCROFT AND ALAMOGORDO ON JULY 6 2019. VERY STEEP STRETCH OF ROAD THAT COST THE LIFE OF ANOTHER TRUCK DRIVER JUST 1 MONTH PRIOR THAT WENT OVER THE SIDE DOWN THE CANYON. CALLED THE FORD DEALER IN ALAMOGORDO AND THEY SAID NO WARRANTY AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY IN ADDITION TO HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED. AGAIN, WE WERE ON VACATION AND STRANDED. WE HAD A MOBILE MECHANIC ORDER THE NECESSARY PARTS, AND 3 WORKING DAYS LATER (HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY AND PARTS ARRIVED WEDNESDAY) WE WERE BACK ON THE ROAD. VERY STRESSFUL SINCE THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR RECALL ON YEARS 2013-14, WITH OVER 300 REPORTS ON 2015-16 WITH NO RECALL. BRAKE FAILURE IS SERIOUS, AND FORD SHOULD TREAT IT AS SUCH.
BRAKE FAILURE, BRAKE FLUID LOSS INTO MASTER CYLINDER RESULTING IN BRAKE PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR, NO BRAKING POWER. TRUCK WAS IN MOTION IN A MOUNTAIN REGION WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS.
SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER. THE FRONT MIDDLE SEAT BELT IS STUCK CAUSING THE MIDDLE SEAT TO BE STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE MIDDLE SEAT CAN NOT BE USED.
DRIVING TO WORK AND THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SOFT. ABOUT 1/2 MILE LATER, I TRIED THE BRAKES AGAIN AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH ALMOST ZER0 STOPPING POWER. COASTED TO A STOP AND NO BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESEVOIR. NO SIGN OF LEAKAGE ANYWHERE. FIVE MINUTES ON GOOGLE AND I DISCOVER FORD RECALLED 271,000 2013 AND 2014 F150'S DUE TO DEFECTIVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. WHEN THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILS, ALL THE BRAKE FLUID GETS SUCKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, TOTALLY DISABLING THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPED WITH OUT INCIDENT. BASED ON THE AFOREMENTIONED, YOU WOULD THINK FORD WOULD CERTAINLY REPAIR THIS DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDER AND RUINED BRAKE BOOSTER ON MY 2015 F150 WITH ONLY 49,500 MILES. SPOKE TO DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE ANSWER WAS NO, YOUR 2015 F150 IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL.
BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON LOST ALL BRAKES AFTER PARKING . BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. HAPPENED COMING OFF HIGHWAY .
I HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR WARRANTY ISSUES AT OUR LOCAL DEALER. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM DEALER THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED, DUE TO THE MECHANIC LOOSING BRAKES AND ALMOST HITTING SERVICE BAY WALL. FORD IS CURRENTLY MAKING US PAY FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND ALSO AN EMISSIONS RELATED FAULT.
MY 2015 3.5 F150 HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING SUDDEN DOWNSHIFTING AT RANDOM TIMES. TYPICALLY, IT HAPPENS ONCE EVERY HUNDRED MILES OR SO AND TAKES THE GEARS FROM 5 OR 6 ALL THE WAY TO 1 OR 2 GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS SCARY ESPECIALLY SINCE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PULLING A CAMPER ACROSS THE WEST FOR A FEW MONTHS. FIRST THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE SO I REPLACED THAT. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT IT IS SPARK PLUGS. APPARENTLY, FOUR OUT OF SIX MISFIRE AT THE SAME TIME RANDOMLY WHICH THEY SAID WOULD CAUSE THE DOWNSHIFT. HOWEVER, I JUST HAD THEM REPLACED WITH NEW BOOTS THREE MONTHS AGO. THE ISSUE DID START AFTER A DEALER TRANSFLUSH BUT I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS A COINCIDENCE OR NOT.
LOST BRAKES ON THE FREEWAY THIS MORNING. I HAD TO PUT IT ON FIRST GEAR AND USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. THANK GOD TRAFFIC WAS SLOW I HAD MY DAUGHTER WITH ME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT REFILLED THE BRAKE FLUID AND THE WARNING INDICATOR TURNED OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT RECHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND SAW NO LEAKS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. MALOUF FORD LINCOLN (2210 US HIGHWAY 1, NORTH BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP, NJ 08902, (732) 951-0300) STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,300.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE IN IT, THE BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL. THE PEDAL BEGAN TO HAVE LESS RESISTANCE AND WOULD BARELY STOP. THANKFULLY THIS OCCURRED AS SHE WAS ARRIVING TO OUR HOUSE. I CHECKED IT MYSELF AS SOON AS I COULD THE NEXT MORNING AND THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO RESISTANCE ON THE PEDAL AS IT WOULD JUST GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HAD THIS HAPPENED AS WE WERE DRIVING A LONGER DISTANCE, IT COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BADLY AS THERE WERE NO EARLY WARNING SIGNS TO MY FLUID LEVEL BEING LOW. I ADDED FLUID AND TEST DROVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK. IT SEEMED TO WORK NORMALLY AGAIN. HOWEVER, AS I GOT INTO THE TRUCK THE NEXT MORNING, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE.
SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING FLUID AND POWER WHILE IN MOTION. FLUID FILLED THE BOOSTER WITH ABOUT 4 INCHES OF BRAKING FLUID FROM RESERVOIR
COMPLETE FRONT BRAKE FAILURE
ON WEDNESDAY, 6-26-19 AT APPROX. 3:15 PM MY TRUCK WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY AND HAD BEEN PARKED THERE SINCE APPROX. NOON MONDAY. TEMP. WAS IN THE LOW 90'S WITH PARTIAL SUN. THE TRUCK WAS SITTING IN PARTIAL SHADE. I GOT INTO THE TRUCK TO RUN ERRANDS AND SHUT THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I THEN HEARD A POP AND SOMETHING MOVING. I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING SINCE I HADN'T EVEN STARTED THE ENGINE YET. I LOOKED BACKWARDS TO WHERE THE SOUND WAS COMING FROM AND THAT'S WHEN I SAW THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW HAD EXPLODED AND WAS IN A MILLION PIECES. SHARDS WERE INSIDE THE TRUCK, ON THE CONCRETE, IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND IN BETWEEN THE CAB AND THE BED OF THE TRUCK. MOST OF THE SHARDS LANDED OUTSIDE THE CAB. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THIS. I'VE HAD THE TRUCK SINCE IT WAS NEW. FIRST AS MY COMPANY WORK TRUCK AND THEN I PURCHASED IT AS PART OF MY RETIREMENT. THE TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE REAR WINDOW HAS NEVER BEEN DAMAGED. THE WINDOW WAS A SOLID CAN BE HEATED. IT EXPLODED SO BAD THERE IS REALLY NO PICTURE NEEDED. ALL THAT REMAINS OF GLASS IS WHAT IS GLUED DOWN ON THE EDGES. I'M GETTING IT REPAIRED TOMORROW. LOCAL FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ACTED LIKE THIS WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM; ONE SAID WE WILL FIX IT IF YOUR INSURANCE WILL PAY OF IT. ANOTHER PERSON SAID WOW, THAT'S UNUSUAL WE CAN'T HELP YOU, CALL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'VE SEEN MANY INSTANCES ON THE INTERNET OF THE VERY SAME THING HAPPENING AND ALSO WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN IF I HAD MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THEIR SEATS AND THAT WINDOW DID THAT. I GOT CUT ENOUGH JUST CLEANING UP THE MESS.
THE TRUCK WILL, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, JUST BASICALLY CEASE TO RUN. ENGINE WILL SHAKE, TRUCK WILL QUIT MOVING UNDER ITS OWN POWER, AND SEVERAL SERVICE ADVISORIES WILL COME UP ON DASH SUCK AS "SERVICE DOWNHILL ASSIST, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL", AND A FEW OTHERS. I STOP, PUT IN PARK, TURN OFF TRUCK, RESTART, AND IT WILL BE CLEAR AND WILL GO AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES AND IS CURRENTLY BEING LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC. 3 TIMES HAS HAPPENED ON ROADS WITH VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC. TWICE, WHILE GETTING ON INTERSTATE. TRUCK HAS 87,000 MILES.
THIS AFTERNOON I LEFT WORK TO DRIVE HALF A MILE TO MY SON'S DAYCARE WHEN THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON. ONCE PARKED AT DAYCARE I CHECKED ALL LINES, WHEELS, AND UNDER THE HOOD AND HAD NO INDICATION OF ANY LEAKS. I WENT INSIDE TO GET MY SON AND CAME BACK OUT AND AS I STARTED TO DRIVE AWAY I FOUND MY BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR WITH ZERO PRESSURE AND THE BRAKES WERE TOTALLY FAILED. I HAD A FRIEND BRING ME A LARGE BOTTLE OF BRAKE FLUID AND I REFILLED THE RESERVOIR. I DID A SHORT TEST DRIVE AROUND THE DAYCARE AND THAT WAS ENOUGH TO LOWER THE FLUID LEVEL. I LIVE 3.1 MILES AWAY FROM THE DAYCARE SO DECIDED TO CAREFULLY DRIVE HOME. I HAD TO STOP 3 TIMES TO REFILL THE RESERVOIR WHEN THE LOW FLUID LIGHT CAME ON BEFORE THE BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY, AGAIN. I WENT THROUGH 4 BOTTLES OF BRAKE FLUID IN 3 MILES, STILL WITH NO INDICATION OF ANY LEAKS. I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THAT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN TO ME WHILE DRIVING AT GREATER SPEEDS AND/OR ON A BUSY ROAD. I NOW HAVE TO DEAL WITH MISSED WORK AND TRYING TO GET MY TRUCK TO A DEALERSHIP AND REPAIRED, WHILE BEING A SINGLE PARENT OF A TODDLER.
DESIGN FLAW IN VISTA SUNROOF ON SUPERCREW TRUCKS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO LEAK. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT BUT REQUIRES A $1200-$1500 REPAIR FEE. IN ADDITION, KNOWN FLAW IN LUG NUTS EXPANDING TO POINT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO REMOVE WHEELS. COAT TO REPLACE ANOTHER KNOWN DEFECT IS $14 PER LUG NUT.MAJOR ISSUES SHOULD BE COVERED WHEN RELATED TO LOCKED WHEELS AND WATER LEAKAGE INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DURING OPERATION.
MY 2015 F150 WITH 100,700 MILES ON IT COMPLETELY STALLED ON ME WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. I LOST ALL CONTROL AND HAD NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO IDLE MODE AND WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL I PUT IN PARK AND THEN TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND THEN RESTARTED THE TRUCK. RAN MY CODES AND NOTICED THAT IT SHOWED A P2112 CODE WHICH WAS A FAULT WITH THE THROTTLE BODY RESPONSE. THIS CAUSED MY TRUCK TO COMPLETELY LOSE ALL FUNCTION IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH CROSS TRAFFIC. LUCKILY THERE WERE PEOPLE TURNING TO PREVENT AN 18 WHEELER FROM COMING TOWARDS ME AND THE SPEED LIMIT OF 55 MPH. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TO JUST SHUTDOWN LIKE THIS AND CAUSE SERIOUS DANGER FOR MYSELF AND THOSE DRIVING AROUND ME. AFTER READING ONLINE IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY'S. THIS IS NOT OK!!!! I REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY MYSELF WITHOUT PAYING $800 AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THIS HAS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR SAFETY REASONS.
WHILE DRIVING ON A TWO-LANE ROAD, MY ENGINE WENT TO "LIMP" MODE, NO POWER, ROUGH IDLE AND THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS (WRENCH, CHECK SERVICE MANUAL ETC.) ALL LIT UP. NO POWER AND COSTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHUT OFF, THEN VEHICLE STARTED NORMALLY BEFORE DOING IT A 2ND TIME. HAD TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER (RAY SCHULTENS, THE DALLES OREGON). DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (FORD TSB 16-0139) NOT COVERED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT THIS CONDITION MAKES THE VEHICLE INHERENTLY UNSAFE WITH NO ABILITY TO CONTROL ENGINE POWER.
WHILE TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL ALONG A CURVE ON A STATE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 55 MPH, THE WHEEL HAS TO BE RESET TO THE CENTER. ON YOUTUBE A VIDEO BY CHRIS PETERSON, CALLED "STEERING ISSUE IN 2016 F150 PULLING TO LEFT" IS IDENTICAL TO MY PROBLEM. BELOW UNDER DOCUMENT I DOWNLOADED THE HYPERLINK FROM YOUTUBE. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES TO HAPPEN, I FIRST NOTICED IT THIS PAST SPRING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S THROTTLE COMPLETELY FAILED AND SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOLMES TUTTLE FORD LINCOLN (660 W AUTO MALL DR, TUCSON, AZ 85705, (866) 930-6255) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,500.

STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, COULD NOT GET OFF THE ROAD. SHUT VEHICLE OF THEN ON AGAIN AND DROVE FOR HALF A MILE BEFORE IT DID IT AGAIN. VEHICLE HAS 63,000 MILES AND TODAY THE WARNING LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING HOME. AT THAT POINT THE BRAKES WE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THERE WAS A AUTO PARTS STORE A FEW MILES FROM MY LOCATION SO I DIVERTED TO THE STORE. I THOUGHT I WAS EITHER TOPPING OFF FLUID OR WOULD FIND A BROKEN LINE WHEN I ARRIVED. AT THE TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR NEARLY NO BRAKING POWER ONLY GOING 5 MILES AN HOUR OR LESS. AT THE STORE I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO LEAKS. THE RESERVOIR WAS VERY LOW. I REPLACE THE FLUID TO THE CORRECT LEVEL AND CONTINUED HOME. WITHIN 5 MILES THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I PROCEEDED 2 MORE MILES HOME TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. I FOUND THE RESERVOIR LOW AGAIN, I THOROUGHLY INSPECTED FOR LEAKS AND FOUND NOTHING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CYLINDER OR ANY LINES. THE I BEGAN TO RESEARCH THE PROBLEM. I WILL NOW CONTACT THE DEALER TO ARRANGE FOR REPAIRS. I AM SUSPECT THAT SOMETHING INTERNALLY TO THE CYLINDER IS LEAKING. WHERE ELSE WOULD 10OZ OF FLUID GO? IF ANYONE FROM FORD IS READING THIS (NATIONAL SAFETY MANAGER...) IT'S NOT JUST THE GOODS OR SERVICES YOU PROVIDE THAT MATTERS. 11JUN2019 0600 - PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE AT GAS STATION AND WARNING LIGHT COMES ON FOR LOW BRAKE FLUID. BRAKES STILL OPERATING NORMALLY AT THIS POINT. I LEAVE THE GAS STATION AND DRIVE APPROXIMATELY A MILE TO THE CLOSEST STORE TO PURCHASE BRAKE FLUID, PRESUMING ONLY A TOP OFF IS REQUIRED. BY THE TIME I GET TO THE STORE, BRAKING HAS DIMINISHED BY 90%. I HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS FAILURE IN BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, WITH BRAKE FLUID LEAKING INTO BRAKE BOOSTER, RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING.

UPON BRAKING WHEN ENTERING THE FLORIDA I-275 ON RAMP, MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR ACCOMPANIED BY A "LOW BRAKE FLUID" DASH WARNING. MY BRAKING CAPACITY WAS SEVERELY AFFECTED AND EMERGENCY BRAKING WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AN OPTION. I WAS ABLE TO EXIT IMMEDIATELY AND PULL OVER TO INVESTIGATE. MY BRAKE RESERVOIR WAS NEARLY EMPTY AND NO SIGN OF LEAKS BENEATH THE VEHICLE. I DROVE VERY SLOWLY (STUPID IDEA) TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED MY ISSUE. DUE TO ME EXTENDED WARRANTY, I WAS ABLE TO RENT A VEHICLE AND LEAVE MINE. TECH CALLED NEXT DAY AND INFORMED ME BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE AS WELL AS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. HE INFORMED ME IT "IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY". I HAVE NEWS FOR THEM. THE HUNDRED DOLLAR CO PAY IS GOING TO BE AN "ISSUE"... MY TRUCK IS THE 6CYL. 3.6 LITER ECO BOOST TWIN TURBO. VERY DISCOURAGED FORD IS NOT RECALLING THIS ISSUE AND PRAY SOMEONE IS NOT SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THEIR IRRESPONSIBILITY.

SCARED ME TO DEATH. NO ONE WAS HURT LUCKILY. I HAD NO WARNING OF TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE OTHER THAN A WARNING LIGHT MOMENTS BEFORE INDICATING LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY OFFERED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND OFFERED NO INFORMATION ABOUT THIS FREQUENCY OR SPONTANEOUS DANGEROUS POTENTIAL WITH THE VEHICLE. I AM FURIOUS. I OWN A 2015 F150 WITH THE 3.5L MOTOR AND 47,000 MILES. THIS MORNING THE " LOW BRAKE FLUID " LIGHT CAME ON THEN WITHIN MINUTES I STARTED EXPERIENCING LOW/SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL. I PULL OVER AND CHECK THE MASTER CYLINDER, THE FLUID LEVEL WAS VERY LOW. I ADD 2 CONTAINERS ( 24 FL. OZ. ) OF BRAKE FLUID TO REFILL MASTER CYLINDER AND DROVE ABOUT 3 MILES WHEN THE BRAKE MALFUNCTION LIGHT RETURN ALONG WITH LOW/SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL. I CALLED FORD ROADSIDE FOR A TOW. THERE WAS NO VISIBLE FLUID LEAK AT THE MASTER CYLINDER AREA OR AT THE 4 WHEELS. HOWEVER I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MAJOR LEAK BECAUSE THAT FLUID DID NOT TAKE LONG TO LEAK OUT ( 3 MILES AND ABOUT 10 MINUTES )
TRUCK WAS 40 MONTHS OLD WITH 33,000 MILES. NO HISTORY OF BRAKE ISSUES OR BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS. BRAKE FLUID LOW WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE IN MOTION ABOUT 1 MILE FROM STARTING POINT. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES AND 1-2 MILES OF CONTINUED DRIVING THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING OR BRAKE FLUID PRESSURE. TRUCK TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WITH DIAGNOSIS OF MASTER CYLINDER REAR SEAL LEAKING FLUID INTO BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS WAS A SUDDEN AND TOTAL FAILURE OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF 2013 F150S WERE RECALLED FOR SIMILAR MASTER CYLINDER FAILURES. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD TO EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. MY FAMILY NO LONGER FEELS SAFE IN THIS TRUCK. THIS SORT OF FAILURE IS UNACCEPTABLE GIVEN CURRENT TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING. POOR DESIGN, POOR ENGINEERING, POOR QUALITY CONTROL. THIS UNACCEPTABLE FAILURE ENDANGERS PEOPLE AND FORD SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THIS FAULTY COMPONENT.
ON MORNING OF 5/25/19, I WAS TRAVELING IN KENTUCKY ABOUT 180 MILES FROM HOME, WHEN I RECEIVED A LOW BRAKE FLUID MESSAGE. THE BRAKE FLUID TANK WAS ABOUT 1/2 FULL. I WAS IN TOWN AND WENT AHEAD AND PICKED UP A BOTTLE OF RECOMMENDED FLUID AND ADDED A BIT MORE, AND ERROR LIGHT WENT OUT. BRAKE PRESSURE SEEMED GOOD AT THAT TIME. A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD I LOST ALL BRAKE PRESSURE. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, NO BRAKE AT ALL. I WAS ON A TWO LANE ROAD AND LET THE TRUCK COAST UNTIL I COULD PULL IT OFF THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AGAIN AND TANK WAS TOTALLY EMPTY. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED TO CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP. I HAD TO CATCH A RIDE TO PICK UP A RENTAL TO DRIVE HOME. DEALERSHIP FOUND MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING INTO BRAKE BOOSTER. THEY REPLACED BOTH BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER. THEY CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE BUT THIS YEAR AND MODEL TRUCK IS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. WE PICKED UP THE REPAIRED TRUCK ON 5/31. WE WERE ABOUT TWO MILES DOWN THE ROAD AFTER PICKING UP, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TURNED AROUND AND TOOK TRUCK BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY CHECKED ERROR CODE AND TURNED OFF MESSAGE. WE WERE ABOUT 80 MILES DOWN ROAD WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. WE DROVE ABOUT 100 MILES TO HOME AND CALLED OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND TAKE FLUID WAS CLOGGING THE VAC SUPPLY AND THE MANIFOLD INTAKE. THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE MANIFOLD INTAKE TO CLEAN ALL THE BRAKE FLUID OUT OF THE VACCINE HOSES. FINAL REPAIR WAS ON JUNE 7. BOTH REPAIRS TOTALED $1337.15, AND A CAR RENTAL AND AN EXTRA NIGHT'S HOTEL STAY. ALL THE FINANCIAL CHARGES SEEM MINOR COMPARED TO THE SCARE WE HAD ON A NARROW TWO LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO BRAKES. WE FEEL BLESSED WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY PULL CAR OFF THE ROAD. THIS MODEL TRUCK SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN FORDS BRAKE RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE HAS A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
AFTER ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND MAINTAINING A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY LOST FUNCTION AND WAS ABLE TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY BACK WITH NO EFFECTIVENESS. NO ALARMS OR SAFETY CHIMES ALERTED THE FAILURE. THIS WAS FRIGHTENING DUE TO OUR WHOLE FAMILY BEING PRESENT AND THE SPEED OF WHICH WE WERE TRAVELING AT THE POINT OF FAILURE. WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER AND BE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANICS COULD NOT RECREATE THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER IN HOPES THAT THIS WILL CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I AM STILL UNSURE IF THE VEHICLE HAS HAD THE ISSUE CORRECTED PERMANENTLY.
DRIVING ABOUT 30MPH WHEN LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD. WHEN I PULLED OVER BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I LOST ALL MY BRAKES HAD TO HAVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND VACUUM PUMP REPLACED ALSO BRAKE FLUID GOT INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND CONTAMINATED THAT
THE REAR PASSENGER POWER DOOR LOCK INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO UNLOCK THE DOOR AND IT WILL NOT WORK MANUALLY. THIS POSES A SAFETY HAZARD IF SOMEONE NEEDED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. THE NHTSA 17V-652 RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED ALTHOUGH THE LATCH WAS NOT REPLACED WHICH IS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE AS WELL.
WHILE DRIVING I RECEIVED A WARNING LIGHT THAT MY BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. WENT TO STOP AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I ADDED BRAKE FLUID AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, PLUS IT STARTED TO PUSH WHITE SMOKE OUT OF THE TAIL PIPES FROM THE BRAKE FLUID ENTERING THE ENGINE THROUGH THE VACUUM SYSTEM FROM THE POWER BOOSTER. THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE MASTER CYLINDERS IN THESE VEHICLES AND HOPE YOU ARE ABLE TO CONCLUDE YOUR INVESTIGATION INTO THIS ISSUE AND GET A RECALL IN PROCESS SO THAT I MAY BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR.
DOOR LOCKS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BOTH FRONT AND BACK HAS STOPPED LOCKING ELECTRONICALLY. YOU CAN STILL MANUALLY LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS. NEITHER THE REMOTE OR THE FACTORY MOUNTED TOGGLE SWITCH WILL LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DRIVERS SIDE DOORS. ALL THE OTHER DOORS INCLUDING THE TAILGATE WORK NORMALLY.
THE (DRIVER'S SIDE) DOOR SOMETIMES DOES NOT LATCH COMPLETELY, OR WILL NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED UNDER FSA 18NO3. WE LEARNED THERE WAS A FSA 19NO2 AND THAT THE DEALER SHOULD REPAIR IT AGAIN AT NO CHARGE, BUT THEY WANT TO CHARGE US $150, EVEN THOUGH FORD SAYS IT SHOULD BE FREE.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AN ERROR WILL RANDOMLY POP UP STATING 'SEE MANUAL' THEN ANOTHER ONE POPS UP STATING 'HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT.' THE TRUCK THEN LOSES ALL POWER. YOU HAVE TO CAREFULLY DRIVE OFF THE ROAD (WITH NO POWER) AND STOP AND THEN RESTART. SOMETIMES IT WILL START AND BE FINE, OTHER TIMES THE ERROR WILL APPEAR AGAIN. VERY UNSAFE IF YOU LOSE POWER DRIVING 80MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON, THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO STOP, I HAD NO BRAKES. PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. JUST MISSED HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS NO WARNING FROM THE TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAVING NO BRAKES. IT WAS THE FIRST DEPRESSION OF THE PEDAL FOLLOWING THE LIGHT. I WAS ON THOMASVILLE ROAD IN TALLAHASSEE AT 6:30 IN THE MORNING, LIGHT TRAFFIC, FOUR LANE ROAD, 45MPH. FIRESTONE IS TELLING ME THAT REPAIRS WILL COST $2,500+. TRUCK HAS 60,000 MILES, NEEDS NEW MASTER CYLINDER, BOOSTER, FRONT CALIPERS BECAUSE THE LEFT WAS LOCKING UP, NEW FRONT ROTORS, NEW REAR ROTORS AND READ PADS.
WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, PUT IT IN DRIVE, THE TRUCK WENT TO FULL THROTTLE ON ITS OWN WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR, AND IT TOOK OFF AT AN EXCESSIVE SPEED. I TRIED BRAKING, BUT IT JUST THREW ME INTO A POWER SLIDE. SO, ONCE I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STRAIGHTEN THE CAR WITHOUT FLIPPING IT, I COULD TURN LOOSE WITH ONE HAND AND KILL THE ENGINE. THAT'S THE ONLY WAY IT WOULD STOP. I WAS FORCED TO GO THROUGH THE YARD WITH THINGS FLYING OUT OF THE BED OF THE TRUCK RUINING A 5 GALLON CAN OF PAINT WE HAD MIXED TO PAINT THE INSIDE OF THE HOUSE. I AM A PROFESSIONAL TRUCK DRIVER, AND THIS SCARED THE DEATH OUT OF ME.
