AFTER DRIVING 30+ MIN WHEN BRINGING VEHICLE TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR PARKED, TRUCK ISLES DOWN TO 500RMP AND ROUGH IDEAL AND CHOKES LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL. THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY TO THIS. HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR 1.5 YEARS. HAVE BEEN OBSERVING FUEL LEVELS, AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, ENGINE TEMP AND THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY TO IT. THERE IS NEVER A CHECK ENGINE LIKE THAT COMES ON AND DEALER HAS DONE A HISTORY SEARCH AND THERE ARE NO CODES. MECHANICS ARE SCRATCHING THEIR HEADS. NO RECALLS, NO SERVICE ADVISORIES. DON'T WANT TO START TOSSING RANDOM PARTS INTO IT.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with a fractured passenger’s side brake line. The contact was informed that the brake line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, a year later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver’s and passenger’s side brake lines were fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000.
LOST POWER, VEHICLE STALLED OUT IN MIDDLE OF ROAD AT LOW SPEED. GOT 'WRENCH' ICON. INITIALLY DID NOT START UP AGAIN UNTIL AFTER A FEW MINUTES. WAS ABLE TO START AGAIN AND GET HOME. USED CODE READER, GOT P706 AND P707 CODES. CLEARED CODES, NO ISSUES FOR A COUPLE DAYS THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, DOWNSHIFTS HARD AT LOW SPEED, THEN FROM A STOP AT RED LIGHT I HAVE NO FIRST GEAR. THEN IT DISAPPEARS AND IS SMOOTH AGAIN. THEN IT ALL HAPPENS AGAIN THE NEXT DAY BUT IS OVERALL UNPREDICTABLE AND UNSAFE.
BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN DEPRESSED. BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE. LOW BRAKE FLUID ALARM SOUNDED. UPON SLOWING TO A STOP, THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS DEPLETED BUT NO FLUID WAS EVIDENT ON THE GROUND. THE BRAKE FLUID WAS REPLACED TO SPECIFICATIONS BUT WAS DEPLETED AGAIN WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND BRAKES WERE NOT RESTORED. AUTO TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTERNALLY AND BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DAMAGED. NO PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH BRAKING SYSTEM WERE EVER OBSERVED AND DRIVING CONDITIONS DID NOT PUT EXCESS WEAR ON BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS ISSUE IS IDENTICAL TO ISSUES DESCRIBED IN FORD RECALL 20S31.
MY BRAKES WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT AND I ALMOST CRASHED INTO OTHER CARS BECAUSE OF IT.. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE 20S31 ALREADY. ACCORDING TO THE FORD WEBSITE, THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER, THIS REPAIR WILL BE COMPLETED FREE OF CHARGE FOR MATERIAL AND LABOR. THE DEALERSHIP , PINNACLE FORD , IS TRYING TO CHARGE ME 1200.00 FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE IT HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED WHAT IS COVERED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO REACH SOMEBODY AT FORD TO HANDLE THE SITUATION FOR 3 DAYS. I FINALLY REACHED SOMEBODY ON THE PHONE AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO CALL BACK BECAUSE THE SYSTEM WAS DOWN. NOBODY SEEMS TO WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROBLEM.
WAS PARKED AT A GAS STATION AND WHEN I BACKED UP TO LEAVE MY WIFE AND I HEARD THIS THUMPING NOISE AND WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE THE STEERING BEGAN TO LOCK UP. WITH ALL MY POWER, IT WAS ALL I DO TO BARELY TURN THE WHEEL. I READ UP THAT SIMILAR RECALLS HAD BEEN MADE ON THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM WITH EARLIER TRUCKS AND IT ALL STEMS FROM A INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT ISSUE WHERE POORLY RIVETED SHAFTS ALL HAD THIS PROBLEM. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT. FORD HAS JUST RECALLED 700,00 VEHICLES OF VARIOUS 2020 MODELS DUE TO THE REAR-VIEW CAMERA, WHICH FEATURES A CIRCUIT BOARD THAT CAN BE FAULTY RESULTING IN "BLANK OR DISTORTED IMAGES" ON THE SCREEN. I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT AS I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE AFFECTS OTHER MODEL YEARS, SPECIFICALLY THE 13TH GENERATION F-150. I HAVE A 2016 F-150 THAT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED IN THE CURRENT RECALL AND OF WHICH I HAVE REVIEWED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS POSTED ACROSS MULTIPLE FORUMS. THIS ISSUE PRESENT A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN AS VISIBILITY BEHIND THE VEHICLE IS LOST WHEN THE CAMERA MALFUNCTIONS. I HAVE INCLUDED AN IMAGE OF MY CAMERA WHEN VEHICLE IS PLACED IN REVERSE. I AM REQUESTING THAT THE NHTSA ENCOURAGE FORD TO EXPAND THEIR RECALL TO INCLUDE ALL AFFECTED MODELS AS THEY MUST BE AWARE THE ISSUE IS BROADER THAT WHAT IS BEING COMMUNICATED. MY 2016 FORD F-150, AT AROUND 68,000 MILES, BEGAN TO EXPERIENCED POWER LOSS AND A LOUD WHISTLE OR WHINING SOUND DURING ACCELERATION, COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE. DURING ACCELERATION, A HIGH-PITCHED WHINE OCCURS AND INCREASES WHEN REVVING THE ENGINE. TRUCK POWER LOSS WAS NOTICEABLE AND BOOST DECLINED, DROPPING TO LESS THAN 25%. EXHAUST FUMES WERE NOTICEABLE FROM INSIDE THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. DEPAUL FORD OF ALBANY, NY MISDIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD TURBO WITH A STUCK OPEN WASTEGATE AND SO WE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE TURBO, WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK WAS BROUGHT TO A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MECHANIC 'TECHNICIAN', MATT, AT MILLER'S CORNERS GARAGE IN ALBANY, NY. HE DISCOVERED THE BOLTS AND STUDS THAT HOLD THE MANIFOLDS IN PLACE WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND THE MANIFOLD WAS WARPED WITH SIGNIFICANT AIR LEAK AND BLOW BY. THERE WAS A LARGE BLACK SOOTY STREAK ON THE MANIFOLD SIDE WHERE THE TURBO HOOKS UP, WHERE THE BLOW-BY WAS OCCURRING. AT A COST OF $1100 THE PASSENGER SIDE MANIFOLD, HARDWARE AND RELATED COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. THE DRIVER SIDE MANIFOLD IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM FORD UNTIL LATE DECEMBER AND STILL REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND IS DRIVEN IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. IT IS RARELY USED FOR TOWING. IT'S ABSURD TO THINK THAT A TRUCK WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE WOULD HAVE SUCH A SEVERE AND EXPENSIVE ISSUE, SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASING ENGINE POWER, REDUCING THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE AND BRINGING FUMES INTO THE CAB. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE.
I WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP & THEY'RE THE ONES WHO TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE VEHICLE AFTER I HAD PURCHASED IT. THEY MADE UP EXCUSES AS TO WHY THEY COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM, ACCORDING TO THEM THEY DIDN'T HAVE PARTS TO RESOLVE THE RECALL ISSUE & TO COME BACK ANOTHER DAY. NOT TO WORRY THAT MY VEHICLE IS FINE. I'VE NOTICED MY TRUCK IS MALFUNCTIONING WHEN I TRY TO SLOW DOWN & STARTS SHAKING MAKING IT HARD TO BREAK ON TIME. I NOW PUT IN THE VIN NUMBER TO THEIR WEBSITE SO I CAN SCHEDULE A SERVICE & THE WEBSITE TELLS ME THERE'S NOT A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I UPLOADED A IMAGE OF WHAT IT SAYS SO THERE'S EVIDENCE OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE. NOT ONLY DID THEY SELL ME A TRUCK WITH MECHANICAL ISSUES GUARANTEEING ME THAT THE TRUCK WAS IN PHENOMENAL CONDITIONS BUT NOW THEY'RE ALSO REFUSING TO FIX IT.
THE PASSENGER SIDE LED HEADLIGHT FIRST BEGAN TO FLICKER 2 MONTHS AGO. HEADLIGHT WOULD BE ON AND THEN SUDDENLY GO OFF. THEN THE PROBLEM SWITCHED TO THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT. NOW, SOMETIMES BOTH LIGHTS GO OFF. I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK FOR 2 YEARS NOW AND HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PEOPLE FLASH ME AT NIGHT INDICATING THAT MY LOW BEAMS ARE STILL TO BRIGHT FOR THE OTHER DRIVERS.

ADDITIONALLY, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC RETRIEVED FAULT CODE: P0012 (INTAKE (A) CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING -OVER- RETARDED (BANK 1). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
CAN'T GET TBS INFO ON MY TRUCK. I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN SOME FOR FROZEN DOOR LOCKS, FROZEN WINDSHIELD WASHER LINES, FIRE HAZARD FOR SIDE IMPACT COLLISIONS BUT THE NHTSA SITE SAYS THERE ARE ZERO. HOW CAN CHECK AS A OWNER. THE MANUFACTURER PAGES ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE TO ME AS NO LOGIN OR PASSWORD FOR OWNERS TO REGISTER FOR. HELP:)
RELATED TO TSB-16-0139. WHILE DRIVING: HILL START ASSIST UNAVAILABLE MESSAGE; SERVICE ADVANCETRAC MESSAGE. WRENCH ICON, TRACTION ICON, AND CHECK ENGINE ICON DISPLAYED. TRUCK WENT INTO LIMP MODE. ROUGH IDLE, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE UNTIL TURNED OFF AND BACK ON. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED TO REPLACE THROTTLE BODIES. WOULD NOT COVER UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY I BELIEVE THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON SOME F150S, BUT IT DIDN'T INCLUDE MY MONTH/YEAR OF MANUFACTURE, TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE.
BRAKE FAILURE GOING DOWN A HILL, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. PUMPED THE BRAKES HOWEVER IT DID NOT HELP. NO WARNING ABOUT A BRAKE PROBLEM BEFORE IT HAPPENED. TRUCK ROLLED TO A STOP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL ON FLAT TERRAIN. I WAS FORTUNATE NO OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDISTRAINS WERE ON THE HILL AT THIS TIME. VEHICLE IS AT FORD DEALER TRYING TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF BRAKE FAILURE. DATE OF FAILURE 7/28/2020.
VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND SITTING IN OUR HOME DRIVEWAY. BEFORE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, I SMELLED SMOKE AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM BEHIND THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND LOWERED THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT TO INVESTIGATE. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE BOX IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE BACK GLASS. SECONDS LATER, A LOUD EXPLOSION FROM THE BOX AND THE BACK GLASS SHATTERED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CENTER SLIDING PORTION.
COMPLETE, SUDDEN, UNEXPECTED BRAKE FAILURE. BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO WARNING. SO DANGEROUS.THIS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR.
I WAS RECENTLY PULLING A TRAVEL TRAILER DOWN A MOUNTAIN PASS WITH MY 2016 F150 WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE LOSING POWER TO THE MOTOR, THE TRAVEL TRAILER STARTED 'FISH TAILING'!! THE 2 VEHICLES BEHIND ME LOCKED UP THEIR BRAKES (COULD VISIBLY SEE SMOKE), THE THIRD VEHICLE WAS SLOWER TO REACT AND PULLED OUT AND PASSED ALL 3 OF US NARROWLY AVOIDING A HEAD ON COLLISION! I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE SERVICE SHOP AND IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WAS REPLACED....FOR THE 4TH TIME IN 94,000 MILES!!! THE PREVIOUS 2 TIMES THIS HAPPENED TO ME THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED (VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE), BUT THOSE TIMES I WAS DRIVING 75MPH DOWN A 5 LANE FREEWAY AND HAD TO CROSSOVER 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER TO MY ENGINE! VEHICLES SWERVING EVERYWHERE, PEOPLE LOCKING UP THEIR BRAKES....MINOR MIRACLE THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS. I'VE FILED COMPLAINTS TO FORD ON EACH OCCASION AND THEY'VE DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT! IT'S A COMMON, WELL KNOWN PROBLEM THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND SOMEBODY IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE! ASKING FOR HELP!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD WITH THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUTONATION FORD ST. PETERSBURG (2525 34TH STREET NORTH, ST. PETERSBURG, FL 33713) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
FORD HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER FAILING IN THESE TRUCKS. MINE HAS CLEARLY FAILED DUE TO THIS ISSUE, AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS NEARLY KILLED ON THE INTERSTATE AS A RESULT. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY AGREE THAT THIS IS THE SAME MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER ISSUE THAT FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED AS A KNOWN ISSUE. BUT MAGICALLY MY TRUCK IS NOT INCLUDED AS PART OF THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH ITS A 2016 FORD F-150 3.5 ECOBOOST BUILT IN KANSAS CITY. ALL THE PARAMETERS FOR THE RECALL SEEM TO MATCH MY VEHICLE PRECISELY BUT YET SOMEHOW IT MAGICALLY IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. FORD REFUSES TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NOW I AM OUT $500 OUT OF MY OWN POCKET BECAUSE FORD REFUSES TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THIS KNOWN SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME. FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES AND WITH HOW MANY NEW COMPLAINTS I SEE FILED HERE WEEKLY FOR THIS SAME ISSUE THE NHTSA SHOULD ALSO STEP UP AND FORCE FORD TO EXPAND THE RECALL BECAUSE CLEARLY NOT ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED AT THIS POINT. I CANNOT SAY IT ENOUGH, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. ME AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY WERE NEARLY KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS ISSUE. IT IS APPALLING TO ME THAT FORD AND THE NHSTA HAVE NOT DONE MORE TO RECTIFY THIS VERY DANGEROUS AND DEADLY PROBLEM. NEXT STEPS I SEE IN THE NEAR FUTURE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD FOR IGNORING THIS WELL KNOWN ISSUE. THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED AND FORD SHOULD TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY ARE REFUSING BECAUSE IT ISN'T PART OF THE "RECALL". SHAME ON YOU FORD!
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ENGINE LOST COMPLETE POWER, BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART IT. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER ON SATURDAY AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. I WAS ABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT ON MONDAY, BUT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN ABOUT 10 TIMES OVER THE WEEKEND. IN MY OPINION THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL AS THIS ISSUE COULD OCCUR WHILE PASSING ON A NARROW TOW LANE ROAD, GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, CROSSING A RAILROAD TRACK, ETC.,. FROM AN INTERNET RESEARCH I I FOUND THAT FORD HAS ISSUED TSB 16-0139 ON OCTOBER 10, 2016 AND THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMMENTS FROM OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IN FACT THE MAINTENANCE MANAGER AT FORD TOLD ME THIS HAD HAPPENED TO HIM TWICE.
After doing extensive research on the 2016 3.5L F150 eco-boost exhaust manifold failure, it seems that this is a very common issue. Especially when both sides are warped, it lends to the consideration that a design flaw involving a restriction of the front cylinders increases pressure to the point of failure.
MY 2016 FORD F150 3.5L ECOBOOST DIDN'T HAVE ITS VIN TAGGED FOR THE LEAKING BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RECALL. REFERENCE 20S31. MY TRUCK WAS BUILT AT THE DEARBORN PLANT AND MATCHES EVERY SINGLE PARAMETER FOR THE RECALL. I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK DOWN A COLORADO HIGHWAY AT A HIGH ELEVATION. MY BRAKES STARTED SOFTENING AND FELT ALMOST NO PRESSURE IN THE PEDAL. MY BRAKE FLUID LOW WARNING CAME ON MY DASHBOARD ALONG WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT INDICATOR. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A STORE TO PURCHASE BRAKE FLUID. WITHIN 5 MILES OF DRIVING AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK THE WARNINGS WENT OFF AGAIN MY BRAKES WEAKENED. IT WAS VERY TERRIFYING WITH HAVING MY PARTNER AND TWO DOGS IN THE CAR WITH ME. I SPOKE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY WON'T COVER THESE REPAIRS. THIS IS AFTER I MENTIONED MY LIFE BEING IN DANGER JUST TRYING TO GET TO WORK. I HAD THE TRUCK INSPECTED BY A CREDIBLE MECHANIC WHICH TOLD ME THAT THE ISSUE MATCHES THE RECALL DETAILS PERFECTLY. AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF THICK EXHAUST WAS BEING EXPELLED FROM THE TRUCK ON THE SECOND DAY OF NOTICING BRAKE FAILURE. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DANGER OR HARM THAT COMES TO ME SINCE THEY HAVE TURNED ME AWAY JUST BECAUSE OF MY VIN NOT MATCHING.

THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT HIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN PLACED UNDER NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 20V332000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE ARE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED BILL BRANDT FORD (8100 BRENTWOOD BLVD, BRENTWOOD, CA 94513) WHERE THEY REFERRED HIM TO THE MANUFACTURER. I ARRIVED HOME AND ADDED MORE FLUID TO THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKED AND IT IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO GO DOWN. THERE WERE NO VISIBLE BRAKE FLUID LEAKS ANYWHERE. UNDER FURTHER INVESTIGATION A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED TO TRUCKS MADE AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE SAME ISSUES. MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL SO FORD WON'T DOING ANYTHING WITH THIS OBVIOUS MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. DROVE TRUCK TO AIRPORT ON 6/9, ALL WAS WELL. ON 6/14 WE RETURNED TO OUR TRUCK. UPON BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND HAD TO PRESS THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. HEARD A WARNING CHIME AND A DASHBOARD WARNING APPEARED STATING BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. CHECKED BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WHICH WAS ALMOST EMPTY. LIMPED TO 7/11 WHILE MANUALLY DOWNSHIFTING AND ADDED TWO BOTTLES OF FLUID. BRAKE FUNCTIONALITY WAS RESTORED FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES AND THEN EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AND WARNINGS AS BEFORE WHILE DRIVING 30MPH AND NOT APPLYING THE BRAKES TOO OFTEN. I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT 75 MPH WHEN THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I IMMEDIATELY EXITED AND WHILE BRAKING, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT NEARLY ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKE LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I PULLED INTO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND PURCHASED BRAKE FLUID. IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY 20 OUNCES TO FILL THE RESERVOIR. AFTER FILLING, THE WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF, BUT THE BRAKING PEDAL WAS STILL NOT FIRM. ONCE I GOT TO MY DESTINATION, I PARKED THE CAR FOR 3 HOURS AND WHEN I LEFT, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I PUT ANOTHER 12 OUNCES OF BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR AND IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AT NO TIME DID I OBSERVE ANY BRAKE FLUID ON THE GROUND. UPON INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED AND WAS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FAILURE AS THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND THE LOSS OF BRAKES WAS IMMEDIATE. THE VEHICLE HAS 52,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
PANORAMIC SUNROOF 2ND REPAIR, 1ST AT 35,000 MILES TO REPLACE GUIDES UNDER WARRANTY, NOW AT 57,000 TRACKS AND GUIDE NEED TO BE REPLACED COST OF $4,000. THE SUNROOF DOES NOT OPERATE WHILE MOTIONLESS OR IN MOTION. *TR
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to open the sunroof, the sunroof failed to open and made an abnormal powerful roaring sound. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact of a Class Action Lawsuit being opened regarding the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
The back up camera has been sporadic for over a year, sometimes it is vertical digit multicolor lines, sometimes it is very dark and "over contrasted", sometimes it is a blue screen, and then sometimes it works perfectly. It started last summer, but before I got around to fixing it, winter came and it worked perfectly until spring. There is a recall for 2020 vehicles experiencing the same problems, so where is my justice? I might add, there is a recall on Ford back up cameras and I had to select "other"? I would think if you know there is a problem with a back up camera that it should at least be an option!

HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THROTTLE BODY WENT BAD. REPAIR WAS $575.00. THEY CLAIMED THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WAS A FIELD SERVICE RECALL ON THIS MODEL TRUCK AND THIS PART A YEAR AFTER THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW WITH PREVIOUS OWNER. WE ARE THE SECOND OWNERS. KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS UNTIL NOW. WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT FIELD SERVICE RECALLS EXPIRE. PREVIOUS OWNER MAY HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM TO TAKE IT IN AND HAVE IT CHECKED. ONE OF THE OLD RECALL NUMBERS I RESEARCHED WAS 16B32, THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHERS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS LAWSUITS AGAINST FORD FOR THIS PART GOING BAD. I WAS MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY 44 IN ST. LOUIS FROM LINDBERG BLVD. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO ALLOW AN 18 WHEELER TO PASS. SUDDENLY THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH AND THE PARKING BRAKE. I STARTED LOSING PRESSURE ON MY BRAKE PEDDLE AS IT WENT ALMOST COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. FRA ADVISED THAT DUE TO COVID 19 NO PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE. NO ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE IN WILCOX AZ. SMITH FORD SERVICE DOES NOT OPEN UNTIL MONDAY. I HAD TO WALK ALONE IN THE DESERT TO FIND A HOTEL. I EVENTUALLY WALKED ANOTHER 2 MILES PULLING A SUITCASE TO A GRAYHOUND STATION TO PHOENIX SUNDAY (274 MILES).I WILL CONTACT DEALER TOMORROW.FORD HAS BEEN AWARE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE ETB 2015 & 2016 F150. PULLED OVER AT A GAS STATION, TURNED THE TRUCK OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED WITH NO CHANGE. SWITCHED OFF TRACTION CONTROL AND IT ACTUALLY DID IMPROVE SOME THE REST OF MY DRIVE HOME. GOT HOME, PARKED, TURNED IT OFF. 15 MINUTES LATER GOT IN WITH MY 6 YEAR OLD SON AND 15 YEAR OLD NIECE, PULLED OUT ONTO HIGHWAY AND STEERING TOTALLY LOCKED UP MID TURN. MY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDDLE, AFTER EXITING A BUSY STREET ONTO A COMMERCIAL DRIVEWAY. THE PEDDLE BOTTOMED-OUT AND I HAD VERY LITTLE BRAKING POWER. I WAS TRAVELING AT VERY LOW SPEED AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP BY ENGAGING THE PARK BRAKE. THE MASTER CYLINDER/RESERVOIR WAS NEAR DEPLETED. I WAS UNABLE TO FIND EVIDENCE OF BRAKE FLUID LEAK UNDER THE HOOD OR UNDER THE VEHICLE. I REFILLED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND OPERATED THE VEHICLE AT THE "OFF-STREET" LOT WHERE THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED. AFTER SEVERAL APPLICATIONS OF THE BRAKES, THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LOW AGAIN. I REFILLED IT AND DROVE HOME (NEAR BY). AGAIN, I HAD TO ENGAGE THE PARK BRAKE IN ORDER TO COME TO A STOP IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS NEAR EMPTY AND AGAIN I WAS UNABLE TO FIND A LEAK. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP (HTTPS://WWW.SOUTHWAYFORD.COM/). I'M AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC RESULT. UNTIL NOW, I WAS UNAWARE OF THE ISSUES (2013 F 150 & 2014 F 150 RECALL; CURRENT INVESTIGATIONS FOR YEARS 2015 - 2018) SURROUNDING THIS PROBLEM. MEANWHILE, I HAVE TO PAY FOR RELATED EXPENSES (TOWING, DIAGNOSTICS, PARTS AND REPAIR).
27 APRIL 2020 - ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AT SPEED MULTIPLE TIMES, NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ON ONLY "ORANGE WRENCH" INDICATING 4X4 PROBLEM (PER THE MANUAL). VEHICLE WOULD RESTART ONE FIRST COUPLE OF OCCASIONS, WOULD NOT RESTART SUBSEQUENTLY, CRANKING TIMEOUT OCCURRED. WAITED ABOUT 15 MINUTES, VEHICLE RESTARTED AND LEFT IN PARK RUNNING WHILE WAITING FOR TOW TRUCK. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO MUZI FORD IN NEEDHAM MA FOR EVALUATION. CURRENT DATE IS 28 APRIL 2020. THIS EVENT COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. WEATHER - RAIN ABOUT 45F, MORNING AROUND 8-9AM
REMOTE STARTED MY 2016 F150, TRUCK RAN NO MORE THAN 5 MIN. I WAS ABOUT TEN FEET AWAY WALKING TOWARD THE VEHICLE, I HEARD A LOUD BANG LIKE A GUN SHOT, STARTING LOOKING AROUND AND FOUND MY REAR SLIDER WINDOW SHATTERED. I NEVER USE THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST FUNCTION. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS I FOUND OUT WHEN YOU REMOTE START THIS VEHICLE IT TURNS THE DEFROST ON. I HAVE HAD A VEHICLES WITH REAR WINDOW DEFROST, NEVER HAD ONE DO THIS. IT WAS PRETTY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THANKFUL MY GRANDCHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE REAR SEAT AT THE TIME. ( VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY ) THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE REAR WINDOWS ON THESE TRUCKS.
DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG COVER SPLIT OPEN EXPOSING THE AIRBAG. THIS WAS NOT THE RESULT OF A COLLISION. APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY COVER.
AS I WAS TRAVELLING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, A LOW BRAKE FLUID NOTIFICATION APPEARED ON MY DISPLAY. ADDITIONALLY I SAW THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I STOPPED AND OPENED THE HOOD TO VERIFY THE EMPTY BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR . ONCE VERIFIED I REFILLED BY PURCHASING A 32 OZ BOTTLE OF DOT4 BRAKE FLUID. ONCE REFILLED WITH ALMOST THE WHOLE BOTTLE, THE BRAKE PRESSURE MOMENTARILY RETURNED. HOWEVER UPON RETURNING TO THE HIGHWAY, I FELT THE BRAKE PRESSURE GO AWAY AGAIN AND THE LOW FLUID LIGHT RE-LIT WITHIN 10 MINUTES. I THEN WENT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT ANOTHER 10 MILES AWAY. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE BRAKE PRESSURE THE WHOLE WAY. I ONLY HAD ABOUT AN INCH OF PLAY AND HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES SEVERAL SECONDS (5-10) EARLIER THAN NORMAL. THE FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AND REPORTED THE FOLLOWING "TECH CHECK ON CUSTOMER CONCERN, BRAKE FLUID RESERVOR EMPTY, PUT VEHICLE ON HOIST CHECK FOR EXTERNAL LEAKS , NO EXTERNAL LEAKS , REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND FOUND ALL BRAKE FLUID LEAK INTO BRAKE BOOSTER, BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING INTO BRAKE BOOSTER, NEED TO REPLACE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, AND BRAKE BOOSTER THAT IS CONTAMINATED WITH BRAKE FLUID"
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SLOWLY DECELERATED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT PULLED INTO THE RESIDENCE AND THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE CONTACT DROVE 10 MPH TO EARNHARDT FORD (7300 W ORCHID LN, CHANDLER, AZ 85226), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE BLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,500.
