WHILE DRIVING IN A REMOTE AREA NO TREES, PEOPLE OR ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE HIT THE WINDOW, WHEN THE REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED. THE EVIDENCE SEEMS TO POINT TOWARDS THE REAR DEFROST HEATING ELEMENTS GETTING TOO HOT. ITS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE HEAT DEFROST WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES 55 DEGREES AND SUNNY. THE FIX IS NOT COMPLETE YET BUT I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT SAFELITE AUTO TO GET THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. I CALLED FORD, THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE'S NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR IS $679.00.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DROVE AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAC HAIK FORD (10333 KATY FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77024, (713) 932-5000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAD FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE. WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON THAT I WAS LOW ON BRAKE FLUID WHILE DRIVING ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY BETWEEN TOWNS. AFTER HITTING OK, RED BRAKE LIGHT WARNING REMAINED ON. WITHIN A MINUTE I LOST MOST BRAKING ABILITY. I PULLED OVER BUT SAW NO LEAKS UNDER THE TRUCK. WALKED TO A NAPA DEALER AND BOUGHT BRAKE FLUID AND FILLED RESERVOIR. GOT SOME BRAKE ABILITY BACK BUT WITH IN A FEW MINUTES, BRAKE PEDEL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND VERY MINIMAL BRAKING ABILITY. STILL NO LEAK FOUND UNDER THE TRUCK. I CAN NOT USE THE TRUCK WITH LIMITED BRAKES. FORD RECALL #20S31 SHOULD INCLUDE MY 2016 MODEL BUT FOR SOME REASON DOES NOT- EVEN THOUGH MODEL, MAKE, YEAR AND SYMPTOMS THE SAME AS OUTLINED IN THE RECALL. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO HAVE BEEN INVOVED IN A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT.
MISSING/LOOSE BOLTS UNDER DRIVER SEAT MAKES THE SEAT WOBBLY/ ALSO LOOSE BOLTS ON THE RECLINING BACK MAKES IT SHIFT/RECLINES FURTHER BACK.
DOORS WILL LOCK BUT UNLOCK WITH KEY AFTER PUSHING BUTTON ON KEY ONLY ONE DOOR WILL UNLOCK
AFTER PARKING, SHUT MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND THE REAR WINDSHIELD STARTED TO CRACK AND FALL APART. NOTICED MY REAR DEFROSTER MELTED THE REAR WINDOW DECAL. AFTER ONLINE RESEARCH I BELIEVE I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM OTHERS DRIVERS HAVE HAD WITH A DEFECTIVE REAR DEFROSTER THAT OVER HEATS THE REAR WINDOW AND HEAT STRESSES IT TO A POINT WHERE A SIMPLE DOOR SHUTTING ACTION WILL BE ENOUGH TO CRACK AND SHATTER THE WINDSHIELD.
Engine Stalls (at low RPMs) mostly when stopping at traffic lights, not as bad if Im able to put in Park (it will still idle rough. but, not as likely to completely stall). I have noticed This is more likely after driving at higher speeds (70mph - 85mph) for prolonged periods of time (1hr - 6hrs). I bought the truck 4yrs ago, with 78k on it.
THE DRIVER DOOR CAME OPEN AND WOULDN'T CLOSE. I HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE I DROVE HOME ALMOST 40 MILES AWAY!!! IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO HOLD BECAUSE IT KEPT WANTING TO FLY OPEN. THIS FIRST HAPPENED WHEN I GOT IN MY TRUCK TO LEAVE MY FARM, BUT I HAD NO OPTION OTHER THAN TO DRIVE HOME TRYING TO HOLD THE DOOR SHUT.
THE LUG NUTS ARE IN TWO PARTS AND THE DIFFERENT PARTS TEND TO SEPARATE FROM EACH OTHER, NOT ALLOWING YOU TO REMOVE THE LUG NUTS TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE. I WAS CHANGING THE BRAKES ON THE TRUCK SO I WAS STATIONARY BUT COULD NOT REMOVE THE TIRE DUE THE LUG NUT.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUD BOLT BROKEN ON REAR OF DRIVERS SIDE MANIFOLD. MAKES A LOUD CHIRPING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING. MANY OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT SAME ISSUE ON THIS ECO BOOST 3.5L ENGINE.
THE TRUCK MAKES A LOUD TRANSMISSION SQUALL UNDER LOAD IN A DOWNSHIFT. THIS IS A CONSISTENT ISSUE THAT FORD AND THE LOCAL DEALER CONTINUE TO SAY THEY CANNOT REPEAT. ANYTIME I DRIVE THE TRUCK IN TERRAIN IT HAPPENS. AND I DO NOT OFF ROAD THE VEHICLE, BEFORE YOU START ASKING THOSE QUESTIONS. ALSO WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS COLD/AMBIENT TEMP, THE SHIFTING IS INCREDIBLY ROUGH, AND JERKY. NOT JUST A LITTLE BUT THE WHOLE TRUCK WILL LUNGE. THIS IS A 5.0 V8 TRUCK, NOT LIGHT AND FOR IT LUNG IS DISTURBING. I AM SURE IF THIS HAPPENS IN CLOSE TRAFFIC SOMEONE WILL HIT SOMETHING. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.
MY 2016 FORD F150 RECENTLY STARTED WHISTLING AT THE 2500RPM POINT FROM THE FRONT END OF THE MY TRUCK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP EXPECTING A VACUUM HOSE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAD WARPED AND BROKE OFF SOME OF THE MOUNTING BOLTS. I WAS A BIT SHOCKED SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS 102,000 MILES ON IT AND IT'S NOT BEEN ABUSED IN ANYWAY. UNFORTUNATELY, THE FACTORY WARRANTY RUNS OUT AT 100,000 MILES AND ON THE HOOK FOR THE COST OF THIS $1600+ (SO FAR) REPAIR. AFTER DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET IT DID NOT TAKE ME LONG TO DISCOVER THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE. THERE WERE A MULTITUDE OF WEBSITES AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS ADDRESSING THIS KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FOLKS QUITE UPSET THAT AN OFFICIAL RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED YET WITH A PROPER FIX/REPLACEMENT AND REIMBURSE THE OWNERS WHO HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR THE FIX. SEEMS LIKE IT'S NOT A MATTER OF IF IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOUR TRUCK...BUT WHEN. VERY DISAPPOINTING, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HEAR HOW MANY KNOWN ISSUES HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPORTED. EXHAUST FUMES LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE AND POSSIBLY INTO THE CAB...SHOULD TAKE A HIGH PRIORITY TO RESOLVE. LET'S GO FORD...MAKE IT RIGHT! THANK YOU.
WHILE DRIVING ON SUBURBAN HIGHWAY THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING ALERTED AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL INCREASED AND EVENTUALLY LOST ALMOST ALL BRAKING EFFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND LEAKED INTO THE BOOSTER. A CHECK OF THE VIN INDICATED THAT IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXISTING RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS LOOSE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND CHECK THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR AND BECAME AWARE THAT THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW. THE CONTACT REACHED OUT TO AUTONATION FORD BRADENTON (5325 14TH STREET WEST, BRADENTON, FL 34207 (941) 275-1267) AND INQUIRED WHAT BRAKE FLUID WAS RECOMMENDED FOR USE IN THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE FLUID WAS PURCHASED AND THE RESERVOIR WAS TOPPED OFF. THE CONTACT RE-ENTERED AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT RE-CHECKED THE BRAKE RESERVOIR AND BECAME AWARE THAT THE RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE RESIDENCE AND THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED FROM THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE CONTACT WAS QUOTED A COST FOR THE REPAIRS AND WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE HAD EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO ASSIST FINANCIALLY WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,120.
THE STEERING ON MY 2016 FORD F-150 WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ALMOST MAKING ME CRASH I LOST CONTROL OF MY TRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL WAS REALLY HARD FOR ME TO TURN LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME SAFE I HAVE A HOLE BUNCH OF LIGHT ON MY DASH COMING ON SAY STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE STEERING
THE ENGINE HAD BEEN DYING AT STOP SIGNS, RED LIGHTS, AND IN PARKING LOTS UP TO THIS POINT (IN DRIVE OR PARK) BUT ENDED UP STALLING EIGHT OR NINE TIMES ON THE INTERSTATE COMING THROUGH ATLANTA RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THIS ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS WHILE I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS WORKED TO REPAIR THE ISSUE TWICE SO FAR. I HAVE MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY PLAN TO REPLACE THE VCT SOLENOIDS NEXT. FORD SHOULD ADMIT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND INITIATE A RECALL TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE ON ALL THESE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
WHILE TOWING A TRAVEL TRAILER, MY 2016 FORD F-150 2.7L ECOBOOST ENGINE EXHIBITS INTERMITTENT ENGINE STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND/OR AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO GUN THE ENGINE AFTER RESTARTING TO KEEP IT RUNNING. NOTE: THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN TOWING.
ADVANCETRAC CAME ON HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE CAME ON MOTOR DIDN'T DIE BUT THE GAS WOULDN'T WORK SO I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT AND THEN IT DIDN'T WANT TO START AFTER IT RESTARTED IT GOES AWAY AND YOU CAN CONTINUE TO DRIVE IDK WHAT IT COULD BE BUT I FIND IT VERY DANGEROUS IT'S HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN 2 DAYS
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LATCH ALL THE TIME WHEN CLOSED. CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE WITH TEMPS IN THE HIGH 40'S AND HAD NOT BEEN IN ANY WET WEATHER OR WASHED IN 4 DAYS. SHUT IT 5 TIMES AND IT WOULD JUST BOUNCE BACK OPENED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AND OFF SINCE WE OWNED THE TRUCK(1-2019). HAPPENS MORE OFTEN IN COOLER WEATHER. HAVE TALKED TO THE FORD DEALER SINCE 1-2019 AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL AND TO USE PENETRATING OIL ON THE LATCH. WHICH HAS NOT HELPED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF, ONE OF THE RAILINGS FOR THE MOON ROOF FRACTURED CAUSING THE MOON ROOF TO REMAIN IN A PARTIALLY OPENED POSITION AND NO LONGER ABLE TO CLOSE PROPERLY. THE CONTACT CONTACTED SHARP MOTOR COMPANY INC (1516 W COLLEGE ST, PULASKI, TN 38478, (931)363-2533) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
BRAKES WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING, SEEMS TO BE PART OF AN ISSUE FORD IS AWARE OF.
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE THE TIMING IS OFF. HESITATES AS YOU ROLL AT 50 OR 60MPH. THEN WHEN YOU EXIT FREEWAY AND ARE STOPPED AT LIGHT THE IDLE BECOMES ROUGH AND DROPS BELOW 500RPM. SEVERAL TIMES THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. THE PREVIOUS OWNER NOTICED IT AS WELL AND SHE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET CHECKED. DEALER SAID THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO ERROR CODE SO CAN'T FIX IT. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER AFTER PURCHASE AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM WHAT TO LOOK FOR. FORD F150 OWNERS BOARD HAS LIST OF MANY PEOPLE WITH SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2014-2016 ERA TRUCKS. FIXES FROM THEIR POST SHOW REPLACEMENT OF 2 NEW CAM PHASERS AND NEW VCT SOLENOIDS REPAIRS THE ISSUE. VCT HAD LOCKED UP AND ALLOWED THE CAM TO JUMP BY TWO TEETH. SO VCT FAILURE WAS CAUSING THE TIMING TO BE OFF WHICH IS THE EFFECT I AM EXPERIENCING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE STALLING UPON STOPPING AT OFF RAMP LIGHT IS BECAUSE THE TIMING IS OFF. FORD WILL NOT REPAIR UNLESS CEL IS ON HOWEVER. I TOLD SERVICE TEAM MEMBER MY CONCERN ABOUT TAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC AND HAVING THE ENGINE STALL MID LANE AND GETTING T-BONED.
WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK I STARTED SMELLING SMOKE. AS I MADE A TURN I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE REAR SEAT. I TRIED PULLING OVER ASAP BUT HAD TO DRIVE ANOTHER 100 YARDS. A LOUD BANG WENT OFF WHEN I PULLED OVER. AS I EXIT THE CAR I FOUND MY REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED INTO THOUSAND OF PIECES. MY TRUCK SMELL LIKE A FIRE AND WINDOW DAMAGE IS VERY DANGEROUS.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the backup camera and vehicle alert system would intermittently malfunction causing a visibility and safety hazard for the driver while in reverse. Also, the defrost system was intermittently faulty. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the failure listed was due to a faulty Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) computer system and the system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 75,000.

THE CONTACT STATED HE HAD TO SWERVE FROM COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS APPLIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED TO PARK AND TURNED OFF. THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND UPON OPENING THE HOOD DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE PARKED THE VEHICLE AND WENT TO AUTOZONE FOR BRAKE FLUID. THE BRAKE FLUID WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE BRAKES WAS OPERATIONAL. THE CONTACT DROVE TO HIS RESIDENCE, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE PARKING BRAKE APPLIED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE REOCCURRED WHILE STOPPING ON A HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V332000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE PART TO REMEDY THE FAILURE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FRITTS FORD (8000 AUTO DR, RIVERSIDE, CA 92504) WHERE IT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000.
DOOR LATCHES 'FREEZE' AND WILL NOT ENGAGE IN COLD WEATHER (VEHICLE IS PARKED OUTSIDE AND IN COLD WEATHER THIS IS FREQUENT PROBLEM). THIS PROBLEM HAD PREVIOUS RECALL / REPAIR BUT FIX IS NOT WORKING. REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER DOES NOT WORK IN ONE SECTION OF 3 PART WINDOW (HAS ONE PART OF THREE SECTION - SECTION ON DRIVERS SIDE). VEHICLE HAS 30,000 MILES. WINDOW SECTIONS THAT DO WORK GET HOT
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. ENTERED VEHICLE IN MORNING AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. POPPED HOOD AND CHECKED FLUID (FINE). GOT BACK IN VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO MOVE IT A FEW FEET - PUMPED BRAKES - NO STOPPING FORCE - AFTER 2 - 3 PUMPS THE BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON - STOPPED ENGINE AND RECHECKED FLUID (HAD DROPPED ABOUT 1 INCH - WAS NOT BELOW MIN) - BIG POOL OF BRAKE FLUID UNDER RH FRONT WHEEL. HAD (DAY BEFORE) JUST COMPLETED LONG TRIP THROUGH MOUNTAINS (STEEP CANYONS) - FEEL LUCKY TO BE ALIVE!
LOSING BREAK FLUID, NO VISIBLE AREAS UNDERNEATH TRUCK INDICATING BUSTED LINE. ATTEMPTED TO FILL LINE WITH UP TO 64OZ, FLUID KEPT DISAPPEARING. MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY CERTIFIED FORD DEALER FOR ENTIRETY OF THE TRUCKS LIFE. I HAVE READ ONLINE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH RECALLS FOR SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE.
I STARTED MY CAR WITH REMARK START AROUND 7:25 AM GOT INTO THE TRUCK AT 7:30 DRIVE TO WORK PARKED AND WHEN I CAME BACK FROM WORK THE REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. MY TRUCK HAS CLAIMANT CONTROL AND SEEMS TO HAVE TURNED ON DEFROSTERS IN THE MORNING.
THE VEHICLE STALLS BETWEEN SHIFTS. IT HAS HAPPENED AT ALL SPEEDS. FREEWAY, PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVE. IT HAS STALLED WHILE IM TRYING TO TURN LEFT IN FRONT OF UNCOMING TRAFFIC. NUMEROUS WARNING LIGHTS FILL THE DASH. NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. AFTER YOU CAN PULL IT OVER, TURN IT OFF, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, THEN RESTART IT RUNS FINE. TIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN OUT OF THE BLUE. IVE HAD IT INTO MY FORD DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW AND THEY STILL CANT FIX IT. HAPPENED JUST YESTERDAY, ABOUT GOT HIT BY AN ON COMING VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, JUST A SHUTTER AND IM LEFT ROLLING WITH NO POWER. ITS HAPPENED PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. ITS HAPPENED TURNING INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. FORD WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AGAIN 3 TIMES IN THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ALWAYS SAY "WITHOUT A TROUBLE CODE THERES NOTHIJG WE CAN DO". THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER, PENDING REPAIRS BY A THIRD-PARTY WARRANTY COMPANY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,850.
I EXPERIENCED COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE IN MY TRUCK. THE FAILURE OCCURED WHILE THE TRUCK WAS STATIONARY. I DROVE AT LOW SPEEDS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA THE NIGHT PRIOR AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIMINISHED BRAKING FUNCTION. THE NEXT MORNING, I STARTED THE TRUCK AND OBSERVED THE BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT AND NO RESISTANCE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THERE WERE NO VISIBLE LEAKS FROM ANY OF THE BRAKE LINES BUT THE BRAKE FLUID RESEVOIR WAS EMPTY. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS A FAILURE OF THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER, VIA LEAKING ALL BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS FAILURE IS CONSISTENT WITH THE 20S31 RECALL, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT REPORTED AS BEING EFFETED BY THIS RECALL. I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE MAY BE MORE VEHICLES OUT THERE THAT ARE EFFECTED BY THIS FAULTY PART. MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A FORD DEALER, AND WE OPENED A INCIDENT REPORT WITH FORD BUT THEY DECLINED ANY RESPONSIBLITY FOR THIS FAILURE.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SPONTANEOUSLY DEVELOPED A LEAK CAUSING SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED BRAKING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE PEDAL BECAME VERY SOFT AND WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOORBOARD. THIS IS THE VERY PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN RECALL 20V-332, BUT MY MANUFACTURING DATE IS 9 DAYS PAST THE CUT-OFF WINDOW OF AUGUST 1, 2016. THERE ARE PROBABLY MORE TRUCKS OUT THERE LIKE MINE WAITING TO FAIL.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F150. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the rear defroster was activated and the rear window shattered. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the mechanic found no cause for the failure. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 126,000.
Both rear taillights fill up with water and shorts out the light bulbs. This makes the brake lights and turn lights non-functional. The taillights were replaced with OEM Ford parts and the new ones leaked as the previous ones. The water in the taillight assemblies could short out the wiring harness and the computer tied to it. The corrosion and rust on the wiring harness could cause fault codes up and down the wiring harness. Research online shows this is a common problem in late model Ford F-150. This problem must be fixed by Ford.
ON 9/6/2020, WHILE DRIVING APPROX 60MPH ON HWY 128 BETWEEN JAL AND CARLSBAD NM, THE BRAKE PEDAL ON MY 2016 FORD F150 LARIAT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD NO BRAKES. A MESSAGE ON MY DASH CAME UP SAYING TO ADD BRAKE FLUID AND I DID. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP, CARSLBAD FORD LINCOLN. THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER HAD A RECALL AND WAS REPLACED, BUT THE BRAKE FLUID THAT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE WAS NEVER ADDRESSED BY THE SERVICE AND REPAIR CENTER. AS A RESULT, I NOW HAVE OVER $6,000 WORTH OF COLLATERAL DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO FIX BECAUSE I'M BEING BLAMED FOR THE DAMAGES FOR ADDING BRAKE FLUID TO THE RESEVOIR. IT'S BEYOND OBVIOUS THAT THE ONLY WAY ANY BRAKE FLUID LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE WAS DUE TO THE DAMAGED MANUFACTURER PART(S), THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BOOSTER, THAT WERE NOT ONLY DAMAGED BUT IN RECALL STATUS - RECALL# 20S31. THE GM AND SERVICE MANAGER OF THE CARSLBAD FORD LINCOLN DEALERSHIP HAVE THE POWER, THE SUPPORT AND BACKING OF A BEHEMOTH. THEY HAVE THE FULL SUPPORT OF THE GREAT AMERICAN AUTO GIANT FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND I HAVE 100% NOTHING AND NOBODY! THERE HAS TO BE SOME LAW OR SOME THING TO PROTECT YOUR EVERYDAY INNOCENT TAX PAYING AMERICAN CITIZEN FROM BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR THESE POWERFUL ENTITES AND/OR COMPANIES. I'M WRITING THIS COMPLAINT ON 9/27 AND THEY'VE HAD MY TRUCK SINCE 9/12; JUST OVER TWO WEEKS. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT. I STARTED TO BACK UP AND FOUND I HAD NO BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK THEN RAN INTO THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING BEHIND THE TRUCK. THE BRAKES WERE CHECKED BY LIEUT. EDWARDS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND HE FOUND IT THERE WERE NO BRAKES AND THERE WAS NO FLUID IN THE MASTER CYLINDER. I OBSERVED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR FOR THE FRONT BRAKES WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AND THE RESERVOIR FOR THE REAR BRAKES HAD SLIGHTLY VISIBLE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR. PRIOR TO THE EVENT THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ON THE DASHBOARD OR ANY OTHER WARNING THAT THE BRAKES WERE GOING TO FAIL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO COMPLETELY TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN PUSHED. THE FORD F150 BUMPER WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED AND THE PARKED CAR WAS SLIGHTLY DAMAGED. WE ARE NOW IN THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTH GEORGIA AND IF HAD WE BEEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD TO THE VALLEY WE POSSIBLY BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE. I REPORTED A PREVIOUS EVENT WITH THIS TRUCK TO YOU FOLKS LAST YEAR RELATING TO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ON THE TRUCK CAUSING A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN OF THE VEHICLE. AT THAT TIME I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN ROAD AND FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE AT THAT TIME WAS TOWED AWAY FOR REPAIRS AS WE DID THIS TIME AFTER THE BRAKE FAILURE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE BREAK FLUID RESERVOIRS HAVE LEVEL INDICATORS THAT SHOULD GIVE SOME WARNING. THEY APPARENTLY ARE INOPERABLE.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED LOCKING UP IN CYCLE, FULL SPEED OR INTERMITTENT MODE. REPLACED $150.00 WIPER MOTOR MYSELF, CURED PROBLEM. VEHICLE ONLY HAD 48,000 MILES, COULD HAVE STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AT ANY TIME, VERY DANGEROUS.
I ERRATICALLY SIMULTANEOUSLY RECEIVE A WARNING THAT ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL IS INOPERATIVE & COLLISION AVOIDANCE IS INOPERATIVE. BOTH INDICATE SENSOR IS BLOCKED WHEN IT IS CLEARLY NOT THE CASE. ALSO RECEIVE ARBITRARY COLLISION WARNINGS. BOTH OCCUR WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE VICINITY. THE SYSTEMS WORKS FINE MOST OF THE TIME BUT THEN THE PROBLEM APPEARS "OUT OF NOWHERE". SEEMS TO BE OCCURRING IN ALL FORD MODELS WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE/COLLISION WARNING. MAY HAPPEN ON THE INTERSTATE OR IN TOWN. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS CONDITION ON THE INTERNET. STOPPING, SHUTTING DOWN, AND RESTARTING WILL "FIX" THE PROBLEM FOR AN HOUR OR SO OR MAYBE EVEN A FEW DAYS UNTIL IT OCCURS AGAIN. AGAIN, THE SENSOR IS NOT BLOCKED. I CAN'T FIND A SAFETY RECALL OR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM.

VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING BOTH FROM A STOP AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT WHICH SEEMED TO TEMPORARILY SOLVE THE PROBLEM ONLY TO HAVE IT REOCCUR DAYS LATER. ENGINE CODE REGISTERED ON THE DASH DISPLAY. CODE WAS RETRIEVED (P2112) WHICH CORRELATES TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY REPLACEMENT, BUT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, SO I WAS FORCED TO REPLACE IT MYSELF AND PAY FOR THE FAULTY PART. MY VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 36,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. WHEN THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER IN TRAFFIC, IT IS DEFINITELY A LIFE, HEALTH, SAFETY ISSUE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS EXAMPLES THAT CAN BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART/THROTTLE BODY ON VARIOUS FORD VEHICLES. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD INITIATE A RECALL FOR OBVIOUS SAFETY REASONS. FORD HAS PUT OUT VARIOUS TSB'S REGARDING THIS DOCUMENTED PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY ON 8/30/20, THE TRUCK EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF FORWARD MOTION, BEGAN "BUCKING" AND CODES AND WARNINGS STARTED APPEARING ON THE DASHBOARD. WERE ABLE INITIALLY TO COAST TO A SAFER LOCATION TO STOP. TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF, RESTARTED AND ALL CODES DISAPPEARED. HOWEVER, AS SOON AS WE STARTED AGAIN, WITHIN A QUARTER MILE, SAME FAILURE OCCURRED. IN 20 MILES, THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 6 MORE TIMES AND WE COULD NOT GET SAFELY OFF THE ROAD (NO SHOULDERS WITH DITCH ON SIDE) HAVING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, TURN ENGINE OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE WHILE IN THE TRAFFIC LANE. VERY UNSAFE AND WE WERE LUCKY NOT TO BE HIT BY PASSING VEHICLES. AFTER RESEARCHING WHAT THIS POSSIBLE COULD BE, FOUND IT LIKELY THAT IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, WHICH WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL IN PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE AS WELL AS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ACTION #16B32 FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FOR OUR YEAR OF MANUFACTURE. (OUR TRUCK WAS MANUFACTURED IN DEARBORN DURING THE PERIOD THAT THIS ACTION WAS TO BE TAKEN 8/1/15 THROUGH 5/17/16.) MADE APPOINTMENT AT LOCAL DEALER AND OUR TRUCK WAS SERVICED YESTERDAY AT PITTSVILLE FORD IN PITTSVILLE MD AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE ETB AND GASKET WERE REPLACED AT A COST TO US OF $551.14. I HAVE SEEN ONLINE THREADS OF OTHERS HAVING THIS SAME FAILURE AND WANT TO KNOW WHY OURS WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL OR OTHER, LONGER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ACTION, AS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SEVERE OR EVEN FATAL ACCIDENT. VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS TYPE OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. Owner advised F150 VIN was manufactured Oct 2016, 3 months after 20S31 cut-off August 1, 2016. June 8, 2020 Ford Motor Company Recall 20S31 Chronology page 2: “Ford proposed conducting a Customer Satisfaction campaign to repair master cylinders if and when they fail and to continue monitoring the population of non-recalled vehicles. Due to the severity of this case at high-speed and potential for fatal and life changing injuries, full brake failure and none of the warning scenarios described by Ford in 4 items below; reasonableness on any public safety business standard would ‘red flag’ this wurst case scenario for investigation and review. Chronology page 1, ¶4 - Loss of Brake Fluid: None of the following were observed. In this case “Brake” illuminated on dash and then not illuminated to normal. Total brake failure followed 20 minutes later without any of these 4 Ford described scenarios a driver is to expect. 1) “the driver will receive an audible chime, a full screen message center alert, and a red brake warning indicator in the instrument cluster; all indicating that brake system service is required.” 2) “Braking ability would still be unchanged at that time.” 3) “If a vehicle continues to be operated and additional fluid is depleted, the driver may begin to experience a change in brake pedal travel and feel.” 4) “if a loss of brake fluid is substantial enough to reduce brake function to the front wheels, full braking function would remain in the rear wheel circuit. Indisputable evidence the failure is grossly worsened beyond 20S31 cut-off now into Oct 2020.
INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF REVERSE GEAR TO ENGAGE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE REVERSE GEAR FAILS TO ENGAGE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO SHIFT INTO AND OUT OF GEAR. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRONIC CONTROL ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING CONTROL AS IT EVENTUALLY RESOLVES ITSELF AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE PROBLEM IS BOTH INCONVENIENCE AND SAFETY AS BACKING UP IS OFTEN NECESSARY TO EXECUTE A NORMAL TURN AROUND. AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN TWO INSURANCE CLAIMS RESULTED FROM THIS DEFECT; I WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACKUP IN MY HOME DRIVEWAY AND THERE WAS DELAY IN THE REVERSE GEAR ENGAGEMENT; NOT FULLY COMPREHENDING WHAT WAS GOING ON, I PRESSED ON THE GAS TO PROCEED WHILE REVERSE WAS NOT ENGAGING. THEN THE TRUCK SUDDENLY ENGAGED IN REVERSE AND I LURCHED BACKWARD HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE BEFORE I COULD APPLY THE BRAKE. TOTAL DAMAGES FOR BOTH VEHICLES EXCEEDED $15,000.
SAME ISSUE AS REPORT 11308430 - ACTIVATED REMOTE START WITH TRUCK IN DRIVEWAY; WHEN I CAME OUT TO DRIVE AWAY, THE REAR WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED. THE CLIMATE SETTINGS ARE SET TO THE FACTORY DEFAULT FOR REMOTE START. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF THE DEFROSTER CONNECTION ISSUE MENTIONED BECAUSE THIS WAS A WARM SUMMER DAY AND THE DEFAULT SETTING INDICATES THAT THE DEFROSTER SHOULD NOT HAVE ENGAGED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAW NO EVIDENCE THAT IT DID. THE TRUCK IS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED, BUT FORD CLAIMED THIS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE GLASS, WHICH IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY, THUS FORD WAS UNWILLING TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR COST.

GEORGE FORD LINCOLN (145 W. HILTON DR, SAINT GEORGE, UT 84770, (888) 925-8899) WHO REFUSED TO RECOGNIZE NHTSA NUMBER: 20V332000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE NHTSA INFORMATION WAS INCORRECT. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED THE SAME INFORMATION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 115,000.

LEFT THERE MAKING AS FEW AND SLOW TURNS AS POSSIBLE TO NEAREST WARRANTY STATION ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY, BILL TALLEY FORD IN MECHANICSVILLE. NOT SURE WHEN I WOULD HAVE NO POWER STEERING I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE 15 MILES TO WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JAN., 2017, FROM SHEETY FORD. TALLEY FORD SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE WHOLE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AS THERE WERE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THIS ITEM. I HAVE READ A LOT OF REPORTS AND REVIEWS AS FORD HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER MODELS AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. SAD I HAVE A TRUCK FOR LESS THAN 4 YEARS AND HAVING TO SPEND $2700,00 TO REPLACE A MAJOR PART THAT FORD KNOWS IS DEFECTIVE.
MASTER CYLINDER LEAKED BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER CAUSING LOSS OF STOPPING ABILITY. THIS OCCURED ONE MORNING AS I ARRIVED AT WORK. THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING CAME ON AND I PLANNED TO GET MORE FLUID DURING MY LUNCH BREAK. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO LEAVE IN MY VEHICLE FOR LUNCH I IMMEDIATLEY NOTICE A TOTAL LACK OF BRAKING ABILITY AND NARROWLY MISSED BACKING INTO A NEARBY BUILDING. I HAD TO HAVE MY TRUCK TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP FOR REPAIR. THE REPAIR INCLUDED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER. I PAID $225 FOR THE TOW TRUCK AND NEARLY $700 FOR THE REPAIRS. LUCKILY THIS DID NOT OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.*DT*JB
