The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, water leaked from the sunroof onto the contact, the dashboard, the center console, and the passenger's side of the vehicle, and there was a mildew odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that there were no prior failures that could have caused the leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a leak in the sunroof. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
APIM unit and plastic body components 2016 F150, 31,071mi., Sync3 v3.0.20204 Symptoms: Malfunction of the power window controls, radio controls and instrument panel. The APIM also controls many other safety functions, such as rear camera, safety lanes, park assist, backup guides, gps, cruise control, trailer/tow information, and other warnings/features. It is notable that Ford has issued recalls for the APIM due to safety issues in different year F150s, as well as Explorer, Escape, Expedition, Fusion and Lincoln models Navigator and MK2 models, to name a few. This has been reported once, I spoke with a Ford representative and he setup an appointment at the dealership that was to setup an appoint for diagnosis before they setup a repair/replacement appointment. An appointment to setup an appointment to setup a diagnosis appointment to setup a repair appointment. Seriously, what is up with that? Finally, a plastic component from a side-step flew of while traveling a highway, narrowly missing an on-coming car.
Both rear door locks will not open while door lock is pushed down. You have to physically lift the door lock up to open the door. Normally you just pull the handle to open the door and the locks will pop up like the front ones. For some reason the child door locks cause this mechanism to break and not work even with the child door locks off. Fighting now to get a locks replaced but out of warranty.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while reversing, the backup camera display was fuzzy. The camera display then went from dim to blank. The backup light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW 30 DEGREES THE DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT STAY LATCHED/SHUT. CURRENTLY I CANNOT GET INTO MY TRUCK VIA THE DRIVERS DOOR. I REMOTED STARTED THE TRUCK (OUTSIDE TEMP 21 DEGREES) WENT TO LEAVE SO I UNLOCKED THE DOOR, GOT INTO THE TRUCK AND ATTEMPTED TO SHUT THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT LATCH. I PULLED THE DOOR SHUT AND HIT THE LOCK BUTTON AND THE DOOR LATCHED. I FORGOT SOMETHING IN MY HOUSE SO I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH, I PUSHED IT SHUT AND HIT THE LOCK BUTTON AND WENT IN MY HOUSE. CAME OUT AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN EVEN AFTER BEING UNLOCKED. REAR PASSENGER DOOR IS ALSO THE SAME WAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED AFTER REAR DEFROST WAS ON AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES
VEHICLE ENGINE SHAKES AND SHUTS OFF WHEN STOPPED AND AT IDLE. THIS HAPPENS AFTER VEHICLE WARMS UP AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT FORD TRUCKS DOING THE SAME THING. HAVE READ THAT FORD IS AWARE OF PROBLEMS WITH VARIABLE CAM TIMING SENSORS AND CAM PHASERS, BUT ARE NOT ISSUING RECALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEADT 6 TIMES.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND NOTICED NO REACTION AND MY PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO SLOW THE TRUCK. I WAS REALLY LUCK THERE WERE NO CARS TO MY RIGHT BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER ALL THIS I GOT A MESSAGE FOR 'LOW BRAKE FLUID'. I PASSED 6 CARS TILL I CAME TO A STOP.
WHILE EXITING THE INTERSTATE, MAKING A HARD SWOOPING LEFT HAND TURN, MAKE TRUCK SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY. AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH AND TURNING, I SUDDENLY HAD TO FIGHT THE LACK OF POWER STEERING. AS SOON AS I FELT IT STOP IT POWERED BACK UP. THIS ISSUE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY COME TO A STOP.
ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON THE DASHBOARD SUCH AS THE COLLISION DETECTION BEING DISABLED AND THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL HAS BEEN DISABLED. AS SOON AS THESE WARNINGS APPEAR, THE TRUCK'S ACCELERATION IS DISABLED AND IT WILL COAST TO STOP, BUT HE TRUCK IS STILL RUNNING. IT REMAINS IN A LOW IDLE THAT IS VERY ROUGH, VIBRATING THE ENTIRE TRUCK LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO KILL THE ENGINE, BUT BARELY KEEPING THE IDLE HIGH ENOUGH TO KEEP IT GOING. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO, BUT TRY TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. ONCE STOPPED, YOU CAN PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON. SOMETIMES ONLY ONE RESTART IS REQUIRED, BUT SOMETIMES IT WILL DO THE SAME THING AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER YOU BEGIN DRIVING AGAIN. THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THIS CAN HAPPEN IN AN INTERSECTION, HIGHWAY, OR FREEWAY. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THIS IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE CONTACT CONNECTED A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL TO THE VEHICLE AND THE FAILURE CODE INDICATED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD DID NOT OPEN BANK NUMBER TWO. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
ONE COLD EARLY MORNING I WAS DRIVING, HAD BOTH REAR AND FRONT DEFROST ON. WHILE DRIVING I HEARD A LOUD POP FOLLOWED BY THE SMELL OF BURNING WIRES. AFTER PULLING OVER I NOTICED THAT MY REAR WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. IT'S A REAR SLIDING WINDOW WITH A POWER WINDOW. BLACK BOX FOR POWER THAT STICK TO THE WINDOW WAS POPPED OFF AND SMELLED LIKE BURNT.
DEC 2019, I REPORTED TO THE CAR DEALER THAT MY DOOR LATCH WAS FROZEN AND MY DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE WHILE I WAS TRYING TO GO TO WORK (STILL IN DRIVEWAY). FRED BEANS OF WEST CHESTER, PA TOLD BE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HEAT IT UP. ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOW OCT 2020, I FOUND IN MY FOLDER WHILE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE MFG RECALL NUMBER 17S33, NHTSA RECALL # 17V652. I SETUP UP AN APPT, DROPPED OFF MY CAR AND THEY CALLED ME THIS MORNING 10/5 THAT THEY CANNOT REPAIR BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT GET REIMBURSED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS USED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN AND THE LOW BRAKE FLUID INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUMMERVILLE FORD (843-873-3550, LOCATED AT 9700 DORCHESTER RD, SUMMERVILLE, SC 29485) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT SPEAK WITH ANYONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
I EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE THAT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST BUT BECAME WORST OVER TIME. WITH THIS FAILURE I WOULD LOSE STEERING AND VEHICLE ADVANCE TRACK AS WELL AS ABS BRAKE FUNCTION. WHEN ELECTRICAL POWER WAS LOST THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING WOULD STOP FUNCTIONING CAUSING COMPLETE LOSE OF STEERING. THIS CAUSED ME TO CROSS INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE ONCOMING LANE. THE DEALER FOUND A WIRE GOING TO THE ALTERNATOR THAT HAD WORN THROUGH CAUSING AN OVER VOLTAGE CONDITION. THIS CAUSED MANY OF THE SYSTEMS, INCLUDING STEERING, TO SHUT DOWN. IN MY RESEARCH THIS IS NOT THE ONLY OCCURRENCE OF THIS ISSUE. MY VEHICLE HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT. I WOULD GUESS THIS WILL BECOME A MUCH MORE COMMON ISSUE WITH TIME.
THE TRUCK WAS SET ON CRUISE CONTROL WHEN I ACCELERATED TO PASS A MOVING VEHICLE ON A FREEWAY. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP ACCELERATING WHEN I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL; I HAD TO BREAK HARD TO CONTROL THE SPEED. AS SOON AS I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BREAK, THE CAR ENGINE REVVED UP AGAIN AND QUICKLY ACCELERATED FROM 70 TO 96 MPH EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO IDLE AT A HIGH SPEED. THE DIAGNOSTIC READER PRODUCED THE ERROR CODE "P068A - ECM/PCM POWER RELAY DE-ENERGIZED PERFORMANCE - TOO EARLY". I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. TO FIX THE ISSUE, A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WE SMELLED SMOKE AND MY BACK SLIDING WINDOW SHATTERED AND BLEW OUT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULDN'T GIVE A COMPLETE ESTIMATE. CALLED FORD CORP AND OF COURSE THEY ARE DRAGGING THEIR FEET. THE REAR DEFROST WASN'T EVEN ACTIVATED AT THE TIME THAT IT SHORTED OUT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND IT HAS BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE WITH FORDS FOR YEARS.
2016 F150 CREW CAB DOOR HANDLES FREEZE AND EITHER, DO NOT OPEN, WILL NOT LATCH PROPERLY, OR NOT CLOSE AT ALL. I HAVE SEEN DISCUSSIONS ONLINE CONCERNING RECALLS FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL, BUT WHEN I CHECK THE VIN NUMBER IT SAYS THERE ARE NO RECALLS. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE. IT HAS COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING, AND NOT OPENED ON OTHER OCCASIONS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE TEMPERATURES ARE AROUND OR BELOW FREEZING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE THE COVER ON THE LUG NUT EXPANDED AND THE FACTORY SUPPLIED WRENCH SOCKET WOULD NOT FIT OVER THE LUG NUT. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE TIRE DUE TO THE FAILURE LEAVING THE CONTACT STRANDED WITH A FLAT TIRE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED DUE MOISTURE INSIDE THE LUG NUT COVER. THE LOCAL DEALER FRONT ROYAL FORD LOCATED AT (1935 WINCHESTER RD, FRONT ROYAL VA) AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE TRUCK BEGAN TO MAKE A LOUD, CLUNKY NOISE, ALLTHEWHILE IT WAS SLOWING DOWN AND THEN EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP AND WAS NOT DRIVEABLE ANYMORE. WE WERE DRIVING IN A NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN IT STALLED. IT WOULD NOT MOVE. IT WOULD TURN ON, BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT STILL MADE THE CLUNKY, LOUD NOISE.

WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH ICON INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, WHICH INSTRUCTED THE DRIVER TO CALL THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BUTLER COUNTY FORD (400 S MAIN ST, BUTLER, PA 16001, (724) 287-2766) WHERE IT WAS NOTICED THAT RODENTS CHEWED THROUGH THE WIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,000.
DOORS LOCKS ARE FREEZING UP AND DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE ON MY 2016 F150. TRUCK HAVE BEEN SERVICED ON 12/6/18, 8/3/18, 4/13/18 AND I'M GOING TO BRING IT IN 12/19/19 FOR SERVICE FOR FROZEN DOOR LOCKS. MY VEHICLE STATIONARY AT WORK ON 12/15/19 AND I COULDN'T LOCK THE DOOR UNTIL 20MINUTES LATER. THEN 12/12/19 IN MORNING I WAS DRIVING AND THE DOOR WAS UNLOCK I PULLED OVER AND IT WOULDN'T LOCK SO MY WIFE HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR UNTIL I DROPPED HER OFF. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN WITH FORD. THIS IS A INCONVENIENCE FOR ME AND FORD SHOULD COMPENSATE ME FOR THIS ISSUE OR FORD SHOULD BUY THE CAR BACK BECAUSE SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE DOORS AND THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN.
I WAS HEARING A SOUND COMING FROM FRONT OF THE TRUCK. IT SOUNDED LIKE ROCKS IN A TIN CAN BUT IT WAS NOT ALL THE TIME. HAD IT CHECKED AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRYING TO ENGAGE ON ITS OWN. I HARDLY USE THE 4X4 SYSTEM. I HAD TO HAVE THE LINE REPLACED.
I WANTED TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF THIS SITUATION THAT I'VE ENCOUNTERED. ON THE 3RD OF DECEMBER, I WAS GOING TO MY FORD F150 XLT TO GO TO WORK. MY CAR WAS SITTING IN THE BACK YARD AND I STARTED IT WITH THE REMOTE START TO WARM IT UP. I OPENED THE DOOR AND GLANCED AT THE BACK WINDOW. I THEN SAW THAT THE ENTIRE WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. I LOOKED AROUND FOR ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS AND FOUND NOTHING. I CHECKED TO SEE IF SOMETHING FELL ON OR HIT MY BACK WINDOW AND STILL DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING STRANGE. I CALLED MY INSURANCE PROVIDER AND SHE THOUGHT THAT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE WEATHER, WHICH WAS ABOUT 40 DEGREES. BUT WHEN I CHECKED THE WEB, I FOUND THAT THERE WERE MORE CASES LIKE MINE. PEOPLE WHO WERE JUST USING THE REAR DEFROSTER AND THEIR BACK WINDOWS WOULD CRACK AND SHATTER. THE REASON THAT I'M SENDING THE EMAIL IS TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THESE WINDOWS. I, ALONG WITH OTHER F150 OWNERS, HAD NO IDEA THAT THE WINDOW WOULD BREAK FROM USING THE REAR DEFROSTER OR JUST REGULAR OPERATION OF THE CAR. THERE HAVE BEEN LOTS OF CASES REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND I WANT TO HELP BRING ATTENTION TO IT BEFORE THERE IS A PROBLEM. PLEASE EMAIL ME BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
LOADED UP MY 6 YEAR OLD SON AND 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN CARSEATS IN THE REAR OF A 4 DOOR F150. STARTED VEHICLE TURNED ON REAR DEFROST. WITHIN 30 SECONDS, THE REAR CORNER BEHIND MY CHILD'S SEAT STARTED TO SMOKE. 30 SECONDS MORE AND THE ENTIRE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED. NOT ONLY WAS THIS VERY DANGEROUS WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT, IT WAS VERY TRAUMATIC FOR THEM
THE LOCKS ON MY TRUCK FROZE IN WINTER AND AS MY WIFE WAS GOIN DOWN INTERSTATE THE DOOR CAME OPEN AND I'VE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I GOT IT ND THEY REFUSE TA FIX MY RECALLS AND TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 4 DAYS WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND I'M ACTIVE MILITARY AND CAN NOT GO WITHOUT A VEHICLE THEY OFFERED NO CAR TA ME AND WE'RE RUDE AND NOT WILLING TA SHOW ME WHICH OF THE 10 RECALLS ON MY TRUCK IF ANY HAD BEEN FIXED . I JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN 2019 AND AM HAVING NUTHIN BUT ISSUES AND I BELIEVE IT TA BE A LEMON AND THE DEALER IS OF NO HELP.
VEHICLE STALLS WHILE IN MOTION, SITTING STATIONARY AT A STOPLIGHT, OR IN PARK. VEHICLE HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 55+ AND LEAVES THE DRIVER UNABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE AND CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD TO THE DRIVER AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD.

THE POWER LIFT RUNNING BOARDS OPERATE WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION AND WHEN IN PARK THE DOOR OPENS TO ACTIVE THIS FEATURE THE BOARD COMES OUT AND STAYS OUT BUT MORE OFTEN IT JUST RETRACTS CAUSING A MISS STEP AND FALLING WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE.
WE REMOTE STARTED THE TRUCK TO LET IT WARM UP BEFORE HEADING OFF TO SCHOOL. OUR OLDEST CHILD GRABBED HIS BACKPACK AND LOADED UP IN HIS SEAT AND SAID HE SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE TRUCK. RIGHT AFTER THAT HE HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND THE BACK WINDOW OF THE TRUCK SHATTERED. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY MY KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN GLASS. I BELIEVE THE REAR GLASS OVERHEATED AND BUSTED THE WINDOW. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE TIME UNDER OUR CARPORT AND NOT IN MOTION AND THE OVERHEAT DID NOT RESULT IN A FIRE.
WHILE DIVING ONTO AN INTERSTATE ON RAMP, THE BACK GLASS SHATTERED. NOTHING STRUCK THE GLASS, IT JUST BROKE. WHEN THE WINDOW WAS REPLACED, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE REAR DEFROSTER WIRING HAD BURNED BOTH ON THE WINDOW AND IN THE TRUCK. THE REAR DEFROSTER OVERHEATED THE WINDOW AND CAUSED IT TO SHATTER. IT NEARLY STARTED A FIRE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN STREET THIS COLD MORNING TO WORK. I HEARD A POP AND A CRACK STARTED ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD THEN ANOTHER POP AND THE CRACK GREW ALL THE WAY ACROSS.
SYNC 3 DISCONNECTS FROM PHONE, FREEZES UP WHILE DRIVING CAUSING HAZARDOUS CONDITION, KNOWN PROBLEMS AND FORD HAS KNOW REAL FIX
VEHICLE EXHAUST LEAKS INTO CABIN. FORD SAYS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. PAINT FALLING OFF FENDERS. FORD SAYS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. BACK UP CAMERA WORKED UNTIL FORD DEALER WORKED ON IT, HAS NOT WORKED SINCE THEN AND DEALER (HOUSE FORD ADDRESS: 3538 HWY 61 W, RED WING, MN 55066) WONT OR CAN'T FIX IT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED AND A STICKER ON THE WINDOW MELTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN I HAD STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION. I TURNED A CORNER AND ACCELERATED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. THE REAR WHEELS SPUN EXCESSIVELY, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO 'FISH-TAIL' AND CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION ME AND ADJACENT VEHICLES. THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WAS ON BUT DID NOT ENGAGE, NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH TO SHOW IT ENGAGED OR HAD AN ERROR. THE SAME DAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JIM TIDWELL FORD, AND RODE WITH THE SHOP FOREMAN ON A DEMO RIDE TO MIRROR THE SITUATION. THE SHOP FOREMAN AGREED THE TRACTION CONTROL SHOULD HAVE ENGAGED. HOWEVER, AFTER RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THE VEHICLE WAS WITHIN SPECIFICATION. FOR COMPARISON, I MENTIONED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL ON THE F-250 MODEL WORKS MUCH BETTER, WHICH THEY AGREED WAS A KNOWN INCONSISTENCY. THE F-150 TRACTION CONTROL IS INEFFECTIVE AND CAUSES AN UNSAFE DRIVING SITUATION IN WET CONDITIONS.
PURCHASED-NEW 2016 F-150 CENTER REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER QUIT WORKING AT APPROXIMATELY 13,380 MILES AND 37 MONTHS SINCE PURCHASE. PURCHASED THE FORD PREMIUM CARE WARRANTY WHICH SPECIFIC LISTS "HEATED BACKGLASS (ELECTRICAL ONLY - NOT BROKEN OR DAMAGED GLASS) AS A COVERED ITEM. REAR WINDOW GLASS IS NOT BROKEN OR DAMAGED, BUT FORD STILL REFUSED TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY. INCIDENT SUBMITTED TO PROVIDE FOR FURTHER DOCUMENTATION OF EXISTING F-150 ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING IN MANSFIELD, TX ON 10/27/ 2019 ( ON FRONTAGE RD. NEAR DEBBIE LN) AS I WAS PREPARING TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE PETAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK GRADUALLY CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION! FORTUNATELY, THERE WASN'T A LOT OF TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO BACK UP OUT OF THE WAY OF ON COMING TRAFFIC. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, CHIMES OR ALERTS TO SIGNIFY A PROBLEM. IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE!! I MADE IT BACK HOME SAFELY, BUT NERVOUSLY! NOW I'M VERY APPREHENSIVE ABOUT DRIVING THE TRUCK!

The contact was unsure of the exact part that had been repaired. The vehicle was covered under warranty. The contact stated that approximately 5 years after the repair was completed, while idling and attempting to release the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact manually pushed the vehicle to the side of the road and then had the vehicle towed to the residence. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired a second time. The dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case for the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.
ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, NO POWER. VEHICLE WAS ON 2 LANE HIGHWAY WITH CONCRETE BARRIERS ON BOTH SIDES AND NO SHOULDER. I WAS GOING APPROX 70 MPH. I HAD OUR TODDLER, NEW BORN AND WIFE IN THEN VEHICLE. VEHICLE SLOWED FASTER THAN I HAVE EVER FELT BEFORE. CARS AND TRAILERS SLAMMING ON BRAKES. I'M ASSUMING THIS DID NOT TRIGGER MY BRAKE LIGHTS AND IT WAS ALMOST DARK. SO INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS NOT TO MENTION SCARY. DASH WARNINGS INDICATED NO TRACTION CONTROL, HILL DECENT OR ABS. DEALER IS REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS WAS A CATASTROPHIC AND DANGEROUS FLAW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE BRAKE WARNING MESSAGE SUDDENLY DISPLAYED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. SEAL SEAMS CAUSING LEAKING INTO INTERIOR OF VEHICLE. CAUSING CARPET TO GET WET AND WATER TO COLLECT IN THE DOORS.
I WAS OPERATING MY 2016 FORD F150 ON A SECONDARY GRAVEL RD AT 30 MPH IN 2WD. UPON GOING A SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND CAME TO A STOP IDLING ROUGHLY AT 1000 RPM. THE WRENCH LIGHT, HILL DECENT AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE IDLED BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED IT. THIS SEEMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM CLEARING THE ERROR CODES. HOWEVER, CONTINUING ON THE ROAD, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED 3 MILES LATER. I WAS IN A REMOTE AREA IN THE STATE AND HAD TO TRAVEL 60 MILES TO A URBAN AREA. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED AT LEAST 20 MORE TIMES WITH GREATER FREQUENCY UNTIL ARRIVING AT MY RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN SHERIDAN, WY. THE FIX WAS AS FOLLOWS. DIAG, P2112-THROTTLE ACTUATOR A CONTROL SYSTEM, STUCK CLOSED, PINPOINT TO THROTTLE BODY. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY, CLEARED CODES. MY VEHICLE HAD 38,450 MILES WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON OCTOBER 17, 2019, 4:30 PM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH WITH OTHER FORD F150 OWNERS, THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROMINENT PROBLEM AND IN MY MIND, A DANGEROUS ONE. MOST OF THE INCIDENCES APPEAR TO HAPPEN IN THE SIMILAR MILEAGE RANGE BUT IN OTHER MODEL YEARS, 2017 AND 2018 WERE PREVALENT ALSO. THE FORD SERVICE MANAGER RELATED HE HAD DONE ALLOT OF THESE REPAIRS RECENTLY. THEIR IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AT THIS TIME.
THESE MESSAGES APPEARED ON THE INFORMATION SCREEN "HILL START ASSIST - NOT AVAILABLE" AND "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC". THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH, ENGINE RPM AND SPEED DROPPED AND PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID MOTHING. I WAS GOING ABOUT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I THEN RESTARTED IT AND THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. IT HAPPENED ABOUT FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY FOR A TOTAL COST OF $681.55.
TAILGATE DISCONNECTED FROM HINGES ON OUR 2016 F150. TRAVELTRAVELLING IN A 30MPH ZONE WITH TAILGATE OPEN LYING DOWN TO TRANSPORT A DOOR. TRUCK PASSING OVER A SHALLOW BREAK IN PAVEMENT AT WHICH TIME WE HEARD A LOUD THUMP. IMMEDIATE INSPECTION DISCOVERED TAILGATE DISENGAGED FROM HINGES LANDING ON ONE HINGE AND BUMPER. SAFETY CABLES HELD BUMPER FROM FALLING OFF COMPLETELY. REVIEWED WITH SERVICE AT FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. PRIOR TO REVEALING WHAT HAPPENED THE AGENT ACKNOWLEDGED HE HAS HEARD OF THIS ISSUE ON ANOTHER FORD TRUCK LOCALLY. IN THAT INCIDENT THE GATE WAS DESTROYED FROM LANDING IN ROAD. ONCE I REVEALED OUR INCIDENT HE INDICATED THAT IT IS NOT A WARRANTY MATTER EVEN THOUGH OUR VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AT JUST 12,000 MILES. HIS ASSISTANT INDICATED THERE IS A PART AVAILABLE TO PREVENT THE GATE FROM BOUNCING AND SLIDING OUT. SUGGESTED THAT HAVING A PART AVAILABLE TO PREVENT WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO OUR TRUCK IS AN ADMISSION OF A FAULTY DESIGN. THE AGENT INSISTED THE HINGE ASSEMBLY IS NOT A FAULTY DESIGN AS THE GATES ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE LYING DOWN WHEN TRAVELLING. AT THAT POINT I CHUCKLED AND LEFT. OF COURSE TELLING HIM I WOULD NOT BE BACK FOR A 3RD NEW TRUCK. THIS ISSUE HAS THE POTENTIAL IF IT HASN'T ALREADY HAPPENED TO CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO PASSENGERS IN VEHICLES TRAVELLING BEHIND A FORD TRUCK THAT EXPERIENCES A TAILGATE HINGE MALFUNCTION.
AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, COULD SMELL ELECTRICAL WIRING BURNING. COUPLE DAYS LATER REAR WINDOW WITH DEFROSTER WIRES MELTED. CAUSING WINDOW TO OVER HEAT AND BREAK. WINDOW REPAIR PERSON AT SAFELITE INDICATED WE ARE LUCK TRUCK DIDNT BURN UP. HE SHOWED US THE MELTED WIRES.
WHILE USING MY VEHICLE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I HAD VEHICLE CHECKED AT AUTOZONE AND O'REILY'S WHICH SHOWED 2 DIFFERENT CODES AND TOOK IT TO MACHAIK DEALERSHIP. TURNS OUT I HAD TO HAVE BOTH CYLINDER HEADS REPLACE, CRANKSHAFT BOLT REPLACED AS WELL AS A FEW OTHER ITEMS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ISSUE THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF AND DIDN'T NOTIFY ME OF IT WHEN I BOUT THE VEHICLE. THEY COVERED THE COST DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING UNDER WARRANTY WHICH WAS ABOUT $5,000. $ MONTHS LATER I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK AND ABOUT 30 MILES OF DRIVING 55MPH IT STARTED BLOWING A THICK CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE WITH SOME GREY SMOKE. I TAKE THE VEHICLE HOME AND LET IT SIT FOR 28 DAYS BEFORE I HAVE TO USE IT AND AFTER ABOUT 23 MILES IT STARTED SMOKING AGAIN. I TAKE IT TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE SMOKING ISSUE, ROUGH IDLE AND THE EXHAUST SMELLS LIKE GAS WHICH IS NOT NORMAL. I SHOWED THEM A VIDEO OF THE ISSUE WHICH CONTAINS MY MILEAGE AT THE TIME AND MY LICENSE PLATE WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS MY VEHICLE SO THEY CANNOT SAY IT WASN'T MY VEHICLE. WAITING FOR THE RESULTS OF THEIR FINDINGS AND PLAN TO UPDATE THE COMPLAINT. I WILL NOT UPLOAD THE VIDEO AT THIS TIME DUE TO IT CONTAINING MY LICENSE PLATE, DON'T KNOW HOW TO UPLOAD IT FROM PHONE AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO EDIT THAT OUT.
