We took the truck in for a recall for the Camphase III. They stated it will take about three days to fix. The dealership called the next day a stated the truck was ready for pick up. They drove the truck about 120 miles. We notified the dealership the next morning that the truck was not change the gear correctly it was like we was driving a manual. We call and reported the matter to the dealership the said bring it back in two week because they said we had to have an appointment when we had just left the dealership. Took it back two weeks later they said they will have to keep it for another couple of days, call the next day truck is ready, picked up the truck they said drive it for a couple of days and it will stop , but it was worse than it was the last time . I took it back for the 4th time went on a drive with the service man to show him what the truck was doing. He said he will fix the truck it will run just like new he keep the truck for a week this time drove over 200 something odd miles . Got the truck back and they said drive it for another week and it is going to stop, but it is still doing the same thing only worse than it was doing in the begging .We are getting the run around on getting our truck fixed. That had no problems before we took it in for a recall. I do have the dates and names of the individuals that we spoke to over the past 3 months. The warranty is going to run out soon and that is what I think they want to happen they keep putting us off for two week at a time the is our means of transpiration all of this behind a recall
10 speed auto transmission is very rough in shifting especially during down shifting at lower speeds (less than 35mph). Usually exhibits a loud harsh clunking sound. Also sometimes while accelerating there is slippage and the rpms will rev up but the vehicle wont accelerate.... can be dangerous when pulling into fast moving traffic when the vehicle wont accelerate. Need a solution from FORD !!!
The electric steering causes wandering to both sides and pulling to both sides especially on turns. Extra effort is required to steer and constant attention is needed to stay on the road and not into the oncoming traffic or running the car off the road next to you. You cannot turn your eyes away from the road to adjust controls for even a second, you don't know where you will be on the road. I've had it back to WESTHERR FORD 3X with the same complaint , only to be told it's normal and I'm not used to it and that they can't duplicate my concerns. Although it happens all the time and I drove other trucks on their lot that didn't act like that. If you take your hands off the steering wheel it will not drive straight. Sometimes it goes left sometimes it goes right. Sometimes it goes back and forth like it's getting an erratic electric signal. The mechanic even noticed it but the work orders never mention it.
Rear window fractured and exploded when opening and then closing rear drive side door. Original owner. Neighbors outside and didn’t see anything unusual or anyone around vehicle and Erlo cameras didn’t pick up any activity. Vehicle was in driveway closest to garage door.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at night the passenger’s side headlight became inoperable. The contact stated that the failure became more frequent and the driver's side headlight intermittently failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that the failure persisted after switching from Auto On to the manual setting. The contact stated that after activating the high-beam headlights, the headlights operated as needed. The failure recurred while using the low-beam headlights. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V097000 (Exterior Lighting). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.
problem with speed control, will not turn on sometimes, turns off by itself while being used and then can not be turned back on. sometimes after it shuts off while using it will let you use the resume button but you can not adjust the speed and after using it like this it will shut off again and then it will not rest until you turn off the engine and restart it , then the whole process starts over again or not because it will not turn on at all. this problem started May 2022 and has persisted til now June 2023 Ford dealers are no help just want your money with no fix should be a recall
Lug nuts have a cap on them for looks that swell up and make it impossible to replace with factory tire iron.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle inadvertently shut off. While the vehicle was idling, there was an abnormal knocking sound detected. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Engine rattle on deceleration is a known issue on 5.0 V8. Vehicle was brought in to a dealer in May of 2022 who was able to replicate the issue. Ford has a "remedy" in form of TSB 18-2354 which was performed by a dealer. Rattle noise was still present immediately afterwards and noted by tech performing the work but was deemed normal operation. A year later now in April 2023 I brought the truck back to Ford dealer with same loud rattle on deceleration noise and once again it was looked at and once again it was deemed normal operation. How can a loud rattle noise from engine once deemed worthy of TSB fix and not fixed by the TSB now be deemed normal operation? I do not believe and refuse to accept that rattling engine on deceleration is a normal operation, especially since not all 5.0 V8 engines do it. If it's normal all engines would exhibit same operation characteristics. Another issue is the 10R80 transmission. It's starting to surge from 2nd and then slam into 4th gear under very little acceleration throttle input. And just recently it surprised me when it started to occasionally slam down into 1st when stopping at a stop sign or traffic light. It moves the truck forward increasing it's stopping distance. It feels like someone hit the back of the vehicle. Brakes are good. The problem to me is that issues are happening with transmission but it is not with every shift or every time you drive the vehicle so it is not easy for me or for dealers to replicate when they drive the vehicle so things are deemed normal operation when in fact for us that drive day to day we know what it feels like when it runs like it should and when it isn't. The concern for me is that these issues will continue and will cause an even bigger issue or catastrophic failure down the road once off course vehicle is out of it's warranty period and then it may most likely be deemed a failure of component where symptoms leading to that failure today are supposedly being deemed as normal operation.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping and the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to cover 65% of the transmission repair. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the initial repair failed to fix the vehicle. The manufacturer then agreed to the cover the repair for a second time; however, the failure worsened. Two more additional repairs were performed on the transmission but failed to fix the vehicle. The dealer then informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced; and provided an estimate. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
Purchased vehicle new 11/2018. Took vehicle in per notices from Ford 02/2019 and again on 04/2022 regarding transmission problems. Was advised computer reprogramming would solve problems. Problems with rough shifting continued but was advised by dealer "trans to relearn shift points and may feel firmer than normal". Began experiencing harsher shifting in mid-2023 that has continued. In January 2025 rough shifting progresed to significant shifting issues both accelerating and decelerating and cannot be driven with any confidence. I attempted to have dealer address the problem in 03/2025 but were unable to even examine, hence I sought out an opinion from an independent transmission repair shop and was quoted $8200 for a new transmission (if available). I reached out to the dealer's Service Manager who has acknowledged Ford is aware of many complaints regarding 10/R/80 Transmission problems in model year 2018 Ford F150 Pickup Trucks, but says he is unable to offer any solution because the warranty has expired and Ford refuses to issue a recall. The dealer has advised the transmission must be replaced at my expense and have been quoted $6600 for a Ford remanufactured transmission replacement. Noteworthy, the vehicle has 80,000 miles on it and was told by a Service Writer at the dealer Ford does not recommend transmission service until 100,000 miles. In the meantime I have learned the 10/R/80 Transmission issues are wide spread and is the subject of a Class Action Lawsuit.
The twin panel sunroof has water leaks threw the factory installed rivets on the rail causing electrical shortages and which can lead to a fire hazard water and electrical do not mix ford needs to redesign these sunroof rails to prevent water from seeping threw the cracks of the factory installed rivets
misfire on cylinders1,3,5 timing chain, inter cooler a/c hoses. paid over $5,000 for these repairs. 1 month later engine failure. traded it in and took a $7,500 loss for repair of new engine. 83,000 miles on the engine. 2018 3.5 liter v6 ecoboost for platinum . engine light would blink if it received to much acceleration. would have to pull over and turn off engine. for the engine light to go away. ford never did replace or fix this issue. next thing I know I need a new engine. had this truck less than one year. and a loss of 12,500. the moonroof pillars brackets started to brake off not able to use the moon roof. thermostat removed and replaced. bg cooling system service, oil cooler lines replaced, intake tube boot replaces, radiator hoses replaced, heater hoses replaced,
Transmission stalls/hesitates when pulling out in traffic. Shifts are irractic.
I was driving on a local road and i try to braking and i didn't get any response from my brakes for more than 10 seconds was very scary thank you god i do not have any vehicle in the front of me. I need your prompt attention to this situations i have 2 kids and my beautiful wife i don't want nothing happening. Thank you.
Auto start stop system stopped engine and would not automatically restart in traffic when using accelerator. Vehicle required that I place vehicle back into park and restart manually.
Cam Phasers Still Rattle after recall work was done. Ford refuses to fix it properly.
The brakes went all the way to the floor. Indicated lights such as (brake) and (brake fluid low) came on. I contacted Ford about this issue and they said my vehicles VIN number is not listed under the 22S14 recall for this problem so at this time they cannot fix it.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted and then accelerated unintendedly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal rattling sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact's husband owned a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 62 MPH, he hit the back of the semi-truck on the front driver which sent the vehicle to tailspin and caused her husband to hit the semi-truck for a second time. The second collision sent the vehicle into another tailspin before coming to a complete halt. A police report was filed. According to the police department investigation, the airbag inflator had deployed which struck her husband's forehead. The investigation also determined that her husband's injuries were not consistent with proper airbag deployment. The report also noticed that both the air bag and air bag inflator were found on the floor near the rear passenger side seat. In addition, the report showed bruising constant with the lower lap belt locking but the driver did not have any bruising/burns from the upper seatbelt. The contact was pronounced dead on the scene and was taken to a moratorium. The vehicle was taken to an independent tow yard and deemed a total loss by insurance. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,667.
This vehicle was involved in an offset rear-end collision with a semi-trailer, with the driver's side making the primary impact. The crash resulted in the death of the driver and only occupant. Both the driver's airbag and left passenger curtain airbags deployed. During the police investigation of the crash, it was determined that the steering wheel-mounted airbag assembly completely dislodged from the steering wheel, with the airbag and its assembly being located in the rear floorboard post-impact. The driver sustained a head injury possibly consistent with the airbag assembly striking their forehead area. Two out of three of the plastic retaining tabs were found to have sheered off, likely leading to the airbag assembly being ejected from the steering wheel. Police investigators documented this incident with photographs and have taken the airbag assembly as evidence.
Transmission shifts radically, jumps gears going either up or down shifting. Randomly goes into neutral regardless or terrain, more pronounced on elevation. Violently shakes at times during shifting. Safety concern to myself, passengers, and other motorists when the vehicle randomly shifts into neutral particularly on elevated roads. In addition random inability to accelerate in tight driving conditions. Random hard shifting creating risk of whiplash It has been reported to Ford Motor company case #[XXX]. It has been at local dealership two times with an appointment to go back No inspections at this time No warning signals initially but now are receiving warnings INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I have on numerous occasions had hard upshifts and downshifts and loss of acceleration while traveling uphill or when accelerating in gears 1 through 6. On two occasions I have had vehicles behind me almost collide with my vehicle due to complete loss of acceleration in my vehicle for periods of 4-10 seconds. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a Landmark Ford dealership. During these issues the powertrain malfunction indicator light has turned on.
Vehicle was inspected by the dealership and Ford inspector. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL RELATED PROBLEMS OF THE 2018 Ford F-150. Backing up to an elevated driveway on a residential street. Braking at 0 mph and the vehicle accelerated at a speed which crashed the front end of the neighbor’s car parked at the top of the driveway. Those neighbors have two small children which play on that driveway and would have been killed. The neighbor heard the brakes screeching. I did not have my foot on the accelerator. This incident was reported to the police, the dealership and Ford which inspected the vehicle. They claim they did not find a problem, but there are a multitude of similar issues online. I received an recall email from NHTSA today, March 22, 2022 which I was convinced was FORD and NHTSA resolving this issue because the NHTSA information (in its brevity) seemed similar to what happened with our F-150. However, the NHTSA Campaign number 22V150000, recall number 22S11. However, our F-150 is a 5.0L engine.
The vehicle I am writing about is 2018 F150 equipped with the 2.7L eco boost and the 10 speed transmission. The vehicle came standard with the auto-stop start feature. I however do not like the system to I press the “stop/start button” to turn off the system. The vehicle has appx 53,000 miles on it I had been driving for approximately 10 minutes and had made several stops without incident. I however came to approximately the 6th stop and the engine of the truck shit off completely, oil pressure indicated zero with a battery discharge light. The center screen displayed the message “auto stop start, shift to P, then restart engine”. I shifted to park and was able to restart. Although I was at a stop I worry if the vehicle is capable of shutting down randomly like this while in motion. This was not a routine shut down of the auto stop start system. I understand that this is anecdotal, but Ford F-150 owner forums online are filled with similar complaints of 2018-2020 F150s with the auto stop start system displaying the same message and having similar shut downs. I will be taking the vehicle to a Ford dealership for evaluation. However this is an issue that warrants attention and a TSB by Ford needs to be developed.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the tailgate door unlatched independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated she had experienced the failure several times. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V983000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
My 2018 Ford F150 Raptor has major transmission shifting issues. The dealer re-flashed the transmission but issue are still there. I have researched the internet and I see lots of other owners have issues with these 10 speed transmissions.
Hard shifts and hesitation make this vehicle extremely dangerous to drive. The vehicle may okay not respond to acceleration when pulling across roads and highways. The transmission shifts extremely hard especially between gears 3-5. When driven for a while (hot) the wrench icon comes on and the vehicle begins to lose power. I have had this vehicle at two different dealerships but they cannot resolve the issue. A quick internet search indicates this is a serious issue with a number of vehicles that have this 10 speed transmission.
The rear tailgate opens while driving the truck. The latch does not retract after opening allowing the tailgate to fall open while driving. It falls open even after returning it to the closed position. Items stored in the truck bed can fall out on to the road while driving, toward other drivers. Upon dealer inspection, it was recommended full replacement for a cost of $420. There were no warnings, lights or alarms when this happens. For this to happen with limited usage of the tailgate on a truck with ~41K miles, seems like a defect. The tailgate has opened while driving multiple times.
My 10-speed transmission in my Ford F-150 is experiencing gear slipping, harsh shifting, jerking, sudden accleration, hesitation problems, and general loss of power. It started doing this at roughly 60,536 miles and Ford and the dealer refuse to assist with the current issue due to the vehicle being out of warranty. The dealer told me it would cost an out of pocket fee of $8,000. I have changed the transimission fluid my self and the vehicle continues to run above 245 degrees with a check engine light. The fault that I continue to see is a powertrain failure. After taking it in for a service to get my TCM updated, the technicians said it was up to date and there was nothing else they could do for it. My service history is as follows: March 15, 2022 when the dealr told me I needed a new front differential, November 28, 2022. Dec. 10, 2022.
My 2018 Ford F150 is having problems shifting into gears and will disengage from gear while trying and rev up the engine until I take my foot off of the gas and the RPM's decrease and the transmission re-engages. Sometime this causes harsh shifting and sudden jerks of the truck. I notified the dealership and was put on a long waiting list but told to keep driving it. My place in line finally came up and was notified that the transmission was shot but the time frame to get a new transmission is 2 to 3 months. The vehicle is at the dealership right now so you would need to visit the dealership for inspection. I would say this item has put safety at risk since the vehicle will slow down while driving on the freeway. On the day I was scheduled to drop the truck off at the dealership, I had a hard shift and the check engine light finally came on.
When I started the engine at a I-10 rest stop there was no instrumentation, no speedometer, no gas guage, no turn signal, no indication of drive mode P R N D M, nothing. I think I had brake lights. I had to drive over 60 miles on I-10 and then to a Walmart. I was pulling an Airstrean trailer. After turning off the ignition and removing the key there was some illumination on the screen so I disconnected the battery to avoid being stranded. The next day when I stsrted the truck, all the instrumentation came back. As a result the Ford service department had no codes to read. Three weeks kater I lost cruise control for several days during the trip. When I got to a Ford service department the cruise control was working again. Twice before that the truck had dropped out of cruise control on it's own. No codes.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the vehicle was idling at a red light, the vehicle stalled and needed to be restarted. The failure persisted and whenever the vehicle was idling or the vehicle was coming to a stop, the vehicle would lose motive power and stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who completed a software update under an unknown TSB; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another dealer who performed another software update. The dealer also stated that cam phasers and sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
Initially, gears 1-4 had a very harsh shifting sequence. Vehicle has been inspected by Ford and they calibrated/adjusted the computer program. Vehicle remained the same, shifting hard, especially during a downshift to stop. In the last year, the transmission does NOT engage a gear when accelerating from a stop or coasting while on the freeway during a traffic jamb. This situation is very dangerous when making a left hand turn and trying to accelerate through the intersection and you do not have a gear engaged. Also, there have been instances where the transmission shifts from 1-3 and back down 3-1 multiple times in a matter of seconds and then disengages completely.
Since buying my Ford 2018 F150 Raptor, I have had constant issues and problems with the 10R80 Transmission shifting irradictly, harsh engagements, stalling between gears while losing power, loud metal noises in the transmission/under the truck, and damage already done to the transfer case and transmission resulting in a truck that needs a new transmission, CDF, and transfer case. I have had this truck worked on 8 times on the transfer case, and constant reprogramming of the PCM because the technicians at the dealerships did not know how to completely fixed it and just followed the TSBs that were given by Ford. Most of which they just reprogrammed the PCM and the adaptive learning program which Ford said it was most likely causing the issues. In 2023 they found damage inside the transfer case with metal bore damage and two valves, which they replaced, it worked for a year, and now my transmission is completely damaged permentaly from not solving the initial issues. As of October of 2025, the new TSB 25-2474 and TSB 25-2475 which addresses replacing the entire transmission and/or CDF. Of which Ford knew the whole time. This past month I was almost in 7 accidents due to the transmission shifting suddenly, not shifting at all and stalling going through an intersection with cars behind me, and Ford told me this whole time that the harsh shifts were normal or desired in these performance trucks. I have three kids under the age of [XXX] who ride with me in this truck, and almost risked their lives trying to fix these issues and almost involved in accidents from the transmission failing. The transmission and transfer case/valve bodies have been worked on at least 6 times under warranty, but now it just expired and Ford is stating they cant do anything now because it is expired, yet it is now completely broken. Ford is quoting 12,000 for a new transmission, transfer case, and CDF Valve. Even though they did not fix the original issues this whole time. The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that during cold starts, there was an abnormal rumbling sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that after the vehicle had warmed up the rumbling sound stopped. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the abnormal sound had started occurring while driving the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was more noticeable while slowing for traffic or at a traffic signal. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired under Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03 - Engine Cam Phaser Replacement (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
The A/C unit does not blow hot or cold. This seems to be a common problem for years with a lot of the FORD F-150 based on a lot youtube videos. No one can seem to understand where the problem is originating from. When I got it diagnosed that they suspected the grounding wire is exposed and touching metal at some point in the system. Overall, I think electrical wire that is not working can have a knock on effect to other parts of the car system.
Transmission has been repaired by Ford Dealer multiple times without fixing the hard shifting issues that run common on this vehicle. Ford dealer states that nothing is wrong even after the truck has been in the shop multiple times for the same issue.
The contact owns 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal knocking coming from the engine. The contact stated that the failure recurred while accelerating at high speeds. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that camshaft phasers needed to be replaced. The contact was also notified of an unknown recall on the vehicle. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The steering rack system (electronic steering) of the vehicle began 10 months ago to show in certain moments a condition of hardness even with vehicle parked. Then 2 months ago, while driving in an earthen type road the steering system completely blocked and it was impossible to turn and almost caused me to have an accident in the road when approached a curve.
Whirring sound from right front wheel bearing. Repair shop confirmed I must replace the bearing hub assembly. The parts were unavailable so I was referred to the Ford dealer. The dealer informed me that the repair parts were not available because they were also defective. They also informed me that Ford is showing 16,000 back orders for that part number. They also advised me that the vehicle is safe to drive for now but if the whir becomes very loud it may not be safe to drive. I believe there should be a recall on the involved hub/bearing assemblies.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the steering wheel seized as if the vehicle was in park(P) with the vehicle turned off. The contact stated that the vehicle was still running. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to a local dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
I own a 2018 RWD Ford F-150 3.5L ecoboost engine. Over the last few months I’ve noticed increased engine noise, particularly with cold start ups (in the morning) and more recently every time I start the engine, which may be a result of the cam phaser CSA/FSA recall currently out for my model truck/engine. Along with this, a couple weeks ago the cold start rattling is accompanied with a low whistle. Now, my primary complaint and major safety concern is with the transmission/engine. Roughly 6-7 weeks ago the engine start upshifting quite hard, I learned that the RPMs will skyrocket to 4.5-6.5k to let me know it’s about to hardshift, with a lack of gear shift or gain of speed regardless of gas-pedal pressure until the engine suddenly upshifts to the 5th or 6th gear. This usually ends up with a squealing of my rear tires. Now, over the last 3-4 weeks it has now progressed to poor gear shifting in general; it feels like I’m in a stick shift vehicle with someone who can’t drive a stick shift properly. Also, been gears 1-3 the upshift and downshift will be accompanied with abnormal shift and a “shuddering” of the engine felt throughout the truck. The one, and hopefully last, and reason for my complaint was a scary experience with this poor, extremely hard/aggressive, upshifting nearly causing me to have an accident. I was first in line to turn left at an arrow; the turn would end with my forward direction being near true westbound. It turned green, pressed the gas pedal, and the engine remained in 2nd gear for roughly 8-10 seconds before it vehemently upshifted to 6th gear causing my tires to burn out and actually turned my truck so that the tailgate was nearly facing the southbound traffic/direction…the entire scenario took long enough for the southbound light to turn green. I’ve never had such horrendous malfunctioning of a vehicles engine/transmission before and I know my complaint(s) are one of near thousands of similar Ford models. This needs to be a major Ford recall
The F150 will stall when auto start/stop activates. This is a critical safety issue due to the vehicle becoming inoperable at intersections while stopped. The issue was reviewed several times by the dealership and issue persisted. The issue is still not repaired and mitigated by deactivating the system. This resulted in a lemon law lawsuit from me to ford with me winning a settlement for 8K dollars. However, this dangerous issue must be properly repaired. I am able to demonstrate this issue upon request. I have also have video of the incident with warning lights that activate.
Electronic tailgate opens on its own while driving or parked. Happened several times while driving @ a month ago (today is 3/16/22) when after 3 different stops my tailgate was down. 1st time I thought my son may not have come it tightly. I closed it both times afterwards. Next morning it was down and almost obstructed garage door. I did some trial and error (below) before contacting salesperson at Ford Dealership where purchased describing the issue and the numerous recalls similar model tailgates and set up service appt. While in garage where it is quiet-you can hear the latch constantly unlocking - sometimes rapid fire. Doesn't matter if keys are near it, inside the vehicle, or nowhere close/out of range. Doesn't seem to be an issue whether wet or dry. I tried changing batteries in key FOB as well. Due to the numerous recalls for the F250-450 in the US, F150 recall in Canada, & now the F150 recall for 2021 models all having the exact same issue, I had a 9:00AM service appt at a SE Michigan dealership this morning and was told it didn't fit the recall/hasn't been formally recalled. Fortunately I did not lose anything put of the back when it happened but it's an obvious safety issue. Seems ridiculous that the 2018 F150s (& other yrs aligning with 250 recalls/F150s in Canada) haven't been recalled as well. All share same latch.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal rattling sound on cold starts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the cam phasers and connecting belts might need to be replaced. The vehicle was being diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 21N03 (Cam phaser replacement). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 71,662.
I’ve been having whistling/rattling in my truck for the last couple of weeks. Tried to make an appointment with my local dealer for the Cam phaser CSP out by Ford for 2018, and other, year models with this issue among other transmission/powertrain issues/problems/defects. I was at a stop light with a red light and waiting for my green left turn arrow. Left turn arrow turned green and I stepped on the gas; my RPMs skyrocketed, stayed in gear 2, and was traveling between 5-10 mph. After roughly 100ft, the transmission switched gears from 2 to 6th gear and the turbos kicked in and I ended up slamming my head in to my steering wheel. This was the last/final straw. The engine has been questionable at best the last couple months and this was the first time I’ve felt like I am no longer driving the safe, reliable vehicle I thought I had purchase. I have a service appointment scheduled with one of my local dealerships. I hope they fix this issue because if they don’t/these life endangering transmission/powertrain issues persist I will be hiring a lawyer and fighting for lemon law.
TRANSMITION ISSUES SHIFTING FOR UNKNOWN REASONS EVEN WHEN IN CRUZ MODE ON CUASING TRUCK TO JERK . COUNTIUEING TO WORK WITH DEALERSHIP AFTER TAKING TO FORD DEALERSHIP 3 DIFFERENT TIMES TO HAVE THEM RUN INSPECTION ON IT THEY CHARGED ME 300.00 TO TELL ME I HAVE AN ISSUE THINKS IT A CLUTCH COST WILL BE 4000.00 WAITING FOR A RECALL NOW. PRIOR TO BUYING I TOLD THE DEALERSHIPS MECH AND OWNER THAT IT SHIFTS FUNNY. THAY BOTH TOLD ME THATS NORMAL FOR THIS TRANSMITTION AFTER PURCHASED TOOK IT 2 DIFFERENT TIMES ABOUT THE WAY IT SHIFTED AND THEY TEST DROVE AND TOLD ME ITS FINE. IT CONTINUOIS GETTING WORSE
The passenger side door would not lock. The door appeared to be closed, but when I drove about 300 feet, the door flew open. I had to keep hitting the lock button and slam the door closed before the door actually locked. The outside temperature was 22 degrees Fahrenheit. This happened to me one another time, also when the outside temperature was below freezing.
