Ford sync , navigation became off after update. Would send to wrong address, exit off highway only to turn around , tell me to exit after being able to safely change lanes , said I was in Michigan when in delaware. System was so bad that I would consider it to be unsafe. Ford is charging customers to update system even though it was their update that is causing isses.
The steering wheel horn button, where the airbag is behind it, is cracked. This is the second time it’s cracked since I’ve on the vehicle. The first time it was fixed by Mike Castrucci Ford April 22, 2019. I actually spoke to someone at Kings Ford named Tricia just a couple of days ago, and she told me that it was not under warranty. I tried to explain to her that this has happened before when it was under warranty and fixed already, and this was the second time, but she refused to help me. It looks like it’s called the AB module - airbag on this invoice I’m holding. At times, it seems to leak some sort of liquid slightly from the cracks, and the horn does not always work when I push on the button itself. I have included a picture of the invoice when it was fixed once before, and I’ll try to include pictures I took today of the horn button.
rattle or knocking sound from the engine, particularly on startup with only 30,000 miles on it started happening around 20,000 miles now I have my truck jerking when I hit the gas before it is apparently saying this is not on recall even though it should be because this is not my fault and clearly these parts are really bad or they did not have it tuned correctly somehow
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the engine made an abnormally loud rattling sound. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Numbers: 21B10 and 21N03. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
2018 F-150 King Ranch started noticing a rattle at start up. Took the truck to Ford Dealership and they tried Field Service Action (FSA) PCM REPROGRAM DUE TO ENGINE SHUDDER FIELD SERVICE ACTION NUMBER 21N08 I was told I needed to drive the truck for at least 500 miles, but the rattling only got worse as it sounds like a diesel on start up. I then took it back to Ford after researching and determining this a cam phaser issue that is very common. In fact Ford issued (FSA) - 21N03 FSA TITLE CAM PHASERS FIELD SERVICE ACTION NUMBER - 21N03 However, since this is a FSA and not a recall, and if your power train warranty has expired, you the owner, are required to pay for a portion of the repairs based on the number of miles on your vehicle. I've also found out that the repair is like 15 labor hours which points to the reason why Ford won't issue a full recall. Ford is not standing behind their product as this cam phaser issue a very wide spread and Ford should step up and issue a recall, and pay for all the repairs just like other manufactures have done. Finally, from my understanding, Ford has not truly remedied the issue as they are making the repairs with new parts, but they've made no change to the parts. In fact, the Serivce Manager told me that the rattling could very well come back. Ford needs to step up, make the appropriate repairs with corrected parts and pay for all of the repairs because they are definitely not standing by this verbiage that is posted under the FSA: Ford Motor Company is committed not only to building high quality, dependable products, but also to building a community of happy, satisfied customers. To demonstrate that commitment. Ford Motor Company is providing a Customer Satisfaction Program for your vehicle. It may require you to return your vehicle to the dealer for service. This program may be subject to certain terms and limitations. I guess the terms and limitations are Ford requiring its customers to pay??
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the electric tailgate latch failed to latch properly, causing the tailgate to open unexpectedly. The contact pulled over to close the tailgate. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
The entire infotainment screen system and camera failed, it was completely blacked out, "Dead". This not only made the radio completely non-functional, but also cut off the backup camera and backup sensor safety systems. The safety of both myself and others was now at risk as this important feature of the camera and screen system failed to display surroundings of the driver and pedestrians and also failed to alert drivers with a beep of anything nearby the rear of the truck. Due to the safety concern I immediately scheduled an inspection at my local authorized Ford service center. This malfunction has been confirmed by an Authorized Ford dealer and service center on 11/04/2021. The system failure was duplicated upon inspection by the Ford service technician. The diagnosis found code for internal codes to hardware pinpoint test. Tech will need to remove and install new modules and re test. Remove and install new camera. Since these parts needed to be ordered, and for safety concerns, the vehicle remained at the Ford dealership for 5 days until repaired. After the new module and camera was installed, the system is now working for the price of $1243.99 parts and labor. There were no warnings of this important safety part of the vehicle dying, however we noticed in the days leading up to the total failure the infotainment system was running slower and failing to boot up properly at times.
The rear view camera is blurry because of moisture intrusion making the rear view camera unusable at times
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while towing a camper and attempting to park in reverse, the tailgate unlatched independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he had experienced the failure twice. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing both tailgate latches to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
Transmission slipped while passing an 18-wheeler causing me to lose speed from 70 miles an hour down to about 40 miles an hour with vehicles behind me and nowhere to go. Transmission continued to slip for the remainder of my trip- New Mexico to California. I could not keep with the flow of traffic due to the issue. On various occasions I was forced to pull off the side of the road until traffic cleared in order for me to continue.
Transmission jerks when putting it in gear.
I was pulling my F150 out into a busy intersection from a hardware store exit when my vehicle completely stopped moving on October 19, 2021. I couldnt pull forward/backward and was almost hit broadside by another vehicle. My engine light came on and an error indicating that the BLISS with Crosstown Traffic had a concern. My transmission indicators were also not working. I shut the vehicle off and restarted and could only back up the vehicle into the parking lot. I was able to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the module and then restart the vehicle which then appeared to operate normal. I proceded out of the lot and the vehicle failed again. The vehicle was subsequently towed to Dean Arbour Ford in West Branch Michigan where it sits today October 26, 2021 still in the cue to be serviced. I feel that this is a very dangerous concern since it disabled the transmission in the middle of a busy intersection which could have caused a traumatic accident. Had this occurred at higway speed it may have been even more dangerous. Failure of the BLISS module should never disable the transmission.
Front windshield cracked down the middle for no apparent reason. No rocks or anything hit it. Cracked while parked
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that twelve of the lug nuts were swollen and had to be replaced. The contact was made aware of the failure after taking the vehicle to the dealer for an oil change. The dealer replaced twelve of the lug nuts on the wheels. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,572.
2018 F-150 10-speed FX4. Hard shifting, erratic shifting, and failure to accelerate at times. Vehicle is dangerous to drive. Problem can occur from stop to initial acceleration. I have take the vehicle to the Ford Dealership three times for the same issue without resolution.
Problem is the Ford 10 speed automatic transmission. I’ll just list the problems I am experiencing. Harsh loud shifting. When shifted into reverse or drive it engages really hard with a loud bang noise. Hunting for gear causes loss of forward motion, this is a safety concern as well. This has been a problem since new, service department says nothing wrong and instructs to disconnect battery for a while for computer to relearn, however it always ends up the same problem.
Came to a rolling stop at stop sign, brake off and pressed on accelerator. Truck stalled and warning light " auto startstop shift to P, then restart engine. There were oncoming cars but was able to put in park and restart. Happen twice within 2 years.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. No warning light was illuminated. The contact was notified that the VIN was included in an undisclosed recall. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The transmission was rebuilt; however, the failure persisted. Most recently, while driving 55 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the transmission downshifted unexpectedly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while an employee was driving the vehicle 65 MPH on cruise control, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated at full speed. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the employee depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle would not decelerate and continued driving approximately 90 MPH. The contact stated the employee shifted into neutral while the brake pedal was depressed, and he was able to veer to the side of road and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that no issues were found. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. I have a 2018 Ford F-150 with a 3.5L Ecoboost engine. In October 2021, I received a Customer Satisfaction Program 21B10, 21N03, and 21N08 notice of a software upgrade to reduce the engine cam phasor rattle on engine start up. This was a limited time repair notice. Unfortunately, I thought it was a recall notice and did not act on this upgrade until a few weeks after it had expired on July 31, 2022. When I called the local dealer a few weeks after this date, they stated they would not perform the upgrade free and instead would charge me. I also had a mechanic state that this issue was not required and recommended I not pay for this upgrade. Even if I had performed the upgrade, it doesn't sound like it would have necessarily fixed the cam phasor issue because thousands on Ford customers have complained. Over the years, the engine "rattle" noise has gotten worse, the engine has been harder to start, and the engine surges at highway speeds which is a "safety concern" since I no longer feel safe driving the truck because it feels like it will "stall" at any moment. When I took the truck into the dealer on September 3, 2025, they stated there was not warranty recall for the cam phasor issue even though this was documented by Ford Motor in the October 2021 Customer Satisfaction Program stated above. They told me it would cost ~ $5,600 to fix the issue. I do not understand how there is not a recall on this since Ford Motor knew they had a defective cam phasor design in their 3.5L Ecoboost engines. I am sure there are quite a few complaints posted with NHTSA. Any help you can provide with this issue would be greatly appreciated by me and all the Ford owners. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not immediately stop or slow down. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent and had occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to two different dealers who were unable to duplicate the failure or determine a cause for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
Camshaft phasers have failed, and turbo charger actuator arms are rattling bad. These damages were not caused by driver, but they are a result of the manufacturer. I have already spent $5000.00 on this vehicle for the camshaft phasers and now have to fork out another $3000.00 on the turbo. According to a lawsuit/injunction by the DOJ, my truck meets the criteria to have the recall covered but Ford customer care said no.
The auto start stop feature malfunctions. When you pull up to a stop sign/red light and the engine is somewhat warm, the engine may fail to start again or be very slow to start. When the engine does not start, it becomes a hazard as you must fully power down truck, return truck to park, and restart the engine all from a stop sign/redlight. This could be very hazardous if one needed to move out of the way of a moving vehicle from a stop.
excessive oil consumption. vehicle is loosing 4 qts of oil in 3 week period. Vehicle goes into safety mode while driving and shuts off while driving under 30 miles an hour. Dealership acknowledged this is an with the ford F-150 models from 2015 to 2020.
The vehicle experienced repeated failures involving multiple systems, including the transmission system (transmission replacement), powertrain/engine system (cylinder-related repairs), electronic control systems (vehicle computer/control module replaced multiple times), electrical system (ongoing electrical faults), and rear safety systems (backup camera failure). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. These failures created ongoing safety concerns due to loss of vehicle reliability and malfunction of safety-related electrical systems, raising concern about unexpected mechanical or electrical failure during operation. The issues were confirmed and documented by Ford-authorized dealerships and independent service centers. Despite repeated repairs, the same or related problems continued to occur. The vehicle was inspected and repaired by Ford dealerships; however, one servicing dealership (Ford of Ventura) later closed, leaving unresolved issues without continuity of service. Warning lights and system alerts occurred prior to failures along with ongoing electrical malfunctions. Exact dates of first warning indicators are UNKNOWN, but symptoms recurred over time despite repairs. The vehicle was purchased with approximately 38,500 miles. Due to COVID-19-related delays, dealership availability and parts shortages caused months-long wait times for service, and when the vehicle was finally inspected by a dealership, it had approximately 60,000 miles. Major system failures occurred well under 100,000 miles. Ford later declined assistance, citing out-of-state purchase and maintenance not performed exclusively at Ford dealerships, despite regular routine maintenance. The cause of the failures is UNKNOWN, but the pattern suggests systemic mechanical and electrical defects rather than owner misuse. All invoiced available as system will not upload them at this time.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the engine. The contact stated that several minutes later the vehicle functioned as intended. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact received notification of Technical Service Bulletin: 21B10. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phasers had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred afterwards. The contact stated that an abnormally loud sound was coming from the engine with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where it was diagnosed with cam phaser failure. The repair was pending. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 87,560.
The Sync 3 that controls the Accessory Protocol Interface Module is failing and locking up. This is affecting Bluetooth phone calls that could interfere with emergency calls as well as navigation and audio. After finding several Ford recalls for this system, we performed a software update like suggested on Ford's website which did not correct the problem. Vehicle has 55k miles on it and was just driven off a dealer lot less than a week ago.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the contact pulled into a gas station to refuel the vehicle and smelled an abnormal fuel odor outside the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving to the residence. The contact stated that the gasoline odor was still evident the next day. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed a large fuel leak underneath the front driver’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the high-pressure fuel line had a crack towards the engine and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, an abnormal sound was coming from the transmission while upshifting from the 5th gear to the 8th gear. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance since the vehicle was not under warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
my tailgate opened on its own while i was pulling a trailer and the tailgate got all scratched up . This isn't the first time its opened on its own .ford had put an update on the truck after the first time that was supposed to resolve the issue . I took it back to the dealer and they looked it over and said they can't find any problems now. i don't feel they were being honest in there assessment or did they look very hard to fix this issue . if the tailgate opens again on its own it could be very dangerous for any traffic behind as unsecured cargo could fall out at highway speeds .
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. TAILGATE OPENED ON ITS OWN, UNEXPECTEDLY, WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES RECENTLY. IT COULD BE DANGEROUS. CANADA HAS ISSUED A RECALL TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. WHY NOT THE US? THE FIX APPEARS TO BE EASY.
Unknown Mykey has me hostage. When I purchased my vehicle they only had 1 key. Not realizing that setting up the MyKey for my vehicle, I would be putting myself and others that drive on the road with me grave danger. I purchased my truck in March of 2019 and I the fall of 2021 I didn’t think nothing of it by setting up the Mykey for my Ford F-150. Well without further a due I realized that the restrictions that the Mykey puts on there owners. Driving on the freeway or anywhere one may have to pass another vehicle quickly . Hang onto your hat because the speedometer stops at 80 and you just might find yourself between an on coming vehicle and the vehicle you were trying to get around before he thought about not allot you to… In the last 15 months there’s been to many near misses because of the MyKey restrictions on my speedometer… Ford says they can’t turn the Mykey off without another key….They ant my to pay $400.00 for a spare key… They need an Administration Mykey Key & standard Mykey key to delete the mykey functions. Now to me, that doesn’t make since what so ever to be able to set up the Mykey function with only 1 Key when you need 2 to Defunction them.
While driving in 'Tow Mode' engine will shut down when coming to a traffic stop. Dash panel message "AUTO STARTSTOP SHIFT TO P, THEM RESTART ENGINE" will appear. Restarting engine requires either a wait period, and an extremely hard(excess gas pedal, immediate shift to drive while revving) restart, with the engine shuttering back to life- as if choking for fuel/air. This occurs while in traffic situations with a trailer behind. At a minimum inconvenient, at a maximum deadly. Dealer is aware, but has not found any issue/solution.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while transporting a wild animal in the bed of the truck, with the top lid enclosed, the tailgate failed to open. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under the extended warranty. The dealer was unable to open the tailgate. The vehicle was diagnosed that the actuator was inoperable. The actuator was replaced. The animal died in the truck. The contact was concerned about a child being trapped in the bed of the truck. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the tailgate unlatched and opened independently. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that he continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle to another local dealer: Kendall Ford of Meridian (250 E Overland Rd, Meridian, ID 83642:(855) 982-8853) who was also unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that he continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to Kendall Ford of Meridian and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V983000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
My 2018 Ford F150 truck has cold start rattle from the phasers. Started occurring 1k miles after my warranty ran out. This is a well known issue with this year of Ford F150 based on the 100s of videos and articles on this topic online. There are several thousand people across many online sites stating they have the same issue. They have created a service bulletin to fix the issue and sent out letters to some and not all owners. Never received the service bulletin and they should include mine in the fix since it is an obvious issue of their trucks.
My air bag in the steering wheel is starting to come out I am worried it is going to deploy with the way it looks. See photo...I called the Ford Dealership and they refused to report it.
The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2018 Ford F150. The contact stated while the owner was driving approximately 30 MPH and depressing on the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was not drivable. The driver had the vehicle towed to their residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000.
Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop after towing then will continue to stall after the engine is started back up. The temp gauge did not indicate it was overheating and no warning lights or engine codes came on. This only seems to happen while towing after we have been driving for over an hour. We are towing around 4,500 lbs so it is well under the limits of the truck.
The tailgate falls down on its own, and yes it is available upon request. I am unable to carry heavy items in my truck bed due to the tailgate not latching securely. The problem has been reproduced numerous times. When I drove the truck off the dealer lot, the tailgate fell down before I even got onto the road. Since then, I bought a replacement part for the tailgate which has helped drastically, but the recall hasn't been repaired so I don't trust my bed with a lot of weight. There are no warning lights or messages for this. I have tried to schedule with local dealerships to repair the recall, but they require me to leave my truck there for two weeks without a loaner. My truck is used for personal and business purposes, and I am unable to properly use it for business purposes which is affecting my income and productivity.
Intermittent problems with 10 speed automatic transmission: Hard shifts into reverse when cold, rattling/jerking when shifting from 4-5 gears, at steady speed in 10th gear a “rattle” or “chain slipping” occurs for several seconds. Have had the vehicle in twice and told there are no issues.
Deceleration then seeing up it locks rear wheels throwing us forward. Very dangerous. Only has 32000 miles on it. Also has erratic shifting at various speeds. Again when we are coming to a stop and speed up before stopping the locking up happens.
I'm not sure what category to place this in. The under cover for the oil pan transmission is dragging . I did not hit anything or tear it lose in anyway. It seemed to get wet and just started dropping. This is made of a ''felt'' type material instead of plastic or metal. It is is a huge safety hazard. The piece dragging could cause heat and a friction fire. Or it could fall off and cause a traffic accident or damage to vehicles on the road behind. I looked on line and found this is very common in these trucks and seems to be occurring more than not. not. There is an entire forum dedicated to this. I have temporarily zip tied the cover up but it is still dropping bad. I do not think an owner should be out over $200.00 to fix this when it is a obviously a manufacturer defect.
1. UNKNOWN/ Sometimes while driving the vehicle will try to bog down and rapidly loose power and then will pick up power as if its being starved for either fuel or power. 2. REAR DOOR OPEN INDICATOR/ My indicator light is on and it is saying that the rear door is open. My grandchildren ride in the rear seat of my truck and may be at risk of the door flying open. It also sets my alarm off over in the night time because the system is saying that the door is open.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for an oil change and was informed that the engine oil level was extremely low. The contact stated that after the oil change was performed, while checking the oil level, the contact became aware that the level was dropping and there was no evidence of an oil leak. The contact stated that adding approximately 1 quart of oil was added every month. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that one side of the sunroof bracket fractured and detached from the vehicle.
