I WAS PULLING INTO A LEFT TURNING LANE BEHIND ANOTHER TRUCK. BRAKES FAILED TO SLOW THE TRUCK. AS I APPLIED MORE BRAKE THE ENGINE STOPPED BUT VEHICLE STILL MOVED FORWARD AT A SLOW SPEED. THE ABS SEEMED TO BE TRYING TO WORK AS THE TRUCK "BUCKED" LIKE ABS WAS TRYING TO WORK EVEN AT THIS SLOW SPEED. I BUMPED INTO THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME. HE ONLY SUSTAINED A VERY SMALL DENT IN HIS BUMPER. MY TRUCK WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO SHIFT IT IN AND OUT OF PARK SEVERAL TIME AND IT FINALLY STARTED. I SUSTAINED ABOUT $3000 DAMAGE MY TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS PUT ON A COMPUTER BY A FORD DEALER AND IT SHOWED NO PROBLEMS.
WHILE HAVE MY TRUCK SERVICED ON A ROUTINE INTERVAL, I WAS TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERHSHIP SHOP THAT THE I HAD "SWOLLEN LUG NUTS" AND THAT MY TIRES COULDN'T BE ROTATED/SERVICED DUE TO THE ISSUE. FORD DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THEM WHICH I OBVIOUSLY HAD TO DO AND THEY PUT ON AFTERMARKET PART SINCE THE FORD OEM LUG NUTS WERE A KNOWN ISSUE. THEY CLAIM IT ISN'T COVERED BY WARRANTY BECAUSE LUG NUTS ARE A "WEARABLE" ITEM (THIS DEFIES LOGIC IN MY OPINION) YET THERE IS NO MENTION OF NEEDING TO CHECK/REPLACE LUG NUTS IN A REGULAR SCHEDULE IN THE RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. I FIND THIS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE AS I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CHANGE OUT THE TIRE WITH OR HAVE MY WORN TIRES REPLACED WITHOUT HAVING TO REPLACE THE LUG NUTS. I'VE OPENED A CASE WITH FORD: CAS-31464804-J4Y2Q8 CRM:0789115 THESE DEFECTIVE LUG NUTS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY FORD.
DRIVING ABOUT 30MPH DOWN A RURAL STREET AND I STARTED TO LIGHTLY APPLY BRAKES AS I WAS COMING TO A CORNER. THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. NO POWER STEERING NOR POWER BRAKES. A MESSAGE APPEARED IN THE CLUSTER DISPLAY SAYING ' AUTOSTART SHIFT TO P AND RESTART ENGINE'. I HAD TO PULL THE TRUCK OVER TO A SIDE STREET NARROWLY MISSING A SEMI TRUCK THAT WAS COMING DOWN THE STREET(BECAUSE IT WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AND STOP THE VEHICLE SINCE THE POWER ASSIST WAS NO LONGER WORKING). I HAD TO COMPLETELY STOP THE TRUCK, PLACE SHIFTER INTO PARK POSITION AND RESTART IT. IT WORKED FINE AFTER THIS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN STARTED ABOUT 3 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE EVENT. IT WAS 54 DEGREES AND ENGINE HAD NOT COMPLETELY WARMED UP YET.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A DIVIDED ROAD AT AN INTERSECTION, ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A CONCRETE POLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED.THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES AND HAD BROKEN GLASS IN THEIR FOREARM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000. *DT
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while idling and while driving on several occasions, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the contact was informed that the rattling sound was normal. The vehicle was then taken to a independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the timing chain assembly needed to be replaced due to a cam sensor failure, and the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
ENGINE TICKING SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL @START UP AND DRIVING TRANSMISSION WHINING AND KICKS OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING
The vehicle as of 12/9/2023 at 3:27pm CST is at a mileage of 79,528. We reported to the dealership in April 2021 and services prior to April 2021 that the sunroof would randomly become misaligned with the sunroof track when opening. There will be excessive noise coming from the sunroof when it’s misaligned. We are concerned that there might be a larger problem with potential exposed areas/leaks when that is misaligned. We feel strongly that it is either the alignment (misalignment) of the panels, an issue with the track, or an issue with the brackets. It was brought into the dealership, and they said they fixed it, but it continues to happen.
JUST PURCHASED A 2018 F150 XLT WITH XTR PACKAGE WITH APPROXIMATELY 36,500 MILES. NOTICED THAT VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL HAS PLAY AND TENDS TO SWAY, ALMOST FEELING LOOSE, WHEN DRIVING UNDER 50MPH. INFORMED DEALER AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED. ASKED DEALER FOR RESULTS OF ALIGNMENT CONDITION AND MEASUREMENTS PRIOR TO ALIGNMENT BEING PERFORMED AND WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT KEEP RECORDS OF PREVIOUS MEASUREMENTS ONLY RESULTS AND MEASUREMENTS AFTER WORK WAS PERFORMED. UPON LEAVING STEERING WHEEL STILL STEERS AWAY WHEN DRIVING UNDER 50MPH. WHEN COMPARED WITH OTHER VEHICLES IT DEFINITELY HAS PLAY. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME HAZARDOUS ISSUE BEING REPORTED. SWAYING AND PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL IS CONSTANT UNDER 50MPH. CORRECTION OF STEERING WHEEL IS EXHAUSTING TO HANDS AND WRISTS AND FEELING OF BEING UNSAFE IS PRESENT WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE. HAVE CONTACTED DEALER, LEFT MESSAGE TO SPEAK MORE ON THIS AND NO ONE HAS CALLED US BACK SINCE WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN A WEEK AGO. WE HAVE OUR CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP!
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced at the dealer for a manufacturer's power train control module reprogramming, the vehicle would shudder when switching lane, accelerating, or decelerating. The check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another dealer Bob Swope Ford, Inc. (1307 N Dixie Hwy, Elizabethtown, KY 42701) and an engine oil leakage was repaired. However, the failure recurred. The dealer Bob Swope Ford, Inc. informed the contact that there was no remedy but it was safe to drive the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,865.
After the Ford 21b10 update the vehicle started having shifting issues. The transmission will hold higher gears at low speeds causing an engine or transmission shutter. Vehicle is sluggish and takes a lot of throttle input to down shift into correct gear. Vehicle ran perfectly fine before getting the update done.
I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM BECAUSE THE TAIL LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT WATER WAS IN BOTH TAIL LIGHTS AND HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $3,000. MY TRUCK IS A 2018, HAS ONLY 18,000 MILES AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND NO ACCIDENTS. THE SERVICE CLAIMED THE WATER GOT IN BECAUSE OF DAMAGE TO THE TAIL LIGHT. THE MARKS HE POINTED OUT ON THE TAIL LIGHTS WERE VERY LIGHT SCUFF MARKS AND COULD NOT ALLOW WATER TO GET INSIDE. THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF THE SCUFF MARKS. I WENT ON A FORD FORUM AND FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN PLENTY OF OTHER 2018 (AND OTHER YEARS) THAT HAD WATER IN THEIR TAIL LIGHTS AS WELL. THE TRUCKS THAT WERE OUT OF WARRANTY JUST REMOVE THE TAIL LIGHT, DRAINED THE WATER, APPLIED SILICON AROUND THE SEEMS OF THE TAIL LIGHT AND HAD NO ISSUES SINCE THEN. I'VE ATTACHED PICTURES. YOU'LL SEE THAT THERE IS NO WAY WATER COULD HAVE ENTER WHERE YOU SEE SCUFF MARKS LIKE THE SERVICE MANAGER CLAIMS. THE PICTURES ARE THE LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL LIGHTS. The transmission is regularly having issues. It is though it cannot find the right gear and when shifting it will sometimes be lagging or shifts extremely hard. I have had the transmission serviced three times in the 112,000 miles driven and it still seems to have issues.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the engine was running rough and made an abnormal knocking sound at start-up and while driving at various speeds. Additionally, the contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated at start-up. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam phasers had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer was contacted and provided an estimate for the diagnostic test and repair. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
My truck now has 52K + and it has started to skip gears when shifting. Seems to be once warmed up the shifting gets clunky and bangs, more like a shudder and no rhyme or reason it shift from 1st to 2nd and 3rd and skip 4th but slip almost like it is in neutral? I was pulling out of a store parking lot and it was like someone threw it in neutral and a MAC truck was coming right at me and luckily I let up off of pedal and it caught and I was able to cut over to breakdown lane as the truck laid on his air horn at me. I have taken it in for service 3 times now at Franklin Ford in Franklin Massachusetts and it is in there right now for the 4th time. The mechanic has replaced parts and given back to me after a testing stating that it was all set each time and I would get in and same slippage and shuddering and banging while shifting and still slipped into neutral. The 3rd time in they mentioned that they replaced the torque converter, got it back after over a week: Same issues. The 4th time in service now for over a week going to check in to see what they have figured out if anything? This is ridiculous, been going on since beginning of March. Why they can't just replace Transmission or Truck ? You spend so much on your truck and take very good care of and I will tell you I baby my truck. It is a beautiful truck but please do something !! Franklin Ford asked me to start a case with FORD, so I am starting here. I haven't any paperwork you would have to get from them, my service person, Ed Murphy should be able to provide you and FORD with everything that they have done along with exact dates. 2018 F-150 PANORAMIC SUNROOF TRACKS AND MOTORS BROKE AND STUCK OPEN POSITION. WAS DRIVING AND WITH FUMES FROM OTHER CARS ENTERING MY VEHICLE FROM OPEN ROOF AND INABILITY TO CLOSE, I WAS GETTING LIGHTHEADED AND ALMOST PASSED OUT FROM EXHAUST FUMES SITTING IN TRAFFIC.
BOTH TRACKS ON PANORAMIC ROOF ARE CRACKED AND PLASTIC PIECES FOUND IN TRACK. SUNROOF STUCK IN OPEN POSITION ON THE HIGHWAY. CANNOT CLOSE PANORAMIC ROOF SO HIGHWAY DEBRIS IS FLYING INTO VEHICLE. HAVE SAND AND ROAD DEBRIS HITTING PASSENGERS INSIDE VEHICLE.
I HAVE THE 2.7 ECOBOOST WITH 19,000 MILES ON IT AND OIL PAN IS LEAKING AND BEING REPLACED. NOT GOOD FOR A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILES ALSO THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT S REAL HARD IN MULTIPLE GEARS MAINLY 5TH AND 3RD

The contact stated that the air dam was not on the new sunroof, which made an abnormal popping sound, and the contact deemed the part was useless. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the sunroof. The vehicle was repaired but the new sunroof was not equipped with the air dam, and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the vehicle was started, there was a rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the rattling sound was consistently recurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a camshaft failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact discovered the Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03, however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW IN OCTOBER 2018, DOORS WOULD RANDOMLY FLY OPEN WHEN CORNERING. I BROUGHT IT IN THERE WAS A RECALL IT WAS FIXED. THEN WHEN IT IS BELOW 30 DEGREES MY REAR SENSOR DRIVERS SIDE WOULD SHOW A STEADY RED AND BEEP WHEN THERE WAS NO DANGER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THERE IS MOST LIKELY MOISTURE IN THE SENSOR BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE IT. THEN AT 41,000 MILES MY ENGINE BLEW A ROD. THEY TOLD ME I WAS NOT CHANGING OIL FREQUENTLY ENOUGH. I CHANGE MY OWN OIL. I PROVIDED RECEIPTS FOR OIL BUT THEY WOULD NOT WARRANTY IT, I PAID $15,000 OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE A NEW ENGINE INSTALLED. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE AND AFTER FOUR MONTHS OF INVESTIGATING THEY HAD THE DEALER REFUND MY MONEY. THEN AT 43,000 MILES I WAS ON VACATION AND THE SUNROOF WOULD NOT CLOSE. I BROUGHT IT TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO SAID THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING IN THE TRACK BUT THEY WOULD NEED THE TRUCK FOR 4 DAYS AND I WAS LEAVING THE NEXT DAY. I BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER UPON RETURN AND THEY CHARGED ME $4,300 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE PANORAMIC ROOF RAILS AND CHASSIS. MOST RECENTLY MY 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING VERY HARD AND IN THE WEEKS FOLLOWING THAT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED ANOTHER LOCAL DEALER BECAUSE I HAD LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW FROM. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT PROPERLY SECURED AND CHAFING CAUSED IT TO RUN THROUGH AND CAUSE FALSE AND INTERMITTENT SIGNALS. THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE IT WAS NEGLIGENCE ON THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE ENGINE. I WOULD HAVE TO GO AFTER THEM FOR THE $800 FIX. THE SAME DEALER WHO REPLACED THE HARNESS CALLED ME LATER THAT WEEK WHILE WAITING FOR THE PART, TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOW THE TRANS VALVE CORE. THEY REPLACED IT AND IT IS HAS NOT CHANGED ANYTHING. THEY ARE CURRENTLY WAITING ON DIRECTION FROM FORD. I HAVE BEEN IN A LOANER OR RENTAL FOR WELL OVER 90 DAYS CUMMULATIVLEY. UNNACCEPTABLE!
REAR BACK GLASS RANDOMLY BUSTED OUT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SLIDING REAR WINDOW WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON FEBRUARY 22ND, 2021.
TAILGATE OPENS WHILE DRIVING AT BOTH CITY STREET SPEEDS AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ALLOWING ITEMS IN BED TO FALL OUT ON ROAD CREATING ROAD HAZARD. THIS IS MORE THAN AN INCONVENIENCE IT IS DANGEROUS AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO KILLED. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. PLEASE. CANADA HAS ALREADY DONE THE RIGHT THING AND ORDERED THE RECALL. IF NHTSA RESPONDS TO THIS PROBLEM TOO LATE OR NOT AT ALL NHTSA WILL HAVE BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS BECAUSE IT IS NOT A MATTER OF IF SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DEATH OCCURS IT IS A MATTER OF WHEN.
ON OR ABOUT THE WEEK OF 10/26/2020, I TOOK MY TRUCK TO J.C. LEWIS FORD IN SAVANNAH, GA FOR A TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ISSUE TO BE LOOKED AT. WHILE THERE, THEY ALSO CHECKED THE OIL IN THE VEHICLE AND NOTED IT WAS VERY LOW. AS A RESULT OF THIS, THEY COMPLETED AN ENGINE OIL CHANGE, REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER AND REPLACED THE OIL LEVEL INDICATOR PER TSB 19-2365, AND I COULD PICK UP THE TRUCK, WHICH I DID. THIS PAST TUESDAY, 2/16/2021, I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL IN MY TRUCK AND FOUND IT TO BE OVER A QUART LOW. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY HAD A LITTLE OVER 3000 MILES PUT ON IT SINCE THE FORD PROVIDE WARRANTY OIL CHANGE. I PHONED J.C LEWIS FORD AFTER NOTICING THE OIL WAS LOW AND THEY REQUESTED THAT I BRING MY VEHICLE IN TO BE LOOKED AT. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP.
I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST AND ABOUT 2 MINUTES LATER THE REAR GLASSS SHATTED. THE GLASS WAS NOT DAMAGED IN ANY WAY PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT THERE WERE NO SCRATCHES OR DEFECTS.
WINDSHIELD FLUID IS FREEZING UP. 1ST TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE THE FLUID USED WAS ONLY FOR WARMER TEMPS AS THERE WAS ALSO SOME ICE FLOATING IN THE RESERVOIR BB. TOOK TO A DEALER IN NY, HAD THE OLD FLUID REMOVED & REPLACED WITH FLUID GOOD TO -20 DEGREES. IT WORKED FINE AT FIRST AFTER REPAIR BUT THEN OVERNIGHT IT FROZE AGAIN IN THE LINES (NOT RESERVOIR). IT EVENTUALLY DEFROSTED IN SOUTHERN VIRGINIA, AFTER DRIVING @6 HOURS. LUCKILY THE ROADS WERE RELATIVELY DRY. I'VE LIVED IN COLD CLIMATES THE MAJORITY OF MY LIFE NEVER HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS. I FOUND INFO ON YOU TUBE THAT ONE OF THE VALVES NEEDS TO BE ENLARGED TO PREVENT FREEZING.
MY VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN (LOST ALL POWER, LOST POWER TO THE BRAKES, LOST POWER STEERING, ETC.) TWICE IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS WHEN COMING TO A STOP ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. I CANNOT REPLICATE THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MAKE THIS EVENT HAPPEN. WHEN IT OCCURS, I NEED TO PLACE MY VEHICLE INTO PARK AND TURN THE KEY OVER. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON A HIGHWAY, OR ON A BUSY INTERSECTION. FROM NOVEMBER 2020 TO FEBRUARY 8, 2021 I HAVE EXPERIENCED 7 INCIDENTS WHERE MY TRUCK HAS HESITATED/STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IT APPEARS TO BE WORSENING. ON ONE OCCASION IT PUT ME IN A DANGEROUS POSITION IN TRAFFIC AND FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOTICED IT IS BEGINNING TO SHIFT HARDER AS WELL. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS 10R80 TRANSMISSION DOING EXACTLY THE SAME AND YET, FORD, HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM WITH A RECALL. I AM TAKING MY TRUCK TO MARSHALL FORD DEALER ON FEB. 11, 2021 TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.
The vehicle as of 12/9/2023 at 3:19pm CST is at a mileage of 79,523. Around the time we bought out the lease on our truck in April 2021, we reported to the dealership that the tailgate latch on occasion would not latch. They did a repair for it, but it has happened a few times since. We saw a recall notice for other Ford F-150 models from 2018 that had issues with latches/linkages/locks on the tailgate where the tailgate would become unlatched like ours.
THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DOES NOT TURN BACK ON QUICKLY WHEN STARTING FROM START/STOP.THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE PURCHASING VEHICLE (02/2019). THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND THE STEERING DID POWER AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the tailgate would randomly unlatch and open. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V983000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) however, while checking the VIN on the NHTSA and Ford website there was no recall listed. The failure mileage was 28,000.
AFTER TOWING FOR AN HOUR OR MORE, PULLING INTO GAS STATION, LOW RPM, ENGINE STOPS, AUTO START.STOP WARNING COMES ON, ASKED TO PUT IN PARK AND RESTART ---I HAVE TO REV GAS TO KEEP STARTED--ONLY WHEN TOWING FOR AWHILE
ELECTRIC TAILGATE LATCH FAILS CAUSING TAILGATE TO OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY; HAPPENS WHETHER IN MOTION OR STANDING STILL. EVIDENTLY THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN CANADA, BUT NOT THE US.
THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD IN THE FIRST 5 GEARS OF THE 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION. IT IS HIT OR MISS ON WHETHER OR NOT IT DOES IT, BUT IT DOES RAISE A CONCERN ON HOW IT JERKS, ESPECIALLY WHEN MY DAUGHTER THINGS I AM BRAKING HARD, BUT IT IS REALLY JUST THE TRANSMISSION.
Complete failure of the Sync 3 Advanved Program Interface Module (APIM). Recall available up until 2017 model year, 2018 needs to be included. I purchased my vehicle used in August 2019 with 28,000 miles and had problems with the APIM from the start. Dealer refuses to replace. Problems include: -Device will not update firmware over Wi-Fi or USB flash drive. -None of the official Ford Sync mobile apps on iPhone will connect to APIM. -Resuming music from USB flash drive frozen in memory from same song and time every time I start the car even after playing many songs ahead. -Turning off the vehicle loses the current clock time. -Driving durring the day with headlights off, screen randomly goes black into night mode. Dealer quoted me $1008 to replace APIM, not gonna happen. I researched prices online and can purchase this and do it myself for less than $300 but, I shouldn't have to.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormally loud rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the cam phasers were defective. The contact stated that a previous campaign (21B10) was performed on the vehicle to repair the cam phasers; however, the dealer acknowledged that the campaign had failed to repair the failure. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The contact was informed that there was no recall or warranty on vehicle. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 48,641.
cam phasers are rattling very hard. It is a known recall with ford that for some reason is not showing under my VIN even through the recall is for the same year model and engine.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED IN THE SNOW/WET TRANSMISSION MODE, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A MERGING VEHICLE. THE REAR END MADE A LOUD CLUNK AND THEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. THIS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES - A LOUD CLUNK FOLLOWED BY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMING ON. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS SITUATION HAS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE NOTICED A CLUNK AT NORMAL MODE WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN. IT OCCURS WHEN DRIVING AS ONE WOULD NORMALLY DRIVE AROUND TOWN, JUST NOT AS LOUD. THE PROBLEM SEEMS INTERMITTENT, BUT CAN BE FORCED TO OCCUR BY TAPPING THE GAS IN SHORT RAPID TAPS WHICH APPEARS TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE THE REAR END. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE. THE ESTABROOK FORD DEALER WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THE SOUND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE LIFT, BUT SAID THAT SINCE IT WAS UNDER A NO LOAD CONDITION AND NOT A TRUE INDICATION OF A PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPORTED THAT FORD CONSIDERS THIS NORMAL OPERATION FOR THE 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION, AND BY TAPPING THE GAS TO FORCE IT TO OCCUR IS NOT NORMAL. THE LOUD CLUNK ALSO OCCURRED ON ONE OCCASION WHEN I SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE.
2018 F150 has problems with the 10R80 automatic transmission. Harsh shifting, delayed shifts. Very unpredictable. Dealer has had the vehicle for 10 days and is unable to repair it. I bought the vehicle used from a Ford dealer with 45,000 miles in January 2021. It has always been problematic since I bought it. I first dropped it off at the dealer for repair on 8/3/21
Issue with cam phasers going bad over time. Makes loud clacking sound on start up
F150 errors shifting, clunky shifts. Transmission rebuild at 105,000 mi, then again at 160,000 mi, then again at 163,000 miles. And total replacement at 163,300 mi.
(BELOW FREEZING) DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTIONED. CAN OPEN DOOR, WHEN CLOSING, DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT, ATTEMPTED TO RE-CLOSE DOOR, WILL NOT LATCH. IT IS ESSENTIALLY FROZEN IN THE OPEN POSITION AND DOES NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO LATCH. SOMETIMES, YOU CAN CLICK THE LOCK BUTTON AND THE DOOR WOULD LATCH, HOWEVER, ON SOME OCCASIONS, THE DOOR WOULD NOT EVEN LATCH IN THE LOCK POSITION. THERE WAS A RECALLS FOR THIS (AROUND MARCH OF YEAR 2020), WHICH HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY A LOCAL FORD DEALER. HOWEVER, THIS SAME ISSUE HAS RE-SURFACED (JANUARY 2021). THE REAL CONCERN IS THE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGER AND THAT THE DOORS WILL NOT LATCH PROPERLY. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THE FIRST RECALL WAS A ONE TIME DEAL, IF THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN, THE CUSTOMER HAS TO PAY THE REPAIR COST. FORD SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR CORRECTION AND PAYING FOR THIS ISSUE.
THE VEHICLE HAS 2 SPEEDOMETER. A DIGITAL AND AN ANALOG ONE. THE ANALOG SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT MEASURE THE SPEED CORRECTLY. IT STAYS STUCK AT 60,80,100 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK IS STOPPED.
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED WHEN COLD OUTSIDE. WHEN YOU TRY TO CLOSE IT, IT BOUNCES BACK OPEN. THIS HAPPENED WHILE PARKED. I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO STAY CLOSED.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY I EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE ON MY 2018 F-150. AFTER STOPPING, I ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE TIRE. HOWEVER, MY TIRE IRON WRENCH WOULD NOT SEAT ON TWO OF THE SIX LUG NUTS. UPON INSPECTION, I COULD SEE THESE TWO LUG NUTS HAD BECOME DEFORMED. THE TRUCK HAD JUST PASSED 18,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND HAD NO PRIOR TIRE DAMAGE. THE TRUCK HAD UNDERGONE TWO TIRE ROTATIONS BOTH AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO GET THE TIRE IRON WRENCH TO SEAT ON THE LUG NUTS BY POUNDING IT ON WITH A SET OF PLIERS. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, I INSPECTED THE OTHER TIRES AND FOUND THE TIRE IRON WRENCH WOULD NOT SEAT ON THREE OTHER LUG NUTS. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY HISTORY OF PROBLEMS WITH LUG NUTS BECOMING DEFORMED AND WAS TOLD WHILE THEY HAD HAD SOME PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH LUG NUTS ON OTHER FORD VEHICLES, THE F-150 WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. I THEN RESEARCHED LUG NUTS ON A F-150 FORUM AND DISCOVERED THAT FORD HAD A HISTORY OF FAULTY LUG NUTS DATING BACK TO AT LEAST 2015. IN SOME CASES PEOPLE WERE FORCED TO CALL FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GET THE LUG NUTS REMOVED. IN A FEW CASES THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ATTENDANT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AT REMOVING THE LUG NUTS AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FOR MORE DETAILED LUG NUT MEASURES. SOME PEOPLE MAY QUESTION WHY THIS SHOULD BE RAISED AS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CAN TELL YOU THIS HAPPENED ON A RURAL HIGHWAY ON A MOONLESS NIGHT. MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WENT FLAT VERY QUICKLY. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY ON THE LAST EXIT BEFORE A 60 MILE STRETCH OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE HAD TO TRY TO MAKE THE CHANGE NEXT TO THE HIGHWAY. A REASONABLE PERSON SHOULD EXPECT LUG NUTS TO BE REMOVED WITHOUT ISSUE USING THE EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED WITH THE TRUCK. A WEEK AFTER THIS HAPPENED, I BOUGHT A COMPLETE SET OF AFTERMARKET LUG NUTS THE FORD FORUM HAD RECOMMENDED.
CLUNKING SOUND WHEN GOING FROM PARK TO REVERSE, HESITATION CHANGING GEARS. LOUD WHINING NOISE COMING FROM TRANSMISSION, NOSE DIVE, WHEN IN 10TH GEAR AND ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION GOES FROM 10 GEAR TO 3. HESITAION CHANGING GEARS, AT 30 MILES PER HOUR TRUCK SLOWS ALMOST TO A STOP.
ENGINE OIL IS LEAKING.
TRANSMISSION GRINDS ON ACCELERATION. ALSO, RUMBLING SOUND/FEELING BETWEEN APPROX. 4TH AND 7TH GEAR. WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK INTO REVERSE, VEHICLE LURCHES AND LOUD BANG. HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES, AND ALL 3 TIMES, THEY SAY THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SOUND. I GUESS IF THEY CAN'T HEAR IT, IT'S NOT A PROBLEM. DEFINITELY 100% WITHOUT A DOUBT, THIS VEHICLE HAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM
POWER DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT OPEN. HAD TO USE KEY TO ENTER VEHICLE AND THEN PHYSICALLY PULL UP DOOR LOCKS TO OPEN DOORS. ONLY HAPPENED WHEN TEMP WAS FREEZING TWICE SO FAR WHEN VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE
THE 10-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON MY TRUCK SHIFTS HARD AND INEXPLICABLY WHEN UPSHIFTING AND DOWNSHIFTING, ESPECIALLY IN LOW SPEED STOP AND GO CITY TRAFFIC. THE JOLTS ARE HARD AND CAUSE AN DRAMATIC 'BRAKING' ACTION THAT HAS ALMOST RESULTED IN A FEW ACCIDENTS. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT BY FORD AT APPROXIMATELY 9,000 MILES AND CURRENT HAS JUST OVER 16,000 MILES.
DOOR LATCHES ARE FREEZING OPEN/CLOSED. DEALER HAD ME DRIVE IT TO THEM TO FIX IT, WHICH I DID SO WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED. I AM BEING TOLD THIS IS NOT A RECALL BUT A TECHNICAL FIX. THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE TO ME, IT'S A $40,000 VEHICLE WITH DOOR LATCHES THAT COULD ALLOW A PERSON SEATED TO LITERALLY FALL OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS TO BE FIXED. IT HAPPENED WHEN TEMPERATURES GOT BELOW FREEZING, ABOUT 15 DEGREES, WHILE STATIONARY AT HOME.
