The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the vehicle started to make a clicking noise. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with cam riser shaft, timing belt, and sprocket failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
2019 Ford 10 speed transmission has been shift hard when slowing down and then accelerating. This week while driving 65 mph the collision warning came on and truck slowed down. There was no traffic near me for any collision. Since then the transmission is not shifting correctly.i had one occasion where the transmission shifted from 8th gear to 1st gear. Very hard, or pausing and then shifting hard. Coming into highway it paused, loss power in front of of oncoming traffic. Very dangerous so I immediately took my vehicle to Ford Dealer and also call the Ford Customer relations to report issue. There is only 75,000 miles on the truck. In research I have found know issues with exact same issues on this transmission. However no recall for my vehicle. This is poor safety and poor customer satisfaction for Ford.
Had a problem with hard shifting and up and down shifting out of the blue while driving on interstate. Ford recommended a trans service. Had it done 3 days before trip to NC. For Christmas. On our way home the truck started a hard back and forth up and down shifting. We pulled off highway and found trans fluid everywhere. I could not find a leak. Called and got a tow the next morning to a ford dealer in Georgia. Found trans was overfilled. Made it home but trans is still shifting hard and goes into neutral while driving down the road. You need to recall all these 10 speed trans. I was quoted 7,000 dollars for an overhaul and told I may still have the same issue sooner than later.
I had trasmission replaced and am still having problems with new transmissions. Won't shift gears, especially on highway. Will go from 10 to 1 or jump around.
Faulty transmission

2019 Ford F150 eco boost lariatTransmission 10 speed failed! About killed me twice pulling out into traffic! Harsh shifting Jerking Hesitations during acceleration Unexpected losses of power Slipped gears However it wasn’t on the recall list but doing the same thing as the ones recalled .! Which I feel is Bs in why they didn’t recall all 10 speed transmissions!
UNKNOWN. Truck has issues switching gears. Pulled out on the highway and truck wouldn’t shift out of 2nd gear. I almost got rear ended because the truck would not shift into the higher gears. It finally shifted real hard out of 2nd gear, then started shifting back to lower gears even though I wasn’t slowing down. This incident with it not shifting out of 2nd only happened once so far, but the shifting between gears has been erratic the last few weeks. Talking to other people who own F-150’s, this seems like a common issue with these trucks.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that whenever the transmission was shifting between 3rd to 4th and 9th to 10th gear, there was a lag while upshifting. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate while idling, and while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.
The Transmission clunks through gears, bangs into reverse at times when backing up but the worst is backing out into the road and wont move . 3 times this has happened, and its dangerous! Ford knows the transmissions are a huge problem but makes people pay up to 6000 dollars to make repairs. For what people pay for a truck this is unacceptable. 2019 with 85,000 miles should not have these issues but everyone has the issue.
Truck was going down the highway at 75mph when the transmission went from 10th gear to 1st. I have videos of this happening several times and then eventually a gear symbol appeared on dash. From day 1 when I bought the truck new it would have a hard time shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. It would lung forward or not even shift and the truck would just roll forward trying to figure out what gear it is in. I've taken the truck in to multiple dealers and all they would ever do is reset the computer. Once I took the truck in for the 10th to 1st gear issue. I told the new dealership I went to about the 3 and 4 issue. The service advisor said his trcuk had the same issue and he was able to get it fixed under warranty but I was already out of the warranty so they couldn't do anything about the 3 and 4 issue. For the shifting from 10 to 1. They rebuilt the transmission and put some locking device to keep fluid flowing into the case. Since the repair that I had to pay out of pocket for. I still have the 3 and 4 shifting problem. Only happens on cold starts when I'm accelerating up or down a hill. The new issue I'm now having is a hard shifting into reverse. Ford keeps telling me I don't qualify for any reimbursement because I'm outside of the warranty limit, even though, the truck every time I took into a Ford dealership for oil changes, I would complain about the transmission and they would just say it's a known issue but nothing they can do about it. Also after the transmission rebuilt, about 2,000 miles after, driving on the freeway, smoke was billowing out of the bed and transmission fluid was leaking out of the case all underneath the truck. The truck was towed back to dealership and they just said it was filled with too much transmission fluid.
this is a Ford F150 2019, 3.5 L, 10 speed transmission, while driving on a highway, the vehicle was on the 10th gear with a speed of around 70 Miles per hour and suddenly shifted to the first gear with a sudden drop in speed, that have caused me to almost go through the windshield, and the vehicle behind me almost rear ended me, I spoke to the dealer and they advised me not to drive it due to safety concerns that has been reported to them on multiple occasions, and after I gave then the VIN they stated it has not be recalled yet, I took it to the dealer and after 2 months of back and forth with the Ford dealer and Ford motor company, the problem was the transmission and it is in the process for it to be replaced. prior to this incident, the shifting gear was bouncing between gears and lagging for few weeks prior.
The metal fuel line from the canister up to the high press fuel rail developed a crack and ruptured without warning. The vehicle was unsafe to drive because it poured a significant amount of gasoline onto the ground when the fuel pump came on. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for repair. The fuel line was inspected by the dealer's technician, rupture was confirmed and both fuel supply and return lines were replaced. After repair was performed, the dealer service representative showed me the fuel line that was replaced.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally loud thumping sound coming from the transmission before the transmission seized in fourth gear. Additionally, the RPM increased with an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had become a persistent failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the RPM's rapidly increased but the vehicle lost motive power, after which, the contact became aware that the vehicle had downshifted on its own. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Vehicle hesitates shifting into 4th gear especially when first leaving the driveway and attempting to accelerate to pace of traffic. The hesitation is enough to make your head lurch forward, followed by a harsh engagement of 4th gear. I’m concerned I may be rear ended due to lack of power. The problem has happened continually. No MIL lights or any other problems. The vehicle will be scheduled for service.
Truck has 85K miles on it and has a loud ticking noise followed by rattle at 1500 rpms even after timing system was rebuilt. Burnes 1qt of oil every 1000 miles. Entire timing system needed to be replaced due to two faulty chain tensioners. Engine was super clean and had zero oil sludge buildup. Currently having a oil consumption test done. Do have repair order that was done for timing system. No warning lights for failed timing system that popped up. I am able to get the repair invoice if needed.
On December 7 2024 I parked the vehicle in a driveway and left the engine running. The vehicle's gear selector was firmly in park and the emergency brake was not set. I sat in the vehicle for a few minutes waiting for my friend. While waiting and the vehicle still in park and still running, I exited the vehicle to adjust the back set. I left the driver door open, and opened the rear driver's side door to fold down the rear seat, and move items out of the way. While doing so the vehicle suddenly began drifting backwards. I immediately stepped backwards and watched the vehicle roll backwards down the driveway approximately 5-10 feet. The vehicle then stopped. I then got into the cab and put the emergency brake on. The vehicle has had prior service for transmission shifting issues and was reprogrammed. This initially helped but over time the transmission began exhibiting shifting issues. In general, after start up, the first time the vehicle shifts from 3rd to 4th gear the shift may feel hard and as if the brakes are being applied. This occurs intermittently.
While driving this morning 12/6/24 I pulled out of a driveway going between 5-10 mph and my truck completely turned off. The dashboard said...."Auto StartStop Shift to P, then Restart Engine" My truck had no lights, the steering wheel became stiff, I couldnt steer, the brake became very plyable almost unusable, I was completely stuck in the middle of the road! I had to put my truck in park and restart it. Luckily it started and didnt cause an accident. This is the 3rd time this has happened since I owned this vehicle. This is extremely dangerous and very scary!
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated; however, the "Check Service Manual" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
10 speed power train down shifts when trying to increase in speed. throw me almost into windshield. The Purvis ford would not even take it in to fix it. had to take it in a transmission shop at cost 8K for new power train. they claim they seen hundreds of the 10 speed in for repair.
The vehicle developed a grinding noise in the engine soon after i lost all power and brakes while leaving my driveway i thought I was going to crash into my neighbors fence. I had zero braking function out of no where ans no check engine light, it came back after about 30 seconds being off. Then as I was driving down the road I lost all power and I could not accelerate or anything in the middle of the road again no check engine light came on it was just an instantaneous power loss took about 45 seconds to re-engage. I've lost power on the freeway while driving as well.
Intermittent hard, delayed shifting, and a high-speed stumble. Sometimes coming out of 3d under a moderate acceleration, it feels like someone stabs and releases the brakes hard enough to lock the seat belt retractor.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the transmission malfunctioned and the vehicle would not properly shift from first to, second and third gear, and abruptly shifted into fourth gear. Later, while driving, the transmission failed to shift properly, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was later towed to the local mechanic. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 94,000.
Transmission failure. The transmission skips gears when accelerating. Which is especially not good when you are trying to merge into traffic and the vehicle lurches you as it skips gears. Had it diagnosed at the Ford Dealership and they are saying the truck needs an entire new transmission. Skipping in 2nd-3rd gear and while driving in 10th gear it will drop. We purchased this vehicle used and it now has 103k miles on it. Because we are over a 100k Ford will not help us replace the transmission. I am not sure why there is no recall when this is a reported issue (that I wish I knew of before purchasing the truck).
10 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (10R80) HARSH SHIFTING FROM 3 TO 4, CAUSING SLUGISH AND UNRELIABLE ACCELERATION. SUDDEN BANG INTO 4TH GEAR ALSO SLAMS OCCUPANTS INCLUDING DRIVER OFF SEATS. AAMCO OF EL CAJON, CA CONFRIMED AND CURRENTLY REBUILDING TRANSMISSION DUE TO FAILED VALVE BODY, EXCESSIVELY WARN FRICTION RINGS, SLIPPED CDF DRUM AND WARN TEETH INSIDE DRUM. SYMPTOMS WERE SUDDEN AND SEEMED TO BE WORSENED WITH COLDER WINTER MORNING. NO WARNING LIGHTS. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 59,000 MILES AND WAS DENIED WARRANTY DUE TO BEING OWNED LONGER THAN 6 YEARS.
Vehicle unexpected slips out of gear between gear 3 to 4 change. Vehicle rolls free like it would if it was in neutral.
Engine noise/rattling while decelerating, random rough idle that causes engine to almost stall out and die when taking off from a stop at intersections. No check engine lights.
10 speed transmission jumps gears causes truck to jump violently or not go at all. I turned onto a busy road to get my daughter from school and it went from 7 to 1 and I was stuck. I could have been hit, thankful my daughter was not in the car it was terrifying. Happened more than once. Now it’s parked at home unable to drive, scared to death I will get into an accident.
I came off of an exit ramp, when I hit the gas, the truck went to neutral and motor reved up. I pulled off to the side of the road for a few seconds and the truck went back into gear. The truck also has a hard time going into 10th gear. It has reved up and a wrench has popped up in my dash.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic where the catalytic converter was replaced with an aftermarket part; however, the failure persisted. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Having major issues with the auto stop control, it has turned the truck off while sitting in the middle of an intersection, has stalled my truck multiple times in busy areas of on coming traffic, has shortened my battery life and my starter, and it has shown different warning icons. The power train is also acting up by hard shifting, not wanting to switch gears, skipping gears, and also making it difficult to pin point problem. My rear left brake functions are causing an issue as well, some function is making my brakes either stick or something because I get a burning odor constantly coming from my rear wheel even after changing my brakes and rotors.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle and turning the steering wheel, the steering wheel was significantly loosened. The contact who is an independent mechanic, to the steering wheel apart, and became aware that the nut used to secure the steering wheel to the steering shaft had become loosened. The contact tightened the steering nut to secure the steering wheel. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission independently downshifted. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times, and the failure became a persistent failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times due to the failure, and the dealer updated the software and made some technical adjustments. However, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
Have a 2019 Ford F-150 that began having hesitation issues at approximately in late 2023. Hesitation issues began occuring when the vehicle would sit for hours, then being started and allowed to warm for 2 to 4 minutes before putting it into gear. Once put into gear the vehicle would hesitate, then slip into gear, then seemed to slip into neutral and back into gear. At first the hesitation was very slight and seemed to occur more on inclines than flat surface. By mid 2024 the hesitation became more like a slight bucking and then slip into neutral for several seconds before slipping into gear. This caused safety issues when taking off from intersections and merging into traffic as the vehicle was unable to maintain acceleration and gain the necessary speed to merge, causing other vehicles behind to immediately slow or slam their foot on the brake. When taking off from a stop, the vehicle would slip into neutral, causing the rpms to rev to 6k + and then slipping back into gear, causing the wheels to immediatly spin faster and "spin out", then the vehicle would begin gaining speed but still experience hesitation for off and off for several minutes. Took the vehicle to a friend who is a retired Ford Service Manager who "guessed" that the problem was an EBT and sent me to the local Ford Dealer for proper diagnosis. The service tech at Ford called and said the truck needed a new transmission but at first did not explain why. While the vehicle was at the dealership getting a new transmission, we asked Ford about the transmission recall and he explained there wasn't one and then explained that the issue with our transmission was the CFD Drum. The service receipt we received from Ford at time of payment does not explain the reason for the transmission failure..just the retired service manager's guess. The mileage on the vehicle when the issue began was approximately 75k. The mileage at replacement was 88k.
Transmission failure which resulted in significant loss of power when shifting gears while pulling onto a major road. This caused the vehicle to stall which could have resulted in multi car accident as well as harm to those in vehicle(s). Additionally, there have been multiple hard shifts when accelerating as well as loss or skipping of gears when traveling on the interstate. This has also happened from a stop when turning at intersections, with the transmission falling out of gear completely while driving, causing an unexpected loss of power in traffic. There were no check engine or warning lights prior to these incidents happening. The vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership who confirmed a new transmission was necessary and said this model is a design flaw and there are known issues with this particular transmission. The check engine light will randomly come on then go away. Fortunately it had come on the way to the dealer for inspection so they pulled the truck right back and ran diagnostics.
My truck has been suddenly and unexpectedly downshifting into first gear at any speed. At times, it would not engage the transmission at low gears leaving me stuck in the middle of the intersection or at a stop light. The Ford service department indicated that the10r80 transmission has to be rebuilt due to the CDF drum going bad. According to the service department, this seems to be a common issue with a Ford 150 10 speed truck. I have read that the 2017-2019 Ford six speed transmissions has a safety recall. It seems that Ford has built a substandard 6 and 10 speed transmission putting people in risk of injury due to a malfunctioning transmission.
When I bought the vehicle in 2019 the backup camera stayed on as I was driving down the road. I had to have the computer reset twice. While stopped at a light i had my foot on the break and the vehicle rolled forward and didn't stop me from rear ending the person in front of me at the light. The warning beeped but it didn't brake. Recently I was driving on the highways and my navigation showed that I was driving in a totally different place. Now I had my battery replaced because the auto start and stop wasn't working. When stopping at a red light the vehicle wouldn't start without me putting it in park and restarting it. I have to turn off my auto start stop feature because I'm afraid my vehicle won't start on its own.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing unexpected transmission downshifts while driving. The contact stated that while driving 40-45 MPH in Sport mode with AWD Mode engaged, the vehicle experienced a sudden transmission downshift to 2nd gear, causing the rear wheels to lock up temporarily. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 65 MPH and decelerating to 60 MPH during rainfall, the vehicle experienced a sudden transmission downshift from 10th gear to 3rd gear, causing the rear wheels to lock. The contact stated that the vehicle nearly spun around. The contact shifted to neutral(N) and depressed the brake pedal to remain in control of the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
I never got contacted about any recall on my vehicle from dealership.
I've experienced issues in my 2019 F-150 XLT 4X4 with the 10R80 10-speed transmission. The Ford dealership in Aurora, OH has informed me that a $6,400 transmission rebuild is required. The truck does have 120,000 miles on it but whatever happened to "Built Ford Tough"? HELP!!
Phaser Cam issue at 61k miles. Dealership Service verify issue. No warning light. Rattle when cold start.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that there was an abnormal sound coming from the cam phasers. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine was overheating. The contact stated that the failure was related to Customer Satisfaction Programs: 21B10 and 21N03. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the failure was due to the cam phaser. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was offered assistance with the repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
I see there is a current recall on 2021-2024 Ford F150 vehicles for backup camera failure. I am having the exact issue on my 2019 Ford F150. How can I get my vehicle added to the recall list to fix the issue?
Vehicle will downshift from 10th gear to 1st gear at highway speeds. Vehicle lunges forward after stoplight restarts. 3rd to 4th and 9th to 10th gear shifts are extremely delayed and transmission slips during shifts. Transmission makes very loud noises and clunks when driven. Transmission lags and delays when going into reverse.
The 10R80 transmission on a 2019 F150, with 56,000miles failed on multiple times. It would slip out of gear especially in the lower gears. It has even shifted from 10/9 gear into neutral and then back into 4 gear and stall on the highway. The transmission , make noise, grinds through t the gears all the time. The engine warring lights are on. The vehicle is unsafe to drive with transmission failure and stalling in intersections, while passing and even shifted to low gears or neutral while driving on the highway at 65+ mph. Additionally it causes the engine to race at a high rate of speed or quit. The vehicle is currently at the local Ford Dealer,. The vehicle has been assessed and problem has been identified. The recommended bulletin actions completed. The repairs failed and the vehicle returned due to its unsafe condition. Dealer still has the vehicle and recommended that the transmission be replaced. Dealer filled a claim with my Extended Warranty, who is aware of the problem.
The truck started to have a slight shutter when driving around 80,000 miles. it now shutters all of the time while driving. They trucks shakes. i called my local mechanic and he stated he is having a lot of calls with this make and model truck. he stated that the problem is in the transmission. the inside of the drum that houses the transmission fluid is breaking down the inside and its shredding to pieces. i was informed to call the ford dealership to see if mine was on the recall list but it is not. they acted like there hasn't been a recall for this matter. i have been stopped by random people asking if i was having this problem because them to was having the same issues. i do not feel like we as the consumers should have to pay to have this issue fixed, which is resulting in new transmissions when the problem is because of manufacturing issues. my local mechanic is saying it's costing people upwards of $8,000 to have this fixed and that is unacceptable.
The 10R80 10 speed automatic transmission has faulty design that causes the truck to lurch and clunk while shifting. This induces dangerous shifts between high and low gears and a high rate of speed. It also results in loss of power while trying to merge onto the highway.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that after the engine warmed up the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the cam phasers. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnostic result. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 100,000.
While driving down a busy road my wrench light appeared on my dash and made a dinging noise. As soon as I saw/heard that I could hear a faint ticking noise. Soon after, my engine quit running and I was stalled out in the middle of a lane on a busy road. I was unable to start my vehicle after that. My engine had seized. There was no prior check engine lights or anything. I had only owned the truck 1 year and 4 months and had put 13,000 miles on it. Always kept good maintenance and there was no prior indications that there was something major wrong
