CONSUMER REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 55MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS NOT INJURED. *AK
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED FOR NO APPARENT REASON, FALSED DEPLOYMENT. YH
WHEN DRIVER WAS REVERSING HE COULD NOT SEE CLEARLY THE BACK OR TRAIL OF THE VEHICLE. ON THE RIGHT SIDE MIRROR IT WAS HARD TO FOCUS. *AK
WE'VE BEEN PREVIOUS NEW FORD TRK OWNERS - AND HAVE NEVER ENTAILED SUCH A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. WE FEEL THAT THERE IS MORE THAN ADQUATE REASON THAT FORD SHOULD GIVE PRIORITY ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. AT GENERAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THEN WHEN BEGINNING TO APPLY BRAKES, ALL OCCUPANTS CAN EASILY FEEL VERY HARD ERRATIC TREMBLING BEGIN ON THE FRONT END. WHEN HAVING OUR DEALER CHECK INTO THIS, HE ASSURED US THAT THE FRONT END WAS OKAY, BUT THAT EXCESSIVE HEAT IS CAUSING THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS TO DISTORT, AND THEREBY NEEDS LATHING/CUTTING - TO CORRECT, AND RID THE PROBLEM OF THE TREMBLING WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT WE HAVE HAD TO RESORT TO HAVING THE ROTORS LATHED. OUR TWO PRIOR FORD F-250HD TRUCKS THAT WE'VE OWNED, NEVER DISPLAYED THESE PROBLEMS IN ANY FORM.*AK
TREAD STARTED TO SEPERATE ,CONTACTED LOCAL FORD DEALER WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND WENT TO LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER HE CHANGED THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AFTER THIS TIRE WAS REPLACED I PAID $ 565 TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES WITH MICHELINS AS I HAD NO FAITH IN FIRESTONE TIRES, MY FEARS HAVE BEEN REALIZED SINCE RETURNING HOME AND SEEING THAT AN ACTIVE INVESTAGATION IS UNDERWAY CONCERNING THESE TIRES DATED SEPT 29,00 I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I AS A CONSUMER HAVE ANY RECOURSE AGAINST FIRESTONE FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE MONEY I SPENT TO GET THESE UNSAFE TIRES OFF MY FAMILY TRUCK I THANK GOD THAT I DID (TIRESIZE: 265-75-16)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 265-75-16 )

RECALL 99V311 000/FMVSS 301 CONCERNING FUEL EMISSION CONTROL VALVE. DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR RECALL . DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY WOULD CALL MANUFACTURER, AND MANUFACTURER WOULD CALL CONSUMER WITHIN 3 WEEKS. THUS FAR, NO CALL RECEIVED. SEEKING HELP FROM NHTSA IN THIS MATTER. OWNER TOOK VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER, AND AS SOON AS THE PARTS COME IN THEY WILL REPAIR THE RECALL. *AK *ML
6 ALIGNMENTS IN 24,000 MILES, A BROKEN 14MM SUSPENSION BOLT, A STEERING GEARBOX FAILURE, 3 SETS OF BRAKES & ROTOR/CALIPER REPLACEMENT INDICATES MAJOR DESIGN/MATERIAL & QUALITY PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO LEFT ME STRANDED 5 TIMES FOR OTHER NOT LISTED ENGINE RELATED FAILURES. FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS IS USELESS, COULD CARE LESS & IS NON-SUPPORTIVE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 4 HOURS FROM HOME ENGINE FAILED, HAS BEEN 26 DAYS AND STILL NO REPLACEMENT. *AK

THE VEHICLE'S HIGH IDLE CONDITION PERSISTED EVEN AFTER MOTOR CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING IS NOT UPDATED. YH
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN HIGH BEAMS FAILED, THERE WAS NO LIGHT AT ALL. CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT HE MUST HIT SWITCH ON DASH, AND SWITCH IT TO LOW BEAMS. *AK CONSUMER BELEAVE THAT THIS TO BE A DESIGN PROBLEM. *YH
ENGINE LEAKING OIL THROUGH HEAD GASKET. FOUR ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM BEGAN @ 17, 000 MILES. CURRENTLY VEHICLES HAS 67,000 MILES. FIRST ATTEMPT TOOK OVER 6 WEEKS TO COMPLETE. ALL OTHER ATTEMPTS TOOK 1 WEEK. ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WITH CARBON BUILD UP IN THE ENGINE HAVE OCCURED INBETWEEN REPAIR ATTEMPS. ANY ATTEMPT TO CONTACT FORD TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM WAS A DEAD END.
NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS DURING VEHICLE COLLISION. *MJS
MAJOR OIL LEAK COMING MOST LIKELY COMING FROM THE AREA OF THE LEFT HEAD WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE BLOCK OR IN THAT VICINITY. I NOTICED A LITTLE OIL THE WEEK PREVIOUS ON THE DRIVE WAY BUT WAS NOT TO CONCERNED AS I HAD JUST CHANGED OIL. YESTERDAY, BEFORE LEAVING TO CHRISTMAS SHOP I FUELED UP AND CHECKED THE OIL IT WAS ABOUT 2 QTS. LOW SO ADDED OIL. THIS MORNING 12/19/99 I NOTICED A LARGE QUAINTLY OF OIL UNDER THE TRUCK SO I AGAIN CHECKED THE OIL. WHILE DRIVING THE DAY BEFORE THE ENGINE HAD LOST ABOUT 2 GALLONS OF OIL IN APPROXIMATELY 85 MILES OF DRIVING. DURING THIS DRIVE I NOTICED NO CHANGE IN OIL PRESSURE OR ANY OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE HOPEFULLY THE GAUGES ARE OPERATING CORRECTLY. THERE WAS SO MUCH OIL UNDER THE TRUCK THAT IT HAD SATURATED THE LEFT REAR BREAK CALIPER AND THE ENTIRE UNDER BODY OF THE VEHICLE. I PLAN ON TAKING THE TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER MONDAY MORNING.
ACCUMULATION OF ROCKS IN THE GEAR HOUSING UNDER VEHICLE CAUSES GEAR SHIFT NOT TO PROPERLY SHIFT INTO PARK. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT AN EMERGENCY STOP SITUATION IT CAUSED VEHICLE TO PULL TO RIGHT. VEHICLE BEEN IN / OUT OF DEALER SHOP ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND UNABLE TO LOCATE CAUSE. *AK CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE IS STILL PULLING TO THE RIGHT UPON BRAKING. *SLC
THE FAILURE IS THAT STEERING LOCKS UP WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. THE HARDER THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED THE HARDER IT IS TO TURN THE WHEEL, UNTIL A POINT IS REACHED WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL CAN NO LONGER BE TURNED. *AK

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH HAD A DIRECT FRONTAL IMPACT WITH A TRUCK TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANT IN THE CRASH. OTHER TRUCK'S AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

WENT BACK & FORTH, BACK & FORTH. THEN RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE, INDICATING WORK NOT DONE. OWNER GETTING FRAUSTRATED & UPSET. *AK
RECEIVED RECALL 99V093000 OVER 8 WEEKS AGO. CONTACTED DEALER TO SET AN APPOINTMENT. WAS INFORMED NO PARTS AVAILABLE. WOULD NOTIFIED WHEN PARTS WERE IN. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER, WHO IN TURN, SAID TO CONTACT DEALER. CONSUMER HAS BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND TRYING TO GET RECALL REPAIR WORK DONE. *AK
THIS TRUCK HAS MANY PROBLEMS. STRARTING WITH THE TRANSMISSION GOING OUT, THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRUCK THERE IS A DISTINCTIVE "CLUNK" WHEN PUT INTO GEAR; EITHER FORWARD OR REVERSE. THEN GOING INTERIOR; THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT COMES ON IT THINKS THAT THE DOORS ARE NOT SHUT, BUT YOU CAN SLAM ALL 4 DOORS SHUT AND IT STILL THINKS THE DOORS ARE "AJAR" SO THAT WILL KEEP THE INTERIOR LIGHT ON WHILE DRIVING. THE INTERIOR LIGHT WILL GO OUT IF YOU GET UP TO ABOUT 20 MPH, THEN WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN TO UNDER 20MPH IT WILL COME BACK ON. THE "WARNING BELL" COMES ON AND STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE TRUCK IS SHUT OFF. NEXT THE SEAT BELTS WILL SOME TIMES WORK AND SOME TIMES NOT. EITHER THE ARE HARD TO PULL OUT OR THEY WILL NOT RETRACT. THE TAILGATE COVER HAS WARPED IN NOT EVEN 1 YEAR AFTER WE HAD IT.
POWERSTEERING HOSE BROKE, CAUSING A LEAKAGE. WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, THERE WEREN'T ANY BRAKES. CONSUMER PRESSED HARD ON THE BRAKES, AND AFTER A DELAY, THE BRAKES KICKED IN. *AK
LINKAGE CAME APART. DRAG LINK AND SLEEVE WERE STRIPPED AT THREADS. REPLACED DRAG LINK AND ADJUSTING SLEEVE.
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH T CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. APPLIED THE BRAKES,AND VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT STOP. CONSUMER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF TO GAIN CONTROL. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
FRAME IS BENT WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE TO GO DOWN THE ROAD SIDEWAYS. *AK
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION @ 50MPH,.UPON IMPACT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND SEAT BELT DID NOT RETRACT, CAUSING MINOR INJURIES. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
SIDEWALL COMPLETELY BLEW OUT OF TIRE WHILE DRIVING ON I35 NORTH OF EDMOND, OK. THE BLOWOUT CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE'S BACK QUATERPANEL AND TO THE WHEEL ITSELF. I HAD TWO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE THAT CAN STATE THAT I DIDN'T RUN OVER SOMETHING IN THE ROAD. I TOOK THE TIRE TO FRED JONES FORD AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO FIRESTONE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE, THE MANGER SAID THAT I MUST HAVE RAN OVER SOMETHING IN THE ROAD BECAUSE THEIR TIRES DO NOT FAIL ON THEIR OWN. ANYWAY, HE EXAMINED MY TIRE AND HE COULD NOT FIND A PUNCTURE, BUT HE STILL SAID THAT I HAD TO HAVE PUNCTURED THE TIRE. FIRESTONE EVENTUALLY PAID FOR HALF THE COST OF THE NEW TIRE, BUT THEY DIDN'T PAY FOR THE BODY DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THE ONLY REASON I AM REPORTING THIS IS BECAUSE I SAW THAT FIRESTONE HAD RECALLED OTHER TIRES AND I DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO BE KILLED BECAUSE THESE ARE DIFFERENT TIRES THAN THE ONES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. VEHICLE EXPERIENCING COURTESY LIGHT INTERMITTENTENTLY COMING ON WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND BEING INSPECTED AS OF NOW. *AK
THIS MAY BE IMPORTANT ON FINDING OUT WHY THESE TIRES ARE BLOWING. ONE OF MY TIRES BLEW OUT. BUT ON THE OTHER TWO THE VALVE STEMS WERE LEAKING AIR AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE (EACH AT DIFFERENT TIME). WHEN WE STOPPED THE TRUCK WE NOTICED THE TIRE LEAKING AIR AND HAD A FLAT IN A MATTER OF MINUTES (NO WE DIDN'T HIT OR RUN OVER ANYTHING IN THE ROAD). THIS LEAKING VALVE STEMS HAVE MADE ME BELIEVE THAT IS WHY BRIDGESTONE KEEPS SAYING THE TIRES ARE UNDER INFLATED. I BELIEVE THE STEMS START LEAKING AS YOU ARE DRIVING WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE BLOW OUT. WE WERE LUCKY WITH THE LAST TWO TIRES THAT WENT FLAT, AS WE WERE ON SURFACE STREETS AND NOT ON THE FREEWAY.( DOT NUMBER: EXBM14480- TIRE SIZE: LT23575R16 )
EVERY 5000 MILES VEHICLE STARTS TO VIBRATE IN FRONT WHEN DRIVING. DEALER HAD TO REPLACE WARPED FRONT ROTORS/CALIPERS AND PADS. THIS HAS BEEN DONE 3 TIMES. *AK
CERTIFIED LTR. FWD TO NHTSA RE PREVIOUS LTR SUBMITTED ON 9/23/04 RE DEFECTIVE CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION FOR A 1999 FORD F250 TRUCK. THE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD, THE CLUTCH ENGAGED TOO CLOSE TO THE FLOOR, THERE WAS DIFFICULTY WHEN GOING UPHILL, AND WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE CORRECTION WAS DONE INCORRECTLY PER VERDE VALLEY FORD. THE CONSUMER WAS SHOWED A BROKEN TAB THAT WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. THE LINE WAS ALSO FULL OF AIR. *SC THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE HAS TO MAKE CERTAIN THE VEHICLE DOES NOT LURCH FORWARD BECAUSE THE CLUTCH RELEASES SO CLOSE TO THE FLOOR AS TO NOT REAR END ANOTHER DRIVER. THE CLUTCH CAN NOT BE FEATHERED TO GET IT STARTED AFTER SHUTTING OFF ON AN UPHILL GRADE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT GEARS CAUSING A PAUSE THAT CAN RESULT IN BEING REAR ENDED. THE CLUTCH WAS REPAIRED AT CONSUMERS EXPENSE. *TC *JB

REPORTING BOTH FRONT AND REAR BELTS ARE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. BELT WOULD LOOSEN BY ITSELF WHENEVER A PERSON MOVES, INSTEAD OF TIGHTENING AND HOLDING THE OCCUPANT. DEALER NOTIFIED AND INFORMED CONSUMERTHAT THE BELT WOULD ONLY LOCK BY ITSELF DURING A VEHICLE COLLISION. CAN NHTSA HELP OR PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER. *AK
