CONSUMER TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR RECALL LETTER THAT WAS RECEIVED. DEALER WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL LETTER. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER,AND THEY TOLD CONSUMER THAT THE FIRST RECALL HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OFF. CONSUMER HAS NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY HAVE INITIATED A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE DEALER. RECALL 98V192/SPEED CONTROL CABLE. *AK
HORN AND THE AIR BAG ARE IN THE SAME PLACE. WHEN TRYING TO USE THE HORN, THE CONSUMER ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO LOOKING DOWN ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO APPLY THE HORN. *AK
CONSUMER TOOK CAR TO DEALER. DEALER SAID THAT THEY REPLACED THE RECALL. CONSUMER RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD. TOOK CAR TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. THEY PUT THE CAR UP, AND SAID THE FIRST RECALL HAD NEVER BEEN TAKEN CARE OFF. *AK
THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE FORD DEALER FOR A SAFETY RECALL PERTAINING TO THE FUEL TANK MOUNTING SYSTEM. THEY COULD NOT COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK BECAUSE THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING FROM A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TANK HAD A PUNCTURE THAT WAS CAUSED BY SOME OBJECT THAT BOUNCED OFF THE ROAD. THE TANK IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND HAS NO SHIELD TO PROTECT IT FROM ROAD DEBRIS. HAD THIS BEEN A GASOLINE TANK INSTEAD OF DIESEL FUEL IT COULD VERY WELL HAVE EXPLODED WHEN THE OBJECT STRUCK THE TANK. THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND AT THE VERY LEAST A SHIELD SHOULD BE MOUNTED ON THE FRAME TO PROTECT THE TANK FROM BEING HIT BY FOREIGN OBJECTS.
STARTED TRUCK. PULLED ONTO THE ROAD AND WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR ALL IT WOULD DO WAS IDLE. PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR 4 TIMES AND STILL THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND. ALL IT WOULD DO WAS IDLE
WHILE DRIVING A BOLT BROKE OUT OF THE STEERING MANUAL SHAFT SECTOR, CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL. *AK
1.WHILE BRAKING, BRAKES RELEASE WHEN TRUCK HITS A BUMP IN THE ROAD. BRAKES RELEASING AT THE WRONG TIME CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS. 2. TREAD SEPERATED FROM THE TIRE CASING (DOT NUMBER: VNW8 1XL TIRESIZE: 265/175R16)
UPON BRAKING, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AFTERWHICH A FLASH FIRE DEVELOPED WHICH DID EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO WIREING, STEERING COLUMN SHAFT & GEAR BOX, 4WD ACTUATION LINES ETC. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE BRAKE SERVICE & RECALLS ON THE BRAKES. FORD HAS REDESIGNED THE FRONT ROTORS & HUBS BUT REFUSES TO UPGRADE EARLY PRODUCTION VEHICLES. ALL EARLY PRODUCTION 1999 FORD F250SD VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM REPLACEMENT. THE ROTORS WARP, THEY SHAKE WHEN STOPPING, THEY HAVE HAD MULTIPLE REAR BRAKE RECALLS, THE ANTILOCK BRAKES RELEASE & WILL NOT STOP ON ROUGH ROADS & NOW MINE WENT ON FIRE. THESE TRUCKS ARE DEATH TRAPS! THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WITH A VEHICLE THAT HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVEN 3 MILES, & HAD NO LOAD IN THE BED. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS IN THE MOUNTAINS OF PENNSYLVANIA TOWING MY 5000 LB TRAILER & LOST THE BRAKES & HAD A FIRE ? WHEN I REPORTED THIS INCIDENT TO FORD I GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY REALLY DIDN'T CARE.
WHEN VEHICLE SHIFTED GEARS IT VIBRATED FOR A QUICK SECOND. ALSO, WHEN VEHICLE REACHED 43MPH, IT VIBRATED REAL HARD. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY CHANGED THE TIRES. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN AGAIN, AND DEALER THEN ADMITTED THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM AND HE HAD NO CLUE. *AK
PE 00020; ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A FORD F250, 265/75R16, DOTVNW81XM089. WHILE DRIVING WITH 5TH WHEEL ON BACK AND RIGHT REAR TIRES BLEWOUT. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL. TREAD DAMAGED THE VEHICLE.*AK THE SIDE WALLS BLEW AWAY FROM THE TREAD LEAVING THE TREAD INTACT, AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BUT FIRESTONE PAID FOR IT. *YH
ON VACATION TO ALASKA IN THE SUMMERTIME HAD THE A/C ON MAXIMUM. IT WAS VERY HUMID AND HOT, AND WIFE BECAME ILL. CONTACTED DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED A STRONG MOLD ODOR COMING OUT OF AIR CONDITIONING. SOLD THE CUSTOMER A ENVIRONMENT KIT. ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL, THE A/C VENTS SHOULD ALWAY REMAIN OPEN EVEN WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF. *AK

THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF LOW GEAR ,AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE DEALER HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE . *AK
SIDE MIRRORS USED FOR TOWING, EXTEND TOO FAR OUT WHEN VEHICLE NOT TOWING. CAN NOT PULL MIRRORS IN OR SHIFT TO DIFFERENT POSITION IN ORDER FOR MIRRORS NOT BE HIT. ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD HIT SIDE MIRRORS. THEY HAD SHATTERED GLASS ONTO DRIVER'S SIDE IN THE PROCESS. *AK
GEM MODULE REPLACED 6 TIMES, FIRST DAY CONSUMER TOOK DELIVERY OF VEHICLE. 4 WHEEL DRIVE FUNCTION CAME ON ON IT'S OWN, WOULD NOT DISENGAGE UNTIL VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WILL NOT COME ON WHEN CONSUMER NEEDS IT TO COME ON.*AK
ENGINE WAS LEAKING OIL AT 8577 AND 9830 MILES ON VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP EXAMINED VEHICLE, AND DETERMINED THERE WERE TWO LEAKS. REAR MAIN SEAL AND ENGINE OIL PAN WERE LEAKING ON FIRST OCCURRENCE. DEALERSHIP PATCHED LEAK WITHOUT PULLING ENGINE. ON SECOND OCCURRENCE, DEALERSHIP HAD TO PULL ENGINE, AND FOUND THAT OIL PAN AND TRANSMISSION PAN WERE LEAKING OIL. *AK
INTERIOR LIGHT & CARGO LIGHTS/ DOME LIGHT STAY ON, EVEN AFTER THE KEY IS OUT OF IGNITION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING ON TURN SIGNAL ,TURN SIGNAL WON'T STAY ON. *AK
NO MATTER HOW CONSUMER ADJUSTS THE MIRRORS THERE IS STILL A BLIND SPOT. *AK
WHENEVER BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND WHEN RUNNING OVER A BUMP, IT CAUSES A MOMENTARY LOSS OF BRAKES. VEHICLE BEEN IN DEALER SHOP ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
THIS VEHICLE HAS A SEVERE LACK OF ACCERATION BETWEEN 3500 AND 4500 RPMS. I TOW A 30' 5TH WHEEL TRAILER AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE OR ANYTIME I LOOSE POWER BECAUSE OF A HILL I WILL STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL FOR PASSING GEAR. THE TRUCK WILL BEGIN TO INCREASE IN SPEED UNTIL IT GETS TO 3500 RPMS AND THEN LOOSES POWER AT ONCE. THIS CONTINUES UNTIL 4500 RPMS AND THEN IT SEEMS TO GO INTO ANOTHER PHASE AND ACTS LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEFORE BY A GREAT INCREASE IN POWER. I HAVE HAD THIS TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND ALTHOUGH THEY ADMIT ITS A PROBLEM THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. TODAY AFTER THE 4TH TRY I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DROVE A NEW 2000 F250 WITH A V10 MOTOR AND IT DID THE SAME THING. BECAUSE OF THAT THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT CORRECTABLE BECAUSE IT IS A PROBLEM THAT IS COMMON WITH THIS MOTOR. HOGWASH! I TOLD THEM THAT 2 PROBLEMS DON'T MAKE A CURE BUT I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE TO DO. THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE BECAUSE I AM SURE THAT I HAVE CAUSED A LOT OF PROBLEMS BEHIND ME WHEN I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO PAS OR INCREASE SPEED ON A HILL AND BECAUSE OF THIS LOSSE OF POWER HAVE IMPEADED TRAFFIC AND CAUSE UNCALLED FOR CONGESTION. MY CALL TO FORD'S CUTOMER SERVICE LINE WASN'T ANY BETTER THAT MY CONVERSATION WITH PRESTON FORD'S SERVICE PEOPLE. A LOT OF DOUBLE TALK THAT MEANT THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO SO THEY PUNTED. PE00020; TIRE TREAD SEPARATION: WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 75 MPH, ABOUT 90% OF THE TREAD ON THE DRIVER'S FRONT SIDE TIRE CAME OFF. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE. 1999, FORD, F250. TIRE SIZE LT 265/75R16, DOT # VNW81XL, ORIGINAL TIRE EQUIPMENT. TIRE MILEAGE ABOUT 20,000. OWNER TRIED TO CONTACT FIRESTONE, BUT GOT THE RUN AROUND. TRUCK WAS REGISTERED TO BENITO CANTU. REPORT GIVEN BY FRIEND. *AK THE CUSTOMER GOT NEW ALULMINIUM RIM INSTALLED. THE RIGHT FRONT SHOCK WAS LEAKING. WATER WAS COMING INTO AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY. *YH
ROTORS WARPED WITHIN 25000 MILES OF USE, DEALERSHIP TURNED ROTORS, WARPED AGAIN; ROTORS REPLACED, WARPED AGAIN AFTER 1500 MILES. VEHICLE USE IS LIGHT W/OCCASIONAL TOWING, WITHIN VEHICLE RATING. DLRSHIP STATED ROTOR PROBLEM KNOWN & COMMON IN THIS MODEL.*AK
DRIVING DOWN A DRY ROAD WITH THE 4 -WHEEL DRIVE AND UPON MAKING A SHARP LEFT OR RIGHT TURN THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS WILL LOCK UP. CONTACTED DEALER CLAIMS THIS IS ORMAL. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE HIT A BUMP IN ROAD, VEHICLE WOULD SHOOK/VIBRATED, STRAYED INTO ANOTHER LANE. VEHICLE LOST CONTROL. BEEN TO DEALER & MECHANIC CANNOT LOCATE CAUSE OF VIBRATION. BELIEVED STABLIZER WAS DEFECTIVE. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY. INSUFFICIENT ADJUSTMENT SPACE IN LATCH ASSEMBLY TO CORRECT PROBLEM
WHEN I PUT MY TRUCK INTO GEAR AND INITIALLY START OUT THERE WAS KNOCKING AND CLUNKING COMING FROM UNDER THE RIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE) FLOOR BOARDS. CLUNKING SEEMED SIMILAR TO BAD U-JOINTS WHEN TORQUE IS PUT ON THEM. CLUNKING COULD BE FELT ON FLOOR. I HAD IN TO DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE THEY WERE ABLE TO FEEL AND HEAR CLUNKING. THE KNOCKING AND CLUNKING IS MORE PREVELANT IN WARM WEATHER. NOW I AM TOLD BY DEALER ( PLACE MOTOR, 19 THOMPSON ROAD-ROUTE 193,WEBSTER, MA,01570, PH.#5089438010) THAT THIS IS "UNDER INVESTIGATION" BY FORD MOTOR CO. I ASKED WHAT MY OPTIONS WERE BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE DRIVING A NEW VEHICLE AROUND WITH THE CLUNKING AND NOTHING BEING DONE. AT THIS POINT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND THAT THESE PROBLEMS HAPPEN AND IT TAKES TIME TO FIND THEM. I WASN'T HAPPY WITH THE WAIT UNTIL IT FALLS OFF ATTITUDE I GOT, NOT NECESSARILY FROM THE DEALER BUT FROM FORD. THIS IS THE SECOND NEW VEHICLE WE HAVE PURCHASED FROM FORD THAT HAS HAD THE "UNDER INVESTIGATION" LABEL PUT ON IT. I HAD A 1997 FORD EXPEDITION THAT, ON COLD START UPS, HAD A TWO TO THREE MINUTE ENGINE RAPPING NOISE THAT WAS ALSO "UNDER INVESTIGATION". IT SOUNDED AS IF NO OIL WAS GETTING IN THE ENGINE FOR THE LONGEST TIME. THIS PROBLEM TURNED US OFF FROM BUYING OUT OUR VEHICLE FROM ITS LEASE PROGRAM. 2 FOR 2 DOES NOT MAKE ME VERY KEEN ON FORD QUALITY OR ITS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, ESPECIALLY ON $30,000. TO $40,000. VEHICLES *AK.
TAIL LIGHTS KEEP BLOWING OUT EVERY THREE MONTHS DUE TO OVERHEATING OF THE SOCKETS, CAUSING THE BULBS TO FALL OUT OF THE SOCKET. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE EXCEPT KEEP ON REPLACING THE SOCKETS. *AK *ML
AFTER BRAKE WORK WAS PREFORMED ON VEHICLE. WHEN HAULING AND UPON BRAKING VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE. CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED DEALER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE WHEN METAL BRAKE LINE BROKE COMPLETELY. NO WARNING. BRAKE WAS FINE THEN NEXT DEPRESSION OF PEDAL, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING. WHEN GOING DOWN HILL A PART WITHIN THE TRANSFER CASE WORE OUT, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO NEUTRAL, ALLOWING THE VEHICLE PICK UP SPEED AND RUN AWAY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 35/40 MPH AND BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THEY DON'T HOLD AND THE VEHICLE VIBRATES. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. MR
WHEN COMING TO A STOP DRIVER HIT BRAKES AND VEHICLE STARTED TO BOUNCE, AND VEHICLE WENT THROUGH THE LIGHT. CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS VERY UNSAFE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ,AND THEY REPLACED BRAKES AND ROTORS 4 TIMES. *AK
WHILE IN A CAR CRASH AT 45 MPH, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS ONE FATALITY AND TWO PASSENGERS SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK
THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERS 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE INTERIOR LIGHT COMES ON AT VARIOUS TIMES AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF UNLESS I PULL THE FUSE. A MODULE WAS CHANGED BY THE DEALERS AND NOW THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM, BUT, ADMIT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL OF THESE FAILURES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH DRIVER PUSHED THE FRONT STEERING SENSOR BUTTON ON THE GEAR SWITCH AND VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER, INCLUDING POWER BRAKES AND STEERING. VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO NEUTRAL TO START AGAIN / COME TO A STOP. *ML
THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT, THE TIRE WERE CUPPING ON THE EDGES, THE CLOTH SEAT WERE WEARING, THE RADIUS ARMS WERE LOOSE, THE LIGHTS WERE INOERATIVE, THERE WAS A SQUEAK IN THE COWEL, THE ENGINE EXPERIENCED GASKET AND SEAL PROBLEMS, HOWEVER ONCE THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED, IT BURNED OIL FAST.*SCC *JB
THE TIRES ARE DRY ROTTING WITH32000MILES THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON HAD TO PULL THE BULB. THE DOOR LOCK NOB ON INSIDE OF DOOR BROKE, THE BRAKE PAD RUBBER ON THE PEDAL I HAD TO REPLACE THE NEW ONE WAS WORN OUT THE BRAKE PADS ON THE FRONT STARTED SQUEAKING AT ABOUT 22000 MILES THE MOTOR USES ABOUT ONE HALF QUART OF OIL AT EACH OIL CHANGE AND I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER( DOT NUMBER: ? WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT FULL THROTTLE, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO REAR END VEHICLE IN FRONT. *AK
LIFT: WHEEL/TOWING APPARATUS ON VEHICLE CAUSES VEHICLE TO MOVE FROM SIDE TO SIDE, ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING A TRAILER. IT ALMOST CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLLOVER WHICH MAY CAUSE A CRASH AND INJURIES. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
HWY SPEED STEERING ERRATIC, FLOATING, JERKING. *AK
THE CUP HOLDERS WILL NOT PROPERLY HOLD CUPS WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNING OR WHEN VEHICLE MAKES SHARP TURNS. THE CONTENTS OF THE CUPS WILL SPILL ON THE DRIVERS OR THE PASSENGERS LEGS DEPENDING ON WHICH DIRECTION THE VEHICLE IS TURNING.
THE SECOND GEAR HAS GONE OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. *JB *SC THE LIGHTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR WERE INOPERATIVE. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT.
EXCESSIVE SHAKING AND LOSS OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE BEEN TO THE DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS, AND THE PROBLEM REOCCURRING. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
TRUCK HAS BEEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR VIBRATION IN DRIVE TRAIN. THEY HAENT BEEN ABLE TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM AT ALL. ALSO THE COIL ON THE #4 CYLINDER HAS GONE OUT TWICE . THE VIBRATIONS HAVE US WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE
CRUISE CONTROL NOT DESIGNED TO AUTOMATICALLY DISENGAGE UPON ENCOUNTERING SLIPPAGE. THIS PROBLEM RESULTED IN SEVERAL CASES OF LOSS OF CONTROL AND ONE ACCIDENT(ROLLOVER) WHEN DRIVING ON SLIPPERY ROADS . WHEN THE VEHICLE ENCOUNTERS SLIPPAGE THE ENGINE GOES BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN FULL THROTTLE AND IDLE, THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES UNTIL DRIVER IS ABLE TO DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL.
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WHEN GETTING OFF THE ROAD AND BACK ON, STEERING WHEEL IS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND DRIVER LOSES CONTROL. DEALER IS NOT AWARE OF PROBLEM. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
DUE DEFECTIVE BRAKE LINES, WHICH DEALER REPLACED TWICE, STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIGOROUSLY. THIS MAY CAUSE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL AND COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.
