IT IS UNSAFE FOR ANYBODY TO BE RIDING IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY HEAD RESTRAINTS FOR ANY PASSENGER RIDING IN THE REAR. CONSUMER STATES THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT. *AK

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES THEY ARE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. CONSUMER HAS BEEN WAITING FOR PARTS FOR ABOUT EIGHT MONTHS. *AK
THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHUDDER WHEN BRAKING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (60-65MPH AND SOMETIMES LESS). IN JANUARY OF '99 THE FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE TURNED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AGAIN AND THE ROTORS HAD TO BE TURNED A SECOND TIME IN OCTOBER OF '99. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS ABOUT 17K MILES. THE SHUDDERING HAS THE POTENTIAL OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR PEMATURE FAILURE OF NOT ONLY THE BRAKE PARTS BUT ALSO THE FRONT END COMPONENTS.

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WILL PULL TO THE LEFT. CONSUMER HAS TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL REAL TIGHT IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, AND THE DEALER TOOK THE VEHICLE OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND COULDN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK

TRUCK BROKE DOWN ON FREEWAY DUE TO LOSS OF OIL WHICH CAUSED ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. OIL GAUGE DID NOT INDICATE A PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND RESTARTED. THE TRUCK THEN MOVED. I STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN - THE TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE TRUCK MOVED WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. IN THE FORD SERVICE LOT THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING AND IN PARK - IT JUMPED INTO REVERSE. FORD REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND TOOK THE TRUCK ON A TEST DRIVE. WHILE ON THE TEST DRIVE THE TECH NOTICED THE REAR END WAS GRINDING. WHEN HE TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP HE FOUND THE BEARINGS HAD COME APART. THEY TOLD ME A NEW REAR END WAS NEEDED. FORD HAS ALSO REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC GAS PEDAL. THEY HAVE REPAIRED WIRING TO CORRECT THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID PROBLEM. THEY HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE RADIO. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN MY POSSESSION FROM 12-3 TO 12-11. EA04006 HAS IFS
STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, PRESSED GAS PEDAL BUT TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE. WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND PRESSED PEDAL AND TRUCK WENT. DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY, TRUCK STARTED COASTING - ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL GAVE NO POWER. FINALLY GOT THE TRUCK TO FORD SERVICE. LEFT THE TRUCK RUNNING AND IN PARK - THE TRUCK JUMPED INTO REVERSE. THE TRUCK LOST POWER AGAIN WHILE THE FORD TECH WAS TEST DRIVING. THEY REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC GAS PEDAL AND THE TRANSMISSION. THEY TOOK THE TRUCK ON A TEST DRIVE AND NOTICED THE REAR END WAS GRINDING. THEY DETERMINED THE CARRIER BEARINGS HAD COME APART. THEY HAVE ORDERED A NEW REAR END. THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID WOULD NOT SPRAY - THEY REPAIRED SOME WIRING TO CORRECT THAT PROBLEM. EA04006 HAS IFS
WHENEVER DRIVING DURING THE DAY OR DURING THE NIGHT INTERIOR LIGHTS & BACK LIGHTS WOULD COME ON & THEN GO OFF. THE FUEL TANK ALSO LEAKED FUEL. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP & WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC THERE WAS NO WAY THE PROBLEM COULD BE CORRECTED. *AK

I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK IN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES TO GET THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD IT FIXED THE FIRST TIME. THE OTHER TIMES I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT YET! A POPPING NOISE COMES FROM THE REAR OF MY 4X4 CREWCAB EVERY TIME THAT I GO OVER A BUMP AT SLOW SPEEDS. *AK

STEERING IS TO REACTIVE TO MINOR MOVEMENTS OF STEERING WHEEL.MINOR MOVEMENTS OF STEERING WHEEL CAUSES VEHICLE TO RESPOND MUCH TO FAST FOR DRIVER CONTROL.LOCAL FORD DEALER ADVISES TO ADJUST TIRE PRESSURES.ALSO STATES FORD KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM BUT DO NOT HAVE ANSWERS OF WHAT TO DO!
THE VEHICLE IS SUPPOSE TO BE EQUIPPED WITH A PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG AND SWITCH, BUT BOTH ARE NOT INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. *AK
THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHICH ACTIVATED , RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AKBRAKING NORMALLY WITH LIGHT BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WHILE GOING OVER BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSES THE ABS TO ENGAGE, ACCOMPANIED BY AN ALARMING LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. AT 20,000 MILES ONGOING PROBLEM WITH LOSS OF POWER AFTER 1/2 HOURS OF RUNNING AND STALLING OUT WHEN APPLYING ACCELERATOR PEDAL FROM A STOP POSITION. VEHICLE BEEN IN DEALER SHOP ON FIVE OCCASIONS, AND PROBELEM STILL REOCCURRING. *AK DEALER HAS REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, AIR FLOW SENSOR, MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, AND THE O2 SENSORS, SOME OF THESE HAVE BEEN REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE AND VEHICLE CONTINUES TO LOSE POWER AND STALL. DOOR AJAR LIGHT ILLUMINATED, DEALER ORDERED LEFT DOOR JAM SWITCH. FUEL GAUGE READS FULL WHEN IT IS NOT, DEALER REPLACED FUEL SENDER. CONSUMER STATES PASSENGER FRONT RIM IS WARPED. SHIFTER HANDLE BEZEL KEEPS POPPING OFF, TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO ALL GEARS, WHEN BACKING IN REVERSE, THER IS A SQUEALING NOISE. LEFT DOOR CYLINDER REPLACED. ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN GOING IN REVERSE. AIR CONDITIONER DOES NOT GET COLD. *SLC
WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD SLUSH ACCUMULATES IN THE FRONT FILTER AIR BOX, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO DIE / FAIL. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE AIR BOX IF THE TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK *YC
THE VEHICLE CAME OUT OF GEAR (PARK), IT PROCEEDED TO ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WAS OPEN AND CAUGHT ON A TREE WHICH WAS NEAR THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO KNOCKED DOWN AND INJURED A 4 YEAR OLD AS IT WAS ROLLING DOWN THE HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWED DOWN BY THE TREE, WHICH BARELY GAVE THE DRIVER ENOUGH TIME TO CLIMB INTO THE VEHICLE AND BRING IT TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE IT WENT BACKWARDS INTO A REVINE. IT HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED WHY THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED.
FIRESTONE STEELTEX REAR PASSENGER TIRE P265/75R16 EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION, DOT VNW81XL198, TIRE WAS REPLACED UNDER ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY. *SLC
MY FORD F250 IS EQUIPPED WITH A TOWING PACKAGE TO TOW A FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. THE TOWING MIRROR IS MY COMPLAINT. THERE IS A LARGE MIRROR ON TOP AND A SMALLER PARABOLIC MIRROR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE MIRROR FRAME. THE UPPER MIRROR IS ADJUSTABLE, BUT THE PARABOLIC MIRROR IS NOT ADJUSTABLE AND YOU CANNOT SEE ANYTHING OUT OF IT EXCEPT FOR THE REAR TIRES OF THE PICKUP AND THE GROUND. IF I WERE ABOUT 5 FEET TALL IT WOULD WORK GREAT, BUT I AM 6'1'' AND CANNOT SEE ANYTHING OUT OF IT THAT WILL HELP ME SEE THE TRAILER OR THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALER, THE FORD DEALERS IN TUCSON, AZ AND THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND HAVE GOTTEN NO SATISFACTORY ANSWER. THE MIRROR NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTABLE FOR PERSONS OF DIFFERENT HEIGHTS. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO AT THIS TIME TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION.
LOUD KNOCKING NOISE FROM ENGINE, DEALER SAID DRIVE IT UNTIL IT QUITS IT IS A GAS ENGINE BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL,, TRANSMISSION WHICH IS A 5 SPEED MANUAL COMES OUT OF GEAR WHEN YOU SHIFT FROM 2 TO 3 THIS HAPPENS ABOUT 20-30% OF THE TIME AT SPEED OF ABOUT 15 ENGINE RPM IS AROUND 3000-3500, HAD A PROUBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WHEN IS WAS 2 DAYS OLD DEALER HAD THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS, NOT TO SURE THAT I WANT THEM TO TEAR INTO THE TRANSMISSION, ENGINE NOISE THE SERVICE MANAGER HAD NO IDEA WHAT THAT PROUBLEM IS.

THIS WAS SECOND TIME. 10/13/98 1180 MI - 3RD OCCURRENCE - SAME BUT GREATER SURGE REQUIRING EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO AVOID HITTING CAR AT INTERSECTION. MORNING - ENGINE COLD. DISTANCE FROM START (HOME DRIVEWAY) TO INTERSECTION APPOX. 200 YARDS. 10/15/98 1308 MI - 4TH OCCURRENCE - LEFT PARKING SPACE AFTER WORK (3:30 PM) AND TRAVELED 100 FEET AND APPLIED BRAKE TO MAKE LEFT TURN. ENGINE SURGED REQUIRING ALL MY POWER TO AVOID CRASHING INTO SIDE OF PARKED VAN WITH PASSENGER INSIDE. 10/21/98 1358 MI - LEFT AT NORTHPORT FORD - COMPANY COULD NOT DETECT ANY PROBLEM AND STILL HAS THE TRUCK (AS OF 10/27/98). I FEAR THAT THE INCREASINGLY POWERFUL ACCELERATIONS WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED WILL RESULT IN AN UNAVOIDABLE ACCIDENT AND AM LEAVING THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS IDENTIFIED AND FIXED. FORD IS TRYING INFLIGHT DETECTOR.
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, CONSUMER'S GRANDSON WAS SITTING UP FRONT WHEN HE WANTED TO LOOK OUT THE WINDOW AND SEE HOW HIGH THEY WERE OFF THE ROAD. HE TOUCHED/GRABBED HANDLE ON PASSENGERS DOOR TO PULL SELF CLOSER TO WINDOW AND REACHED IN TOO FAR, HITTING THE DOOR HANDLE WHICH WAS LOCKED. UPON TOUCHING THE HANDLE WHILE THE DOOR WAS LOCKED THE DOOR UTOMATICALLY POPPED OPEN. THE MAUFACTURER NEED TO PUT CHILD PROOF LOCKS ON PASSENGER DOOR AS GRAB HANDLES ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF DOOR HANDLE. *AK

WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN BRAKING, THE VEHICLE PULLS LEFT (INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC) THE SEVERITY OF THE PULL TO THE LEFT IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE MEASURE OF THE BRAKING AND VEHICLE SPEED (E.G. LOW SPEED WITH LIGHT BRAKING = MODERATE PULL TO THE LEFT AND HIGHER SPEEDS WITH FIRM BRAKING = EXTREME PULL TO THE LEFT). THE FORD DEALER HAS TURNED ALL THE ROTORS, REPLACED A BRAKE LINE, REPLACED THE PADS, REALIGNED THE VEHICLE AT LEAST THREE TIMES, REPLACED THE CAMBER BUSHINGS TWICE, ONCE WITH FORD FACTORY PARTS AND THE LAST TIME WITH AFTER MARKET PARTS (NON-FORD ADJUSTABLE CAMBER BUSHINGS). TRUCK WAS INVOLVED IN AN INTER-SECTIONAL CRASH, IMPACT SPEED ABOUT 40 MPH, AND THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS. THE TRUCK IS BEING REPAIRED BY DEALERSHIP. *AK
I WAS TAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY AT 60 MPH WHEN I CAME UPON A PICK-UP TRUCK THAT WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND RAMMED INTO THE BACK END. THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM WAS TO DO THE REPAIR WORK. THEIR BODY SHOP WAS TO GET WITH FORD TO FIND OUT WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE REASON THEY TOLD ME WAS THAT THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS MOVING SLIGHTLY AND THAT FORD'S AIRBAGS WAS NOT DESIGNED TO GO OFF IN THOSE SITUATIONS. THIS TO ME IS A FEEBLE ANSWER.
THE PROBLEMIS THAT THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARP AND CAUSE SEVERE FRONT END VIBRATION. THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED TWICE AND REPLACED FOUR TIMES ALL UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER AND TO FORD FLEET SERVICE IS DEARBORN AND ALL I CAN GET FROM THEM IS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAYS IIT IS EITHER OPERATOR DRIVING HABITS OR OVERLOAD. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WEITHED TWICE AND IT IS NOT OVERLOADED. THE LOCAL TRUCK DEALER HAS TWO MORE TRUCKS WITH THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM AND ANOTHER WORKER HERE HAS REPLACED HIS ROTORS FOUR TIMES ON THE SAME VEHICLE. THIS TRUCK IS OWNED BY THE UNIVERSITY AND I AM THE ONLY DRIVER. I AN THE DIRECTOR AND FIRE MARSHAL AND THIS VEHICLE IS USED TO RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES. DAILY MILEAGE AVERAGES 125 MILES. 110 ON INTERSTATE 95 AND 15 MILES AROUND THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN ON CITY STREETS. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THIS WITH THE DEALER AND FORD FLEET SERVICE TO NO AVAIL. FORD DOESNOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT. THE SELLING DEALER STATES THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, YET THE LOCAL FORD TRUCK DEALER SAYS HE HAS THREE TRUCKS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT FORD TECH ASSIST CANNOT TELL HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE ROTOR ARE TURNED OR REPLACED, THE PROBLEM TEMPORRILY RESIDES. WITHIN A COUPLE OF THOUSAND MILES IT RETURNS. IT ONLY OCCURS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ANDIS MOST SEVERE BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MPH. IF YOU DRIVE FOR MORE THANT 10 MILES WITHOUT USING THE BRAKES, IT WILL NOT BE NOTICABLE. IF THE BRAKES ARE USED, EVEN LIGHTLY, MORE THAN ONCE WITHIN A 5 MINUTE PERIOD, THE FRONT ROTORS WILL WARP ANF THE FRONT END WILL SHAKE SEVERELY. IF YOU STOP AFTER THIS, THE FRONT WHEEL RIMS WILL BE SO HOT, YOU CANNOT PUT YOUR AND ON THE RIMS. I AM NOTICING A LOT OF FRONT END WOBBLE RECENTLY AND AM QUESTIONING THE EFFECT OF THE HEAT ON THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINS. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THE TOWING MIRROR POSES A SAFETY HAZARD. CANNOT SEE BACK OF TRAILER. MIRRORS ARE IN FIXED (STATIONARY) POSITION. *AK
THERE IS A POPPING SOUND FROM RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF VEHICLE. CONSUMER FEELS THAT THERE IS SOMETHING LOOSE OR IT COULD BE METAL FATIGUE WHEN BACKING UP, GOING FORWARD OR WHEN TURNING WHEELS. DOES NOT OCCUR DURING NORMAL DRIVING, ONLY WHEN JUST ACCELERATING. SOUND WILL OCCUR APPROXIMATELY 4 OR 5 TIMES A DAY. DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPRODUCE THE SOUND, AND CANNOT DETERMINE THE DEFECT. *AK

REAR BRAKES ARE NOT FULLY RELEASING, NOT BINDING AND CAUSING THE PADS TO RUB AGAINST EACH OTHER AND BECOME VERY HOT, CAUSING A NOISE AND MORE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE DISCS. MANUFACTURER STATED THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT NO SOLUTION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50MPH THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF CONTROL, UNKNOWN AS TO WHY THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL, AND WENT THROUGH A MAILBOX/TREE/ EMBANKMENT UNTIL IT STOPPED ON A FIELD ON ITS OWN. ALSO, THE BUMPER EXPERIENCED FRONTAL IMPACT DAMAGE, BUT THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANT IN THIS ACCIDENT. CAUSED UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS. *AK
