WHEN ACCELERATING, DRIVER NOTICED AN EXTRA SOUND FROM THE ENGINE (LIKE A SPARK KNOCK). EXAMINATION REVEALED THAT MULTIPLE BOLTS (BOTH MANIFOLDS) HAD BROKEN OFF RESULTING IN THE SOUND. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE'S F250 TRITON V-10? MILEAGE IS 60,000 AND VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED AND NOT ABUSED. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F250. THE CONTACT OWNS A TIRE BUSINESS AND HAS HAD TEN NANKANG MUDSTAR RADIAL TIRES, SIZE 305/70R16 (NA) RETURNED BY CUSTOMERS. THE TIRES ARE COMING APART WITH VERY LOW MILEAGES. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD ASSIST. AS OF APRIL 18, 2008, THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT ASSISTED. THE CONTACT HAS ALL THE RECORDS FOR EACH TIRE THAT WAS REPLACED. NO OTHER VEHICLE OR DEALER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE.
TIRE BEGAN TO BOUNCE AT 40 MPH. RETURN TO RETAILER AND FOUND THAT TIRE WAS SEPARATING. REPLACE 2 TIRES UNDER WARRANTY,LATER 1 MORE TIRE DID SAME . REALTOR WAS ASK IF THIS WAS PROBLEM. NOT A PROBLEM, INSTALLER STATED THEY HAD SEEM MANY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING OUT MY GRAVEL DRIVEWAY WHEN THE CABLE THAT HOLDS THE SPARE TIRE BROKE OFF. CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT NO ONE ELSE HAD EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS INCIDENT IF IT HAD OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY OR WHILE TOWING A TRAILER. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F250 PICKUP. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH AND PULLING A FIFTH WHEEL, THE CONTACT FELT A VIBRATION. A SECOND LATER, SHE HEARD A LOUD BUMP AND THEN A BANG. SHE PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED AND DAMAGED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE FENDER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 54,098. THE PURCHASE DATE OF THE VEHICLE WAS UNKNOWN. WHILE DRIVING A 2000 F-250 FORD PICKUP RIGHT REAR FIRESTONE TIRE BLEW OUT. WE HAD OVER $3,000 DAMAGES TO THE BOX AND EXHAUST OF THE PICKUP. WE REPLACED TIRE OURSELVES AND INSURANCE PAID FOR DAMAGES TO PICKUP. WE HAVE PICTURES AND INSURANCE COMPANY HAS PICTURES AND STILL HAVE WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE TIRE THAT BLEW OUT. DO NOT HAVE PARTS OF PICKUP THAT WERE REPLACED. *AK
CPS FAILURE WHILE PULLING OUT OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F250. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNS OFF THE VEHICLE AFTER IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN, IT WILL SUDDENLY RESTART AUTOMATICALLY. SHE MUST INSERT THE KEY AND TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH ON AND OFF IN ORDER TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 150,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F250. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK AND DECELERATE. THEN, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE METAL ON THE SPARK PLUGS WAS TOO STRONG FOR THE ENGINE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CYLINDER, HEAD, SPARK PLUGS, AND MANIFOLD. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 79,000.*AK THE CONSUMER SPOKE WITH 3 HEAD PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS WHO STATED THAT ENGINES WITH ALUMINUM HEADS ARE PRONE TO THIS KIND OF FAILURE. I HAVE A 2000 FORD EXCURSION WITH THE 7.3 DIESEL ENGINE. ON 1/12/07, WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IT KILLED ON ME. STARTED RIGHT UP AND PERFORMED OK. ON 1/17/07, WHILE ACCELERATING AT ABOUT 7 MILES PER HOUR IT STOPPED RUNNING AGAIN. I'VE PARKED IT UNTIL I CAN DETERMINE WHAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM. IT IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD TO BE STOPPED IN FRONT OF FAST MOVING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. BRUCE MCPHERSON. *NM
2000 FORD F250 LEAKED DIESEL FUEL. *CC WHILE RETURNING FROM A TRIP THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE USING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF FUEL AND WAS NOT GETTING THE PROPER MILEAGE. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER AT A REST STOP AND NOTICE FUEL LEAKING. THE ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE TRUCK WAS COVERED IN FUEL. THE CONSUMER DROVE TO THE NEAREST AUTO PARTS STORE AND REPLACED THE PLASTIC DRAIN VALVE WITH A 3/8 BOLT ON THE METAL DRAIN LINE. *NM
THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMER'S DODGE RAM WAS TOWING (2000 FORD 250) HAD A BLOWOUT. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER OF THE RAM TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND RUN OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE RAM AND TOW VEHICLE ENTERED THE NORTHSIDE DITCH AND THE TOW VEHICLE OVERTURNED. *TS *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE SECTOR SHAFT OF THE STEERING GEAR BOX SNAPPED OFF CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER STEERING RESULTING IN A CRASH INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THIS CRASH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT BODY SHOP. UPDATED 7/21/2006 - *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT IN THE SIDEWALL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OFF THE ROAD AND THE TIRE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE TIRE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A SHARP OBJECT, ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING IN THE ROAD. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WITHOUT WARNING, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE FENDER. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED OFF THE ROAD AND THE TIRE WAS CHANGED. BOTH THE TIRE AND VEHICLE DEALER WERE ALERTED.
SINCE 2006 AND BEFORE, I HAVE HAD UNEXPLAINED INCIDENCES OF BATTERY FAILURES AND DASHBOARD WARNINGS. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED IN 2006 AT MY REQUEST. MY BATTERY WAS REPLACED IN 2006. I ALSO HAD A TEMPORARY ENGINE SHUTDOWN ABOUT THIS TIME. I HAD BATTERY REPLACEMENT IN 2009 AND 2012. ON 11/02/2012 I ATTEMPTED TO START MY F250 ONLY TO DISCOVER ABOUT A PINT OF WATER IN THE FLOOR TRAY. I JUMP STARTED, CONTINUED THE TRIP ONLY TO DISCOVER THE HEATER FAN STILL OPERATING! AFTER FURTHER CHECKS, MY FORD DEALER PROVIDED A TSB 04-23-9 WHICH HAD NO WARNING OF THE POTENTIAL ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTIONS OR DAMAGES AND NOT MAILED TO ME. I HAD THE DEFECT CORRECTED BY A LOCAL SHOP AND FORD WAS MAILED MY COMPLAINT ON 11/28/2012 AND HAVE RECEIVED NO ANSWER. I HAVE HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH MAILING FOR SERVICE AND FORD SHOULD HAVE BEEN REQUIRED TO INFORM ME.
2000 F250 BEGAN TO VIBRATE WHILE DRIVING THEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. *TS *NM
DT: CONTACT STATED WHEN STARTING HER HUSBAND'S VEHICLE HEARD A NOISE. HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. WHEN HE CRANKED THE VEHICLE AND IT MADE NOISES WHILE CRANKING. IT MADE A POPPING NOISE IN THE BACK. THE BUTTERFLY PISTON WAS THE SAFETY DEFECT. *AK
DT: CONSUMER STATES AFTER HAVING DRIVEN ABOUT 300 MILES HIS VEHICLE IT DIED IN TRAFFIC. AT ONE TIME HE HAD A FUEL SENSOR GO OUT, BUT DEALER HAS NOT FOUND OUT WHY THE VEHICLE CUT OFF LIKE IT DID. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE HE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. IT HAS DIED OUT COMPLETELY ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES. IF IT SITS ABOUT 2 DAYS, IT WILL START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER LAST ON 12-03. THE CAR ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT.*AK
DT: LIVE ON LAKE, DRIVEWAY HAS A SLOPE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THE CUT SWITCH OFF GET OUT OF THE TRUCK AND THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING. HAD TO JUMP BACK IN AND MESS WITH THE GEARS IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP.*AK
DT: WHILE DRIVING A SPARK PLUG CAME OUT OF VEHICLE. HAD TO AWAIT FOR PART TO BE ORDERED. TOOK VEHICLE TO A TRUCK STOP FOR REPAIRS. WHEN PLUG WAS TO BE REPLACED THEY DISCOVERED THAT TREADS WERE ALL GONE OUT OF THE HEAD. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP, AND SAID A WHOLE NEW HEAD WOULD BE NEEDED. HAD TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND WOUND COST OVER $3,000 FOR REPAIRS AN A PROBLEM THAT BEGAN WITH A SPARK PLUG. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER WAITING 10 TO 15 MINUTES , THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN. THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND IT WAS, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *SC *JB
RECALL CAMPAIGN 01V258000 CONCERNING WINDSHIELD WIPERS. WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS TOLD THAT THIS VEHICLE DID NOT FALL INTO THIS RECALL ALTHOUGH THE CONSUMER WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK THE WIPERS WERE INTERMITTENT AFTER ABOUT TEN MILES OF OPERATION, THEN WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. A LOCAL FORD DEALER REPLACED THE WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. *SC *JB
WHILE TURNING RIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO DO SO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE VEHICLE DIED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE STARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. *TC
WHILE CHANGING THE OIL, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO STOP FIRE BY PULLING OUT WIRES WHERE FIRE WAS COMING FROM. *NM
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS IT SUDDENLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT NOTIFIED THE OWNER THAT VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE , AND THAT IT SPREAD TO TWO OTHER VEHICLES. OWNER NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO SAID THEY WOULD SEND OUT AN INVESTIGATOR TO EVALUATE THE SITUATION. AS OF TODAY, THE MANUFACTURER HAD DONE NOTHING. *AK

FAILURE OF FIRESTONE STEELTEX LIGHT TRUCK TIRE. THE LEFT REAR OF THE VEHICLE HAD COLLAPSED. THE TIRE HAD SEPARATED AND REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES. THE TRUCK WAS DAMAGE. *BF THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE DAMAGED DONE TO HIS VEHICLE. *SC

I DID NOT BUY NEW, IT WAS FROM LITTLE ROCK,AR,WITH 70K MILES AND WAS DRIVEN OVER ROUGH DUSTY ROADS .
WHILE TOWING THE CAMPER DRIVER HIT A BUMP AND THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER FELL OFF BECAUSE THE CABLE SNAPPED. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH SPARE TIRE CARRIER CABLE LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE BROKE. AS A RESULT, THE SPARE TIRE FELL OFF IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. *AK THE CABLES END HAD COME OF DUE TO THE RUSTING AND FRACTURING OF THE CABLE AT THE END PIECE WHICH WAS CAST ONTO THE CABLE END. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY A FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THESE FAILURES WERE A COMMON PROBLEM. *SC
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE DRIVER CHANGED THE TIRE. FIRESTONE STEELTEX A/T, SIZE 265/75/R16. *AK THE CONSUMER PURCHASED FOUR NEW TIRES. *SC *JB

WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, MAKING IT HARD FOR CONSUMER TO TURN THE WHEEL. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK

CONSUMER STOPPED AT A FIRESTONE DEALERSHIP TO FIND THAT TWO OF THE TIRES, FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE WERE ABOUT TO SEPARATE. 2 TIRES WERE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE AND THE SPARE TIRE WAS PUT ON THE VEHICLE. ONE TIRE WAS BOUGHT TO REPLACE TO HAVE ALL FOUR TIRES THE SAME SIZE ON THE GROUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THOSE TIRES WERE NOT ON RECALL. *AK THE SPARE WAS FROM THE ORIGINAL SET AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. (REAR PASSENGER SIDE) *SCC *JB

CONSUMER WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT. THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD KEPT COMING ON, INDICATING THAT THERE WAS AN AIR BAG PROBLEM. *AK *CB
TRAVELING SOUTH ON HWY 78 IN SACHSE, TX MY ENGINE STALLED AT CRUISING SPEED IF 45 MPH. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKING CONTROL ON MY 2000 F250 DIESEL. I PARTIALLY GOT MY TRUCK INTO A TURN LANE, AND AFTER 5 MINUTES OF REPEATED CRANKING THE TRUCK STARTED AGAIN ONLY TO STALL OUT 15 SECONDS LATER. THE DATE BELOW IS APPROXIMATE, BUT CAN BE VERIFIED AS THE PART WAS CHANGED UNDER WARRANTY, AND EXPLAINED AS NORMAL BY MY DEALERSHIP. *JB
