WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WITHOUT WARNING IMPACT REPORTED. THE CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
THE TREAD ON THE TIRES WORE OUT. CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE HAD 26,000 MILES ON THE TIRES. *AK *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE DAMAGED UNDER THE CARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO CHANGE THE TIRE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. FIRESTONE STEEL TEX P26575R16 LOAD RANGE E #DOT NUMBERVNW81XL1601. THE DRIVER HAS CONTACTED FIRESTONE ON THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AT THIS TIME. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND PULLED OVER. CONSUMER SAW THE SPARK PLUG WAS DEFECTIVE, AND DROVE HOME. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING RIGHT REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRE WAS TAKEN TO THE BRIDGESTONE WHERE IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE LEFT REAR TIRE HAD A KNOT ON IT. MANUFACTURER TOLD CONSUMER TO SEND THE TIRES FOR REPLACEMENT AND THE RECEIPT FOR THE REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE. A LETTER WAS RECEIVED BY CONSUMER STATING THE CLAIM WAS DENIED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONSUMER MAINTAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB A PIECE OF THE TIRE DAMAGED THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT FENDER AND RUNNING BOARD. *NM
DT: CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SEAT BELT LATCH KEEPS COMING UNDONE. CONSUMER LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS RECALL 01V227001. WHEN CONSUMER CONTACTED FORD SHE WAS TOLD THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL. DUE TO VIN. THE BUCKLE STARTED COMING UNDONE ONLY ON BUMPY ROADS. BUT LAST WEEK IT CAME UNDONE TWICE ON A CITY STREET. SHE ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE SHE HAD NOT LATCHED IT PROPERLY, BUT ONCE IT STARTED ON THE CITY STREETS, LATCHING WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED ONCE A YEAR. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE SIDEWALLS WERE COMING OFF THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE TIRES BACK TO THE FIRESTONE, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE ONLY AUTHORIZED TO REPLACE THE TIRES ON THE FORD EXCURSION. THE CONSUMER INSISTED THAT HE HAD THE SAME TIRES AND THEY WERE DOING THE SAME THING. FIRESTONE, LT 265/75R16LRD. *AK FIRESTONE REPLACED THREE OUT OF THE FOUR TIRES. *SC *JB
WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE IN THE SLOW SPEED. WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL WORK IN FAST SPEED IF THEY FUNCTION WHEN ENGAGED. ALSO, WILL NOT WILL NOT GO BACK TO THE START POSITION WHEN TURNED OFF. RECALL 01V258000 WAS ISSUED, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH ENGINE SPUTTERED. CONSUMER PULLED OVER, AND OPENED THE HOOD, AND NOTICED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS SEPARATED FROM WHERE IT WAS CONNECTED TO THE ENGINE. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE LAYING ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THIS OCCURRED BECAUSE OF A FAILURE WITH THE ALUMINUM ENGINE MOTOR HEAD.*AK
VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED OR AT AT STOP POSTION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBEM.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE CAN NOT TRUN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN HE HAS THE BRAKE ON. *TC
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE FOLLOWING WEEK THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT WITHOUT WARNING. NO IMPACT REPORTED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LINE FAILED. THE LINE WAS MADE OF RUBBER. AS A RESULT, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE DRIVER'S FOOT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE DRIVER HAD TO DOWN SHIFT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. *AK *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK
THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE GAS PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE, AND GAS PEDAL IS 1/2 INCH LOWER. WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL CONSUMER CAN HIT THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. DEALER STATES NO MODIFICATION BECAUSE OF DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS. *AK THIS PROBLEM WOULD BECOME WORSE IN THE WINTER WHEN THE CONSUMER WEARS BOOTS. *SC
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. WHEN THE TREAD SEPARATED IT DAMAGED SOME PARTS UNDER THE VEHICLE. *AK
THE SPRAG CLUTCH IS BREAKING ACROSS IN TWO SECTIONS. *MR THE MATERIAL WAS MADE OUT OF A IRON/POWDER MIXTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN NORMAL USE WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THE REPAIR SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO THE LOW MILEAGE. *SC *JB
CONSUMER NOTICED COOLANT LEAKING COOLANT FROM THE ENGINE. DEALER STATED IT WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE TO LEAK ANTIFREEZE. *AK
FAILURE TO REPAIR APPARENT DEFECT @4000 MILES UNDER FORD'S BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. (NAR) *PH *CB
WHEN DRIVING IN SLUSH/SNOW OR WET ROAD CONDITIONS AND DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. WHEN THIS OCCURRED VEHICLE EITHER HAD NO BRAKES OR THE BRAKES LOCKED UP. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HAS HAD TWO FIRESTONE STEELTEX RADIAL TIRE FAILURES. *NM THE FIRST VEHICLE TIRE SEPARATION OCCURED AT 16900 MILES. BOTH FAILURES CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BE UNSTABLE AND WAS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. FIRESTONE REPLACED BOTH TIRES WITH THE SAME MODEL TIRE. *TC
WHILE DRIVING UPHILL AT 15-20 MPH THE DRIVER HEARD A SOUND COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, THEN THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARD. AFTER STOPPING, THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT TO DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE A CLUTCH MECHANISM INSIDE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. *NLM *SCC *JB
THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING 10-15 MPH. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. *NLM THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR HAD GIVEN OFF FALSE POSITIVE READINGS WHICH RESULTED IN THE COMPUTER SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE. THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE WRITER. *SCC *JB
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE LEFT REAR TIRE DISINTEGRATED WITHOUT WARNING. *AK *JB
DT: AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN TIRE BLEW OUT AND VEHICLE HIT THE BERM AND FLIPPED OVER, END OVER END. THE SPEED AT THE TIME OF ACCIDENT WAS 68 MPH. THE TIRE SEPARATED/BLEWOUT AND THE RIM HIT THE GROUND PULLING THE VEHICLE INTO BERM. NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED IN THIS ACCIDENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE MULTIPLE INJURIES. THE PASSENGER SPENT 7 WEEKS IN THE HOSPITAL. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MULTIPLE RIB FRACTURES, A COLLAR BONE FRACTURE AND SHOULDER BLADE FRACTURE. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED MULTIPLE BROKEN RIBS, A BROKEN ARM, BROKEN VERTEBRAE AND VISION AND BALANCE PROBLEMS. NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLES. THE PSI WAS CHECKED REGULARLY, VEHICLE WAS REGULARLY SERVICED. NO WARNINGS OR PROBLEMS WITH TIRES PRIOR TO ACCIDENT.*AK *NM THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. *SC

THE CLUTCH CYLINDER FAILED AND ENGAGED THE CLUTCH. THIS MADE THE VEHICLE TAKE OFF, SOMETIMES SENDING THE CONSUMER INTO THE INTERSECTION OF TRAFFIC. THE CYLINDER HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND IT CONTINUES TO PERFORM THE SAME WAY. *JB

ON MONDAY MAY 12 I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE MY AIR BAD DID NOT ACTIVATE. I WAS DRIVING A 2001 FORD F250, GOING AROUND 40-45 MILES PER HOUR. I RAN INTO THE BACK OF A PERSON THAT WAS SITTING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. I NEVER HIT MY BRAKES SO I HIT HER STRAIGHT IN THE REAR. WHY TYPE OF IMPACT DOES IT TAKE FOR THE SENSOR TO GO OFF FOR AIR BAGS? *NLM

CONSUMER HEARD A BANGING NOISE WHILE DRIVING 55-65 MPH. THEN, HE PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE UNKNOWN SOUND, AND NOTICED THE LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. FIRESTONE STELLTEX, LT265/75R4S. *AK AS A RESULT, REAR FENDER WAS DAMAGED. FIRESTONE DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INCIDENT BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THE TIRES RAN LOW ON AIR PRESSURE. *LA

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F250. THE ENGINE HAS A BOIL HEATER THAT WILL KEEP THE OIL HEATED IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAS HAD TO REPLACE TWO OF THEM WITHIN FIVE YEARS. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PLUG TO THE OIL HEATER WAS DEFECTIVE AND CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE BURNED THE FRONT LICENSE PLATE OF THE VEHICLE AND FRONT BUMPER CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN HIS POSSESSION AND HE REPLACED THE PART HIMSELF. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 03/18/08. *LJ UPDATED 03/18/08 *TR

THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY INDICATED THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE CONSUMER DECIDED TO PURCHASE AND INSTALL A NEW PART AND NOW THE PROBLEM IS GONE. THE CONSUMER LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE PART WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT HER TRUCK WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *NM

PURCHASED 4 GOODYEAR LT30570R16 TIRES AT GOODYEAR DEALER IN ARCADIA, FL TO REPLACE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FIRESTONES TO AVOID TIRE PROBLEM. GOODYEAR DEALER ASSURED US THAT LARGER TIRE WOULD BE ADEQUATE AND SAFE FOR OUR NEEDS EVEN THOUGH WE EXPRESSED CONCERNS. CONTINUED WITH TRAVELS AND IN 6/2001 UPON CROSSING THE US/CANADA BORDER ON THE DIRT AND GRAVEL ROAD KNOWN AS 'THE TOP OF THE WORLD HIGHWAY' GOING 25MPH TOWING A 5TH WHEEL THE LEFT REAR TIRE SPLIT IN TWO CROSSWAYS. I HAD TO DIG A HOLE IN THE ROAD AND WITH THE HELP OF A FRIEND MANAGED TO GET THE TIRE CHANGED. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS THERE WAS A 1,000 FT DROP OFF OF A VERY NARROW ROAD WITH ADDITIONAL MOTOR VEHICLES PASSING DUE TO THE US CUSTOM'S STATION HAVING JUST OPENED FOR THE DAY. RETURNED TIRE TO GOODYEAR DEALER IN FAIRBANKS, AK ON 6/26/01. GOODYEAR REPLACED THE DAMAGED TIRE AND WE WERE FORCED TO PURCHASE A SECOND TIRE , $243, TO HAVE MATCHING TIRES ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. (LT305/70R16 WRANGLER MTR). SECOND INCIDENT IN COLORADO HEADING NORTH ON I-70, 2 MILES FROM THE COLORADO CITY EXIT. TRAVELING AT 60MPH DOWN A VERY STEEP WINDING PORTION OF THE HIGHWAY THE TIRE BEGAN THUMPING AND THE TREAD SEPARATED, BUT THE TIRE REMAINED INFLATED. MANAGED TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND WAS ABLE TO CHANGE TIRE. AGAIN, A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AT SUNSET WITH SEMIS COMING AROUND THE DOWNHILL CURVE AT 75MPH. WITH GOD'S GRACE WE WERE ON A VERY WIDE PORTION OF PULL OFF AND MANAGED TO GET THE TIRE CHANGED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE TRUCK SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER AND DOOR ESTIMATED AT $1,300. I FEEL VERY ANGRY THAT I HAVE HAD TO ENDURE 2 INCIDENCES SUCH AS THIS. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS SAME OCCURRANCE WITH THE WRANGLER TIRES. I FEEL THAT I AM JUST A PART OF A 'CALCULATED RISK' BY GOODYEAR. I NOW HAVE ANOTHER WRANGLER AT/S TIRE THAT IS BULGING. I AM TOLD THAT I MUST REPLACE. DT
THE ONLY REASON THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR INJURIES IS BECAUSE THE VEHICLES AROUND ME WERE PAYING ATTENTION AND GOT OUT OF THE WAY AS I FISH TAILED ACROSS THE LANES OF I-95. DT

WITHOUT WARNING THE HYDRAULIC LINE FROM THE MASTER CLUTCH CYLINDER ?TERM CAME OFF AND RENDERING THE CLUTCH COMPLETELY USELESS (PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND STAYED THERE). WAS LUCKILY IN A PARKING LOT JUST ABOUT TO PULL ONTO A HIGHWAY WITH A 4000 LB TRAILER. REALIZED HOW DANGEROUS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN. FORREST CATE FORD IN LAFAYETTE, GA SAYS THE PART THEY ARE REPLACING IT WITH IS UPDATED SO THAT THE LINE DOESN'T DO THAT. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. IF THAT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH ZERO WARNING, I COULD HAVE HAD PROBLEMS STOPPING QUICKLY OR CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. I WAS LUCKY BUT WANT NO ONE ELSE TO BE UNLUCKY. THANK YOU.*AK
