MY RECENTLY PURCHASED VEE RUBBER A/T TIRE BLEW UP WITH A LOUD BANG SUNDAY MORNING PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THANKFULLY, AND NOT ON THE ROAD. I JUST BOUGHT FOUR TIRES FROM SIMPLE TIRE ON 07/07/2016 AND ONLY PUT 200 MILES ON THEM. IT APPEARS TO ME LIKE AN AIR LEAK DEVELOPED NEAR THE TREAD/SIDEWALL AREA AND DELAMINATED THE SIDEWALL FROM THE INNER LINER AND BLEW OUT NEAR THE BEAD. TIRES: VEE RUBBER TAIGA A/T LT285/75R-16 R 126/123R THE ONLY DATE CODE MARKING I SEE IS 0316?
The contact owns a 2001 Ford F-250 equipped with Toyo tires, Tire Line: HT Open Country, Tire Size: LT265/75/R16, DOT Number: CXLTCAK4815. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking and felt like the front tires were bouncing. The contact veered to the side of the road, where he noticed that the tires were deformed. The contact continued to drive. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the tread belt was separating. The front tires were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred with the rear tires. The vehicle was taken to an independent tire mechanic where the rear tires were replaced under an unknown recall. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred on the front tires. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The tires were not replaced. The tires were replacement equipment. The tire failure mileage was 30,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 230,000.
WIFE WAS DRIVING EAST BOUND ON 580 COMING DOWN WHAT WE CALL THE ALTAMONT PASS ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH MODERATE TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS EMPTY SO THE BOUNCING ON THIS FREEWAY IS PRETTY STANDARD. SHE HEARD A LOAD EXPLOSION AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE. SHE IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SHOULDER AND NOTICED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE WAS SHREDDED ALONG WITH THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK. PRAISE GOD SHE HAD JUST HAD THE TIRES ROTATED OTHERWISE THIS TIRE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FRONT AND PULLED HER ACROSS TRAFFIC. HER SPEED WAS IN THE RANGE OF 55-65 MPH WHICH IS TYPICAL FOR HER AND ON THE FREEWAY THIS TIME OF DAY. CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR AND DRY.

UPDATED 11/19/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE DISCOUNT TIRE MANAGER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRE OR GIVE A DOCUMENT STATING THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE TIRE. THE MANAGER DID BALANCE THE TIRE BUT WOULD NOT PRINT A RECEIPT FOR THE CUSTOMER. ON 10/15/2012 THE CONSUMER FILED A REPORT WITH COOPER TIRE OVER THE PHONE AND WAS TOLD A PACKAGE WOULD BE SENT OUT. MY THIRD UNIROYAL LIBERATOR TIRE HAS FAILED IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE TWO BEFORE. THIS IS MY THIRD COMPLAINT CONCERNING THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES. THESE TIRES ALL FAILED IN THE SAME EXACT MANNER (TREAD/TIRE SEPARATION) AND ALL WITHIN WEEKS OR MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. THE TREAD PULLED LOOSE FROM THE CARCASS,CAUSING A BUMP-IMBALANCE. I RECOGNIZED THE FAILURE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WHERE I CHANGED TO A SPARE. I LATER REPLACED THIS TIRE. THIS TIRE ONLY HAVE ABOUT 37,000 MILES. WALMART,WHERE I PURCHASED THE TIRES,REFUSES TO GIVE ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY OR TIRE CREDIT AND NO LONGER CARRY THIS TIRE. THIS TIRE HAD PLENTY OF TREAD AND WAS WELL WITHIN ITS LIFE SPAN. THIS LIBERATOR TIRE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND PULLED OFF THE MARKET BECAUSE OF ITS CONSISTENT FAILURE RATE. I HAVE SENT COMPLAINTS TO UNIROYAL WITH NO RESPONSE. THE TIRE HAS DOT MARKING AS FOLLOWS: DOT BFW8 C62U 0807, E RANGE RATED. ON MARCH 23 2011 WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH I FELT BAD VIBRATION AND WHEN SAFE, PULLED OFF ROADWAY TO FIND THE RIGHT REAR TIRE TO HAVE A BULGE ON TREAD AND SIDE WALL DISTORTION. I HAVE HAD THIS SAME FAILURE FROM COOPER TIRES WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL AND DESTRUCTION TO QUARTER PANEL. I CHANGED THE TIRE AND LATER (03302011) CONTACTED UNIROYAL WHO OPENED A FILE BASED ON MY PHONE NUMBER([XXX]). UNIROYAL CLAIMS NO RECALL NOR DO THEY ACKNOWLEDGE ANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS TIRE. I HAVE 3 OF THESE TIRES AND HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS ON THE 2-REMAINING TIRES IN USE. BEFORE THE BLOW OUT, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE FOLLOWED BY A LOUD BOOM. HE THEN NOTICED THAT THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE BEFORE IT FLATTENED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD BEFORE A CRASH OCCURRED. THE TIRE WAS A CONTINENTAL GENERAL LT 265/75R16 TIRE, WHICH IS NOT THE STANDARD ISSUE TIRE FOR HIS VEHICLE. THE TIRE WAS ALSO UNAVAILABLE IN THE DROP DOWN MENU AT THE TIME OF THIS COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND SENT THEM THE FAILED TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HE MUST HAVE STRUCK SOMETHING IN THE ROAD TO CAUSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE FAILURE AND THE MANUFACTURER IS RETURNING THE TIRE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 118,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.

THE TIRES WERE DISCOVERER H/T (P22575R15). THE DOT # LISTED WAS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOT # WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 50,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
