2008 FORD F-250 SUPERDUTY DRIVING AT 40-70 MPH STRAIGHT OR TURNING (IE: ON A FREEWAY FLY-OVER). THE FRONT-END SHAKES/SHIMMIES WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP, POTHOLE, OR SURFACE THAT IS UNEVEN TO THE POINT YOU LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE. HAPPENS MOST ALL THE TIME IF ON FLY-OVER, AND ON STRAIGHT ROADS SOMETIMES. HIT A MINOR SEAM IN THE PAVED ROAD AND THE FRONT END STARTED TO WOBBLE (KNOWN ON MANY INTERNET SITES AT THE "FORD DEATH WOBBLE." THERE WAS A FORD TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT DEALS WITH THE STEERING GEARBOX NEEDING REPLACEMENT. SEEMS THAT THIS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD WITH NO RECALLS ON THIS PART MALFUNCTIONING. *JS
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AD THERE IS A LACK OF POWER AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THERE IS ALSO A COOLANT LEAK AT THE CENTER OF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAS A SURGE HESITATION FEELING AND ALACK OF POWER ON ACCELERATION. THERE IS A NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION THAT HAS AN ODD SHIFT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250 SUPRERDUTY DIESEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND THOUGHT THAT THE FAILURE INVOVLED THE STEERING BOX AND SHAFT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE TO THE DEALER, BUT THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
ON MARCH 13, 2012, I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE REGARDING A REPAIR THEY MADE TO MY TRUCK. THE CASE NUMBER IS [XXX]. I HAD TO REPLACE TWO RADIATOR HOSES COSTING ME $500. THEY WERE NOT DEFECTIVE DUE TO ABUSE OR MAINT. THEY HAD A DESIGN FLAW PER THE SERVICE TECH. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN FOR ONE OF THEM WAS LEAKING. THEY REPLACED BOTH FOR THEY SAID THAT THE OTHER ONE WAS GOING TO LEAK EVENTUALLY. THEY WERE REPLACED WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED HOSE TO PREVENT THE LEAKING. THE TECH STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MANY ON THIS MODEL AND YEAR TRUCK. I REALIZE THE TRUCK WAS PAST THE 3 YEAR/36000 MILE WARRANTY; HOWEVER IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY OR FORD SHOULD HAVE COVERED THE COST. IT WAS A MANUFACTURE DESIGN FLAW AND COULD HAVE BLOWN OUT ON THE ROAD CAUSING A BREAK DOWN AND HIGHWAY SAFETY HAZARD. ALL I'M ASKING FOR IS THAT FORD ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND A RECALL BE MANDATED FOR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY I COULD BE REIMBURSED. SHOULD YOU REQUIRE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I'M SURE OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. ALSO, I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION THE TWO DEFECTIVE AND DESIGN FLAWED RADIATOR HOSES. SLOWING DOWN TO EXIT HIGHWAY AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AS IF THE TRUCK SHUT OFF, BUT IT WAS STILL RUNNING. *JS
THIS VEHICLE SINCE THE LAST PCM UPDATE WHEN IT GOES INTO "CLEAN EXHAUST FILTER" MODE WILL SHOOT OUT HEAVY SMOKE FOR 2 MILES. THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD FOR DRIVERS BEHIND THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR MONTHS. DEALER STATES IT IS"NORMAL". *TR
ALL 4 TIRES ON MY TRUCK HAVE SUBSTANTIAL CRACKING ALL THE WAY AROUND WHERE THE TREAD IS ATTACHED TO THE TIRE CARCASS. THE TREAD HAS CRACKS IN IT AS WELL. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN IN SERVICE 30 MONTHS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250 SD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPOND WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE STEERING BOX WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT REPLACE OR REBUILD THE STEERING BOX BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,200. WE WHERE HAULING CATTLE DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND LOST POWER AT 2500 RPMS THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE ON A HIGHWAY GOING 55 MPH WITH A LOAD OF CATTLE AND WITH NO WARNING THE TRUCK LOST POWER. WE TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND ARE NOW HAVING THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL INJECTOR PUMP REPLACED. THE CAB OF THE TRUCK HAS TO BE TAKEN OFF TO WORK ON THIS PUMP IT WILL BE AT LEAST 18 HOURS OF LABOR. FORD HAS REDESIGNED THE NEWER MOTORS SO THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL INJECTOR PUMP IS NOW IN THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250 EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TR SIZE LT275/70/R18 TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TREAD WAS SEPARATING ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11T002000 (TIRES:TREAD/BELT). THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO REPLACE THE FAILED TIRE, BUT NOT THE REMAINING TIRES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,800.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR RECALIBRATION. AFTER THE RECALL SERVICE, THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50-60 MPH WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AROUND FOR A WHILE UNTIL IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,545. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,344. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN ESTIMATED SPEED OF 50-60 MPH AND ATTEMPTING A FORCED DOWN SHIFT, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO 3RD GEAR INSTEAD OF 4TH GEAR CAUSING RAPID REAR WHEEL DECELERATION AND HIGH ENGINE RPM TO OCCUR. IT OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING SERVICING OF THE PCM PER THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UP TO 500 MILES WHILE THE TRANSMISSION RE-LEARN ITS SHIFT TO POINTS. AFTER COMPLYING WITH THE DEALERS REQUEST, THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. UPDATED 12/19/12.. UPDATED 12/31/12 *BF UPDATED 1/3/2013 *JS
I AM FILING A COMPLAINT HERE AS FORD CUSTOMER CARE REFERENCED YOU IN ONE OF THEIR RESPONSES TO ME. MY PICKUP WITH 24,000 MILES ON IT BLEW OUT THE TANK ON THE RADIATOR. THIS COULD REFLECT AS A SAFETY ISSUE FROM BEING STRANDED. FROM TALKING TO THE SERVICE PEOPLE AT LEWIS AND CLARK FORD IN YANKTON SD WHERE I HAD TO BE TOWED TO IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. I ALSO HAVE DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH ON LINE AND IN A SHORT TIME FOUND APPROXIMATELY 40 CASE SO I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY MORE. ANY HELP YOU COULD GIVE ME WITH THIS ISSUE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *TR

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE BUT THE CONTACT DECLINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
AFTER A 10 MILE TRIP , GOT TO MY HOME AND REAR DRIVER BRAKE WAS SMOKING. I HAD CONTINUALLY COMPLAINED TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT EXCESSIVE HEAT I.E. YOU COULD HEAR CRACKLING AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE. I BOUGHT A CENTEC HAND LASER HEAT TEMPERATURE LCD GUN AND DEMONSTRATED TO THE FORD SERVICE MANAGER THAT ALL DISCS HAD EXCESSIVE HEAT. THEY CLAIMED THEY SERVICED THE BRAKES. CONTINUALLY BLAMED THE NEW YORK WINTER AND SALT. SINCE I GOT MY LAST SERVICE SATISFACTION SURVEY SHORTLY AFTER THIS SMOKING INCIDENT, I WROTE THAT FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE TRUCKS FOR THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE DEALERSHIPS EITHER CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM OR WAIT TILL THE WARRANTY IS UP(IS FORD ITSELF COVERING UP?) I REPLACED THE CALIPER MYSELF IN MY YARD SINCE I FELT IT WAS UNSAFE. THE PISTONS IN THESE CALIPERS FREEZE UP DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 70 MPH WHEN SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE CALIPERS WERE DEFECTIVE AND CAUSED THE BRAKE SYSTEM TO OVERHEAT. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED HE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE RECURRING PROBLEM. LEAKING RADIATOR THAT IS A $1,200 REPAIR. *KB
MY COMPLAINT REGARDS A DEFECTIVE CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC LT275/65R18 TIRE ON A 2008 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY PICK-UP. ONE OF THE ORIGINAL OEM TIRES DEVELOPED A SHIFTED BELT / SEPARATION AT 43,910 MILES W/ 9/32" OF TREAD LEFT ON THE TIRE. CONTINENTAL HAS AN ONGOING VOLUNTARY RECALL PROGRAM FOR LT275/70R18 TIRES ON 2008 TO 2009 FORD F250 AND F350 VEHICLES. THE DEFECT IN MY TIRE IS ALSO ONE OF THE DEFECTS LISTED FOR THE LT275/70R18 TIRE RECALL. I BELIEVE CONTINENTAL HAS ADDITIONAL TIRES OUTSIDE OF THE DOT DATE CODE WHICH, MAY NOT MEET CONTINENTAL'S PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS IN THE FIELD AND MAY WARRANT AN ADDITONAL REVIEW FOR SAFETY BY THE NHTSA. *TT
ONE OF 4 CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC LT 275/65 R 18 TIRES, DOT # P5B9 1VUB, HAS MULTIPLE (14+) TINY AIR LEAKS THROUGH THE TREAD OF THE TIRE. THERE IS NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO THE TIRE OR TREAD. THE TIRES HAVE JUST UNDER 30,000 MILES ON THEM. THEY ARE THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES THAT CAME WITH MY 2008 FORD F250 2WD MANUAL TRANSMISSION DIESEL CREW CAB PICK UP WHICH WAS PURCHASED NEW. *TR
I CAME HOME FROM WORK, SHUT MY VEHICLE OFF, CLIMBED OUT AND NOTICED THAT SOMETHING WAS DRIPPING FROM THE FRONT END. GOT UNDER AND FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING AND AT A PRETTY GOOD RATE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK DETAILS ABOUT IT AND AGREED TO DROP IT OFF THE NEXT DAY. I HAD TO REFERENCE THEM TO A TSB 09-23-1 CONCERNING THE RADIATOR LEAK DUE TO A HYPER EXTENDED THERMOSTAT. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER I GET A CALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THERMOSTAT "SEEMS" TO BE FINE AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BEAR THE COST OF THE RADIATOR REPLACEMENT AT $1400. FORD REPLACED THESE RADIATORS IN JOB 1 TRUCKS IF THEY WERE LEAKING AT THE TIME THE VENTURI TEE WAS BEING INSTALLED IN THE COOLING SYSTEM. I HAD THE RECALL DONE BUT IT WASN'T LEAKING AT THE TIME. I HAVE 37K MILES ON IT. I'VE NEVER OVER HEATED IT, OVER SPED IT AND I TAKE CARE OF MY VEHICLE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THAT IF THEY REPLACED THE PARTS, SENT THEM TO FORD AND FORD FOUND THEY WERE STILL GOOD, I WOULD THEN GET BILLED BACK LATER. AS OF RIGHT NOW, I HAVE NOT HAD THEM CONTINUE WITH THE WORK ON THE TRUCK. THE MAIN REASON IS BECAUSE THAT IS A COSTLY REPAIR AND I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD COVER THIS KNOWING IT'S A PROBLEM. THERE WAS A RECALL AS I STATED EARLIER, AND AT LEAST 2 TSB'S STATING THAT THEY KNOW IT'S A PROBLEM. IT'S DISAPPOINTING THAT FORD IS STICKING IT TO PEOPLE LIKE ME FOR A DEFECTIVE PART. IT'S CRACKED AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME HOW IT CRACKED. WHEN ASKED, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED, "THAT'S THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION." WHAT MAKES THIS EVEN WORSE, I'M ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY AND AM PREPARING FOR A DUTY STATION MOVE IN AUGUST. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE TO TOW MY RV AND FAMILY OF 5, NOT FOR IT TO BREAK AND NO APPARENT REASON FOR IT BESIDES THE DEFECTIVE PART THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT. *TR
WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS I HAVE HAD TREAD SEPARATION ON 2 OF MY TRUCK TIRES. I WAS ABLE TO DISCOVER THE PROBLEM BEFORE A COMPLETE FAILURE DUE TO ABNORMAL VIBRATION AND SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION. THESE WERE CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC LT275 65R18 TIRES ON MY FORD F250. DOT P5B9 1VUB WITH NO APPARENT MANUFACTURE DATE CODE. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED AT 24554 MILES AND THE SECOND AT 26000 MILES. THE TIRES WERE CAREFULLY MAINTAINED, THE VEHICLE STORED INDOORS AND NEVER OFF ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FIRST WITH A REPLACEMENT DOT A3B9 479B 4710. I WILL NOW FIGHT WITH FORD TO REPLACE THE OTHER DEFECTIVE TIRE AND THE 2 THAT HAVE NOT YET FAILED. AFTER REVIEWING THE INTERNET IT IS APPARENT THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS BRAND OF TIRE. I FELT COMPELLED TO REPORT MY EXPERIENCE BECAUSE IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE BATCH AND IF IT HAS NOT HAPPENED ALREADY, SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET KILLED OR INJURED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F250 WITH A SET OF CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TIRES, SIZE LT275/70/R18. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN ALL FOUR TIRES SPLIT ON THE SIDEWALL. THE TIRES WERE TAKEN TO A LOCAL TIRE SHOP FOR A REPLACEMENT WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A POTENTIAL RECALL ON THE TIRES UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11T002000 (TIRES:TREAD/BELT). THE CONTACT CALLED THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED THAT BASED ON THE DOT NUMBER OF THE TIRES, THAT THEY WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE TIRES SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,413.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE OR SPORADICALLY AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE EXHAUST SENSOR AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F250 SD PICKUP EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC M/S TIRES, SIZE LT 275/65R18. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 70 MPH WHEN THE TIRES STARTED BOUNCING AND SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REMOVED FROM THE ROADWAY AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE HAD A BULGE THAT CAUSED THE TREAD TO SEPARATE FROM THE TIRE. THE CONTACT EXCHANGED THE TIRES AND WAS ABLE TO DRIE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE CONTINENTAL MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THAT THE TIRES DID NOT FALL UNDER A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,055. UPDATED 05/24/11*LJ
2008 FORD F-250XL, 5.4L, AUTO. ENGINE RUNAWAY. WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN THE ENGINE INCREASED IT'S SPEED DRAMATICALLY ON IT'S OWN. EVEN WITH THE BRAKES FULLY APPLIED THE VEHICLE STILL MOVED INTO A 4 WAY INTERSECTION. I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND THE RPM'S INCREASED EVEN MORE BEFORE THE ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. 10 MINUTES LATER I STARTED THE VEHICLE AT MY BANK AND PLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN REV. THE ENGINE AGAIN RAPIDLY INCREASED THE RPM'S AND I BARELY KEPT THE VEHICLE FROM ROCKETING AWAY BACKWARDS BY HOLDING MY FOOT FULLY ON THE BRAKE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS DURING HIGH HUMID, OR RAINY DAYS, OR WHILE THE TRUCK IS OPERATING IN A STEADY STATE OF DRIVING FOR SEVERAL HOURS. IF YOU PULL OFF THE FREEWAY, AND THEN TRY TO ACCELERATE ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP THE TRUCK STUMBLES AND LOOSES ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO TRY TO FIND THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL. THERE ARE NO CODES BEING DISPLAYED IN THE COMPUTER. NOTICED A COOLANT LEAK COMING OFF THE DRIVER SIDE FRAME RAIL UNDER THE HOOD. TOOK IT IN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR. $1,400 LATER THEY SAID IF I HAD A HYPER EXTENDED THERMOSTAT IT WOULD BE FREE AS THAT IS WHAT FORD BELIEVES IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. WHEN STARTING MY 2008 FORD F-250 I BEGAN HAVING TO TRY IT MORE THAN ONCE, WHICH WAS VERY UNUSUAL FOR MY TRUCK. THEN THE NEXT DAY THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER, THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THEIR DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND INFORMED ME THAT THE ERROR CODE INDICATED THAT EITHER I OR SOMEONE ELSE HAS ATTEMPTED TO MODIFY THE PCM (PROCESSOR) UNSUCCESSFULLY AND THAT RESULTED IN THE PCM BEING RUINED. I ASSURED THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT IN NO WAY HAVE I OR ANYONE ELSE DONE THAT. HE BASICALLY CALLED ME A LIAR AND SAID IT WOULD BE AROUND $1000 TO REPAIR. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NOW FOR 5 DAYS AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THE REPAIR TECH WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY REPROGRAMMING THE NEW PCM AND HAD TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY. IN APRIL THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER THE 36,000 MI. WARRANTY. I FIRST NOTICED THE LEAK AROUND THE LAST OF NOVEMBER 2010 AND BY THEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT 46,000 MI. AND OUT OF WARRANTY. DEALER IS NOW CHARGING US $1,233.31 FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE 3RD ONE. OUR SON WHO HAS A F350 HAS HAD 3 RADIATORS REPLACED. HEAT SHIELD AROUND TURBOS ON 08 F-250 WITH THE 6.4 DIESEL IS LOSING ITS SHAPE AND BEGINNING TO HANG TOO CLOSE TO THE TURBO AND CAN CATCH FIRE. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN WITH NO CLIPS TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. *TR
THREE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE OF A 2008 F-250 FORD HEAVY DUTY TRUCK, I NOTICED THE BRAKES SQUEAKING. ON 4 OCCASIONS I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK FOR SERVICE TO CHECK FOR THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST 3 TIMES AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THE SQUEAK WAS CAUSED BY "ROAD DEBRIS", AND THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO PREVENT THIS FROM RECURRING.( THE DEALERSHIP CLEANED THE BRAKE PADS).ON THE FORTH OCCASION, THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE AND HAD 60 % CAPACITY. THIS OCCURRED ON 8/3/2010. OCTOBER 15, 2010 THE SQUEAKING WAS SO LOUD, WE TOOK IT TO A THIRD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE SEVERELY WORN AND RUSTED. IT REQUIRED A SLEDGE HAMMER TO REMOVE THEM DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF CORROSION THAT HAD BUILT UP. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE FINE. OUR CONCERN IS THAT THERE IS/WAS A DEFECT IN THE REAR BRAKES AND THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, SINCE WE PULL A HEAVY TRAILER. WE HAVE KEPT THE PARTS FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AT OUR RESIDENCE. WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH, THE TRUCK INSTANTLY "TOOK OFF", THE TACHOMETER WENT TO BETWEEN 5500 & 6000 RPM, AND SPEED INCREASED TREMENDOUSLY TO ALMOST 90MPH. I TAPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE BRAKE TO TRY TO INTERRUPT WHAT WAS OCCURRING. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, WHERE THE RPMS DROPPED TO 3000. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF IN HOPES OF RESETTING WHATEVER HAD JUST OCCURRED. WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK BACK UP, IT IMMEDIATELY BEGAN DOING WHAT IT WAS DOING BEFORE. I PLACED THE TRUCK INTO "DRIVE" AND ATTEMPTED TO GET OUT OF THE ROADWAY. AT THIS TIME, EVERYTHING RETURNED TO "NORMAL". I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (UNIVERSITY FORD, DURHAM NC). THEY DETERMINED WITHIN 40 MINUTES THAT IT WAS THE FLOOR MAT. HOWEVER, I HAVE TRIED FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR TODAY TO RECREATE A FLOOR MAT ACCELERATOR STICKING WITHOUT SUCCESS. I HAVE ALSO BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE MAXIMUM RPMS THAT I EXPERIENCED WITH MY FOOT IN A NORMAL DRIVING POSITION. THIS IS THE FIRST AND ONLY OCCURRENCE, BUT I DO NOT AGREE THAT IT WAS A FLOOR MAT PROBLEM OR THAT MY ISSUE WAS TAKEN SERIOUSLY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS YOU CAN NOT MAINTAIN LANE CONTROL AND OFTEN DRIFT INTO THE OTHER LANE OR EMERGENCY PULL OFF LANE. THE TRUCK IS COMPLETELY STOCK AND HAS THE FACTORY TIRES, RIMS EVERYTHING... I HAVE HAD ALL SERVICE DONE AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP GARAGE WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN NUMEROUS TIMES AND EACH TIME THEY ATTRIBUTED THE PROBLEM TO LOW TIRE PRESSURE, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS EXACTLY 75 PSI AS IS THE RECOMMENDATION ON THE DOOR STICKER. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED IN ONE OF THESE TRUCKS. THE DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. TO REPLICATE THE "DEATH WOBBLE", ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS DRIVE AN 08' SUPER DUTY AT 65-70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND HIT A SLIGHT BUMP OR MINOR POTHOLE, ESPECIALLY IN A SLIGHT TURN, AND YOU WILL LOSE CONTROL AND BE SHAKEN VIOLENTLY UNTIL YOU CAN BRING THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DOWN TO BELOW 40 MILES AN HOUR. I CAN REPLICATE THIS EVERYDAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY, EVERY TIME I GO OVER CERTAIN BUMPS ON THE INTERSTATE. I NOW HAVE TO SLOW TO BELOW 45 MILES AN HOUR BEFORE I HIT THE BUMPS TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. GOING THIS SLOW COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 70. THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF. I SPENT ALOT OF HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS TRUCK TO BE TOLD IT IS A TIRE INFLATION ISSUE WHEN IT IS DEFINITELY MUCH MORE SEVERE. I RELIGIOUSLY CHECK MY AIR PRESSURE.
