TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250 SD EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TIRES, SIZE: LT275/65R18. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT FELT THE TREAD HITTING THE VEHICLE. UPON PULLING THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TREAD HAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE HAD A SPARE TIRE INSTALLED BY THE TOW COMPANY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250 SD. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOBBLED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO ALMOST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO KEEP IT FROM WOBBLING. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A WOBBLE IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT A WOBBLE BAR WOULD NEED TO BE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE FAILURE WOULD NOT RECUR. The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving over a bump at a high rate of speed, the contact experienced the death wobble and the contact temporarily lost control of the vehicle. The contact slowed down and the violent shaking ceased. The contact stated that the tie rods, ball joints, and other front-end parts were replaced to reduce the risk of the failure recurring. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH and towing a trailer, the contact experienced the death wobble. The vehicle drifted from the far-left lane over to the far-right lane and the contact lost control of the vehicle. The contact called a local dealer and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer and was provided a case number. The manufacturer advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 263,000.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 65 MPH MOTOR SHUT DOWN. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE SHOP I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE WRITHER THAT A NUMBER OF THE FUEL PUMPS HAS FAILED ON TRUCKS LIKE MINE. COST TO FIX $8,400.00!!!
THE TRUCK WENT TO LIMP MODE FOR 3 SEC THEN SHUT OFF. MY SON WAS DRIVING AND IT SHUT OF ON A BUSY 4 LANE ROAD WITH NOWHERE TO GO ,NO POWER STEERING ,BRAKES ,NO MOTOR NOTHING. LET IT BE KNOWN AND I AM COPING THIS LETTER. THIS COULD BE VERY HAZARDOUS EVEN DEADLY. I HOPE SOMETHING IS DONE BEFORE IT KILLS SOMEONE OR MULTIPLE PEOPLE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT HAPPEND.
OUR 2011 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY (DIESEL) HAS ISSUES WITH THE EGT SENSORS. THIS IS THE 4TH ONE TO GO BAD. WE HAVE HAD OTHERS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT FORD HAS AN ISSUE WITH THESE SENSORS AND NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT RECTIFYING THIS. THIS TIME WE WERE IN LEXINGTON, KY (OVER 2 HOURS FROM HOME). THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME PREVIOUSLY WE COULD COULD SAFELY DRIVE THE TRUCK, SO WE CAME HOME. THERE IS CERTAINLY A PROBLEM WITH THESE EGT SENSORS THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.
WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED IT PROCEEDS TO SHAKE SO VIOLENTLY THAT YOU ALMOST LOSE CONTROL. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT AN ANTI-WOBBLE TRACK BAR WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. IF THAT IS THE CASE, FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING IT. IT IS DANGEROUS AND A TICKING TIME BOMB. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TIRE PRESSURE. IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. A PERSON SHOULD NOT SPEND $60,000 ON A VEHICLE ONLY TO HAVE TO TURN AROUND AND SINK THOUSANDS MORE JUST TO HAVE A SAFE VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND CORRECTED BY FORD. HOW MANY CRASHES/DEATHS HAVE HAPPENED BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO THIS AS IT HAS NOT OFFICIALLY BEEN A RECALL ISSUE??

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BALL JOINTS, SHOCK ABSORBERS, AND OTHER UNKNOWN COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
ENGINE - WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, WENT TO PASS A CAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE MESSAGE WAS THE ENGINE WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE TRUCK TURNED ITSELF OFF. WHAT THE FORD MECHANIC SAID THE #4 FUEL INJECTOR STAYED WIDE OPEN, THEREFOR BURNING UP THE PISTON. THE TRUCK HAD 128,000. MILES. IT IS SAD THAT A SMALL PART LIKE THAT CAN CAUSE AN ENGINE FAILURE. HAD TO BUY A NEW MOTOR ($15,000. AND THEY WOULD ONLY WARRANTY IT FOR 2 YEARS.) WAS TOLD I COULD HAVE MY TRUCK BACK IN 5 DAYS. IT TOOK 5 WKS TO GET MY TRUCK BACK WITH THE NEW ENGINE. PICKED IT UP AT 4PM ON WEDNESDAY. THURSDAY AT 9:30AM CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON THREE MORE TIMES.
PULLING MY FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER UP A HILL AT 50MPH THE ENGINE JUST SHUT DOWN VERY ABRUPTLY. NO ALARMS OR LIGHTS THAT I SAW. AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR A MINUTE OR SO, PUT IT IN PARK AND IT RESTARTED, OIL TEMP AT 240, TRANS: TEMP AT 201. FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. A LITTLE OVER 50,000 MILES.
MY VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED NO POWER WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO A STATE HIGHWAY. ACCELERATION WAS EXTREMELY SLOW AND CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER IMMEDIATELY TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC, WHICH WAS VERY FAR AWAY WHEN I INITIAL PULLED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND AT RANDOM. THE VEHICLE COULD ONLY REACH 40 MPH ON FLAT HIGHWAY AND WHILE DRIVING ON MOUNTAIN ROADS, THIS WOULD DECREASE TO A MAXIMUM SPEED OF 20 MPH. THIS WOULD CREATE A SIGNIFICANTLY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF ON WAS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AND
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50-65 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK SEVERELY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINTS WERE DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
THE TRUCK THAT I OWN HAS NO ACCIDENTS, NO DAMAGES, 75K MILES ON IT AND THE RADIATOR IS PREMATURELY FAILING. THIS COOLANT LEAK ON THE LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS REFUSED TO RECALL THE PART.
WHILE TOWING A TRAVEL TRAILER AT 55 MPH WITH 2011 F250, EXPERIENCED SUDDEN TIRE ROUGHNESS/BOUNCING. TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WITH APPROX. 10,000 MI. DEALER FOUND BELT SEPARATION IN RIGHT-REAR TIRE. THEN A MONTH LATER, WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH WITH NO LOAD, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT APPROX. 12,000 MI. DEALER FOUND BELT SEPARATION IN RIGHT-FRONT TIRE. ALL 4 ORIGINAL TIRES AND SPARE WERE FROM SAME LOT. CANNOT TRUST THESE CONTINENTAL TIRES, SO HAVE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER BRAND.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE IGNITION KEY WAS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULE WIRE HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
"STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE" SCCM (FORD P/N 3F944) PLASTIC BODY BROKE, ALLOWING THE "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH" (FORD P/N 13K359) TO SEPARATE FROM ITS ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND BECOME INOPERABLE. THE SCCM PLASTIC BODY IS QUITE FLIMSY AND THE PLASTIC IS BRITTLE - INSTEAD OF JUST BREAKING, IT SHATTERED LIKE GLASS. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED AT NIGHT DURING A RAINSTORM 3-4-16. HAD JUST EXITED ONTO AN URBAN ARTERIAL FROM A FREEWAY. INSTANTLY THE WIPERS, TURN SIGNALS, AND HIGH BEAM BECAME INOPERABLE. VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING HOME (1 MILE FROM THE EVENT). NEXT DAY I WAS AMAZED AT HOW EXTENSIVELY THE PLASTIC SHATTERED, HAVING NO RECALL OF TREATING IT HARSHLY - JUST USING THE DEVICE IN THE NORMAL FASHION.
TREAD SEPARATION CONTINENTAL TIRES IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS. 2011 FORD F 250 25,800 FIRST TIME, 33500 2ND TIME . FORD DEALER NOR CONTINENTAL WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. THESE TIRES ARE GOING TO KILL SOMEONE IF SOMETHING ISN'T DONE
THIS ISSUE IS AROUND THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID SYSTEM - SPECIFICALLY THE REDUCTANT HEATER ASSEMBLY BUT HAS ALSO NOW AFFECTED THE FUEL PUMP AND ASSOCIATED EMISSIONS. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BUT OCCURS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FALLS BELOW 30 DEGREES. THIS CARE HAS BEEN IN DEALERSHIP REPEATEDLY OVER THE PAST 14 MONTHS FOR THIS ISSUE. PART OF THE DESIGN OF THIS SYSTEM FAILURE IS TO DEPOWER THE ENGINE WHICH NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAVE EXHAUSTED MY ABILITIES AND PATIENCE WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND NOW SUBMIT IT TO YOU FOR REDRESS. SEE ATTACHED PDF DOCUMENT FOR FULL DETAILS..
THE TRUCK WILL EXPERIENCE REALLY BAD WOBBLE/BOUNCE AT 35-55MPH SPEEDS. I INSTALLED A DUAL STEERING STABILIZER THINKING MAYBE IT JUST NEEDS AN UPGRADE. THE REAR END SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM. EVERY BUMP IS FELT. THE CAB MOVES AND ROTATES BACK AND FORTH AS IF SOMEONE IS SHAKING THE SEAT. THE TAIL BED IS VISIBLY BOUNCING UP AND DOWN THE INTERSTATE OR ANY SPEEDS OVER 40MPH. THE REAR END HAS TOO MUCH PLAY IN IT!!I BELIEVE THAT IT IS CAUSING THE FRAME TO BEND AND SUSPENSION PARTS TO GO BAD OVER TIME.
MY 2011 F-250 DIESEL WOULDN'T START 2 WEEKS AGO AND AFTER HAVING IT TOWED FOUND IT TO BE THE H.P.F.P HAD TORN ITSELF APART AND PUT METAL SHAVINGS IN THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. IT WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME BUT I BELIEVE IT WAS OUT OF SHEER LUCK THAT I WASN'T ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT THIS YEAR AND MODEL HAVE, BUT FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT AS A PROBLEM OTHER THAN TO PUT A KIT TOGETHER FOR THE CONSUMER WHEN THIS HAPPENS TO SIMPLIFY THE ORDERING PROCESS. THIS IS A DANGER TO MY FAMILY AND ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD IF MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLS AND LOSES ALL POWER. THIS IS A FREQUENT ENOUGH OCCURRENCE TO WARRANT AN INVESTIGATION IN MY OPINION FOR THE THOUSANDS OF AFFECTED FORD DIESEL OWNERS.
FORD DEATH WOBBLE WHEN THE TRUCK HITS A ROUGH SPOT IN THE ROAD, UNCONTROLLABLE WOBBLE THAT REQUIRES A FULL STOP.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE PARKED AND ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL POPPING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY INTO A FROZEN LAKE. THE VEHICLE WENT THROUGH THE ICE AND BEGAN SINKING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING INSPECTION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
I HAD A FUEL PUMP TO MALFUNCTION CAUSING THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM TO BE REPLACE ON MY 2011 FORD F 250 AT A COST OF ALMOST $8000. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE I CONTACT MY INSURANCE PROVIDER AND THE ADJUSTER SAID THIS IF A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG FOR TYPE OF REPAIR TO BE A COMMON THING. DEATH WOBBLE. SEVERE STEERING WHEEL AND TIRES SHAKING ON THE FRONT.
TURNED ONTO BUSY HIGHWAY, VEHICLE WARNING CHIMED A FEW TIMES AND MESSAGE CENTER SAID 'STOP SAFELY NOW" VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN AND THEN SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE IF AN INTERSECTION WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. I HAD TO HAVE MY WIFE EXIT THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE LOCATION AND THEN HAVE THE VEHICLE PUSHED OUT OF THE INTERSECTION. I CONTACTED A TOWING COMPANY TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD SHOP. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAILED NUMBER 4 EGT SENSOR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM.

WHEN DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT 65 MPH, THE TRUCK ENCOUNTERED A SLIGHT BUMP AND THE FRONT END STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY, INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY. THE TRUCK WANDERED OUT OF THE LANE DUE TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE STEERING. THE SHAKING ONLY STOPPED AFTER SLOWING TO ABOUT 35 MPH. THE FAILURE REPEATED ITSELF A FEW MINUTES LATER BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. THIS OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY (6 MONTHS / 3000 MILES AGO). THE FORD DEALER SUGGESTED I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION MECHANIC. HE INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND SAID ALL THE FRONT END COMPONENTS WERE FINE BUT HE NOTED THAT THE STEERING DAMPER HAD ABOUT A 1" DEAD ZONE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL VAPOR CANISTER AND AIR FILTER FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
PURCHASED 2011 F-250 86000 MILES ON IT. GOING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK WE WENT OVER A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD AND THE TRUCK VIBRATED AND SHOOK SO BAD WE NEARLY LOST CONTROL. HAD TO STOP ON A BUSY HIGHWAY SHOULDER AND LOOK TO SEE IF WE HAD A FLAT TIRE. NOTHING OBVIOUS BUT BROUGHT IT TO OUR MECHANIC ANYWAYS A COUPLE DAYS LATER. EVERY BUMP ON THE ROAD WILL NOW CAUSE THIS REACTION AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS COULD BE DEVASTATING. OUR MECHANIC IS GOING TO TRY A NEW STEERING STABILIZER AND FRONT AXLE JOINTS BUT I FEAR THIS TRUCK HAS THE DREADED "DEATH WOBBLE". VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT FORD WILL NOT ADDRESS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORMULA FORD LINCOLN (4318 MIDDLE RD, RUTLAND, VT 05701) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TUBE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH ON CITY STREET "STOP SAFELY NOW" APPEARED ON THE DASH SCREEN. WITHIN A FEW SECOND THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN, WHICH ELIMINATED THE POWER BRAKES AND STEERING, WHILE STILL AT 35 MPH. WAS GETTING ON THE INTERSTATE AND WENT OVER A SEPARATION CRACK AT ABOUT 55 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK FRONT AXLE / SUSPENSION STARTED TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY / SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY. I STARTED TO PUT A SECURE HOLD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND AT THE SAME TIME APPLYING THE BRAKES. AFTER SLOWING DOWN TO ABOUT 35 MPH THE TRUCK STARTED TO SMOOTH OUT, PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE EXPRESSWAY, CHECKED THE TRUCK OUT, DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. I CONTINUED AT REDUCED SPEED TO HOME AND CHECKED IT OUT AGAIN, BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING. PRIOR TO THAT INCIDENT, I HAD COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER ABOUT WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A ROUGH RIDE, WENT WITH A MECHANIC FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR A RIDE, AND HE SAID IT RIDES LIKE THE OTHER F250'S. AFTER THE VIBRATION INCIDENT, I DECIDED TO CHECK THE LEFT FRONT SHOCK, REMOVED IT AND THOUGHT THAT IT WAS NOT WORKING TO WELL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A LITTLE BAD, AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT, I THEN ASK THEM ABOUT THE RIGHT SHOCK, AND THEY DID NOT THINK THAT THE RIGHT SIDE WAS BAD, I THEN STATED THAT I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE REPLACED IN PAIRS, AND THAT THE REARS SHOULD ALSO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID NO, BUT AFTER MORE DISCUSSION, THEY DID AGREE TO REPLACE THE RIGHT SHOCK {CUSTOMER SATISFACTION}.IT DID SEEM TO RIDE BETTER. HOW EVER ON THE EVENING OF FRIDAY 7 AUGUST, THE TRUCK HAD ANOTHER EPISODE ON A DIFFERENT ROAD, LIKE IT HAD OVER A MONTH AGO. SO I DON'T THINK THAT SHOCKS ARE THE TOTAL PROBLEM.. Death Wabble. Truck uncontrollably shakes in the front end while driving on the highway over 50mph. Extremely scary. It seems like the truck may flip over. Reducing speed below 25mph is the only way to stop it from shaking. Cannot apply brakes while shaking because the truck shakes even more. Allowing the truck to reduce speed on its own is the only safe option.

I WENT TO THE MOTEL WHERE MY WIFE AND I HAD TO SPEND THE NIGHT TO PICK HER UP, A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 1-2 MILES.
