The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the DEF heater to be replaced for the second time. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure for a third time. The contact took the vehicle back to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the DEF heater to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure for a fourth time. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the DEF heater, the DEF pump, and the sending unit to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure for a fifth time. The contact stated while towing a trainer, the vehicle lost acceleration and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the back local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the DEF heater, the DEF pump, the injector, and the sending unit to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
OUR 2011 FORD F250 TRUCK IS DOWN SHIFTING EXTREMELY HARD FROM 3RD GEAR TO 1ST GEAR (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) WHEN BRAKING. IT SHIFTS SO HARD THAT THE SEAT BELTS WILL LOCK UP AND IT WILL BARK THE TIRES ALMOST AS IF YOU HAD SLAMMED ON BRAKES. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL TIMES THAT WE HAVE BEEN ALMOST REAR ENDED BY CARS BEHIND US WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND THE SUDDEN SHIFT OCCURS. WE HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL MECHANICS WHO HAVE TOLD US THEY HAVE HEARD THIS SAME ISSUE FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH F250 TRUCKS.

THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE OVER 35 MPH DUE TO THE VIOLENT SHAKING AND VIBRATION. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' AND REPLACED THE TRACT BAR, BALL JOINTS, STEERING STABILIZER, STEERING DAMPER, AND PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,423.
FOR THE SECOND TIME FIRST AT 42,000 NOW AT 82 000 AT HIWAY SPEED OF 66 MPH THE VIOLENT STEERING DEATH WOBBLE HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. THE ONLY WAY IS TO HOLD ON SO TIGHT AND SLOW TRYING TO GET OFF THE TRAVEL LANES ..THIS SO DANGEROUS AND UNFORESEEN. INSPECTED FRONT STEERING AND SUSPENSION ,ALL IN TOLERANCE. FIRST TIME I USED MY ESP WARRANT PAYING THE DEDUCTIBE.

ALSO, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AND THERE WAS A STRONG VIBRATION FELT IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. GERMAIN FORD OF BEAVERCREEK (2356 HELLER DR, DAYTON, OH 45434, 1-(937) 429-1300) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WITHOUT GUIDELINES FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
MICHELIN LTX MS/S2 275/70 R18 TIRE WITH LESS THAN 25K HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF TREAD SEPARATION. WHILE AT DISCOUNT TIRE, SPOKE WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER WITH SAME VEHICLE - 2012 INSTEAD OF 2011 F-250 WHO HAD 3 TIRES WITH TREAD SEPARATION ISSUES.
TRUCK HAS EXCESSIVE WOBBLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL. DEATH WOBBLE. NEW TIRES, TRACK BAR, TIE ROD ENDS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AND FRONT END ADJUSTED TO FORD BULLETIN WITH NO SOLUTION OF CORRECTING THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE STARTED IN AUGUST 2018 AND HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR CORRECTIONS. THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP AGAIN LAST WEEK WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
LET ME START BY SAYING THAT MY TRUCK DOES NOT HAVE ANY AFTERMARKET CHANGES - IT IS COMPLETELY STOCK/OEM. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60MPH+), THE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK SOMETIMES SHUDDERS SEVERELY AFTER GOING OVER SMALL ROAD SURFACE CHANGES SUCH AS JOINTS/SEAMS IN THE HIGHWAY. AT FIRST IT ONLY OCCURRED DURING SWEEPING HIGHWAY TURNS, BUT IT HAS PROGRESSED TO HAPPENING ON STRAIGHTS AS WELL. THE SHUDDER IS SO SEVERE THAT THE STEERING WHEEL NEARLY SHAKES OUT OF MY HANDS AND THINGS IN THE STOWAGE SPOTS ON THE DOORS ARE SHAKEN OUT. I NOW HAVE TO SLOW TO <30MPH IN ORDER TO SETTLE THE FRONT END WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO HAVE TO SUDDENLY DO ON A HIGHWAY. THE INITIAL EVENT OCCURRED AT ROUGHLY 80K MILES AND ONLY HAPPENED A FEW TIMES A YEAR. I NOW HAVE 130K MILES AND THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. I'VE RECENTLY REPLACED ALL SHOCK ABSORBERS AND THE STEERING DAMPENER, HAD AN ALIGNMENT AND THE TIRES BALANCED AND ROTATED - TO NO AVAIL. THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP WHERE THEY ARE TRYING TO IDENTIFY THE SPECIFIC PROBLEM BUT HAVE TOLD ME THIS IS RELATIVELY COMMON AMONG FORD SUPER DUTY TRUCKS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS ONLINE COMMUNITIES DISCUSSING THIS PROBLEM THAT HAS APPARENTLY BEEN OCCURRING WITH FORD SUPER DUTY TRUCKS FOR OVER A DECADE AND IS STILL OCCURRING ON NEW UNITS WITH AS FEW AS 15K MILES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WILLOWBROOK FORD (7301 KINGERY HWY, WILLOWBROOK, IL 60527) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTION HOLD DOWN BRACKET FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RUBBER BUSHINGS IN THE CAB MOUNT WERE CORRODED AND DETERIORATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE CAB MOUNTS WERE FAILING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,384.
"DEATH WOBBLY" THE 1ST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING 70MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING. I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE THINKING MY TIRES HAD BLOWN OUT. I WALKED AROUND MY TRUCK EVERYTHING LOOKS FINE SO I'M ON MY WAY. IT DOES IT AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 30MPH ON THE INTERSTATE BEFORE IT WOULD STOP AT THIS TIME I HAVE TALK AROUND AND NEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THE SERVICE GUY AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO PUT NEW TIRES ON THE TRUCK THAT SHOULD FIX IT. MY TIRES WERE PRACTICALLY NEW SO I WASN'T REPLACING THEM SO HE SUGGESTED ROAD FORCE BALANCE. AFTER DOING MORE RESEARCH LOOKS LIKE THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME. I REALLY HOPE THERE IS A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK USED WITH 59000 MILES ON IT AT THE PRICE OF 40K. I WOULD PROBABLY WENT WITH A DIFFERENT TRUCK HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THESE ISSUES.
WHEN DRIVING ABOUT 60 MILES PER HIT BUMP IN ROAD VEHICLE WENT INTO A VIOLENT SHAKING DID NOT STOP UNTIL I ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP . I NOTICED THAT AS A RESULT THE FRONT TIRES WERE SCUFFED. THESE TIRES HAVE LESS THAN 6000 MILES ON THEM.
TAKATA RECALL. TRUCK JUST SHUT DOWN AND DIED WHILE DRIVING. WE TRIED TO RESTART TO MOVE BETTER LOCATION AND ONLY WORKED FOR FEW MORE FEET.NO WARNINGS AND WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM HAS METAL SHAVINGS IN IT AND COSTING 11,000 TO REPAIR AND FORD NOT RECALLING OR COVERING ANY OF THE REPAIR WHEN THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE CAUSING WRECKS AND EVEN A DISTASTER KIT ONLINE FOR THE PROBLEM WITH FORD TRUCKS FROM 2011-2015. WE HAVE SPOKE WITH MUTLIPLE REPAIR SHOPS AND OUR INSURANCE AND IT IS MECHANICAL FAILURE AND HAPPENS ALOT WITH FORD AND NOT A RECALL NOR IS FORD HELPING OUT CUSTOMERS THAT THE MECHANICAL FAILURE IS HAPPENING TOO. WE ONLY HAVE 100,000 MILES DISEAL TRUCK AND DO ALL OUR MAINTENCE NEEDED AND FORD DEALERSHIP STATED AS MECHANICAL FAILURE.
DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED MY 2011 F250 RUNS OVER A POT HOLE, BEGINS VIOLENTLY SHAKING HAD TO SLOW DOWN IN ORDER TO CONTROL STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE IN PAST YR. REPAIRED REPLACED A PART, HAD ALIGNMENT DOWN. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED. THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I FEEL THIS IS A MANUFACTURED PROBLEM AND NTSA SHOULD ORDER A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, YESTERDAY 5/20/2011.
MY FORD WAS PURCHASED AS A ONE OWNER TRUCK WITH 44,000 MILES FROM A DEALERSHIP IN FLORIDA. OWNED BY A PERSON BRAND NEW ALSO IN FLORIDA. I LIVE IN SOUTH WESTERN VA PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY BRAKE CALIPERS. I NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. HUGE DANGER ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS TRUCK IS MADE TO PULL HEAVY WEIGHT THAT NEEDS GOOD BRAKES. MY TRUCK HAS 107,000 MILES FOUND OUT BY REPLACING BRAKE PADS FOR SECOND TIME
"TAKATA RECALL" WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD, VEHICLE WENT INTO REDUCE SPEED MODE. WHEN SLOWED DOWN, ENGINE SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START.
WHILE GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE WHOLE TRUCK WILL START TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP OR ROUGH SPOT IN THE ROAD MAKING THE STEERING WHEEL DIFFICULT TO HOLD AND THE TRUCK EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL. SLOWING DOWN TO 30 MILES AN HR WILL STOP THE SHAKING. THIS PROBLEM JUST STARTED AT 105K MILES. IT HAPPENS QUITE FREQUENTLY AND MAKES THE TRUCK ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO USE. LOCAL MECHANIC CAN NOT FIND ANY ISSUE WITH SUSPENSION OR STEERING. AFTER LOOKING AT THE INTERNET THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE RAMPANT WITH FORD OFFERING NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM.

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 50MPH AND HITTING MINOR TRANSITIONS, HOLES, IMPERFECTIONS IN THE ROADWAY THE FRONT GOES INTO A SEVER VIBRATION CAUSING A OUT OF CONTROL EXPERIENCE. MUST SLOW DOWN BELOW 40 MPH TO GET UNDER CONTROL. I THINK THIS IS REFERRED TO THE "DEATH WOBBLE" CONTINUE TO REPLACE PARTS TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION
2011 F250 6.2L ENGINE. TRUCK DIES RANDOMLY AND WILL NOT RESTART FOR SOMETIMES DAYS. SOMETIMES IT STARTS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. WEATHER IS NOT A FACTOR, SOMETIMES ITS WARM SOMETIMES ITS COLD. VERY RANDOM START AND NO START ISSUE.
STARTED MY F1 50 WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE THE BACK GLASS SHATTERED THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS IS HAPPENED THAT IT COST ME $500 DEDUCTIBLE EACH TIME
STEERING BECOMES TIGHT THEN WANDERS WITH NOT ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF STEERING UNTIL VEHICLE IS PARKED FOR SOMETIME. MECHANIC SAID ALL PARTS ARE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. HAPPENS AFTER A TURN BUT IF YOU STOP AND TURN OFF TRUCK FOR SEVERAL MINUTES IT SEEMS FINE FOR AWHILE. THIS MOSTLY IN TOWN SLOW TO MEDIUM SPEED 15-45 MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS NOW. 3-29-2018 AND @40-50 DEGREES OUTSIDE.
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THE PLASTIC OIL PAN DUE TO SEAL FAILURE AND RETURNING BACK TO STEEL PAN ON NEWER MODELS. THIS A CONTINUING PROBLEM NOTED ON NUMEROUS INTERNET POSTS. MY 2011 FORD F-250 LARIAT 4X4 IS LEAKING OIL AND NOW HAS TO BE REPLACED, COSTING A LOT OF MONEY FOR LABOR AND OIL REPLACEMENT WHICH SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 135,000 MILES DRIVE TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 220,000. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK CERTIFIED USED IN 2011 WITH APPROXIMATELY 9000 MILE ON IT. MY PROBLEM STARTED WHEN THE TRUCK HAD ABOUT 20000 MILES, MORE OR LESS. IT EXPERIENCES THE FAMOUS FORD DEATH WOBBLE REPEATEDLY WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND ENCOUNTERING A SMALL BUMP OR HOLE IN A ROAD. IT IS PARTICULARLY BAD WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 50 AND 65 MPH AND MAKING SLIGHT LEFT TURN AS MAY BE ENCOUNTERED ON A FREEWAY ENTRANCE OR EXIT. THE SHAKING IS SO BAD THAT STEERING CONTROL CAN BE TOTALLY LOST. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE SHAKING IS TO COME TO NEARLY A FULL STOP WHICH CAN BE EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS ON HIGH SPEED FREEWAYS AND HIGHWAYS. I HAVE READ AND HEARD OF MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE INVOLVING FORD PICKUPS FOR 2011 AND OTHER YEARS. EACH TIME THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE BEING IGNORED BY FORD AS "NORMAL" OR BY THE NHTSA DUE TO THE LACK OR A RECALL OR SUGGESTED FIX.
DEATH WOBBLE, WE ALMOST DIED ON 395, HAD TO STOP FAST AND IT HAPPED TWICE. WITH IN 10 MIN OF EACH OTHER, HE GOT NEW TIRES, AND ALIGNMENT A MONTH AGO. TOWING HORSE TRAILER. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS IS OUR SECOND FORD TRUCK, WE HAVE A154,000. MILES. WE ARE NOT GOING TO BUY ANOTHER FORD IF YOU DO NOT HAVE REMEDY TO FIX THIS ISSUE
FROM DAY 1 I HAVE HAD ISSUES WHERE THE FRONT END WOULD BOUNCE UNCONTROLLABLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AFTER HITTING A POTHOLE OR BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT. IT'S GETTING WORSE. THE DEALERSHIP CANNNOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. THEY TOLD ME AT ONE TIME TO REPLACE MY TIRES BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD 4 TIMES IN ONE TRIP BECAUSE OF THIS AS I COULD NOT MAINTAIN CONTROL. THIS WILL KILL SOMEONE IF NOT RESEARCHED AND CORRECTED BY FORD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LONE STAR FORD (8477 NORTH FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77037) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HIGH INJECTION FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CASE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,615. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 50 MILES PER HOUR THE TRUCK STARTED LOSING POWER, WAS ABLE TO GET TO SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AS IT LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT DOWN WAS UNABLE TO RESTART TRUCK. GOT TRUCK TOWED HOME AND WENT CHECKING THE MOTOR AND THE ANTIFREEZE WAS COMPLETELY DRY BUT NO LEAKING UNDER MOTOR AND NO WARNINGS OF LIGHTS FLASHED WHEN TRUCK SHUT DOWN.. TRUCK IS SERVICED EVERY 3 MONTHS AND CHECKED AT HOME REGULARLY. TRUCK WAS LOOKED AT BY A ASE MECHANIC AND THE MOTOR SEIZED
WENT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, UPON DOING A WALK AROUND I CHECKED THE TIRES AND NOTICED THAT ALL FOR TIRES ON THE VEHICLE HAD SPLITS IN THE SIDEWALLS. THE SPLITS ARE ABOUT A 1/4 TO 1/2" FROM THE EDGE OF THE WHEEL NEAR THE BEAD OF THE TIRE. THE SPLITS ARE NOT CONTINUOUS BUT REACH NEARLY ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TIRE FOLLOWING THE LINE OF THE WHEEL/TIRE BEAD. AT INITIAL INSPECTION IT LOOKED AS IF THE TIRES HAD BEEN CUT, AFTER LOOKING AT ALL FOR TIRES AND ALL OF THEM HAVING THE SAME CRACKS/SPLITS YOU COULD TELL THAT IT WAS NOT CUT AND RATHER THE RUBBER SPLITTING. THE TIRES HAVE NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE TREAD OR SIDEWALL FROM CURBS AND OR ROCKS/ROUGH ROADS. THE TIRES WERE INSTALLED AND USED FOR APPROX. 4 MONTHS WITH 3,363 MILES PUT ON THEM SINCE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (BOGGUS FORD MCALLEN, 1400 E EXPY 83, MCALLEN, TX) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE RUBBER MOUNTS FAILED AND/OR WERE MISSING, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AT THE TIME AND NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. DESTROYED FRONT ROTORS, BRAKE SHOES, AND MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AS PER PEP BOYS REPAIR RECEIPT. REPEATED AFTER REPAIR AT SAME SPEED. TRUCK HAS 50,000 MILES, VERY LITTLE OFF ROAD MILEAGE. INTERNET RESEARCH INDICATES OTHER DRIVERS' INSTANCES WITH THIS MODEL TRUCK AS "DEATH WOBBLE".
7/7/17 - 2011 FORD F250, 6.7L DIESEL ENGINE, MILEAGE 79530. (PURCHASED DECEMBER 2010). I WAS PULLING A SMALL TRAILER UP AN INCLINE (8%) ON I-64 IN WV. ON THIS PORTION OF THE INTERSTATE THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY PULL OFF SHOULDER. THE TRUCK OPERATED NORMALLY FOR THE FIRST 3 MILES ASCENDING THE HILL. DURING THE 4TH MILE, THE TRUCK BEGAN TO GRADUALLY, BUT PROGRESSIVELY LOSE POWER, GOING FROM 70 MPH DOWN TO 0. AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUTTER SLIGHTLY, AND CONTINUED TO DO SO UNTIL IT STOPPED IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC AND STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LAMPS OR CHIMES THAT WENT OFF BEFORE THE ENGINE STALLED. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A 'STOP SAFELY NOW' WARNING, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER WARNING INDICATORS ' BUT IT DIDN'T ILLUMINATE. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART. I IMMEDIATELY CALL 911 TO REPORT THAT MY VEHICLE WAS DISABLED IN THE ROADWAY. AFTER BEING STUCK IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT THE TRUCK AND THE TRAILER BACKWARDS SAFELY, OFF OF THE ROADWAY, INTO THE DRAINAGE DITCH, AFTER A BREAK IN TRAFFIC. UPON HAVING IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS GOING TO NEED A MOTOR, AND IT SOUNDED LIKE IT HAD SPUN THE BEARINGS ON ONE OF THE ENGINE RODS. THE ENGINE WOULD RESTART AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP, BUT IDLED VERY ROUGH. I CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE IN FACT METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. THE FUEL WAS NOT CHECKED FOR CONTAMINATION. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO FORD'S RECOMMENDED SERVICE GUIDELINES. BECAUSE OF THE COST TO ME TO REPAIR ($16,000 OR MORE), I'VE ELECTED NOT TO CONTINUE WITH DIAGNOSIS (AT $120 PER HOUR) TO DETERMINE REASON FOR FAILURE. AGAIN, THERE WAS NO WARNING SYSTEMS ACTIVE AT THE TIME THE ENGINE STALLED. THIS WAS AN ORIGINAL OWNER, PERSONAL VEHICLE, AND ONLY TOWED A TRAILER ON OCCASION. WHEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK, IF YOU HIT A POTHOLE OR ANY UNEVEN SURFACE, THE TRUCK WILL SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND IT'S ALL OVER THE ROAD. IT TAKES ALL THE STRENGTH IN MY BODY JUST TO HOLD ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL, AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS COME ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP. SOMEONE'S GOING TO GET KILLED, BECAUSE WHEN IT START TO SHAKE, YOU HAVE KNOW CONTROL OVER THE DIRECTION IT'S GOING TO GO. FROM WHAT I'VE READ ON THE NET, THIS SHAKE IS CALLED THE DEATH WOBBLE AND FOR GOOD REASONS. I ALSO HEARD THAT FORD HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS DEFECT FOR YEARS, BUT WANT DO ANYTHING EXCEPT GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND.
DRIVING 60 - 65MPH,WHEN I RAN OVER DIPS OR BUMPS IN THE HWY MY STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END STARTED SHAKING AND SHIMMING VIOLENTLY AND IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I DID NOT APPLY BRAKES BUT DID TAKE FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL AND WHEN TRUCK SPEED REACHED 40MPH VIOLENT SHAKES STOPPED. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT HOWEVER IT DOES NOT ALWAYS HAPPEN OVER ALL BUMPS OR DIPS. IT JUST HAPPENED TODAY FEB-19 2017 WHEN WE WERE PULLING OUR HORSE TRAILER AT A SPEED OF 62MPH. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 50,200 MILES SO IT SHOULD NOT BE WORN OUT. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THE FORD ENGINEERS DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS SO DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO LOOSE CONTROL WHICH WOULD BE DISASTROUS WHEN PULLING A HORSE TRAILER LIKE WE DO. I WILL TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALER HOWEVER I BET THEY WILL CHARGE ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO TRY TO FIX WHATEVER AILS THIS TRUCK WHICH I BELIEVE IS UNFAIR SINCE FORD HIRES TOP ENGINEERS TO BUILD SAFE TRUCKS.
DUE TO FAULTY/SNAPPED INJECTOR CLAMP, FORD TSB 14-0233, A FUEL INJECTOR WAS BLOWN OUT OF MY ENGINE AN SPRAYED FUEL ALL OVER THE ENGINE BAY. FORTUNATELY FOR ME I HAD JUST STARTED THE TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY SO IT WAS STATIONARY AND NOT HOT.
FOR THE PAST 3-4 YEARS MY TRUCK HAS EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE." WHEN DRIVING (STRAIGHT OR IN SLIGHT TURN) APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH OR HIGHER AND HITTING A TYPICAL BUMP IN THE ROAD, MY TRUCK BEGINS A VIOLENT SHAKING THAT STOPS WHEN I REDUCE THE SPEED ENOUGH TO REGAIN CONTROL. I HAVE ATTEMPTED REPAIRS AT TWO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS AS WELL AS A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, BUT NOTHING DONE HAS CORRECTED THE ISSUE. *TR
FORD F250 4X4 HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT SUSPENSION DESIGN. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND YOU HIT A POTHOLE OF ONE OF THE WHEEL IS JARRED THE VEHICLE WILL SHAKE, THIS CAN BE VERY VIOLENT DEPENDING ON SPEED. THE VEHICLE WITH THIS REPORT HAS HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES IN VARIOUS DEGREES. WE HAVE ALSO TRIED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE INSTANCES HAVE ALL BEEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
WHEN HITTING UNEVEN PAYMENT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT TIRES AND STEERING STARTS TO SHAKE. AS SPEED DECREASES, THE WOBBLE INCREASES TO THE POINT WHERE THE VIOLENT SHAKING WILL NOT STOP UNTIL ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP. I FOLLOWED THE NHTSA RECOMMENDATION OF 65 PSI AND OTHER PRESSURES AND IT HAS NO AFFECT ON THE WOBBLE. IMO I BELIEVE THAT AS THE TIRES WEAR DOWN, THEY HAVE LESS TRACTION ON THE ROAD SURFACE WHICH ALLOWS FOR THE OSCILLATION OF THE TIRES TO OCCUR. PUTTING ON NEW TIRES IS A BANDAID FOR A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. I HAVE HEARD THAT CHANGING THE POSITION OF THE AXLE (I BELIEVE CAMBER) CAN CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH SHIMS. IN MY CASE, I NOTICED THAT THE SHAKING BECAME WORSE AS I SLOWED DOWN. THE NATURAL REACTION IS TO BRAKE WHEN THE WOBBLE BEGINS. I DECIDED THAT THE NEXT TIME IT OCCURRED, I WOULD SPEED UP. IT WORKS. THE WOBBLE CORRECTS ITSELF IN A FEW SECONDS AND IS NEVER NEAR AS SEVERE AS WHEN I SLOW DOWN. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO DEEPER THAN HAS BEEN IN THE PAST. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. FORD, YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.

THE PROCESS OF FIXING IS LONG AND CONSISTS OF TRIAL AND ERROR UNTIL THE MANY POSSIBLE REASONS ARE FINALLY ADDRESSED AND SPECIFIC THING FIXED.
