THE 6.7 CID DIESEL ENGINE DRIVEN VACUUM PUMP SUDDENLY BEGINS LEAKING MOTOR OIL. FAILURE OF THIS PUMP WILL AFFECT 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEMS INCLUDING AUTO LOCKING HUBS AND ALL INTERIOR CLIMATE CONTROLS. LOSS OF MOTOR OIL COULD CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE. FAILURE OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM DURING ADVERSE WEATHER COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH OR LOSS OF CONTROL. RESEARCH INDICATES MULTIPLE FAILURES OF THIS PART, INDICATING A SYSTEMIC FAILURE. *TR
VEHICLE PRIMARY COOLING SYSTEM (RADIATOR) BEGAN LEAKING WHERE THE ALUMINUM COILS ARE ATTACHED TO THE PLASTIC TANK. I TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY VERIFIED. LEAK WAS SLOW FOR FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS, THEN PROGRESSED. REPLACEMENT WAS INSERTED BEFORE RADIATOR LEAK COULD CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE TO VEHICLE OR PERSONS. THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS YEAR/MODEL AND OWNERS FEEL THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY DUE TO INADEQUATE TESTING OR PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS. THE PUBLIC RATE OF OCCURRENCE IS VERY HIGH. OF COURSE FOMOCO WILL NOT PUBLISH DATA UNTIL FORCED. REPORTS OF RADIATORS FAILING < 50,000 MILES IS NOT UNCOMMON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 50-60 MPH AND GOING OVER A COUPLE OF SMALL BUMPS THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN ON THE FREEWAY TO ABOUT 35 FOR THE SHAKING TO STOP. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN A WEEK. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON SEVERAL WEBSITES AND SEEING THE YOUTUBE VIDEO I DECIDED TO FILE THE COMPLAINT. I WILL BE GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP NEXT WEEK. *TR
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2013 WITH 99,000 MILES ON IT. IN JANUARY OF 2014 I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE CODE READ. AT THIS POINT THE DIESEL TECH COMES AND TELLS ME THAT MY FUEL SYSTEM HAS BEEN CONTAMINATED AND THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM AND THAT I SHOULD CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO COVER THE COST. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SENT OUT AN INSPECTOR WHO TOOK SEVERAL FUEL SAMPLES. NOW AFTER 16 DAYS WITHOUT MY TRUCK THE TEST SAMPLES HAVE CAME BACK AS 100% PURE DIESEL FUEL WITH NO TRACE EVIDENCE OF CONTAMINATION AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COST. THEY ARE CURRENTLY SENDING ME LEGAL DOCUMENTATION AS WELL. THE FORD DEALER KNOWING THIS INFORMATION REFUSES TO BUDGE FROM THEIR CONTAMINATION CLAIMS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED HIT POTHOLE AND TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. PULLED OF THE FREEWAY TO INSPECT AND EVERYTHING LOOKED OK. GOT BACK ONTO FREEWAY AND CROSSED OVER A BRIDGE AND THE SAME VIOLENT SHAKE HAPPENED UNTIL I SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH. DROPPED TRUCK OFF AT DEALER ON WAY HOME FROM WORK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON STRAIGHT ROADS, IF YOU ENCOUNTER ROUGH ROAD SURFACE (CONSTRUCTION, POTHOLE, ETC) STEERING AND FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO OSCILLATE VIOLENTLY. IT IS ALMOST LIKE THE OSCILLATION CREATES A HARMONIC FREQUENCY THAT INCREASES THE INTENSITY TO A DEGREE THAT THE VEHICLE MUST BE SLOWED OR STOPPED TO RECOVER. *TR
HIT ROUGH PATCH ON HIGHWAY AND TRUCK STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. HAD TO SLOW TO ABOUT 25 MPH BEFORE IT STOPPED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY COULD FIND NO ISSUES WITH THE TRUCK. NO PARTS WERE REPLACED OR ADJUSTED. *TR
IN REFERENCE TO COMPLAINT # 10558358, I LOCATED THE TIRE UNDER MICHELIN NORTH AMERICA. THE INNER WALLS NEAR THE RIM ON ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE MULTIPLE CRACKS. NEAR THE TREAD OF TWO TIRES I HAVE LOCATED ADDITIONAL CRACKS. THESE TIRES ARE ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 28,000 MILES. *TR
I HAVE A 2011 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY 28,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LT275/65R20 TIRES. I RECENTLY NOTICED STRESS CRACKS ALONE THE INNER WALL NEAR THE RIM ON ALL 4 TIRES. THERE IS ALSO CRACKS AROUND THE UPPER PORTION OF THE TIRE AROUND THE TREAD. THROUGH RESEARCH I HAVE LOCATED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THESE TIRES BUT IN THE SIZE OF LT 275/55R20. I HAVE CONTACTED MICHELIN AND WAS TOLD TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES ( $330 X 4 ) AND SEND THESE TIRES TO THEM FOR INSPECTION. THERE IS A POSSIABILITY OF A PRORATION BUT NO GUARANTEE. AS IN THE POSTED SAFETY RECALL THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO HAVE A PARTIAL OR FULL LOSS OF AIR MAKING THIS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 99 IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY OF CALIFORNIA NORTH OF VISALIA, CA. I WAS MAINTAINING MY SPEED IN THE FAST (SECOND LANE) LANE BETWEEN 65 AND 70 MPH ON A PORTION OF THE HIGHWAY THAT WAS RECENTLY LAID WITH FRESH ASPHALT. THIS OF COURSE, MADE THE ROAD SURFACE VERY SMOOTH ALTHOUGH THERE WAS SOME TRANSITION PORTIONS OF THE ROAD SURFACE WITH A FEW ROUGHER SECTIONS. GOING OVER ONE OF THE TRANSITIONS THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC BOTH BEHIND ME AND TO THE SLOW LANE TO MY RIGHT. I BELIEVE THE OTHER DRIVES SAW MY SITUATION AND ALLOWED ME TO PULL TO THE SLOW LANE TO GET CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. ONCE MY SPEED WAS REDUCED TO AROUND 35 TO 40 MPH, THE SHAKING STOPPED. THE PASSENGER WHO WAS WITH ME WAS UNDOUBTEDLY SHAKEN UP - NO BUN INTENDED. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME I EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" THAT SO MANY OTHER FORD TRUCK OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS ABOUT THREE MONTHS EARLIER WHILE TRAVELING ON THE GOLDEN STATE HIGHWAY IN BAKERSFIELD, CA. MY SPEED AT THAT TIME WAS 60 MPH AND BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY AFTER PASSING OVER A CONCRETE TO CONCRETE TRANSITION IN THE ROAD. FOLLOWING BOTH EVENTS I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. MY DEALER IS JIM BURKE FORD, BAKERSFIELD, CA. THE FIRST TIME INTO SERVICE THE DEALER CHANGED OUT THE STEERING STABILIZE AND SAID ALL OTHER FRONT END AND STEERING COMPONENTS CHECKED OUT FINE. THE STEERING STABILIZER CHANGE OUT WAS FUNNY BECAUSE I HAD REPLACED THE ORIGINAL ONE AND INSTALLED A NEW BILSTEIN BRAND STEERING STABILIZER ON THE TRUCK A FEW MONTHS PRIOR. I HAVE ENJOYED THIS TRUCK BUT IT IS BEGINNING TO SCARE MY AS I'M CONCERNED ANOTHER EVENT COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. PLEASE HELP US FORD TRUCK OWNERS. THANK YOU. *TR
I HAVE AN F-250 SUPER DUTY FX4. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 15,000 MILES AND LAST YEAR IN OCT, 2012 THE TRUCK HAD A VIOLENT SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END AT 9,000 MILES. THIS OCCURRED ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THE TRUCK HAS STARTED THIS SHAKING AGAIN. THIS HAS OCCURRED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. THIS HAPPENS IF I CHANGE LANES THAT ARE UNEVEN AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH AND WILL ALSO HAPPEN AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 60 MPH IF THE ROAD IS A BIT BUMPY. IT IS VERY SCARY AND THE TRUCK IS UNCONTROLLABLE UNTIL THE SHAKING STOPS. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEED, ALL OF THE SUDDEN AFTER GOING OVER A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD, I EXPERIENCED A SEVERE RATTLING AND LOSS OF CONTROL. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEARLY CAUSED A MULTIPLE CAR PILE UP. A WEEK LATER, I HAD THE SAME THING. THIS TIME AS I WAS APPROACHING HIGHWAY SPEED GETTING ON TO THE HIGHWAY. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THIS CAUSED ANOTHER ACCIDENT ON THAT HIGHWAY THAT I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN BUT WAS A DIRECT RESULT OF MY HAVING TO SLOW TO A STOP DUE TO THIS INCIDENT. AFTER THIS, I LOOKED ONLINE AND IT APPEARS THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH FORD SUPER DUTY TRUCKS SINCE 2006 AND HAS CAUSED MORE THAN ONE ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLE FATALITIES. THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM AS WELL. THE TRUCK IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD, AND HAS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
FUELED UP DROVE TRUCK FOR 2 DAYS NO PROBLEMS. THAT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING TRUCK BEEPED LOW FUEL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND TRUCK DIED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. GOT TOWED IN TO HEALEY BROS IN GOSHEN,NY. AFTER 4 DAYS WAS TOLD I HAD WATER IN THE DIESEL. BUT IF THERE WAS, THE WATER IN FUEL LIGHT SENSOR SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF AND IT DIDN'T. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAD TO REPLACE EVERYTHING FROM THE FUEL PUMP TO THE INJECTS. AT AN OUTSTANDING $10,000. AFTER 1 MONTH OF FIGHTING WITH FORD AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY, NOBODY WANTS TO COVER EVEN UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I HAVE. I GAVE DEALERSHIP OK TO FIX. ANOTHER MOTHER LATER SUPPOSEDLY STILL WAITING ON PARTS. AT THIS TIME I'VE HAD ENOUGH MAKING MY 400.00 A MONTH PAYMENT AND PAYING MY INSURANCE ON A TRUCK I DON'T HAVE, I CALLED A LAWYER. WELL WHEN THE LAWYER REQUESTED INFO SUCH AS IF FORD SENT AN ADJUSTER, WHAT TESTS DID THEY RUN ON FUEL, WHAT WAS THE % OF WATER, WHY DIDN'T THE LIGHT COME ON THAT THEY TESTED AND SAID IT WAS OK AND A WRITTEN STATEMENT BACKING UP THEIR STATEMENT OF WATER IN THE FUEL SO I COULD GO AFTER THE FUEL COMPANY THEY REFUSED TO GIVE THEM UP. NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY WANT TO WORK WITH ME AND FORD IS GONNA COVER THE WORK AND CREDIT ME 2 MONTHS PAYMENTS. SOMETHING SMELL ROTTEN IN DENMARK WITH THIS ENGINE PROBLEM AND HEALEY BROS FORD AND FORD THEMSELVES. STILL WONT GIVE ME AND HONEST ANSWER ON WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. AND STILL WAITING FOR MY TRUCK. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE SHAKING CEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250 DIESEL SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE EGT 14 SENSOR AND A CODE WAS RESET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
APP. ONE YEAR AGO, I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY TRUCK. IT WOULD SHAKE IF I HIT A ROUGH SPOT OR BRIDGE APPROACH AT 60 TO 70 MILES AN HOUR, CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE WHOLE TRUCK TO SHAKE. I'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALER A NUMBER OF TIMES AND HAVE SPENT ABOUT $2100.00 AND IT'S STILL DOING IT. AT TIMES IT SHAKES REALLY HARD AND TO GET IT TO QUIT I HAVE TO BRING MY SPEED DOWN TO 30 MILES AN HOUR. THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH ALL THE TRAFFIC. FORD SAYS IT DOES THAT SOMETIMES, I'VE HAD 6 F250'S FROM 1999 TO PRESENT AND NONE OF THEM HAVE EVER DONE THIS, EXCEPT THIS TRUCK. HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANY MORE COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE? TIRE VIBRATION WAS NOTED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE. STOPPED TO CHECK PRESSURE ON ALL TIRES AND WAS FINE. CHECKED AGAIN A FEW HOURS LATER AND WAS FINE. AFTER DRIVING APPROX 20 MILES DOWN INTERSTATE THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BLEW CAUSING SEVERE BODY DAMAGE TO 2011 FORD F250 PICKUP. SERVICE TRUCK WAS CALLED TO CHANGE TIRE DUE TO BRING UNABLE TO LOOSEN LUG NUTS. SERVICEMAN ALSO RECONNECTED ANTILOCK BRAKES WHICH CAME UNHOOKED WHEN TIRE BLEW. THE NEXT DAY THE LOCAL TIRE SHOP CHECKED OTHER TIRES AND FOUND THAT THE DRIVERS FRONT TIRE TREAD IS SEPARATING. BETWEEN 14/32-15/32NDS TREAD REAMAINING ON THESE FACTORY TIRES WITH 27000 MILES ON THEM.
DRIVING DOWN A 6 LANE HIGHWAY IN MID DAY TRAFFIC. HAD JUST LEFT MY HOUSE NOT 2 MINUTES EARLIER. LIGHT COMES ON SAYS STOP SAFELY NOW. I START TO SWITCH LANES AND THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN. I AVOIDED A NEAR COLLISION AND SWERVED INTO A TURN LANE. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT EVEN TURN OVER. CALLED THE DEALER AND AFTER I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED THEY STATED OH YOU HAVE A BAD EGT EXHAUST SENSOR IT SHUTS THE VEHICLE DOWN AND WAS INFORMED IT IS A REGULAR THING. WHEN I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE IS NO FIX OR UPGRADE JUST CHANGE THE SENSOR. THEY ALSO SAID THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO GO OUT. THEY EXPLAINED WHEN ONE OF THE FOUR SENSORS GOES BAD IT READS A HIGH TEMP READING AND THAT TRIGGERS THE SHUT DOWN. ASKED WHY THEY DON'T CHANGE THE SOFTWARE TO GIVE WARNING WHEN ONE SHOWS HOT AND SHUT DOWN WHEN A MINIMUM OF 2 OR 3 SHOW HOT. I MEAN IF THERE ARE 4 SENSORS AND ONE SHOWS 2200 THE OTHERS SHOW 200 SOMETHING TELLS ME THE SENSORS THE ISSUE. I AM THANKFUL THIS OCCURRED WHEN IT DID INSTEAD OF A MINUTE EARLIER W HEN I INITIALLY PULLED ONTO THE HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF A DUMP TRUCK. IF IT HAD HAPPENED THEN IT WOULD HAVE KILLED ME OR SOMEONE ELSE HAD THE DUMP TRUCK BEEN FORCED TO SWERVE. THIS IS A TRAGEDY WAITING TO HAPPEN. I RESEARCHED IT ON LINE AND SEE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. THIS IS A DIESEL TRUCK. *TR
WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR POT HOLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE FRONT TIRES WOBBLE UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL YOU ALL BUT STOP. THIS COULD CATCH SOMEONE OFF GUARD TO CRASH INTO SOMEONE ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DEF FLUID WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE NITRIC EXHAUST FILTER WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. UPDATED 11/2/13*CN THE TRUCK WOULD ONLY GO TO 55 MPH AFTER 200 MILES OR SO. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP, AND IT STOPPED ON THE WAY HOME, AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY KEPT IT FOR 10 DAYS. NOW, SMOKE EMITS FROM THE EXHAUST. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS NORMAL. UPDATED 11/5/13
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE FRONT END OF MY 2011 F250 FX4 DIESEL BEGAN VIOLENTLY. I HAD TO PULL ONTO THE MEDIAN AND SLOW TO LESS THAN 20 MPH TO MAKE IT STOP. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM, AND, ALTHOUGH I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, CHANGING THE SHOCKS AND STEERING STABILIZER, I STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. *TR
THE 2011- CURRENT FORD F-250'S HAVE NUMEROUS KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHICH CREATE SITUATIONS WHERE THE TRUCK WILL HESITATE AUTOMATIC SHIFTS BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. IN MY CASE IT DID SO AS I WAS PULLING ONTO A BUSY ROAD, STALLED, AND CAUSED ME TO SIT WITH NO POWER LONG ENOUGH FOR ANOTHER DRIVER TO NOT REACT QUICKLY ENOUGH AND RUN INTO ME. *TR
FEDERAL 35X12.50R20 COURAGIA M/T TIRES, BOUGHT A SET OF 4 TIRES AT TIRE 59, IN HOUSTON TEXAS, AND 2 OF THE 4 TIRES WITHIN A MONTH GREW BUBBLES AND WERE GOING TO BLOW, ON 2 DIFFERENT INSTANCES. I CAN UNDERSTAND MAYBE ONE OF THE TIRE POSSIBLY HAVING A PROBLEM BUT 2 OF THEM WHICH WERE PURCHASED AT THE SAME TIME AND PLACE, THERE HAS TO BE A DEFECT. *TR
I HAVE HAD REPEATED ISSUES WITH THE STEERING OF MY TRUCK. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET THIS RESOLVED. THE ISSUE IS KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". I WAS UNAWARE OF HOW COMMON THIS ISSUE WAS UNTIL I STARTED READING FORMS WHERE MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME COMPLAINT. WAS GOING OVER A BRIDGE THAT HAD UNEVEN PAVEMENT WITH A SLIGHT BANK TO THE LEFT AND THE STEERING AND ENTIRE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY AND PUT THE VEHICLE INTO THE NEARBY FIELD AFTER RUNNING OFF THE ROAD. I CONTACTED FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED TO CHECK TIRE AIR PRESSURE (AIR PRESSURE WAS FINE-STOCK TIRES AND RIMS). FRONT STEERING STABILIZER WAS CHECKED AND THAT WAS FINE. TRACK BAR AND TIE ROD CHECKED AND THOSE TOO WERE FINE. A LOCAL FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SHOP INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE QUITE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND AT 31000 MILES THEY RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE TIE ROD, DUAL STEERING STABILIZERS, AND ANOTHER ALIGNMENT. MOST OFF ROAD DEALERS ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND EVEN SAY TO ADJUST THE CASTER TO A POSITIVE 4 TO CORRECT. AS SEEN ON THE INTERNET, THIS BEGAN AROUND 2005 WITH STRAIGHT AXLE AND COIL SUSPENSION. THE TRUCK QUICKLY LOST POWER BUT I WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT FROM THE TRAVEL LANES AS THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND I LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKE FUNCTIONS. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DUE TO "CONTAMINATION" IN THE FUEL SUPPLY THE FUEL REGULATOR STUCK OPEN AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE. UPON VISUAL INSPECTION BY ME AT THE DEALERSHIP I EXAMINED THE METAL PORTION OF THE FUEL REGULATOR WHICH HAD RUST LIKE CORROSION ON IT DUE TO MOISTURE IN THE FUEL. FORD'S POSITION IS THAT THE MOISTURE IN THE DIESEL FUEL IS "CONTAMINATION" AND THEREFORE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THE SYSTEM HAS TWO IN LINE FILTERS ONE OF WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO SEPARATE WATER FROM THE FUEL BECAUSE DIESEL FUEL HAS A CERTAIN MOISTURE CONTENT IN IT. FORD WILL NOT WARRANTY THE REPAIR AND IS RECOMMENDING A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL SYSTEM OR THE REMAINING WARRANTY WILL BE VOIDED. THE REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO BE IN THE $10,000 TO $12,000 RANGE. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT FORD(AS WELL AS OTHER AUTOMAKERS THAT USE THE BOSCH FUEL SYSTEMS) HAS MANY COMPLAINTS RELATED TO FRAGILITY OF THIS DIESEL FUEL SYSTEM AND THAT IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA. THE NHTSA NEED TO GO TO THE FORD FORUM AND READ THE STORIES ABOUT THE FRONT END WOBBLES, SHIMMY, AND SHAKING BY THE F250 AND F350S, THER ARE MANY NEAR MISS INCIDENTS THAT IF THEY OCCUR THESE VEHICLES ARE TO BIG FOR THE INDIVIDUALS IN THE OPPPSITE LANES TO SURVIVE. THE ISSUE STARTED AT ABOUT 6000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN WORSE. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AT 14,000 MILES AND AT 20,000 MILES WITH NO FIX PROVIDED. *TR

WITHIN THE VISITS, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. EVEN WITH THE ROTORS SMOKING AND GLOWING RED, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED INTO THE SERVICE BAY. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER, WHERE THEY SUGGESTED ALL THE FRONT END BRAKE COMPONENTS AS WELL AS THE INTERIOR BRAKE ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE BATTERY DEVELOPED A LEAK AROUND THE BATTERY CAPS. THE ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT, WHICH CAUSED A SMALL FIRE AND MELTED A PORTION OF THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE CHARGING SYSTEM.

OUR FAMILY OWNS FOUR SIMILAR MODEL FORD SUPER DUTIES AND THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON TWO OTHER OF THE TRUCKS' SEAT BELTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFELY ISSUE AND APPEARS TO BE A VEHICLE DEFECT. WE HAVE NOTIFIED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAID NO RECALL EXISTS SO WERE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST IN CORRECTING THE ISSUE. THE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
