AS I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD AT A SPEED THAT WAS GREATER THAN 50 MPH I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE SO VIOLENTLY THAT I THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO FALL OFF. THIS HAD HAPPENED BEGINNING AROUND LATE NOVEMBER EARLY DECEMBER OF 2012. IT DID IT SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND I CONTACTED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE TRUCK WAS SERVICED AND NOTHING IN THE FRONT END WAS FOUND TO BE DAMAGED AND IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE THE TIRES ON THE TRUCK. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AND THE TRUCK HAS BEEN FINE FOR THE PAST YEAR. ON 10/30/13 I AGAIN WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AT A SPEED GREATER THAN 50 MPH AND HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE FRONT END AGAIN BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. I HAVE BEEN PIN THIS SHAKING DOWN TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS. IT WILL SHAKE IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, YOU HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD (THIS BUMP DOES NOT HAVE TO BE BIG IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS DRIVING FROM THE ROADWAY ONTO A BRIDGE DECK) THE FRONT END WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE AND VERY QUICKLY GET VIOLENT. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT FROM SHAKING IS TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN TO A SPEED THAT IS LESS THAN HIGHWAY SPEED WHICH WILL CAUSE THE VIBRATION TO STOP AND YOU CAN THEN RETURN TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND I DO NOT HAVE THE EXACT DATES THAT IT OCCURRED PRIOR TO CHANGING THE TIRES. HOWEVER IT IS BEGINNING AGAIN AND THE FIRST TIME WAS ON THE 30TH OF OCTOBER 2013. *TR
I DROVE OVER A BRIDGE ON AN INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. IT FELT AS THOUGH ALL FOUR TIRES BLEW OUT AND I HAD NO CONTROL OVER STEERING WHATSOEVER. I HAD TO SLOW ALMOST TO A STOP AND PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAYS SPEEDS, DRIVING OVER A BUMP THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F250 EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TIRES, SIZE: LT267565R18. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN HE FELT A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE HAD A BLISTER AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THREE WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE WITH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE, WHICH WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE FOR THE VEHICLE AND TIRES WAS 27,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND I HIT A LINE OF BUMPS. THE TRUCK WOULD START SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND I WOULD HAVE TO SLOW DOWN UNDER 30 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. FORD PUT A NEW STEERING DAMPER IN AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED 2 WEEKS AFTER. I WENT AND BOUGHT A KIT FROM WRC MOTORSPORTS FOR $1,000 AND PAID OVER $500.00 TO HAVE IT PUT IN TODAY. HOPEFULLY THIS STOPS THE PROBLEM AND FORD WILL REIMBURSE ME SOME OF THE COST. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING WEST BOUND ON INTERSTATE 70 IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH UNEVEN PAVEMENT THE VEHICLE'S RIGHT FRONT WHEEL PASSED OVER A PAVEMENT PATCH WHICH WAS SLIGHTLY RAISED. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL PASSED OVER A PAVEMENT PATCH WHICH WAS SLIGHTLY RAISED. THESE TWO RELATIVELY MINOR BUMPS CAUSED A WOBBLE IN THE STEERING WHICH THEN INTENSIFIED UNTIL THE VEHICLE STEERING WAS VIRTUALLY UNCONTROLLABLE. IN ORDER TO STOP THE VIOLENT BOUNCING AND WOBBLE I HAD TO BRAKE HARD ALMOST COMING TO A STOP. THIS UNEXPECTED RAPID SPEED REDUCTION QUITE NATURALLY CAUSED VEHICLES TO HAVE TO BRAKE VERY HARD TO AVOID A COLLISION. SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET HAS REVEALED THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I DROVE 3/4 TON AND ONE TON 4X4 TRUCKS FOR 30 YEARS AS PART OF MY DUTIES AS A RURAL AREA LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WITH CO-LATERAL DUTIES IN REMOTE AREA SEARCH AND RESCUE. HAD I BEEN TOWING MY FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER WHEN THIS HIGH SPEED WOBBLE OCCURRED IT COULD VERY WELL HAVE RESULTED IN A MAJOR TRAFFIC INCIDENT/COLLISION INVOLVING MULTIPLE VEHICLES. AS IT WAS WE WERE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE AVOIDED REAR END COLLISIONS AS A RESULT OF THE NECESSITY TO UNEXPECTEDLY BRAKE AND SLOW TO REGAIN CONTROL OF OUR TRUCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F250SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED WITH THE ENGINE ON, SMOKE STARTED TO EMIT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND REPORT WAS FILED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,500. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH OVER A ROAD BUMP THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL THE SPEED DECELERATED TO 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND COULD NOT DETERMINE ANY FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY ALSO CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE BUT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WHILE DRIVING OVER BUMPS, ROUGH PATCHES, UNEVEN RAILROAD TRACKS THE VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL WILL START SHAKING VIOLENTLY. IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL UNLESS THE SPEED IS REDUCED DRAMATICALLY (BELOW 20MPH ON A FREEWAY). AFTER DOING SOME INTERNET RESEARCH IS A COMMON TROUBLE WITH THIS TYPE OF TRUCK. IS CALLED "DEATH WOBBLE". I SENT AN EMAIL TO FORD AND I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. IT'S A DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR
MY TRUCK IS A 2011 FORD F-250 SD DIESEL. DEATH WOBBLE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TRAVELING ON A STREET AND HIT A BUMP AT ABOUT 45 MPH. THE FRONT END STARTED TO SHIMMY TO THE POINT I HAD TO SLOW ALMOST TO A STOP TO GAIN CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 MORE TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH, I HAD TO SLOW TO AT LEAST 25-30 MPH TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE TRUCK WHILE OTHER VEHICLES ARE STILL TRAVELING AT THE POSTED HIGHWAY SPEED. I HAVE CHANGED THE STEERING STABILIZER, ALL FOUR SHOCKS AND HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED. I HAVE HAD TWO MECHANICS LOOK AT THE FRONT END. THEY BOTH HAVE SAID THE FRONT END IS TIGHT AND HAS NO PROBLEMS THAT THEY CAN SEE. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 41000 MILES ON IT TO DATE. *TR
ON MORE THAN A DOZEN OCCASIONS, F250 WILL EXPERIENCE A NEAR COMPLETE LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR DOES NOTHING. WHEN YOU LIMP THE TRUCK TO THE SHOULDER AND PLACE IT INTO PARK, THE ENGINE IDLES VERY ROUGH, VIBRATING THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE IS TO STOP VEHICLE, TURN OFF IGNITION, AND LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR 60-90 SECONDS. THE PROBLEM USUALLY THEN RESOLVES ITSELF. 60-70 PERCENT OF THE TIME THIS OCCURS DURING TOW-HAUL MODE. GROSS WEIGHT OF TRAILER IS AROUND 11.5K. MAX PULL IS 14K. DEALERSHIP FIRST REPLACED ALL FUEL INJECTORS BUT PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 6+ TIMES SINCE SERVICE. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE: VEHICLE WAS DISABLED ON UPHILL GRADE, IN ROADWAY, WITH WIFE AND KIDS AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER ROOM. ANOTHER INCIDENCE OCCURRED IN WYOMING WITH NO CELL SERVICE ON SIDE OF REMOTE HIGHWAY. WE WERE STRANDED FOR 30-45 MINUTES AS PROBLEM WOULD NOT RESET ITSELF USING NORMAL METHOD. I AM NO MECHANIC BUT SUSPECT FAULTY COMPUTER, FUEL SYSTEM PUMP, ETC. GETTING READY TO PURSUE BUY-BACK OF VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP. ORIGINAL COST CLOSE TO 55K. *TR
AT HIGH SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH, IF TRUCK HITS A BUMP, FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY UNTIL YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. DEALER HAS NO ANSWER. ON INTERNET MANY OTHERS HAVING SAME PROBLEM. CALLED "DEATH RATTLE". *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH, HE DROVE OVER A BUMP AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE HAD TO DECELERATE SINCE THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WAS GOING TO CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE STEERING STABILIZER SHOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000. UPDATED 10/31/12*LJ UPDATED 10/31/12
THE LEFT REAR BRAKE GETS HOT AND SMOKES AND WONT RELEASE. WE TOOK IT TO OUR FORD DEALERSHIP WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY DROVE IT AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. WE'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES ON THAT TIRE ONLY NOW 3 TIMES. EACH TIME THE BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY WORN THROUGH THE METAL, THE ROTOR HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE CALIPERS. AGAIN THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED WITH THE LEFT REAR TIRE. THE OTHER TIRES HAVE THE ORIGINAL BRAKES ON THEM. SOMETHING HAS BEEN WRONG WITH THIS TIRE SINCE THE TRUCK WAS BRAND NEW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL BUZZING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY UNKNOWN AFTERMARKET ADDITIONS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 22,000. UPDATED 7/9/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE NEEDED A GOOD ACCELERATION, THE ENGINE HAD A VERY BAD LAG IN ACCELERATION. FUEL SYSTEM FAILED, FILTER HOUSING SPLIT OPEN BEFORE SERVICE INTERVAL, DIESEL FUEL SPRAYED OVER ENTIRE ENGINE, NO FIRE BUT IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. *TR
DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY, MAKING A SLIGHT LEFT TURN, HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD, AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED JERKING VIOLENTLY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT FROM THE 9:00 TO 3:00 POSITIONS. I COULD NOT STOP IT WITH BOTH HANDS. I HAD TO BRAKE THE VEHICLE TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP TO END THE JERKING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON ALMOST A DAILY BASIS. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 22,193 MILES ON IT. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 4 TIMES AND THEY HAVE BEEN CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE SEVERAL TIMES. THE FRONT END. CHANGED THE STEERING DAMPER , WHICH SLIGHTLY HELPED FOR ABOUT 500 MILES. IT IS NOW HAPPENING EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IS GETTING WORSE. NOW ALSO HAPPENING AT LOWER SPEEDS, AROUND 30 MPH AND UP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 66 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND THERE WAS LOSS OF ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. LATER WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO WOBBLE UNCONTROLLABLY, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER TO THE LEFT ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,306.
THE FRONT STARTED VIBRATING VIOLENTLY, ONLY STOPPED AFTER SLOWING SIGNIFICANTLY. THE PROBLEM WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED AS STEERING DAMPENER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". THIS HAS BEEN "REPAIRED" THREE TIMES AND IS NOW RECURRING. *TR
2011 FORD 250 DIESEL HAS BEEN IN FOR FRONT END SERVICE(FRONT END ALIGNMENTS) AND EXCESSIVE SCALLOPING OF TIRES FOUR TIMES. TWO DEALERSHIPS HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER THE SEVERITY OF THE TIRES. THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AND THE FRONT END HAS STARTED TO SHAKE/WOBBLE AFTER HITTING A BUMP. *TR
DURING A DRIVE ON THE HWY, THE VEHICLE WENT OVER AN UNEVEN SECTION OF THE ROAD CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO WOBBLE AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY. I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE THINKING I HAD HIT SOMETHING OR HAD A FLAT TIRED. NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WAS FOUND. THE SAME EVENT OCCURRED A MONTH OR SO LATER WHEN DRIVING BACK FROM THE AIRPORT AND HIT A POT HOLE AT ABOUT 50 MILES AN HOUR. THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN FELT OUT OF CONTROL SHIFTING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT ON THE HWY AND FELT UNCONTROLLABLE. GOT HOME, CHECKED ALL ASSOCIATED SUSPENSION HARDWARE AND NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WAS DETECTED. AT THIS POINT, I AM A BIT HESITANT TO GO AT SPEED LIMIT AND CONSTANTLY WATCHING, AVOIDING MAIN HIGHWAYS. IT SEEMS LIKE THE VEHICLE HAS SUSPENSION ISSUES AND IT WAS NOT DESIGNED ACCORDINGLY TO ITS HEAVY DUTY RATINGS. THE VEHICLE IS A ROAD HAZARD AND A DANGER TO THE DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS.. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH, SOMETIMES LESS, CHANGING PAVEMENT FROM SEMI SMOOTH TO KIND OF ROUGH, MY F250SD BEGINS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. SO SEVERE I ALMOST LOSE CONTROL. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO NOT HAVE OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS SHAKING LAST UNTIL I LET OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR WHILE TRYING TO KEEP MY VEHICLE BETWEEN THE LINES AND HAVING TRAFFIC STAY FAR BEHIND WHEN IT FINALLY REGAINS CONTROL. THIS NOT ONLY HAPPENS AT 60 - 70 MPH BUT EVEN SOMETIMES AT 30 MPH IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON ROUGH PAVEMENT. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THIS VIOLENT SHAKING STARTS, IT CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR YOU AND ALL OTHER DRIVERS NEAR. I HAVE CHANGED SHOCKS, BALANCED FRONT END, TIGHTENED SUSPENSION AND ANYTHING ELSE TO DO WITH A FRONT END AND I STILL HAVE NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. *TR
TRUCK SUFFERS FROM FRONT WHEEL OSCILLATION WHEN TRAVELING OVER BROKEN/ROUGH ROAD. TRUCK SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL SPEED IS GREATLY REDUCED. THE SAME AS 2005-2010 TRUCKS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE STEERING STABILIZER AND FRONT END SHOCKS WERE REPLACED AT DIFFERENT TIMES. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED WHENEVER DRIVING OVER A ROAD BUMP OR POTHOLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,848.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS AN OBSTRUCTED EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION COOLER CORD. THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION COOLER CORD WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,900. I WAS DRIVING ON A ENTRANCE RAMP TO AN INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 55-60MPH... I RECALL HITTING SOME TYPE OF ROAD BUMPS - PAVEMENT JOINT THAT STARTED THE EVENT... MY 2011 F250 SUPER DUTY HAS SHOOK SINCE THE FIRST TIME I HAD IT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 60-75MPH IT SHAKES TO THE POINT WHERE ITS UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE. THIS VEHICLE HAS SEVERE FRONT END WOBBLE WHICH MOSTLY OCCURS BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 55 - 70 MPH. THE STEERING WHEEL AND ENTIRE VEHICLE BEGINS TO VIOLENTLY WOBBLE SO MUCH THAT USUALLY THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO STOP THE WOBBLE. THE COVER ON THE DASH OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG HAS CRACKED DUE TO THE VIOLENT SHAKING IN THE TRUCK. ALSO, FLUID HAS BEGUN TO LEAK FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL AS A RESULT OF THE SHAKING AS WELL. WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN ON A FREEWAY OUR V6 ECOBOOST F150 TRUCK ENGINE STARTS TO SHUDDER, SHAKE AND THEN RAPIDLY LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DEALER IS RELUCTANTLY LOOKING AT IT AGAIN, HOPEFULLY THIS WEEK. THEY WANTED TO LOOK AT IT NEXT WEEK, BUT I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. THIS STRIKES ME AS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO BULLETINS FOR MY TRANSMISSION. THEY WANTED IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN SO I COULD BE MORE SPECIFIC ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT I WAS ACCELERATING OR NOT. I DID NOT FEEL THEY WERE TAKING IT SERIOUSLY ENOUGH, SO I HAD TO ESCALATE THE SERVICE MANAGER'S DECISION TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT MORE QUICKLY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHEELS ON THE VEHICLE ARE 17 INCHES TALL, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE FELT THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE EQUIPPED WITH RUNNING BOARDS TO ASSIST WITH ENTERING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH OVER A POT HOLE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT WAITED UNTIL THE SHAKING CEASED INDEPENDENTLY HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED FREQUENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE TIRES AND RECOMMENDED HAVING A FRONT END ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED AND AN ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
INTERMITTENTLY BETWEEN 35 MPH AND 85 MPH, THE VEHICLE WILL START TO SHUDDER FOR 5-15 SECONDS AND DURING THIS TIME, SOMETIMES WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY LOSS OF THROTTLE. IT GENERALLY HAPPENS DURING OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER A REGEN / CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER MESSAGE APPEARS. THE "SHUDDER" COULD ALSO BE DESCRIBED AS A "LUGGING" SENSATION. I PURCHASED A NEW DIESEL 2011 F-250 LARIAT 4X4 CREW CAB 172' WB. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK BASED ON THE CHARTS IN A FORD BROCHURE. ACCORDING TO THE PAYLOAD CHART ON PAGE 39 OF THE BROCHURE, THE PAYLOAD FOR MY TRUCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN 2,210 LBS. ACCORDING TO THE TOWING CHART, THE PAYLOAD FOR MY TRUCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN 15% OF 15,700 LBS., WHICH IS 2,355 LBS. I DID NOT DISCOVER THE DISCREPANCY BETWEEN FORD'S PUBLISHED RATINGS AND THE ACTUAL CAPACITY OF THE TRUCK AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO FOOT NOTES IN THE PRINTED BROCHURE INDICATING THE PUBLISHED RATINGS WOULD NOT APPLY TO MY TRUCK AND BECAUSE OF WHERE FORD PLACED THE TIRE AND LOADING INFORMATION LABEL. ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA, FOR 'VEHICLES OTHER THAN MOTORCYCLES OR TRAILERS, THE LABEL MUST BE AFFIXED TO EITHER THE HINGE PILLAR, DOOR-LATCH POST, OR THE DOOR EDGE THAT MEETS THE DOOR-LATCH POST, NEXT TO THE DRIVER'S SEATING POSITION.' FORD PLACED THE LABEL ON THE BODY BELOW THE B PILLAR AND FACING DOWN. THE LABEL COULD NOT BE READ WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND COULD ONLY BE READ BY SITTING OR KNEELING ON THE GROUND. I DISCOVERED A JULY 30, 2014 ARTICLE IN AUTOMOTIVE NEWS THAT REVEALED STANDARD EQUIPMENT PARTS WERE REMOVED FROM SUPER DUTY TRUCKS BEGINNING WITH THE 2011 MODEL YEAR WHEN DETERMINING THE MAXIMUM PAYLOAD. THE PARTS INCLUDED, BUT WERE NOT LIMITED TO, THE SPARE TIRE, TIRE JACK, RADIO, AND CENTER CONSOLE. THE FORD BROCHURE DID NOT INDICATE THAT THE RATINGS WERE ESTABLISHED BY REMOVING STANDARD EQUIPMENT. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE PUBLISHED RATINGS AND MY TRUCK'S ACTUAL PAYLOAD WAS DUE TO 'OPTIONS.' FORD'S BROCHURE NEITHER FOOT NOTED THE RATINGS CHARTS NOR DISCLOSED THAT FORD HAD REMOVED STANDARD EQUIPMENT TO ESTABLISH THE RATINGS IN THE CHARTS. *TR *TR
FORD F 250 DEATH WOBBLE- HIT A BUMP AT SPEED ABOVE 30 MPH AND THE STEEERING WHEEL BEGINS AN UNCONTRILLABLE WOBBLE. IN FACT THE WHOLE TRUCK SHAKES VIOLENTLY. THE TRUCK HAS ACTUALLY JUMP SIDEWAYS INTO THE ON COMMING LANE. *TT PRREVOIUSLY REPORTS IN NHTSA FOR PREVIOUS YEARS FOR THIS VEHICLE (NHTSA TSB # 10028404 ) AND EA 08-007.
