The fuel tank sender on this vehicle is defective. Every single person I know, including over 100 people in a small facebook Ford group have broken fuel tank senders. Ford never recalled it and sell a new one for $600.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST AND THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE BECAME RESISTANT TO ACCELERATING ATTEMPTS AS THE CONTACT EXITED A DRIVEWAY AND THEN STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE INJECTORS WERE DEFECTIVE AND THE INJECTOR DEVICE MODULE (IDM) HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
I WAS INQUIRING ABOUT THE DELAMINATION OF FORDS FUEL TANKS ON THEIR F-SERIES DIESELS. I OWN A 2000 F350 7.3L DIESEL. LAST WEEK IT BEGAN TO RUN AS IF IT WASN'T GETTING FUEL SO I STOPPED INTO A LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEIR DIAGNOSES WAS THE FUEL TANK ON MY F350 STARTED TO DELAMINATE AND CLOG THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE IT WAS NEW AND HAVE DONE ALL THE MAINTENANCE AND UP-KEEP AS REQUIRED I HAVEN'T HAD ANY TROUBLE UNTIL AFTER THE FUEL COMPANIES STARTED TO CHANGE THE DIESEL FUEL. I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK SINCE IT WAS NEW AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL JUST RECENTLY. THE FUEL TANK PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED LAST WEEK BY A FORD DEALER IN MY AREA AND IT WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $3600 TO REPAIR. MY QUESTION IS, "IS THERE GOING TO BE AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS?" I HAVE FOUND A BLOG FROM MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE. SOMEONE ELSE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS NOT THE CONSUMER OR FORD, UNLESS THEY NEW THIS WOULD BE A PROBLEM AND CONTINUED TO PUT METAL TANKS IN INSTEAD OF PLASTIC. I AM REPLACING THE FUEL TANK FOR THE FOURTH TIME ON MY 2000 FORD 350 DIESEL RACKBODY DUMPTRUCK. I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK LEAVE ME STALLED DEAD IN FAST-MOVING, HEAVY TRAFFIC NUMEROUS TIMES. THE INTERIOR COATING OF THE STEEL FUEL TANK IS DISINTEGRATING AND FOULING THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM. *TR
