TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT LATCH WOULD UNLATCH BY ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED FOR NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 01V227001 (SEAT BELT), BUT THE DEALER DID NOT PERFORM ANY REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE BUCKLE. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES HARD AT ANY SPEED STEERING LOCKS UP, EVEN AT STAND STILL. DEALER STATED VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY, AND THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH WENT INTO AN EMBANKMENT AND HIT A DITCH. CONSUMER SUFFERED HEAD AND FACE INJURIES. NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. $ AMOUNT OF DAMAGE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME.*AK
AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR A DRIFT IN THE STEERING, FORD HAS TOLD ME THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT CURRENTLY THERE IS NO FIX. THIS PROBLEM COULD LIKELY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT AS THE TRUCK WILL DRIFT THE MOMENT THE STEERING WHEEL IS RELEASED. I HAD ORIGINALLY BEEN TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS THE WAY THE TRUCK WAS DESIGNED TO RESPOND. NOW FINALLY THEY ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM. KEEPING CONSTANT PRESSURE ON THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSES ME TO SUFFER FROM PAIN IN MY ARM AFTER A LONG DRIVING TRIP. IT ALSO CAUSES GREAT FATIGUE AND I AM AFRAID TO LET ANYONE ELSE DRIVE THE VEHICLE.*AK
WENT TO DEALER IN AM ABOUT CLUTCH PROBLEMS, DEALER LOOKED AT TRUCK, SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. LEFT DEALER WAS COMING UP TO INTERSECTION, WENT TO DOWN SHIFT, CLUTCH WENT OUT AND BRAKES. HAD NO BRAKES OR CLUTCH! WAS TOWED TO DEALER. HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBEMS SINCE WITH EMERG. BRAKE NOT WORKING. WAS TOWED AGAIN 4/19/2002 WAS PULLING FORWARD CLUTCH WOULD NOT DISENGAGE ALMOST HIT 3 MAIL BOXES AND STONE WALL.*AK
TIRES ARE WEARING EXCESSIVLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TREAD. THE FRONT TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES AND THE REAR TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. THE DEALER CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM.*JB
AT INTERSTATE SPEED VALVE STEM CAME OUT OF LF TIRE, FOLLOWED SHORTLY THERE AFTER BY ALL THE AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS SAFELY STOPPED AND THERE WAS NO FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE OR WHEEL. THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS DAMAGE AT AN EARLIER TIME TO THE VALVE STEM. UPON REPLACEMENT OF TIRE AND STEM, THE BACK PIECE OF THE STEM WAS INSIDE THE TIRE. NEXT WEEK THE 5 REMAINING VALVE STEMS ON THE FORD F350 DUALLY WILL BE REPLACED, BECAUSE IT WAS A PECULIAR FAILURE TO SAY THE LEAST. I HOPE ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS THIS EXPERIENCE IS AS LUCKY AS WE WERE.*AK (TIRESIZE: 235/85/16)
DANGER!!! WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THERE IS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND AS A RESULT THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WHERE A DRIVER MAYBE REQUIRED TO STEP ON THE BRAKES AND TURN TO AVOID AN ONCOMING CAR. FROM READING THE FORD-DIESEL WEBSITE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED BOTH TO FORD AND NHTSA BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO ACTION TAKEN BY EITHER PARTIES. FORD TELLS THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT THIS IS NORMAL. PLEASE DON'T WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO GET HURT AND TAKE IMMEDIATE CORRECTIVE ACTION. THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WHICH IS A SITTING TIME BOMB AND AS DANGEROUS AS HAVING BAD TIRES. BECAUSE EVERY FORD TRUCK HAS THIS PROBLEM IT DOES NOT GIVE FORD THE RIGHT TO SAY IT IS NORMAL AND THEIR IS NOTHING WRONG. I WILL AWAIT A RESPONSE FROM YOU BEFORE GOING TO THE FORD DEALER. DEALERSHIP SOLD A VEHICLE WITH A SPEED CONTROL THAT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH A SEMI-TRACTOR . DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT SPEED WAS GOVERNED ,AND CANNOT BE REMOVED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

BRAKE CABLE ON LEFT/REAR SIDE OF VEHICLE IS RUBBING AGAINST FRAME AND IS CHAFING THE CABLE. DEALERSHIP EXAMINED VEHICLE, AND PLACED A PIECE OF HOSE OVER THE CABLE TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM FROM OCCURRING. HOSE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF CHAFING FROM CONTACT WITH FRAME OF VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. ONE PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT WOULD NOT UNLATCH AND RESULTED IN ASPHYXIATION. *NM ONE OF THE PASSENGERS IN THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS KILLED. WHILE SETTING STILL WITHOUT BRAKES YOU CAN NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL, AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE TRUCK IS COLD THERE IS NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. THIS IS DIFFERENT TO THE OTHER PROBLEM WITH WHILE ON THE BRAKES MOVING SLOWLY YOU CAN NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL UNTILL YOU START TO MOVE ALITTLE FASTER. ALL OF THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN YOU CAN TURN OR NOT .*AK
THE TRUCK WILL NOT START RIGHT AWAY ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT. IT GRINDS NUMEROUS TIMES THEN STARTS. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP A TOTAL OF 6 DAYS SINCE I'VE HAD IT. AT WHICH TIME I EITHER HAVE TO RENT MY OWN RIG TO GET TO WORK OR WALK 7 MILES EACH WAY. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN CONTACTED 3 TIMES. THEY SAY THAT UNTIL IT "QUITS RUNNING" THEY CAN DO NOTHING. I INTERPUT THAT TO MEAN POTENTIALLY WHEN I HAVE AN ACCIDENT, WE'LL DO SOMETHING.
WHILE DRIVING ON A WELL MARKED AND WELL USED DIRT/ROCK BACKROAD AT 10-20 MPH, THE LEFT REAR TIRE SUDDENLY FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY. THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE SIDEWALLS AND THE INNER SIDEWALL WRAPPED ITSELF AROUND THE AXEL SEVERING THE FLEXIBLE RUBBER HYDRAULIC BRAKE HOSE. TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING UPON BRAKING. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN ROAD, DRIVER ENTERED INTO CURVE AND HAD NO STEERING, THEREFORE LEAVING THE ROAD AND HITTING A TREE. AFTER INSPECTION WAS COMPLETED IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A COMPLETE BREAK IN STEERING SHAFT, THUS CAUSING THE ACCIDENT.*AK

VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AT IDLE FOR 30 MINUTES WHEN ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE. FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
I REPORTED AIR BAG READINESS LIGHT ON DASH WAS ON TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 4/3/2001 AND BROUGHT TRUCK IN TO SERVICE ON 4/4/2001 I WAS TOLD THAT A SENSOR ON THE ABS SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING AND THAT WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT OPERATE I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE TRUCK HAD A RECALL AND PARTS WERE NOT IN STOCK I SHOULD BRING IT BACK IN 3 DAYS . MY WIFE CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD HER THEY MAILED NOTICES ON MARCH 8TH 2001 ABOUT THE RECALL THEY DID NOT ADMIT THAT THEIR WAS A FAILURE IN THE SENSORS!!!
