DT: THREE OF THE 6 TIRES BLEW OUT. TWO ON THE FRONT AND ONE ON THE REAR. CONTACTED GENERAL TIRES ,THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND A FORM TO FILL OUT. FIRST THE FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT AND ABOUT 50 FEET FURTHER THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT. THE SIDEWALLS WERE STILL INTACT. THE FRONT TWO BLEW OUT ON JULY 9,2005, THE REAR BLEW OUT ON JULY 19, 2005. *AK THE BLOWOUTDS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE
DT: 1 MONTH AGO TOOK HCAR ON A TRIP AND THE BACK LEFT TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. GOT IT FIXED. YESTERDAY THE RIGHT BACK TIRE SEPARATED.THE TIRES ONLY HAD 28,000 MILES ON THEM.*AK
CONSUMER STATES: 3 TIMES NOW, THE STARTER BURNED UP WHILE SETTING IN THE GARAGE AND THE WIRING BURNT OUT IN THE STARTER. AFTER CONSUMER HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE, WHEN YOU COME BACK OUT, YOU CAN SMELL BURNT WIRING. DEALER CAN NOT PIN POINT THE PROBLEM. THE STARTER IS ENGAGING WHEN THERE ARE NO KEYS IN THE IGNITION. *TT
1.ON MARCH 24, 2005 I STARTED MY 2002 FORD 350 TRUCK AND DROVE ABOUT 15' WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK DIED. UPON TRYING TO START IT AGAIN SEVERAL PEOPLE CAME OVER TO TELL ME FLAMES WERE SHOOTING DOWN ON THE GROUND FROM THE ENGINE. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE FLAMES HAD STOPPED SHORTLY THEREAFTER. 2.I HAD JUST RECENTLY HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED ON 2.21.05 KNOWING I WAS DRIVING TO TEXAS I HAD THEM CHECK EVERYTHING AS WELL AS WHATEVER MILEAGE MAINTENANCE THAT WAS DUE. MILEAGE AT SERVICE DATE WAS 51,304. EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT FINE. 3.MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE FIVE STAR FORD DEALERSHIP IN FORT WORTH TEXAS.THEY HAVE NOT REPORTED THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE OR DAMAGE INCURRED TO THE TRUCK AS OF YET. UPON READING ALL THE FORD FIRE REPORTS I AM DISGUSTED AT THE DENIAL FROM FORD. THIS IS AN EXTREME PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE TOO MANY PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRE WAS CHANGED, AND THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE. NO RECALLS FOUND.
OCTOBER 5, 2004 A FAIRFAX COUNTY VEHICLE # 6382, 2002 FORD F350 WAS INVOLVED IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT THAT RESULTED IN THE POSSIBLE INJURY OF A PREGNANT FEMALE. THE FEMALE DRIVER STOPPED FOR A FAST TRAN BUS AND THE DRIVER OF THE COUNTY VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO STOP AND AS HE TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT THE VEHICLE KEPT GOING STRAIGHT AND STRUCK THE CAR IN FRONT. THE STEERING SHAFT BROKE AND IT WAS LATER CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE STEERING SHAFT SECTOR THAT BROKE.
CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP DUE TO LOSS OF POWER AND UNKNOWN TICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. THIS HAD BEEN A PROBLEM TWICE SINCE THE 3,000 MILE CHECKUP. DEALERSHIP CLEANED THE ENGINE, AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP STATES NOISE WAS NORMAL, AND SHOULD NOT AFFECT THE ENGINE'S PERFORMANCE. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE BLEW OUT. ANOTHER MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE ENGINE, AND FOUND THE SPARK PLUGS WERE IMPROPERLY INSTALLED. CONSUMER WAS AWARE OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA'S WEBSITE. *AK THE CONUMER STATED THAT THE EXHAUST SOUNDED LIKE IT HAD A LEAK. *TC
CONSUMER PRESSED DOWN ON THE ELECTRICAL BUTTON BUT WINDOW FAILED TO ROLL UP OR DOWN. IT HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW JAMMED AND WILL NOT MOVE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
CONSUMER LOST HER HUSBAND AFTER THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM DISENGAGED AND RAN OVER HIM ON HIS 2002 FORD F350. *NJ THE CONSUMER WAS ATTEMPTING TO TOW ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER HAD PLANNED TO DRIVE UP A STREET RAMP TO THE STREET. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO MAKE THE TURN ON THE RAMP WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE ATTACHED. IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE TOW, THE CONSUMER ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE WITH HIS TOW TRUCK IN NEUTRAL, ENGAGED THE POWER TAKE OFF AND LOWERED THE VEHICLE BEING TOWED TO THE GROUND. A FEW SECONDS AFTER THE TOWED VEHICLE HAD BEEN REMOVED, THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL. THE CONSUMER WAS FOUND UNDER HIS TOW TRUCK. THE CAUSE OF DEATH WAS DECLARED AS MECHANICAL ASPHYXIATION. EXPERTS CONDUCTED EXTENSIVE INSPECTIONS AND CONCLUDED THE PARKING BRAKE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE LOCK PINION IN THE PARKING BRAKE CONTROLLER WAS CAPABLE OF SKIPPING OUT OF PLACE AT ITS POINT OF ENGAGEMENT WITH THE LOCK SECTOR STOP, WHICH CREATED SLACK IN THE REAR BRAKE CABLES. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS MISSING SEVERAL FEATURES WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE CONSUMERS DEATH, INCLUDING A SELF ADJUSTING DRUM IN HAT ASSEMBLY, A MORE ROBUST BUMP STOP, MORE ROBUST PINION TEETH, A COLLAR TO SECURE THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE PINION AND THE SECTOR AND AN ENCAPSULATED TAKE UP SPRING. *JB
THE SPARE TIRE RACK BOLTS SNAPPED, CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE TO FALL IN TRAFFIC WHILE IN VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT 2002 FORD F350 STALLED AND ACCELERATED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ON. THE TRUCK STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES A WEEK. ACCELERATION WAS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS AT A STOP LIGHT. THIS WAS HAPPENING FOR A YEAR. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT HAD THE TRUCK CHECKED NOR INSPECTED IN THE YEAR THAT HE WAS HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE CONSUMER SAID THAT HE WOULD TAKE THE TRUCK SOMETIME NEXT WEEK FOR CHECKUP. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED FORD. THE VEHICLE WAS STALLING AT LOW SPEEDS 0-20 MPH. *AK
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH. WHEN THE DRIVER STARTED UP THE VEHICLE A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE STEERING BOX NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO WORN PARTS. THE DRIVER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THIS PART HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *LA
BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK, FAILED VEHICLE ROLLED WITHOUT DEPRESSING BRAKE PETAL. FAILURE RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF IAN JOSEPH CAMPBELL 4/14/04 NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT PROBLEM. *NM
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE STEERING LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NO FIX. *JB A SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGE WAS SENT OUT WHICH STATED INCREASED STEERING EFFORT AT LOW SPEED OR WHILE STOPPED WAS A NORMAL CONDITION WITH HYDROBOOST OR VACUUM OPERATED BRAKES. *JB
THE CONSUMER WAS PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY WHEN HE ENGAGED THE CLUTCH, THE CLUTCH WENT TO THE FLOOR, BECAME STUCK AND CONTINUED TO GOING FORWARD. THE CONSUMER COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AS HARD AS POSSIBLE. THE CONSUMER THEN GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND PULLED THE CLUTCH WITH HIS HANDS AND THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS A FLUKE. THE CONSUMER CONTINUED DOWN THE HIGHWAY SHIFTING THE GEAR WITH NO PROBLEM UNTIL HE HAD COME TO A STOP, WAITING ON THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN INTERSECTION. *MR *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING/BRAKING LOW SPEEDS, THE CONSUMER CAN HEAR/SEE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES DRAGGING/SQUEAKING NOISE. THE DEALERSHIPS MECHANIC INFORM THE CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS PERTAINING TO THE BRAKE CALIPER BOLT FAILURE , BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION
WHILE COMING TO A STOP ACCELERATED TO A HIGH RATE. CONSUMER MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK DEALER INSTALLED A FLIGHT RECORDER WHICH WAS BORROWED FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. WITH THE FLIGHT RECORDER INSTALLED, CONSUMER DIDN'T EXPERIENCE ANY INCIDENT FOR 4 WEEKS. THE DEALER THEN CALLED THE CONSUMER STATING THAT THE FLIGHT RECORDER HAD TO BE RETURNED, AND CONSUMER'S VEHICLE AGAIN MALFUNCTIONED 3 TIMES. *LA
WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A GUARDRAIL HEAD ON. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH DOWN A HIGH WAY, THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION, AT FIRST THE CONSUMER THOUGHT THERE WAS A TIRE BLOW OUT. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED THE CONSUMER SAW THE AXLE HAD EXPLODED AND WAS ON FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES IN THIS INCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *JB *JB

I HAVE A 2002 FORD F-350. I HAVE JUST HAD TO REPLACE MY ALTERNATOR FOR THE SECOND TIME. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO TO HELP WITH THE COSTS AT THIS TIME. IT IS A PART THAT SHOULD LAST MANY YEARS AND FOR ME TO BE ON MY THIRD WITH A TRUCK THIS NEW MEANS TO ME THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE DEALER DID TELL ME THAT THEY WERE REPLACING A LOT OF THEM. I HAVE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK. I KEPT HAVING HIGH PRESSURE OIL LINE PROBLEMS UNTIL THE BLOCK CRACKED AND THEY REPLACED THE MOTOR. *LA

THE SERVICE DEALER REPLACED THE MISSING ONE WITH A USED ONE FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUE TO SMOKE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *NM

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLED IN DRIVE OR IN REVERSE. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER EIGHT TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME DEALER EXAMINES THE VEHICLE, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK WHEN VEHICLE STALLED, THIS CAUSED CONSUMER TO LOOSE POWER STEERING AND SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT TO TAKE PLACE. CONSUMER SUFFERED SEVER PAIN IN NECK AND BACK. EXPERT'S AUTOMOTIVE REPORT FROM NEXTECH EVALUATED THAT VEHICLE HAS EXECESSIVE EFFORT REQUIRED TO TURN STEERING WHEEL. CONDITION OCCURS WHEN THE ENGINE IS AT IDLE SPEED, WITH ACCESSORIES OPERATING AND VEHICLE IS IN GEAR, FORWARD OR REVERSE. PROBLEM APPEARED TO LESSEN WHEN ENGINE'S RPM INCREASED. ALSO, THE STALLING OF THE VEHICLE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULT IN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. *LA

DURING RAINY WEATHER TRAVELING AT 70 MPH, THE BACKWASH FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE COVERED CONSUMERS WINDSHIELD. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACTIVATE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, IT SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING CAUSING ZERO VISIBILITY. DEALER FOUND A LOOSE FUSE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILED AGAIN CAUSING DRIVER TO HIT THE SIDEWALK. DEALER DAIGNOSED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AS FAULTY AND REPLACED. *TT

THE POLICE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A MECHANICAL FAILURE ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE ROLLOVER CRASH DESTROYED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 10,000.

MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH ON HIS WAY TO TAKE THE FORD F350 WHICH WAS PURCHASED ON 2-11-02 TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BECAUSE IT WASN'T RUNNING RIGHT. ABOUT 1.5 MILES FROM HOME, FLAMES SHOT OUT OF THE DEFROSTER VENT INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, WENT OVER HIS HEAD AND THEN THE SMOKE GOT REALLY BAD. HE HAD ENOUGH TIME TO OPEN THE DOOR, KEEP ONE FOOT ON THE RUNNING BOARD AND ONE ON THE BRAKE TO TRY NOT TO LET THE TRUCK AND TRAILER HE WAS TOWING JACKKNIFE. THE AIRBAG THE BLEW HIS HAND OFF OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE TRUCK BURNED. THE TRUCK WAS BURNING AND SMOKING AS HE WAS TRYING TO STOP IT. HE COULDN'T SEE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AT ALL DURING THIS TIME. HE WAS WATCHING THE LINE ON THE ROAD SO HE KNEW WHERE HE WAS AT. HE WAS ABLE TO GRAB 3 THINGS OUT OF THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND AS A PASSERBY CALLED 911, THEY WATCHED THE ENTIRE TRUCK BURN. THE FRONT TIRES BLEW OFF AND THE RIMS MELTED TO THE GROUND. ALL THAT IS LEFT OF THE VEHICLE IS METAL AND THE REAR TIRES AND REAR AXLE. WE HAVE PICTURES IF YOU WANT TO LOOK AT THEM. WE LOST EVERYTHING INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WE'VE BEEN TOLD OF 2 POSSIBLE CAUSES, BUT THERE ISN'T ANYTHING LEFT TO EVEN TRY TO HELP DETERMINE THE CAUSE. AS STATED EARLIER, THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAD 1700 MILES ON IT AND IT WAS ONLY 11 DAYS OLD. *AK
VEHICLE WANDERS LEFT AND RIGHT WITH NO HANDLING CONTROL. VEHICLE CONSTANTLY HAS TO BE COUNTER STEERED JUST TO KEEP STRAIGHT. VHEICLE WAS A DEALER FOUR TIMES FOR THE PROBLEM. *AK
ENGINE MISSFIRES AND LOSES POWER AT ENGINE RPMS OF 1400-1600 LIGHT THROTTLE. *AK
WITHIN FIRST 60 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE, VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE THUMPING NOISE IN FLOORBOARD AFTER START OF ENGINE, AFTER CONTINUED OPERATION OF VEHICLE OUT OF NECESSITY IT BEGAN TO HAVE FRONT END VIBRATIONS AT 70 MPH AS WELL AS A VIBRATION DURING SLOW SPEED SHARP TURNS. I AM CURRENTLY UNABLE TO TAKE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED DUE TO LACK OF A SECOND VEHICLE (SEE ODI# 757078). ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE FROM DEALERSHIP (JACK ROACH FORD HOUSTON TX) WHO CONTACTED REGIONAL REP. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT THE REP WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE I HAVE A VEHICLE (ODI# 757078) THAT IS AVAILABLE TO ME. PROBLEM IS UNRESOLVED DUE TO MY REQUIREMENT FOR TRANSPORTATION AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE'S VINDICATIVE EFFORTS DUE TO ODI# 757078. *AK
