MY BOYFRIEND WENT OUT TO START MY CAR UP AND WARM IT UP FOR ME... IT WOULD TURN OVER...THEN AFTER TRYING AGAIN IT STARTED. I WENT OUT TO GO TO WORK AND WENT TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE. I THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE AND MOVED UP A LITTLE AND THEN PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO PUT IT IN DRIVE AGAIN IT WOULD GO ANY WHERE.IT WAS LIKE THE GEAR GO STUCK. I HAD TO HAVE MY BOYFRIEND PUSH MY CAR BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY.I THEN CALLED JONES JUNCTION WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED INTO THEIR SHOP BECAUSE I HAD COVERAGE ON IT FOR REPAIR FOR THEM TO CALL ME AND SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. I DID SOME RESEARCH MYSELF AND FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE 2011 FORD FIESTA TRANSMISSION ELECTRONIC CONTROLS . I'M FURIOUS THAT ANY DEALER WOULD INFORM ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND BECAUSE NO REPAIRS WERE BEING DONE I HAD A TOWING BILL OF 185.00. I WAS STUCK OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ON A ICY DAY AND COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE GEARS LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT GO IN DRIVE.I HOPE AND WISH THAT FORD WILL RESOLVE THIS MATTER ON THESE CARS BEFORE IT CAUSES A INJURY OR A SOMEONE'S LIFE. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE FORD DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING.THANK YOU *TR
TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR OIL CHANGE AROUND 30K MILES, TECH CALLED ME BACK TO SHOW ME OIL LEAK. FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND OIL LEAKING FROM HEAD GASKET AND CRANK SHAFT CAPS. EVERYTHING REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. 10K-15K MILES LATER SAME ISSUE HAPPENS AGAIN. EVERYTHING FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AGAIN. FEW THOUSAND MILES LATER MY WIFE BACKS OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND THERE IS A PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE CAR AGAIN. I GOT RID OF THE CAR BEFORE FAILURE AGAIN AND WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. CAR ALWAYS HANDLED WELL, GREAT GAS MILEAGE. TERRIBLE ACCELERATION AND QUIRKY TRANSMISSION. *TR
2011 FORD FIESTA AKA BLACK TURD OF DEATH. 5 TIMES IN THE DEALER FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. BAD SHUTTERING ON TAKE OFF. STARTED AT 18,253 MILES AND NOW AT 45,015 STILL DOES IT. WORSE WHEN TURNING CAUSE IT WILL TRY AND STALL OUT. GAS PEDAL IS NOT RESPONSIVE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE. THAT I NEED TO GET USED TO IT. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED DIDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN FLASHED 5 TIMES. BUT NEVER TEST DRIVEN AFTERWARD. JUST TOLD IT WAS NORMAL. UNIVERSITY FORD WILL NOT EVEN GIVE ME COPIES OF MY PAPERWORK. SAID IT WAS IN THE MAIL.
THE RIGHT REAR DOOR ON OUR 2011 FORD FIESTA WILL NOT LATCH. THE LATCHING MECHANISM HAS FAILED AND WILL NOT ENGAGE. I AM USING BUNGIE CORDS TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED UNTIL I CAN REPLACE THE LATCH. WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY ACTED AS IF THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT COMMON. *TR
WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER I STARTED HAVING SHATTERING WHEN I WOULD START FROM A STOP. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO TELL ME IT WAS THE NORMAL. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED FOR A COUPLE MORE MONTHS AND GOT WORSE. AS THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE IT BECAME MORE THAN SHATTERING IT SEEMED LIKE THE CAR WAS SLIPPING AND JUMPING. I THEN TOOK IT BACK AND THEY TOLD ME MY COMPUTER NEEDED UPDATED. THEY UPDATED MY COMPUTER AND A WEEK LATER MY CAR STARTED AGAIN AND IT WAS WORSE. THEY REPLACED MY CLUTCH. I HAD THAT FIXED A ABOUT 10,000 TO 15,000 MILES AGO. NOW MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS WILL BE MY SECOND TIME HAVING THE CLUTCH REPLACED. THIS SEEMS UNFAIR TO THE BUYER, BECAUSE AT THE RATE IT IS GOING I WILL HAVE TO HAVE MY CLUTCH REPLACED EVERY 25,000 MILES. AS A CONSUMER FORD NEEDS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSIONS OR RECALL ALL OF THE DEFECTIVE ONES. HOW CAN FORD GET AWAY WITH IT AND CHEVY HAVING TO PAY FOR ALL OF THERE MISTAKES. *TR
IN PARKING LOT, TURNED CAR ON AND INTO REVERSE, CAR WOULD NOT GO ANYWHERE, TRIED DRIVE AND COULDN'T GO ANYWHERE EVEN WITH INCREASED ACCELERATION. TURNED OFF CAR AND BACK ON AGAIN, AGAIN SAME TYPE OF THINGS HAPPENED. TOOK ME 4 TIMES TO TURN OFF CAR AND BACK ON AGAIN BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GO INTO REVERSE TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT. MY "SYNC" DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING WAS WRONG. *TR
MY VEHICLE HAS HAD A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION THAT SHUTTERS, STUTTERS, AND RATTLES UPON TAKE-OFF. THERE ARE MANY TIMES THAT IT WILL BARELY MOVE WHEN VEHICLES BEHIND ME ARE COMING TOWARD ME. I HAVE TO REALLY STEP ON THE GAS TO GET MOVING, AND EVEN THEN IT USUALLY DOESN'T ACCELERATE FAST ENOUGH. EVERY TIME I GET INTO MY CAR, I COULD GET REAR ENDED. THIS PROBLEM IS ONLY GETTING WORSE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2013.
LACK OF POWER; GRINDING NOISE AT AROUND 20-30MPH;SHUDDERING; ACCELERATION SLIPS; ENGINE OIL LEAKS; CLUNKING NOISES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED AFTER PARKING VEHICLE. DOOR TIED SHUT. NEVER REPAIRED DUE TO HIGH DEALER COST. *TR
VEHICLE HAS THE ALL TOO COMMON "LEAKY SEALS" AT THE CLUTCHES ON THE TRANNY. HAD CONTACTED FORD PRIOR-WAS TOLD THAT THE SHUDDERING AND ROUGH SHIFT WAS NORMAL. LITTLE DID I KNOW IT WAS FAILING. THE SEALS HAVE FAILED, CAUSED OIL/FLUID TO GET ONTO THE CLUTCHES. FORD PULLED TRANNY APART, TWICE, PUT BACK TOGETHER AND CAR SHUTTERS SO BAD THEY REFUSE TO RETURN IT TO ME. CLAIM "TOO UNSAFE TO RETURN TO YOU". FORD THEN INSTRUCTED DEALER TO "ORDER NEW REPLACEMENT PARTS (3RD TIME) AND REPLACE-THE REPLACEMENT PARTS USED MUST HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE." BEFORE PARTS ARRIVED, FORD CANCELLED ORDER. INFORMED ME "THERE IS NO REPAIR AVAILABLE FOR THIS ISSUE. THERE IS FIESTA AND FOCUS'S HELD UP AT DEALERSHIPS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. WE CAN PUT YOU IN A RENTAL FOR 6 TO 8 WEEKS AND HOPEFULLY IN THAT TIME FORD WILL FIGURE OUT A WAY TO FIX THIS ISSUE." I ASKED FORD WHY THEY DON'T REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WITH A NEW ONE, WAS TOLD "NO, THE NEW ONES HAVE THE SAME DEFECT AND THEY TOO WILL FAIL AS WELL. FORD HAS HAD MY CAR SINCE MID OCTOBER 2013.....CURRENTLY NO FIX AVAIL......LEMON LAW VEHICLE! *TR
REFERRING TO PREVIOUS COMPLAINT #10546964, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR EXAMINATION AND REPAIR AFTER OPENING CASE # WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND REFERENCING RESEARCH THAT POINTS TO A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH FIESTAS. SHOP HAD VEHICLE FOR THREE DAYS AND REPORTED A REPAIR HAD BEEN COMPLETED, A COMPUTER "UPDATE." CAR WAS RETRIEVED AND AFTER 30 MILES OF DRIVING +/- SAME PROBLEM RETURNED WHEN TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING AND NO GEAR COULD BE FOUND. TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF WAS NOT EASILY DONE AND ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR. ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ON A TWO LANE ROAD WITH NO EMERGENCY LANE SO VEHICLE WAS STOPPED ON US 321 WITH NO IMMEDIATE WAY TO MOVE IT TO A SAFE AREA. SINCE IT WAS AFTER 8:00 P.M. TRAFFIC WAS MINIMAL. WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED FINALLY, WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT HOME BY NOT GOING OVER 30 MPH. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT DOES NOT SEEM ISOLATED TO THIS ONE CAR. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN MY POSSESSION FOR LESS THAN ONE MONTH. THE RECOMMENDED FIX, AT OVER $100, DID NOT RESULT IN ANY RESOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM. THERE APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FIESTA TRANSMISSION AND THE COMMUNICATION IT RECEIVES FROM THE COMPUTER RENDERING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY IMMOBILIZED AND UNABLE TO FUNCTION. *TR
THIS PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED AFTER HAVING CAR FOR LESS THAN 6 MONTHS. TOWED TO DEALER FOR WARRANTY WORK AND THE SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. YESTERDAY, WAS TRAVELING AND, AS BEFORE, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL (GEAR INDICATOR ON DASHBOARD LOOKED LIKE A SLOT MACHINE) AND WHEN I COASTED TO A STOP (MORE THAN ONCE ON A TWO LANE ROAD WITH NO EMERGENCY LANE), IT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. AFTER TURNING ENGINE OFF, IT THEN HAD TROUBLE STARTING, AND WHEN IT DID RE-ENGAGE INTO GEAR, IT WOULD RANDOMLY GO OUT OF GEAR AND WE "LIMPED" HOME GOING LESS THAN 25 MILES AN HOUR HAVING TO STOP A HALF DOZEN TIMES HOPING THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION WOULD RE-ENGAGE LONG ENOUGH FOR US TO GET HOME. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE IT WOULD DISENGAGE AT ANY RATE OF SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO GEAR EVEN ONCE I STOPPED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. IN THE RURAL AREA WHERE WE RESIDE, THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE TIME WHEN IT DISENGAGED, WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO GEAR, ON A CURVE OF A TWO-LANE ROAD WITH NO EMERGENCY LANE. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THE FIESTA HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS SINCE 2011 WHEN MY PROBLEMS FIRST BEGAN. IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT APPEARS TO BE SYSTEMIC TO THE VEHICLE IN MANY CASES. AT THIS POINT, IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
I WAS PARKED IN A FRIENDS DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. THE RADIO AND LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD ALL WORKED BUT WHEN TURN THE KEY THERE WAS ALL KINDS OF CLICKING NOISE AND FLASHING LIGHTS. EVEN AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED YOU COULD HEAR ALL KINDS OF MECHANICAL NOISE GOING ON UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAR STARTED AFTER ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE JUMPED IT, SO I THOUGHT I WAS GOOD TO GO. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THOUGHT I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY WHEN IN ALL REALITY I WAS JUST COASTING BECAUSE WHEN I GOT DOWN THE INCLINE PART AND APPLIED THE GAS PEDAL THE RPMS WOULD GO UP BUT THE CAR DIDN'T MOVE. I TRIED TO GO FORWARD AND COULD NOT. I COULD PHYSICALLY SHIFT THE CAR INTO GEAR BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE, EVEN IF I FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL IT JUST REVVED THE ENGINE. I HAD TO THEN CALL A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEREFORE THERE WAS NO REPAIR MADE NOR DID THEY TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT BC THEY SAID IT RAN TO SPECIFICATIONS. I AM CONCERNED WITH BEING STRANDED TRAFFIC AND NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE AND BEING A SITTING DUCK JUST WAITING TO GET HIT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THANKFULLY NON HAVE PUT ME IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION, BUT I DO NOT DEEM THIS VEHICLE RELIABLE, I DO NOT DEEM FORD CAPABLE OF FIXING IT AND I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED HAVING A CAR THAT CANT BE FIXED. *TR
THE ENGINE STALLED THE FIRST TIME TWO DAYS AGO ON 9/27/2013. THE CAR SHUT OFF ON THE ROAD AND I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR. ALSO IT SHAKES WHEN YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THIS HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED. YESTERDAY WHILE I WAS GOING OVER A BRIDGE THE CAR STALLED SO BAD THAT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL TO GO OVER THE BRIDGE, THE RPM GAUGE WIGGLED VERY BAD BACK AND FORTH AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLIDE BACK DOWN THE BRIDGE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO FORD AND THEY CLAIM THIS IS HOW THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO ACT. I LIVE IN JACKSONVILLE, FL AND BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN GETTING ON AND OFF RAMPS ONTO THE INTERSTATE IS CRUCIAL WHEN MERGING WITH TRAFFIC BUT IF THE CAR STALLS AND DOES NOT ACTUALLY MOVE AND YOU ARE TRYING TO YIELD AND MERGE WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC, ANYONE CAN SEE THAT THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD AND VERY DANGEROUS. MY NEXT STEP IS TO FILE A LEMON LAW LAWSUIT AND GET FORD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THEY WILL ARE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHILE IT IS IN THEIR REPAIR SHOP AND THEREFORE WILL NOT FIX IT. MY BEST FRIEND HAS THE SAME CAR AND COMPLAINS ABOUT THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. HER CAR SHUTS OFF SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK SO SHE IS GOING TO ALSO FILE A COMPLAINT. BEFORE I PURCHASED THIS CAR I HAD A OLD BEAT UP 1995 FORD RANGER AND I NEVER HAD THESE ISSUES. I HAVE BEEN TO FORD OVER 3 TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY CONTINUE TO SAY "SIR THIS IS HOW THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO ACT" EVEN THE RECEPTIONIST STATED WHEN I CALLED TO SET UP YET ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO HAVE FORD LOOK AT THE CAR "WOW... THAT DOES SEEM VERY DANGEROUS WE NEED TO GET YOU IN HERE ASAP" THIS IS NOT THE ONLY INCIDENT I HAVE HAD WITH FORD.. I WILL NOT EVEN STRESS ON THAT ISSUE. HOWEVER THIS ONE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME DUE TO THE FACT I DO NOT EVEN FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR TO THE LOCAL STORE. *TR
SEPTEMBER 2013- WHINING/GRINDING NOISE IN CAR. NOTHING FOUND. ALL 4 TIRES REPLACED (WAS TOLD THE SOUND WAS THE TIRES). SOUND WAS STILL THERE AFTER TIRES WERE PUT ON. WAS TOLD IT WAS "NORMAL". FEBRUARY 2014- TRANSMISSION WHINE, GRINDING NOISE, CAR SHUDDERS WHEN CHANGING GEARS. FORD REPLACED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY (FIRST CLUTCH REPLACEMENT). MAY 2014- GRINDING NOISE IN CAR. FORD CHECKED THE WHEELS, NOTHING FOUND. JULY 2014- TRANSMISSION WHINE, GRINDING NOISE, SHUDDERS IN BETWEEN GEARS. FORD REPLACED CLUTCH (SECOND CLUTCH REPLACEMENT). ALSO, GAS TANK WAS SLOW TO FILL. FORD REPLACED GAS TANK. AUGUST 2014- GAS STILL SLOW TO FILL. FORD ADJUSTED FILLER NECK. OCTOBER 2014- CAR OVERHEATED, STRANDED ME AT A GAS STATION. HAD TO GET CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. FORD REPLACED COOLING FAN. FEBRUARY 2015- REPLACED SERPENTINE BELT (BELIEVE THIS WAS DAMAGED WHEN CAR WAS HIT ON THE INTERSTATE BY A CRATE THAT FLEW OUT OF A TRUCK 2 MONTHS PRIOR. INSURANCE COVERED REPAIRS AT THE TIME, BUT BELIEVE THE DAMAGES TO THIS BELT WAS MISSED.) APRIL 2015- TRANSMISSION WHINE, GRINDING NOISE, SHUDDERS WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. FORD REPLACED CLUTCH ASSEMBLY (THIRD CLUTCH REPLACEMENT). TOOK 2 MONTHS FOR PARTS TO COME IN BECAUSE THEY WERE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. AC WAS ALSO NOT COOLING. FORD REPLACED THE RT VALVE. THE CAR NOW HAS 125K MILES ON IT AND OUR WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT. CALLED FORD THIS WEEK TO LAUNCH A COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE BECAUSE THE WARRANT WAS OUT (WARRANTY WAS GOOD THRU 125K MILES). THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS NOT A RECALL ITEM YET. THIS TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED AND ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALMOST HIT BECAUSE OF THE CAR STALLING. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE GETS KILLED TO RECALL SOMETHING???
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED WITH 35000 MILES ON IT. THE FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS WHEN STARTING OR STOPPING THE CAR WOULD SHUDDER, LIKE IT WAS GRIPPING AND COULDN'T CATCH A GEAR. I NORMALLY DRIVE HWY, AND I NOTICE NO PROBLEMS WHEN GOING ABOVE 45MPH. HOWEVER I WAS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND I THOUGHT THE CAR WAS GOING TO STALL ON ME NUMEROUS TIME, IT WOULD SHAKE AND MAKE GRINDING SOUNDS. THIS CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC AND I THOUGHT I WAS DRIVING A MANUAL, THAT'S WHAT IT FELT LIKE, LIKE I DIDN'T HAVE THE CLUTCH IN AND WAS COMING TO A STOP. WELL ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO WHEN I WAS PULLING UP TO A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR STALLED COMPLETELY. JUST TURNED OFF, AND IT REALLY SCARED ME. SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS STALLED 3 TIMES, EACH TIME AS I AM COMING TO A STOP. I TOOK IT IN AFTER EACH TIME IT STALLED AND I AM TOLD THAT SINCE NO CHECK LIGHTS CAME ON THERE IS NO WAY THEY CAN DIAGNOSE ANYTHING. I MENTIONED THE SHUDDERING AS WELL, AND THEY GAVE ME A PRINT OUT WITH THE "USUAL" FEELINGS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION THAT IS ON MY CAR. I AM PISSED AND VERY DISSATISFIED, I LOVE THIS CAR, THE LOOK, THE INTERIOR, THE ELECTRONIC UPGRADES ARE AWESOME BUT THESE ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION ARE MISERABLE. I AM SCARED DRIVING MY CAR. I JUST WANT FORD TO RECOGNIZE THIS PROBLEM AND HELP US OUT. WE ARE BUYING THEIR PRODUCT, YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD FIX THESE ISSUES. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2011 FORD FIESTA BASICALLY WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT, BRAND NEW.BUT, JUST PRIOR TO THE 10,000 MILE MARK I STARTED EXPERIENCING SEVERE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, SHUDDERING, STALLING OUT, AND EVENTUALLY OVERALL FAILURE. ALL OF THESE FAILING HAPPENED EITHER UPON TAKING OFF OR DURING TRANSIT. I'VE HAD THE CAR LURCH AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR IN TRAFFIC AS WELL AS FAIL WHILE DRIVING DURING RUSH OUR TRAFFIC; PREDOMINANTLY ON CITY STREETS BUT ALSO OCCASIONALLY ON THE HIGHWAY AT LOWER SHIFTS. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN "FIXED" AND "ASSESSED" MORE TIMES THAN I BELIEVE AND CAR PROBLEM SHOULD BE WITHOUT BEING RESOLVED. EVERY TIME I WOULD DISCUSS WHY IT CONTINUES THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WOULD ALWAYS SAY "THAT'S JUST HOW THEY WORK" OR SOME OTHER NONCHALANT VERBAGE TO SHRUG OFF THE PERSISTING PROBLEM THAT I'M PAYING FOR. THIS CONTINUED TROUBLE LEAVES ME WITH ALMOST NO TRUST IN MY VEHICLE AND HAS COST ME MORE MONEY THAN I WOULD CARE TO ADMIT TO. WHILE DRIVING THE EXPRESSWAY AT ~4:00AM THROUGH DOWNTOWN DETROIT MY VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER TO ACCELERATE. THERE WERE NO INSTRUMENT INDICATORS, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL COMPRESSION. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS LIGHTER THAN USUAL TRAFFIC AT THE TIME, BUT NORMALLY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFICULT TO SAFELY MOVE A DISABLED VEHICLE FROM THE EXTREME LEFT TO THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER WITHOUT ENGINE/TRANSMISSION CONTROL. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT A FMC DEALERSHIP AWAITING INSPECTION/REPAIR. I SUBMIT THIS REPORT BECAUSE I FEEL, BASED ON NUMEROUS OTHER REPORTS I'VE READ, THAT THE FIESTA MAY BE A SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
IN AUGUST OF 2013 BOTH FRONT AND REAR DOOR LATCHES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE STOPPED LATCHING WITHIN ONE DAY OF EACH OTHER. DOOR LATCH HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. I NOW HAVE DOOR BUNGIED CLOSED FOR THREE WEEKS. CONTACTED FORD AND WAS CONTACTED BY LOCAL DEALER. THAT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO. ON THE WAY AT ABOUT 40 MPH I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE DURING ACCELERATION. I'M RETIRED MILITARY SO I WAS CLOSE TO AN MWR AUTO CARE ON BASE. THEIR TECHNICIANS TOOK A LOOK AND TOLD ME THEY WERE 95% SURE IT WAS TRANSMISSION WITHOUT OPENING THE UNIT. FROM THERE I TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE CLOSES FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT FOR TWO DAYS. THEY REFERRED ME TO A TRANSMISSION COMPANY THEY USE AROUND THE CORNER. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD DO A DYNASTIC AND WOULD LET ME KNOW. I RECEIVED THE CALL AND THEY TOLD ME THE ENGAGE BARRING SYSTEM UNIT WAS GOING. BOTH THE OWNER AND MANAGER DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A LOT OF MATERIAL ON THIS 2011 FORD FIESTA TRANSMISSION. FORD HAD ALREADY DONE 5 UPDATES. I ALSO DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A LOT PEOPLE WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION COMPANY TOLD ME THAT FORD HAD THIS UNIT ON A MAJOR BACK LOG DUE TO THE PROBLEMS AROUND THE COUNTRY. YESTERDAY , HAD MULTIPLE INCIDENTS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHERE CAR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATOR IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WHILE EXITING HIGHWAY AND LIGHT DID COME ON. FORD REPLACED A SEAL IN THE TRANSMISSION, THEN THEY TOLD US THE SHUDDERING AND HESITATION WAS WITHIN "NORMAL SPECS." IT IS WORSE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP AND IS DANGEROUS -AS IT CAN LOSE POWER WHEN YOU NEED TO CROSS TRAFFIC. FORD HAS NOW AGREED TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH BUT THERE AREN'T ANY IN STOCK AND WE WERE TOLD TO DRIVE IT UNTIL THE PART CAN BE OBTAINED. HOWEVER, I FEEL THE CAR IS A DANGER IN TRAFFIC AND MAY BREAK DOWN ALTOGETHER, LEAVING MYSELF AND TWO DISABLED PERSONS STRANDED. ON 29 MAY, 2013 MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR STALLED. THE RPMS WENT UP AND THE CAR JUST KEPT LOSING SPEED UNTIL IT WOULD NO LONGER GO WITH NO TROUBLE LIGHTS, WHICH IT GAVE THE IMPRESSION THE CAR HAD SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL. A TOW TRUCK CAME AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STARTED THE CAR AS SOON AS IT ARRIVED AND IT STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY AND STATED SINCE THERE WERE NO TROUBLE LIGHTS THAT THEY COULD NOT PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE CAR SO THEY RETURNED THE CAR TO US. ON 5 JUNE, 2013 MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT STALLED AGAIN, BUT WE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND LET IT SIT, THEN RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DID AN INSPECTION. THEY DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR 27 MILES AND COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE AND NO TROUBLE CODES WERE PRESENT SO THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE IT. THEY GAVE US BACK OUR CAR AND ON OUR WAY HOME IT STALLED FOUR MORE TIMES NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENTS WITH A SEMI-TRUCK. IT WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE FIRST FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS KEPT FROM THE 7TH-11TH. THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE CREATED AND THE CAR WAS RELEASED BACK. ON THE WAY HOME IT STALLED AGAIN. ON THE 14TH IT STALLED AGAIN WHILE WAITING AT THE RIGHT TURN LANE AT AN INTERSECTION AND I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS KEPT FROM THE 14TH-19TH FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. THEY WERE FINALLY ABLE TO GET A CODE THAT REQUIRED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) TO BE UPDATED AND RECALIBRATED. ON THE 20TH IT WOULD NOT START AND A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND THEY GAVE IT A JUMP START. I THEN TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND THE BATTERY TESTED FINE AND THE DEALERSHIP LATER HAD THE SAME RESULTS. A PEN LIGHT TESTER SHOWED POWER WAS BEING DRAINED FROM THE BATTERY. THE CAR STALLED AGAIN ON THE 22ND REQUIRING IT TO BE PUSHED OFF THE ROAD TWICE. NOW THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THE BATTERY IS BAD. DUE TO A TRANSMISSION DESIGN FLAW, THE CAR WILL SHUDDER WHEN THE GEARS SHIFT FROM LOW TO HIGH. THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED AT TUTTLE-CLICK FORD IN IRVINE, CA. AND FRITTS FORD IN RIVERSIDE, CA. ON 9/20/14, 12/26/2014, 2/15/16, 3/10/16, 5/28/16, AND 6/23/16. THE TRANSMISSION OF THE CAR CONTINUES TO SHUDDER DURING MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. I HAVE A COPY OF EACH INVOICE FOR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS.
MY 2011 FORD FIESTA AFTER NOT EVEN 5 DAYS OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED JERKING/LUNGING FORWARD MAKING CRAZY CLICKING NOISE. TRANSMISSION SERVICE SOON LIGHT CAME ON CALLED THEM THEY CAME TO MY HOUSE AND GOT IT. IT TOOK THEM TWO WEEKS TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT. THEN I WAS TOLD THE CAR HAS TO GET USE TO MY DRIVING NEVER HEARD THAT A DAY IN MY LIFE. NOW IT'S GRINDING, SLIPPING, HESITATING, LOSE POWER, AND ROLL BACKWARDS AT TAKE OFF. I WAS DOING 65 LAST WEEK WHEN THE CAR STARTED JERKING AND I ALMOST GOT HIT. TAKING IT IN SATURDAY TO SEE WHAT THEY SAY THIS TIME. *TR
THIS IS A 2011 FORD FIESTA WAS ON THE FREEWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO CHANGE LANES AND EXIT THE FREEWAY, THE CAR LOST POWER AND IT LITERALLY FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE IN USE. SINCE (I ASSUME) THE BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT GO ON, I NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH A TRUCK THAT WAS BEHIND ME. I WAS FORTUNATE AND TRAFFIC THE TRAFFIC PATTERN ALLOWED ME TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE NEVER SHUT DOWN, AND WHILE SITTING ON THE BERM AND IDLING, THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN RESPONDED PROPERLY. I PUSHED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF BUTTON AND PROCEEDED WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEM, BUT HAVE NOT USED THE CRUISE CONTROL SINCE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TO KLABAN FORD SERVICE IN KENT OHIO THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT. IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP ON MAY 22 AND I DO NOT YET KNOW THE RESULT. I WAS TOLD THEY WILL TRY TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
LEAKED ALL OIL FROM ENGINE, ACCORDING TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT FINDINGS THE HEAD GASKET BLEW. WAS 2 WEEKS IN THE SHOP. VEHICLE NEVER OVER-HEATED NOR WAS IT EVER DRIVEN IN A MANNER THAT SHOULD RESULT IN A BLOWN GASKET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ALL THREE OCCURRENCES REQUIRING MY CAR TO BE TAKEN TO A SHOP FOR REPAIRS INVOLVED THE VEHICLE MOVING AT HI-WAY SPEEDS. WHILE TRAVELLING AT 65MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL CUT OUT AND ENGINE DIED, SO I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. EVENTUALLY IT RESTARTED AND I GOT HOME. THE ISSUE WAS ELECTRONIC IN NATURE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR, AND TOOK IT FOR SERVICE. THE PART WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE AND WHEN ASKED, THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE PART CAME IN. THE REPAIR WAS MADE UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND PROBLEM WAS VERY SIMILAR TO THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM, BUT WAS NONETHELESS ELECTRONIC IN NATURE. THE REPAIR WAS MADE UNDER WARRANTY. THE THIRD AND MOST RECENT ISSUE INVOLVES THE TRANSMISSION. ON MY DAILY COMMUTE, CRUISE SET AT 65MPH, THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED. THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE DRIVETRAIN. WHEN I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER, NO GEAR COULD BE ACHIEVED. WHEN SHUT OFF, THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES, AFTER MANY CLUNKING AND CLICKING NOISES HAD OCCURRED UNDER THE HOOD, THE CAR STARTED AND I CONTINUED. IT HAPPENED AGAIN...AND AGAIN. THIS OCCURRED FIVE TIMES IN 30 MILES, AND FINALLY THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. THIS WAS ABOUT FIVE MILES FROM HOME AND MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE CAR IS TWO YEARS OLD WITH 85,000 MILES. ALL MILES ARE HI-WAY MILES. ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED WITH RECEIPTS. THIS VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD, FOR INTERMITTENT, TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL ON THE HI-WAY, AS WELL AS LEAVING THE OCCUPANTS STRANDED AT RISK, ON THE SHOULDER OF SAID HI-WAY. FORD DOES NOT SEEM TO WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE PUBLICALLY THAT THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM (I.E. RECALL). *TR

CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD WHILE IN REVERSE GEAR. THE CAR WAS PUT INTO REVERSE GEAR TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A DRIVE WAY ON A SLIGHT,15 DEGREE ( APPROXIMATE ) INCLINE. AS THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD INSTEAD REVERSE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35, 961.

IN FEBRUARY 2012, MY FORD FIESTA (AUTOMATIC DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION) HAD BARELY 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND A TRANSMISSION LEAK WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE, AND THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR TO WORK ON IT FOR TWO WEEKS. ON MARCH 17, 2013, I WAS ABOUT TO RETURN HOME FROM AN OUT OF TOWN TRIP WHEN THE CAR GAVE A 'TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION' MESSAGE, AT WHICH POINT THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN MAKING GRINDING NOISES WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT, JERKING, AND THEN IT WOULDN'T GO IN REVERSE. I HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO HAVE MY CAR TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE CAR FIXED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP STILL HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO TELL ME THE SPECIFIC PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE OR WHAT IS BEING DONE TO FIX IT. THIS CAR HAS 28,870 MILES ON IT AT THIS TIME. *TR
HI, I OWN A 2011 FORD FIESTA THAT GETS STUCK IN 4 INCHES OF SNOW AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS CAUSING A CRASH HAZARD. THE EARLY 2011 FORD FIESTAS WERE MADE WITH TRACTION CONTROL THAT YOU CAN NEVER SHUT OFF. YOU CAN'T GET POWER TO THE WHEELS AND YOU BLOCK THE INTERSECTION UNTIL MULTIPLE PEOPLE EXIT THEIR VEHICLES AND PUSH YOU OUT OF THE INTERSECTION. IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD. I CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE FORD DEALER TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING AVAILABLE TO HELP. I HAVE A CAR WITH ONLY 25,000 MILES ON IT THAT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN THE WINTER. *TR
