TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHILE ACCELERATING AFTER BEING AT A STOP, THE VEHICLE SHOOK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
HAVE HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER ONCE AND JUMPED TWICE SINCE SPRING OF THIS YEAR. I WAS TOLD I DON'T USE IT ENOUGH! I GO OUT ABOUT EVERY OTHER DAY. WHAT IF I WENT ON VACATION FOR A MONTH? WOULD I NOT BE ABLE TO DEPEND ON MY CAR WHEN I RETURNED? TODAY, THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN! I WAS DRIVING IT ON SUNDAY, TODAY IS THURSDAY! ONCE IT WOULDN'T START AFTER I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. LUCKILY I WAS IN A MALL PARKING LOT ON THE WAY TO A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. HAVE HAD FORDS ALL MY LIFE..WOULD HATE TO STOP NOW!! PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.I DIDN'T WRITE DOWN THE DATES. THE DEALER WOULD HAVE THEM ALONG WITH THE COMPANY THAT DOES THE FREE TOWING FOR 3 YEARS. *TR
CAR ACCELERATED WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL AT A STOP SIGN AND THEN WOULD NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED. THIS WAS NOT A SINGLE EVENT IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE SPEED OF IN TOWN, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, MY BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT WITH STOPPED TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME AND STARTED BRAKING. I CONTINUED TO BRAKE BUT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO BRAKE PRESSURE. IT FELT LIKE MY BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHING THROUGH THE FLOOR BOARD BUT NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. MY CAR PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO A STOPPED TRUCK AT ABOUT 35-40MPH. MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I CAME AWAY WITH ACHES AND PAIN BUT FORTUNATELY WAS NOT BADLY INJURED. MY CAR HAS BEEN TOTALED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I HAVE BEEN TELLING FORD SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR THAT THE BRAKES MAKE AN AWFUL SQUEALING NOISE. FINALLY AFTER TWO YEARS THEY "SERVICED" THE BRAKES AND THEN A MONTH LATER THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED. *TR
WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE IT WAS SNOWING. ALL OF THE OTHER VEHICLES WERE SLOWING DOWN BECAUSE THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT BLOCKING OFF THE HIGHWAY. EVENTUALLY WE ALL CAME TO A STOP. AFTER WE STOPPED THERE WAS A YUKON THAT WAS UNABLE TO STOP BECAUSE OF CONDITIONS AND ITS LOAD AND HIT US FROM BEHIND. HE WAS PROBABLY GOING 35 MPH. BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S HEAD FLUNG BACK AGAINST SEATS. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. PASSENGER HAS SUFFERED IN THE SPINE FROM THIS ACCIDENT. *TR
WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR. MAKING A NORMAL LEFT TURN, PULLED UP TO THE LIGHT AND WAITED FOR CROSS TRAFFIC TO CLEAR, WHEN CROSS TRAFFIC CLEARED PRESSED ACCELERATOR TO GO AND THE CAR BARELY RESPONDED. ALMOST CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. *TR
AFTER 6 MONTHS I STARTED HAVING VIBRATION/ TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE ISSUES. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIX THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK. SIX MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE CAR WAS REPAIR 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME DEFECT. NOW IS 20,120 MILES STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT DON'T WANT TO REPAIR IT ANYMORE. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION FROM SHORTLY AFTER THE DAY I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT SHUTTERS, LOCKS UP AND CANNOT SHIFT GEARS. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP OVER 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. WHAT CAN BE DONE FOR ME? *TR
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A SHUDDER WHEN I GO FROM A DEAD STOP. WHEN I HAD EXPERIENCED THIS I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP. AFTER THEY"LOOKED IT OVER" THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND IT IS A YEAR LATER AND IT IS STILL DOING IT AND NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. SIX MONTHS AGO I HAD BEEN TO THE DEALERS FOR A FAILED DOOR LATCH ON MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND LIGHTNING STRUCK AGAIN. I WAS BEGINNING TO FEEL LIKE A PRO. WENT TO THE STORE AND LOADED THE FRONT SEAT THIS TIME WITH GROCERIES AND WENT TO CLOSE IT AND IT JUST BOUNCED BACK. IN A WAY I WAS GRATEFUL BECAUSE I KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG BUT AT THE SAME TIME I WAS LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING? I WAS IN A LOCATION WHERE I COULD RETRIEVE A BUNGEE CORD FROM MY PLACE OF BUSINESS AND LUCKILY IT WAS A SATURDAY AND FORD WAS STILL OPEN SO I TOOK IT IN AND THEY COULD LOCK IT UP UNTIL MONDAY. THEY OVERNIGHTED A PART FROM ANOTHER DEALER AND WERE ABLE TO INSTALL IT LATE TUESDAY NIGHT BUT AS IT SO HAPPENED PUTTING THE LATCH AND DOOR BACK TOGETHER, THE RIGHT SIDE WINDOW HANDLE REGULATOR BROKE AND THEY HAND TO REPLACE IT. I ENDED UP GETTING MY CAR BACK ON THURSDAY. SO IN A MATTER OF SIX MONTHS I HAD TWO BROKEN DOOR LATCHES ON TWO DIFFERENT DOORS. I WAS GRATEFUL TO BE CLOSE TO A FORD DEALER BUT IT CONCERNS ME FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT AND THOSE WHO MIGHT BE TRAVELING FAR DISTANCES AND THIS HAPPENS. IT CONCERNED ME THAT IT ALL THE WARRANTIES THAT MY NEW CAR HAS AND STILL HAS THAT THIS INCIDENT WAS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY CONCERN THAT THEY WOULD HAVE PAID FOR A RENTAL CAR. ONLY REASON THEY PAID FOR IT WAS BECAUSE I CALLED AND RAISED A KERFUFFLE AND POINTED OUT THE SECURITY AND SAFETY CONCERNS AND IT ACTUALLY HAD TO BE ASSIGNED A WHOLE CASE NUMBER. EVEN AFTER ALL OF THIS I RECEIVE A NOTICE IN THE MAIL ABOUT A WARRANTY EXTENSION ON MYPOWER SHIFT 6SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FOR EXCESSIVE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUDDER CAUSED BY FLUID CONTAMINATION OF THE CLUTCH DUE TO LEAKING TRANSMISSION SEALS. AFTER ALL OF THIS I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL VIBRATED AS THE CONTACT APPLIED FORCE TO THE PEDAL AND THE SPEED DECREASED WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT OBSERVED TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING FROM THE FRONT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY. THERE WERE NO DIAGNOSTIC TESTS PERFORMED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED ONCE THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
BRAKES SQUEEK. DEALER SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. STILL SQUEEKS, BUT NOW ALSO SQUEEKS EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT BRAKING. IT IS A HIGH PITCHED SQUEEL, AND IS EMBARRASSING. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION ON THE CAR WILL START GIVING OUT AND WHEN YOUR TRYING TO DRIVE IN ROAD IT WILL START TO SLOW DOWN. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR FOR SERVICE TO FORD FOR THE SAME REASON AND OTHER REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE TO THE CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW FROM FORD. I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD BE BOUGHT BACK I HAVE TO KEEP TAKING IT TO GET WORK DONE ON IT. *TR
INQUIRY FROM CONGRESSMAN COURTNEY ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENTS RE A RECALL THAT SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR A 2012 FORD FIESTA. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS, THE TRANSMISSION BECAME A PROBLEM. THERE WAS A SHUDDER COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, AND TRANSMISSION OIL SEAL WERE REPLACED. ALSO, THERE WERE NUMEROUS REPROGRAMMING OF THE TCM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 13 TIMES SINCE JANUARY 2014 TO ADDRESS THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE OR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TRANSMISSION. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE LEFT THE CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER STRANDED. THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS UNPREDICTABLE. *JB
IN EARLY 2013, I TOOK MY CAR TO MY DEALER BECAUSE OF TRANSMISSION CONCERNS, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL FOR MY TRANSMISSION. DECEMBER 2013, MY CAR WOULD BALK, DID NOT WANT TO PROCEED WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL. TOOK IT BACK TO MY DEALER. THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM WITH MY TRANSMISSION. THEY STATED THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. I EXPLAINED I WAS GETTING READY TO GO OUT OF TOWN. THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED, IT WOULD NOT BE SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE MY CAR. I ENDED UP LEAVING MY CAR THERE & RENTED A CAR FOR 2 WEEKS. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, SAME THING. THEY REPLACED THE PART. AFTER THAT VISIT, THERE WAS A TERRIBLE RACKET COMING FROM UNDERNEATH MY CAR. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, HAD TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED AGAIN. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE NOISE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS WIND NOISE FROM COMING FROM A HEAT SHIELD. I MOVED TO ANOTHER STATE, MY CAR COULD HARDLY GO UP A HILL. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER. I NEEDED THAT PART REPLACED AGAIN & NEEDED BEARINGS & OTHER PARTS REPLACED IN MY TRANSMISSION. THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE & THEY FOUND ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE INTERNAL PARTS OF MY TRANSMISSION. THEY HAD TO COMPLETELY REBUILD MY TRANSMISSION.
THE VEHICLE HAS SERIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IN LOW GEARS IT OFTEN LURCHES, SHAKES, AND STALL OUT AS IF IT'S GOING TO DROP THE GEAR. THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING/RATTLING SOUND WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS. IT FEELS VERY UNSAFE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR IN CITY CONDITIONS. THE ISSUES WITH THE LURCHING GEARS AND DROPPED GEARS ALSO MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY. THIS MAKES MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY UNSAFE. *TR
I HAVE A 2012 FORD FIESTA AND MY TRUNK RECENTLY STARTED OPENING UP ON IT'S OWN. THE CAR CAN BE ON OR OFF, STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, AND THE TRUNK WILL JUST POP OPEN ON ITS OWN. I FIRST NOTICED THAT THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE TRUNK WOULD NOT ENGAGE WHEN I PRESSED ON IT TO OPEN THE TRUNK, AND I HAD TO USE THE BUTTON ON THE KEY TO OPEN THE TRUNK, AND THEN IT JUST STARTED POPPING OPEN ON ITS OWN. IF I AM SITTING IN THE CAR I CAN HEAR IT CLICK AND THEN THE TRUNK OPENS UP. *TR
MY CAR HAD SOME SUSPECTED ISSUES FROM THE BEGINNING (GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH GEARS) BUT I ASSUMED IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE DUAL TRANSMISSION THE CAR DROVE LIKE A MANUAL. I HAD SOME ISSUES WITH SHUDDERING BUT I WAS ASSURED IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE WAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS. IN DECEMBER WHEN MY CAR WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD AND I HAD ABOUT 32,000 MILES ON IT THE NOISE INTENSIFIED AND BECOME WORSE, IT WAS ALSO ACCOMPANIED BY THE CAR SHUDDERING ALMOST CONSTANTLY NAMELY AT LOW SPEEDS. I TOOK IT FOR AN OIL CHANGE, AND THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT SOMETHING SEEMED OFF WITH THE TRANSMISSION SO I MIGHT WANT TO HAVE A FORD DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. A COUPLE DAYS LATER I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A GREEN LIGHT AND MY CAR DID WHAT SEEMED LIKE A SEMI-STALL, THE CAR DIED FOR ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS BEFORE KICKING BACK ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND APPARENTLY SOME FORD FIESTA'S HAVE A DEFECT OF SOME SORT IN THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSES THE CLUTCHES TO SLIP. THEY GAVE ME A FREE LOANER CAR, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN I WILL GET MY CAR BACK SINCE THE PARTS THAT ARE NEEDED ARE MASSIVELY BACKORDERED. I FEEL LIKE FORD OWNERS THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY THE ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE NOTIFIED OF THIS POTENTIAL ISSUE. IT MAY NOT BE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE NOW, BUT IF THOSE TRANSMISSIONS START GIVING OUT IT COULD BE. HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE NO OTHER ISSUES WITH MY CAR ESPECIALLY AFTER IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I FIRST SUBMITTED A REPORT ON THIS SITE BACK IN DECEMBER 2013 REGARDING ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH. I HAD OWNED THE CAR FOR A YEAR AND HAD ABOUT 36000 MILES ON MY CAR WHEN IT STARTED STALLING BUT THE ISSUES PROBABLY STARTED AROUND 20-25,000 MILES. ALTHOUGH I DO RECALL ONE INSTANCE ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR WHEN THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO CUT SHORT ON THE HIGHWAY. MOST OF THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES INVOLVED SHUDDERING/SHAKING AND GROWLING NOISE/STALLING SENSATION WHEN IN 1ST/2ND GEAR.MY MECHANIC (NON-FORD RELATED) MENTIONED IT DIDN'T SEEM NORMAL. A FEW WEEKS LATER MY CAR SEMI-STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION. I TOOK IT TO FORD, THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR A MONTH UNTIL THEY GOT THE PART AND "FIXED" IT. A FEW MONTHS LATER I GOT A LETTER STATING THERE WERE ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION. BUT NO FORMAL RECALL WHICH IS SHOCKING....NOW A YEAR AND HALF LATER AND ABOUT 15,000 MORE MILES ON MY CAR I HAVE STARTED FEELING THAT SAME SENSATION WHEN DRIVING. I KNOW THE ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION IS STARTING AGAIN. I RECENTLY MOVED OUT OF STATE, AND THE DEALERSHIP I CALLED IS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND WHEN BRINGING IT IN (NO AVAILABLE APPOINTMENTS FOR WEEKS, NO FREE RENTAL CAR WHICH IF IT'S UNDER WARRANTY I SHOULD GET). PLUS THERE IS THE DOOR/LATCH RECALL. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE, I'M SHOCKED THERE HASN'T BEEN MORE RECALLS OR TAKING THE CARS WITH THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION OFF THE ROAD.... ALREADY CONTACTED FORD REGARDING MY FRUSTRATIONS WITH THIS CAR. THEY'VE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT WHAT GOOD WILL THAT DO WHEN THE WARRANTY IS UP AND THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING EVERY 20,000 OR MILES OR SO? OR WHEN SOMEONE GETS HURT? THE FAIR THING FOR THEM TO DO IS APOLOGIZE FOR THEIR MISTAKES, TAKE THE CARS OFF THE ROAD, AND REIMBURSE PEOPLE FOR THE CARS. INVESTING IN QUALITY CAR THAT IS SAFE AND RELIABLE IS IMPORTANT. FORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH CVT TRANSMISSION. THE SEALS LEAK. THEY GIVE LIP SERVICE TO REPAIRS. I WENT MANY TIMES TO LAFAYETTE FORD. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SEAL. THE TRANSMISSION STILL SLIPS. NOW THEY SAY IT IS THE CLUTCHES. FORD HAS THE PART, ON BACK ORDER. I HAVE ASKED, FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE FORD AREA MANAGER SAID NO. THE THINK THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL OF THE CVT, ON 2012-2014 FOCUSES AND FIESTA. *TR
I HAVE A 2012 FORD FIESTA THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN MARCH 2012. AT RANDOM TIMES I FELT THE CAR SHUDDERING DURING ACCELERATION WHEN GOING INTO 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE IT HAPPENED MORE FREQUENTLY CAUSING MY CAR TO SHAKE. AT TIMES IT WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WOULD DIE OUT. I FINALLY TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD STILL AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE CLUTCH SYSTEM HAVING TROUBLE CATCHING. THIS WAS REPLACED IN JANUARY 2014. 10000 TO 12000 MILES LATER AROUND THE END OF MAY 2014 THE SAME PROBLEMS ARE HAPPENING AGAIN. AT THIS TIME MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SHAKING UPON ACCELERATION AND ENGINE LIGHT. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS EXPECTED WITH THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION BECAUSE OF THE BUILT OF IT AND BLAMED THE THROTTLEBODY (ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSIS) THAT IS CAUSING THE SHAKING. I PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR THE THROTTLE BODY SINCE AT THIS TIME MY WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED. I PICKED IT UP AND 2 DAYS LATER I HAD TO RETURN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM OF SHAKING UPON ACCELERATION. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A DAY AND THE TRANSMISSION TECH DIAGNOSED THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE WHICH WAS THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY SYSTEM. EVEN THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED TO ME THAT MANY OTHER FIESTA OWNERS ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND SOME ARE ON THEIR 3RD REPLACEMENT OF THE CLUTCH SYSTEM. CURRENTLY I'M STILL WAITING FOR THE PARTS FOR MY CAR TO COME IN TO HAVE IT REPAIRED BUT THE SHAKING IS GETTING WORSE AND MAKING LOUD GRINDING NOISES. THIS WAS A FRIDAY AND WHEN I CALLED THEY ALMOST TRIED TELLING ME THERE WASN'T MUCH THEY COULD SEEING IT WAS A FRIDAY AFTERNOON. I LET THEM HAVE AN EARFUL TELLING THEM THIS WAS A SECURITY AND SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE NO WAY OF LOCKING MY CAR OR SECURING MY CAR BC OF A FAULTY DOOR. THE SECOND TIME I BROUGHT IT (OCTOBER, 2013, APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES) THEY KEPT IT FOR A WEEK AND TOLD ME THERE WAS SOMETHING LEAKING ON TO THE CLUTCH AND THEY FIXED IT. NOW, AT 57,000 MILES, THE CAR IS SHUDDERING WORSE THAN EVER, PARTICULARLY BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS, AND THE RATTLING NOISE HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. PEOPLE RIDING WITH ME CONSTANTLY ASK WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I FINALLY BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT HAS NOW BEEN FOR TWO WEEKS. MULTIPLE CLUTCH FAILURES. FIRST ONE STARTED FAILING AROUND 50,000 AND REPLACED AT 70,000. REPLACED SECOND CLUTCH AT 100,000. THIS THIRD CLUTCH IS NOW FAILING AT 130,000. I SEE FROM READING MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE THAT IT IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME CHRONIC SYMPTOMS OF ERRATIC ACCELERATION AND SHUDDERING IN FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD GEAR. I HAVE HAD MANY NEAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT FORD KNOWINGLY REPLACED THE CLUTCH AND SEALS IN MY CAR WITH MALFUNCTIONING PARTS. APPARENTLY NEWLY ENGINEERED PARTS WERE PRODUCED AS A PATCH FOR THIS ISSUE. 2012 FORD FIESTA: PURCHASED 12/4/12 ORIGINAL OWNER! HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION CONCERNS SINCE MY I PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT WITH, THEY TOLD ME NOTHING ABOUT THE AWARENESS OF THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IN FACT I RAN INTO THE SALESMAN WHO STATED HE JUST FOUND OUT HIMSELF AND IS HE HAD KNOWN HE WOULD NOT ADVISED THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. SINCE THEY HAD BEEN REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH WITH NO COST OUT OF MY POCKET, I CONTINUED TO HAVE THEM REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION. BUT, I HAVE NOW SPENT MORE TIME BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE DEALER AND HAVING TO LEAVE MY CAR FOR DIAGNOSES AND REPAIR WORK AND IT IS GETTING VERY OLD. NOT TO SAY WHAT THIS DOES FOR THE RESALE OF THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIRS FOR THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH HAVE BEEN ENDLESS, REPLACING SEALS, REPROGRAMMING COMPUTERS ETC ETC. I HAVE BEEN INTO THE DEALER FIVE (5) OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, WITH SOME OCCASIONS HAVING TO LEAVE THE CAR WITH THE DEALER FOR DAYS (PARTS WERE BACK ORDERED). CLEARLY FORD WAS NOT INITIALLY WILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE UNTIL MOST RECENTLY, THE DEALER NOW STATES THE SYMPTOMS FROM THE TRANSMISSION ARE A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH A 6 SPEED AUTO & DUAL CLUTCH. REPAIR WORK ON TRANSMISSION: DATE, MILEAGE, REPAIRS THUS FAR: 5/03/13: 9,659: REPROGRAMMING, ADAPTIVE LEARNING 7/11/13: 13,193: IDS UPDATED, RESET ADAPTIVE LEARNING 10/29/13: 19,945: CLUTCH ASSEMBLY, SEALS, GASKETS REPLACED, TRANSMISSION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMMING 5/21/14: 33,062: REPLACED OUTPUT SHAFT: SEAL ASY., BEARING ASY., CLUTCH ASY. ETC ETC. 10/7/14: 42,757: POWER CONTROL, TRANSMISSION CONTROL AND COMPUTER UPDATES. 11/22: CALLED FORD DEALER SERVICE: REPORTED THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH [PROBLEMS CONTINUE. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THE SHUTTERING AND HESITATIONS ARE NORMAL TRANSMISSION OPERATION, CAN BRING TO DEALER FOR ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSES, IF I FELT SO INCLINED. *TR
MY 2012 FORD FIESTA, LIKE ALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 2012 FIESTAS AND FOCUSES, HAS DEVELOPED CHRONIC TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS -- SLIPPAGE, RATTLING, GRINDING, SHAKING -- WHILE SHIFTING FROM A STOP INTO FIRST, SECOND INTO THIRD, ETC. THESE PROBLEMS WERE SLIGHTLY NOTICEABLE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH AND, THREE WEEKS LATER, ARE MARKEDLY WORSE. *TR
