As I'm driving the car will stop if I get it to go again it won't pick up speed, it will rev up but not go, I was told that it has all the original parts that was until I had someone look at it for the problem stated since then it has new spark plugs new front brakes, break's in back have been rotated new tires, I'm still paying a car note on this car I've had to pay towing fees and still the problem persist I'm scared to put my boys in this car but it's our only form of transportation the dealer that sold me this car is horrible and Ford was of no help, still trying to find the main issue.
Clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder failure. Both leaked, clutch pedal ceased functioning while driving, leaving the car inoperable
Swollen lug nuts made removing wheels impossible. Unable to receive balance at a shop. Tire blowout on 28Apr22 caused prolonged disablement in unsafe area due to inability to remove lug nuts and change tire.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle began to vibrate abnormally. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact pulled over and turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle started shuddering. The contact was eventually able to drive the vehicle without the failure recurring. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer and it was diagnosed that the transmission had a "flutter" and determined that numerous transmission parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
Driving in the highway the car exceeded 60mph and it overheated. When I took it to the mechanic they said that the the head gasket was cracked and leaking fumed into the coolant. I have had trouble with overheating and fixed it with a thermostat replacement and fixing leak of coolant. Mechanic report: “ vel 1 Testing Scope and scan we pulled codes P1299-00 "Cylinder Head Over Temperature Protection Active" and P2557-00 "Engine Coolant Level Sensor switch circuit Range/Performance" data pids and freeze frames were reviewed we had only 1 freeze frame and that was for code P1299 it set at engine rpm of 2378, vehicle speed was 64 mph, time since start was 317 seconds, ECT186 degrees, IAT 71 degrees ambient temp was 64 degrees, distance since codes cleared was 5018 miles. Cooling system visual inspection was performed we found the coolant bottle full. We tried to pull spark plugs to do leak down test and found three of the plugs are seized and not coming out. We put the sample hose from gas analyzer in expansion tank and hydrocarbons went to 64 PPM instantly, revealing combustion gasses being pushed in the cooling system.”. When looking for recalls for my cars make and model and a recall was made with the exact same thing that happened to my car, but my car was no added to the recall number. Recall #17V209000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fiesta. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact stated that the hood and door lights were inadvertently illuminated. Additionally, the key fob was not recognized while placed in the ignition switch. The failures were intermittent. The dealer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that she had to pay out of pocket for the fob key replacement. Lilliston Ford Inc (833 N Delsea Dr, Vineland, NJ 08360) and Carman Ford (193 S Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720) were also made aware of the failures and informed the contact to schedule an appointment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
At the time of this complaint, the Ford Fiesta that's the subject of this complaint has received 1 whole new transmission and 1 TCM replacement within 2.5 years. The first two times there were warning lights, but now no warnings are showing. To put this issue into perspective, I have only owned this car for 2.5 years, and it was purchased from a dealership used (however the dealership never mentioned the rampant transmission issues or informed me of the recent lawsuits about the Ford Fiesta). The replacement of the TCM was completed on September 16, 2021. This repair took a month to complete. Now, after being repaired for a mere 2 months, the car is exhibiting the exact same behaviors as both previous occurrences. Both previous repairs were completed by professionals, and should have fixed the issue. However, the transmission issues continue to reoccur. At this point, the car has become a major safety concern. The transmission issues are becoming extremely frequent after the "repairs" and "replacements", and are sudden in occurrence while driving. There is no warning the gear will slip into what seems to be "neutral", or that it will fail to accelerate. Additionally, the car will randomly fail to respond to gas pedal presses, especially at intersections or on hills. I fear that this car is dangerous to drive, as the issues are so sudden in nature. I have tried to settle the issue with Ford directly, but they have ignored me every step of the way. At one point, they said they would try to start a buy-back process, but then refused to return my follow-up calls.
The DSP6 transmission is slipping out of gear and into neutral. This causes the car's momentum to fall below safe advised speeds on highways, and also can cause the car to jerk suddenly at intersections. Ford knows about this issue but is refusing to repair it.
While I was driving on the interstate I was needing to shift into 5th gear, but it wouldn’t take the shift. I had to drive in the lower gears and it caused backup because I was on a toll road but couldn’t pick up speed. When I got to my destination, I realized I no longer had reverse. Mechanic says the transmission needs to be replaced bc it’s too expensive and difficult to fix, but we can’t find a transmission to fix it. He said he got it to go into 5th and reverse, but they don’t work.
Clutch pedal intermittently depresses but does not return to raised position. Clutch pedal can manually be returned to standard position but is then sometimes “sticky” after being depressed. Vehicle is a 2014 with less than 60,000 miles and is the 4th vehicle with a standard transmission I have owned. After reading on forums for this vehicle it appears that many people are having this exact same issue with the car and I suspect that it is a design defect.
I was lost and hit a turn to fast cause my car to launch and roll into a concrete ditch multiple times off a freeway turnaround. My airbags never deployed.
FRONT DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT LATCH,. MECHANICALLY OR ELECTRICALLY. TO REPEAT, THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH AND SWINGS FREELY. THIS OCCURRED AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO LOCK ALL THE DOORS.
REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR NOT LATCHING AND DOES NOT LOCK AND STAY CLOSED
The contact's son owns a 2014 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced an engine cooling system failure and was repaired. The contact later became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) that he related to the failure. The contact stated while his son was was at a complete stop at the traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart with a 15 seconds delay. Upon making a right turn, the failure reoccurred. The contact's son was able to restart the vehicle; however, the failure persisted upon making a left turn. The vehicle restarted with a 30 seconds delay. The contact's son was able to continue driving. However, the failure reoccurred the next day while coming to a complete stop. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that fuel rail and fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was able to restart and was towed to the contact's residence. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V005000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V402000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 36,999.
FROM A DEAD STOP AT 2045 HRS CENTRAL TIME AS. I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN ON NORTHLAND AVENUE ON THE WAY TO FLORIDA AVENUE TO MY SONS HOUSE. WHEN I WENT TO TAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO MEADE STREET (LOCATED IN APPLETON WIS) I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR MY ENGINE REVED BUT MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. IT LURCHED SUDDENLY GRABBING POWER THEN STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. I CHECKED TO SEE THAT IT WAS IN DRIVE AND NOT IN ANY OTHER GEAR. AS I PRESSED THE GAS AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION AND CAR STRUGGLED TO ENGAGE WHAT I COULD ONLY IMAGINE WAS THE CLUTCH. FINALLY I THE CAR ENGAGED AND JERKED ME FORWARD. I WAS VERY WORRIED I WAS GOING TO GET HIT STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION ! THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW OFF THE LOT!! IT HAS 61,750 MILES ON IT! I'M A 64 YEAR OLD LITTLE OLD LADY WHO TAKES CARE OF HER CAR! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS AND UNCALLED FOR! PLEASE CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION INTO FORDS 'NON-SERVICEABLE' TRANSMISSION! YOU CAN'T EVEN ADD FLUID OR CHECK THE LEVEL OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. I'VE TOLD MY SON AT TIMES AS WELL I'VE SMELLED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS HOT TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE SMELL WAS DISTINCT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF A CAR YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE DEALER TO GET SERVICE FOR THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT'S SEALED. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND DANGEROUS !!

THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000. THE CONSUMER STATED ON A DAILY BASIS, WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED, IT WOULD ENGAGE INTO GEAR WITHOUT RELEASING THE CLUTCH. *JS
CAR JERKS AND WHEN I UNLOCK DOOR ONLY 1 DOOR UNLOCKS AND THAT IS DRIVER'S SIDE TRANSMISSION GOING OUT AND EVERY TIME I PUT GAS ACT LIKE DOES WANT TO START UP AGAIN AND THEN ITS TAKES FOREVER JUST TO CATCH UP SPEED
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE STARTED TO SURGE, MISFIRE AND THEN FOR NO APPARENTLY REASON THE ENGINE SHUT-OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES IT FIRED BACK UP AND RAN MOMENTARILY AND THEN DIED AGAIN .HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY CLAIM THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE SAME PROBLEM. DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR ANYMORE, UNLESS THEY CAN RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER BY THE FORD MOTOR CO.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, I OPENED THE DOOR AND THE LOCK ASSEMBLY ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR FELL OF.

MY RECALL STATES THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO STOP DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE UNDER THIS SAFETY. MY BACK DOOR LATCH OPENED WHILE DRIVING WHICH MAKES THE CAR UNDRIVABLE AND NEEDING A TOW, POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAD A PTSD RESPONSE TO THE INCIDENT AND HAD TO GO TO THE DOCTOR BECAUSE OF THE STRESS INDUCED ON MY BODY. I ALSO REQUIRED MEDICAL MASSAGES. MY FRONT DOOR HINGE ALSO WAS ABOUT TO BREAK THE SERVICE DEPT INFORMED ME AS WELL WHICH IS NOT ON THIS RECALL. OTHER OWNERS MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CUTTER FORD LOCATED AT 98-015 KAMEHAMEHA HWY, AIEA, HI 96701, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR LATCHES WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V177000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
CLUTCH PEDAL WON'T RAISE. AT REST WHEN PUSHING IN THE PEDAL IT GOES TO THE FLOOR AND WILL ONLY RAISE ABOUT AN INCH. WHEN DISENGAGING, THE CLUTCH SLIPS. APPEARS TO BE A FAILURE OF THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER. THIS OCCURED AT ABOUT 66,000 MILES. I HAD IT REPAIRED AND AFTER FEWER THAN 5000 MILES IT'S HAPPENED AGAIN.
CAR IS OVERHEATING CONSTANTLY
WHILE DRIVING ON A ONRAMP I SHIFTED FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL WAS THEN STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT COME BACK UP, I HAD TO MANUALLY PULL IT BACK UP. WHILE DRIVING DOWN CITY STREET I SHIFTED FROM 2ND TO 3RD AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL ONCE AGAIN STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND HAD TO BE MANUALLY PULLED UP. ALL FLUIDS ARE TOPPED OFF AND NOT ABOVE THE MAXIMUM LINE.
ACCORDING TO THE DEAL A BEARING CAME LOSE INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION AND SHOT THROUGH THE CASING. THE TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH, AND FLYWHEEL ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR A TOTAL OF $4700 PLUS TAX. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE CAR HAS 75K MILES ON IT AND SHOULD DEFINITELY NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES.
The contact owned a 2014 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speed the contact noticed that the vehicle would become very hot and coming from the engine and interior of the vehicle and temperature gages was going up and down. The contact placed water in the coolant tank to cool down the vehicle. The contact was going to place a coolant sensor on the vehicle but never had the chance to do it. A few days later the contact was driving at undisclosed speed, the contact pulled into a parking lot and noticed flames coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle under the front wheel which continue to in gulf the vehicle. The contact exit out of the vehicle and called the fire department who extinguish the flames from the vehicle. No one was injured. The police came to the scene but there was no police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to a salvage tow yard where it was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,729.
CLICKING SOUND JUST RANDOMLY STARTED FROM INSIDE THE DASHBOARD,WITHIN FEW SECONDS OF STARTING THE ENGINE. A QUICK YOUTUBE SEARCH CAME BACK WITH HVAC BLEND DOOR MOTOR AS THE CULPRIT. SEEMS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE BUT A HUGE NUISANCE AS THESE SMALL PARTS STARTS RANDOMLY WEARING OUT IN LESS THAN 100K MILES / WITHIN 6 YEARS.

COMING BACK FROM GROCERY SHOPPING, I ENTERED A PARKED CAR, PULLED OUT AND THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN. I PULLED BACK IN, AND WAS UNABLE TO LATCH CLOSE THE DOOR. NOT BLOCKED IN THE LOCKED POSITION, BUT UNABLE TO FASTEN WHEN THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED. I HAD TO BUY DUCT TAPE TO KEEP IT CLOSED. I LATER LEARNED THAT FORD HAS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND A PRE-RECALL NUMBER THAT REFLECTS MY ISSUE. 20S15. I AM REPORTING THIS AS IT IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I CAN NOT COPE LONG WITH THE BACK DOOR SEAT BELTED BY THE ARM. PLEASE BRING ENFORCEMENT PRESSURE TO THE FORD COMPANY. THANKS.
ELECTRIC STEERING ASSIST SPONTANEOUSLY FAILS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. STEERING FAULT MESSAGE DISPLAYS ON DASH SCREEN. VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO STEER UNTIL ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND TURNED ON AGAIN. *TR
A RECALL ABOUT THE COOLING SYSTEM NOT WORKING PROPERLY WAS ISSUED FOR CARS SIMILAR TO THIS ONE BUT NOT SPECIFICALLY. I AM NOW HAVING THIS PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT ISN'T SHOWING UP ON THE ACTIVE RECALL LIST FOR MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A DANGER TO ME AND MY FAMILY AND I CANT GET IT LOOKED AT BECAUSE THE RECALL ISN'T ON THIS CAR. IT IS HAPPENING TO IT THOUGH AND WAS REPORTED ON 2014 FORD FIESTAS. DON'T KNOW WHY MINE ISN'T LISTED. IT OVERHEATS WHEN I AM IDLE BUT NOT IN MOTION. WHEN I COME TO A STOP, IN TRAFFIC OR AT A STOPLIGHT, THE AC GETS HOT AND THE OVERHEAT LIGHT POPS ON. LOCKS, TODAY IS MAY 14, 2020. I WAS AT THE STORE AND TRYING TO LOCK MY CAR AND IT WILL NOT TURN TO LOCK SO I HAD TO LOCK FROM THE INSIDE, I ALREADY HAVE AND ISSUE WITH INE KEY NOT LOCKING THE DOORS NOW THE ACTUAL LOCK DOES NOT WANT TO LOCK WITH THE KEY. *TR
MY VEHICLE, AFTER LESS THAN 75K MILES BEGAN TO HAVE OVERHEATING PROBLEMS. I HAD VARIOUS PARTS REPLACED UNTIL FINALLY IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE HEAD GASKET HAD BLOWN ON IT. AFTER RESEARCHING FORUMS AND SITES WHERE OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE OR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME TYPE OF ENGINE, WERE EXPERIENCING ISSUES MUCH LIKE MINE. THE ENGINE HEAD IT MADE OF ALUMINIUM AND THE ENGINE BLOCK IS MADE OF CAT IRON. THIS FACT COUPLED WITH HIGH CYLINDER PRESSURES AND A NATURALLY HIGH ENGINE OPERATING TEMPERATURE RESULTS IN VARIOUS PARTS FAILING TO TO EXCESSIVE PRESSURE AND HEATING. ALTHOUGH FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE BY UPDATING THEIR REPLACEMENT COMPONENTS, THEY HAVE NOT ADDRESSED THE SAFETY OR MONETARY IMPACT OF THOSE WHO HAVE HAD TO REPAIR A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THEIR ENGINES.
I WENT TO PICK UP MY NEPHEWS FROM THEIR BABYSITTER THIS WEEKEND AND WHEN I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME THE BACK DOOR BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT SWUNG OPEN. KEEP IN MIND I HAD TWO LITTLE KIDS IN THE BACK FREAKING OUT I SLOWLY MADE MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO CLOSE IT SO WE HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY SO IT WOULDN'T DIE. ARIZONA IS A VERY HOT STATE BUT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR BECAUSE I'M SCARED THAT THE OTHER DOORS WILL DO THE SAME THING. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR DOOR LOCK WAS INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A ROPE WAS TIED ACROSS THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO SECURE THE DOOR. THE CONTACT CONTACTED QUICK LANE AT VILLAGE FORD OF BELLEVIEW LOCATED AT (11660 US-441, BELLEVIEW, FL 34420, (352) 233-2950) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES), 17V210000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES), OR 20V177000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE BEARINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION NEED REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A ROARING NOISE.
WE BOUGHT THE CAR FEBRUARY, 2016. AS WE DROVE THE CAR MORE, WE BEGAN TO NOTICE SHUTTERING AND CHATTERING. AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC TEST DROVE OUR CAR. HE SAID IT HAD A BAD TORQUE CONVERTER SHUTTER THAT GETS WORSE THE MORE YOU DRIVE THE CAR. WHEN IN SPORT MODE, WHEN YOU SHIFT FROM 1ST, IT SKIPS 2ND, AND GOES STRAIGHT TO 3RD. THERE WAS LOUD CLATTERING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHEN GEARING DOWN AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE, ESPECIALLY UPHILL. MARCH 1, 2016, THE TRANSMISSION WAS WORKED ON AT RAMEY FORD, PRINCETON, WV. MAY 31, 2016, THE TRANSMISSION WAS WORKED ON AT RAMEY FORD, PRINCETON, WV. MAY 9, 2017, THE TRANSMISSION WAS WORKED ON AT MOUNTAINEER AUTOMOTIVE, BECKLEY, WV. NOVEMBER 28, 2017, THE TRANSMISSION WAS WORKED ON AT MOUNTAINEER AUTOMOTIVE, BECKLEY, WV. MARCH 3, 2020, I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AT ACT AUTO, BECKLEY, WV BECAUSE THE CAR HAD BEEN MAKING A WHINING SOUND THAT CONTINUED TO GET LOUDER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT PUMP OF THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED. MY WIFE AND I ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE, FOR FEAR THAT THE CAR WILL STALL OUT OR CAUSE US TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT.

I'VE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 10 MONTHS. LATELY I?LL BE SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT OR DRIVE THROUGH AND THE LIGHT THAT SAYS IT'S OVERHEATING COMES ON AND IF I DON'T TURN IT OFF IT WILL SHUT OFF ITSELF. THE FLUIDS ARE ALL FULL. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN GIVING ME TROUBLE FOR A FEW MONTHS AND IT'S GETTING WORSE. I'LL PRESS THE GAS SLOWLY AND THE CAR JUMPS. I HAVE 4 MORE YEARS TO PAY ON THIS CAR! I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED ON THIS CAR'S PERFORMANCE
WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE THE CLUTCH POP OUT OF GEAR. WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY IT AUTOMATICALLY POPS OUT OF GEAR AND SLOWS DOWN. IF MY CAR IS ON CRAS COMO TELL IT WILL COME OUT OF GEAR. WHEN SHIFTING GEARS IT BECOMES DIFFICULT AND IT SEEMS TO SPEED UP AND SLOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED AND HAVE HAD TO PULL OFF ROAD TO AVOID BEING HIT. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN GARAGE DUE TO FEAR OF BEING HIT. TOOK TO REPAIR AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL NOTICE FOR MY VEHICLE. SO I DISMISSED THE REPAIR BUT STILL HAVE ISSUES LOOKING FOR MECHANIC TO FIX IT.
CAR HAS APPROX 35K MILES. CAR DROVE FINE TO LOCATION. UPON STARTING CAR TO LEAVE LOCATION, THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. SHUTTING OFF IGNITION AND RESTARTING RESOLVED THE ISSUE, HOWEVER, LEAVES CONCERNS REGARDING THE RELIABILITY OF THE POWER STEERING AS NO IMMEDIATE CAUSE COULD BE DETERMINED BY MECHANIC.
THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THE ECOBOOST 1.0 MOTOR AND COOLING SYSTEM. THOUGH NOT MANY WERE SOLD IN THE US, IN THE UK THERE ARE MANY AND THE ISSUES ARE WELL KNOWN AND "OWNED" BY FORD UK. MY ENGINE SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE DUE TO COOLING SYSTEM FAILURE, EXACTLY AS LINED OUT ON THEIR WEB SITE IN THE ISSUE TAB. THE MATERIAL USE TO MAKE THE THIN DEGAS LINE BECOMES BRITTLE WHEN SUBJECTED TO HIGH HEAT, AS COOLING SYSTEMS ARE WONT TO BE, LEADING TO COOLANT BEING BOILED OUT. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT SINCE I'M NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, PURCHASED FROM A FORD DEALER THOUGH, THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAILURE THAT IS OWNED UP TO ON THEIR UK SITE. CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALER WHERE IT TOOK APPROX 2-WEEKS TO EVEN GET BACK WITH "WATER IN MOTOR, REPLACE" QUOTED OVER $5K. CALLED FORD INC. THEY SAY TALK TO DEALER, DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING, TALK TO FORD INC. THEY DID NOT REDESIGN THE PART, THEY DID NOT NOTIFY THAT IT WAS AN ALMOST CERTAIN POINT OF FAILURE. THIS ISSUE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO EASY TO SIDE STEP. BUT HIDING BEHIND "NOT ORIGINAL OWNER" FOR A ENGINEERING DEFECT THAT THEY ADMIT TO ON THE UK WEBSITE SMACKS OF "YOUR ARE TOO SMALL." ONLY SOLD A SMALL NUMBER OF THESE ENGINES IN THE US BUT MANY MANY MORE IN THE UK. SUSPECT THAT CHANGES THE CALCULUS OF HOW THEY HANDLE RESPONSIBILITY. THIS WASN'T SOME RANDOM FAILURE, THEY KNEW IT WAS AN ISSUE, THAT THERE WAS A MORE THAN OFF CHANCE THAT IT WOULD RESULT IN ENGINE DAMAGE, AND WHAT OWNER NUMBER A CAR HAS SHOULDN'T MATTER. SOME NOTICE AND SOLUTION SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFFERED.
