DOOR AJAR SENSOR ,LIGHTS STAY ON, DOORS WONT LOCK. *TR
THE DRIVER DOOR SENSOR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. IT IS SHOWING THAT IT IS AJAR. THIS IN TURN AFFECTS THE VEHICLE IN A MYRIAD OF WAYS. 1:IT DISABLES THE AUTOLOCK FEATURE. I HAVE 3 KIDS IN THE BACKSEAT, AND ONE OF THEM CURIOUSLY OPENED THE DOOR WHILE AT A TRAFFIC STOP. 2:INTERIOR DOME LIGHTING: IT KEEPS THE LIGHTS ON. I HAVE ASTIGMATISM SO THE LIGHT REALLY BOTHERS ME. 3:SINCE THE LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN PARKED, IT DRAINS THE BATTERY 4:THE UNLOCKING SENSOR IS DISABLED ON THE DOOR HANDLE THAT IS AFFECTED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE! THE LOCKING FEATURE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!!!
START DATE IS A BEST GUESS. I ORIGINAL REPORTED THIS PROBLEM WHEN MY FRONT PASSENGER DOOR BEGAN GIVING FALSE DOOR AJAR WARNINGS. NOW IT IS ALL DOORS AND OCCURS MORE FREQUENTLY SETTING OFF CAR ALARM, INTERIOR LIGHTS THAT WON'T GO OUT, ETC ETC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. WHEN THE DOORS WERE CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTING ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOORS DID NOT LOCK AND THE ALARM DID NOT ACTIVATE WHEN PROMPTED. THE FAILURES RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHTS WHEN DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH SEVERAL FORD SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED. THERE ARE DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERNS AS THE FOLLOWING ALSO OCCURS: DOME LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN LEAVING VEHICLE ALLOWING EASY VIEWING OF INTERIOR AND POSSIBLE BATTERY DRAINAGE ALL DOORS WILL NOT LOCK (UNACCEPTABLE) THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THE FALSE WARNING KEEPS DRIVER FROM KNOWING IF THERE IS IN FACT A TRUE DOOR AJAR SITUATION FORD REFUSES TO FIX THIS UNDER WARRANTY SAYING THE DOOR LATCH (WHICH THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS AN INTEGRAL PART) IS A "WEAR AND TEAR" PART AND THEREFORE NOT COVER BY WARRANTY. THIS IS AN ISSUE ON MANY FORD VEHICLES INCLUDING FLEX, EDGE, EXPLORER AND TAURUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DOOR AJAR SENSORS. THE DASH BOARD CLUSTER INDICATES THAT CAR DOORS ARE OPEN ( AJAR ) WHEN THEY ARE NOT. THIS CAUSES INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY UNTIL THE CAR IS DRIVEN, ALARM TO SOUND AT NIGHT, WHICH AT TIMES DRAINS MY BATTERY. AUTO DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK. I REPORTED THIS ONCE BEFORE, HERE AND TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, NOT SURE OF THE DATE, BUT IN 2015 NO RESPONSE!!
AFTER CLOSING THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON, AS ARE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR AWHILE AFTER I START TO DRIVE WHICH BLINDS ME AT NIGHT, BUT THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO SHUT OFF IS TO START DRIVING. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AJAR WARNING BEGAN SHOWING WHILE I WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE DOOR HAS NOT BEEN TOUCHED IN FACT THERE WAS NOT EVEN A PASSENGER IN MY VEHICLE. I TRIED OPENING AND SHUTTING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND WHEN THIS PROBLEM BEGAN AND FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MONTH THE WARNING WOULD RESET. SINCE THEN THE WARNING IS PRESENT APPROXIMATELY 70% OF THE TIME. WHEN THE DOOR AJAR MORNING IS ACTIVE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AT LOW SPEED AND REGARDLESS OF SPEED YOU'RE UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS. THESE ISSUES ARE WHEN THE DOOR AJAR MORNING IS ACTIVE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AT LOW SPEED AND REGARDLESS OF SPEED YOU'RE UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHICH CAUSE OBVIOUS SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUES AS WELL AS THE ADDED DANGER OF NOT BEING AWARE OF AN ACTUAL DOOR AJAR. I TOOK MY FLEX TO SUMMERVILLE FORD AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE BEING AWARE OF MULTIPLE FORD MODELS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, APOLOGIZED FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE WITHOUT MY PAYING FOR IT.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD FLEX SEL WITH 60K+ MILES ORIGINALLY PURCHASED WITH 13K MILES IN 2013. I HAVE HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH MY DOOR LATCH. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH ALL DOORS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MY LEFT BACK DOOR. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE LOOKED AT MULTIPLE TIMES AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WITH MOST RECENTLY THIS PAST WEEKEND. THE MECHANIC ATTEMPTED TO CLEAN MY DOOR LATCHES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE (FRONT AND BACK) DOORS AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I AM UNABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOOK EACH DOOR BY ROLLING DOWN MY WINDOWS AND GETTING OUT AND MANUALLY PUSHING DOWN THE LOCK. HOWEVER, WHILE DRIVING MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON AS WELL AS MY INSIDE LIGHTS,MY DOORS WILL AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK. I CAN'T TURN MY ALARM ON AND 75% OF THE TIME LEAVE MY DOORS UNLOCKED. I ASSUME MY DOOR IS PROMPTED AS IF SOMEONE IS TRYING TO OPEN MY DOOR WHEN MY CAR IS OFF WHICH IN RETURN CAUSES MY ALARM TO GO OFF. IT HAS BEEN MANY TIMES WHEN I HAVE WENT TO THE PARKING GARAGE AND MY LIGHTS ARE FLASHING, OR I GET A CALL THAT MY ALARM IS GOING OFF, OR I AM AWAKENED/STARTLED IN MY HOUSE WHEN IT GOES OFF IN THE GARAGE. MY CONCERN AND FEAR IS THAT SOMEONE WILL OPEN MY DOOR WHILE IM DRIVING/STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED MY BATTERY AND I'M SURE IT WAS DUE TO MY ALARMS CONSTATNLY GOING OFF OR DOME LIGHT/DASH BOARD COMING ON ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IT IS A LONG WAIT ON THE NEW AND IMPROVED REPLACEMENT LATCH. I HAVE SCHEDULEDTO TAKE MY CAR BACK YET AGAIN NEXT MONDAY TO SEE IF I CAN GET ON THE LIST FOR A NEW LATCH. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH HOW FORD IS HANDLING THIS ISSUE. I CALLED THEM TODAY TO SEE IF THEY COULD GIVE ME STEPS ON HOW TO OVERRIDE THE DOOR LOCKS WITH NO SUCCESS. IWAS TOLD TO GET IT REPAIRED AND IF THEY DECIDE TO RECALL I'LL GET A REFUND!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE DOOR LATCH SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE NOT MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
2013 FORD FLEX DOOR AJAR LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND CHIMES PREVENTING DRIVER FROM LOCKING DOORS AS THE ALERT UNLOCKS ALL DOORS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND TURNS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. ISSUE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AND FORD REPS, WHILE ACKNOWLEDGING THE ISSUE AS COMMON IN THE FORD EDGE AND FORD FLEX REFUSE TO CHANGE THE FAULTY DOOR SENSOR SWITCH OPTING TO CHARGE CUSTOMERS $600+ TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE FLAWED DESIGN. CURRENTLY THE SENSOR ALERTS US 10 TO 15 TIMES DURING A 30 MINUTE RIDE. *TR
I FILED A COMPLAINT ON1/16/2014 OF MY BRAND NEW FORD FLEX HAVING A ISSUES WITH HANKOOK TIRES BEING IN THE RED AT 17,000 I FELT THESE TIRES WERE UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE CLAIM NUMBER [XXX]. ON 1/16/2015 I WENT INTO DEALER FOR INSPECTION STICKER AND OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD AT 39,000 THE STEEL WAS SHOWING ON MY TIRES AND IT WOULDN'T PASS INSPECTION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A TIRE AND UNSAFE . HANKOOK WARRANTY ON THESE TIRES OUTSIDE OF FORD IS 60,000. STEEL SHOULD NOT BE SHOWING AT 39000 MILES HENCE TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED. I OWN A 2013 FORD FLEX SEL. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED COMPLETELY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHTS DON'T SHUT OFF AND THE CAR TELLS ME TO SHIFT IN TO PARK. ON THE PERSONAL SIDE THE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE PARKED AND THE BELL RINGS AS IF THE DOOR IS AJAR. I CAN NOT UTILIZE THE REMOTE START. I WOULD AGREE IT'S NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR IF IT WAS ONLY MY CAR. I HAVE SEARCH ONLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A FORD PROBLEM. *TR
FOR A VERY LONG TIME, THE LIGHT INDICATING THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR IS OPEN HAS BEEN COMING ON, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS FIRMLY SHUT. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IT KEEPS THE INSIDE LIGHTS ON IN THE CAR, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT. IN ADDITION, THE CAR DOORS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED (I'M ASSUMING BECAUSE IT THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN?), WHICH WORRIES ME WITH TEENAGE GIRLS DRIVING AT NIGHT. WHEN I TALKED TO SOMEONE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP, HE SAID THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON COMPLAINT (CERTAINLY HELD UP BY ONLINE COMPLAINTS) THAT THIS HAS BEEN A FAULT WITH THE CAR.
BLUETOOTH CONNECTION FAILURE, NAVIGATION FAILURE, CLOCK FAILURE, ON BOARD COMPUTER FAILURE. *TR
THERE IS A DEAD SPOT IN THE ENGINE WHEN YOU TAKE OFF OR WHEN YOU ACCELERATE TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE OR WHEN YOU WANT TO GET ONTO THE HIGHWAY.(DEAD SPOT AKA NO RESPONSE FROM THE GAS PEDAL). I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO PREMIER FORD LINCOLN DEALER SHIP IN BROOKLYN NY TWICE AND THE SAID THE COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED ERRONEOUSLY INDICATING THAT THE DOORS WERE NOT SECURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TWO OF FOUR DOORS ARE ALWAYS REPORTING TO BE AJAR WHEN PHYSICALLY CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON DUE TO DOORS BEING "AJAR" RESULTING IN VISIBILITY ISSUES AT NIGHT. DOORS ALSO WON'T LOCK AT TIMES DUE TO DOORS ALWAYS BEING AJAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND OBVIOUSLY A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD DOOR ASSEMBLIES. TO HAVE TWO DOOR SENSORS GO OUT A MONTH APART AND TO SEE THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM ON THIS SITE AND ACROSS THE INTERNET FORD OBVIOUSLY HAS INSTALLED FAULTY DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLIES ON MULTIPLE MODELS. I AM SURE IT WILL TAKE SOMEONE (OR MULTIPLE SOMEONE'S) GETTING INJURED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. IF ALL THESE CARS TELL THEIR DRIVERS THAT THERE DOORS ARE ALWAYS ADJAR THEN SOON OR LATER THE WARNINGS WILL BE IGNORED AS A KID GETS OUT OF A MOVING CAR.
PROBLEMS STARTED WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR SAYING THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS SHUT. IT WAS EVERY NOW AND THEN UNTIL A MONTH PASSED. THEN, IT JUST SAYS THAT IT IS OPEN ALL THE TIME. NEXT, IT SPREAD TO THE DRIVER DOOR NOT LATCHING. IT LATCHES AND LOCKS, BUT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM CLAIMS BOTH DOORS ARE OPEN AND TELLS YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK. TO MAKE THINGS BETTER THE DRIVER WINDOW NOW ROLLS DOWN WHEN IT WANTS TO. EVERY NOW AND THEN THE TOUCH SCREEN FOR THE RADIO/ NAVIGATION CUTS IN AND OUT. *JS
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND RIGHT BACK PASSENGER AJAR DOOR. IT SAYS ITS OPEN WHEN ITS RUNNING. TOTALLY UNSAFE FOR MY KIDS WHO RIDE IN THE BACK. SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE TO HAVE A BETTER COMFORT WITH MY FAMILY AND DRIVE THEM TO THEIR SCHOOL, SOCCER PRACTICES AND GAMES. :( TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT BOUT THIS ISSUE. WHEN FORD CHARGES ME AROUND $500.00 TO FIX IT, WHEN SUPPOSED TO BE A RECALL FOR FAULTY LATCH.. *TR

THE DRIVER DOOR IS SHOWING AJAR. IT YOU SLAM THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES, THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF. EVERY TIME YOU PUT ON BRAKES, THE CHIMING GOES OFF AND LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE SEEN THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM AND FORD WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. MUST REPLACE ENTIRE LATCH SYSTEM TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON FOR DRIVERS DOOR. BEGIN AS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM RESOLVED BY OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR TILL THE DOOR SENSOR REGISTERED THE DOOR CLOSED. PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE AND 7 MONTHS LATER THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON ALL THE TIME AND THE AUTO DOOR LOCKS DO NOT ENGAGE WHEN DRIVING. I TALKED TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER WHO SAID IT JUST NEEDS OILED AND IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE OILED IT AND CLEANED IT WITH COMPRESSED AIR AND IT HAS DONE NOTHING. IF FORD CAN'T STAND BEHIND THIS KIND OF THING, I'LL BE BUYING A HYUNDAI OR A HONDA NEXT FOR A BETTER WARRANTY AND FOR A HIGHER QUALITY VEHICLE. *TR
2013 FORD FLEX DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DOORS ARE SHUT. DRIVER DOOR AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON DURING INITIAL REVERSE OF VEHICLE CAUSING ZERO VISIBILITY OUT REAR OF VEHICLE INCLUDING SIDE MIRRORS AND REAR VIEW MIRROR. MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF NEAR MISSES DUE TO LOSS OF VISIBILITY.
PURCHASED CAR IN FEB. 2013. IN OCT 2014 I BEGAN TAKING MY FLEX TO SUNLAND FORD SERVICE CENTER DUE TO DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHTS ON BOTH RIGHT SIDE DOORS. THE SERVICE CENTER WOULD DISASSEMBLE AND CLEAN DOOR ASSEMBLY. THERE WOULD BE NO MORE WARNING LIGHTS FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND THEN THE PROBLEM WOULD PERSIST OF THE DOORS APPEARING AJAR. FINALLY, SERVICE CENTER DECIDED TO FULLY REPLACE DOOR ASSEMBLY ON BACK DOOR LATCH BUT PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. SERVICE CENTER REPLACED BACK DOOR ASSEMBLY IN DECEMBER OF 2014. MY PASSENGER DOOR CONTINUES TO SHOW THE DOOR AJAR AND MY WARRANTY EXPIRED FEBRUARY 2015. I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM TODAY AND HAVE CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO WHICH THEY CLAIM THIS IS NOT A KNOWN PROBLEM. THERE ARE SEVERAL SAFETY CONCERNS. 1) IN MOTION: DOME LIGHTS DON'T SHUT OFF HINDERING VISIBILITY FOR THE FIRST 2-5 MINUTES OF NIGHT DRIVING. 2) STATIONARY OR IN MOTION: DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED WHILE CAR IS ON AND PARKED. THIS IS DANGEROUS. 3) MY AUTO DOOR LOCKS QUIT WORKING FOR A TIME AND I CAN ONLY ASSUME IT'S BECAUSE OF THESE DOOR ISSUES.

THE CONTACT REPORTED THAT THE LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED EVEN AFTER ALL DOORS WERE CHECKED AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. AS A RESULT, THE DOORS WERE UNABLE TO BE LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
FORD HAS A FAULTY PART BUILT INTO THE FORD FLEX. THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS FAULTY ON MOST FORD FLEX AND EDGE. WHILE THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON RESULTING IN THE DOORS NOT LOCKING. EVEN IF YOU PRESS THE AUTOMATIC LOCK THEY SIMPLY UNLOCK. FORD IS NOT WILLING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OR FIX THE ISSUE. THE WAY THE FAULTY PART IS BUILT INTO THE LOCK MECHANISM REQUIRES THE OWNER TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE LOCK MECHANISM. THIS PART COST $230.00 AND DUE TO THE NUMBER OF ISSUES IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET CURRENTLY. NOTICED UNUSUAL SQUEAK / RATTLE FROM FRONT ENGINE AREA OF MY 2013 FORD FLEX AWD VEHICLE. AT THE SAME TIME STEERING FELT LOOSE OR SLOPPY. THESE SYMPTOMS GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AS I IMMEDIATELY DROVE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 8 MILES TO REPAIR FACILITY. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR WAS FAILING AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT STEERING COULD FAIL AT ANY MOMENT. TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT FORD HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AT THAT TIME. I AUTHORIZED AND PAID FOR THE REPAIR OF MY VEHICLE. RECENTLY, I DISCOVERED THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE 15S18 FOR THIS ISSUE. ON MONDAY JULY 27, 2015, I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS INFORMED BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AND THAT THEY COULD PROVIDE NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. SOMETIMES YOU CAN SHUT THE DOOR 4-5X AND THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR WILL GO OFF, BUT MOST OF THE TIME, YOU HAVE TO JUST DEAL WITH IT.. UNSAFE AND ALL. ALSO, THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND PARKED CAUSES THE ALARM ON THE VEHICLE TO GO OFF AT RANDOM TIMES...USUALLY ALL THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! THIS IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MONTHS. FORD WILL NOT COVER THIS AS THEY SAY MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE COST IS ESTIMATED $600 TO REPAIR. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED APRIL/2014 WHILE MY FLEX WAS IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY AND SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START FOR ABOUT SIX HOURS. I DID NOTHING TO DIAGNOSE OR TROUBLESHOOT, IT JUST STARTED AFTER SITTING FOR THAT TIME FRAME. IT DID NOT GO TO THE SHOP. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED JUNE 11, 2014 WHILE I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 5 MINUTES FROM MY HOME. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 30 MPH, I COASTED TO A HALT IN A TRAFFIC LANE AND IT WOULD NOT START. IT WOULD CRANK, BUT NOT TURN OVER JUST LIKE THE FIRST INCIDENT. IT WAS TOWED TO A SHOP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT GETTING POWER, BUT BEFORE IT COULD BE ISOLATED THE VEHICLE STARTED. THE TECH ADVISED SINCE IT STARTED THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING FURTHER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE BATTLEFIELD FORD DEALER AND TOLD THEM THE ISSUE. IT WAS DUE FOR A RECALL WHICH WOULD SWITCH OUT THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE AND WAS ADVISED THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE WAS PERFORMED. ON JUNE 26, 2014 MY WIFE GOT IN THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING AFTER IT HAD SAT IN THE DRIVEWAY ALL NIGHT, AND WHEN SHE HIT THE START BUTTON IT TOOK MANY MORE CRANKS THAN USUAL FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. AS SOON AS SHE TURNED FROM THE DRIVEWAY IT STARTED SPUTTERING AND FLUTTERING AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF DOWN THE BLOCK FROM OUR HOME. SHE COASTED TO A HALT, THE VEHICLE DID START AGAIN AND SHE PARKED IT IN OUR DRIVEWAY. IT WOULD CRANK AND CRANK BUT WOULD TURN OVER. I CALLED THE DEALER AND HAD IT TOWED THERE, FORTUNATELY I HAVE AAA. MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY TO DUE TO MILEAGE. AS IT STANDS NOW THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. WE LIVE IN NORTHERN VA AND TRAVEL I-95 FREQUENTLY AND IF THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN OFF WHILE TRAVELING THERE IT COULD BE TRAGIC. WE DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR ANYMORE AND WILL MORE THAN LIKELY TRADE IT ONCE THE DEALER FIDDLES WITH IT. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK. THE MECHANISM THAT RECOGNIZES THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS CLOSED DOESN'T WORK. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED ON AND SUBSEQUENTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP OR VERY SLOW SPEED (LIKE A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT) THE ALARM SOUNDS AGAIN (A PINGING SOUND WITH A VISUAL ALERT THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN WITH AN MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK). HOWEVER, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE DOOR IS OPENED AND SHUT, THE ALARM DOESN'T GO OFF. THIS MEANS THAT DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR. WHEN THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK THE DOORS WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR, THE LOCK IMMEDIATELY SNAPS BACK UP BECAUSE OF THE DOOR WARNING. EVEN MANUALLY LOCKING THE DOOR DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE OF THE ALARM. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BOTH WHEN DRIVING BUT ALSO WHEN STATIONARY. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO LOCK MY CAR DOORS IN THE EVENT THERE ARE SAFETY CONCERNS NEARBY SO THAT NO ONE CAN GET INTO THE CAR WHILE WE ARE IN A PARKING LOT OR AT A LIGHT. I MENTIONED THIS TO THE FORD DEALER WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHARGE $300 JUST TO LOOK AT IT.
WE HAVE 16,980 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AND BOUGHT THE VEHICLE 1 YEAR AND 3 MONTHS AGO BRAND NEW. THE TIRES ARE HANKOOK H426, 255/45/R20. DOT 5MNB PDLH 4112, 4112, 4112, AND2012. THE CAR STEERS STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW. THE FORD DEALER HAS VERIFIED ALL IS WELL WITH THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING. WE HAVE FOUND ALL FOUR TIRES, ARE STARTING TO PEEL APART ON THE INNER AND OUTER ROW OF TREADS ONLY. TO DATE, THERE ARE 100 PEEL BACKS AND AS MANY HOLES. ALL OF THE UN-WRAPPINGS ARE APPROXIMATELY 10MM IN DIAMETER, 1-2MM DEEP, SHAPED LIKE A TEAR DROP. SOME OF THE POINTS OF THE TEARDROPS FACE TO THE FRONT OF THE TIRE ROTATION AND OTHERS FACE DIRECTLY TO THE REAR OF THE TIRE ROTATION. THE RUBBER IS PEELED BACK AT THE POINT OF THE TEARDROP, AND AFTER A FEW DAYS, THE TEARDROP IS TORN OFF, LEAVING A TEAR DROPPED SHAPED HOLE 1-2MM DEEP. THIS IS A FAMILY VEHICLE, WITH THREE SMALL KIDS. WE DO NOT TOW WITH THE CAR AND WE KEEP THE TIRE PRESSURE @ 37 PSIG. WE DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT EVERYWHERE. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD, OCCASIONALLY PARKING IN A GRAVEL PARKING LOT, AT SLOW SPEEDS. THE FORD DEALER HAS CONTACTED HANKOOK, AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THESE TIRES ARE FAILING, A SAFETY HAZARD, AND HANKOOK SHOULD REPLACE ALL 4 OF THESE TIRES, NOW, FOR FREE. *JS
