WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR JUST STOPS. NO POWER, CANNOT TURN WHEEL, GAS NOR BRAKE PEDAL WORKS. HAVE TO RESTART BY PUSHING IGNITION BUTTON. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES ALREADY AND IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
THIS IS THE SYMPTOM HERE: SUMMARY FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 FORD FUSION VEHICLES WITHOUT A 3.5L ENGINE AND LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLES, 2011 MERCURY MILAN VEHICLES, 2011-2012 FORD TAURUS, FORD FLEX, LINCOLN MKS, AND LINCOLN MKT VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.5L GTDI ENGINE AND 2013 FORD TAURUS, FORD FLEX, LINCOLN MKS, AND LINCOLN MKT VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ANY AVAILABLE ENGINE. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEMS THAT MAY SHUT DOWN AS A RESULT OF A STEERING MOTOR SENSOR FAULT. CONSEQUENCE IF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST, EXTRA STEERING EFFORT WILL BE REQUIRED AT LOWER SPEEDS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH. WHAT OWNERS SHOULD DO FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL CHECK THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC). IF DEALERS FIND ANY LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST DTCS, THE STEERING GEAR WILL BE REPLACED, FREE OF CHARGE. IF, NO CODES ARE FOUND DURING THE PSCM INSPECTION, THE PSCM SOFTWARE WILL BE UPDATED, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 21, 2015. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-866-436-7332. FORD'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 15S18.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD OVERHEAT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. WHEN MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING MADE ABNORMAL NOISES. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. FOX GRAND TRAVERSE (3464 US-31, TRAVERSE CITY, MI 49684, (231) 922-2000) INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
2ND ROW SEAT BELTS NOT WORKING OR BROKEN. DRIVER SIDE IS NOT LATCHING OR RETRACTING, SO NONE CAN USE THAT SEAT. PASSENGER SIDE THE BUCKLE COVER WONT STAY ON, AND IT HAS SOME SMALL SHARP OBJECTS THAT CAN CUT SOMEONE OR MY KIDS.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY WHEN THE CAR LOST ALL ABILITY TO STEER .WE WENT OFF THE ROAD INTO A GRASS MEDIAN STRIP . HAD THE CAR TOWED TO 5 STAR FORD AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF SENSOR PROBLEMS . WHEN I ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECAL ON IT I WAS TOLD NO I DID NOT HAVE THE $6,200.00 FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE RACK TWO SENSORS AND RED LASH THE COMPUTER SO THE CAR IS IN MY DRIVE WAY WAITING FOR THE FUNDS TO BE REPAIRED .THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS POWER STEERING SYSTEM WHEN IT WENT OUT I LOST TOTAL ABILITY TO STEER
THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST MONTH. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR TO A LOCATION, TURNING THE CAR OFF THEN RETURNING TO THE CAR TO LEAVE, THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER, BUT WILL NOT FIRE. THE INDICATORS SHOW THE CAR RUNNING, I.E. DASH LIGHTS ON EVEN AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. THE SMELL OF GASOLINE IS PRESENT.
TAKATA RECALL , I TOOK MY CAR TO MEL HAMBELTON FORD, FOR A VEHICLE HEALTH INSPECTION AND NEVER WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE FSA TITLE SYNC WITH MYFORD MYLINCOLN TOUGH WZARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE APIM , BUT WAS UNDER PRIMARY CONCERNS DIAG. AND REPLACE APIM FOR BLANK SCREEN, YET WHEN I GET ON FORD PASS I LEARN OF THIS ISSUE, NEVER THE DEALER THAT SOLD MY THE CAR OR THE FORD DEALERSHIP OFFER TO ASSIST ME ARE CHECKED THE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE12/13/18
DOOR SENSOR ON FRONT PASSENGER DOOR STAYS ON CAUSING DOME TO STAY ON. RUNS BATTERY DEAD KEEPS PANEL LIGHTS ON. ALREADY REPLACED BACK PASSENGER DOOR UNDER WARRANTY LAST YEAR. AT 60000 MILES WARRANTY IS OUT AND COST IS $500 TO FIX. I HAVE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE.. I CANNOT LET ANYONE SIT IN MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FOR FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SHUT DOOR FOR DOOR SENSOR TO GO OFF AND NOT COME OUT TO A DEAD BATTERY. NOW THE DOOR OPEN LIGHT COMES ON WITHOUT THE DOOR BEING OPENED AND WON'T GO OFF. THIS CAUSES DO.E LIGHTS TO STAY ON RESULTING IN DRAINING THE BATTERY..THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A BIG ISSUE NOW. AS I HAVE READ THERE IS A LAWSUIT..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ABILITY BECAME DIFFICULT AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING ASSIST" ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SMART FORD (1103 MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD, MALVERN, AR 72104) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FOR CERTAIN 2013 FORD FLEX'S. RECALL 15S18. THE MANUFACTURER SAYS THAT MINE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE BUT THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT ON MY VEHICLE, IT LOCKED UP AROUND A CURVE WHEN I WAS DOING ABOUT 50 MILES AN HOUR. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN RIGHT, I CROSSED A LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HIT A TREE ON SUNDAY 11 18 18. I WAS ON HIGHWAY 70 IN KINGSTON TENNESSEE, HEADED EASTBOUND. THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY LOOSE AND IN A BIND AS IF THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED WITH KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HIT THE TREE DOING ABOUT 35 MPH TO 40 MPH WHEN STEERING BECAME INOP AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT EVEN DEPLOY. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE FROM 50 MPH TO AROUND 35 MILES AN HOUR BEFORE STRIKING THE TREE OR COULD'VEBEEN MUCH WORSE. I SUSTAINED SHOULDER INJURY AND CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THIS VEHICLE BECOMES PART OF THE RECALL BECAUSE I COULD HAVE VERY EASILY HIT SOMEBODY HEAD ON AND KILLED SOMEONE OR MYSELF. VERY THANKFUL TO BE HERE BUT THIS COULD HAVE EASILY COST ME MY LIFE.
I HAVE HAD TWO DOOR LATCHES FAIL IN THE SAME VEHICLE WITHIN 2 YEARS OF EACH OTHER. NO MATTER WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR STATIONARY, I GET A WARNING STATING THE RIGHT FRONT (AND PREVIOUSLY THE RIGHT REAR) DOOR WAS NOT CLOSED WHEN IN FACT IT WAS. THERE IS A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE DOOR LATCHES. THIS ALSO PREVENTS THE CHILD LOCKS FROM ENGAGING SINCE IT THINKS THE DOORS ARE OPEN.
THE STEERING IS OFF WHEN TURNING LEFT, RIGHT AND WHILE SWITCHING LANES. IT'S VERY HARD TO STEER. IT FEELS LIKE A MANUAL SHIFT DRIVING VEHICLE INSTEAD OF AUTOMATIC, HAVING TO USE BOTH HANDS JUST TO TURN THE VEHICLE. IT WASN'T AS HARD AT FIRST TO STEER. YOU COULD TELL THE STEERING WAS OFF BUT STILL MANAGEABLE. HOWEVER, NOW IT'S AT THE POINT IT'S A MUST TO GET FIXED. WE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT FIXED NOW. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP BUT WAS INFORMED THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC RECALLS FOR MY VIN#. I THEN CALLED THE NUMBER ON OWNER.FORD.COM WEBSITE AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE WHO ALSO SAID MY VIN DOESN'T HAVE ANY RECALLS FOR STEERING. I REFERENCED THE RECALL# 15S18 AS IT RELATES TO MY PROBLEM. I WAS STILL INFORMED MY VIN# IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL BUT TO HOLD ONTO MY RECEIPT FROM THE REPAIR SHOP IN CASE IT HAPPENS TO BECOME PART OF THE RECALL THEN WE CAN FORWARD THEM THE RECEIPT. *TR
2013 FORD FLEX - DOOR SENSOR KEEPS THINKING IT IS OPEN. IT PREVENTS US FROM LOCKING THE DOORS, BOTH PARKED AND IN MOTION. IT ALLOWS OUR CHILDREN TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE IN MOTION BECAUSE THE DOORS WILL NOT LATCH. ISSUE IS STILL OCCURRING. IT STARTED A MONTH AGO (START OF NOVEMBER 2018), HOWEVER NOW DOES IT EVERY TIME WE ARE GETTING INTO OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE. ISSUE WHILE DRIVING: WHEN THE SENSOR IS SENSING THE DOOR AS "OPEN", THE LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE STAY ON FOR OVER 3 MILES OF DRIVING BEFORE THEY WILL TURN OFF - DAY OR NIGHT CAUSING A BACK LIGHT (GLARE) ISSUE DURING NIGHT TIME DRIVING. ISSUE WHILE STOPPED, BOTH SITTING IN AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE: THE LIGHTS DO NOT TURN OFF AND RUNS DOWN THE BATTERY OF MY VEHICLE. I TIMED THE LIGHTS AFTER GETTING HOME AND AT 30 MINUTES I STOPPED THE TIMER - AS IT WAS TOO COLD TO CONTINUE. I HAD TO SHUT THE DOOR 12 TIMES BEFORE THE SENSOR FINALLY SENSED A "CLOSED" DOOR AND SHUT THE LIGHTS OFF.
WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING CAR SHUT DOWN AND WAS UNABLE TO STARE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE FEATURE FAILED INTERMITTENTLY BOTH WITH AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE SENSOR WAS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE'S CRUISE CONTROL, WHICH FAILED TO OPERATE WHEN THE SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EVERGREEN FORD LINCOLN (1500 18TH AVENUE NW, ASSAQUAH, WA 98027) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING BELT WAS STRETCHED. SINCE THE TIMING BELT WAS DIRECTLY LINKED TO THE WATER PUMP, A NEW ENGINE WAS RECOMMENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS ARE SHUT ALL THE WAY, BUT THE CAR SENSES THEM AS OPEN AND KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON WITH A DOOR AJAR WARNING ON THE DASHBOARD. THERE WAS A TSB PERFORMED ON MY CAR FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE. I HAVE TO TRY OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR TO GET IT TO SHOW AS SHUT. IT CAN CAUSE THE CAR ALARM TO GO OFF AT TIMES. THE WARNING CAN COME ON WHILE I'M DRIVING, LONG AFTER I SHUT THE DOOR.
CAR JUST DIES IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND THE STEERING SYSTEMLOCKS UP. THERE HAS BEEN A KNOWN RECALL FOR A FUEL CONTROL MODULE ON FORD FLEX, THERE IS ALSO KNOWN FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS WITH FORD MAKES AND MODELS. I HAVE LOST POWER TWICE. HAD AT THE MECHANIC LAST MONTH. COULD NOT GET IT TO DIE FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK IN THE SHOP. NOW IT IS DEAD IN A PARKING LOT AGAIN.
ID NUMBER 16V621000 ISN'T ASSOCIATED WITH MY FORD FLEX 2013 EVEN THOUGHT THE FUEL MODULE FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND LEFT US STRANDED
I WAS DRIVING DOWN MAIN STREET WHEN MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE MEDIAN TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON, BUT IT STILL WOULD COULD I PUTTED ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC. PARKED ON A SIDE STREET, TURNED IT OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE. I RESTARTED AND IT DROVE FINE. IT DID THIS EXACT SAME THING 2 DAYS BEFORE. A YELLOW WRENCH APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD AS THE ISSUE IS HAPPENING, BUT IS NOT PRESENT ANY OTHER TIME. THE VEHICLE HAS AROUND 80,000 MILES ON IT. I AM CALLING FORD TODAY.
FUEL CONTROL MODULE FAILED LEADING TO VEHICLE FAILING TO START. ENGINE WOULD CRANK/TURN OVER BUT NO FUEL DELIVERED. DEALER DIAGNOSED AFTER VEHICLE WAS TOWED FOR SERVICE. FUEL PUMP DETERMINED TO BE GOOD AFTER BYPASSING FUEL CONTROL MODULE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT TIME OF FAILURE.
Back-up camera shows blank screen, wiggle lines throughout, states to contact dealer for service, or shows up upside down and backwards. I took my vehicle to the Bill Brown Ford dealership 04Sep18. I paid $112 to be told camera was failing and was quoted a minimum of $650 to replace. I declined as the vehicle was only 5 years old and was hoping for a recall. I now see many newer vehicles were just recalled for the same issue.
DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCH. THE LATCH REPORTS "DOOR AJAR" WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED, UNLOCKING ALL DOORS AT ALL TIMES.
HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE MOTOR STALLING OUT AND NOT STARTING FOR DAYS. I'VEBPARKED AFTER FILLING IT UP AND PARKING IT FOR THE NIGHT. ONLY TO GO OUT IN THE MORNING AND NOT STARTING. THEN AFTER A FEW DAYS OF SITTING IT WOULD START.
PASSENGER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH DOOR CLOSED (CONSTANT - WHETHER STOPPED OR MOVING). IT'S BEEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. IT KEEPS LIGHTS ON INSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE MIRRORS I'VE HEARD (ONLINE) IT COULD BE A SENSORY ISSUE, BUT I FEAR IT MAY BE A FAULTY LATCH ISSUE. WHEN I FELT THE LATCH, IT SEEMED SLUGGISH (I CAN PUSH IT A LITTLE AND IT STAYS - DOESN'T SPRING BACK TO EITHER OPEN OR CLOSED). I FEEL THE LATCH IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND MAY NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. I ALSO WORRY THAT THE BATTERY WILL DIE BECAUSE IT KEEPS LIGHTS ON.
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT. PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND THE AA8A-9D412-CA FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS EXTREMELY HOT AND VEHICLE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. PULLED CONNECTOR AND LET THE RELAY COOL. REINSTALLED CONNECTOR AND VEHICLE STARTED WITH NO ISSUES. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I ORDERED A NEW RELAY AND REPLACED THE UNIT. VEHICLE WAS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH TRAFFIC AROUND. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
AT 55,000 STARTED UP CAR PUT IN DRIVE AND THE POWER DRIVING ASSIT WENT ON STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND FLUSHED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,717.
PASSENGER FRONT DOOR AJAR WARNING IS DISPLAYED, EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS CLOSED AND LOCKED. BECAUSE THE COMPUTER THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON CAUSING A VISIBILITY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. ALSO, WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE AND LOCKING THE DOORS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR 10-15 MINUTES.THIS WILL DRAW ATTENTION TO THE VEHICLE AND LET PASSERBY'S VIEW THE INTERIOR CONTENTS LEFT IN THE VEHICLE FOR POSSIBLE THEFT. THIS STARTED AS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND NOW IS CONSTANT EVERY TIME THE DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED, THERE IS NO CHANGE OF THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR STATUS.
I BOUGHT MY 2013 FLEX IN JULY OF 2015. IN AUGUST OF 2018 MY BACK PASSENGER DOOR STARTED READING AS OPEN, AT ALL TIMES. CAUSING INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON. ALSO THE CAR ALARM STARTED GOING OFF AT RANDOM TIMES.
WELL I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET AND A LIGHT COME UP SAID POWER STEERING SERVICE AFTER 10 SECONDS THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN SUPER HARD TO TURN AND TURN TO THE RIGHT SIDE THANK GOD I DID NOT HIT A CAR BUT I CALL TO THE DEALER I TELL THEM THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE STEERING GEAR RACK AND THEY SAID NOT FOR MY CAR WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING AND ALL FORD FLEX 2013 THE PART COST $1300 BRAND NEW PLUS LABOR I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND THE SEAT BELT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY
WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED THE POWER ASSIST GOES OUT AND BECOMES MANUAL STEERING WHICH IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS.IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIME CAUSING US AN EXPENSE EACH TIME. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THIS YEAR AND MAKE FOR THE STEERING BUT FOR SOME REASON FORD IS NOT COVERING ALL OF THEM. OURS IS ONE OF THEM NOT COVERED AND WE OBVIOUSLY HAVE THE PROBLEM.
I FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO AGO AND HAVEN'T HEARD BACK. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU WOULD RESPOND WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS.
DRIVER DOOR LATCH/RELAY SWITCH NOT WORKING PROPERLY. DRIVER DOOR SHOWS AJAR EVEN WHEN PROPERLY SHUT. INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS STAY ILLUMINATED AT NIGHT CAUSING A DRIVING HAZARD AS THE CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN. REPEATED DOOR AJAR, ENGINE ON AND SHIFT TO PARK WARNINGS SHOWN ON SCREEN. THE WARNINGS ARE RANDOM AND HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, IN PARK, IN GEAR WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. WHILE DRIVING THE DOOR IS SEEN AS SHUT AND THE NEXT MOMENT IT "APPEARS" OPEN TO THE CAR COMPUTER ALERTING THE WARNING. THE WARNINGS MAY BE CONSTANT FOR DAYS THEN NOT OCCUR FOR AN HOUR AND BEGIN AGAIN. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD AND AFFLICTS MANY, MANY FLEX OWNERS. A DOOR LATCH, WHICH CONTAINS THE SWITCH RELAY, HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE ON THE VEHICLE.
I PARKED THE VEHICLE ON THE MALL PARKING LOT ON MID-DAY OF JULY 11, 2018 IN CYPRESS, CA. AS I TURNED ON IGNITION TO START THE ENGINE, IT FAILED TO RUN. IMMEDIATELY I SUSPECTED THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT SUPPLYING ENOUGH FUEL TO THE INJECTORS; I CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR TOWING SERVICE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE ADVISOR WILL NOT COVER THIS BROKEN PART -FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE BECAUSE THE RECALL ONLY APPLIES TO THE ECO BOOST ENGINE BUT NOT ON MY FLEX WHICH IS NATURALLY-ASPIRATED. I LEFT THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS WHICH THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ENGINE FAILURE, SO I DROVE THE CAR HOME WHICH UNFORTUNATELY FAILED TO RUN THE NEXT DAY UNTIL TODAY. WHAT WILL I DO WITH THIS FORD FLEX FOR ME TO USE?
2 ISSUES 1) THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR THOUGH CLOSED IS READ AS A WARNING "DOOR AJAR". THE WARNING STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES. IT DRAINS THE BATTERY AND I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY ONCE SINCE OWNING THE 2013 FORD FLEX WHEN PURCHASED IN 2016 WITH JUST UNDER 20,000 MILES ON IT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FROM STARTING THE ENGINE UNTIL ACCELERATED SPEED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER PARKED STAY ON FOR A MINIMUM OF 30 MINUTES THOUGH IT COULD BE LONGER CONTRIBUTING TO DRAINING THE VEHICLE BATTERY. 2) THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FEEL AS IF IT IS PULLED WHILE IN COMMUTE. NOT STARTING RIGHT AWAY OR SHUTS DOWN/STALLS. IT HAS STALLED AND NOT TURNED OVER THOUGH THE LIGHTS AND RADIO WORK. FORTUNATELY THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER BEING PARKED IN MY PARKING SPOT. IT WILL NOT TURN OVER, BUT THE NEXT MORNING IT WILL START. AFTER READING ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES FOR OTHER FORD FLEX VEHICLES LAST WEEK WITH MY VEHICLE DOING THE ABOVE ACTION I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY MODULE. WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE REAR PASSENGER AREA BETWEEN REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND FURTHEST REAR WINDOW WHERE THE SEAT BELT PULLS FROM I FELT I HAD RESOLVED THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, A WEEK EXACTLY LATER I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE WHEN THE EXACT SCENARIO HAPPENED ALL OVER AGAIN. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, BUT LIGHTS AND RADIO WORKED. LEFT ALONE OVERNIGHT I WENT TO START IT THIS MORNING AND IT STARTS. THROUGH OUT THE DURATION OF THIS ISSUE OF STALLING, NOT STARTING, PULLING WHILE IN MOTION AS IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS BEING JERKED THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR WHEN CHECKING SYSTEM THE ONLY WARNING IS PASSENGER SEAT AJAR.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COME ON THE DASH EVEN THOUGH ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. THE DOOR UNLOCKS AFTER LOCKING DUE TO THE CAR THINKING THE DOOR IS OPEN. THIS IS THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THE LIGHT WILL RANDOMLY GO OFF AND ON WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING THE DOOR.THIS ALSO CAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON WHICH IS NOT SAFE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT.
WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IT WOULD CRANK, BUT NOT START. VEHICLE WAS IN AN OUTDOOR PUBLIC PARKING LOT ASSOCIATED WITH A RESTAURANT AFTER A VERY WARM DAY OF DRIVING AROUND TOWN ON PERSONAL ERRANDS. SITUATION OCCURRED AFTER DINNER ON A FRIDAY EVENING. A MAJOR WEEKEND INCONVENIENCE, BUT THE ISSUE IS THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM FOR SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT APPLY TO OUR VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN THE SAME CLASS? RECALL NUMBER: 16V621000 , FORD NUMBER: 16S31. THE PROBLEM: "FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE". COST TO REPAIR: $380.87. SAFETY ISSUE: CONSIDERABLE INTERNET DOCUMENTATION WHERE EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE PRESENTING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALL ON BOARD THE VEHICLE. RECALL SHOULD COVER ALL CLASS VEHICLES, NOT SOME UNIDENTIFIED PRIVILEGED SUBSET.
POWER WINDOW FAILURE ON ALL 4 WINDOWS. JUST STOPPED WORKING

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GREENE FORD COMPANY (2365 BROWN BRIDGE RD, GAINESVILLE, GA 30504, 770-532-5620), BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.
CAR OVERHEATS AND COOLANT LEAKS.
DOOR LOCK SENSORS. DOOR LOCK SENSORS FAILING TO RECOGNIZE WHEN THE DOORS ARE SHUT SO CONSTANTLY SHOWING DOORS AJAR. THIS HAS DRAINED MY BATTERY TO THE POINT WHERE IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DOOR SENSOR WAS REPLACED ALSO. THE COST OF THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY $500. NOW TWO MORE SENSORS ARE BAD. I LEAVE MY HOUSE BEFORE SUNRISE. WHEN I GET IN MY CAR IN THE MORNING MY INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF UNTIL MY VEHICLE REACHES AN ACCELERATED SPEED. SO I AM PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY UNABLE TO SEE DUE TO INTERIOR LIGHTS HOPING THAT MY NEIGHBORS WHO RUN ARE NOT BEHIND MY VEHICLE OR THE CHILDREN AT THE BUS STOP ACROSS THE STREET ARE CLEAR FROM MY VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, MY ELDERLY MOTHER HAS GOTTEN INTO MY CAR AND FORGOTTEN TO SHUT HER PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. AFTER DRIVING FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES, I REALIZED THAT IN FACT HER DOOR WAS OPEN BUTTHE SENSOR ALWAYS SHOWS IT AS OPEN. I NOW AM FACED WITH SPENDING ANOTHER $700+ TO HAVE THE SENSORS REPLACED. THIS PUTS MY TOTAL INVESTMENT IN SENSOR REPLACEMENT AT OVER $1200. THIS IS ALMOST ONE OF MY PAYCHECKS OR TWO WEEKS WORTH OF PAY! IT IS A SACRIFICE I HAVE TO MAKE AS FORD HAS PRODUCED A DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE PRODUCT. I CAN NO LONGER KNOWINGLY PUT MY FAMILY AND THOSE AROUND ME AT RISK ALTHOUGH FORD WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT.
MY 2013 FORD FLEX WON'T START AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A VAPOR LOCK ISSUE. THEY FIXED IT FOR $140 PLUS DOLLARS AND YET, HERE I AM AGAIN WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FUEL PUMP RECALL LIST. THIS TIME AROUND, I HAD RUN A FEW ERRANDS AFTER ATTENDING MY CHILD'S SCHOOL EVENT, CAME HOME AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR ABOUT ONE HOUR LATER. IT WAS A WARM DAY (AROUND 88 DEGREES). I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW FRUSTRATING THIS IS. WITH KIDS, I NEED
STEERING IS STIFF WHEN TURNING LEFT TO RIGHT. FEELS LIKE EASY/HARD-HI/LOW SENSATION. ALSO HIGH PITCH SQUEAL WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL. NOISE IS COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

AFTER THE FIRST FAILURE, THE CONTACT INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY AND RESET THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RESTART. UPON THE SECOND OCCURRENCE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CITED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V621000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD FLEX AND THE DOORS ALWAYS SAY THEY ARE OPEN EVEN THOUGHT THEY ARE CLOSED. IT CAUSES ME NOT TO BE ABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS, THE DOME LIGHT TO STAY ON WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN REVERSING AT NIGHT OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, AND I BELIEVE IT'S UNSAFE BEING THAT I HAVE CHILDREN AND I CAN'T KNOW WHETHER OR NOT THE DOORS ARE CLOSED ACCURATELY. I'VE CONTACTED FORD SEVERAL TIMES AND GET THE RUN AROUND. THE DOME LIGHT WILL STAY ON UNTIL I'VE HIT 10MPH. REVERSING WITH A BRIGHT DOME LIGHT ON IS VERY DANGEROUS. I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE THE LIGHT STAYS ON.
