VEHICLE IS NOT GETTING ANY GAS DO TO FAULTY FUEL PUMP, ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF, THIRD TIME REPLACING LATCH, ONE TWICE,
PASSENGER REAR DOOR SENSOR THINKS DOOR IS OPEN AT ALL TIMES. EFFECT ALARM SYSTEM, ETC. VEHICLE HAS APPRX 65000 MILES.
THE SENSOR FOR THE RIGHT REAR DOOR BEING CLOSED IS COMING ON WHEN THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. THIS IS ALSO CAUSING THE CAR'S DOOR OPENING SENSORS TO BE ACTIVATED, MAKING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS, HEAD AND TAIL LIGHTS, AND KEYLESS ENTRY LIGHTS TO TURN ON SPORADICALLY. BECAUSE THE DOOR OPEN SENSOR LIGHT IS ON ALL OF THE TIME, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETECT WHEN THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY OPEN, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. THE COMPANY IS AWARE OF THIS DEFECT PER BULLETIN SB-10054930-1306 AND HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THE DEFECT DID NOT OCCUR ON MY VEHICLE UNTIL IT WAS WELL BEYOND ITS NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY.
SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND COLLISION WARNING NOT AVAILABLE NOTIFICATIONS PRESENT WHEN DRIVING, SPECIFICALLY OCCURRING WHEN TURNING. FORD DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM) WAS DETECTING A MOTOR POSITION SENSOR FAULT AND RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR. I SPOKE WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE GRAND LEDGE MICHIGAN FORD DEALERSHIP REGARDING RECALL SAFETY RECALL 15S18 AND BOTH INDICATED THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT IF MY VIN MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL IF THE RECALL STATES FORD FLEX MODELS 2011-2013 ASSEMBLED IN OAKVILLE FOR ALL ENGINES.
DOOR AJAR INDICATOR REMAINS ON WHEN DOOR IS NOT AJAR. ALSO, ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY USUALLY WHEN PARKED AND LOCKED.
I PARKED MY CAR TO GO FOOD SHOPPING AND WHEN I CAME BACK TO LEAVE, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOCKED AND IT WOULD NOT TURN
THE ELECTRIC STEERING IS MAKING A CLUNK NOISE WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. (CAN'T REALLY HEAR IT AT HIGHER SPEEDS) THAT IS AN EARLY WARNING OF AN EPAS FAILURE. (ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST STEERING) EVENTUALLY THE STEERING WILL WHINE AND FAIL WHEN DRIVING GOING INTO MANUAL MODE. THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! SINCE MY WIFE IS DRIVING THE CAR WITH MY YOUNG DAUGHTER IT HAS ME NERVOUS AND WORRIED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING AND ASSIST TRAX WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BOB WONDRIES FORD 400 S ATLANTIC BLVD, ALHAMBRA, CA 91801 (626) 289-3591) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL MODULE MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED RECALLS ONLINE AND FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.
FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2013-2015 FORD TAURUS, FORD FLEX, LINCOLN MKS AND LINCOLN MKT VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 3.5L GTDI ECOBOOST ENGINES AND 2013-2015 FORD TAURUS POLICE INTERCEPTOR VEHICLES. A COMPONENT WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP ELECTRIC MODULE (PEM) MAY OVERHEAT CAUSING A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP. CONSEQUENCE A LOSS OF POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL OR PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. WHAT OWNERS SHOULD DO FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FUEL PEM PART NUMBER AND REPLACE THE FUEL PEM, AS NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 1, 2016. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-866-436-7332. FORD'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 16S31. I HAD THIS PART SUDDENLY GO OUT ON ME ON 6/22/2017 AND HAD IT TOWED TO MY DEALERSHIP. I HAD RECEIVED AN OIL CHANGE AT OUR LOCAL WALMART AND WHEN THEY WENT TO PULL IT OUT OF THE GARAGE THE CAR WOULD NOT START. SO I HAD IT TOWED. I HAD THIS PART REPLACED 6/23/2017 AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN # WAS NOT ISSUED FOR THE RECALL. EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMITTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED WHERE THE RECALLS CAME FROM AND THE DATES OF PRODUCTIONS OF THE RECALL. THIS VEHICLE MET THOSE CONDITION BUT FOR SOME REASON MY VIN WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST SO THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR MY PART OR LABOR TO REMOVE AND REPLACE IT.
OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS, AS I AM DRIVING MY VEHICLE, MY STEERING WILL SEIZE AND STOP OPERATING. THE COMPUTER COMES UP WITH THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE, "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE". I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. THE INFORMATION IS AS FOLLOWS: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 15V340000, FORD FLEX 2011-2013, FORD RECALL #15S18. I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, BIRD KULTGEN, AND THEY STATED THAT IT DOES NOT PERTAIN TO MY VEHICLE BECAUSE WHEN THEY PULLED MY VIN, IT DID NOT GIVE THEM A RECALL MESSAGE. I CALLED THE FORD COMPANY AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING. THE RECALL LISTED IS FOR FORD FLEX 2013, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE. BOTH THE FORD DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS THE COMPANY STATED - SORRY. ISN'T IT POSSIBLE FOR THIS TO HAVE AN EFFECT ON OTHER VIN'S AS WELL? THAT IS WHAT I WAS ASKING FOR THEM TO LOOK INTO. IF MY STEERING FAILS, AND I AM ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH IS WHAT I DRIVE DAILY TO WORK, I WILL CRASH. THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS FORD STATED - MAYBE IT WILL COME UP IN A WEEK, WHO KNOWS.
I WAS DRIVING CAR AND IT STALLED OUT OF NOWHERE. HAD CAR TOWED HOME AND MECHANIC SAID IT IS EITHER THE FUEL PUMP OR FUEL MODULE. NOW CAR ONLY STARTS SOMETIMES AND WILL TURN OFF. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT ALL. I TRIED CALLING FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT THEY SAY THAT MY VIN. IS CLEAR DON'T SEE HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE AS MY CAR IS DOING SAMETHING AS MANY OTHER FORD FLEXS ON THE ROAD HOW DO I GET THEM TO ADD MY VIN. TO RECALL LIST PLEASE AS MY CAR IS DOING SAMETHING AS THE CARS ON RECALL LLIST.
I HAVE HAD TWO DOOR LATCHES FAIL IN THE SAME VEHICLE WITHIN 2 YEARS OF EACH OTHER. NO MATTER WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR STATIONARY, I GOT A WARNING STATING THE RIGHT REAR (AND NOW THE RIGHT FRONT) DOOR WAS NOT CLOSED WHEN IN FACT IT WAS. THERE IS A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE DOOR LATCHES. THIS ALSO PREVENTS THE CHILD LOCKS FROM ENGAGING SINCE IT THINKS THE DOORS ARE OPEN.
THE REAR TOE LINK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FAILED WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE.
UNABLE TO LOCK BACK HATCH WITHOUT ALARM GOING OFF AT RANDOM HOURS. HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK DOORS. THIS SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO DOOR AJAR WARNINGS FOR BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. UNSAFE DUE TO INTRUDERS BEING ABLE TO ACCESS CAR. CHILDREN AND OTHER OCCUPANTS COULD BE VULNERABLE TO CARJACKING. COULD ALSO RESULT IN LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY.
DOME LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF, CAUSING DRAIN ON BATTERY, UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS AT NIGHT. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ESCALATION OF DOOR AJAR WARNINGS FOR BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY.
I PLACED THE SUV IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF (THE CAR WAS STATIONARY). AS I LEANED ON THE VEHICLE TO GET OUT OF IT, I NOTICE IT ROLLED BACK. BECAUSE IT WAS UNUSUAL, I PUSH ON THE CAR FRAME TO ENSURE EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. WHEN I PUSHED THE VEHICLE, IT CONTINUED TO ROLL OUT OF MY GARAGE. I HAD TO RUN AND JUMP IN THE CAR, RESTART IT, AND PUT IN IN THE PARK POSITION AGAIN. THIS CAUSED GREAT CONCERN FOR ME BECAUSE MY SMALL CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR. AFTER THIS OCCURRED, I CALLED FORD TO REPORT IT. RECENTLY, I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND REALIZED THAT SOME OF THE 2012-2014 FORD FLEX VEHICLES WERE RECALLED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. WHEN I CALLED FORD TO REPORT, I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THEM DID THEY HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE VEHICLE BEING IN PARK BUT DISENGAGING AND ROLLING AND THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED WAS NO. THE PERSON SUGGESTED I PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON UNTIL I COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE NOT BEEN THE TRUTH AS THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN 2014. ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL, I AM HAVING THAT PROBLEM.
DOOR LATCH AND DOOR SENSORS OVER THE COURSE OF AT LEAST A YEAR, FORD HAS BEEN RECALLING VEHICLES BECAUSE OF A FAULTY DOOR LATCH. FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THE FLEX. SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVED WITH THE DOOR LATCH INCLUDE THE INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOOR FOR SAFETY BECAUSE IF THE SENSOR REGISTERS THE DOOR IS OPEN, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE. THERE IS ALSO A KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE DOORS WITH A FAULTY LATCH. IT SOUNDS AS IF THE LATCHES ARE NOT FULLY ENGAGED. AS A RESULT OF THE SENSOR PROBLEM, INSIDE LIGHTS RUN FOR HOURS ON END AS IF A DOOR IS OPEN, RUNNING DOWN A PERFECTLY NEW AND CHARGED BATTERY. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FORD CORPORATE AND DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY SAID IT WILL NOT BE FIXED ON THEIR DIME UNTIL A RECALL IS ISSUED. ASSUMINGLY, IF OTHER MODELS ARE BEING RECALLED BECAUSE OF SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE DOOR LATCHES, THE FORD FLEX, WHICH ALSO HAS DOOR LATCH PROBLEMS SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY AS WELL. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT WOULD RATHER FLEX OWNERS PAY $500 PER LATCH TO ENSURE OUR FAMILY IS SAFE WHILE RIDING IN A NEGLIGENTLY MANUFACTURED VEHICLE. DOES IT TAKE A KID FALLING OUT OF A FORD FLEX FOR THE RECALL TO BE ISSUED?

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE FORD MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V390000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
CONSTANT DOOR AJAR WARNING WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED (OR OPEN) DRAINS BATTERY AND CONTINUALLY SETS OFF CAR ALARM. DOORS NO LONGER LOCK WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED ONCE PARKED OR ALARM WILL SOUND WITHIN 10-15 MINUTES. ISSUE HAS DRAINED MULTIPLE BATTERIES AND STRANDED OWNER. DOME LIGHTS COME ON UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT - ISSUE OCCURS ON STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. FORD DEALER RECOMMENDS REPLACING ALL DOOR LATCHES AT >$200 A PIECE WITH NO GUARANTEE OF ISSUE NOT RECURRING.
MY INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS COME ON OFTEN WHEN I ATTEMPT TO DRIVE CAR AT NIGHT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE. THEY DO GO OFF AFTER I DRIVE FOR A SHORT DISTANCE. THIS VERY DANGEROUS.
CAR ALARM WENT OFF FOR NO REASON AT 5:30 AM IN DRIVEWAY. NEIGHBORS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE NOISE.
HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY DUE TO DOOR AJAR WARNINGS CAUSING LIGHTS TO STAY ON INSIDE CAR. THIS ALSO CAUSES WARNINGS ABOUT ENGINE ON WITH ASSOCIATED DINGING OF THE WARNING BELLS. VERY DISTRACTING.
DOOR AJAR WARNING FOR BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS ARE ON ALL OF THE TIME, EVEN WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED. THIS CAUSES THE INSIDE LIGHTS TO STAY ON. ALARM GOES OFF FOR NO REASON. DANGEROUS CONDITIONS BECAUSE WHEN INSIDE LIGHTS STAY ON AT NIGHT, CANNOT SEE WHEN BACKING UP. THE COMPUTER WARNING BELL DINGS WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND SAYS ENGINE IS ON. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN YOU ARE IN THE CAR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. WHY ARE OTHER FORD MODELS RECALLED FOR THIS, WHILE THE FLEX IS NOT? THE FLEX NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THIS RECALL.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, WOULD NOT TURN OVER TO START. IT WOULD STALL. LIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL WOULD COME ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. ITS A CONCERN AND SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP AS BELIEVED BY THE REFERENCE OF THIS SITE RECALL.
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON EVEN WHEN THE DOORS ARE CLOSED. WITH THIS HAPPENING THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS STAY ON AN ALARM SOUNDS AND TELLS YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK WHEN YOU STOP THE DOORS DON'T LOCK BECAUSE IT THINKS THE DOORS ARE OPEN AND THE ALARM GOES OFF WHENEVER THE CAR SENSES THE DOORS ARE AJAR WHEN SHUT OFF AND THE LIGHTS DON'T TURN OFF ALL NIGHT LONG BECAUSE IT THINKS THE DOORS ARE OPEN.
POWER STREEING JUST STOPPED WORKING
ON THURSDAY, APRIL 6TH 2017, I WENT OUT TO MY CAR (STATIONARY) AND IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD JUST DRIVEN IT TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR EARLIER. THERE HAD BEEN NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATIONS. FORD CERTIFIED PRE OWNED WARRANTY COVERED THE TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DIAGNOSE VEHICLE THE SAME DAY AND I HAD TO RENT A VEHICLE. ON FRIDAY, DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY FUEL PUMP MODULE. THEY INDICATED TO ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CERTIFIED PRE OWNED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I CALLED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY WHICH COVERED ONLY A PORTION OF THE REPAIRS AND THEY DID NOT COVER THE RENTAL CAR AMOUNT. THE TOTAL AMOUNT FOR SERVICE WAS $856. I PAID $537 OF THAT PLUS AND ADDITIONAL $40 FOR THE RENTAL CAR. ON MONDAY, APRIL 10TH, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT CERTAIN 2013 FORD FLEXES HAD A RECALL ON FUEL PUMP MODULES. YOUR WEBSITE LISTED, "FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTION MAY CAUSE ENGINE STALL. A LOSS OF POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL OR PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. FORD'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 16S31." I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY CHECKED MY VIN NUMBER. THEY INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. I WAS SHOCKED AS THIS IS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM THAT OTHER VEHICLES HAD. I BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS AND SHOULD REIMBURSE ME. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE BEEN DRIVING OR HAVE MY CHILDREN WITH ME WHEN THE MODULE STOPPED WORKING. I WOULD APPRECIATE NHTSA LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER AND FOLLOWING UP.
IN 2015 ,I PURCHASED A 2013 FORD FLEX FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. ABOUT A WEEK AGO I STARTED NOTICING A NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING , AND ALSO WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED . TOOK THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP, JUST TO FIND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD "NO RECALLS" OF COURSE, AND QUOTED ME $2,100 TO GET IT FIXED . I WAS LIKE ARE YOU KIDDIND ME? THIS CAR STILL UNDER THE 100K MILE WARRANTY, AND THEY'RE ANSWER WAS SORRY SIR I'M ONLY HERE TO DELIVER THE NEWS. ANY HELP ? CAN'T BELIEVE FORD .
UPON ENTERING AND STARTING VEHICLE DISPLAYS DOOR AJAR WHEN IT IS CLEARLY CLOSED AND LOCKED. REQUIRES SEVERAL HARD CLOSES OF THE DOOR TO DEACTIVATE SENSOR. ALSO RANDOMLY TRIGGERS CAR ALARM. APPEARS TO WORK PROPERLY IN COOLER WEATHER. DEALER RECOMMENDS A DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT FOR AN ESTIMATED OF $500
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FLEX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WAS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE THE GEAR SHIFT BECAME INOPERABLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,492. THE VIN WAS INCOMPLETE.
FAULTY DOOR SENSORS. DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SHUT. MAKES IT HARD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AS THE DOME LIGHT REMAINS ON FOR MINUTES AFTER DRIVING MAKING REDUCING VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. WITH THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON, MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE DOOR IS OPEN OR CLOSED. DUE TO THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT, THE DOME LIGHT CONSTANTLY REMAINS CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE BATTERY. DOOR AJAR WARNING - PASSENGER DOOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM SHOWING THE DOOR IS OPEN ALL OF THE TIME. SINCE THE CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN, THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK WHILE IN MOTION. PUTTING ALL PASSENGERS IN THE CAR IN DANGER. IT ALSO KEEPS THE INTERNAL LAMPS ON BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN CAUSING THE BATTERY LIFE TO DECREASE AT A QUICKER RATE.
THERE IS A 115V POWER OUTLET IN THE CONSOLE IN FRONT OF THE BACK SEAT FOR USE BY BACK SEAT OCCUPANTS. THE COVER FOR THIS COMES OFF VERY EASILY LEAVING THE 115 V BRASS METAL ELECTRICAL CONTACTS EXPOSED. BACK SEAT OCCUPANTS CAN EASILY RECEIVE AN ELECTRIC SHOCK IF THEY TOUCH THESE EXPOSED CONTACTS.

THIS 2013 FORD FLEX HAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL, AND LIGHTING ISSUES. ALL 5 DOOR LATCHES, DOOR SENSORS, CAR'S ALARM SYSTEM, AND BATTERY HAS FAILED. THE CAR'S BCM HAS REPORTED INTERMITTENT DOOR AJAR ALARMS. THIS EFFECTS THE CAR'S DOOR LOCKS AS WELL AS THE CAR'S DOME LIGHT AND CAR'S ALARM SYSTEM. AT NO POINT WILL THE CAR'S DOORS LOCK WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. SO ANY CHILD CAN OPEN UP A DOOR WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE DOME LIGHT COMES ON CAUSING A VISION GLARE AT NIGHT. TWICE MY WIFE HAS ALMOST PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING MOTORIS AT NIGHT, DO TO THE LIGHT GLARE WITHIN THE CAR. BECAUSE THE CAR'S DOME LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, THE CAR'S BATTERY DRAINS DOWN WHILE PARKED. YOU CANNOT SET THE CAR'S ALARM WITHOUT THE DOOR SENSORS SETTING THE CAR'S ALARM SYSTEM OFF. MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED ALL 5 DOOR LATCHES AND SENSORS, THE CAR BATTERY, AND THE BCM AT A FINANCIAL LOSS TO ME AT $1700.00. AT NO POINT HAS FORD OFFERED TO HELP WITH THESE ISSUES. DOOR AJAR SENSOR ON BACK DOOR IS ALWAYS ON. ANTI THEFT ALARM RANDOMLY SOUNDS.
MY VEHICLE'S "DOOR AJAR" SENSOR WILL NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN ALL DOORS ARE SECURELY CLOSED. THIS IS RESULTING IN MY LIGHTS STAYING ON FOR A VERY LONG TIME AND THE WORST THING IS THAT MY DOORS WON'T STAY LOCKED AT ANYTIME. WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW IS THAT WHEN I LOCK THE DOORS AFTER EXITING THE CAR, THE ALARM WILL GO OFF AFTER A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME, THEREFORE, I HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR UNLOCKED OR KEEP AN EAR OUT FOR IT. I HAVE TRIED MANUALLY LOCKING THE DOORS WHILE I'M DRIVING AND THE DOOR LOCKS WILL AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK THEMSELVES. I DON'T FEEL SAFE KNOWING THAT SOMEONE COULD JUST JUMP IN MY CAR OR OPEN ONE OF MY BACK DOORS WHERE MY TWO CHILDREN SIT. I'M ALSO FEARFUL OF MY BATTERY DYING AS A DIRECT RESULT OF MY DOME LIGHTS STAYING ON FOR SUCH A LONG TIME EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'M DREADING THE THOUGHT OF THIS HAPPENING WHILE WITH MY KIDS AND BEING LEFT STRANDED. I WISH FORD WOULD TAKE THIS ISSUE MORE SERIOUS. WHILE THE CAR IS BOTH PARKED AND IN MOTION, THE DOOR SENSOR INCORRECTLY STATES THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR IS AJAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED DURING THE DAY AND AT NIGHT. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE TEMPERATURES WERE ABOVE AND BELOW FREEZING. IT SEEMS TO BE A SYSTEMIC ISSUE. SINCE THE DOOR SENSORS ARE CONNECTED TO THE LIGHTING SYSTEM, IT AFFECTS INTERIOR LIGHTING OF THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO AFFECTS LOCKING AND SECURITY MECHANISMS ON THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDELY REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. I HAVEN'T TAKEN PICTURES OF THE ISSUE YET, BUT I CAN EASILY GET THEM SINCE THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS SO FREQUENTLY.
FUEL CONTROL MODULE - VEHICLE HAS 30,932 MILES ON IT, AND IS 4 MONTHS OUTSIDE OF THE 3YEAR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY. DROVE AND FILLED UP THE VEHICLE ON THE AFTERNOON OF 2/12 AND ALL WAS WELL. CAME OUT OF MY HOME ON THE MORNING OF 2/13 TO GO TO WORK AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, HAD TO CALL AND HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. ENDED UP HAVING TO TAKE THE DAY OFF WORK TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED, ARRANGE FOR REPAIR, ETC. AFTER A DAY AND A HALF, ON 2/14, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION AND THE COMPUTER WAS "REBOOTED" AND THE CAR FINALLY STARTED FOR THE TECHS; BUT THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IT FOR A DAY OR SO TO MAKE SURE IT WOULD CONTINUE TO START. ON, 2/16, I WAS CALLED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN AND THAT THE FUEL CONTROL MODULE WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WOULD BE OVER $400. I ASKED IF HE WOULD GO TO THE MANAGER AND SEE IF THIS COULD BE REPLACED AT NO COST SINCE IT WAS JUST OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND THE VEHICLE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE 31K MILES ON IT. THE ADVISOR CALLED BACK AND SAID THAT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO REPLACE FOR $175. AFTER GETTING HOME AND ABLE TO DO A LITTLE RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT FORD HAS BEEN RECALLING THE FUEL CONTROL MODULE ON MANY FLEX BOOST MODELS, BUT THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE ACROSS THE BOARD IN SEVERAL OF THE MODELS (INCLUDING MINE), BUT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THOSE MODELS YET. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT FORD SHOULD BE ISSUING A RECALL ON ALL THE AFFECTED MODELS, NOT JUST THE BOOST ENGINE MODELS!!!

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
THE DOOR LATCHES AND/OR SENSORS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THEY ARE CONSTANTLY SAYING THE DOORS ARE AJAR WHEN THEY ARE NOT. I FILED A REPORT IN JULY AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A SAFTEY ISSUE. I BEG TO DIFFER WHEN I CANNOT LOCK MY DOORS AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF. ITS BEEN A YEAR OF DEALING WITH THIS, I FINALLY BROKE DOWN AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PAY $200 TO HAVE THE SENSORS CLEAN WITH THE "SPECIAL TOOL" THAT ONLY THEY HAD. I DID THAT ONLY AFTER HAVING TO SPEND ANOTHER $150 ON A NEW BATTERY THAT WAS DRAINED FROM THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF ALL NIGHT LONG BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I HAD THE SENSORS CLEANED IN NOVEMBER AND NOW IN FEBRUARY THE PROBLEM IS BEGINING ALL OVER AGAIN!
A BOTH PASSENGER SIDE DOORS FAIL TO DETECT BEING SHUT. THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM AUTOMATICALLY BEING LOCKED WHEN DRIVING AND PRESENT A HAZARD IN THE KIDS ARE ABLE TO OPEN DOORS IN BACK BY SIMPLY PULLING THE HANDLE.
THE DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH DOES NOT READ THE DOOR IS SHUT, KEEPING THE DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED WHILE THE CAR IS DRIVEN. ALSO MAKES LIGHTS STAY ON SO IT KILLS THE BATTERY.

DRIVING DOWN COUNTY BACK ROAD, DOING APPROX 45MPH, CAR SHUT OFF. RADIO ON, NO WARNING LIGHTS, HEAT WENT OUT. COASTED TO A STOP IN A CHURCH PARKING LOT TRIED APPROX 4 TIMES TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, WOULDN'T TURN OVER. WAITED BETWEEN 5 TO 10 MINUTES, TRIED AGAIN AND VEHICLE TURNED OVER WITH NO PROBLEMS. RECALL STATES, "A COMPONENT WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP ELECTRIC MODULE (PEM) MAY OVERHEAT CAUSING A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP. FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTION MAY CAUSE ENGINE STALL. DOOR SENSOR INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED. AT TIMES, THE DOOR IS PREVENTED FROM CLOSING WHEN A MECHANISM DROPS WITHIN THE DOOR PANEL. AN ITEM HAS TO BE PLACED IN TO PUSH THE MECHANISM UP TO ALLOW THE DOOR TO CLOSE. THE DOOR SENSOR MECHANISM, WHEN IT INDICATES THE DOOR IS CLOSE ALTHOUGH IT IS OPEN, PREVENTS THE CAR DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED.
THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCKS AND UNLOCKS ITSELF EVEN WHILE DRIVING. I GET A PASSENGER DOOR AJAR WARNING EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED COMPLETELY. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER I HAVE TURNED OFF AND EXITED THE CAR BECAUSE IT THINKS THE DOOR IS AJAR. THE ALARM GOES OFF OFTEN BECAUSE THE DOORS ARE LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THEMSELVES AND THE CAR THINKS THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HAS BEEN OPENED WHEN IT IS UNOCCUPIED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY, IN MOTION (EVEN ON THE FREEWAY) AND ALSO WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES.
