IGNITION SWITCH LOCKED UP AND I CANNOT START THE CAR BECAUSE THE KEY WONT TURN THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS DONE THIS I WAS LUCKY THE FIRST TIME IT CAME LOOSE AND ALLOWED THE CAR TO START
MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN MY KEY WHEN TRYING TO START MY 2001 FORD FOCUS LX. I TRIED ALL THE USUAL, PULL THE WHEEL THIS WAY, TURN THE KEY THAT WAY, EVEN TAPPING THE KEY, AND NOTHING WORKED. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE IGNITIION TUMBLERS, OR WHATEVER, AND IT COST $300.
THERE WAS NOTHING IN PARTICULAR THAT LED TO THE FAILURE. CAR IS DRIVEN UNDER BOTH HIGHWAY AND IN-TOWN CONDITIONS, AND TEMPARATURES RANGE FROM BELOW FREEZING UP TO 100 F.*AK THE VEHICLE WHEN SHIFTING ON THE HIGHWAY OFTEN SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL, REVS UP, AND MAY FINALLY SHIFT INTO A HIGHER GEAR. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO TAKE FOOT OFF GAS AND RE-PUSH IN ORDER FOR IT TO SHIFT. THEN WHEN IT SHIFTS INTO GEAR, IT JERKS INTO GEAR. SECONDLY, WHEN CAR IS DRIVING IN TOWN AND IS GIVEN A SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND SHUDDERS UNTIL YOU LET OFF OR GIVE IT MORE GAS. IT HAS NOT LED TO ANY PARTICULAR INJURIES OR CONSEQUENCES, OTHER THAN BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING SLOWDOWN.
UNSURE OF EXACT DATE- IGNITION SWITCH HAS GONE OUT THREE TIMES CAR HAS TO BEEN TOWED AWAY ALL THREE TIMES. PRESTIGE FORD MECHANIC SAYS IT IS HOW THE PART IS MADE WONT COVER AFTER 36,000 MILES BECAUSE IT IS ELECTRICAL. DEALERSHIP ADMITS IS RECURRING AFTER WARRANTY DEFECT BUT FORD COMPANY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILTY FOR BAD PART. *AK
LOSS OF POWER DUE TO POOR FUEL CIRCULATION. CAR CONSISTANTLY CUTS OUT AND DIES. ACCORDING TO RUSS DEAN FORD IN PASCO WA, THE DPFE SENSOR IS BAD.*AK
2001 FORD FOCUS IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER WILL NOT TURN. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. IT FAILED LAST YEAR, AND LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED. IT THEN WORKED PERFECTLY. ABOUT A YEAR LATER, IT FAILED AGAIN. I NOW HAVE TO BEAT THE KEY INTO THE CYLINDER TO GET IT TO START.*AK
MY 2001 FORD FOCUS HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AND DIED ONCE WHILE I WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT USUALLY DIES WHEN IT HAS A QUARTER TANK OF GAS OR LESS BUT STILL NOT ON EMPTY. I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER AND HAD THE INJECTORS CLEANED. I ALSO TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE RECALLED BOLT FIXED.NONE OF THESE THINGS HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE A 2001FORD FOCUS. MY DAUGHTER JUST HAD A BLOWOUT OF THE FRONT TIRE WHILE DRIVING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS IN DANBURY CT. THE TRACKS DO NOT STICK UP VERY MUCH. THIS IS THE 3RD BLOW ON THIS CAR. THE CAR ONLY HAS 35000 MILES ON IT. THE TIRES ARE FIRESTONE FIREHAWK GTA 02. I HAVE LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE FORD FOCUS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THEY ALSO CLAIM THEY ARE AN ALL SEASON TIRE AND IF YOU LOOK ON TIRERACK.COM EVERYBODY SAYS THEY ARE TERRIBLE IN THE RAIN AND SNOW. THEY ARE THE LOWEST RATED TIRE ON THE SITE IN THEIR RELATIVE CATAGORY. MY BROTHER TALKED TO FIRESTONE WHEN THE FIRST TIRE BLEW OUT AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD ONLY PRORATE THE TIRE. THEY DIDN'T FEEL THE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE. WE ENDED UP GETTING 2 DIFFERENT BRAND TIRES AND THOSE ARE FINE. I NOW WILL GO AND PURCHASE 2 MORE, I WILL NOT WAIT FOR THE 4TH TIRE TO BLOW OUT! THEY STILL HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD ON THEM SO ITS A SHAME, BUT I FEEL THESE TIRES DEFINITELY HAVE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *AK
THE IGNITION LOCK FAILED TO ACCEPT THE IGNITION KEY. I MANIPULATED THE KEY FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE LOCK WOULD ACCEPT THE KEY. IT FINALLY ACCEPTED THE KEY AFTER JARRING THE CAR BY SLAMMING THE DOOR. I CAN NEVER BE SURE THE CAR IS AVAILABLE IN AN EMERGENCY. *JB
I TRIED TO START MY CAR (2001 FORD FOCUS) AND THE KEY WOULDN'T TURN AT ALL IN THE IGINITION. I SPENT THE BETTER PART OF 2 HOURS TRYING TO GET IT TO TURN AND IT DIDN'T. I ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED - AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS MY LOCK CYLINDER THAT IS SHOT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT CAN'T BE REPLACED WITHOUT TEARING HALF MY DASH/STEERING COLUMN APART.*AK
BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR FAILURE. *NM
I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 FORD FOCUS WHEN MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT NOR HAD MY CAR BEEN BUMPED HARD. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID MY DRIVERS SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER NEEDS TO BE REPLACE AND THAT FORD ONLY REPLACES THEM FOR FREE UP TO 50000 MILES. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR PRE-OWNED 4 MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAY MY WARRANTY IS NO GOOD. THIS PART IS GOING TO COST ABOUT $200 PLUS LABOR. IF I DON'T GET THIS FIX MY AIR BAG COULD GO OFF JUST FROM ME PUTTING MY SEAT BELT ON. *NM
WHILE PLACING THE KEY INSIDE THE IGNITION SWITCH VEHICLE FAILED TO START. WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE IGNITION. CONSUMER CONTACTED A LOCK SMITH, AND ALSO WILL CONTACT THE DEALER IN THE MORNING. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMER HEARD A HIGH SCREECHING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, FOLLOWED BY THE REAR WOBBLING. THE DRIVER PROCEEDED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS UNDRIVEABLE. THE REAR WHEEL BEARING BROKE PREMATURELY. THIS OCCURRED DUE TO THE DEFECT DESCRIBED IN THE REAR WHEEL BEARING RECALL 01I01700 BUT THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED. *JB
TURN SIGNAL FAILS TO TURN OFF AFTER THE TURN IS COMPLETED. *AK
KEY WILL GO IN IGNITION, BUT WILL NOT TURN. STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED, GEAR SHIFT IS LOCKED. *AK
I WAS DRIVING IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME BRAKED HARD. I SAW IT TOO LATE AND HIT MY BRAKES, LOCKING THEM UP. I HIT THE CAR AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BURNING MY LEFT ARM (THOUGH NOT SEVERELY) AND BREAKING THE WIND SHIELD. THE CAR I HIT SUSTAIN VIRTUALLY NO DAMAGE, EXCEPT TWO MARKS ON ITS REAR BUMPER FROM THE BOLTS THAT HOLD MY LICENSE PLATE. MY CAR SUSTAINED MINIMAL FRONT END DAMAGE. IT IS LIKELY I WAS TRAVELING UNDER 10 MPH WHEN MY CAR IMPACTED THE OTHER CAR. OVERALL, IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. IT BURNT MY ARM AND CAUSED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF UNNECESSARY DAMAGE: BOTH AIR BAG REPLACEMENTS, DASH, WINDSHIELD, SEAT BELTS AND TOWING COSTS. *NM
ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO MY KEY STARTED TO GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I DRIVE A 2001 FORD FOCUS. IT SEEMS TO DO IT EVERY OTHER DAY OR SO. I COULDN'T LOCK MY DOORS, AND WAS AFRAID THAT SOMEONE WOULD STEAL SOMETHING. NOW EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR I BRING TWO SETS OF KEYS WITH ME, SO THAT I CAN LOCK THE DOORS. HOWEVER, HAVING KEYS STUCK IN THE IGNITION IS ASKING FOR SOMEONE TO BREAK INTO MY CAR. I HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS PROBLEM, AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY ARE HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2001 FORD FOCUS. I WILL GIVE YOU AN ESTIMATE OF THE FIRST INCIDENT DATE. THANK YOU. *AK
IN JUNE 2004, I TOOK MY 2001 FORD FOCUS INTO SUNSET FORD IN WESTMINSTER, CALIFORNIA COMPLAINING ABOUT A VIBRATION AND RATTLE IN THE FRONT END OF MY CAR. THEY CHARGED ME $80 AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. AGAIN, ON AUGUST 12, 2004, I TOOK MY 2001 FORD FOCUS INTO SUNSET FORD COMPLAINING THAT THE VIBRATION AND RATTLE WERE STILL THERE AND GETTING WORSE. THEY AGAIN CHARGED ME $80 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. IN THE EARLY MORNING ON OCTOBER 2, 2004, I STARTED TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP AND MY CAR FOR NO REASON AT ALL TURNED SHARPLY AND STRUCK A CURB. THERE IS NOW MAJOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO MY CAR THAT WILL COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. THE ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS POINT TO THE SAME TYPE OF PARTS AS ANOTHER RECALL MADE BY FORD FOR THIS SAME YEAR OF THE FOCUS. I CONTEND THAT THIS MAJOR DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY FORDS NEGLIGENCE IN NOT FINDING AND FIXING THE ORIGINAL MECHANICAL DEFECT THAT I REPORTED TO THEM TWICE. I ALSO CONTEND THAT THE SYMPTOMS MY CAR WAS EXHIBITING WERE THE SAME AS DESCRIBED IN YOUR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #02V289000. (PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM RE-ENTERING THIS COMPLAINT AS I INCORRECTLY STATED THE YEAR OF THE FORD FOCUS AS 2000 INSTEAD OF 2001 IN COMPLAINT #10093930.)*JB
THE WHEEL/HUBS/ BEARINGS, AND ALL THE WAY AROUND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE REPLACED. CONTACTED THE DEALER. BUT, PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE WHEEL BEARINGS, HOWEVER IT WAS FOR THE 2000 MODEL NOT THE 2001. *JB
DT: THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON WHEN LIGHTS ARE TURNED ON. THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS ALSO DO NOT COME ON WHEN HEADLAMPS ARE ON. THE TURN SIGNALS WORK, AND REAR TAIL LIGHTS DO WORK WHEN BRAKE PRESSURE IS APPLIED. THE CONSUMER REPLACED A FUSE SEVERAL TIMES, AND IT CONTINUED TO BLOW OUT, INDICATING A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. BETWEEN THE HATCH AND THE BODY THERE IS WIRING HARNESS, AND INSPECTION OF THAT WIRING HARNESS DISCOVERED THAT THE SHIELDING OF THE WIRING SEPARATED OR CRACKED, INDICATING THE WIRES ARE STRESSED. THE CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS A PROBLEM INDICATED ON A RECALL FOR PRIOR MODEL YEARS. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED FORD, WHO SAID THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A RECALL. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT TAKEN VEHICLE TO A DEALER AT THIS TIME. THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPAIRS OR CORRECTIONS MADE OTHER THAN THE ELECTRICAL TAPE THAT WAS PLACED ON THE EXPOSED WIRES BY THE CONSUMER. *AK
INGITION SWITCH STUCK AND WILL NOT TURN AT ALL TO TURN ON THE CAR. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ENGINE MOUNT BOLTS SNAPPED IN HALF. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE FELL ONTO THE AXLE, WHICH DAMAGED PART OF THE AXLE. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL PUMP HESITATED. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE PROBLEM DID NOT DUPLICATE ITSELF AND THEY TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. THE CONSUMER LATER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY TOO TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK BOTH REAR DOORS FROM THE INSIDE NOR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR WITH TWO LOOSE CORDS. DEALERSHIPS INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER THE LATCH MECHANISM BROKE. *AK
WE HAVE HAD THREE ELECTRICAL WINDOWS TO FALL INSIDE THE DOOR PANELS. EACH TIME WAS DUE TO THE REGULATOR. FIRST TIME WAS UNDER WARRANTY APRIL, 2004. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME, HAS NOW HAPPENED SEPT AND OCTOBER, 2004. WE HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR BOTH OF THESE WINDOWS. THERE IS ODVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN THE ORIGINAL REGULATORS. WHAT ARE YOUR CHANCES OF THREE POWER WINDOWS FALLING INSIDE YOUR DOOR PANEL BECAUSE THE REGULATOR WENT OUT ON THEM. TWO OF THE WINDOWS HAS ONLY BEEN USED UP TO 10 TIMES TOTAL SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE MAY, 2001.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *NM
I HAVE A 2001 FORD FOCUS LX SEDAN. THE IGNITION LOCK MYSTERIOUSLY LOCKS UP ABOUT ONCE A YEAR AND THE CAR HAS TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE FIXED. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH TIME THE IGNITION HAS LOCKED UP. CAN YOU SAY "LEMON LAW"? I HAVE READ LITERALLY HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF POSTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. MY FORD ROADSIDE WOULD NOT COVER THE TOW AND I HAD TO USE MY INSURANCE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW IT THIS TIME. ANYHOW, THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SHOWS UP AT MY HOUSE AND STATES THAT "HE HAS TOWED AT LEAST 50 OF THESE CARS," AND EVERY ONE OF THEM WAS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. HE STATED THAT HE NEVER TOWED ONE FOR ANY OTHER PROBLEMS. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL YET??? THE DESIGN IS PISS POOR AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT! PLEASE HELP US. *JB
I REAR-ENDED A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AT A STOP LIGHT. MPH WAS LESS THAN 10. BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED GIVING ME 2ND DEGREE BURNS TO MY HAND AND ARM RESULTING IN LOSS OF WORK FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND SCARRING. MY WINDSHIELD ALSO SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE THAT WAS HIT HAD NO DAMAGE. MY WAS VERY MINIMAL. MY AIRBAGS AND WINDSHIELD WERE REPLACED, BUT MY STEERING WHEEL WAS NEVER FIXED. WITH THE MANY NUMEROUS RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE PLUS THIS INCIDENT, MY WIFE AND I FEEL UNSAFE IN THIS CAR.
2001 FORD FOCUS - STEERING WHEEL LOCKED & KEY WON'T TURN. *AK
I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN 5 TIMES TO FIX THE IGNITION. THE FIRST TWO TIMES I BELIEVE THE A CYLINDER IN THE IGNITION WAS REPLACED, THE THIRD TIME THE SAME PART WAS REPLACED AND I WAS GIVEN A NEW KEY. THE FOUR TIME THE CAR STARTED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD I JUST DIDN'T TRY TO START MY CAR PROPERLY AND DID I KNOW HOW TO START A STICK SHIFT (I HAVE HAD A STICK FOR THE LAST 14 YEARS). THE FIFTH TIME THEY REPLACED THE WHOLE IGNITION SYSTEM. NOTHING HAPPENED TO CAUSE ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS I WOULD JUST GO OUT TO START MY CAR AND THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN ALL THE WAY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND WOULD HAVE TO BE TOWED. ALL OF THESE HAVE HAPPENED IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR. ALSO PERIODICALLY THOUGHT OUT THIS WHOLE TIME THE IGNITION WOULD STICK AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS HOWEVER IT WOULD WORK. THE INCIDENT DATE I AM USING IS THIS FIFTH TIME. *AK
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE CONSUMER DOWN SHIFTED AND THE SAFETY IGNITION SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED AND WAS CAUGHT UNDER THE CLUTCH, CAUSING THE RELAY TO SLOW DOWN. THE CONSUMER PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE LURCHING, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE AND THE CONSUMER SCRAPED ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT. *AK *SC
IGNITION SWITCH LOCKED.AS A RESULT, KEY WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE SWITCH IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE. *AK
WAS DRIVING HOME AND ENGINE BEGAN KNOCKING AND GOT LOUDER AND WHEN I RETURNED HOME HAD MY HUSBAND LOOK AT IT AND FOUND 3 MOTOR MOUNTS WERE RUSTED OFF. DEALERSHIP REPLACED MOTOR MOUNTS A WEEK LATER AT MY COST AND DIDN'T GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR. *TR
2001-FORD FOCUS, DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR LOCK IS DIFFICULT TO OPEN AFTER BEING UNLOCKED. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED YET DUE TO THE EXPENSE. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED FUEL RAIL SYSTEM WAS LEAKING GASOLINE, RESULTING IN STALLING. INDEPENDENT SHOP CLEANED THE FUEL INJECTION AN THROTTLE CABLE. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK *TS
IGNITION KEY INTER LOCK FAILED . AS A RESULT, CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. *AK
MY 2001 FORD FOCUS ZX3'S IGNITION SWITCH FAILED. WHEN YOU PUT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION CYLINDER, IT DOESN'T TURN. I TRIED THE USUAL THINGS LIKE JIGGLING THE KEY WHILE MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL, AND I TRIED A SPARE KEY. *JB
I BOUGHT THE CAR USED THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOLD ME HE HAD THE IGNITION CYLINDER REPLACED. WELL ITS A COUPLE YEARS LATER NOW AND MY IGNITIONS CYLINDER IS BAD TOO. MY KEY BARELY GOES IN AND IT DOES NOT TURN THE LOCK, AND WILL NOT START MY CAR. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD AND THEY REFUSE TO ISSUE A RECALL OR EVEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTEE ON IT. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND IT SEEMS THAT EVERY FOCUS 2000-2002 THAT IS AROUND 3 YEARS OLD HAS THIS PROBLEM. MY CAR IS CURRNTLY PARKED IN A WENDYS PARKING LOT WHERE IT HAPPENED. I DONT HAVE A LOT OF MONEY AND CANNOT AFFORD THE ASSININE AMOUNT OF MONEY FORD WANTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM (ABOUT 300$) AND IT SEEMS THEY DONT WANT ANYONE FIXING IT THEMSELVES EITHER, THE IGNITION CLYINDERS DO NOT COME WITH KEYS AND YOU HAVE TO BUT THE KEYS AND HAVE THEM CUT TO YOUR KEY AND THEN HAVE THE IGNITION CYLINDER BORED OUT TO THE SHAPE OF THE KEY (THIS IS AS BACKWARDS AS IVE EVER SEEN) SO NO ONE IS CAPABLE OF JUST BUYING A NEW CYLINDER AND FIXING IT THEMSELVES!! SO BASICALLY THERE ARE ALOT OF PO'D PEOPLE THAT FORD IS REFUSING TO HELP, AND IM ADDING MY NAME TO THE LIST THANK YOU. *AK
I HAD EXPERIENCED A LOSS IN ACCELERATION AND MY CAR STALLED. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AGAIN, IT RAN FOR ABOUT ONE MILE AND THEN IT STALLED AGAIN, THIS TIME THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. I COULD NOT GET IT STARTED AGAIN AND I CALLED FOR A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER THEY RAN SOME TESTS AND TOOK APART THE ENGINE, THEY FOUND THAT A VALVE HAD BROKEN IN THE CYLINDER AND DAMAGED THE PISTON AND THE HEAD/HEAD GASKET. THE CAR IS A 2001 FORD FOCUS THAT I HAD PURCHASED NEW AND I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THE ENGINE SINCE IT IS LESS THAN 3 AND YEARS OLD. *AK
WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO COME ON. DEALER WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WHICH WAS INTERMITTENT. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE SURGED/HESITATED AND STALLED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY DID NOT SEE ANY PROBLEM. CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, AND TRIED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, BUT WAS PUT OFF. DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM SHE WAS HAVING. CONSUMER LATER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC BECAUSE ENGINE" CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, AND SHE WAS TOLD THAT THE EGR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
AFTER COMPLETING MY SHOPPING, I RETURNED TO MY CAR. OPENED MY REAR LEFT DOOR TO PUT DOWN MY BAGS. COME TO CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT IT WOULD NOT SHUT AND AFTER TRYING FOR 40 MINUTES, THE DOOR FINALLY LATCHED SHUT. TRIED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AT HOME...BUT WAS FACED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THIS TIME IT TOOK EVEN LONGER TO SHUT. SINCE THE SUMMER, I HAVE NOT OPENED THE DOOR. CAME ONLINE TO CHECK FOR A RECALL/DEFECT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART IT, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE VEHICLE AND REMAINED ON. THE CONSUMER ALSO NOTICED A LOUD CLICKING AND BANGING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE SHIFT SOLENOID SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH RUSTED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE IT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. CONSUMER PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER HAD THE FUEL SYSTEM SERVICED ON A FUEL RAIL RECALL. VEHICLE WAS SHAKING, AND WILL NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. *AK
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING OR WOULD NOT START. DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM PERTAINED TO THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK
1. WITHOUT CRASH OR OTHER DAMAGE, FUEL BEGAN TO LEAK OUT OF THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK AND DOWN THE TANK ONTO THE UNDERCARRIAGE. OCCURS ONLY WHEN IGNITION IS ON AND VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. 2. FAILURE APPEARS TO BE A SEAL ON SIPHON/FUEL LINE GOING INTO TOP OF TANK. CONSEQUENCES ARE POTENTIAL SERIOUS FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD, UNPREDICTABLE LOSS OF POWER WHEN DRIVING. AWAITING SERVICE ON THE VEHICLE.*AK
