THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,811.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FOCUS. WHILE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND LOST ALL POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING NOISE FROM THE STEERING RACK. THE CONTACT CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SHOOK THE BATTERY A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE CONTACT DROVE HOME. THE FAILURE RECURRED A FEW DAYS LATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V030000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I HAD TO BUY A RE-FURBISHED MOTOR, THE TIRES WERE SPLITTING AND THE SUSPENSION AND AIR CONDITIONER ALL NEEDED REPAIRING. WHEN I RECEIVED THE RECALL FROM DOT, [XXX], I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED TALLAHASSEE FORD. THEY DENIED THERE WAS A RECALL AND I WAS MISTAKEN. MY VIN # WAS LISTED IN THE RECALL. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES BUT FORD KEPT GIVING ME A RUN-AROUND AND THEY LIED. SO NOW, I HAVE APPARENTLY MISSED A DEADLINE WHICH WAS NOT LISTED ON THE ORIGINAL NOTICE TO ME. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN AND THIS HAS REALLY STRESSED ME OUT AND IT REALLY MAKES ME NOT TO PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD FROM ANYONE. ON ETHICS ALONE, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE THEM DO WHAT THEY BASICALLY REFUSED BY LYING TO ME. IT WAS IN MOTION AND WENT TO THE SHOP WITHIN TWO WEEKS AFTER THE NOTICE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY. I'VE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL PEOPLE AT FORD AND ALTHOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, THEY WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSE OF A NEW DOOR LATCH FOR OLDER MODEL FOCUS. THE LATCH ON MY FOCUS HAS BEEN WORKING IMPROPERLY FOR THE PAST YEAR NOW.

ALSO, THE LOCK ON THE HATCHBACK DID NOT WORK PROPERLY AND THE HARNESS LEADING TO THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FAILURE WITHIN THE HATCHBACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HARNESS FOR BOTH THE BATTERY AND HATCHBACK NEEDED REPLACING DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE MIDDLE BRAKE LIGHT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 187,000.

TAKATA RECALL FUEL LINE TOO CLOSE TO EXHAUT IT CAUSES VEHICLE TO STOP RUNNING WAIT 15 -20 MINUTES AND IT WILL START AND YOU CAN GO UNTIL IT DOES IT AGAIN IT IS FINE IN WINTER BUT WARM WEATHER IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME HAVE TRIED TO HAVE FIXED BUT STILL DOES IT

THE CONTACT COULD OPEN THE VEHICLE FROM THE INSIDE, BUT NOT THE OUTSIDE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CLAMPS AND HANDLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,086.
I JUST PURCHASED THIS 2005 FORD FOCUS. AS I WAS CHECKING THINGS OUT, I NOTICED THE BACK UP LIGHT (REVERSE) WERE NOT WORKING. I CHECKED THE BULBS AND FUSE. ALL WAS IN ORDER. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND IT APPEARS THIS SEEM TO BE A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION MOUNTED SIGNAL SWITCH ON THE FORD FOCUS, AS THERE ARE SEVERAL REPORTS REFERRING TO THIS PROBLEM. IF I HAD NOT PERFORMED THE CHECK, I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN THE BACK UP LIGHT WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CONSTANTLY HAD TO USE THE KEY FOB. ALSO, DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER BELOW 30 DEGREES, THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY HESITANT. THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT FOR A MOMENT TO ENSURE THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD START AND NOT SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS UNKNOWN. SCHICKER FORD (3300 S KINGS HIGHWAY, ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI 63139, (314) 664-4100) WAS CONTACTED, BUT DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
THE FORD ZXW WAGON'S LIFTGATE WIRING HARNESS HAD FRAYED INSIDE THE RUBBER HOUSING AT THE JUNCTION WHERE THE GATE PIVOTS BETWEEN THE CAR BODY AND LIFTGATE. THE WIRES SHORTED WHICH CAUSED THE ELECTRIC GATE RELEASE TO OPEN AT 70MPH, WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A FREEWAY. THE LIFTGATE ROSE UP, OPENING THE BACK OF THE CARGO AREA TO TRAFFIC. LUCKILY FREEWAY SPEED WINDS KEPT IT FROM COMPLETELY OPENING, BUT WHEN SLOWED TO 30MPH IT WENT STRAIGHT UP. I'M LUCKY I HAD NO CHILDREN OR ANIMALS IN THE BACK CARGO AREA. AND THE FELLOW DRIVERS ON THE ROAD WERE LUCKY NOTHING SHIFTED AND FELL OUT. THE LIFTGATE REFUSED TO LATCH AFTER THIS POINT, MAKING DRIVING THE CAR SAFELY IMPOSSIBLE. IN RESEARCHING THE CAUSE AND REPAIR, I NOTICED SEVERAL FORUMS WHERE AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM WITH FORD'S DESIGN WAS POSTED. THE REPLACEMENT BILL AT A FORD DEALERSHIP WAS AROUND $1,200, NOT INCLUDING MY TIME LOST TO RESEARCH, REPAIR, OR FINDING ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION FOR MY BUSINESS PURPOSES. THIS IS DANGEROUS, POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING, AND UNFORTUNATELY, NOT FIXED. THE MECHANICS AT FORD SAID THE REPLACEMENT PART IS THE SAME AS WHAT WAS ORIGINAL. THIS WILL LIKELY HAPPEN AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BELL FORD LOCATED AT 2401 W BELL RD, PHOENIX, AZ 85023, WHERE SOME UNKNOW REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO BABBITT FORD LOCATED AT 11 N VERDE ST, FLAGSTAFF, AZ 86001, AND WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO BABBITT FORD WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE RING IN THE TRANSMISSION WHICH NEED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

A CERTIFIED MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TIE RODS AND WHEEL WELL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THE RACK AND PINION TIGHTENED. THE TIE ROD AND WHEEL WELL WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.

ON THE DATE OF MY ACCIDENT, I WAS HEADED FOR WORK, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 65 M.P.H WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON HER BRAKES. I COULDN'T AVOID THE SITUATION, I RAN INTO THE BACK OF HER.. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
THE CLOCK SPRING AND OTHER CIRCUITRY WAS REPAIRED AND REPLACED AT 50000 MILES BY MANTILLA FORD OF WEST HAVEN, CT AT 50,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE OF MAJOR IMPORTANCE. THE REPAIR WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON. I COMMUNICATED WITH FORD MOTOR CO. AT THEIR HEADQUARTERS BY EMAIL LAST WEEK AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND SO I CALLED THEM THIS MORNING THE SO CALLED REPAIR THAT WAS DONE WAS NOT EFFECTIVE. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BROKEN DOWN, HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND NEVER BEEN TOWED. TOLD FORD THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT I PERCEIVE AS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHICH COULD KILL ME. THE HAVE REFUSED TO CONSIDER COVERING THE REPAIR WHICH BRANFORD FORD OF BRANFORD ,CT ESTIMATES TO BE $502.00 I INTEND COMMUNICATE WITH THE LEGAL DEPT AT FORD HEADQUARTERS FOR. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. FORD SAYS IT'S NOT PART OF THE TAKATA RECALL BUT I WANT TO BE SURE. I DON'T WANT TO DIE FROM IT EXPLODING AND I WANT IT CHECKED TO BE SURE. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED SO I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT MAY HAVE BEEN REPLACED BEFORE. I DON'T TRUST THE DEALERSHIP HERE. *TR
DURING COLD MORNINGS AND NOT EVERY COLD MORNING THE ACCELERATOR WILL BE STUCK SO YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE. ONCE THE CAR HEATS UP IT IS FINE. ON 10/22/14 A COOL MORNING (NOT COLD) THE ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 65 MPH. I HAD SLOWED DOWN FOR A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND COULD NOT RE-ACCELERATE DUE TO THE STUCK PEDAL. MY SPEED WAS RAPIDLY DECREASING AND I HAD TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO GET TO SHOULDER (AND NOT HIT) WHERE AFTER PUTTING MY FULL BODY WEIGHT ON THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES TO FINALLY GET IT WORKING AGAIN. CAR STARTED NORMALLY. DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON AS USUAL. LIGHTS WENT OUT IN SEQUENCE AS USUAL. NORMAL DRIVING STARTED WITH NO ABNORMAL DASHBOARD DISPLAY. MOMENTS LATER ALL DASHBOARD LIGHT STARTED FLASHING OFF AND ON ERATICALLY. THERE WAS NO EFFECT ON DRIVING THAT COULD BE DISCERNED. ALL THE CAR HANDLING FEATURES SEEMED NORMAL. AS DRIVING CONTINUED SOME OR ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND OFF ERATICALLY. THE ONLY LIGHT THAT STAYED ON WHEN THE REST WENT OUT WAS THE ENGINE SYMBOL LIGHT. THE FUEL GAUGE ALSO INDICATED NO-FUEL ERATICALLY. *TR

DAUGHTER WAS HIT ON FRONT DRIVER SIDE BY SOMEBODY RUNNING A RED LIGHT AND PUSHING HER CAR INTO A METAL POLE AND EMBANKMENT THAT BENT THE PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL AND CAUSED FLUID TO GUSH FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR PLUS, NOT TO MENTION THAT SHE IS 6 MONTHS PREGNANT AND AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. *TR

WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND BROKE DOWN. CAR TOWED TO GARAGE AND ALTERNATOR REPLACED ALONG WITH THE BATTERY. THE CAR RAN FINE FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK WHERE AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. AGAIN HAD IT TOWED TO THE GARAGE AND THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. A WEEK LATER THE CAR DID IT AGAIN AND AGAIN THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. I TOOK THE CARD TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD AN ELECTRICAL CHECK DONE AND THE ELECTRICAL TEST CAME BACK THAT THE BATTERY THAT WAS JUST PUT IT WAS LOW AND THE ALTERNATOR HAD TESTED FINE. CHANGED THE BATTERY AGAIN..YUP YOU GUESSED IT...IT DIED AGAIN. CHANGED THE BATTERY AGAIN AND THE CAR HAS NOW BEEN RUNNING FOR 2 WEEKS NOW. CALLED FORD'S HOME OFFICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT NOT THAT IT WILL DO ANYTHING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVERS DOOR, PASSENGER FRONT AND REAR DOOR EXTERIOR HANDLES WERE FRACTURED. THE FRACTURED DOOR HANDLES COULD ONLY OPEN THE DOORS USING THE HANDLES ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
MY FOCUSES REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WOULDN'T LOCK AND NEITHER OF THE REAR DOORS COULD LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IF SOMEONE (SMALL CHILD) PULLED THE HANDLE THEY COULD FALL OUT. I ALSO TRIED LOCKING THE CHILD LOCK BUT THEN THE DOOR WOULDN'T CLOSE. I HAD TO GET THIS FIXED AT A LOCAL AUTO SHOP AND IT COST $400. IT SEEMS LIKE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FOCUS. *TR
I'VE HAD THIS 05 FORD FOCUS FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS, ALL RESOLVED BUT THIS ONE. I WAS TAKING MY 4 YEAR OLD AND AUTISTIC 13 YEAR OLD STEP CHILDREN TO THE PARK LAST MONDAY AND MY CAR STARTED GOING HAYWIRE. IT WOULD LOSE AND GAIN POWER IN INTERVALS AND ALL OF THE DASH CLUSTER STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR LOST POWER AND DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH NO CARS IN SIGHT. ENDED UP HAVING TO WALK ALMOST 3 MILES WITH THEM BEFORE WE FINALLY SAW SOMEONE NICE ENOUGH TO GIVE US A RIDE. SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS DRAINED AND RUINED 3 BATTERIES AND TWO ALTERNATORS. MY DASH LIGHTS ARE NOW STAYING ON WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND BATTERIES KEEP GETTING DRAINED. THERE'S ALSO A CHIRP I'M ASSUMING SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE SECURITY SYSTEM OR THE WIRING HARNESS ON THE ALTERNATOR OR DASH. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE CAR OUT OF PARK FOR 6 DAYS AND IT IS/WAS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THESE TWO CHILDREN. I'M FINDING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THINGS DONE WITH SUCH AN UNRELIABLE CAR. THIS PROBLEM IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. *TR
WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED, AFTER WE GOT IT WE NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE WAS BROKE, THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES, AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER PROBLEMS THAT WORRY ME. THE HVAC CONTROLS ARE FROZEN IN THE AIR CONDITION AND COLD AIR POSITION. IF IT STARTS RAINING THE WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELD FOG UP MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE. *TR

OUR MECHANIC RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND SERVICE BULLETIN SEARCH FOR POSSIBLE MANUFACTURING ISSUES TO CAUSE THE TIRE WEAR. THE SOLUTION THAT FORD HAS COME UP WITH IT TO ADD 4 ADDITIONAL UPPER CONTROL ARMS AT $140 A PIECE PLUS LABOR. WHEN I SPOKE WITH FORD THEY INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS A KNOWN ONE BUT ARE UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE WAITING UNTIL PEOPLE ARE EITHER INJURED OR KILLED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ADVISED THEM THAT I WILL KEEP ALL RECEIPTS FOR NEW TIRES. THIS IS THE 4 SET OF TIRES IN 3 YEARS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I ADVISED THEM I WILL WAIT UNTIL THE TIRES ARE TOTALLY WORN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND DAMAGE AND THEN LET MY INSURANCE CARRIER DEAL WITH THEIR FAULTY VEHICLE. *TR

TURN SIGNAL STOPPED WORKING. REMOVED REAR TAIL LENSES TO REPLACE ALL THE BULB AND FOUND BRAKE/TURN SIGNAL SOCKET FUSED TO INTERIOR PORTION OF TAIL LENS INHIBITING REMOVAL DUE TO HEAT WARPAGE. WILL CONTACT DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT SOCKETS FOR RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES AND LENS REPLACEMENT FOR RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM DUE TO HAZARD OF NO TURN OR BRAKE LIGHT AND POOR DESIGN TO ALLOW BULB TO PRODUCE ENOUGH HEAT TO CAUSE THERMAL REACTION AND POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. *JS

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAD TO PLACE FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT HEAD LAMPS AND HIGH BEAMS . I BROUGHT THIS CAR OFF OF ENTERPRIZE DEALER IN NEVADA. OVER THE YEARS I BEGAN HAVEN LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. SO MUCH NEEDED TO BE DONE ON THIS CAR AND I SPENT LOTS OF MONEY TOO. NOT KNOWING UNTIL NOW THIS CAR HAS SOME RECALL ISSUES. THE BACK DOOR DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT LOCK. THE DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. I REPLACED THE DOOR HANDLE BUT IT WILL STILL NOT WORK. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE TOUCHING OPENING MECHANISM. *JS
THE GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK. MY DAUGHTERS JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR AS THERE FIRST CAR. IT IS NOT SAFE!!!! I AM VERY UPSET THAT THE THROTTLE SYSTEM OF THIS CAR IS NOT RECALLED BY THE MFG, WHEN I SEE THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
ENGINE AND FUEL CAP LIGHT CAME ON DASH. AFTER REPLACING CAP WITH A FORD GAS CAP AND CLEARING THE CODE AT A FORD DEALERSHIP THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON THE NEXT DAY. ALL ATTEMPTS TO CLEAR THE CODE WITH ANOTHER GAS CAP AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP RESULTED IN THE SAME RESULTS.
