OKAY THE VEHICLE IS 2009 BUT ONLY HAS 58,000 MILES. SOMETIMES I HAVE DIFFICULTY INSERTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION AND TRYING TO START CAR. I SOMETIMES HAVE TO TRY AND JIGGLE THE STEERING WHEEL. YESTERDAY I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF , TOOK THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION, OPENED THE DOOR TO EXIT THE CAR AND THE ALARM OR WARNING WOULDN'T SHUT OFF. I GOT BACK IN THE CAR, SHUT THE DOOR, IT STILL WOULDN'T SHUT OFF, SO I PUT THE KEY BACK IN THE IGNITION TO TURN IT ON THEN OFF AGAIN, AND THAT WORKED BUT I STILL HAVE OCCASIONAL ISSUES WITH STARTING THE CAR.
THE LITTLE PLASTIC THING ON THE SEAT BELT THAT PREVENTS THE LATCH FROM SLIDING DOWN TO TO BASE OF THE BELT BY THE DOOR FELL OF A WHILE AGO, AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO REPLACE IT.
THE BACK DOORS HAVE LOCKED, AND CANNOT BE UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY FOB, LOCK BUTTON OR MANUALLY.
THE MOTOR MOUNT WHICH SIT ON TOP OF THE ENGINE THAT CONSTANTLY MAKE THE ENTIRE CAR TO SHAKE EXTREMELY. MOTOR MOUNT WAS REPLACE AND WITHIN 6 MONTHS THE SAME RESULTS.
FUEL TANK RUSTED WHERE THE HALVES MEET AND LEAKS FUEL. CANNOT FILL OVER HALF WAY. STARTED AS A GAS SMELL LAST YEAR, DISCOVERED A DRIP THIS YEAR. TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCHES HAVE STOPPED WORKING. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY SON IN REAR SEAT AND THE DOOR CAME OPEN AROUND A TURN. THEY ARE LUBRICATED REGULARLY AND THEY WILL MOVE PROPERLY BUT INTERNALLY THEY WILL NOT LATCH, THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. I HAVE A STRAP HOLDING THE DOORS CLOSED. AT FIRST IT HAPPENED ONCE IN A WHILE. NOW THEY DON'T WORK AT ALL.
SOMETIMES THE CAR DOESN'T CRANK OR START AND IT HAS HAPPENED AROUND 6 TIMES SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2011. IT ISN'T THE BATTERY BECAUSE I HAVE JUST REPLACED IT BUT SEEMS LIKE THE IGNITION SWITCH OR CYLINDER IS THE PROBLEM. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
THE REAR DOOR LOCKS WILL BECOME INOPERATIVE AT ANY TIME. THE REAL SAFETY HAZARD IS THAT THE LOCKS WILL NOT EVEN MANUALLY OPERATE. THIS WILL IN EFFECT TRAP ANY REAR PASSENGER IN THE CAR. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE THIS COULD PROVE TO HAVE CATASTROPHIC RESULTS. ACCORDING TO FORD THE WHOLE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR MECHANISM MUST BE REPLACED.
THE CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING PERFECT THEN AFTER A MOTOR MOUNT WAS REPLACED THE CAR STARTED THEN WENT DEAD IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR WILL TURN OVER BUT IT ISN'T FIRING RIGHT NOW IT GAVE NO WARNING. THE COMPUTER READ A THROTTLE ACTUATOR TROUBLE CODE AND THAT'S ALL. THE CAR WILL KEEP TURNING OVER AFTER I RELEASE THE KEY IT HAS NOT DONE THIS BEFORE NOW WE HAD SOME TROUBLE WITH THE IGNITION LOCKING UP AND WE HAVE TO TURN IT REALLY HARD TO START GET THE KEY IN THE STARTING POSITION. THE IGNITION SYSTEM IS ONE OF THE PROBLEMS AND THE THROTTLE BODY WILL UPDATE WHEN I FIND OUT MORE.
AT APPROX. 50,000 MILES THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN EVENTUALLY UNABLE TO TURN KEY OVER. HAD A NEW SWITCH INSTALLED AND NOW SIX MONTHS LATER IT'S STARTING TO GO OUT AGAIN. VERY POOR QUALITY SWITCH.
I EXITED THE HIGHWAY VIA AN OFF RAMP AND HIT THE BREAKS TO SLOW DOWN. MY BACK END SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND I HIT THE GUARDRAIL WITH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY CAR. MY CAR WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS, MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MILES PER HOUR, THE CAR DROPPED OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL AND COASTED TO 5 MILES PER HOUR. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL HAD NO RESULT. WE WERE LUCKY TO AVOID COLLISION WITH NEARBY CARS AND COASTED OFF THE INTERSTATE INTO A PARK AND RIDE LOT. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER REPAIR. WE WERE TOLD BY FORD DEALER THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD DIED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS FORD CERTIFIED PREOWNED CAR IS STILL COVERED BY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THROTTLE BODY. NUMEROUS ACTIONS WITH FORD REGARDING FAULTY THROTTLE BODIES IS WIDELY REPORTED AND WE BELIEVE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IN A FORMAL RECALL FOR 2009 FORD FOCUS. REPAIR IS $875 WHICH WE BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE COVERING.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT STEADY 70MPH, ENGINE DROPPED TO IDLE SPEED. NO PRIOR INDICATION OF TROUBLE. VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN. WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT. I PUT IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL, AND COASTED UNTIL I REACHED AN AREA AREA WHERE I COULD PULL OFF TO THE SIDE. THIS WAS IN A TIGHT CONSTRUCTION AREA. FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND NOT NEAR OTHER VEHICLES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. OTHERWISE THE OUTCOME MIGHT HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFERENT. WHEN I WAS STOPPED, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, BUT ACCELERATOR HAD NO EFFECT. WITH NO ALTERNATIVE, I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I THEN STARTED THE ENGINE. OPERATION APPEARED NORMAL WITH NO WRENCH LIGHT ON. I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND CHECKED CONNECTED MY CODE READER. NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES. DURING SOME SUBSEQUENT DRIVING, THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER EVENTS OR INDICATION OF PROBLEMS. I AM GETTING A FORD OEM THROTTLE BODY TO REPLACE MY EXISTING. THIS IS APPARENTLY A KNOWN FORD PROBLEM THAT HAS AVOIDED A RECALL DESPITE THE POTENTIAL DANGERS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TYPE OF FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE IDLED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE ONLY IF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 15 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE WARNING LIGHT DIMMED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,600.
I HAD $2765 WORTH OF TRANSMISSION REPAIR ON A 2009 FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION WITH 81,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR WAS PROPERLY SERVICED. I PURCHASED A PIECE OF JUNK.
BEFORE TAKING A RIGHT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT, I TURNED MY BLINKER ON (WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE) AND THE CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD INSTEAD OF TURNING. I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR SPEEDED UP EVEN MORE. I FINALLY CRASHED INTO A FENCE ONTO PRIVATE PROPERTY. THEN I CAME TO A FULL STOP WHEN I HIT AN SUV. THIS CRASH COMPLETELY DAMAGED THE FRONT OF MY 2009 FORD FOCUS.
FREEWAY DRIVING AT 70 MPH THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR THE THROTTLE BODY/TRANSMISSION LIGHT UP AND THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE. VERY DANGEROUS AT THESE SPEEDS. SAME PROBLEM AS THE FORD ESCAPE THAT WERE UNDER THE WARRANTY EXTENTION
THE BACK DOOR LOOKS STAY LOCKED, YOU CAN NO LONGER UNLOCK WITH KEY POD NOR MANUALLY ON THE INSIDE. BACK SEAT IS USELESS TO ME NOW. I HAVE TRIED VARIOUS THINGS LIKE CHANGING FUSES SEEING IF I COULD FORCE UNLOCK. BUT I DON'T USE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS SO DON' T THINK THAT IS ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, AN ONCOMING VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HEAD-ON. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND CHEST INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION DEPOT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,500.
ON COLD START RPM'S FLUCTUATE SEVERAL HUNDRED RPM'S. BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP BUT NO CODES WERE PRESENT. TECH SUSPECTED DIRTY THROTTLE BODY. PART NOT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE NO CODES WHEN SCANNED. PROBLEM CONTINUES ESPECIALLY ON COLD START BUT OCCASIONALLY WHILE IN DRIVE AT A STOP. *TR
MY VEHICLE A FORD FOCUS 2009 BECAUSE OF POOR VISIBILITY WENT OFF THE ROAD TRAVELING NORTH ON HWY 76 (SAN DIEGO COUNTY, PALOMAR MT. AREA). THE CAR WENT OFF THE ROAD AT THE END OF HWY 76 AT HWY 79 IN THE MT. PALOMAR AREA NEAR LAKE HENSHAW. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DESPITE THE FRONT END OF THE CAR BEING SEVERELY DAMAGED.
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY (IN THE FAR LEFT LANE) WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY APPEARED TO DIE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON.THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD I PRESSED DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL. I THEN HAD TO DODGE TRAFFIC AS I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OFF TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD (ACROSS TWO LANES DURING TRAFFIC) WHILE MY CAR CONTINUED TO DECELERATE. THIS, AT FIRST, HAPPENED RARELY, BUT NOW OCCURS 2-3 TIMES EVERY TIME I DRIVE AS MUCH AS 15 MILES. I HAVE READ COUNTLESS FORUMS ABOUT OTHERS WITH THE SAME CAR HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS, AND YET FORD IS DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT. THIS CAN BE AN EXTREMELY TERRIFYING AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES. FAR TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THROTTLE BODY/ACTUATOR PROBLEMS FOR THIS NOT TO BE A DESIGN FLAW ON FORD'S PART, AND, FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD, THEY'RE REFUSING TO HONOR OTHERS' WARRANTIES. I JUST SO HAPPEN TO BE JUST OUTSIDE MY WARRANTY; WHAT A "COINCIDENCE." I'M NOW LOOKING AT A $600 OUT OF POCKET REPAIR I SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD AT THIS TIME. SO INSTEAD I'M FORCED TO CONTINUALLY LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING MY CAR SUDDENLY DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC.

EVER SINCE WE TURNED OVER SIXTY THOUSAND MILES ON OUR FORD FOCUS SE 2009 WE HAVE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM WHERE OUR CAR'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL GO ON AND THE GAS PEDAL WILL STOP WORKING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS: PULL OVER, SHIFT INTO PARK, TURN THE CAR OFF AND START THE CAR AGAIN. AT THIS POINT THE CEL WILL GO OFF AND IT WILL BE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS IS TERRIFYING AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! THE FIRST TIME THAT THE CAR STALLED OR WENT INTO LIMP MODE WAS WHEN THE WEATHER WAS DAMP, SO WE THOUGHT IT WAS WEATHER RELATED. WE DECIDED TO HAVE THE DEALER LOOK AT THE CAR. WE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP. WE DROPPED THE CAR OFF SO THAT THE MECHANIC COULD DO A TEST DRIVE. AFTER AN ENTIRE DAY OF DRIVING, THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, OR PULL A DIAGNOSTIC CODE SO THEY GAVE OUR KEYS BACK AND SAID WE CANT DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU. THEY THEN SUGGESTED THAT THE NEXT TIME OUR CAR STALLS, IDLE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT DO NOT TURN IT OFF. REALLY!? THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED WE WERE TAKING A 500 MILE ROAD TRIP AND EXPERIENCED THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN AFTER ABOUT 250 MILES. THIS HAPPENED TWICE, ONCE IN TRAVELING TO OUR DESTINATION AND ONCE COMING HOME. THE CAR SHUT DOWN ONE TIME ON THE EXPRESSWAY GOING 70 MPH, HAVING TO MAKE A DOUBLE LANE CHANGE AND PULL OVER TO AVOID GETTING HIT. THE OTHER WHILE EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP AND PULLING ONTO A CROSSING ROAD. *TR
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY...IN THE PAST YEAR...ALL DOOR HANDLES HAVE BECOME BROKEN...I CAN NOT GET INTO VEHICLE FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE...I HAVE TO LEAVE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN TO OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE ON RAINY DAYS I HAVE TO LEAVE BACKSEAT DOWN TO ENTER THROUGH THE TRUNK OF VEHICLE TO GET INTO VEHICLE...THE BACK DOORS DO NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE...I AM CURRENTLY 28 WEEKS PREGNANT THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE AND IS BECOMING VERY DIFFICULT TO ENTER MY VEHICLE...NOT TO MENTION HOW UNSAFE IT IS AND WILL BE ONCE MY CHILD IS BORN.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHILE HAVING THE REPAIRS PERFORMED, THE TECHNICIAN NOTIFIED HIM THAT THE IGNITION HOUSING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THIS IS GETTING ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I AM ON MY SIXTH SET OF TIRES!! THEY WEAR UNEVEN AFTER LESS THAN 20K MILES MAKING A MORE THAN ANNOYING WOBBLE. I HAVE GOTTEN NUMEROUS ALIGNMENTS AND NEW SWAY ARM LINKS. DEALERSHIP SAID I NEEDED NEW BEARINGS ANOTHER ALIGNMENT AND ANOTHER SET OF TIRES! AT THIS POINT I HAVE SPENT OVER $6000 ON REPAIRS TO THIS VEHICLE ALL RELATED TO THE SAME ISSUE!!! THERE'S OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING WRONG THAT FORD NEEDS TO FIX! I HAVE SEEN TONS OF COMPLAINTS ON HERE INVOLVING THE SAME ISSUE, SO THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT RELATED TO MY DRIVING. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE MADE AND THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED! I DID NOT BUY THIS CAR BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT FOR 26K TO HAVE TO KEEP DUMPING MONEY INTO IT! THE FACT THAT FORD WILL NOT OWN UP TO THIS BEING A HORRIBLE ASSEMBLY/PLANNING/PRODUCT IS APPALLING AND I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD PRODUCT AGAIN!! *TR
AT 75 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE ALL OF THE SUDDEN SPUTTERED AND LOST ACCELERATION. THE WRENCH LAMP ILLUMINATED AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND NEARLY GETTING SIDESWIPED, SHUTTING DOWN THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING RESET THE ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES IN A 20 MINUTE SPAN. THE CHECK ENGINE FAILURE CODE ACQUIRED FROM ADVANCE AUTO WAS P2112 THROTTLE BODY STUCK OPEN. FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THE P2112 AND P2111 FAILURE CODES AND THAT THEY ARE AN ELECTRONIC DEFECT WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THIS PART HAS BEEN RECALLED ON 4 OTHER MODELS OF FMC VEHICLES. FORD HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE THE PART. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS PREVIOUSLY OWNED VEHICLE IN LATE SUMMER 2011. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000. WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS OF MY 2011 PURCHASE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR MONITOR FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON FRIDAY OCTOBER 17, 2014 THE TPSM HAD FAILED AGAIN AND WAS REPLACED. THE PROBLEM IS THIS - IT WAS THE.....5TH TIME... I'VE HAD A TPSM FAIL AND REPLACED. MY FOCUS HAS ONLY 32,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
WHILE STARTING TO DRIVE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND DOWN THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREET, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL, THE "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE IMMEDIATELY RETURNED HOME. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE LATER IN THE DAY, THE ISSUE WAS GONE. THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN IN THE DRIVEWAY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. A CALL WAS MADE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR. THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THREE SEPARATE TIMES THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE SHIFTED IN NEUTRAL TO RESTART THE CAR DURING A THREE MILE DRIVE. *TR
WEAR AND TEAR ON WHEELS. PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW, 2 YEARS AFTER BUYING THE CAR WITH ONLY 21000 MILES THE ORIGINAL TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED TIRES AND DID A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. 3 YEARS LATER AND ONLY 23000 MORE MILES AND NEW TIRES AGAIN. LUG NUTS WERE STRIPPED AND THE TIRES WERE WORN. THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE SUPPOSE TO LAST 45,000 MILES. THE SECOND SET THE SAME. NOW THE SET I JUST PURCHASED ARE GOODYEAR WITH A 60000 MILE TREAD. I ALSO PURCHASED A WARRANTY. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN FALL 2012 AND NOTICED THE ORIGINAL TIRES HAD DELAMINATED AND WORN HORRIBLY IN THE FRONT . WE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH ALIGNMENT WITH TOP OF THE LINE NOKIA WHICH SHOULD HAVE GIVEN US 70K WEAR. WE GOT READY FOR A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP FROM WASHINGTON TO FLORIDA. WE DISCOVERED THE TIRES NEEDED REPLACING BECAUSE OF REALLY UNEVEN WEAR ON THE INSIDE. WE DECIDED TO REPLACE THEM WHEN WE ARRIVED IN FLORIDA. WE GOT THEM INSTALLED AND HAD ANOTHER FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE. WE ARE HOPING THEY WON'T NEED ANOTHER SET FOR AT LEAST 60K MILES. READING THESE COMPLAINTS I'M NOT SO SURE NOW. WE SPENT $900 ON THE SET OF NOKIA HOPING THEY WOULD LAST. I'LL BE REALLY UPSET IF WE ONLY GET 20000 MILES OUT OF THIS NEW SE . IS THIS A VEHICLE PROBLEM?? *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 FORD FOCUS COUPE APPROX 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 10 IN THE CALIFORNIA DESERT AT 3PM WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY AND RAPIDLY DECELERATED. I WAS IN THE 2ND TO THE LEFT-HAND LANE AND THE RAPID DECELERATION VERY NEARLY CAUSED A MULTI-CAR COLLISION WITH THE CARS BEHIND TO MY RIGHT AND LEFT AS THE CAR DIRECTLY BEHIND ME SWERVED TO AVOID REAR-ENDING ME. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY CODES OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND RETURNED THE CAR TO ME AS IS. THIS CAR IS HIGHLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
TWO TIRES, WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES ON THEM, HAVE BOTH WORN DOWN ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE. THE TIRES THAT WE TOOK OFF PREVIOUS TO THESE DID THE SAME THING. CAR HAS BEEN ALIGNED AND TIRES ARE ROTATED ON A REGULAR BASIS. *TR
AT ANY RANDOM MOMENT, THE CAR'S WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR EITHER DIES OR BEGINS TO RUN HORRIBLY. THIS CAN HAPPEN IN TOWN OR ON THE HIGHWAY - ACCELERATING OR ON CRUISE CONTROL - IT DOESN'T MATTER. TURNING THE CAR OFF (IF IT DIDN'T DIE) AND TURNING IT BACK ON, THE WRENCH LIGHT GOES OFF AND THE CAR RUNS AGAIN. CODE INDICATES A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE BUT AFTER TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC TWICE, THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET A CODE OR FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR. THIS CAN REALLY BE A DANGEROUS ISSUE IF IT HAPPENS WHILE PASSING OR TURNING INTO AN INTERSECTION. ETC. *TR
ON HOT DAYS, THE FORD FOCUS INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT START AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. IT TAKES 30-45 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR STOPS AGAIN. THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OVER, IT ACTS AS THOUGH THE STARTER MOTOR IS GOING OUT. FORD IS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THIS WHILE IN THE SHOP, SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX IT. INVESTIGATING, I SEE THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE ON THE INTERNET FOR 2000-2012 FOCUSES. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT START UNTIL THE CAR WAS 4-5 YEARS OLD. THERE ARE MANY VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE SHOWING THIS SYMPTOM, I HAVE POSTED SEVERAL. I FEAR THAT IF I AM AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE ENGINE STOPS THAT I WILL BE UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. OR, IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, THE CAR WILL NOT START. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT 60 MPH WHEN THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN EVEN THOUGH I WAS DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. I THOUGHT THE ENGINE HAD DIED AND I WAS COASTING UNTIL I REALIZED THAT IT WAS STILL RUNNING BUT AT AN IDLE SPEED. I "COASTED" FOR 10 MILES AFRAID TO TURN IT OFF AND BE STRANDED. I GOT IT HOME AND TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT ACTED AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG AND HAD GOOD ACCELERATION. IT DID IT AGAIN YESTERDAY (07/18/2014) WHILE TRAVELING AT 75 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. SCARED ME TO DEATH AS I WAS SURROUNDED BY SEMI-TRAILERS AND HAD TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER WHERE THERE WAS LARGE TIRE PARTS AND RAN OVER THEM. I STOPPED THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT WITH NO ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION. I NOTICED AFTER THE "COASTING" INCIDENT THAT MY FUEL MILEAGE INCREASED TO 46 MPG. ON THE AVERAGE. IT WAS AROUND 35 BEFORE. *TR
THE CAR LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THE ENGINE WAS IDLING BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LET IT REST FOR A MINUTE. I TURNED IT BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE THE CAR FINE. THIS HAPPENED SIX TIMES (LOSING POWER) ON MY WAY HOME. I WAS TRAVELING TO AN EVENT AND HAD DRIVEN 200 MILES WHEN I HAD TO TURN AROUND. THIS WAS A DRIVING HAZARD - ESPECIALLY ON A HIGHWAY! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FAILED TO TURN IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH, IGNITION CYLINDER AND THE HOUSING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000. UPDATED 9/4/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE KEY WOULD TURN IN THE IGNITION BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A SCHOOL LOT AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I WAS GOING LESS THAN 5 MPH. FOR NO REASON WITH MY FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE THE CARS ENGINE UNEXPLAINED RACED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO FORWARD STRIKING THE BACK OF A PICKUP. THE VEHICLE BOUNCED OFF THAT VEHICLE AND I HIT ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE SENDING IT INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. ALL THIS TIME I HAD NO CONTROL AS THE ENGINE WAS STILL RACING AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. MY HUSBAND WHO WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT REACHED OVER AND PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. ALL THE VEHICLES THAT WERE STRUCK WERE PARKED AT THE TIME. HOWEVER THERE WERE CHILDREN WALKING INTO THE SCHOOL FOR AN AWARDS CEREMONY. THERE WAS SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO ALL THE VEHICLES. IN THE FALL OF 2013 THIS HAPPENED TO THE ENGINE AS I WAS PULLING INTO A BALL FIELD,AGAIN WITH CHILDREN PRESENT. MY HUSBAND HAD TO REACH OVER AND TURN THE IGNITION OFF. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE. UPON CHECKING WITH FORD THEY STATED THAT THERE WEER NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM. SPRAY SILICONE TO THE THROTTLE BODY!!! AFTER THE MAY 29TH INCIDENT I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AGAINST AGAINST THE FORD MOTOR CORP. FOR THIS PROBLEM. IN THE SUIT A LIST OF THEIR MAKES AND MODELS WERE LISTED. IN MY CASE THE FORD FOCUS YEARS 2008-2010 WAS LISTED.. MY CLAIMS ADJUSTER WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAD THE SAME PRINT OUT. I ASKED IF MY INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD SUBROGATE AGAINST FORD AND HE POLITELY SAID NO AS IT WAS A LOSING BATTLE. I'AM APPALLED THAT THE FORD CO. HAD NO RECALL, AS OF THIS DATE THERE ARE NONE FOR THIS YEAR AND FAILED TO MAKE IT KNOWN TO ALL THESE VEHICLE OWNERS. MY CAR LOST POWER AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. I WAS PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THE CAR WAS NOT RECEIVING ANY POWER. I WAS TOLD MY THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE. ALL OF THE HANKOOK TIRES HAD TREAD SEPARATION. ONE WAS SO BAD THAT IT SEPARATED ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TIRE SO THAT IT WAS SEPARATED LIKE A DOUGHNUT WAS ON THE SURFACE. I ALWAYS HAVE THE CORRECT PRESSURE BUT THESE TIRES WERE DANGEROUS WHEN THEY CAME APART. THE TIRE REPAIR PERSON COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW BAD THEY WERE. I KEPT THE TIRES TO SHOW ANYONE ABOUT THESE HAZARDS. *TR
FORD FOCUS 2009 APRIL 25, 2014 I HAD APPOINTMENT FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TUNE UP. WAS TOLD THERE WAS OIL IN MY SPARK PLUG WELLS AND I NEEDED A VALVE COVER GASKET REPLACED. TOTAL BILL $376.65 THEN 5 DAYS LATER ON APRIL 30TH, WHEN I STARTED MY CAR IT WOULD NOT RUN CORRECTLY AND WAS CHUGGING AND SPUTTERING REALLY BAD. THE THROTTLE CONTROL/ TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I CHECKED THE MILES I HAD DRIVEN AND IT WAS EXACTLY 25 MILES SINCE THE OIL/TUNEUP/GASKET CHANGE. I CALLED THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THEY SAID TO DRIVE IT OVER. IT WOULD HARDLY RUN SO I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. THEN THEY CALLED TO TELL ME THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AT AN ESTIMATED $800 TO FIX IT. THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART AND IT WOULD BE A FEW DAYS. MAY 5, 2014, DEALERSHIP CALLED TO INFORM ME THE HOUSING FOR THE THROTTLE BODY IS ALSO BAD AND IT WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL $54 TO REPLACE THAT WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 FORD FOCUS. WHEN TURNING ON THE VEHICLE ONE MORNING A WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON AND PRESSING ON THE GAS THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. WHEN TAKING IT TO MECHANIC I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE P2111 AND THE THROTTLE CAP WAS STUCK OPEN. THIS IS A KNOWN FORD PROBLEM AND THE ESCAPE HAD THEM RECALLED ALREADY. THE CAR ONLY HAS 26,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS A 3 YEAR WARRANTY UNFORTUNATELY NOT COVERED. *JS

THE CAR REMAINED IDLING, HOWEVER I STILL HAD NO THROTTLE CONTROL. THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF AND I ONCE AGAIN HAD THROTTLE CONTROL. I EASED THE CAR BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY BUT NOTICED THE CAR HAD DIFFICULTY HOLDING A CONSTANT AND STEADY SPEED. THERE WERE INTERMITTENT SUBTLE SURGES AND PAUSES IN THE SPEED. ONCE I REACHED MY DESTINATION I HAD A FORD DEALERSHIP RUN A DIAGNOSTICS ON THE CAR AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES OR PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. I THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND OTHERS WERE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND IT WAS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE SENSOR. I HAD CONTACTED A NUMBER OF NATIONAL PARTS SUPPLIERS AND THEY COULD NOT SELL ME JUST THE SENSOR BUT WOULD HAVE TO SELL ME THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY HAD A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. SINCE REPLACING THE THROTTLE SENSOR I HAVE PUT OVER 1200 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD TO THIS POINT NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH THROTTLE CONTROL. *JS
VEHICLE HAS MUCH GREATER TIRE WEAR THAN NORMAL ON REAR TIRES. THIS IS A RESULT OF THE WRONG CAMBER ON THE REAR WHEELS OF THIS CAR!! FORD MANUFACTURED IT THIS WAY!!! THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IS WITH NEW CONTROL ARMS, WHICH FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE AT THEIR COST. WITH THE WRONG CAMBER, EACH REAR TIRE ACQUIRES CUPPING EITHER ON THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE TREAD ON THE TIRE. I HAVE SEVERE CUPPING ON THE INSIDE LR AND MODERATE CUPPING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TREAD ON THE RR. THIS WEAR PATTERN PRODUCES AN OUT OF BALANCE CONDITION AND AS SUCH A SAFETY HAZARD. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND CORRECTED, I FEEL THAT I'VE BEEN SOLD A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT !! *TT
