2012 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE LUG NUTS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE LUG NUTS IN THE TIRES HAD SWOLLEN PREVENTING THE TIRES FROM BEING ROTATED*JS
THE POWER STEER FAILS WHEN STARTED AND INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE POWER STEERING FAILURE AFTER STARTING HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER A YEAR. TODAY THE CHECK ENGINE LINE CAME ON AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY AND WARNED ME THE POWER STEERING HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE HAS 100,700 MILES ON IT.
I OWN A 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL. AN ERROR CODE HAS COME UP FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS WHEN STARTING THE CAR "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" IT WILL USUALLY GO AWAY BUT ON JAN 13TH 2020 I WAS LEAVING WORK AND IT WOULD NOT GO AWAY AND I COULD NOT MOVE MY CAR. THE ERROR REMAINED AND I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BECAUSE I COULD NOT STEER THE CAR AT ALL. I AM ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY LIVING IN GERMANY ON ORDERS AND MY CAR IS NOW AT THE FORD GARAGE WITH A QUOTE OF 1,860 EURO TO FIX THE POWER STEERING. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT FORD HAS NOT RECOGNIZED THIS AS A NEED FOR A SAFETY RECALL AND CAR OWNERS ARE HAVING TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR THIS PART WHEN I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MECHANICS IT IS DUE TO THE PART BEING PLACED IN AN INCORRECT PLACE CAUSING IT TO ERROR OUT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE ERROR HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING AS WELL, LEAVING YOU WITH NO CONTROL TO STEER THE CAR. I AM OUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN RENTAL FEES WHILE MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT A GERMAN FORD DEALERSHIP WAITING FOR REPAIRS.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50MPH ON A COUNTRY ROAD THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND NUMEROUS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. A TRANSMISSION FAILURE WARNING APPEARED AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE ELECTRIC STEERING BECAME INOPERATIVE AND STEERED THE VEHICLE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AVOIDANCE AND STOPPING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD REQUIRED AN ESTIMATED 60-80LBS OF FORCE TO REGAIN MINIMAL STEERING AND BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. ONCE STOPPED NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ON THE CAR INCLUDING LIGHTS, WIPERS, AND OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BEGAN TO ACTIVATE AND DEACTIVATE IN A SEEMINGLY RANDOM FASHION. THIS CAR IS ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE!
ON JANUARY 3, 2020 I HAD MY CAR SERVICED BY BEAU TOWNSEND FORD IN VANDALIA, OH FOR RECALL NUMBER 18V735000. THEY REPLACED THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE. ON JANUARY 10, 2020; WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO NASHVILLE, TN MY CAR STALLED OUT WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I THEN HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TOW THE CAR TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE. I THEN CALL THE FORD COMPANY WHO TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO WYATT JOHNSON IN NASHVILLE, TN TO BE REPAIRED. I HAD TO PAY FOR A TOW TO THAT DEALERSHIP AND UPON INSPECTION; THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK, EVAP CANISTER AND FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME $1366 TO COMPLETE THE WORK.
VEHICLE PURCHASED AUGUST 30, 2012. TWO RECALLS FOR POWER SHIFT SIX SPEED AUTO TRANS,CLUTCH SHUDDER. TAKEN IN BOTH TIMES IN ACCORDANCE WITH WARRANTY AND RECALL INSTRUCTIONS. IN BOTH INSTANCES VEHICLE WAS NEVER FIXED BASED ON SAFETY CODES AND INSTRUCTIONS. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR AND DEALERSHIP. IN BOTH INSTANCES COMPLIANCE WAS REFUSED. LAST BREAKDOWN, JAN. 2020, REGARDING RECALL WAS DENIED DUE TO CLAIMS THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY WARRANTED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR RECALL ISSUE AGAIN, AND WAS TOLD VEHICLE WAS NOT WARRANTED FOR CLUTCH AND UNSAFE TO OPERATE. I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER SAFE TO DRIVE! THEREFORE, NOT ONLY DO I NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO FIX THE ORIGINAL RECALL, BUT I DO NOT HAVE ANY VEHICLE OR ACCESS TO A VEHICLE. RECALLS ARE NOT EVER TO BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSUMER, ESPECIALLY WHEN VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY BROUGHT UP TO CODES AND STANDARDS IN THE FIRST PLACE. ALL ATTEMPTS TO NEGOTIATE A CIVIL OUTCOME HAVE FAILED, AND NOW FORD HAS COMPLETELY LOCKED ME OUT OF ALL ACCESS TO ANY REPS. AND/OR UPPERS AUTHORITY SUPERVISORS, THUS FORCING ME TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT, WHICH I HOPE RESOLVES THIS ISSUE AND PREVENTS ME FROM OBTAINING LEGAL REPRESENTATION. AS A SIDE NOTE, IF FORD OR WOLTZ AND WIND REFUSES TO MAKE THIS WRONG, RIGHT - I WILL ALSO BE MOVING FORWARD TO THE ATTY GENERAL AS WELL AS CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY FAIR TO BOTH PARTIES (INCLUDING YOURSELF) TO LET YOU KNOW ALL COPIES FROM THIS AND ANY OTHER DECISIONS AND/OR CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE COPIED AND FORWARDED TO SAID ENTITIES NAMED. WHENEVER IT RAINS AND I'M USING MY WIPERS THEY WILL JUST SHUT OFF RANDOMLY OR THEY DO A VERY INCONVENIENT DELAY AT THE WORST OF TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S RAINING HARD. IT'S DANGEROUS AND YOU CAN'T SEE. ODDLY ENOUGH MY HORN DON'T WORK EITHER. I GOT THE CAR JANUARY 1ST,2020 OF COURSE IT WAS PREVIOUSLY OWNED I GOT IT FROM A USED CAR DEALER THE HORN WORKED UNTIL I THINK MARCH, 2020. I HIT A BUMP AND IT'S LIKE IT JUST QUIT AFTER THAT THEN A COUPLE WEEK LATER I GOT A BUMP AGAIN AND IT STARTED WORKIN FOR A LITTLE BIT. THEN A COUPLE DAYS WENT BY AND IT JUST STOPPED NEVER TO WORK AGAIN. CHECKED ALL THE FUSES THEY ALL LOOKED GOOD NONE LOOKED BLOWN. IT'S SCARY BECAUSE SO MANY TIMES PEOPLE WILL EITHER PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ME LIKE THEY DON'T SEE ME OR ALMOST HIT ME AND I HAVE NO WAY TO ALERT THEM THAT THEY ALMOST HIM ME AND NEED TO PAY ATTENTION. THEN THERE'S THE WHOLE HAVING TO TAKE OFF SLOWLY IF NOT AND YOU TAKE OFF FAST IT THE CAR WILL JERK AND STALL AND IT DOES IT REALLY WHEN SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING AND NOW THE RPM DROP SO LOW WHEN IDLING IT ALMOST DIES. I JUST REPLACE THE MOTOR A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND IT WAS DOING THIS BEFORE THE NE MOTOR GOT OUT IN JUST NOT AS BAD. AND IT'S LIKE YOU CAN PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND PUSH IT BUT THE CAR. AREN'T BEG JL AND GOES... IT'S SCARY TO ME AND I USUALLY ALWAYS HAVE MY KID WITH ME. IT FREAKS ME OUT BECAUSE NOT ONLY DOES IT STALL OR WHATEVER IT'S DOING I HAVE NO HORN TO LET PEOPLE KNOW TO GO AROUND I KNOW A GIRL I WORK WITH HER DAUGHTER HAS THE SAME CAR AS ME AND STALKING HAS GOTTA. *TR
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY CAR THIS MORNING WHEN I STARTED IT. IT FLASHED AN ERROR MESSAGE. AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND RESTARTING IT ABOUT 3 TIMES, IT BEGAN TO WORK. I HAVE READ THAT THIS CAN OCCUR AS I AM DRIVING. I AM TERRIFIED THIS CAR IS GOING TO KILL ME, AND I JUST BOUGHT IT USED AND AM PAYING PAYMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION...YET.
MY WIFE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE NOTICE (19S22) IN JANUARY 2019. CONCERNED, SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION ON 1/10/19 TO PRATER FORD EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY ISSUE AT THE TIME. PRATER FOR SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG BUT INSISTED ON REPROGRAMMING THE PCM. AS OF RECENTLY, WE ARE EXPERIENCING NEAR STALL DURING DRIVING AND TROUBLE CRANKING AND REMAINING CRANKED WHEN REFUELING. TODAY (1/2/20) WE TOOL THE VEHICLE TO PRATER FOR INSPECTION UNDER THE RECAL. THEY CONFIRMED THE CODE P1450 (CANISTER PURGE VALVE) WAS INFACT THE PROBLEM RELATED TO THE RECAL, HOWEVER, THEY REFUSED TO PERFORM THE WORK BECAUSE FORD DENIED THEIR REPAIR ORDER REQUEST (#093013) CITING THE RECALL HAD ALREADY PREVIOUSLY BEEN SERVIED. I CALLED FORD AND THEY CONFIRMED. THEREFORE, WHEN WORK WASN'T NEEDED THEY "SERVICED" THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, WHEN THE REAL ISSUE PRESENTED ITSELF THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. WE ARE CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF THE OCCUPANTS, INCLUDING OUR TWO CHILDREN, AS THE PROBLEM CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. ALSO TROUBLING, IS FORD AND THE DEALERSHIPS SHADY ATTEMPT TO CIRCUMNAVIGATE THE RECALL BY CLAIMING WORK WAS DONE THOUGH IT WASN'T NEEDED. WE ARE HOPING YOU CAN HELP OR ADVISE US IN THE MATTER.
MY VEHICLE IS SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF A CLUTCH ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY FORD. DEALER SAID THIS IS EXACTLY THE ISSUE BUT CANT COVER IT UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE ITS PAST 7 YEAR. THE CAR IS UNDER 100K MILES SO I FEEL THIS SHOULD STILL BE ADDRESSED.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND IT WAS SAID THAT THE CATAYLIC CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT FORD WILLINGLY AND KNOWINGLY SOLD CARS WITH FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS. AFTER MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS AND A CLASS ACTION , FORD EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES UNDER 14M01 (7YEARS/100,000 MILES) AND 14M02(10 YEARS/ 150,000) MILES . MY CAR , ALONG WITH MULTIPLE OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT CAN BE FOUND ONLINE,IS EXPERIENCING SAME SHUDDERING ISSUES AT LOW SPEEDS THAT ARE COVERED UNDER THE 14M01 EXTENDED WARRANTY. HOWEVER, MY CAR IS AT 110,000 MILES AND PER FORD AND DEALER ARE NOT COVERED. THE ISSUES ARE CLEARLY RELATED TO A DESIGN FLAW FROM FORD, AND NOT AS A RESULT OF A VEHICLE MILAGE/AGE. I AM REQUESTING THAT FORD EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO SAME AS 14M02 AS IT IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW FROM THE FACTORY. THE SHAFT SEAL LEAKS FLUID IN THE CLUTCH, AND FORD HAS ADMITTED THIS FLAW , AND IT DOESN'T MATTER OF THIS HAPPENED UNDER 100,000 MILES OR OVER 100,000 MILES, THE ISSUE LIES WITH THE DESIGN.
WHEN FIRST ACCELERATING FROM 0 MPH, THE CAR WILL STRUGGLE TO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. IT CONSTANTLY JUMPS AND JERKS BETWEEN 10-20 MPH. IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE WHO IS NEWLY LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE A STICK SHIFT IS SHIFTING THE CAR. AS AN AUTOMATIC, IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED WITH THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME THE COMPUTER HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED.
THE HORN DOESN'T WORK ALL THE TIME ALONG WITH THE DOORS NOT ALWAYS LOCKING OR UNLOCKING. THE HORN CONCERNS ME DEEPLY. I DON'T HAVE A RADIO HAVEN'T HAD ONE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS I FILED A COMPLAINT A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. I'M A FORD PERSON AND I REALLY WISH FORD WERE TAKE CARE IF THESE ISSUES. A HORN IS A PRETTY IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE CAR.
BREAKS FAILED. WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A CITY ROAD THAT IS ALSO DEEMED A HIGHWAY AND WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT. TRIED TO STOP GOING APPROX 15 MPH FELT A CLICK AND THEN NOTHING, BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE.
A MESSAGE COMES ON THE DASH SAYING STEEEING ASSIST MALFUNCTION. WHEN THIS MESSAGE COMES ON ALL POWER STEERING IS LOST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE SLOWLY TO HIS DESTINATION. JOE MACHENS FORD (1911 W WORLEY ST, COLUMBIA, MO 65203, (573) 445-4411) STATED THAT THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $2,700. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE SINCE THEY WERE CLEARED BY THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION BOARD. AN INVESTIGATION WAS CONDUCTED AND THE STEERING SYSTEM WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. *PM*JB
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE PREVIOUS RECALL. THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO ACT UP IN THE PAST FEW DAYS. IT'S STUTTERING AND THE JERKING MOVING FROM A STOP. MY BROTHER WHO IS A MECHANIC SAYS IT'S PROBABLY THE CLUTCH AGAIN. IS IT COVERED UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL. IT HAS 136500 MILES ON IT. I NEED THE CAR FOR BOTH MY JOBS. I'LL NOT PAYING $2000 FOR A NEW CLUTCH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (AL PACKER LINCOLN 1550 N MILITARY TRL, WEST PALM BEACH, FL 33409) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PARTIALLY REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE MILEAGE FOR THE COMPLETION, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD EXCEEDED 100,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE DEALER INFORMATION WAS CONFIRMED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 132,000.
VEHICLE WOULD LOSE MOTIVE POWER IN LONG TURNING OFF/ON RAMPS WHEN FUEL LEVEL GOT DOWN TO JUST ABOVE A 1/4 TANK AT FIRST THEN AS TIME PROGRESSED THE SAME ISSUE WOULD OCCUR IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. NARROWLY AVOIDED ACCIDENTS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DUE TO THIS. VEHICLE NEVER THREW A CODE FOR ANYTHING, IT WOULD JUST STOP RUNNING. I TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALER TO PERFORM MANUFACTURER RECALL 18S32, THEY JUST REPORGRAMMED IT AND GAVE IT BACK. PROBLEM GOT BETTER AT FIRST BUT DID NOT GO AWAY. SINCE THE RECALL WORK ANOTHER RECALL HAS COME OUT AND THE LEVEL OF FUEL I NEED WENT FROM ABOVE 1/4 TO ABOVE 1/2 A TANK OF FUEL. WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE READS 1/2 A TANK THE VEHICLE WILL TAKE BETWEEN 7 AND 8 GALLONS OF GAS (THE FUEL LEVELS ON THE GAUGE ARE WRONG) THIS MORNING I LOST MOTIVE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC AT LOW SPEEDS WITH A FULL TANK OF FUEL AND IT FINALLY THREW THE CODE P00C6 TWICE, WHICH AFTER LOOKING IT UP I IDENTIFIED THIS TO BE SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF INSUFFICIENT FUEL PRESSURE AT THE FUEL RAIL. I PLAN ON TURNING THE CAR IN TO HAVE THE SECOND RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE PERFORMED IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND, ACCORDING TO THE RECALL FROM FORD, THIS SHOULD CONSTITUTE REPLACEMENT OF SEVERAL COMPONENTS IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. I WANT THIS ON RECORD BEFORE TAKING THE VEHICLE IN. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING AND HAS MADE ME LATE FOR AND MISS WORK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS.
SHUDDERING SHAKING FROM TAKE OFF THROUGH 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AND ALSO TAKES A WHILE TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR.
MY 2012 FOCUS HAS HAD SHUDDER PROBLEMS AND SOME SCARY CLOSE CALLS WITH THE CLUTCH SINCE I BOUGHT IT THREE YEARS AGO. EVERY TIME I TOOK IT TO BE CHECKED THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT DIDN'T MEET THE CRITERIA TO GET FIXED. WELL GUESS WHAT...MY EXTENDED WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT AND NOW THEY TELL ME I NEED THE CLUTCH! THE SERVICE GUY SAID HE HAS TO CONTACT FORD AND HOPEFULLY THEY 'WILL BE IN A GOOD MOOD' SO THEY WILL HELP! I'M PUTTING IN THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES, NOR CAN I FINANCIALLY! FROM EVERYTHING I'VE READ THEY WON'T BE HELPING!
WHILE MAKING A TURN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MOVE THEN THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO 7000 RPM THEN SLAMMED INTO GEAR THE NEXT SHIFT DID THE SAME THING. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ON COMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. AFTER PULLING OVER THE VEHICLE HAD NO REVERSE AND COULD ONLY BE DRIVEN AT VERY LOW SPEEDS WITHOUT FEELING LIKE IT WAS GOING INTO NEUTRAL BEFORE SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE DEALER WHO HAS STATED IT HAS A TRANSMISSION CONCERN. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!
SECOND & THIRD TIME THE POWER STEERING HAS LOCKED OUT ON THIS VEHICLE WHILE STATIONARY, THANK GOD. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SHOWED A MESSAGE READING "STEERING FAULT AND IT WAS AMBER IN COLOR. TURN OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTED VEHICLE AS MY SPOUSE TOLD ME AND STEERING WAS OK. DROVE TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION AND STOPPED ABOUT ONE HOUR LATER STARTED TO RESTART VEHICLE TO THE SYSTEM WARNING AND STATUS MESSAGES CLUSTER WAS ON AND AMBER IN COLOR, TURN OFF AND RESTART VEHICLE AND IT WAS OK, DROVE HOME AND IT IS AS OF THIS DATE STILL WORKING. .
DRIVING IN RAIN ON COUNTRY TWO LANE HIGHWAY AT 35 TO 45 MPH, TURNED ON SLOW WINDSHIELD WHIPPERS AND ONLY DRIVER SIDE CAME ON FOR A FEW SWIPES THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE WHIPER CAME ON FOR TWO PASSES. FOR THE NEXT 10-MINUTES WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN, ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE WHIPER WORKED. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE PASSENGER SIDE WHIPER CAME ON (OUT OF SINK) AND CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE WHIPER CAUSING THE PASSENGER SIDE TO STOP IN MOTION. I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD!! ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE WHIPER WORKED UNTIL I GOT HOME. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR EVER SINCE THIS EVENT. I WILL CALL MY REPAIR SHOP TODAY TO SEE IF HE CAN FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, BUT WAS LATER NOT APPROVED AFTER THE CORRECT VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS PROVIDED. THE DEALER QUOTED A COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, WHICH INVOLVED REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND REPROGRAMMING THE NEW PART FOR SAFE OPERATION ON THE ROADS. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER RECHECKED THE WARRANTY INFORMATION TO CONFIRM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER COVERED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,900.

STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION WARNING WITH LOSS OF POWER STEERING. HAPPENED AT START UP. TURNED CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THE 4TH TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE POWER ASSIST DID NOT RESUME. CAR NOW HAS NO POWER STEERING AT ALL.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.
WE HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED 3 TIMES AND ARE READY WITH OUR FOURTH CLUTCH (NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY! $2200!). THE DUAL-CLUTCH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND FORD HAS NOT FIXED IT. THEY CONTINUE TO REPLACE THE PART WITH ONE THAT FAILS AT 25,000 MILES.YOU KNOW IT'S A CLUTCH WHEN THE CAR IS SHUDDERING, STRUGGLES TO SWITCH BETWEEN GEARS AND DOES NOT FEEL LIKE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY. FORD REFUSES TO STAND BEHIND THEIR CAR THAT THEY KNOWINGLY SOLD EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS. WE FIRST TOOK OUR CAR IN FOR SHUDDERS AT 2,000 MILES AND WERE TOLD IT WAS NORMAL. THE LAST REPAIR TOOK ALMOST 1 MONTH.
DRIVING FORD FOCUS ON HIGHWAY AT ROUGHLY 70 MPH. CAR DASH GAVE ERROR SAYING TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION WHILE DRIVING. AFTER ERROR CAME UP WHILE DRIVING, WHEN I HIT THE GAS PEDAL, NOTHING HAPPENED AND I LOST ALL ACCELERATION CONTROL OF VEHICLE. I HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY. TURNED OFF CAR LET IT SIT ON HIGHWAY SHOULDER. WHEN RESTARTED, THE CAR MOVED BUT DID NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I HIT THE GAS. TOOK CAR TO FORD SERVICE CENTER WHERE THEY SAID ISSUE WAS WITH TCM AND CLUTCH WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO GO INTO A NEUTRAL STATE WHILE DRIVING.
MY DAUGHTER PULLED OUT HER PARKING SPACE AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BEYOND HARD TO TURN FOR AN ADULT MALE OR FEMALE, SUGGESTING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT A LACK OF POWER STEERING FLUID BUT THAT THE CAR'S STEERING MODULES FAILED, WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN.
I BACKED OUT MY FOCUS FROM THE GARAGE AND HEARD A BEEP OR NOISE TO ALERT ME OF A PROBLEM. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS RIGID AND DASH MESSAGE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT STEERING MALFUNCTION. IN ADDITION WAS A SQUARE BOX WITH AN "I" IN THE BOX. I THEN MOVED THE CAR BACK INTO THE GARAGE AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE.

The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed with a quarter tank of fuel; the vehicle shut off as the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. After the contact refueled the vehicle, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle eventually restarted after multiple attempts. The contact then called a dealer and made an appointment to have the vehicle serviced. The contact towed the vehicle himself to the dealer and after a few days of service, he was informed that no faults were found with the fuel tank. Once the vehicle was returned, the failure persisted; the contact then took the vehicle to Berglund Ford (834 E Main St, Salem, VA 24153) and he was informed that his vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V515000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the previous dealer had removed the recall from the vehicle after they failed to discover any fault with the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact a case number. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

THE RADIO ON THE STOCK FOCUS IS DANGEROUS. THE RANDOM STATIC AND LOUD NOISES COMING FROM THE RADIO IS A SAFETY HAZARD IT CAN SOUND LIKE AN EXPLOSION. I GOT ANXIETY SO BAD I HAD TO REMOVE MY STOCK RADIO HARNESS FROM THE BACK OF THE RADIO.
P073E DTC DEALER RECOMMENDS NEW TRANSMISSION AFTER CHANGING SHIFT MODULE. DAUGHTER WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHEN VEHICLE APPRUPTLY LOST POWER ON MAJOR ROADWAY.
VEHICLE IS A 2012 FORD FOCUS WITH ONLY 46,000 MILES. WHILE STARTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE INSTRUMENTATION PANEL SHOWED A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" MESSAGE AND ALL POWER STEERING WAS LOST. THIS NEARLY RESULTED IN HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE AS I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THE STEERING TO BECOME COMPLETELY MANUAL, IT WAS DIFFICULT AT SUCH A SLOW SPEED TO TURN THE WHEEL. IN SPEAKING WITH FORD THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR MULTIPLE VEHICLES AND MULTIPLE YEARS FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT THE FOCUS WAS EXCLUDED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANDERSON FORD OF ST. JOSEPH 2207 N BELT HWY, ST JOSEPH, MO 64506 BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE VEHICLES TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONS. IT DISPLAYS A WARNING STATING THE TRANSMISSION IS OVERHEATING AND MUST BE SERVICED. THE VEHICLE LOOSES ALL POWER AND WHEN GOING 65 MPH (IF IT EVER REACHES THAT) ALL OF A SUDDEN CARS HAVE TO SWERVE AROUND ME BECAUSE THE CAR HAS NO POWER TO CONTINUE. TWICE I ALMOST GOT HIT FROM BEHIND BEING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE.
THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND UNABLE TO RESTART. HAD IT TOWED TO AUTONATION IN TUSTIN AND ARE REFUSING TO FIX IT BECAUSE PART OF THE POWER MODULE IS BROKEN. THEY ARE TRYING TO SAY IT HAS BEEN TAMPERED WITH. REPROGRAMMING THE POWER MODULE IS PART OF THE RECALL. WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS NOW, AS THIS HAPPENED ON 11/22. IT STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE.
WHEN IDLING - MY FORD FOCUS WILL OFTEN RANDOMLY ACCELERATE, AFTER A FEW MOMENTS IT THEN BOTTOMS OUT COMPLETELY, NEARLY STALLING. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I'M BRAKING INSTEAD OF DECELERATING IT WILL ACCELERATE AND JERK THE CAR TERRIBLY STRAINING THE BRAKES MAKING IT HARDER TO STOP.
WHEN I ACCELERATE IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR IS IN "NEUTRAL" AND THE LEFT FRONT TIRE/WHEEL IS MAKE A SKIDDING SOUND. RANDOM AND UNEXPECTED WHEN IT HAPPENS. HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE SUMMER AND I THOUGHT ONE OF THE RECALLS MIGHT FIX THE PROBLEM. TAKING IT TO THREE PLACES SINCE IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MIGHT BE THE DESIGN OF THE DPS6 TRANSMISSION. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP SUCH AS A STOP LIGHT OR WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A ROAD. HAS HAPPENED 5 OR 6 TIMES SINCE SUMMER.
I HAVE A FIELD SERVICE ACTION FOR MY TCM TO BE REPAIRED, I'VE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT SO IT WAS NEVER FIXED, MY CAR RECENTLY ROLLED OVER 151,000 MILES AND STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TCM I TALKED TO A DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE FIELD SERVICE ACTION WAS ONLY GOOD FOR 150,000 MILES. I THINK IT'S VERY ODD TIMING SINCE I JUST RECENTLY BARELY WENT OVER 150,000 MILES,. MY CAR HAS BEEN STRANDED IN A PARKING LOT FOR 3 WEEKS NOW UNABLE TO START

WHEN DRIVING THE POWER STEERING WILL SUDDENLY GO OUT AND THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON. I SUDDENLY HAD NO POWER STEERING, WHICH IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE! AND ACCORDING TO OTHER 2012 FORD FOCUS OWNERS THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH NO RECALL YET! AFTER 8 YEARS.

I HAVE HAD ALL FACTORY RECALLS REPLACED AND MOST RECENTLY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AS WELL.THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS WERE NOT ON WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
