JUST TURNED IN AN ORIGINAL CHARGING CORD UNDER RECALL (THE CORDS PLUG WOULD TEND TO OVERHEAT AND WAS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD) AND GOT A BRAND NEW CORD FROM KEN GRODY FORD, CARLSBAD, CA. MY FIRST THOUGHT WHEN LOOKING AT THE NEW CORD WAS THAT THE ELECTRICAL CORD (19' LONG PART) LOOKED UNUSUALLY THIN. WITH THE NEW CORD, THE APPROX 19' PART OF THE CORD GETS WARM, ALL 19 FEET! THEY OBVIOUSLY USED TOO SMALL OF A WIRE GAUGE IN THE NEW CORD, AND THIS IN ITSELF IS A SAFETY HAZARD IN MY OPINION. I SPECIALIZE IN SELLING ELECTRIC CARS, AND I'M ALWAYS CHARGING VARIOUS MAKES AND MODELS IN MY GARAGE ON A 15AMP/110V DEDICATED CIRCUIT, AND HAVE NO ISSUES WITH OTHER CHARGING CORDS.
'TAKATA RECALL' MY AUNT BOUGHT THE CAR IN NOVEMBER OF 2012, SOLD IT TO ME IN MARCH THE CAR SHUTTERS , VIBRATES AND LOSES POWER AFTER TAKING OFF FROM A COMPETE STOP, SHE'S HAD THE CAR SERVICED THE LAST 4 YEARS AND HAS TOLD THEM ABOUT IT AND THEY NEVER DOCUMENTED IT, THEY DRIVE THE CARS AFTER THEY FIX THEM, THEY CAN FILL WHAT IT DOES. CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE LIKE THAT IT STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE FROM TAKE OFF. TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY SAID I MISSED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BY 4 MONTHS, DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY MAKE THIS PROBLEM A RECALL!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,146.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND FAILED TO GAIN SPEED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED IN ORDER TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LONG-LEWIS FORD LINCOLN (2551 JOHN HAWKINS PKWY, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35244, (205) 989-3673) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH AND SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
MY CAR IS VIBRATING AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT TIMES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY FORD THAT THERE IS A FAULTY CLUTCH AND SEAL THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS A PART THEY WERE AWARE WAS A PROBLEM AND THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 7 YEARS BUT WE ARE PAST THAT TIME NOW SO THEY WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR. THE CAR WILL LOSE FORWARD POWER AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
OWNER OF A 2012 FORD FOCUS 4D SE, EXPERIENCED THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING "POWER STEERING ASSIST". IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE WITHIN MINUTES OF EACH OTHER. GOING DOWN A CITY STREET AND LOST CONTROL IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN TO GET OFF THE STREET TO SAFETY. IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING I CAME CLOSE TO HITTING A CAR. TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF, FIGURED WORKS FOR ELECTRONIC DEVICES, THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST" WAS REMOVED THEN 10 MINUTES LATER THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST" ENGAGED AGAIN THIS TIME TURNING OFF THE FREEWAY. VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE. AFTER READING THE COST TO CORRECT THE ISSUE I WILL BE OUT $2000.00. IS FORD PUTTING LIVES IN DANGER TO CREATE ANOTHER REVENUE STREAM?? I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THESE VEHICLES HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE!!!! 57K MILES
SHIFTING AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES: VEHICLE STARTED OUT WITH SHIFTING PROBLEMS FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. TOOK TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION (AT THIS TIME THE CAR HAD ROUGHLY 80K MILES). THEN TOOK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE MY CAR WAS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY, WHERE THE CAR'S COMPUTER WAS RESET, AND WAS TOLD THEN THAT IT WOULD CONTINUE TO HAVE SHIFTING ISSUES; THAT'S JUST HOW THE CAR WAS MADE. ABOUT THREE MONTHS LATER, THE PROBLEMS STARTED AGAIN AND GOT WORSE. THE SHIFTING CONTINUED TO DYSFUNCTION, WHICH I "FIXED" BY PARKING AND RESTARTING MY CAR, THUS RESTARTING THE COMPUTER. IT WOULD USUALLY DRIVE OKAY AFTER THAT. I DROVE LIKE THIS FOR SOME TIME UNTIL I WAS HAVING ISSUES STARTING THE CAR AND ONCE I FINALLY GOT IT STARTED, IT WAS UNABLE TO GO IN REVERSE. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE SAME PLACE WHERE MY COMPUTER WAS RESET THE FIRST TIME, AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CLUTCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. AT THIS APPOINTMENT, I ALSO DISCOVERED THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED BY A MONTH, AND WOULD COST $2K TO FIX. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE NOW, BUT THIS CAR IS CURRENTLY PARKED, UNABLE TO START OR MOVE, IN MY DRIVEWAY.
THE TRANSMISSION IS WINDING UP REAL HIGH WHEN TRYUNG TO SHIFT INTO GEARS WHILE DRIVIG DOWN THE ROAD
I HAD MY CAR AT THE DEALER 5 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS UNDER WARRANTY. 2 MONTHS AGO I HAD TO PAY OVER $2500.00 TO HAVE REPAIRED OUT OF WARRANTY BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE PURGE VALVE IS ALSO BAD, THEY SENT A RECALL BOT CANCELLED IT. MY GAS GAUGE HAS NOT WORKED IN OVER 3 YEARS, THE SOUND SYSTEM ALSO HAS NOT WORKED IN OVER 3 YEARS. THE DEALER SAID THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS. THE FAN FOR THE HEAT/COOL ONLY WORKS ON HIGH(4). THE IGNITION ALSO IS A PROBLEM, MY MECHANIC SAID THAT HE KNOWS OF MANY IGNITION PROBLEMS ON THE FOCUS AND OTHER FORD MODELS. I DID RECEIVE A LEMON LAW SETTLEMENT A FEW YEARS AGO WHICH WWAS NOTHING COMPARED TO ALL THE PROBLEMS AND EXPENSES.
18S32 WAS PERFORMED JANUARY 2019 PER THE RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED. FORD DEALER IN GARDEN CITY KS SAID MY CAR WAS FINE AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. APRIL 9TH, I RECEIVED A CEL FOR EMISSIONS ON THE PURGE CANISTER. FILLED UP WITH FUEL, UNABLE TO START. WAS ABLE TO FINALLY START VEHICLE AND IT DIED WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS THE SAME SYMPTOMS OF THIS RECALL FOR THE PCV UNDER 18S32. I TOOK BACK TO FORD APRIL 11TH (SAME DEALER) GAVE MY CASE NUMBER SINCE I CALLED FORD PRIOR TO ASK IF THIS WOULD BE COVERED, THEY SAID THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NEED TO LOOK. FORD DEALER RECEIVED CAR 4/15 (SINCE I NEEDED AN APPOINTMENT) SAID THEY NEEDED APPROVAL FROM FORD AND WOULD CALL ME. I CALLED 4/18 TO FOLLOW UP, SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY GOT DENIED ON ONE AND WILL CHECK WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AT FORD. I RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL SAME DAY THAT THEY CANNOT COVER IT SINCE IT WAS A ONE TIME RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE DESPITE NO PARTS BEING REPLACED AT PREVIOUS RECALL. MY CAR, DOES RUN, BUT I AM CONCERNED THE VACUUM ISSUE IN THIS RECALL WILL RENDER MY CAR USELESS IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE SINCE THIS IS MY ONLY CAR. I NEED ASSISTANCE GETTING THE RECALL DONE DESPITE BEING DENIED.
NOW WHEN I START MY CAR, THE MUSIC MAY PLAY FOR A COUPLE SECONDS AND THEN THE LOUD POPPING TAKES OVER. WHETHER THE VOLUME IS ON "1" OR "10" THE NOISE IS JUST AS LOUD AND STARTLING. I WOULD SIMPLY TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE STEREO, BUT THIS DID NOT SEEM TO ALLEVIATE ANYTHING. ALTHOUGH NOT AS CONSISTENT, THE NOISE SEEMS TO INTERMITTENTLY COME EVEN IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY NOT IN THE IGNITION. AS STATED, THIS NOISE IS VERY LOUD AND STARTLING. IT STARTLED ME ENOUGH THAT I ACCIDENTALLY JERKED THE WHEEL OUT OF REFLEX WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY YESTERDAY. MUSIC IS A LUXURY, BUT HAVING THE CRAP SCARED OUT OF YOU BY YOUR OWN CAR WHILE DRIVING IS A GIANT SAFETY ISSUE!!
HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE POWER STEERING NOT FUNCTIONING UPON START UP. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, BUT RESET AND WORKED UPON RESTARTING. OCCASIONALLY STEERING WILL TAKE EXTRA TIME, APPROX. 5 SECONDS, TO FUNCTION UPON STARTING HOWEVER YESTERDAY IT WOULD NOT RESET AND FUNCTION PROPERLY. HAD TO DRIVE APPROX. 5 MILES WITH NO POWER STEERING. WORKED PROPERLY AFTER PARKING AND RESTARTING CAR AFTER APPROX. 15 MIN.
MY CAR HORN WOULD PERIODICALLY GO OUT THEN ONE DAY IT COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING, I DISCOVERED THIS WHEN I TRIED TO WARN A TRUCK THAT I WAS IN A LANE THE TRUCK DECIDED TO MERGE INTO. I FIRST TOOK IT TO FORD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED HOWEVER THEY NEVER COMPLETED THIS REPAIR FOR ME. I THEN GOT MY HORN REPLACED AT A FIRESTONE WHERE MY SERVICE ADVISER INFORMED ME THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND THEY REALLY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG BESIDES THE HORN SYSTEM. THEY STATED "HAVE POWER ALL THE WAY TO THE HORN WHEN PUSHING BUTTON ON WHEEL." SO THEY HAD TO REMOVE AND REPLACE HORN ASSEMBLY. I MENTIONED THIS TO A FORD SERVICE ADVISER, AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS "OH YEAH SOMETIMES THAT HAPPENS WITH THE FORD HORNS A SPRING BREAKS." LIKE IT WAS COMMON AND COMMON KNOWLEDGE. THIS CONCERNS ME BECAUSE IN NY YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A WORKING HORN FOR ANY INSPECTION DUE TO SAFETY. HORNS ARE ESSENTIAL TO HELP PREVENT ACCIDENTS AND PREVENT PEOPLE FROM MERGING, BACKING INTO YOUR VEHICLE ETC. THE FACT THAT FORD SERVICE KNOWS THE PROBLEM AS COMMON KNOWLEDGE SCARES AND INFURIATES ME. I WAS LUCKY AND DID NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT, ALTHOUGH I HAD A CLOSE CALL WHERE IF THEIR WASN'T A SHOULDER TO RIDE ON A TRUCK WOULD OF MERGED INTO MY VEHICLE SINCE MY HORN HAD SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING.
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY INTERSTATE THE RPMS ON MY VEHICLE REVVED TO 5000, WOULDN'T ACCELERATE, AND QUICKLY SLOWED DOWN. I WAS IN THE FAST LANE WHILE TRAFFIC AROUND ME WAS GOING 75+ AND WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER ON THE LEFT SHOULDER WITH MY DOG IN THE VEHICLE AT 9:30PM ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. ONCE STOPPED, MY VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE AS I TRIED TO GO INTO REVERSE AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 25 MPH WHILE TRYING TO GO FORWARD. I WAS STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE FOR 2 HOURS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE MY 'WARRANTY EXPIRED DUE TO HIGH MILEAGE'. MY BOYFRIEND HAD TO LEAVE SCHOOL TO ALSO PULL OVER BEHIND ME ON THE INTERSTATE AND TAKE THE DOG FROM MY CAR TO HIS ON THE BUSIEST INTERSTATE IN THE STATE WE LIVE IN. MINE, MY DOG'S MY BOYFRIEND'S LIVES WERE ALL IN EXTREME DANGER DUE TO THE FAILURE OF A PART ON MY VEHICLE I HAVE HAD REPLACED TWICE ALREADY AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE MAKE MODEL AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE.
RADIO STARTS TO POP AND SOUND LIKE MACHINE GUN FIRE. IT GOES OFF AND ON IRREGULARLY AND EVEN DOES IT WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF. SOMETIMES IT WILL WORK FOR 10 MINUTES AND THEN THE POPPING AND GUN FIRE BEGINS AGAIN. I AM AFRAID THAT SOMEONE WILL THINK I'M SHOOTING AS THEM. IF IT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING, IT IS VERY SCARY. COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
BOUGHT THIS USED FOR MY SON'S FIRST CAR. POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. ONLY 80000 MILES ON THIS CAR. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED MY INNOCENT BOY. RECALL THIS BEFORE SOMEONE DIES!!!
THE POWER STEERING FOR A WHILE WORKED INTERMITTENTLY, BUT 1 MONTH AGO THAT STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE CAR LOST STEERING ABILITY WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC. HE WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT CRASHING, THOUGH REQUIRED CONSIDERABLE EFFORT TO MANEUVER THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC, AS STEERING REQUIRED FULL STRENGTH. THE STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION MESSAGE APPEARED AFTER THE 3RD INCIDENT WHEN HE STARTED THE CAR IN HIS DRIVEWAY. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW FORD CAN CAN CONTINUE TO ENDANGER DRIVERS AND OTHERS BY NOT RECALLING THIS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM. THE EXACT SAME SYSTEM HAS BEEN RECALLED IN OTHER MODELS TOTALING OVER 1.3 MILLION VEHICLES, PER A NEW YORKTIMES ARTICLE. THIS IS NOT A SMALL OR TRIVIAL PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, FORD MANUFACTURING HAS NOTIFIED DEALERS OF 'STEERING PROBLEMS' BUT FELL SHORT BY NOT INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS APPARENTLY WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE INJURED AND/OR KILLED. WE HAVE ALREADY ENDURED THE STRESS OF A TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH MALFUNCTION, FOR WHICH FORD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER, BUT DID NOT NOTIFY OWNERS, AS AN OFFICIAL RECALL WOULD REQUIRE. OUR EXTREMELY HONEST AND DILIGENT MECHANIC RESEARCHED IT AND FOUND OUT, SO WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE THOSE REPAIRS DONE AT THE DEALER AT NO EXPENSE. THIS IS A NO-BRAINED, DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE THE RECALL. DON'T PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES.
MY VEHICLES TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD A TCM REPLACEMENT AS WELL AND STILL IS NOT WORKING IT IS ALSO HAD TWO CLUTCHES AND SEVERAL SOFTWARE UPDATES WITH NO SUCCESS. THE CAR HAS STARTED DISPLAYING NEW TRANSMISSION ISSUES RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE IN WHICH NOW THE VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER GO IN REVERSE AND JUST THE OTHER DAY WHILE DRIVING AT 75 TO 80 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE SLAMMED IT SELF INTO SECOND GEAR VERY HARD AND THEN INTO NEUTRAL I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AT APPROXIMATELY 85 MPH IN WHICH I COULD HAVE DIED THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AFFORD TO NOT EXCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND OFFER A BUYBACK FOR THESE VEHICLES I HAVE SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS OF MY TIME WITH THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITH ENGINE LOSS POWER TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT SLAMMING INTO KEY LOWER GEARS AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED COMPLETE CAR SHUT DOWN ALL OF THESE ISSUES IN WHICH I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A FATAL ACCIDENT WITH AND WE STILL HAVE NO RESOLUTION AFTER SEVERAL YEARS I AM OUT RAGED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE POWER STEERING FAILURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MATT BOWERS FORD (3724 VETERANS MEMORIAL BLVD, METAIRIE, LA 70002, (504) 887-8410) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING CHIP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $3,000. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE RECALL WAS LINKED TO SEVERAL OTHER FORD VEHICLE'S; HOWEVER, THE FORD FOCUS WAS NOT INCLUDED DESPITE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING SOCKET MELTED IN NOVEMBER 2018, CAUSING THE LAMP TO FAIL AND THE REPLACEMENT OF THE HOUSING. AFTER REPLACING THE SOCKET AND BULB, THE SAME THING JUST HAPPENED (MARCH 31, 2019). THE HEADLAMP IS UNUSABLE UNLESS HOUSING AND BULB ARE COMPLETELY REPLACED. THERE IS FEAR OF A FIRE OCCURRING.
THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN REPAIRED FOUR TIMES IN THE FIRST 80000 MILES, EACH TIME WITH THE GUARANTEE THAT FORD HAS FIXED THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CAR. THE CAR NOW HAS 94000 MILES ON IT. LAST DECEMBER, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE WERE TOLD THE CLUTCH WAS ONCE AGAIN CLOSE TO WHATEVER STANDARD THEY USED TO REPLACE THEM BUT WASN'T THERE YET. THEY SAID TO PUT 1000 MILES ON THE CAR AND THEN THEY COULD CHECK TO SEE IF IT MEETS THE STANDARD YET. OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS IT HAS GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE TO THE POINT WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL PULLING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY WHICH IS ON A HILL. WE HAVE RETURNED THE CAR NOW TO BE TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NOW GONE OUT OF WARRANTY ON TIME, THEY ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE, AND I OWE A CHARGE JUST FOR THEM HAVING CHECKED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR WAS COMING FROM THE VENTS AND THE VEHICLE REEKED OF FUEL. THE ODOR WAS SO STRONG THAT IT WAS A DISTRACTION TO THE CONTACT AND HER FAMILY'S HEALTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOE HALL LINCOLN FORD (1617 21ST STREET, LEWISTON, ID 83501, (888) 706-3381) WHERE THE MECHANICS REPAIRED A DOOR LATCH, BUT DID NOT REPAIR THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,637.
THE TRANSMISSION IS UNDER CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. HAVING TROUBLE WITH SINCE BUYING IN 2012, STILL WAITING ON OUTCOME OF THAT. TODAY. MARCH 27, 2019, "STEERING WHEEL ASSIST- SERVICE NEEDED". STEERING OUT WHEEL WILL NOT TURN. I WORK I NEED A CAR. I WILL BE CALLING FORD TODAY. MY FORD FOCUS SE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, OVER 140,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS NOT ABLE TO LEAVE HOME FOR WORK TODAY. SOMETIMES WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF THE TIME CHANGES I THEN TURN IT BACK ON AND IT GOES BACK TO THE CORRECT TIME. ALSO IN THE PAST SOMETIMES IN WOULD NOT START. I WOULD WAIT A WHILE AND THEN IT WOULD START. IT HAS NOT DONE THAT SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2012. THIS CAR HAS A LOT OF PROBLEMS.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURES. SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST FOUR MONTHS MY WIFE AND I STARTED THE CAR AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. THE CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE AND WARNING ON THE DASH INDICATED STEERING FAILURE. SOMETIMES TWO OR MORE RESTARTS WERE REQUIRED BEFORE THE WARNING WENT OFF AND THE POWER STEERING RETURNED. ALTHOUGH IT HASN'T HAPPENED YET WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. MY RESEARCH ON THIS FAILURE SHOWED THAT ITS HIGHLY POSSIBLE THAT IT COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. FARTHER RESEARCH SHOWS THAT REPAIRS COULD COST AS MUCH AS $2,200.00
HORN WAS ONLY WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, NOW IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL.
AFTER A 30 MILE DRIVE, I STOPPED TO FILL MY TANK. WHEN I RESTARTED MY VEHICLE, I RECEIVED A WARNING THAT THE POWER STEERING BOOST HAD FAILED. I CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND DID NOT SEE ANY OTHER PROBLEMS. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR BACK TO DROP OFF MY PASSENGER, ALTHOUGH THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT. AFTER MY FRIEND LEFT MY CAR, THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT RECURRED. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND AT LEAST 200 OTHER INSTANCES OF SIMILAR EVENTS, LEADING TO A TOTAL FAILURE, AND A $1600 BILL FROM FORD FOR EACH OCCURRENCE. THERE IS A TSB WHICH EXISTS FOR THIS ISSUE, AND THERE WAS A RECALL OF OTHER FORD VEHICLES FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, THE FOCUS WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE A SIMILAR ISSUE WHICH NECESSITATED THE RECALL OF 600K VEHICLES IN 2015. THERE ARE ALSO PLENTY OF ARTICLES FROM REPUTABLE SOURCES, LIKE THE NEW YORK TIMES, WHICH ALSO DOCUMENT THIS,
STALLING DEADING AND SHATTERING POWER LOSE ENGINE LIGHT
STEERING QUITS INTERMITTENTLY.. IT'S A WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED SAFETY HAZARD AS I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. JUST ADDING ONE MORE TO THE LIST. DON'T SEE A FULL RECALL IN THE FUTURE BUT A LITTLE HELP WITH A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR WOULD BE NICE.
AFTER TURNING ON IGNITION TO THE CAR A WARNING COMES UP "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ON THE INFORMATION SCREEN NEAR THE ODOMETER. THE STEERING WHEEL IS THEN VERY HARD TO TURN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES IN THE FIRST DAY OF THE ISSUE. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART THE CAR THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME EXACT ISSUE I AM HAVING AND SOME HAVE REPORTED LOSING STEERING WHILE DRIVING SO I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY.
2012 FORD FOCUS STALLING AND SHUTTING OFF ON HIGHWAY. ENGINE STALLING AND SHUTTING OFF MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ON DUE TO RECALL.
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD REPEATED ISSUES OVER THE PAST 7 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THE VEHICLE HAS SHUDDERED UPON ACCELERATION FOR MANY YEARS. A TRANSMISSION RECALL SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINUED TO SHUDDER AND ALSO STRUGGLED GOING UPHILL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, AS IT WAS BECOMING DIFFICULT TO DRIVE SAFELY. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN GOING UP EVEN A MODERATE INCLINE AND WOULD BEGIN TO SHUDDER AND "REV UP". I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY UP AN INCLINE WHEN THE VEHICLE STRUGGLED TO ACCELERATE, BEGAN SHUDDERING, AND THE ENGINE BECAME LOUD. I HAD TO MOVE OVER INTO THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND SLOWLY MAKE MY WAY UP THE INCLINE TRAVELING WELL BELOW THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. THE FORD DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE CLUTCH THAT NEEDED REPLACED. WHEN I QUESTIONED IF THIS WAS RELATED TO ALL OF THE OTHER SHUDDERING PROBLEMS AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD OVER THE YEARS, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THAT AND TOLD THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE REPAIRS. A SECONDARY AUTO SHOP SUGGESTED THAT I REACH OUT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AS THEY BELIEVED THAT THE NEED FOR THE CLUTCH REPLACEMENT AND PROBLEMS COULD EASILY BE RELATED TO PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE FORD CORPORATION WAS CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SITUATION, OTHER THAN DOCUMENTING THE INCIDENT IN MY FILE.

AFTER THE MESSAGE DISPLAYED, A TURN IN THE ROAD WAS COMING UP AND I NOTED THAT I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO TURN THE WHEEL TO MAKE THE TURN. LUCKILY I MANAGED TO NURSE THE CAR BACK HOME WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR GOING OFF THE ROAD. TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP BUT IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT SIMILAR ISSUES HAVE OCCURED TO MULTIPLE 2012 FOCUS VEHICLES AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED SIMILAR TO OTHER RECALLS FOR DIFFERENT FORD MODELS. LUCKILY MY CURRENT FAILURE DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, BUT THE CAR IS NOT A HAZARD TO DRIVE FOR BOTH MYSELF AND OTHER MOTORISTS. FEELS LIKE IT TAKES A COUPLE SECONDS FOR THE STEERING TO CORRECT ITSELF LIKE THERE'S A DELAY FROM TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE CAR ACTUALLY TURNING. DOES IT AT LOW CITY DRIVING SPEEDS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. WE DROVE IT SATURDAY, IT WAS FINE. IT DIDN'T GET USED SUNDAY, AND PROBLEM STARTED ON MONDAY MORNING. WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS THERE IS ALSO A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL. NO WARNINGS ON DASH, NO INCIDENT TO CAUSE THIS. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 83,000 MILES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT'S THE STEERING GEAR AND IT WILL BE OVER $1500 TO FIX. MONEY I DON'T HAVE FOR A PROBLEM THAT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING ON A CAR THIS NEW. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT AND CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX IT SO IT SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY LIKE A GIANT EXPENSIVE PAPERWEIGHT.

TCM WENT BAD AND THE CLUTCHES OF THE TRANSMISSION. FORD DEALER REPLACED THE TCM BUT NOT THE CLUTCHES. INSTEAD I MUST PAY $2,300 TO REPLACE THE CLUTCHES BECAUSE I'M OUT OF WARRANTY. BESIDES THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS. THE CAR SHUDDERS OFTEN. TCM ISSUES USED TO MAKE THE STALL ON THE ROAD.

THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND FORD HAS RECALLED THE STEERING UNIT ON OTHER MODEL, BUT NOT ON FOCUS. COST $2160 TO REPAIR. TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS AT LOW SPEEDS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. HAD IT INTO FORD SEVERAL TIMES TO DIAGNOSE AND THEY STATE IT IS WITHIN PARAMETERS OF THIS DUAL CLUTCH TYPE TRANSMISSION. FORD HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR TRANSMISSION BUT REFUSED TO REPLACE MINE UNDER WARRANTY.
