THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT THE LIGHT AND I SAID FOR 30 MINUTES AND THEN THE CAR STARTED GOING IN REVERSE AND THE DRAFT STARTED BACK WORKING BUT IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS IN AND OUT. I HAD JUST GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY
ENGINE TEMPERATURE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONS AND SAYS ENGINE IS OVERHEATING WHEN IT IS IN FACT NOT AS WELL AS WHEN IT IS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SWITCH FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY AND THE CONTACT HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE WIPER SPEED. THE CONTACT STATED THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V149000 (VISIBILITY). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,133.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND EXITED THE FREEWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL NEVER UNLOCKED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEABLE. PAUL CERAME FORD (11400 NEW HALLS FERRY ROAD, FLORISSANT, MO 63033, (314) 838-2400) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,550.
RADIO MADE A VERY LOUD STATIC AND POPPING NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE MY CAR WAS BEING SHOT AT AND THE WINDOWS WERE BREAKING WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 60MPH ON MY WAY TO WORK. I WAS LUCKY IT WAS VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING AND NOT MANY CARS WERE ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THE SUDDEN SOUND CAUSED ME TO SWERVE INTO THE NEXT 2 LANES. I TOOK THE CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT AUTO MECHANIC SHOPS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE FORD FOCUS FOR YEARS, AND THAT THE RADIO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
FUEL PERG VALVE STUCK IN CLOSED / OPEN POSSITION. RESULTING IN TANK DEFORM AND SENDING UNIT FAILER.
I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE IN 2016 WITH TAKING OFF FROM A STOPPED POSITION, ACCELERATING, SPUTTERING AND RANDOM STALLING WHILE DRIVING....WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER THE CAR ABRUPTLY STALLED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH ME AND MY SON, I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR TESTING. HOWEVER, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM THAT WOULD CAUSE THE STALLING. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SPARINGLY AND CAUTIOUSLY IN 2017 AROUND MY COMMUNITY, EXPERIENCING RANDOM ISSUES WITH DROPPING DEAD AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. IN MAY 2018, INCREASINGLY MORE CONCERNED, I TOOK THE CAR TO A DIFFERENT DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM EITHER. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER, IN AUGUST 2018, THE CAR ABRUPTLY DROPPED DEAD AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION COMING EVEN CLOSER TO CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. UNLIKE PREVIOUS INSTANCES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALONG WITH AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED; NOT ALLOWING THE CAR TO STARTUP REQUIRING IT TO BE PUSHED OUT OF TRAFFIC UNTIL TOWED. THE PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED WITH THIS CAR HAS PUT ME AND MY CHILD IN MANY UNSAFE SITUATIONS CAUSING TREMENDOUS STRESS AND ANXIETY NOT KNOWING WHEN OR WHERE THE CAR WOULD ABRUPTLY STALL AGAIN. WE'VE TAKEN IT THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND FIXED UNTIL THE LAST TRIP IN AUGUST 2018. THE DEALER INDICATED THE FUEL TANK HAD COLLAPSED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO THE GENERAL MANAGER, FORD AND MANY OTHERS WHO REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS AND COMPLAINTS TO FORD WE WERE LEFT WITH NO CHOICE, BUT TO PAY THE $1,300 REPAIR COST SINCE WE NEEDED THE VEHICLE THAT SAT AT THE DEALER FROM AUGUST 22, 2018 THROUGH OCTOBER 16, 2018. IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING TO KNOW FORD IS AND WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THE SAFETY HAZARDS IT CAUSED AT THE TIME OF OUR COMPLAINT AND REFUSED TO DO THE RIGHT THING TO ENSUE CONSUMERS SAFETY.
THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION SEVICE NOW WARNING CAME ON. CAR SHUDDERS AND LURCHS WHEN ON INCLINE, SLOWING AT INTERSECTION, DIFFICULTY MAINTAINING 60 MPH ON EXPRESSWAY. CLUTCH HAD BEEN RECALLED AND REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES: THE FIRST AT 3,543 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAD SHUDDERED,LURCHED FORWARD I OFF/ON FOR FOUR YEARS WHEN STOPPING,SLOWING DOWN AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
RAN OUT OF FUEL IN THIS VEHICLE, ONCE WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, EVEN THOUGH THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD SAY THERE WAS BETWEEN 75-100 MILES BEFORE EMPTY. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE HAD A STRONG SMELL OF GAS. I THEN PROCEEDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER DIAGNOSIS THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID SOME VALVE REMAINED OPEN CAUSING THE GAS TANK TO CRACK AND IN TURN GAS FLOWED BACK INTO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE COST TO FIX WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $3100. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE FOR QUITE SOME TIME, BUT FORD REFUSES TO RECALL OR EVEN PAY FOR THE WORK. I EVEN HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY WOULDN'T COVER IT EITHER.
THE CARS TRANSMISSION IS OUT OF WACK. IT DOES NOT SHIFT OR ACCELERATE PROPERLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE, THE CLUTCH SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BOB FERRANDO FORD LINCOLN (8868 W RIDGE RD, GIRARD, PA 16417), BUT IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
2012 FORD FOCUS WITH 55,000 MILES. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 60 MPH AND THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. WEATHER WAS SUNNY AND 84. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT HIT AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE. STEERING AND BRAKES WORKED FINE. CAR WILL NOT RESTART. TURNING THE KEY IS UNEVENTFUL, NO NOISE OR ACTION OF ANY KIND. THERE IS ELECTRIC, AS I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN. WAITED 3 HOURS FOR A TOW TRUCK. I LOST A DAYS WAGE, HAVE A TOW BILL AND A CAR THAT WILL NOT WORK. THANKFUL THAT MY TEEN WAS NOT DRIVING AT THE TIME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND STALLED. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COURTESY FORD OF ROME (101 US-411, ROME, GA 30161) WHERE AN UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V515000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
CAR LOST STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING MAKING THE CAR HAD TO STEER TO AVOID COLLISION. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, ALARM CAME ON THE STEERING ASSIST FAILED.
OCCASSIONALLY WHEN FIRST STARTING THIS VEHICLE AN ALERT WILL APPEAR ON THE DASH, SAYING POWER STEERING ASSIST HAS FAILED, CONTACT FORD SERVICE DEALER AND THE POWER STEERING WILL NOT WORK. IF I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART THE POWER ASSIST WILL WORK, SO FAR.
POWER STEERING ASSIST STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING CAR. STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN. TOOK TO DEALER, REQUIRED ENTIRE STEERING GEAR TO BE REPLACED.
POWER STEERING FAILURE, NO LONGER HAS POWER STEERING MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANUER VEHICLE.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILURE WHILE DRIVING.
THE TRUNK LID OPENS RANDOMLY. IT OPENS WHENEVER THE CAR IS STARTED OR TURNED OFF(WHILE THE KEYS ARE TAKEN OUT), WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS, AND WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST SET INTO MOTION. IT HAS NOT OPENED WHILE DRIVING AT FULL SPEED BUT WORRIED THAT IT COULD HAPPEN.
DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AND LATCH. THEREFORE IT WILL FLY OPEN WHEN DRIVING IF IT IS NOT TIED TO SOMETHING ELSE IN THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED SPONTANEOUSLY WITH AN ACCIDENT, BUT DURING REGULAR USE.
WHILE DRIVING, STEERING WHEEL ASSIST MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON AND MADE IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE STEERING. LOOK ONLINE AND THERE ARE RECALLS TO OTHER FORD MODELS, BUT NOT FOR THE FOCUS ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING AND A SERIOUS CAR CRASH COULD HAPPEN BECAUSE OF IT.
AFTER NUMEROUS TIMES GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON MY CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE, IT STALLS AND HAS A BURNING ODOR. I HAVE BEEN STUCK ON EXPRESSWAYS WITH MY 3 MONTH OLD TWINS, TWICE AND IT IS SCARY. FORD KNOWS OF THESE TRANSMISSION PRONLEMS, ..TMC, PMC ARE TERRIBLE IN THESE CARS, AND THEN THEY WANT YOU TO PAY RIDICULOUS PRICES FOR MISTAKES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. DURING THE FAILURE, THE "STEERING FAULT" MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (SAN TAN FORD, 1429 E. MOTORPLEX LOOP, GILBERT, AZ) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
VEHICLE SHUDDERS WHEN TAKING OFF BUT ONCE INITIAL TAKE OFF IS COMPLETE THERE IS NO SHUDDER ANYMORE.
WE HAVE A 2012 FOCUS. FROM DAY 1, WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY GOING DEAD, WITHIN JUST A DAY. WE HAVE HAD IT IN NUMEROUS DEALERSHIPS, WITH NO RESOLVE OF THE PROBLEM. AFTER HAVING HAD ENOUGH, WE TOOK IT TO A SPECIALIST WHO HOOKED IT UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. THE PROBLEM WAS THE STEREO SYSTEM DRAINING THE BATTERY. BUT WE FELT IT WASN'T OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW STEREO, SO WE JUST HAD IT DISCONNECTED. FIXED THE PROBLEM. BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER GOES OFF. AND NOW IT'S MAKING A FUNNY NOISE IN THE ENGINE AND WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP AND ACCELERATE, IT SOMETIMES ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO CUT OFF. I FEEL LIKE FORD OUGHT TO REPLACE THE STEREO FREE. WE HAVE HAD IT IN ON OTHER NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR OTHER PROBLEMS TOO. HAD TO HAVE A NEW DASH TWICE!
BACK UP CAMERA MALFUNCTION. WILL WORK EVERY NOW AND THEN. WILL FLASH WITH BLACK SCREEN AND GREEN LINE. AT TIMES THE PICTURE WILL BE UPSIDE DOWN. AT TIMES IT WON'T WORK AT ALL. CAR SENSORS WILL GO OFF WITH RAIN AND OR SNOW. THE MEDIA SCREEN AT TIMES WILL NOT SHOW DATA IE RADIO STATIONS, BLUE TOOTH CONNECTION. ALL THE ABOVE OCCURS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION.
STEERING WHEEL LOCK UP ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVE AND BEEN LOCKED UP FOR SOME DAYS NOW AND IT IS HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL AND DONT HAVE THE MONEY FIX IT HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW THIS JUST A SHAME.
TWICE SINCE WE HAVE OWNED THIS CAR THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AFTER THE ENGINE IS STARTED. MY WIFE SAYS THERE IS A MESSAGE ON THE DASH DISPLAY ABOUT THE STEERING. BOTH TIMES SHE SHOWED ME THE STEERING BEING LOCKED UP IN THE DRIVEWAY OF OUR HOME. I WAS ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BY TURNING OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND RESTARTING. SHE TOLD ME THIS MORNING IT HAS HAPPENED TO HER WHILE DRIVING ONCE ON A HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH . SHE WAS ABLE TO STRONG ARM THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE SHOULDER. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I STILL OWE A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR AND I CAN'T EVEN GIVE IT AWAY WITH THIS KIND OF PROBLEM.
VEHICLE WOULD STALL OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS OR HESITATE WHEN STARTING TO GO. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO LOSE POWER DURING NORMAL OPERATION AND IF IT STALLED OUT IT WOULD TAKE A FEW MINUTES OR LONGER TO START, CAUSING TRAFFIC ISSUES. FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ 3/4 OF A TANK AND BE EMPTY. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD COMPUTER RESET TO FIX ISSUE BUT DID NOT FIX IT. THEN ANOTHER DEALERSHIP ADVISED THEY HAD ANOTHER FOCUS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND HAD TO REPLACE FUEL TANK, PURGE VALVE AND FUEL PUMP BECAUSE THE FUEL TANK HAD COLLAPSED INWARD. THEY CHECKED THE FUEL TANK ON MY FOCUS AND IT HAD ALSO COLLAPSED INWARD. HAD FUEL TANK, PURGE VALVE AND FUEL PUMP REPLACED AND NOW IT RUNS LIKE IT SHOULD AND GAUGES WORK. WAS ADVISED THAT THIS ISSUE CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO INTO LIMP MODE WHICH CAUSES CAR TO STALL. THIS REPAIR COST ME $1586.02! THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND A HAZARD TO THE OCCUPANTS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT THE LAST 4 YEARS AND IT TOOK THIS LONG TO DISCOVER WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 5 YEARS NOW.
ABOUT TO DRIVE TO WORK, I TURNED MY CAR ON AND SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF WAITING. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT, I REALIZED THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AND I WAS GOING STRAIGHT TOWARDS AN APARTMENT BUILDING THAT BORDERS THE PARKING LOT. I PARKED THE CAR AND NOTICED A WARNING ON THE SCREEN IN THE CAR THAT STATED 'POWER STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION.' I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE STEERING WAS NO LONGER DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN. THE WARNING WAS NO LONGER PRESENT. AROUND TWO WEEKS LATER, THE SAME POWER STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION OCCURRED WHILE LEAVING A GAS STATION; THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRED. MY INTENTION WAS TO TURN AND EXIT TO A STREET, BUT I REALIZED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN SEEMED TO ALLOW THE STEERING TO BECOME NORMAL AND THE WARNING WAS NO LONGER PRESENT. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION MAKES IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE CAR, WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT IF THE WARNING IS NOT SEEN SOON ENOUGH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED SHUDDERING AND INADVERTENTLY SHIFTED GEARS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE DEALER (CAPITAL FORD OF CHARLOTTE, 5411 N TRYON ST, CHARLOTTE, NC 28213) STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WITH AN ENGINE MODULE AND THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 100,000 MILES. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED MY ISSUE IS RELATED TO RECALL 16S30-SIDE DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT. MY CAR'S VIN ISN'T LISTED AS ONE OF THE AFFECTED UNITS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT MY CAR HAS EXPERIENCED THE VERY ISSUE RELATED TO THIS RECALL! CONSUMER ALREADY HAD TO REPAIR THREE DOORS AND WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE CAR DUE THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR NOT ABLE TO LATCH SHUT.*JB THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO ASSIST WITH REPAIRS.*JS
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT ACROSS AN INTERSECTION, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY, JERKED THE WHEEL OUT OF MY HAND, AND KEPT THE CAR MOVING STRAIGHT FORWARD. I NARROWLY MISSED HITTING ANOTHER CAR AS MY HUSBAND HELPED ME TUG ON THE WHEEL TO GET THE CAR OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AND TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE POWER ASSIST LIGHT WAS ON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED, AND I AM AFRAID OF IT HAPPENING ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. FUEL GAUGE INDICATED 71 MILES TO EMPTY, 2 DAYS AFTER DEALER SUPPOSEDLY RECALIBRATED FUEL GAUGE BY REPROGRAMMING COMPUTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS. DEALER SAYS CLUTCH (IN THIS AUTOMATIC VEHICLE) FAILED "SHUDDER TEST", AND NEEDS $1500 REPLACEMENT. HE SAYS THIS COULD EXPLAIN CAR SHUTTING OFF. I CANNOT RISK MY PREGNANT DAUGHTER BEING STRANDED BY THIS CAR. VERY DISAPPOINTED INFORD AND THIS DEALER.
ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, WHILE DRIVING, MY RADIO MADE A VERY LOUD POP SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT NOISE, THEN STOPPED PLAYING MUSIC AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. THIS WOULD HAPPEN PERIODICALLY. IN ABOUT THE PAST 2 WEEKS IT HAS HAPPENED MORE AND MORE OFTEN, AND NOW THE RADIO WILL NOT TURN ON AT ALL. THE NOISE COMING FROM THE SPEAKER HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. IT NOW CRACKLES, BOOMS, MAKES HIGH PITCHED NOISES, SOME OF WHICH ARE EXTREMELY LOUD. THESE NOISES NOW HAPPEN ALL THE TIME- WHEN THE CAR IS ON AND IN DRIVE (ANY SPEED), STOPPED, IN PARK, AND EVEN HAPPEN WHEN IT IS COMPLETELY OFF, NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AT ALL. BEING SOMEONE WHO SCARES EASILY, THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT IF IT HAPPENED AT THE RIGHT MOMENT, THESE LOUD NOISES WOULD CAUSE ME TO CRASH. THERE IS NO RECALL AND I CANNOT FIND ANY INFORMATION WHERE FORD EVEN ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH A QUICK SEARCH ON GOOGLE SHOWS THAT THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM HAPPENING WITH MANY FOCUSES AND SIMILAR MODELS. I HAVE VIDEO RECORDINGS BUT UNFORTUNATELY CANNOT FIGURE OUT A FORMAT THAT WILL WORK TO UPLOAD THEM HERE, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO SEND THEM ANOTHER WAY IF WHO EVER RECEIVES THIS COMPLAINT WOULD LIKE.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. DRIVING AROUND TOWN ALL DAY, PARKED THE VEHICLE THEN UPON RESTARTING THE POWER STEERING ASSIST NO LONGER WORKS. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 34,000 MILES.
I HAD THE DOOR ACTUATORS/LATCHES REPLACED IN MAY OF 2017. THE LEFT REAR DOOR ACTUATOR REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL FAILED AGAIN AND THE DOOR DOES NOT LATCH CLOSED. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP THAT REPLACED THE ACTUATORS UNDER THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL ONLY WARRANTY THE ACTUATORS FOR 12 MONTHS FROM THE INSTALLATION DATE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE ACTUATORS UNDER THE RECALL AND THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR. EITHER THE PART DID NOT GET REPLACED AS THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT DID, OR THE RECALLED PARTS ARE FAILING IN THE SAME WAY THAT THE OEM PARTS ARE FAILING.
TAKATA RECALL - POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION . STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHILE TURNING ON OR DRIVING THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND WOULD REALLY LIKE FOR SOMETHING TO BE DONE IT'S DANGEROUS
POWER STEERING MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED. DTC U3000:49-48 WAS THE CODE FROM THE DEALER. THE STEERING ASSIT LIGHT CAME ON AFTER STARTING THE CAR.
CAN'T REVERSE. DOES NOT SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY. RANDOMLY STOPS SENDING POWER TO THE WHEELS. RPMS BOUNCE RAPIDLY (HIGH AND LOW). HAS HAPPENED IN INTERSECTIONS AND HIGHWAYS, PUTTING ME AND OTHERS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER.

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AT HERITAGE FORD (2075 EDSEL LN NW, CORYDON, IN 47112) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE STATED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ADDED FUEL TO THE VEHICLE AND VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
THE HORN STOPPED WORKING, WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE, IN ALL CAPACITIES. I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN ATTEMPTING TO USE THE REMOTE LOCKING FEATURE ON THE KEY. LATER, WHILE AT A STOP SIGN IN CITY TRAFFIC, TRYING TO SIGNAL TO ANOTHER DRIVER THEY WERE MAKING A DANGEROUS TRAFFIC VIOLATION, I DISCOVERED THE HORN ITSELF, AND NOT THE KEY INTERFACE, WAS TO BLAME.
2012 FORD FOCUS, SEL. THE CAR WOULD FLUTTER AND DIE OUT, NO POWER, AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND OR DURING DRIVING ON THE ROAD OR INTERSTATE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I WOULD TRY TO RE-START, AT TIMES IT WOULD RE-START AFTER WAITING ABOUT FIVE MINUTES OR SO. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHICH TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A INFO OUT ON THAT AND THAT THE FORD COMPANY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR IN THE TUNE OF $2200.00 AT THIS TIME. IT SEEMS THAT THERE'S NOT ENOUGH CARS OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. TO THIS DATE I KNOW OF 106 VEHICLES WITH THE PROBLEM. IT'S SAD THAT SOMEONE HAS TO DIE FROM THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMETHING GETS DONE.

I OWN A 2012 FORD FOCUS SE HATCHBACK WITH A 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND THE SPORT PACKAGE. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW FROM A DEALER IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN JANUARY 2012. STARTING WITH AROUND 80,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND OCCURRING PERIODICALLY EVER SINCE, WHEN THE CAR'S ENGINE IS FIRST TURNED ON, THE POWER STEERING IS NOT ACTIVE. WHEN THIS OCCURS, IF I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, A "STEERING MALFUNCTION" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATES IN THE CAR. HOWEVER, IF I START THE CAR AND DON'T ATTEMPT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR 5-10 SECONDS AFTER THE ENGINE IS FIRST TURNED ON, THE POWER STEERING IS ACTIVE WITH NO ISSUES. IN THOSE SITUATIONS WHERE THE "STEERING MALFUNCTION" WARNING INDICATOR HAS COME ON, I SIMPLY TURN OFF THE CAR, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, THEN TURN IT BACK ON AGAIN. IF I WAIT THE 5-10 SECONDS BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, THE PROBLEM IS GONE, AND THE WARNING INDICATOR IS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. DURING THE 78 MONTHS I'VE OWNED THIS CAR, I HAVE YET TO EXPERIENCE A SITUATION WHERE THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY DEACTIVATES WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, ALTHOUGH I HAVE HEARD OTHER OWNERS OF SIMILAR 2012 FORD FOCUS VEHICLES REPORT SUCH POWER STEERING OUTAGES AND AM AWARE THAT A NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED WITH SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES.

POWER SHIFT TRANSMISSION, BOTH CLUTCHES WERE REPLACED BY DEALER. STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS, WHILE IN MOTION AT 55MPH ON SMOOTH HIGHWAY ENGINE SURGES WITHOUT ACCELERATION, TACH UP TO 6000RPM; AT LOW SPEEDS TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS, JERKS, DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY.
THE RADIO IN MY 2012 FORD FOCUS SE HAS MALFUNCTIONED. WHILE DRIVING ONE DAY, I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THEN STATIC. IT WAS SO LOUD IT SCARED ME AND I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. IT HAS DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIMES, EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. UPON CHECKING SOCIAL MEDIA AND COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO QUITE A FEW 2012 FORD FOCUS VEHICLES. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING IS TO REMOVE THE FUSE FOR THE RADIO FROM THE FUSE BOX LOCATED UNDER THE GLOVE BOX ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. FORD HAS REFUSED TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS AT THEIR COST AND I FULLY BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE LOUDNESS OF THE POPPING AND CRACKING. I HAVE NOW BEEN WITHOUT A RADIO IN MY CAR FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. AFTER SPEAKING WITH SOME AUDIO EXPERTS, THE ONLY SUGGESTED SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE HEAD UNIT FOR THE RADIO. THESE COST MORE THAN $200.00 ALONE, NOT INCLUDING THE LABOR TO INSTALL THE HEAD UNIT.
