WHILE DRIVING AROUND 35MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN BY ITS SELF. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND COAST TO A STOP. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, THE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE, THE ENGINES RPM'S WOULD GO UP, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS DISENGAGED WITH THE ENGINE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL ON DOOR LATCHES THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. IT ALSO STATED THAT A REIMBURSMENT FOR A REPLACEMENT IS ALSO INCLUDED AND WILL TAKE 60 DAYS TO PROCESS. ONCE I RECEIVED MY LETTER I SENT IN THE PAPERWORK FOR REIMBURSMENT OF A LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE MY CHECK FOR THE WORK DONE. The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving between first and second gear, the vehicle shuddered and lost motive power temporarily. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics, where the contact was informed that the TCM or the shift interlock actuator needed to be replaced. The contact stated that after the mechanic replaced the shift interlock actuator, the vehicle operated as needed temporarily, and the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under a Class Action Lawsuit settlement; however, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission clutch was slipping, and the dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to respond upon shifting to reverse(R) and failed to exceed first gear or 10 MPH. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND WHEN SHE MADE A LEFT TURN THE POWER STEERING FAILED , AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR . SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO A PARKING LOT . I DID SOME RESEARCH AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE . FORD NEEDS TO WARRANTY ALL AFFECTED CARS AND FIX IT. *TR
FROND DRIVER SIDE DOOR REFUSES TO STAY SHUT DUE TO THE DOOR LATCH NOT OPERATING PROPERLY.. I.E., THE DOOR DOES NOT REMAIN LATCH/LOCKED. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE WITH THE LATCH. SOME HOW THE LATCH HAS CORRECTED ITSELF IN THE PAST. PROBLEM HAS NOW RETURN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING ON AN INCLINE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STUTTER WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO INCREASE IN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,468.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY POWER STEERING IN MY 2012 FORD FOCUS WENT OUT COMPLETELY ALMOST CAUSE ME TO CRASH WAS GOING 70 MPH AND BEARLY WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY.

THE STEERING WHEEL HAS SHARP EDGES IN THE ALUMINUM TRIM IN THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL, COVERING THE HORN & AIRBAGS. THIS TRIM IS FLAKING & HAS VERY JAGGED EDGES. MY HUSBAND & I HAVE BOTH CUT OUR FINGERS, DRAWING BLOOD ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. WHAT A FEELING IT IS TO FLINCH AFTER BEING NICKED WHILE TURNING INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION, HOW DANGEROUS..HURTS LIKE HELL!!
ON 10/14/16 MY WIFE COMPLAINED THAT THERE WAS A SMELL OF GASOLINE AROUND HER CAR. I WALKED OUT TO THE DRIVEWAY AND THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS. SHE TOLD ME SHE HAD JUST FILLED THE GAS TANK AND CONFIRMED THAT SHE DOES NOT TOP THE TANK OFF. I JACKED THE CAR UP AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A YELLOW PLASTIC RING WHERE THE FILL HOSE IS ATTACHED TO THE GAS TANK. THAT RING IS CRACKED AND GAS SEEPS OUT FROM THERE. WE FOUND THAT IT DOESN'T LEAK IF SHE HAS LESS THAN HALF A TANK OF GAS SO SHE USUALLY KEEPS IT THAT WAY UNTIL I HAVE A CHANCE TO PULL THE GAS TANK OUT.

POWER STEER ASSIST SYSTEM WENT OUT COMPLETELY. I WAS DRIVING AND TOOK A TURN AND THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FAILED AND CANT STEER THE CAR AT ALL. SITTING IN DRIVEWAY UNDRIVABLE. *TR

THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND HESITATING, FORD SAID ITS A DESIGN PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS TRANSMISSION. FORD CAN'T FIX THIS. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO BUY BACK THIS CAR BEFORE I GET INTO A BAD ACCIDENT.
TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS AND HESITATES WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE WHEN YOU GIVE GAS AFTER TURNING A CORNER. DEALERSHIP JUST REPROGRAMS AND SAYS IT HAS TO ADJUST TO DRIVER BUT IT NEVER FIXES THE ISSUE. I WORRY A WRECK MAY HAPPEN IF THE I CAN'T MAKE THE CAR RESPOND TIMELY BECAUSE OF THE HESITATION. NOW THEY WANT TO CHARGE AND I REFUSE! LOVE THE CAR BUT HATE THE TRANSMISSION. YOU REQUIRED A DATE BELOW THAT THIS HAPPENED BUT THIS IS A DAILY ISSUE.

HAD THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT ERROR COME ON AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A MONTH-SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A WEEK. I WAS COMING TO A STOP, DRIVING LESS THAN 5MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED.
MY VEHICLE'S FUEL TANK IS COMPRESSING DUE TO A FAULTY VACUUM PURGE VALVE REQUIRING A NEW TANK, FUELPUMP AND PURGE VALVE. THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO STALL IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC @ APPROX 60 MPH AND TO STALL IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. MY RPM WILL FLUCTUATE WHEN AT A STOP AND MY FUEL GUAGE IS COMPLETELY INACCURATE REGISTERING FULL TO 1/2 AT RANDOM. SMELL OF GAS FROM SOMEWHERE BUT UNKNOWN. SYMPTOMS MATCH A RECALL ON A 2011 FORD FUSION BUT NO RECALL ON A 2012 FORD FOCUS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING SEIZED AND THE STEERING MALFUNCTION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE FAILURE WENT AWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS THE FIRST INSTANCE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE DETAILS OF THE DIAGNOSIS COULD NOT BE PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT HAPPENED A FEW TIMES AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AT 60,000 MILES APRIL OF 2015 . TURNING ON AND OFF THE CAR FIXED IT THOSE AT LEAST 10 TIMES IT HAPPENED. NOW OCTOBER 2016 AT 102,000 MILES MY CAR FAILED ME IN TRAFFIC AT A STOP LIGHT. I PUSHED THE GAS AND IT WOULDN'T DRIVE, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. AFTER BEING OFF FOR 10 MIN IT WAS MOVABLE. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FORD FOR THE B12 UPDATE THINKING THAT WOULD FIX IT. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT I COULDN'T GET MY CAR OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I STARTED THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT SYMBOL CAME UP AND I COULD TURN THE WHEEL. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO FORD. THEY DID THE B12 UPDATE AND THE WHEEL IS STILL LOCKED . THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE AND I TOLD THEM I SEE ONLINE SO MANY CARS LIKE MINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THEY SAID THEY CAN DO A DIAGNOSTICS FOR $109. NOW I SEE HOW MUCH IT'S GONNA COST AND FORD WON'T HELP ME WITH A SOLUTION BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL AND THE CAR HAS HIGH MILEAGE WITH NO WARRANTY. THEY ASK SAID I COULD COMPLETE THE OTHER RECALL I SAW ONLINE BECAUSE I'M OUT OF WARRANTY?? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I CAN'T PAY $2000 TO FIX IT WHEN IT'S A PROBLEM WITH THE MAKE OF THE CAR. THE ONLY OPTION HE GAVE ME WAS TO TRADE IT IN AND BUY A NEW ONE WITH A GOODWILL CREDIT. I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR THAT EITHER I OWE $12,000 ON THE CAR. CASE # WITH FORD CAS-10809286
I HAD PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET, AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON A BUSY STREET OR HIGHWAY, OR WHILE TURNING A CORNER, A LOSS OF CONTROL WOULD HAVE BEEN ENTIRELY POSSIBLE.

THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE OF THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH FAILING TO UNLOCK AND WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE LATCHES FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY FOR THE DOORS FROM THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

FORD HAS ALREADY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY, AS WELL AS REPLACING THE TCM. BUT I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES. CAR SHUDDERS DRAMATICALLY UNDER INITIAL ACCELERATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING TURNS. TRANSMISSION SOMETIMES DOES NOT ENGAGE UNDER INITIAL ACCELERATION, CAUSING THE CAR TO SURGE FORWARD WHEN IT DOES ENGAGE. THE FORD FOCUS HAS SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL WHEN ACCELERATING, ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING THROUGH A WIDE TURN AT LOW SPEED AND THEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I HAVE NO FAITH IN THIS FORD FOCUS WHEN MAKING TURNS, AND WILL NOT CONDUCT A TURN THAT REQUIRES PULLING OUT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND RELYING ON THE CAR'S (IN)ABILITY TO ACCELERATE TO AVOID IMPEDING THAT ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, WEATHER CLEAR 80 DEGREES, MY SUNROOF EXPLODED/SHATTERED. I CHECKED TO SEE IF IT HAD BEEN HIT BY A ROCK OR OBJECT AND NONE WERE SEEN.

HI MY NAME IS [XXX] PURCHASED 2012 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK IN NORTH CAROLING PARKWAY FORD VIN: [XXX] IN THE PAST RECEIVED SEVERAL SAFETY RECALL. 1) CLUTCH GRINDING 2) CAR ROLLING BACK WHEN ON INCLINE 3) SYSTEM UPGRADE 4) LATCH ISSUE I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ITEM 4 - AWAITING PART. MY CONCERN SAFETY - MY CAR STILL ROLLS BACK ON INCLINE AND CLUTCH MAKES GRINDING NOISE AND CAR JERKS. I TOOK INTO DEALER TO ASK FOR A REVIEW OF THIS CONTINUED ISSUE. HOWEVER I WAS TOLD MY CAR EXCEED THE 100,000 MILES MY CAR HAS 138,000 MILES. FORD WILL NOT REVIEW MY CAR UNLESS I PAY. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL 16S30 LETTER FROM FORD ON 10/6/2016. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER & WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE A REMEDY FOR THE SIDE DOOR LATCH PROBLEM & TO CALL BACK IN APRIL, MAY OR JUNE OF 2017. LETTER SAYS IF THERE ARE SYMPTOMS TO CALL MY DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT SYMPTOMS ARE, & HOW CAN THEY REPAIR IF PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL NEXT YEAR? PURCHASED A USED 2012 FORD FOCUS WITH 89,000 MILES. I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS. I RECENTLY BEGAN SMELLING FUEL. AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK I BEGAN LOOKING FOR THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. I JACKED UP THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED A FUEL LEAK AND THE FUEL TANK WAS PLASTIC. I TOOK IT TO A DEAL FOR THE DOOR LATCH RECALL AND WAS INFORMED IT NEEDS A FUEL TANK DO TO A CRACK ON THE TOP OF THE TANK. THE COST OF THE NEW TANK INSTALLED IS $1340.00 WITCH INCLUDED THE LABOR. THERE IS NO WAY A FUEL TANK SHOULD CRACK IN FOUR YEARS. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THERE IS A FUEL TANK RECALL ON FORD FUSION AND LINCOLN MILLAN, WITCH ALSO HAVE PLASTIC TANKS. THIS IS REMINDING ME OF THE 70'S WHEN AMERICAN CAR MANUFACTURING WAS TERRIBLE.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION STARTED HAVING ISSUES. IT HAS BEEN "FIXED" NOW SEVERAL TIMES. CURRENTLY AT TIMES WHEN YOU ACCELERATE THE RPMS WILL JUMP AND THE ENTIRE CAR WILL HESITATE AND VIBRATE. WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED (DASHBOARD INDICATOR AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING). THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT EIGHT (8) TIMES. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE VEHICLE BECOMES ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO NAVIGATE, ON TWO OCCASIONS ALMOST LEADING TO ACCIDENTS. IN THIS CONDITION THE VEHICLE POSES A SERIOUS PERSONAL AND PUBLIC SAFETY RISK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER (METRO FORD OF MADISON, WI) WHO KEPT IT FOR FOUR (4) DAYS. THEY STATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING THAT THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE STEERING PROBLEM, TESTED THE CAR FOR FOUR DAYS AND CHARGED ME $150.00 FOR TEST THAT PRODUCED NO RESULTS. WITHIN TWO (2) HOURS TO PICKING UP THE VEHICLE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL AND REPLACE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM IMMEDIATELY AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. OR JUST BUY THE VEHICLE BACK FROM THE OWNER. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE POSES A GREAT PUBLIC DANGER.

RECALL ON THE DOOR LATCHES. MY DRIVERS SIDE BACK DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AND LATCH. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY'VE ORDERED AN EMERGENCY REPLACEMENT BUT SAYING IT'S GOING TO BE 2-3 WEEKS BEFORE IT ARRIVES. AT THIS POINT I'M DRIVING WITH MY BACK DOOR LITERALLY TIED CLOSED. SINCE IT WON'T LATCH THE DOOR OPEN ALARM IS DINGING CONSTANTLY WHEN DRIVING. MY COMPLAINT IS FIRST OF ALL IF FORD KNEW THIS WHY AREN'T REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE? THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN A SUDDEN LOSS IN POWER STEERING OCCURRED. A "STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY. THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN CHECKED AT A FACTORY DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH APPEARED INTERMITTENTLY AND NO APPARENT PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE EPAS SYSTEM IS NOW DISABLED FULL TIME AND THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 26K MILES. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT FORD IS AWARE OF FAULTY COMPONENTS/ENGINEERING REGARDING THIS PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO RECALL. A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING COULD RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES AND LOSS OF LIFE. COSTLY REPAIRS WOULD NOT SOLVE THE INHERENT PROBLEMS WITH THIS SYSTEM AS IT WOULD BE PRONE TO FAIL AGAIN. WHEN ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY HESITANT TO DRIVE ON A FLAT ROAD. THIS ISSUE GETS WORST WHEN ON A UPWARD HILL. ONCE THE VEHICLE GETS GOING, IT SHAKES AND SHUDDERS UNTIL IT PICKS UP ENOUGH SPEED TO GO. THERE SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING SCRAPING OR RATTLING INSIDE THE ENGINE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO TROPICAL FORD IN ORLANDO FL FOR A RECALL REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH, WHICH JOB HAD TO BE DONE 3 DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN 90 DAYS. AFTER I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE ON THE 2ND ATTEMPT THE VEHICLE MYSTERIOUSLY DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANK AND SOME OTHER SENSORS INSIDE THE TANK AND RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT HE COULD SHOW ME ALL THE GAS TANKS THEY HAD REPLACED BECAUSE THEY HAD A PILE OF THEM IN THE BACK. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM AND THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT THEY WERE NOT DOING ANYTHING TO ASSIST OR TAKE CARE OF THIS SERIOUS ISSUE WHICH CAUSES YOUR CAR TO STALL AND ENGINE TO TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY OR CITY. I CALLED FORD WARRANTY DEPARTMENT AND FILED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE WAS NOT COVER BY THE WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WERE WILLING TO DO REGARDING THIS MATTER. THIS ISSUE PUTS LIVES AT RISK WHEN A VEHICLE TURNS ITSELF OF WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY OR CITY. THIS ISSUE IS PUTTING DRIVERS AND FAMILIES AT RISK. THIS ISSUE STARTED AT THE BEGINNING OF 2016 AND I RECENTLY HAD THE REPAIR DONE AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP MENTIONED ABOVE.
MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR AND IS IN COLLEGE AWAY FROM HOME. SHE GOT IN HER CAR IN THE PARKING GARAGE AT HER APARTMENT, CRANKED IT, AND THE "STEERING ASSIST DEFAULT" MESSAGE LIT AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR. THANKFULLY, SHE WASN'T DRIVING ANYWHERE WHEN THIS OCCURRED OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD.
