THE DOOR LATCH ON MY DRIVER'S DOOR FAILED JUST AFTER I GOT IN IT AND BEGAN DRIVING UP MY STREET. THE DOOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED AND AN ALERT SOUNDED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME I HAVE TO REPLACE THE LATCH AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $800.
TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED. CAR WAS NOT RESPONSIVE TO GAS PEDAL. WOULD NOT RELIABLY ACCELERATE, WOULD NOT RELIABLY BRAKE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE SHUDDERING AND DELAYED ACCELERATION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH MOTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,842.
WHILE DRIVING MY REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY. THE LATCH WILL NOT LOCK ONTO THE DOOR PIN.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND MY REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR JUST OPENED AS I WAS MAKING A TURN! LUCKILY MY WORK LAPTOP DID NOT FALL OUT OF THE CAR OR THE DOOR DIDN'T HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME! I PULLED OVER TO SHUT THE DOOR BUT IT WOULD NOT STAY SHUT. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT APPEARS THAT SOMETHING MUST BE BROKEN INSIDE THE DOOR BECAUSE IT WILL NOT LATCH! AS SUCH I HAD TO GO BUY SOME ROPE TO TIE THE DOOR HANDLE TO THE DOOR HANDLE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE IN ORDER TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED SO I COULD DRIVE HOME SAFELY.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. I CANNOT LOCK THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS. ONLY 33K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT WILL BOUNCE BACK WHEN IT IS SHUT AND WILL OPEN IF NOT HELD CLOSED WHILE DRIVING. INITIAL INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT BOUNCED BACK OPEN.
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH FAILED AND DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. CAR WAS PARKED AND I HAD IT LOCKED IT WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL. HAD IT REPAIRED BY MY MECHANIC. CONCERNED OTHER DOORS WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
I BOUGHT A 2012 FOCUS IN 2015 WITH 14,690 MILES ON IT. AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS I NOTICED PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION BUT TRIED TO THINK POSITIVE AND SAY IT CAN'T BE. AS THE DAYS AND WEEKS WENT ON IT GOT WORSE AND WORSE THE CRANKING NOISE THE LACK OF ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION, THE SHUDDERING, ETC.. THEN I GET A RECALL LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR STATING THERE'S A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION AND IF AFFECTED HAVE DEALER TAKE CARE OF IT, SO I CALLED THE DEALER AND ASKED IF THEY COULD GIVE ME A LOANER SINCE I HAVE A SEVERELY DISABLED 8 YR OLD DAUGHTER THAT I MUST HAVE TRANSPORTATION IN CASE OF ANY EMERGENCY THEY TOLD ME NO LOANERS, SO I CALLED FORD MOTOR TOLD THEM MY ISSUE AND THEY ALSO SAID NO LOANERS. I TOOK THE CAR AND I GOT IT BACK THE SAME DAY THEY TOLD ME IT JUST HAD TO BE REPROGRAMMED OK SO A WEEK LATER THE SAME THING STARTED BUT I HAVE TO WORK AS WELL SO I CAN'T TAKE OFF FROM WORK SO EASILY, SO I JUST KEPT DRIVING IT SINCE THE SERVICE MANAGER ASSURED ME IT WILL NEVER STALL. WELL IT DID JUST THIS WEEK RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH THE RED MALFUNCTION LIGHT ON. I WAS STUCK I WAITED A FEW MINS IN THE BOILING HEAT WITH MY DAUGHTER AND RESTARTED THE CAR, NEEDLESS TO SAY IT'S GOING BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN. IT'S A HAZARD DRIVING THIS CAR THANK GOD NO ONE HIT ME ON THE ROAD. WITH THIS CAR YOU CAN HAVE A MAJOR ACCIDENT IT IS THE UNSAFEST CAR YOU COULD DRIVE.
LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH BROKE. THE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH AND THE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. A BUNGEE CORD WAS NEEDED TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSE AND HAD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE DOOR WAS OPEN ON THE CAR WARNING SYSTEM. POTENTIAL OF SOMEONE FALLING OUT OF CAR WITHOUT BUNGEE CORDS HOLDING IT CLOSED. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE LATCH FAILED.
MY REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH IS NOT CATCHING. I WAS DRIVING LESS THAN 25 MPH AND THE DOOR FLUNG OPEN WITH A 7 YEAR OLD CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT HAS NOT CLOSED. I CALLED TO SEE IF THIS WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REP STATES THAT MY CAR WAS NOT BUILT IN THE FORD PLANT WITH THE RECALL. THIS IS A CONCERN OF MINE BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT PLANT MY CAR WAS BUILT IN NO MATTER WHAT PLANT IT SHOULD BE COVERED. THIS IS CLEARLY A PART DEFECT CONCERN.
"TAKATA RECALL" I OWN A FORD FOCUS 2012 AND THE LATCH ON THE DRIVERS DOOR BROKE OFF. IT IS A PLASTIC PIECE. WHEN I WAS MAKING A TURN MY DOOR FLEW OPEN. LUCKILY, I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON. IF NOT I WOULD HAVE BEEN FLYING OUT MY VEHICLE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT.
DRIVERS REAR DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH. LUCKILY THE CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME. THE HOOK INSIDE THE LATCH JUST FLOPS BACK AND FORTH. NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU SHUT THE DOOR, IT WILL NOT LATCH. DID INTERNET SEARCH AND IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF FOCUS'S.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCHES/UNLATCHES WHENEVER IT WANTS WHILE DRIVING. DOOR WON'T LATCH SHUT WHEN ENTERING OR EXITING CAR. DRIVER DOOR OPENED ON ITS OWN DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY TODAY 7/23/16 AND WOULDN'T LATCH BACK WHEN I TRIED TO SHUT THE DOOR. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. MY CAR IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. IT IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH OCCURS.
THE FRONT DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED LATCHING WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROAD TRIP. IT WAS OPERATING CORRECTLY UNTIL I GOT OUT OF MY CAR TO WALK INTO A GAS STATION. WHEN I RETURNED IT WOULD NOT LATCH. INSTEAD, IT WOULD JUST BOUNCE OFF THE DOOR FRAME WITHOUT THE LATCH ENGAGING. I TESTED THE LATCH TO SEE IF IT WAS JAMMED, BUT THE ACTUAL LATCH ITSELF MOVED JUST FINE WHEN I MOVED IT WITH MY KEY. I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR TO MY LEG WITH A BELT TO MAKE THE REST OF THE DRIVE HOME. ON MONDAY, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH, AND THAT THE ENTIRE UNIT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME A PRICE OF $680 FOR THE REPAIR, AND NEITHER THE SERVICE MANAGER NOR FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WERE WILLING TO PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. I HAD IT REPLACED BY A LOCAL AUTO SHOP THAT I TRUST, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO DO IT FOR MUCH CHEAPER THAN FORD'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SPONTANEOUSLY REFUSED TO STAY SHUT. I WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN I TRIED TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE ALARM SOUNDED, INDICATING THE REAR DOOR WAS AJAR.
2 MAJOR ISSUES: TRANSMISSION WOULD SUDDEN DROP OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. SEVERAL TIMES I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WOULD DROP INTO NEUTRAL, LEAVING ME NO WAY TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE. THIS WAS FIXED WITH A FORD WARRANTY EXTENSION AND REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM). NOW, AT 74000 MILES, I AM HAVING A MALFUNCTION OF THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS). USUALLY RIGHT WHEN I START THE VEHICLE AND AM BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE, BUT OCCASIONALLY ALSO WHILE DRIVING, A WARNING CODE APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING "MALFUNCTION: POWER STEERING" AND THE WHEEL LOCKS IN PLACE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE 2012 FOCUS SEEMS TO HAVE LOTS OF MAJOR ISSUES.
DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. IT HAPPENED WHEN I ARRIVED HOME AND REMOVED ITEMS FROM THE BACK SEAT. HAVE TO USE SEAT BELT TO SECURE THE DOOR CLOSED BECAUSE THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE OVER 500 DOLLARS TO INSTALL A NEW LATCH ASSEMBLY. WHEN I DRIVE THE WARNING LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN COME ON EVERY FEW MINUTES SAYING THE REAR DOOR IN OPEN. THIS ISSUE IS VERY UNSAFE BECAUSE I HAVE A 19 MONTH OLD THAT STILL HAS TO RIDE IN A CAR SEAT IN THE BACK.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 FORD FOCUS THE DRIVER'S DOOR FLEW OPEN WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN ON A STATE ROAD. THE DASH FLASHED WARNING AT SAME TIME DOOR FLEW OPEN. UNABLE TO SHUT DOOR, DROVE HOME HOLDING DOOR SHUT. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP, DOOR LATCH FAILURE, REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. I REQUESTED FORD DEALERSHIP RETURN DEFECTIVE PART TO ME. REPORTED TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
DOOR LATCH BROKE. DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED AND THE DOOR WILL NOT HOLD ITSELF CLOSED. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO LOCK THE DOORS, IT TRIES AND IMMEDIATELY UNLOCKS THEM. THE LATCH MECHANISM ITSELF CAN BE PUSHED CLOSED WITH YOUR FINGER WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN HOWEVER IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY STAY CLOSED. A SPRING FORCES IT BACK OPEN. THE LATCH FAILED IN THE PARKING LOT. WHEN I GOT IN TO COME HOME FROM WORK, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. I THOUGHT MAYBE THE SEAT BELT OR SOME OTHER OBJECT GOT CAUGHT IN IT HOWEVER THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. IN ORDER TO DRIVE HOME, I HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED AS BEST AS I COULD WITH ONE HAND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STEER AND OPERATE TURN SIGNALS WHICH IS EXTRAORDINARILY UNSAFE AND DISTRACTING.
DOORS LEFT SIDE (BOTH) LATCH FAILURE-FRONT AND REAR DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED-TECH FOUND LATCH IS INTERNALLY FAULTED STATIONARY-DOORS WOULD NOT LATCH, ENTERING VEHICLE
THE REAR DOOR LATCH TO OUR 2012 FORD FOCUS HAS BROKEN UNDER NORMAL USE AND THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. FORTUNATELY WE WERE NOT DRIVING THE CAR WHEN THE LATCH BROKE. WE ARE NOW FORCED TO USE ROPE AND BUNGY CORDS TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED. THE CAR IS UNSAFE IN THIS CONDITION AND IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO THEFT BECAUSE IT CANNOT BE SECURELY LOCKED. FORD HAS TOLD US OUR VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECENT (AUGUST 4, 2016) RECALL NOTICE OF 830,000 CARS AND WE ARE FORCED TO PAY OVER $600 TO GET THE REPAIR MADE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND ALL I AM GETTING FROM FORD MOTORS IS A WILLINGNESS TO REFUND ANY MONEY I PAY TO FIX THE CAR IN THE EVENT THE CAR IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO CHASE AFTER MY MONEY NOR DO I WANT TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE CAR BECAUSE OF A TECHNICALITY FORD IS RELYING ON TO AVOID STEPPING UP TO MAKE THIS REPAIR. WHILE AT A STOP, I TRIED TO CLOSE MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND THE DOOR LATCH FAILED TO LATCH AND HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED. THIS IS THE THIRD DOOR LATCH TO FAIL ON THIS CAR.
THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED. THIS IS THE SECOND LATCH THAT I HAVE HAS FAILED ON THE CAR. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED IN NOVEMBER 2015. I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT (GOING IN REVERSE) WHEN THE DOOR OPEN WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD JUST PUT MY DOG IN THE CAR AND CLOSED THE DOOR. THE DOOR LATCH FAILED SUDDENLY AND THE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN AND THE DOOR NO LONGER LATCHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A FAULTY DOOR LATCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD MY DRIVERSIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN. ONCE STOPPED I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE DOOR TO RELATCH TO CLOSE. THIS WAS A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. THE DOOR IS HAVING TO BE HELD CLOSED WITH A ROPE WHILST I CRAWL THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WHICH IS VERY DIFFICULT. HAVING 3 KIDS THIS IS A VERY SCARY SAFELY ISSUE. THE LATCH WILL COST 300-500 TO FIX. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS AN ERROR IN THE MAKING OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT FORD SHOULD FIX THE DOOR LATCH AT NO COST.
MY SON AND I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED. WE HAD NO PREVIOUS INFORMATION ABOUT ALL THE PROBLEMS THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAVE HAD. THE CARS TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT AROUND 98,067 MILES. 07/20/16. WELL EXACTLY 600 MILES AND $2400 DOLLARS LATER IT WENT OUT AGAIN. FORD HAS TOLD US THAT THEY WILL NOT PURCHASE THE CAR BACK OR PAY TO FIX IT PROPERLY. MY SON IS TO LEAVE NEXT WEEK AND WILL BE DRIVING FROM INDIANA TO SEATTLE. IF AND WHEN THE DEALERSHIP IS DONE FIXING A SECOND TIME I'M ABSOLUTELY AFRAID TO EVEN LET HIM DRIVE IT THAT FAR. THIS IS VERY UNFAIR TO US TO LET THIS PROBLEM NOT BE RECALLED. IT IS NOT ONLY US BUT MANY OTHER FOCUS OWNERS THAT ARE STUCK WITH THESE HORRIBLE CARS. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY SON ON HIS WAY TO SEATTLE THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY!!

2012 FORD FOCUS. DIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH DID NOT SECURE AND CAR DOOR OPENED WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION AND JEAPORDAZIED THE SAFETY OF MY SON. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO SECURE DOOR IT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. NOTIFIED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY ADVISED NO RECALL AT THE MOMENT FOR SUCH ISSUE. CAN ONLY REPLACE LATCH FOR COST OF $640.00 DOLLARS. I MOST RECENTLY TOOK MY 2013 FORD FUSION WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED AND DOOR LATCH REPLACED,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT THE LATCH DID NOT ENGAGE. THE CONTACT PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO SHUT THE DOOR, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CONTACT HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE DRIVING HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER AWAITING REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND PAID $510.72
CAR ALWAYS SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STATIONARY ZERO MPH. THIS CAR HAS A SEL OPTION AND IS DRIVEN ONLY IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I HAVE NEVER USED THE SEL OPTION! THE SHUDDER CAUSES SLOPPY ACCELERATION DELAYS FROM ZERO STARTS, LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS, JUST LIKE A MANUAL SHIFT BEING DRIVEN BY A DRIVER UNSKILLED CLUTCH/SHIFT COORDINATION. THE SAME THING OCCURS WHEN BRAKING FOR A LIGHT, THEN AT LOW SPEED, THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND YOU CHANGE TO ACCELERATING INSTEAD OF COMPLETELY BECOMING STATIONARY.
DRIVER DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED. WILL NOT KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED. SAME PROBLEM AS FORD FUSION AND FORD FIESTA. PLEASE MAKE FORD ADD THE FOCUS FOR A DOOR LATCH RECALL. CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN DEFECT OCCURRED. WENT TO CLOSED THE DOOR AND IT WOULD LATCH.
2 DOOR LATCHES HAVE BROKEN WITHIN THE PAST TEN DAYS. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAME UNLATCHED WHILE DRIVING, WOULD NOT CLOSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE PCM, TCM, AND SHAFT SEALS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER THE MANUFACTURER'S VOLUNTARY RECALL IN WHICH THE CLUTCH AND THE TCM WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
THE DRIVER DOOR WILL NO LONGER LATCH. THE DOOR WILL CLOSE COMPLETELY BUT THE LATCH DOES NOT ENGAGE TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED.
MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH BROKE. DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND LATCH IS BROKE SPRING MECHANISM IS GONE. FORCED TO HAVE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. WORKED FINE THEN WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSE. THE DOOR NOW WILL SWING OPEN UNLESS HELD IN PLACE.
THE DOOR LATCH ON MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR FAILED AND THE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. WHEN I TURNED RIGHT OUT OF MY COMPLEX WAS WHEN IT OPENED. FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON VEHICLES INCLUDING 2012 FORD FOCUSES REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT DID NOT INCLUDE VEHICLES BOUGHT AND REGISTERED IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, WHERE I LIVE. I BELIEVE THAT BECAUSE MY CAR HAS DEMONSTRATED THE PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL ADDRESSES, THEY SHOULD BE FIXING IT FOR FREE AS PART OF THE RECALL. I JUST HAD TO PAY $226.00 FOR THE PART TO FIX MY DOOR, AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER FOR A MONTH.
THE DOOR LATCH ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE FAILED TO LOCK IN AND THE DOOR COULD NOT BE CLOSED AT ALL WHENEVER I DROVE OR PARKED THE CAR. IT IS SO DANGEROUS FOR DRIVING AND THE CAR IS HIGHLY POSSIBLE TO BE STOLEN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD (BERGE FORD, MESA, AZ) DEALER SERVICE TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT IT COSTED ME $440.00.
THE LATCHING MECHANISM IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING, AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. THERE WERE NO OUTSIDE INFLUENCES, THE MECHANISM SIMPLY STOPPED WORKING AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH.
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING WONT RESPOND WANTS TO DRIFT INTO OTHER LANES OF TRAFFIC.THE STEERING GETS LOOSE AND TIGHT AND WHEN YOU TRY TO CORRECT FOR LANE DRIFT IT TAKES A SECOND FOR THE STEERING TO RESPOND, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I CALLED FORD AND OF COURSE THEY WONT DO NOTHING OR HELP IN ANYWAY. CAR ONLY HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT AND OF COURSE ITS NOT COVERED BUT THEY CAN FIX IT FOR $2000.00. FIRST TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS NOW THIS.
MY DRIVERS SIDE LATCH FAILED ON ME ONE DAY, WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND AN ALARM WENT OFF SAYING THE DOOR WAS OPEN. I MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN, WHEN MY DOOR BEGAN TO SWING OPEN. LUCKILY, I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE TURNING. MY CAR HAD ABOUT 70,000 MILES ON IT, WHEN THE INCIDENT OCURRED. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THE LATCH ROD WAS BROKEN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY TOLD ME TO GO TO FORD AND SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT. WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE RECALL AND IT WOULD COST $500 TO REPAIR IT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THAT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, WHEN NOW I HAVE TO TIE A BUNGEE CORD TO KEEP IT SOMEWHAT CLOSED.
RECALLED VEHICLE FOR COMPUTER SYSTEM. DEFECT CAUSES BREAKS TO WEAR EARLY, SHUDDERING IN TRANSMISSION, AND EVENTUAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AS I SEE FROM MANY OTHER INTERNET COMPLAINTS.
THE POWER STEERING ('EPAS' - ELECTRIC POWER-ASSISTED STEERING) SYSTEM FAILED IN MY 2012 FORD FOCUS ON 7/15/2016. THE POWER LOSS WAS INTERMITTENT AND UNEXPECTED AT FIRST, RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF UPON VEHICLE START-UP, OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THE POWER STEERING EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCED FULL FAILURE ON JULY 15TH, 2016 AND REMAINS INOPERABLE TO THIS DAY, LEAVING ME TO DEAL WITH COMPLETE MANUAL STEERING ONLY. AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE, STEERING EFFORT HAS INCREASED TREMENDOUSLY DURING STATIONARY AND LOW SPEED MANEUVERING. IT ALSO MAKES CONTROLLING THE STEERING WHEEL AND VEHICLE UNDER BUMPY ROAD CONDITIONS TROUBLESOME AT ALL SPEEDS, AS WELL AS AVOIDING LANE DRIFT AT ALL SPEEDS. THE MOST CONCERNING RESULT OF THIS POWER STEERING FAILURE IS DEALING WITH BUMPY ROAD CONDITIONS, INCLUDING POTHOLES, WHICH CAN JERK THE STEERING WHEEL FROM MY GRIP AT TIMES AND VEER THE VEHICLE INTO ANOTHER LANE, OR WORSE, AN OPPOSING LANE OF TRAFFIC. THIS HAS AT TIMES CAUSED MILD INJURY TO MY WRISTS AND OCCASIONALLY STRAIN IN MY ELBOWS WHEN DEALING WITH SUDDEN JERKS AS WELL AS THE IMMENSE EFFORT REQUIRED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IN STATIONARY OR LOW-SPEED MANEUVERING SITUATIONS. I AM A HEALTHY AND PHYSICALLY FIT YOUNG MAN, & EVEN I HAVE TROUBLE DEALING WITH THE STEERING WHEEL IN THESE SITUATIONS. DUE TO THE ENORMOUS COST OF REPAIR, WHICH CAN COST UPWARDS OF $2000, I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO AFFORD REPAIR THE STEERING, WHICH HAS BEEN INOPERABLE FOR OVER A YEAR. THE NHTSA HAS ALREADY RECALLED THE 2011-13 FORD TAURUS AND FLEX, 2011-13 LINCOLN MKS AND MKT, 2011-12 FORD FUSION AND LINCOLN MKZ, AND 2011 MERCURY MILAN FOR THE SAME EPAS STEERING FAILURE, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE FOR THE FOCUS YET. I WORRY THIS ISSUE WILL POTENTIALLY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO ME OR MY LOVED ONES.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WHEN STARTED DISPLAYED THE EPAS WARNING/SERVICE REQUIRED MESSAGE. NO INJURIES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, BUT HAD THE SYSTEM GONE OUT AT SPEED IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT STORY. VEHICLE IS DRIVEN BY MY 24 Y/O SON, AND HIS GENERATION HAVE NO EXPERIENCE DRIVING W/O POWER STEERING. INTERNET RESEARCH HAS HIGHLIGHTED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, AS WELL AS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST THE MANUFACTURER. EARLY REPAIR COST ESTIMATES PUT THE DOLLAR VALUE BETWEEN $1500 AND $2000.
WITH 65300 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH FAILED. THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH .I MUST SECURE THE DOOR WITH A BUNGEE CORD. MY DEALER INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE VIN IS NOT PART OF ANY RECALL AND THAT THE REPAIR OF THE SINGLE DOOR IS $600. NO ACCOMMODATION OF ANY KIND WAS OFFERED.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS NEEDS A NEW FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, PURGE VALVE AND CANISTER PER TSB 16-0062. IT'S BECAUSE THE PURGE VALVE WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND HAS COLLAPSED MY GAS TANK (PLASTIC) AND I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, GAS TANK, FUEL TUBE ASSEMBLY. ALL COST $2000. MANY OTHERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM BUT IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS A RECALL, NOT AN "EFF" YOU TO THE CUSTOMER THAT HAS TO DEAL W/ A KNOWN ISSUE TO FORD. WHEN STOPPED, THE VEHICLE WOULD IDLE ROUGH. THE ENGINE ACTUALLY DIED ON ME IN TRAFFIC ONE DAY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON W/ CODE P1450. THEN MY FUEL GAUGE BECAME HIGHLY INACCURATE, SHOWING A FULL TANK OF FUEL WHEN I MAY BE AT HALF OR LOWER.
DRIVER'S SIDE BACK DOOR OPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. SPRING FORCING LATCH TO SECURE IS EVIDENTLY BROKEN. VEHICLE WAS GOING STRAIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH.
