THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTIONED, NOT ALLOWING THE DOOR TO SHUT. MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON 07/14/2016 AND STOPPED AT THE STORE. UPON RETURNING TO THE CAR HE NOTICED THE LIGHTS ON AND DOOR AJAR. WHEN HE GOT IN THE CAR, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. HE HAD TO DRIVE HOME HOLDING THE DOOR SHUT WITH HIS HAND, WHILE STEERING WITH THE OTHER. THIS DEFECT IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE. BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL YET. I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET.
DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WON'T LATCH. CAR WAS PARKED AT THE GROCERY STORE, AND I OPENED THE DOOR TO LOAD GROCERIES INTO CAR. WHEN I CLOSED THE DOOR, INSTEAD OF LATCHING, IT BOUNCED BACK OUT. I COULDN'T GET IT TO LATCH AT ALL. MY 17 YEAR OLD CHILD HAD TO SIT IN THE BACK AND HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED TO GET HOME. IT STILL WON'T LATCH, SO I WILL HAVE TO HAVE IT FIXED.
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS AUTO MANUAL TRANSMISSION HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS. WHEN I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE TRANSMISSION AND WHEN I HAVE EXPLAINED WHAT IT DOES THEY SAID THAT IS HOW IT SHOULD BE. IT HAS ACTED LIKE IT WON'T GO AND IT HAS ROLLED BACK ON HILLS. IT HAS SHUTTERED AND STUTTERED TO CHANGE GEARS. FINALLY IT DIDN'T AND IT WAS IN TRAFFIC ON A 70 MPH HIGHWAY. WHILE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC - NOT STOP AND GO - JUST MORNING TRAFFIC WITH SEVERAL OTHER DRIVERS ON A 70 MPH THE FORD FOCUS STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO PAST 40-45MPH. I HAD TO TURN MY HAZARDS ON AND TRY TO KEEP GOING AND WORK MY WAY OVER TO THE SHOULDER. IT WAS DIFFICULT AND VERY DANGEROUS. I COULDN'T GET OVER AS QUICK AS I WOULD HAVE LIKED AND I COULD HAVE DIED! THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT GEARS. IT IS LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN BETWEEN AND THEN IT WOULDN'T REALLY SLOW DOWN AND FINALLY I HAD TO COAST ON THE SHOULDER TO A STOP. I WAS ALMOST AT AN EXIT SO I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY TO GET OFF TO A QUICK PARKING LOT. BUT THEN IT WOULDN'T GO. IT WASN'T STOPPED, BUT IT WASN'T DRIVING. THEN A MESSAGE INDICATED HOT TRANSMISSION AND I WAITED AS IT INDICATED TO LET IT COOL. FINALLY IT CLEARED AND NO MORE MESSAGE. I TRIED TO GO AGAIN ON THE SHOULDER TO GET TO A SAFE PARKING LOT OR SOMETHING AND IT WENT FOR A MINUTE GOT STUCK AT 40 MPH AND STARTED TO SLOW. THE CAR'S THROTTLE WAS GOING AND REVVING BUT NOTHING. I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. LET IT COOL AND THEN I JUST TRIED TO GO TO THIS WIDE PART OF THE SHOULDER ON THE EXIT RAMP SO IT WOULD BE SAFE TO GET A TOW AND GET MY STUFF OUT OF MY CAR TO MY HUSBAND'S CAR. I GOT A TOW TO A LOCAL FORD SHOP AND THEY SAID "YOU HAVE TO DRIVE IT DIFFERENTLY." A CAR THAT I HAVE HAD 4ISH YEARS, NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE IT DIFFERENTLY? HOW DO I DRIVE TO WHERE IT DOESN'T STOP WORKING? THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN!
AS I STARTED MY DRIVE TO WORK ON 7/13/16 ON MY COUNTY ROAD AND MY INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID PASSENGER DOOR OPEN. I EXITED MY VEHICLE TO FIND MY REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPEN AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, I HAD TO REPLACE THE LATCH ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY BUT ALSO PUTS A BURDEN ON MY FINANCIAL SITUATION, CONSIDERING I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR TO WORK UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED.
WHEN I APPROACHED MY VEHICLE PARKED IN A PRIVATE PARKING LOT I NOTICED THE DRIVER DOOR WAS AJAR. I TRIED TO SHUT IT MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. I ENDED UP MANUALLY HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED, WHICH WAS VERY UNSAFE, AND TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST FORD SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIRS. I WAS EVENTUALLY DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY DOOR LATCH THAT WAS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO HAVE REPLACED. UGH!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR BECAME AJAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCH FAILED AND PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM CLOSING. Power steering was intermittent starting in 2014, usually on hot days or when driving for an extended period of time. By intermittent, I mean it would have power assist, then none, while driving with only a dash indicator "i". Finally, in 2016 the power steering utterly failed. Ford was unable to diagnose the issue if the car was not currently in the failed state. Ford wants the entire electronic power steering module replaced. Forums have indicated this is a known deficiency in heat-shielding the electronics within the module and failures while driving could lead to accidents and death.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH HAS A BROKEN SPRING AND WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL! MY SON WENT OUT TO THE CAR TO LEAVE AND PUT MY GRANDSON IN THE BACK SEAT AND TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT WOULDN'T LATCH. HE CALLED FOR SOMEONE TO PICK UP THE 3 YEAR OLD THEN USED HIS BELT TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT AND TOOK IT BILL UTTER FORD. FORD HAS INFORMED US THE PART IS NOT COVERED AND IT IS ON A MAJOR BACK ORDER WITH NO ESTIMATED DATE OF AVAILABILITY. THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO GIVE US A LOANER CAR UNTIL PART COMES IN. THE FOCUS IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH A BROKEN DOOR LATCH! THIS CAR HAS 70,000 MILES AND WAS A CERTIFIED PREOWNED WHEN WE BOUGHT IT.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION, BEING DRIVEN ON A CITY STREET. DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED.
MY SON'S 2012 FORD FOCUS LEFT REAR DOOR FLUNG OPEN ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THANKFUL NO ONE WAS INJURED, AND WHEN HE PULLED TO THE SHOULDER HE REALIZED THAT HE COULD NOT GET THE TO ENGAGE TO CLOSE OR LOCK. HE STRUGGLED WITH IT FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND REALIZED IT WAS USELESS. HE THEN HAD TO DRIVE HOME HOLDING REAR DOOR CLOSED WHILE TRYING TO SAFELY DRIVE THE CAR. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THE DOOR LATCHES ON THESE VEHICLES. DRIVERS RISK DEATH AND INJURY.
I HAVE NOW AN ISSUE WITH MY PASSENGER DOOR THAT WILL NOT CLOSE. I OPENED MY DOOR AND WENT TO CLOSE IT AND IT POPPED BACK OPEN. WOULD NOT LATCH TO CLOSE. AS A RESULT I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED. MY CAR WAS IN A PARKED POSITION AND I WAS PLACING ITEMS ON THE BACK SEAT. I WAS ABLEBTO OPEN THE DOOR BUT AS I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR WOULD NOT ENGAGE OR LATCH JUST POPPED OPEN.
CAR DOOR WON'T LATCH. SWUNG OPEN AT RANDOM AND WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. OCCURRED IN MOTION, BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. SIMILAR RECALL FOR DIFFERENT FORD VEHICLES BUT NOT THE FORD FOCUS 2012.
CAR WILL STALL OUT WHEN STOPPED. GAS NEEDLE WILL NOT WORK SOMETIMES. ECHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND GO OFF WHEN GAS IT PUT INTO THE VWHICLE.IT
THE PASSENGER REAR DRIVERSIDE DOOR WON'T CLOSE. THERE WAS NO EVENT THAT HAPPENED TO CAUSE THIS ISSUE, IT JUST STOPPED FUNCTIONING ALL ON IT'S OWN AND JUST LIKE MY 1ST REPORT ON THIS SAME VEHICLE LAST MONTH REGARDING THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNEW THIS PROBLEM EXISTED 2-3 YEARS AGO AND CUNSUMERS WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS POTENTIAL DANGER OF THE DOORS COMING OPEN W/O WARNING AND MALFUNCTIONING. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT, OR WORST, DIE B4 FORD IS FORCED TO RECALL THESE EFFECTED VEHICLES FOR REPAIR? AS A CONSUMER, I WANT TO KNOW WHY FORD ISN'T FORCED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM? AS OF NOW I HAVE 2 DOORS THAT WON'T CLOSE SO THEY CAN'T BE LOCKED AND I HAVE NO GARAGE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN, SO IT'S VERY VOLNERABLE TO THEFT IF IT'S NOTICED THESE DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED AND IF IT RAINS, THE VEHICLE WILL RECIEVE WATER DAMAGE ON TH ENTERIOR. SO, HOW LONG NOW B4 ANOTHER DOOR STOPS WORKING IN THIS SAME MANNER. I WAS PREPARING THE VEHICLE 07/09/16 FOR TAKING IT ON 07/11/16 TO ANOTHER REPAIR FACILITY THAN FORD TO GET AN ESTIMATE ON FIXING THE 1ST DOOR REPORTED ON LAST MONTH TO YOU, IN HOPES TAT IT WOULD BE A LOT CHEAPER THAN $600, BUT NOW THAT 2 DOORS ARE FAULTY, IT'S NO WAY I CAN AFFORD DOING THAT AND AS I THOUGHT ABOUT IT, THIS WAS FORD WAS HOPING PEOPLE WOULD DO PROBABLY, I'M NOT IN THEIR HEADS OR MEETINGS. THIS IS THEIR DESIGN ISSUE (FLAW), THEY NEED TO FIX THIS, OR TAKE THIS VEHICLE BACK AND RETURN ALL OUR MONEY INVESTED IN THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING DOWN PAYMENT AND MONTHLY PAYMENTS, WHICH ARE ALL ON TIME SINCE DAY 1.
MY BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED. I WENT INTO THE STORE AND WHEN I CAME BACK I NOTICED MY INDICATOR KEPT TELLING ME MY DOOR WAS OPENED. I GOT OUT AND TRIED TO CLOSE IT BIT IT WOULDN'T STAY CLOSED. I HAD TO USE THE SEAT BELT JUST SO IT COULD STAY CLOSED ON THE WAY HOME. I FEEL LIKE FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS MALFUNCTION.
DRIVER REAR DOOR LATCH BROKEN WHILE DRIVING. LEAVING A PARKING GARAGE THE REAR DOOR SUDDENLY SWINGS OPEN NEARLY HITTING A PASSING CAR. AFTER PULLING OVER TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT IS APPARENT THE DOOR LATCH IS BROKEN AND WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL. I HAVE A SHORT VIDEO SHOWING THE FAILURE OF THE DOOR TO LATCH IF NEEDED.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED SEVERAL TIMES AT START UP OR LOW SPEED JULY 2016. DIAGNOSED AS INTERNAL SYSTEM FAILURE OF THE STEERING RACK PROGRAM. THE STEERING RACK WAS REPLACED AT $1900. FORTUNATELY, I DID NOT HAVE HIGHWAY SPEED FAILURES BEFORE THE ERROR COULD BE DIAGNOSED AND FIXED. STEERING IS EXCEEDINGLY MORE DIFFICULT THAN OLD "MANUAL" STEERING WITHOUT THE POWER ASSIST.
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH FAILURE WHILE STATIONARY. OCCURED AT 1315 ON 8 JULY 2016. UNLOCKED VEHICLE AND ENTERED TO DRIVE HOME. NOTICED DOOR DID NOT LATCH WHEN PULLED SHUT AND FREELY OPENS. WAS FORCED TO TIE A STRAP AROUND FRONT AND BACK DOORS THROUGH OPEN WINDOWS TO GET HOME. WITHOUT PRESURE HOLDING DOOR CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING SOUNDS. UNABLE TO SAFELY LOCK VEHICLE OVERNIGHT TO PREVENT VANDALISM. SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000. CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT'S NOT COVERED BY ANY RECALL AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO INSPECT FIRST BEFORE GIVING MORE INFO. SINCE IT IS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT TO GET THE CAR DROPPED OFF I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FOLLOWUP TODAY. PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR MORE INFO.
MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSE.
DOOR LATCH FAILURE DURING DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR, TOOK A RIGHT TURN AND OUT OF NOWHERE THE DRIVER'S DOOR CAME UNLATCHED AND OPENED. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME BY HOLDING THE DOOR SHUT AND DRIVING BASICALLY WITH 1 HAND. AFTER ARRIVING AT HOME, IT BECAME EVIDENT THROUGH MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE AND LATCH THE DOOR THAT THE LATCH WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS, IT IS ALSO LEAVES MY CAR MORE VULNERABLE FOR THIEF. THOUGH RESEARCH OF RECALLS I AM AWARE THIS IS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. WE WERE IN MOTION ON A 4 LANE ROAD IN A RURAL AREA AND TURNING. THIS HAPPENED ON JULY 8TH, 2016

THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, AND NOW WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL.
IN APRIL 2016, THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH QUIT WORKING AFTER I ATTEMPTED TO SHUT IT TO GO HOME FROM WORK. I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO SHUT THE DOOR AND HAD TO TIE IT SHUT TO DRIVE IT. I HAD IT REPAIRED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR JUST UNDER 600$. TODAY, 07 JULY 2016, MY PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH QUIT WORKING WHILE I WAS VACUUMING THE CAR. I WENT TO LEAVE AND THE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR CAME ON. I ATTEMPTED TO SHUT IT AND IT WOULD NOT SHUT. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE IT ISN'T RECALLED THEY WON'T FIX IT.
MY CAR STARTS WHEN IT WANT TO IT WENT DEAD ON THE INTERSTATE AND WOULD NOT START UNTIL THE SECOND TIME I TURN THE KEY IT SIT FOR A WHILE AND THEN IT STARTED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN INDEPENDENTLY AND THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH STOPPED CLOSING. THE PART ITSELF NO LONGER CLOSES AROUND THE PIN CAUSING THE DOOR NOT TO SHUT OR LOCK. UNLESS PHYSICALLY RESTRAINED, THE DOOR WILL SWING OPEN WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SEVERAL POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARDS. THANKFULLY IT DID NOT BREAK WHILE I WAS MOVING. I DROVE HOME FROM WORK, PARKED, AND THEN LEFT TO GO RUN ERRANDS, BUT WHEN I WENT OUT TO RUN ERRANDS THE DOOR DID NOT CLOSE ANYMORE. UPON VISUAL INSPECTION AND COMPARISON TO THE PASSENGER SIDE I NOTICED A SMALL PLASTIC PIECE THAT APPEARED TO BE BROKEN OFF ON THE FRONT OF THE LATCH.
MY DRIVER SIDE LATCH HAS FAILED. MY CAR DOOR WON'T CLOSE PROPERLY ON ITS OWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION LOST POWER. WHEN THE SHIFT LEVER WAS PLACED IN THE DRIVE POSITION AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TRAVERSE A HILL, THE TRANSMISSION LOST POWER AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WERE REPROGRAMMED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000. UPDATED 01/05/17*LJ *JS
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOST THE ABILITY TO SHUT. WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, IT WOULDN'T LATCH. HAD THE CAR INSPECTED AND DISCOVERED THE REAR DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SPOKE TO FORD AND APPARENTLY THE PART IS ON A 4 MONTH BACK ORDER! NOT SURE WHY THIS HASN'T YET GONE TO RECALL. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, FOUND OUT THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING ON A LOT OF 2012-13 FOCUS, AND AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN STARTED. I WAS CHARGED $129 FOR THE MECHANIC TO INSPECT THE CAR, BUT HAVEN'T HAD IT SERVICED YET DUE TO THE PART BEING ON BACK ORDER. I DON'T HAVE THE RECEIPT FOR THE INSPECTION HANDY BUT CAN SCAN A COPY IF NEEDED.
GOT INTO MY FOCUS AS I NORMALLY DO. WENT TO PULL THE DOOR SHUT AND IT DID NOT LATCH. WILL NOT LATCH WHETHER LOCKED OR UNLOCKED. GLAD IT DIDN'T FLY OPEN LIKE I'VE READ THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE. ALSO GLAD IT DID NOT BOUNCE BACK AND HIT MY NEIGHBORS CAR. VERY UPSETTING TO READ FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM IN OVER A HALF MILLION OF THEIR VEHICLES.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHEN I MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN ON A CITY STREET. DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE NOW. DEFECTIVE LATCH. DOOR BOUNCES OPEN WHEN I TRY TO CLOSE IT. I RESEARCHED ISSUE AND FORD HAS DONE RECALLS FOR OTHER MODELS BUT NOT THE FOCUS. DEALER SAID IT WOULD BE $500 TO FIX.
TURNED MY CAR ON TO TAKE MY SON TO SCHOOL AND IMMEDIATELY THE "STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" ALERT CAME ON. TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON BUT STILL THE SAME ALERT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER MINS AFTER AND THEY INFORMED ME THE RACK AND PINION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED COSTING ME OVER $2000!
FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED. DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. NOTICED WHILE PARKED.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR OPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND WILL NOT RE LATCH. APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE WITH OTHERS REPORTING SIMILAR ISSUES.
THIS IS THE SECOND/SAME ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLES DOOR LATCHING SYSTEM. FIRST WAS IN OCT 2015, REF #10784961-DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR. THIS TIME SPOUSE WAS DRIVING OUT OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD ON THE CITY STREET, CAR WAS IN MOTION APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. SHE MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND THE DRIVER DOOR SWUNG OPEN. SHE STOPPED AND PULLED THE DOOR CLOSED BUT IT WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. SHE RETURNED HOME AND I FOUND THAT THE DRIVE DOOR LATCHING SYSTEM WAS NOT ENGAGING. I AM USING A SMALL ROPE ATTACHED TO THE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL HANDLE TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED WHEN NOT OCCUPIED. I AM UNABLE TO LOCK/SECURE MY VEHICLE AND THE INTERIOR/EXTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN THE DOOR IS NOT PULLED CLOSED WITH THE SMALL ROPE ATTACHED TO THE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL HANDLE ON ONE END AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON THE OTHER END. NO INJURIES DURING INCIDENT.
MY VEHICLE HAD A DOOR MALFUNCTION THAT WOULDN'T ALLOW PROPER CLOSURE. AS THIS WAS "AFTER HOURS" FOR A TYPICAL DEALERSHIP, I HAD TO LEAVE BY CAR DOOR AJAR UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT INTO A SERVICE STATION. ONCE I DID, I LEARNED THAT THIS WAS AN INCREDIBLY COMMON MALFUNCTION AND WAS ADVISED THAT I SHOULDN'T LEAN FROM THE INSIDE ON ANY OF MY DOORS, INCLUDING THE DRIVER DOOR. I PLEAD WITH FORD (BOTH DEALERSHIP AND FORD CORPORATE) TO REPLACE THE NECESSARY PARTS ON ALL 4 OF THESE DEFECTIVE DOORS, AS THIS IS A FACTORY MALFUNCTION; WELL DOCUMENTED BY THOUSANDS OF FORD OWNERS, AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WASN'T RECALLED SO I'D HAVE TO SETTLE FOR $600 PER DOOR IN ORDER TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I, UNABLE TO AFFORD $2400 IN CHARGES, NOW I HAVE TO HOPE THAT MY CAR DOESN'T OPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. WHICH WILL ONLY CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE TO ANY VEHICLE OR PERSONS AROUND ME IF ISSUE CAUSES ACCIDENT. I ALSO WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, OR SEATED NEAR PASSENGER DOOR, OR BACK SEAT DOOR THAT WAS NOT FIXED - AS THEY COULD HAVE THIS SITUATION HAPPEN. WHILE ALWAYS BUCKLED, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS HORRIFYING FACTORY DEFECT WON'T CAUSE HARM WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. AT THIS POINT. I WOULD HOPE THAT THIS ISSUE ONLY ASSISTS IN GETTING A FACTORY RECALL FROM FORD AND FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF THE $600 CHARGE; BEFORE ANY FURTHER ACCIDENTS. NOT ONLY FOR MY CHILDREN'S SAKE, FOR MY SAKE, OR THE NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS OF THESE DEFECTIVE VEHICLES; BUT ALSO FOR THE SAKE OF EVERY DRIVER AND PASSENGER ON THE ROAD NEAR AN AFFLICTED FORD VEHICLE. I PLEAD FOR HELP IN GETTING THIS FIXED. PLEASE.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH STOPPED LATCHING DOOR BOUNCES SHUT AND OPEN AGAIN NOT CLOSING PROPERLY. I HAD TO SECURE IT WITH A CORD ANCHORED TO ANOTHER PART OF THE CAR INTERIOR TO DRIVE HOME. I ALREADY HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE DRIVER REAR DOOR LATCH. THE CHECK DOOR LIGHT COMES NO AND OF AS DRIVING WHILE THE DOOR IS TIED SHUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO VEER SLIGHTLY OFF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
DROVE CAR TO STORE ON WAY TO WORK . PARKED CAR CAME OUT TO START VEHICLE. PANEL LIT UP STATED" STEERING ASSIST FAULT. TURNED CAR OFF REMAINED THE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED. CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS TOLD COVERED ON THE POWERTRAIN DEALER SAYS IT WILL COST OVER 2000.00 THAT MONIES I DON'T HAVE TO SPARE,
JUNE 2016 NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT DROP IN MY AVERAGE MPG. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALER WHO TOLD ME THE PURGE VALVE WAS STUCK OPEN CREATING EXCESSIVE VACUUM ON FUEL TANK CAUSING THE TANK TO WARP AND THE FUEL PUMP TO BEND.
TCM PROBLEMS WIFE PULLED OUT TO A RESIDENTIAL INTERSECTION AND THE CAR STALLED, LUCKILY NO CARS WE'RE COMING AT THE TIME SHE CALLED ME AND WAS SCARED SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO IT TOOK ME I'M OUT 30 MINUTES TO GET TO HER MEANWHILE CARS WERE BACKING UP AND GOING AROUND HER WE PULLED IT INTO MY MOTHER-IN-LAW'S DRIVEWAY WHICH WAS NEAR AND ASK MY BROTHER-IN-LAW THAT IS A MECHANIC TO CHECK IT OUT AND HE INDICATED THAT IT WAS THE TCM THAT WAS OUT I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION ABOUT SIX MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT NEW IT FINALLY WENT OUT. I USE THIS CAR TO GO TO WORK I AM A STATE CIRCUIT RIDER AND PUT A LOT OF MILEAGE ON MY CAR ILEARN TO DEAL WITH THE SLUGGISH TRANSMISSION BECAUSE OF THE DEALERS INDICATED THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT JUST TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS DONE AND THAT WAS THE ONLY THING THAT FOR DONE FOR MY VEHICLE. AFTER FORD INDICATED RECALL I HAD TOO MANY MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE TO QUALIFY IT WAS JUST BARELY OVER 50,000 MILES THE FIRST TIME. SECOND LETTER INDICATED FOR ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO BE CHECKED BUT THE DEALER MECHANIC SAID THAT THEY HAD TO PHYSICALLY HEAR OR FEEL THE SHUDDERING OF THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE THEY COULD PROGRAM IT AGAIN THIS WENT ON UNTIL I HAD NO WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WITH SOMETIMES DO THE SHUTTERING OR SKIPPING OF THE TRANSMISSION NOT ALL THE TIME THAT'S WHY THE DEALER SAID THAT HE COULD NOT DO IT UNTIL IT WAS DOING IT FOR HIM. SO I LEARNED TO IGNORE THE SHUDDERING AND SKIPPING OF THE TRANSMISSION AND ADAPTED TO DRIVING WITH IT BUTT WHEN MY WIFE DROVE THE CAR AND IT FINALLY DIED ON HER THAT IS TOO MUCH TO DEAL WITH.
I HAVE HAD *2* OF MY DOOR LATCHES FAIL. DRIVER DOOR, AND DRIVER-SIDE PASSENGER DOOR. I HAVE HAD THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH REPLACED (APRIL 21ST, 2016) AND THE 2ND LATCH JUST FAILED BUT NOT YET REPLACED (JULY 2ND, 2016). THE FIRST REPLACEMENT COST ME $381.47, AND NONE OF IT WAS COVERED BY FORD AS IT IS NOT PART OF A RECALL.
DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH STOPPED WORKING. DOOR WON'T STAY CLOSED, HAVE TO USE TOW STRAPS TO KEEP DOOR CLOSED OR IT WILL FLY OPEN WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
WE PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW IN AUGUST OF 2012 AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. JERKING, STUTTERING, ETC. CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED BY FORD AT LEAST THREE TIMES UNDER WARRANTY TO ONLY FAIL AGAIN. FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 100,000 DUE TO THEIR KNOWN FAULTY DESIGN BUT HAS YET TO FIX THE PROBLEM. OWNERS WILL BE LEFT WITH A CAR THAT IS UNSAFE, EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN AND / OR UNUSABLE ONCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS ON THE HIGHWAY AND IS CITY DRIVING. CURRENTLY THE CAR WILL NOT GO ABOVE 30 MILES AND HOUR AND NO SUPPORT FROM LOCAL FORD DEALER OR FORD CORPORATE ON GETTING RENTAL CAR UNTIL THEY CAN FINALLY FIT US IN 4 DAYS FROM NOW. MIND YOU THIS CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY AND IS A KNOWN DEFECT THEY'VE YET TO FIX. WHY AFTER FIVE YEARS OF KNOWN PROBLEMS HAS THIS CAR NOT BEEN RECALLED? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE IN ACCIDENTS BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? LISTED TODAY'S DATE AS DATE OF DATE OF INCIDENT ALTHOUGH THIS IS JUST THE LASTEST IN A LONG LINE OF HEADACHES AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WE'VE EXPERIENCED SINCE BUYING THIS CAR.
MY DRIVER AND DRIVER'S PASSENGER DOOR LATCHES DOES NOT WORK ON MY VEHICLE. I AM UNABLE TO CLOSE AND SECURE MY DOORS AT HOME, WORK, NOR OUT IN PUBLIC. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY UP TO 1400 ON TWO NEW LATCHES. MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I PULLED THE HANDLE TO OPEN IT AND WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT NEVER LATCH ONTO THE DOOR FRAME. I HAVE ROPE AND CORDS HOLDING THE DOOR IN PLACE AS I DRIVE AND WHEN MY KIDS TRAVEL TO SCHOOL. MY DOORS ARE UNSECURED DAILY.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS HAS HAD TWO DOOR LATCHES/LOCK FAIL. THE LATEST ONE HAPPENED LAST WEEK. IT WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR THAT WONT CLOSE AT ALL. IT JUST SWINGS OPEN AND DOES NOT CLOSE NO MATTER WHAT. THIS HAPPENED TO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR ABOUT 10 MONTHS AGO TOO. BOTH HAVE HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT MY WORK PLACE. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IN MY CAR FOR SERVICE TO THE EARNHARDT FORD PHOENIX LOCATION, THE FORD EMPLOYEE WHO TOOK MY INFORMATION DOWN SAID THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIS SAME YEAR MODEL FOCUS. THE SECOND FORD EMPLOYEE WHO TOOK MY INFO DOWN LAST WEEK HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE WHILE MOVING/DRIVING A FRIENDS FORD FOCUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTIONED. THE DOOR WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED AND COULD NOT BE LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERNAL LATCH ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
POWER STEERING FAILURE, CAUSING THE CAR TO LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND WAS INITIALLY RESOLVED BY RESTARTING THE CAR. HOWEVER, A WEEK AFTER THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED (AND LESS THAN 50 DRIVING MILES LATER), THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER STEERING. THIS ALL STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AFTER AN UPDATE FOR A TRANSMISSION RECALL. ACCORDING THE FORD DEALERSHIP, A GEAR HAD BROKEN IN THE STEERING COLUMN RESULTING IN THE FAILURE. WHEN DISCUSSING THE ISSUE WITH A MECHANIC AT A DIFFERENT SHOP, HE SAID THAT TYPE OF DAMAGE TYPICALLY IS THE RESULT OF SIGNIFICANT CRASH FORCE. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. BARRING AN ACCIDENT, THE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT WAS MORE LIKELY THE RESULT OF A DEFECTIVE PART OR COMPONENT.
THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH FAILS TO CATCH WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR, EVEN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LOCK THE DOOR. AS A RESULT, THE DOOR DOES NOT SECURE AND SWINGS OPEN WHILE DRIVING, PARTICULARLY WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT, AND DOES NOT LOCK TO SECURE INTERIOR AND CONTENTS. THE FAILURE WAS FIRST DISCOVERED WHILE DRIVING. AS WE TURNED RIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION, AFTER HAVING COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE DRIVER'S DOOR FLEW OPEN, ALMOST STRIKING A CAR DRIVING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECT ON THE STREET WE TURNED ONTO, NARROWLY AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT.
