"TAKATA RECALL"MY 2013 FORD FOCUS AT 75,000 MILES THE CAR (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) WOULD SHUDDER WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND EVENTUALLY PROGRESSED TO RAPIDLY SLIPPING OUT OF ACCELERATION AND ACTING AS IF THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. FORD REPLACED THE CLUTCHES UNDER WARRANTY, PROBLEM SOLVED. AT 150,900 THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND FORD REPORTED TO ME THAT A $900 MODULATOR SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM AND MAYBE THE CLUTCH WOULD AGAIN NEED TO REPLACED. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THIS COMMUTER CAR IS A GOOD CAR WITH A FAULTY WIDELY KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THAT WILL PROBABLY NOT BE FIXED BY REPLACING EXPENSIVE PARTS. FORD HAS STATED THAT IT WILL NOT HELP WITH ANY OF THE COST. THE DEALERSHIP THAT DOES ALL THE CARS MAINTENANCE WILL GIVE 10% OFF COST. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD RECTIFY THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND PROVIDE COMPENSATION!
I PURCHASED A FORD FOCUS IN 2013 AND CURRENTLY HAVE 28,300 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND IS DRIVEN SOLELY BY ME. HOWEVER, RECENTLY I HAD A MAJOR MECHANICAL PROBLEM THAT COULD VERY EASILY BE FATAL FOR ANY DRIVER. THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED AND LOCKED UP THE STEERING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. LUCKILY FOR ME I WAS WITHIN 10 FEET OF MY DRIVEWAY GOING ABOUT THREE MILES PER HOUR. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE THEY WANTED OVER TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE POWER STEERING. IF ANYONE IS DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS PROBLEM OCCURS, I BELIEVE THE PROBABILITY OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR FATALITY WOULD BE VERY HIGH. I WAS TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRONIC SO WHEN IT GOES, IT BECOMES UNSTEERABLE. ALARMINGLY, WHEN SPEAKING WITH DEALERSHIP AND THE FORD AREA REGIONAL MANAGER THEY DID NOT REGARD THIS AS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. IN FACT, THEY DID NOT BELIEVE THIS WAS A DEFECT AS IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTEE. I ASKED IF THIS WAS NOT DEFECTIVE, HOW COULD THIS OCCUR AT 28,300 MILES? THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS COULD HAPPEN IF IT WAS HIT BUT ADMITTED THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THIS. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THIS CAR HAS NOT EVEN RUN OVER A POT HOLE. SINCE NO ONE IS TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY, I NEED TO DOCUMENT THIS PROBLEM AS ONE THAT CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF NOT RECALLED OR CORRECTED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THIS IS A MUCH MORE SEVERE PROBLEM THAN THE AUTO PROBLEM A FEW YEARS BACK WHERE CARS WERE ACCIDENTALLY RUNNING PEOPLE OVER WHEN STARTING . THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IMAGINE YOUR FAMILY DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT SIXTY MILES AN HOUR AND THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS, I BELIEVE MORE PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS POSSIBILITY BEFORE THEY PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE. I FOR ONE WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED MINE!
2013 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RATTLING NOISES AND LEAKING FLUIDS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP, FOUR TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
"TAKATA RECALL": ABOUT ONE MONTH AGO THE HORN STARTED WORKING INTERMITTENTLY BEFORE CEASING TO WORK AT ALL. IT WILL NOT WORK WHERE THE CAR IS PARKED OR IN DRIVE. I BOUGHT THE CAR LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. IN GENERAL IT HAS HAD OTHER ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONICS IN THE CAR, ANYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH THE MEDIA SYSTEM (AUXILIARY, USB, SYNC AUDIO, ETC HAVE ALL STOPPED WORKING) SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN JUNE 2016. I CANNOT OBVIOUSLY HONK THE HORN WHILE DRIVING AND COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THE CAR HAS ~53000 MILES.
IN MOTION REAR BRAKE LIGHTS SOMETIMES DO NOT WORK. IN MOTION . TRUNK UNLATCHES UNINTENTIONALLY FORCING MYSELF TO STOP AND PULL OVER AND CLOSE THE TRUNK LID.IN BOTH SITUATIONS THE VEHICLE HAS WARNING THAT CORRECTLY WARNS OF THE OCCURRING ERROR. ON MORE THAN 3 OCCASIONS RECENTLY IN MARCH OF 2017.
POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT. HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF AND ON TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS OFTEN HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL TURN ON WITHOUT THE SWITCH BEING TURNED ON. THEY WILL STILL RUN EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION. THEY WILL NOT TURN ON AT OTHER TIMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN NEEDED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL FROZE AND WOULD NOT MOVE EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. FORTUNATELY I WAS STOPPED FOR THE SIGNAL. I HAD TO THINK ABOUT WHAT I WAS GOING TO DO ABOUT HOLDING UP TRAFFIC. FINALLY I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. I WAITED APPROX 10 TO 15 SECONDS. I ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR AND WHEN I STARTED I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. I THEN PROCEEDED DIRECTLY TO MY MECHANIC VERY CAREFULLY. HE TOLD ME WHAT HE THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING MECHANISM. I THEN WENT DIRECTLY TO THE FORD DEALER, EXPLAINED MY PROBLEM AND LEFT THE CAR. HE CONTACTED ME LATER , SAID HE HAD TO ORDER THE PART AND WOULD LET ME KNOW WHEN THE CAR WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP. THE COST? WOW. THE NAME OF THE PART WAS STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY, REPROGRAM SYSTEM WITH THE COMPUTER. SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THE TOTAL COST WAS $1,972.19.

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND OPERATED CORRECTLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC STEERING MOTOR BURNED OUT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,300. *CN
ABOUT 1 AM THIS MORNING I LEFT WORK AND STARTED DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH THE GAS GAUGE READING 44 MILES TO EMPTY. SINCE IT WAS RATHER LATE I DECIDED TO GO HOME AND JUST GET GAS IN THE MORNING BUT ABOUT HALFWAY HOME IT IT DROPPED ALL THE WAY FROM 44 DOWN TO 17 AND THEN ABOUT A MILE LATER RAN OUT OF GAS. THIS WAS AN ISSUE BUT NOT THE ONE I'M OVERLY CONCERNED ABOUT RIGHT NOW. I PLACED ON MY HAZARDS AND TRIED TO FLAG DOWN SOME HELP TO GET TO THE GAS STATION I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR PARKED IN A CURVE AND THOUGH I WAS OFF THE ROAD IT WASN'T BY MUCH SO I LEFT THE HAZARDS ON. WHEN I CAME BACK ROUGHLY AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. I GOT GAS INTO THE CAR AND GOT THE BATTERY JUMPED AND THEN STARTED THE VEHICLE WITH ONE MAJOR ISSUE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAD GONE COMPLETELY DARK SO THERE WAS NO WAY OF TELLING HOW FAST I WAS GOING NOR COULD I SEE HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE TANK OR ENGINE TEMPERATURE. THE OTHER ISSUE WAS THE TURN SIGNALS ALSO STOPPED WORKING. TODAY I CHECKED ALL THE FUSES AND WHEN I PULLED OUT THE ONE FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FINE BUT WHEN I PUT IT BACK IN EVERYTHING CAME BACK TO LIFE LIKE THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IT ALL WENT DARK AGAIN SO I WAS UNABLE TO USE MY TURN SIGNAL OR TELL HOW FAST I WAS GOING. ONCE AGAIN I JUST PULLED OUT THE SAME FUSE AND PUSH IT BACK IN AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THIS JUST SEEMS LIKE IT COULD BE A REAL DANGEROUS ISSUE AND AS I READ ONLINE THIS CAR SEEMS TO HAVE A PLETHORA OF THEM ALSO THE ISSUE WITH NOT GETTING AN ACCURATE READING OF HOW MUCH GAS IS IN YOUR TANK IS ALSO A PROBLEM. THE GENTLEMAN FROM THE STORE WHO HELPED ME PUT GAS IN THE CAR AND JUMP IT SAID HE HAS THE EXACT SAME MODEL FOR HIS WIFE AND THAT HE WAS TOLD WHEN SHE RAN OUT OF GAS IT WAS BECAUSE THE PLASTIC TANK MELTED AND CHANGE SHAPES ALLOWING INACCURATE READING OF THE AMOUNT OF FUEL LEFT
2013 FORD FOCUS POWER STEERING TOTALLY WENT OUT WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. CAR WOULD STILL STEER BUT TOOK A TREMENDOUS PHYSICAL EFFORT. DEALER DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY STEERING EPAS. FORD HAS RECALLED OTHER MODELS FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, BUT NOT THE FOCUS.
THE FUEL GAGE ON MY FORD FOCUS DOES NOT READ CORRECTLY. I'VE RAN OUT OF GAS MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE MILES TO E READ 40,72 AND EVEN 88. SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR THE GAS LIGHT NEVER COMES ON BEFORE I RUN OUT OF GAS. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A $90 FEE FOR THEM JUST TO ACCESS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE POSTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. IT DEFINITELY SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST. THIS PROBLEM ALONE HAS CAUSED ME TO CONSTANTLY USE ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE DUE TO RANDOMLY RUNNING OUT OF FUEL IN AREAS I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH, WHICH COULD DEFINITELY BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I'M NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE AT NIGHT ALONE BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE IF I'LL MAKE IT TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT RUNNING OUT OF GAS.
TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHIFTING INCORRECTLY UNTIL FINALLY LOSING ALL POWER LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE PASSING LANE GOING UPHILL ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED AFTER THE FORD DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION. REPLACEMENT OF TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE STILL HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE AND THE DEALER CURRENTLY DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AS THEY HOLD ONTO THE CAR FOR FURTHER TESTING. I'VE ALSO HAD THE POWER STEERING FAIL ON ME TWICE.
CAR FEELS LIKE IT SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AND ENGINE REVS. JERKS FORWARD WHEN GOING BACK INTO GEAR. HAD IT TO DEALER 2X IN 2 WEEKS. THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. GET THE CAR BACK AND DOES IT AGAIN. HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY TELL ME TO CONTACT SERVICE MGR AT THE DEALER. CAR FEELS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. HAPPENS ON THE HWY AND STREET DRIVING. IS RANDOM. BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A SALVAGE TITLE AND TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO CARUSO FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT (3500 CHERRY AVE, LONG BEACH, CA 90807, (562) 426-3301) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC REFUSED TO PERFORM THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST DUE THE VEHICLE HAVING A SALVAGE TITLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE, 2013 FORD FOCUS. I HAVE CONTACTED VARIOUS DEALERS IN MY LOCAL AREA, WHO HAVE GIVEN ME VARIOUS EXCUSES TO NOT FIX MY TRANSMISSION WHICH IS COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP DEPARTMENT, AND THEY ARE ADVISING ME THAT IT IS UP TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX OR NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO ASSIST ME IN GETTING THIS FIXED OR GETTING A RENTAL VEHICLE TO ALLOW FOR TRANSPORTATION DURING THE TIME THAT MY CAR IS GETTING SERVICED. THE TRANSMISSION IS BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE A YOUNG DAUGHTER AND HER SAFETY IS MY PRIMARY CONCERN. THE TRANSMISSION HAS STARTED TO SHUDDER AND STALL WHILE DRIVING. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL BE AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN WITHOUT THE HELP OF GETTING THIS REPAIRED IN A TIMELY MANNER. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE AUGUST. I HAD A DEALERSHIP IN LAS VEGAS (TEAM FORD) INFORM ME IN AUGUST AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WAS NOT NECESSARY AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE REPAIRED. I HAVE RECEIVED LESS THAN SUBPAR SERVICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND SKIPPED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (AUTONATION FORD WOLFCHASE, 7625 STAGE RD, MEMPHIS, TN 38133) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DIGITAL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2017, WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED GEARS AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THE MEDIAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE OCCUPANT SUSTAINED CUT AND BRUISES TO THE ARMS, AN ANKLE SPRAIN, AND BACK PAIN. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. THE TWO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
MY CAR HAS DIED IN POWER 2 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. ONCE BEFORE I KNEW ANYTHING IT BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND LURCH THEN WHILE GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, CAR DIES AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. SINCE I WAS GOING SO FAST AND I HAVE NO CONTROL I ALMOST GET HIT BY A LOG TRUCK. I GET CAR HOME TAKE TO FORD THEY REPAIR 1401'M AND 1402 M. THEN I GET IT "FIXED". CAR APPEARS TO RUN PROPERLY UNTIL I AM DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT THE SPEED OF 70. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS AND MY CAR [XXX] TO LURCH AND SHUDDER AGAIN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN POWER DIES AND I CANNOT CONTROL VEHICLE. I ALMOST GET HIT BY A SEMI TRUCK. I AM 3 MINS FROM HOME. I PULL TO SIDE FINALLY AND SIT. TRY TO START AND CAR WILL NOT START. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON IN BOTH INSTANCES AFTER IT OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING. *TR

UPON PULLING OUT ONTO HIGHWAY CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND WOULD NOT MOVE NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAD BEEN IN SERVICE AT FORD DEALER FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS TWICE BEFORE.
STEERING ASSIST CODE IS COMING ON AND OFF I LOSE STEERING WHILE I'M DRIVING AT ANY SPEED HWY RESIDENTIAL ECT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THEY OFFERED TO FIX FOR 2 GRAND BUT WEREN'T SURE IF ITS 100 PERCENT GOING TO FIX THE STEERING. SO I DRIVE IT HOME THE VIDE HAS BEEN COMING ON AN OFF ITS VERY UNSAFE I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND ITS NOT BEING CONSIDERED A SAFETY RECALL YET, THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE CODE SO WE'RE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL REPAIR REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REMEMBER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT PROPERLY WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH IMMENSE FORCE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER DID NOT INDICATE A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE IT STARTED EXHIBITING SOME MINOR SHUDDERING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. OVER TIME THIS SHUDDERING BECAME QUITE SEVERE AND WOULD SOMETIMES EVEN APPEAR WHEN ALREADY UP TO SPEED DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT A STEADY PACE OR WHEN ACCELERATING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE ETC. IT ALSO EXHIBITED SOME GRINDING NOISES AS WELL WHEN ACCELERATING. EVENTUALLY THIS SHUDDERING BECAME SO SEVERE IT WAS UN-BEARABLE AND AT APPROXIMATELY 67,000 MILESWE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DEFECTIVE SEALS ON THE INPUT SHAFT OF THE TRANSMISSION HAD CAUSED THE DCT GEARBOX OIL TO CONTAMINATE THE LININGS OF THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THE REMEDY WAS TO REPLACE THESE SEALS AND THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WITH UPDATED ITEMS. THIS REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AT A COST TO US OF JUST UNDER $1600.00

(HOWEVER, THE REPAIRS THE DEALER WANTED ME TO AGREE WITH NOW-THE EVAP CODE?- WERE JUST UNDER $2,000 AND DIDN'T ADDRESS THE STEERING CODE WARNING IN ANY WAY. FUEL TANK, LINES & PURGE VALVE? ALL IN NEED OF REPAIR 6 HOURS AFTER CAR WAS FIXED VIA A BRAND NEW BATTERY) I AM AT 103,000 MILES. I DROVE THE CAR THAT NIGHT FINE, THE NEXT DAY AND THEN AGAIN IT REPEATED THE STEERING WARNING AND SHUT DOWN WHILE IN MOTION ON A MAJOR FREEWAY THAT EVENING. FOUR TIMES LATER SINCE 11/29/16 I HAVE HAD THIS STEERING WARNING/SUBSEQUENT RESULTS OF ALMOST CRASHING. THIS IS THEE MOST UNSAFE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN ON AMERICAN ROADS TODAY. FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS, FIX THIS STEERING ISSUE ONCE AND FOR ALL. I WILL NEVER, EVER BUY OR DRIVE A FORD CAR AGAIN. *TR
