TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD FOUR TRANSMISSIONS AND THREE CLUTCHES REPLACED BY MOON FORD (5304 UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD IN MOON, PENNSYLVANIA), BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
MOON/SUNROOF SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING- NO VEHICLES, ROCKS OR OTHER OBSTRUCTIONS WERE NEAR
MY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IS BEGINNING TO MAKE NOISE. IT WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL AND CAUSE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE POWER STEERING MODULE. TO FIX IT, THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION AT CONSIDERABLE COST. I NOTICED THAT FORD RECALLED MORE EXPENSIVE MODELS FOR THE POWER STEERING. WHY WON'T THEY RECALL MY CAR?
AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN JUNE 2013, THE CAR WOULD STALL/JERK/GRIND WHEN TRYING TO TAKE OFF AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, OR JUST ACCELERATING TO INCREASE SPEED. HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE CLUTCH REPAIRED AND EVEN AFTER THIS WAS PERFORMED, IT STILL JERKS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. IN JANUARY 2016, HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO REPROGRAM THE PCM/TCM AND PERFORM CLUTCH WHICH WAS THE 15B22 SOFTWARE UPDATE ISSUED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. AFTER 36,000 MILES THE HORN STOPPED WORKING. AFTER 65,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, WAS TOLD IT HAD A CODE P0456 WHICH IS A SMALL EVAP LEAK PRESENT. SINCE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY, I HAVE TO PAY $119 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 16S30 WHICH STATES IT MAY BE POSSIBLE THAT MY SIDE DOOR LATCH MAY BREAK, WHICH MAY MAKE THE DOOR DIFFICULT TO LATCH. ALL THIS ON A VEHICLE THAT IS UNDER 100,000 MILES AND ALMOST 4 YEARS OLD.
THIS CAR EXPERIENCES SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER LEADING TO THE INABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR EVEN MOVE THE VEHICLE FOR VARYING LENGTHS OF TIME. THIS IS LEFT ME STRANDED IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS THREE TIMES. TWICE I WAS IN TRAFFIC (COMING OFF THE I-95 NORTH AND NEEDING TO MERGE MY EXIT, THEN WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN A LEFT TURN LANE) . MOST RECENTLY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START UP AFTER BEING IN A PARKED. IN THE LATTER EPISODE JUMP-STARTS DID NOT HELP. WHILE THE DASH LIGHTS EVENTUALLY CAME ON, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ABLE TO MOVE ONE TO TWO TIMES AND THEN DIED, THE ENGINE SIMPLY WOULD NOT TURN OVER. INITIAL EVALUATIONS BY THE DEALER FOR AN ENGINE LIGHT GAVE AN "OVERSPEED CODE" WHICH WAS NOT RELEVANT TO DRIVING CONDITIONS.
WHILE DRIVING A LOUD STATIC AND POPPING NOISE STARTED HAPPENING COMING FROM THE SPEAKERS. IT STARTLED ME AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT WAS SO LOUD AND HURT MY EARS AND MY CHILD'S EARS. WHEN I PULLED OVER I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE RADIO BUT THE NOISE KEPT ON GOING. I THEN TURNED THE CAR OFF AND IT WAS STILL MAKING THE LOUD NOISES. WE GOT OUT THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS VERY LOUD AND OVER WHELMING AND WAITED UNTIL IT STOPPED. WHEN WE GOT BACK IN AND I STARTED THE CAR UP THE RADIO SEEM TO BE FINE. I WAS WRONG. IT HAPPEN AGAIN THIS TIME I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND HAD TO OPEN THE DOOR AND WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP IT WAS FINE. THE RADIO KEPT DOING THIS AND THE LOUD NOISES ARE VERY SCARY AND COULD CAUSE SOME ONE TO BE STARTLED WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR FOR THOSE OF US THAT MAY HAVE SOMEONE WITH A DISABILITY LIKE AUTISM THAT LOUD NOISES CAN HAVE A NEGATIVE AFFECT / REACTION ON IS NOT HEALTHY. THERE ARE SEVERAL VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET THAT WILL SHOW THIS IS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL PEOPLE AND FORD ISN'T DOING ANYTHING BUT FORCING US TO PAY TO HAVE THE WHOLE HEAD UNIT REPLACED AND WE CANT AFFORD THAT. THEY SHOULD CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AS LOUD AS THE STATIC AND POPPING GETS PLUS IT KEEPS GOING EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS OFF. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE PLACE WHERE I GOT MY CAR TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE AND THEY SAY I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT TO BE REPLACED AND I DONT HAVE MONEY TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE IT FIXED.
WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER BEING COMPLETELY STOPPED VEHICLE HAS A DELAYED ACCELERATION. AT TIMES WHEN I AM COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD LIKE I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS. I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE RECALL AND ITS NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM AND NOW FORD IS REFUSING TO FIX UNDER THE RECALLS EXTENDED WARRANTY. I AM WORRIED THAT I MAY HIT SOMEONE WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE AND THE CAR JERKS FORWARD OR SOMEONE MAY HIT ME WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WILL NOT GO.
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT .THE CAR GAVE ME ABOUT A 60 SECOND WINDOW TO ACT ON IT. THE MESSAGE SAID "TRANSMISSION FAULT ACT NOW" THEN WENT OUT ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD
AS I WAS WAITING FOR LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AT A BUSY INTERSECTION MY CAR STALLS. IT WAS ACTING AS IF I HAD PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND ACCELERATE THE GAS. ON MY DASH BOARD I NOTICE THE SYMBOL AS IF MY TRACTION WAS ON. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND TRIES TO RESTART IT. IT WILL NOT TURN OVER. NOT EVEN MAKING A SOUND. MIND YOU I AM AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY.
CAR CANNOT ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE PROPERLY. THE CAR HAS HAD THREE CLUTCHES AND TWO TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULES, AND STILL EXHIBITS THE SAME DANGEROUS CHARACTERISTICS. IT HESITATES ON TAKE OFF, WILL ACCELERATE IN THE WRONG DIRECTION (GO FORWARD IN REVERSE AND VICE VERSA) . THE RPMS WILL RANDOMLY SHOOT UP TO 4 OR 5K WHILE DRIVING, OR YOU CAN LOOSE SPEED WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE HAD THE POWER TO THE CAR FAIL WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING ON A CITY STREET. IT IS ESPECIALLY BAD ON HILLS AND AT STOP SIGNS/LIGHTS. IT SHAKES AND SHUDDERS AT LOW SPEEDS. HAS BEEN TO DEALER ALMOST A DOZEN TIMES, ALL UNDER "WARRANTY" FOR A FLAWED TRANSMISSION DESIGN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AND SHUTTERED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BUCKLE RECEIVER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE PENNSKY FORD DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY DUE TO THE LIMITED NUMBER OF PARTS RECEIVED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH, THE TRUNK OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AT PHONE NUMBER: 323-838-6920 AND STATED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO GO TO THE DEALER FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
VEHICLE IS BACK AT DEALERSHIP FOR 5TH TIME FOR CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE CLUTCHES HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND THE CURRENT FAILURE IS AN ACM MODULE. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THEIR IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX FOR THE ISSUES THAT HAVE PLAGUED THIS VEHICLE. THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT IN DRIVE THRU LANE. WAS ABLE TO RESTART BUT WARNING LIGHTS TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION CAME ON IMMEDIATELY.
THERE IS A GROUP OF ELECTRICAL CABLES IN THE TRUNK OF THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT CONTROLS ALL THE LIGHTS THAT ARE ATTACHED TO THE TRUNK LID. THIS INCLUDES THE BRAKE LIGHTS. WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING THE TRUNK, THIS GROUP OF CABLES RUBS UP AGAINST A METAL BAR. EVENTUALLY THIS CAN CAUSE THE ELECTRICAL CABLES TO LOSE THEIR PROTECTIVE TAPE AND POSSIBLY CUT THE CABLES, LEADING TO A COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKE LIGHTS, REVERSE LIGHTS, AND TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS. THEY HAVE MADE OBTAINING APPOINTMENTS TO FIX OTHER RECALLS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND IT ALMOST SEEMS LIKE THEY WISH TO IGNORE NHTSA RECALLS INSTEAD OF MAKING VEHICLES SAFE.
ENGINE STOPS AT DRIVING SPEED, RENDERING THE STEERING VERY DIFFICULT. THE DEALER MECHANIC SAID THE FUEL TANK COLLAPSED AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR . SOMEHOW THIS IS NOT DEEMED BY FORD A SAFETY ISSUE.
WIRES IN THE REAR RIGHT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT HAVE BECOME EXPOSED AND/OR BROKEN FROM REGULAR OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID. THE WIRES ARE RESTRICTED IN MOTION SUCH THAT THEY BEND WITH EVERY OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT. THIS LEAD TO A BREAKING OF WIRES WHICH CAUSED THE TRUNK LIGHT AND OPENING MECHANISM TO FAIL. EXPOSED WIRES CAN LEAD TO MANY MORE PROBLEMS LIKE SHORTING THE BATTERY OR AN ELECTRICAL FIRE.
DRIVER'S DOOR WON'T LATCH. USED THE CAR NORMALLY THE PREVIOUS DAY. CAR PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, AND WHEN I GOT IN TO DRIVE, THE DOOR WOULDN'T SHUT, WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE.
AS I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND BEGAN DRIVING UP THE STREET, I REALIZED MY DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT ALL THE WAY, AND THE DASH SAID "DOOR AJAR." OF COURSE I IMMEDIATELY PARKED THE CAR AND CAN'T DRIVE IT NOW. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. AFTER RESEARCHING POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH MANY OTHER DRIVER DOORS NOT LATCHING IN 2013 FORD FOCUSES.
AFTER TAKING MY CAR INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION TROUBLE SHOOTED. THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO REPAIR THE JERKING THE TRANSMISSION DOES DURING THE COURSE OF OPERATION. ALSO I WAS TOLD I HAVE A RECALL ON LATCHES THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS FOR TO PREFORM THE RECALL.
SHUDDERING RESUMED AGAIN DURING CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING BETWEEN GEAR SHIFTS. THIS WAS THE SECOND PROBLEM OF THIS TYPE. IT WAS A CONSTANT CONCERN IF I WOULD GET TO MY DESTINATION AND BACK HOME SAFELY WITHOUT BEING STRANDED ALONG THE ROADWAY. WHEN I GOT BACK HOME, I CALLED THE DEALER, PARKWAY FORD IN WINSTON SALEM, NC TO SCHEDULE CONSULTATION FOR THEM TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. I BEGAN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE FORD DPS6 TRANSMISSION AND FOUND THERE HAD BEEN SOME PROBLEMS. DURING THE CONSULT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CLUTCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THIS IS SEVEN MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST CLUTCH REPLACEMENT. THE SERVICE CONSULTANT ASSURED ME THAT THIS WAS A NEW TYPE OF CLUTCH AND I WOULD NOT BE HAVING ANY MORE OF THESE PROBLEMS. I AM REPRESENTED BY STERN LAW OF NOVI, MICHIGAN IN A MASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY REGARDING THIS VEHICLE.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the trunk inadvertently opened. The contact stated that on several occasions the trunk failed to open as needed. The contact also stated that the vehicle occasionally stalled while stopped at a stop sign or red light. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the trunk was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was unknown.
VEHICLE SHUDDERS AT TAKE OFF OR WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN WHEN INITIALIZING GAS. ISSUE WAS FOUND TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH. SIMILAR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR HAVE BEEN GIVEN EXTENDED WARRANTY# 14M02 FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. MY VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE VIN#'S BEING COVERED. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE IS AFFECTING MORE VEHICLES THAN FORD REALIZES. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 65,369 MILES.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS STALLING A BIT AND/OR LOSING POWER. THE VERY NEXT DAY, I FILLED UP MY CAR W/ 11 OR 12 GALLONS OF GAS THEN MY ENGINE IMMEDIATELY HAD TROUBLE STARTING. I KNEW MY BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 3+ YEARS AND HAVE YET TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. IT TOOK 4 TRIES FOR MY ENGINE TO START THEN I DROVE TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE THAT WAS CONVENIENTLY ACROSS THE STREET AND THEY PERFORMED A BATTERY TEST. IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT MY BATTERY WAS LOW. THE STORE EMPLOYEE ALSO DID AN ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSTIC AND THE CODE P-1450 APPEARED, A PURGE VALVE MALFUNCTION. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO REPLACE MY BATTERY AT THE MOMENT AS I HAD CLASS TO ATTEND TO. AFTER CLASS, I DROVE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, RIATA FORD IN MANOR, TX, AND INFORMED THEM OF MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. THE SERVICE ADVISER PLUGGED IN THE COMPUTER CODE READER AND READ THE SAME P-1450 CODE AND DECIDED TO "CLEAR IT". HE ASKED ME IF I HAD RECENTLY FILLED UP THE CAR W/ GAS AND I SAID YES, JUST A FEW HOURS AGO. HE TOLD ME THE CODE HAS BEEN 'CLEARED" AND TO COME BACK IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. I THEN WENT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND PURCHASED AND INSTALLED A BRAND NEW BATTERY. THE CAR STILL DIDN'T SEEM TO DRIVE AT ITS 100% CAPABILITY AND SOMETIMES ALMOST STALLING OUT. A DAY OR TWO LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AGAIN AND I RETURN TO RIATA FORD. THEY PERFORM A FULL DIAGNOSTIC AND INFORM ME THAT THE PURGE VALVE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, CAUSING MY FUEL TANK TO COLLAPSE W/ FUEL PUMP DAMAGE. I WAS QUOTED A $2,000 REPAIR COST. I KNOW THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON THE SAME EXACT PART FOR THEIR FUSION MODELS AS WELL AS MERCURY MILANS. THERE IS ALSO A FLORIDA CLASS ACT LAWSUIT IN PROGRESS FOR THE SAME EXACT CAR PROBLEM. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT OPTIONS I MAY HAVE. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR TIME.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
MY 75 YEAR OLD MOTHER IN LAW WAS DRIVING THIS CAR (HER CAR) ON 4/4/17 IN BELLMEAD, TEXAS. SHE WAS HIT AT ABOUT 40 MPH IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE QUARTER PANEL/WHEEL AREA BY A 1998 HONDA SEDAN. SHE WAS DRIVING ON A PAVED FEEDER ROAD IN CLEAR SUN SHINY WEATHER. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE AXEL BREAKING AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SHE HIT HER HEAD IN THE ACCIDENT WHICH RESULTED IN HER DEATH A WEEK LATER DUE TO A STROKE CAUSED BY A LEFT HEMORRHAGIC STROKE (BRAIN BLEED). I CAN PROVIDE THE POLICE REPORT AND PHOTOS VIA PERSONAL EMAIL NOT THROUGH THIS PUBLIC FORUM.

THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY, FROM A STOP WHEN THE CAR IS ACCELERATING THERES A VERY DISTINCT STUTTERING WHERE THE CAR FEELS LIKE ITS BUCKING OR MOVING BACK AND FORTH AS IF IT CAN'T GET INTO GEAR. OCCASIONALLY THIS WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE THE CAR IS ABOUT TO STALL. WE'VE HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP FOR SERVICE FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE 3 TIMES (ABOUT TO BE A 4TH). WE WERE MOST RECENTLY IN LINCOLN CITY, OREGON AND TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC FROM A DEAD STOP, PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR MADE THE CAR LURCH AND DIDN'T OFFER US THE ABILITY TO MERGE SMOOTHLY, INSTEAD WE WERE UNSURE IF WE WERE GOING TO STALL OUT OR IF THE GEAR WOULD CATCH.

STALLED JUST AFTER TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION, ENGINE SIMPLY DID NOT SWITCH ON. ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT DRAINED BATTERY. INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE INDICATION / DISTANCE TO EMPTY, HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION.

I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP DUE TO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. THEY REPLACED MY CLUTCH UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PURGE VALVE WHICH IS CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL AND HAVE A ROUGH IDLE. FORD IS STATING THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER DOING RESEARCH IT APPEARS THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS PART. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART IN 2015 AND APPEARS THERE WAS OR IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS PROBLEM. YESTERDAY MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STALLED AND SHUT DOWN. THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES AND GAS PEDALS WOULD NOT WORK. THEN THE CAR WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SINCE THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE AS WELL AS A RECALL WAS DONE FOR THE SAME THING 2 YEARS AGO. FORD DOESNT SEEM TO BE WILLING TO HELP OTHER THEN CHARGE ME $2,000 TO FIX THEIR PROBLEM.

I'M CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE SHIFTING OF GEARS. IT FEELS LIKE A MILD CASE OF WHIPLASH WHEN IT HAPPENS. OVER THE PAST 1 + YEARS MY RADIO WOULD RANDOMLY MAKE A HISSING AND CRACKING SOUND FOLLOWED BY A LOUD POP AND STOP WORKING. BOTH THE RADIO AND BLUE TOOTH CAPABILITIES WERE DISABLED. AS PER THE FORD SYNC WEB SITE, I USED WELL ABOVE THE MINIMUMS STORAGE (2GB) AND HAD A PROPERLY FORMATTED USB DEVICE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE THE DEVICE FOR AN UPDATE. YESTERDAY THE RADIO COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD CONTINUE TO HISS AND CRACK, EVEN WITH THE CAR TURNED OFF AND KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TRIED TO RESET THE RADIO, BUT IT IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING AND HAVE NO BLUE TOOTH CAPABILITY.
MY TEENAGE SON WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEED (BELOW 20MPH) IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IN A BUSY CITY SHOPPING AREA, THE STEERING SUDDENLY LOCKED AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER LEFT OR RIGHT. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT WITH TREMENDOUS EFFORT. WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT THE CAR SEEMED TO LOCK OR GRAB AT THE WHEEL AND MADE AN AWFUL SCREECHING SOUND. HE SAID THAT SEVERAL WARNINGS FLASHED ON THE MESSAGE CENTER BUT HE DID NOT CATCH THEM AS HE WAS TRYING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC SAFELY. ONCE HE CAME TO A STOP, HE NOTICED THAT THE ORANGE "I" IN A BOX REMAINED LIT WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING. I WENT TO PICK HIM UP AND VERIFIED THE LOCKED STEERING, NOISE, AND WARNING LIGHT. WE LEFT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND RESEARCHED POTENTIAL PROBLEMS BEFORE HAVING IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC. I CAME ACROSS SEVERAL FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS THAT SOUNDED VERY SIMILAR TO MY CAR'S ISSUES. MANY OF THESE CARS HAD WORKED AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING. SO THE NEXT DAY I WENT AND STARTED THE CAR WITH NO ISSUES AND HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS. HOWEVER, AS I PULLED OUT THE STEERING WAS STILL VERY TIGHT AND JERKY BUT I WAS ABLE TO MAN-HANDLE THE CAR ENOUGH TO MAKE IT TO A LOCAL DEALER. NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON THIS TIME. I WAS INFORMED THAT I MUST REPLACE THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE AND HAVE IT REPROGRAMMED TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS THE ONLY PROBLEM AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $450. I HAVE AUTHORIZED THIS REPAIR. THE DEALER SAID THAT AFTER THIS REPAIR, I MAY ALSO NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR AND HAVE THE CAR ALIGNED AT AN ADDITIONAL COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1500. MY CAR IS AT 89,700 MILES.

I'VE RESEARCHED AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE RADIO HEAD IS BAD. WHILE DRIVING, THERE IS A RIDICULOUSLY LOUD STATIC NOISE THAT PULSES AT ANY GIVEN TIME. EVEN WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION OFF, IT STILL STATICS LOUDLY - YOU CAN HEAR IT WHILE WALKING AWAY AND THE WINDOWS ARE UP

THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT USED WITH APPROX 96,000 MILES.

RECEIVED ONE CALL FROM AKINS FORD LETTING ME KNOW THEY WERE SHORT ON PARTS AND THEY HAVEN'T COME ACROSS ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY THAT WERE FIXED AND I WOULD BE CALLED WHEN A OPENING WAS AVAILABLE FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE FIXED. LUCKY IT WAS VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC. UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, MY WIFE MAY HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED OR WORSE. THESE 2011 - CURRENT YEAR FORD FOCUS AND FIESTA ARE A DANGER ON OUR ROADS, FORD MUST BE MADE TO RECALL THESE DEATH TRAPS.
