THE CLUTCH ON THE CAR IS VERY JERKY AND DELAYED ACCELERATION. SEEMS AS IF THE CLUTCH IS SLIPPING WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH...BUT I'M STILL HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS "NEW" CLUTCH.
I PURCHASED MY USED 2013 FORD FOCUS IN 2015 WITH NO NOTICE OF THE POTENTIAL CLUTCH/POWERSHIFT RECALL BY THE DEALER. IN DECEMBER I RECEIVED THE NOTICE OF RECALL AND BROUGHT IT TO A DEALER. THEY RAN THE SOFTWARE FIX. IT DID NOT FIX THE CLUTCH SHUDDER, HOWEVER THEY REMOVED THE OPEN RECALL OFF OF THE SAFERCAR.GOV SITE DESPITE MY RESERVATIONS. THE DEALER WAS UNCONCERNED, BUT TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE AT LEAST 6-8 WEEKS TO GET A NEW CLUTCH AND THAT THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SHUDDER HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT THE CAR IS NEARLY UN-DRIVEABLE AND UNSAFE WHEN I DO DRIVE IT TO WORK. IT SHUDDERS AND WON'T UPSHIFT AND WON'T ACCELERATE WHICH IS VERY PROBLEMATIC WHEN ONE IS TRYING TO DRIVE IN TRAFFIC AND AVOID HURTING ONESELF, OTHER DRIVERS, OR PEDESTRIANS. I TOOK MY COMPLAINT TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS I WANTED A LOANER CAR OR SOMETHING UNTIL THEY COULD FIX MY CAR, HOWEVER THEY HAVE ONLY GIVEN ME A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOW NO ESTIMATED DATE TO GET A NEW CLUTCH FOR MY CAR. I AM NOW FORCED TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE CAR AS THEY ARE UNWILLING AND UNABLE TO FIX MY CAR OR FIND ANOTHER SOLUTION FOR ME.
CAR MAKES NOISE. CAR SLUGGISH WHEN I GIVE GASOLINE. WENT TO DEALER ABOUT 5 TIMES BEFORE DEALER DECIDED I HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. DEALER TOLD ME WOULD ONLY REPAIR TRANSMISSION. WAITED FOR PART. WENT BACK TO DEALER TO SAY CAR ALMOST STALLED. WAS APPLYING BRAKES AT THE TIME ON HIGHWAY. OUT OF CONCERN FOR CONDITION CAR WAS IN, HAD CAR ON CRUISE CONTROL TO LIMIT SUDDEN APPLICATION OF GAS OR BRAKE. WAS ON ROAD FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES ON HIGHWAY. I WORRIED CAR WOULD STALL AND CAUSE ACCIDENT. DEALER LATER SAID MACHINE REVIEW OF MY CAR SAYS IT WAS DRIVABLE. ADVISED DEALER IF IT ALMOST STALLS, IT MAY STALL. DEALER SAID: I WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR PART. IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 MONTHS, PART NOT AT DEALER. LATEST IS THAT FORD CORPORATION ADVISED ME PART WAS SENT 8 DAYS AGO. DEALER DOES NOT HAVE PART. LAST 3 DAYS DEALER DOES NOT CALL BACK AFTER I LEFT MESSAGES TO TELL ME STATUS OF PART. CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, NEED TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCE, BUT I DO NOT WANT TO RISK IT. WAITED FOR PART SINCE 12/6/2015. DANGEROUS HIGHWAY INCIDENT WAS 1/1/2016
WHEN I STOP AT STOP LIGHTS THE ENGINE VIBRATES AND STOPS WHEN I COME TO A STOP AT TIMES. ALSO THE ENGINE VIBRATES WHEN I CONTINUE TO DRIVE AND ALSO SOMETIMES THE ENGINE CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS REALLY DANGEROUS AND CAN ALSO RESULT IN A CRASH. I JUST WANT FORD DO A RECALL AND FIX EVERYBODY'S CARS SO IT WANT BE FATALITY.

THE CAR JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT DID NOT START AGAIN. I HAD TO BE TOWED. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND IT JUST STALLED AND DID NOT START UP AGAIN. IT WAS ON A BUSY STREET. THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, IT WAS VERY SCARY AS THERE WERE A LOT OF CARS ON THE ROAD SINCE I TEAS THANKSGIVING DAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CONTACT WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED AND RE-CALIBRATED THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000. CAR VIOLENTLY STUTTERS AND SHAKES ON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP OR AT LOW SPEEDS. NO ACCELERATION WHEN GOING UP A HILL. CAR WAS SERVICED, BUT THE PROBLEM WASN'T FIXED. PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR DIED AND A LIGHT SAYING THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAME ON. THE ENTIRE TCM WAS REPLACED AFTER TOWING INTO THE DEALER. SHAKING ONLY GOT WORSE. NOW THE RPMS WILL JUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS EVEN IN CRUISE CONTROL. PARTS STILL ON BACK ORDER. FORD SAYS THAT THIS IS "NORMAL" FOR THIS CAR AND THERE IS NO REAL FIX. THE ONLY FIX IS TO CONSTANTLY HAVE IT SERVICED BUT EVEN THAT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
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
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR OF MY 2013 FORD FOCUS HAVE SWUNG OPEN WHILST DRIVING DUE TO A FAULTY DOOR LATCH. IT OCCURS AFTER I HAVE CLOSED THE DOOR FULLY WITH NO HAZARD LIGHTS ON THE DASH TO WARN OF ANY PROBLEMS, SUCH AS THE DOOR AJAR MESSAGE. DUE TO THE FORCES OF TURNING THE VEHICLE AND OR SIMPLY DRIVING THE DOOR FLIES OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY HARM THE PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE. NOT TO MENTION OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS MY DOOR COULD HIT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, EACH TIME IT LEAVES MY VEHICLE IMMOBILE DUE TO THE DOOR CHRONICALLY REFUSING TO LATCH. THIS IS A TWO YEAR OLD VEHICLE. IT IS FRANKLY UNACCEPTABLE THAT THIS ABSURD A PROBLEM SHOULD PERSIST TO ENDANGER MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS. I AM SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORDS QUALITY, NOT TO MENTION UTTER LACK OF CONCERN FOR ITS CUSTOMERS SAFETY.
THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE DPS6 CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE WILL LAUNCH IN AND OUT OF GEAR WHILE STANDING OR MOVING. CLUTCH WILL ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE AT WILL. VEHICLE WILL HAVE COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STARTING OUT FROM A STOP RESULTING IN SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. CLUTCH WILL SHUDDER AT PULL OUT AND BETWEEN GEARS AND YOU NEVER KNOW IF IT WILL ENGAGE OR NOT. THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST DANGEROUS CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. YOU NEVER FEEL SAFE AND EVERY TRIP COULD BE YOUR LAST. FORD HAS BEEN SUED OVER THIS(AND LOST) AND STILL WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE CARS. EVERY VEHICLE WITH THIS CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION CAN BE FIXED...FORD HAS THE NEW CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION, WE JUST NEED THEM TO STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL/REPURCHASE THESE DEATH TRAPS.
THE CAR SHIFTS ROUGHLY FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR WHILE IN MOTION. IT SHUDDERS AND JERKS WHILE TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC. IT ALSO HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT INTO THE FORD DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A TYPICAL PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR AND CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER WHO IS A NEW DRIVER, BASED ON ITS SAFETY RATING AND AFTER OWNING IT FOR ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS AM NOW FACED WITH THIS ISSUE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT AFFECTS ENTERING INTO TRAFFIC WITH A SHIFTING PROBLEM.
ON 10 NOV 15 AT 0900HRS I PICKED UP MY 2013 FORD FOCUS AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF AN IGNITION COIL/SPARK PLUG AND THE REPROGRAMMING OF MY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (FORD RECALL 15B22). AT 0930HRS WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON HWY 295 AT ABOUT 40 MPH ON A STRAIGHT PORTION OF THE HIGHWAY, ALL MY WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON AND I LOST ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE ALSO FELT AS IF IT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. I HAD TO USE EMERGENCY DRIVING PROCEDURES TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT THE STARTER DID NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO TURN OVER. I CALLED FOR A WRECKER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED AM ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION FAILURE LIKE THIS IN THE PAST. I BELIEVE THAT IT MAY BE DUE TO THE REPROGRAMMING OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE FORD FOCUS IN QUESTION IS A CANADIAN VERSION, WITH 62000KM/38000MILES TO DATE. I FELT COMPELLED TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT AS IT REQUIRED ME TO USE EMERGENCY DRIVING TECHNIQUES TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP (ALTHOUGH THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO FUNCTION). HAD I NOT BEEN TRAINED IN THOSE TECHNIQUES THE LIKELIHOOD OF A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AT HIGH SPEEDS WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKELY.
PURCHASED 2013 FORD FOCUS 11/8/15 USED. 56K MILES. DROVE TWO DAYS THEN SHUTTERING PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION. BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER. DEALER WILL REPLACE CLUTCH. TAKES 4-6 WEEKS FOR PART. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE ACCELERATING ON TO HIGHWAY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WEBB FORD (219-924-3400, LOCATED AT 9809 INDIANAPOLIS BLVD, HIGHLAND, IN 46322), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK LATER. A WEEK LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS WAITING TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED.
THE CAR SHUDDERS - AND IS WORSENING AND WILL SOON BE INOPERABLE - VERY DANGEROUS. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW CLUTCH BUT IT WOULD BE 3 MONTHS OR LONGER AS THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK. FORD ISSUED AN FSA AND THAT IS 14M01. DO THEY EXPECT ME NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBUS GA IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A FORD BEFORE. BUT DOING THE TEST DRIVE THE CAR WOULD ROLL BACK ON HILLS, AND IT ALSO DID IT AFTER PARKING WITH THE CAR IN GEAR AND SWITCHED OFF. THE SALESMAN EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE CAR TO ROLL BACK AND WE SHOULD ALWAYS USE THE PARK BRAKE, ON TAKE OFF THE CARS TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP AND WAS SLOW TO CHANGE GEARS HE SAID IT WAS NORMAL WITH ALL SMALL CARS. WE PURCHASED THE CAR WITH JUST OVER 19000 MILES ON IT. THREE MONTHS LATER I CALLED THE SERVICE SHOP ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE CAR STARTED SLIPPING AT THE TRANSMISSION AND WE FOUND OUT THERE WERE ELECTRICAL RECALLS ON THE CAR AND WARRANTY CALL BACKS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER NOT GETTING A CALL BACK BECAUSE THEY WERE BACKED UP. I CALL BACK TWO WEEKS AGO AND TOLD THEM THAT THE CAR STALLED WITH ME AND MY GRANDKIDS WERE SITTING IN THE BACK. CARS HAD TO RUN OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID HITTING US FROM BEHIND RUNNING AT 50 MPH PLUS THIS WAS VERY SCARY. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WANTED ALL CARS WITH THAT PROBLEM BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE RIGHT AWAY, THEN L WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE AFTER DECEMBER 2015 BEFORE THEY COULD GET TO ME BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY BACKED UP ON CARS WITH THOSE PROBLEMS. WERE ARE PAYING FOR A CAR THAT HAS BEEN SITTING. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR OVER A YEAR AND DRIVEN IT ONLY 6000 MILES BECAUSE IT IS TO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR DROPS FROM 65 MPH TO 15 ON THE FREEWAY WITH CARS RUNNING AT HIGHER SPEEDS AROUND YOU THEY CALLED ME BACK AFTER I INFORMED THEM OF THIS . AFTER ONCE AGAIN NOT HEARING FROM THEM FOR TWO WEEKS I CALLED AND WAS GIVEN AND APPOINTMENT FOR 8:30 AM THE FOLLOWING MORNING. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STALLS AT 60 MPH THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON . I WAS ALSO TOLD THEY DON'T HAVE A LOANER CAR AND IF ITS WHAT THAT THINK IS WRONG IT COULD TAKE A MONTH . GUESS I WILL BE PAYING FOR A RENTAL.
MY CAR IS INVOLVED IN RECALL 14M01, THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 31100 MILE THE PROBLEM IS A POWER LOSE AND A SEVER VIBRATION WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED IN A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. THIS ISSUE IS GETTING WORST EVERY DAY AND THE CAR WAS FIXED 4 TIMES FOR TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS IN WHICH THE TCM WAS REPLACED, REPROGRAMMED, CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION OIL, THE GASKET AND CLUTCH, IN THE PAST THE SHUDDER WAS JUST IN LOW VELOCITY AND NOW THE SHUDDER AND POWER OF LOST IS AT ANY VELOCITY OR GEAR CHANGE. I BEEN INVOLVED TWO TIMES IN A SEVER RISK OF CRASH WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN A HIGHWAY @ AROUND 40 MILES SUDDENLY THE CAR IN FRONT STOPPED, I HAD TO CHANGE MY LINE TO NOT CRASH , I CHECK THE SIDE MIRROR, PUSH THE GAS CHANGE MY LINE AND THEN THE CAR DO NOT RESPONSE AND THE CAR BEHIND OF ME HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE AND ALMOST CRASH ON THE BACK OF MY CAR. MY CAR IS NOW AGAIN WITH A DEALER TO TRY TO FIX THE ISSUE BUT I CAN,T ACCEPT AGAIN A CHANGE OF THE TCM WHEN IT DIDN'T WORK IN THE LAST THREE TIMES. IF WE TAKE IN A CONTINUES TIME FRAME MY CAR WAS MORE THAN 5 MONTHS IN A FORD GARAGE. THE 2ND ISSUE IS AN EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF GASOLINE AND HIGH EMISSION OF CO MY CAR IS IN MEXICO CITY,IT'S TESTED EVERY 6 MONTHS TO CHECK THE GASES EMISSION IT DIDN'T PASS THE TEST 4 TIMES IN 7 MONTHS,THE DEALER TRIED TO FIX 4 TIMES TOO W/O ANSWER AS THE DIAGNOSTIC OF THE CAR WAS WRONG IN BOOTH ISSUE CASES (POWER LOSS-VIBRATION AND INEFFICIENT COMBUSTION) I REQUEST BY PHONE GET ALL THE INFORMATION TO THE DEALER IN REGARD OF THE TEST FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND CODES FROM THE IDS AND THEY SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY CAN'T BECAUSE IS CONFIDENTIAL" AND I SAY I'M THE OWNER AND DRIVER AN I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING BECAUSE I'M IN A RISK OF CRASH AND THEY CAN'T HIDE ME THIS INFORMATION I JUST CHECK THE TSB 15-0120 PROCEDURE IN YOUR WEB SITE TO KNOW WHAT THEY WILL DO AND THEY REFUSE MY REQUEST. *TR

THEN IT WOULD CATCH. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR A MONTH, IT WAS APPARENT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS HESITATING TRYING TO SHIFT AND MAKING NOISES. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IT STATED IT WAS CALLED SHUDDERING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER IT DEPENDED HOW FAST HE TOOK OFF FROM START AND IT WAS STANDARD FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THERE WAS A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, RECORDS INDICATED THE TRANSMISSION HAD ALREADY BEEN FIXED ON THE VEHICLE. *JB

THIS WAS AFTER MANY TRANSMISSION REPROGRAMMINGS AND A CLUTCH REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF THE SHUDDERING AND SHIFTING PROBLEMS.
PURCHASED VEHICLE OCT 2013 WITH LESS THAN 400 MILES, WITHIN A FEW DAYS I CALLED DEALER TO SAY I HEARD A GRINDING SHUTTERING NOISE COMING FROM TRANSMISSION TO BE INFORMED THAT WAS "NORMAL". CAR BEGAN TO GET LOUDER AND BEGAN HESITATION SO I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD COMPUTER NEEDED RECALIBRATED. RAN OK FOR AWHILE THEN BEGAN TO DO THE HESITATING AND SHUTTERING AGAIN. I WAS INFORMED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CLUTCH SEAL..TOOK IT IN FOR REPLACEMENT. RAN FINE FOR AWHILE BEGAN HESITATION AND SHUTTERING YET AGAIN AND HAD TO HAVE COMPUTER RECALIBRATED AGAIN. NOW WITH 28000 MILE IT HAS BEGAN TO SHIFT HARD, SHUDDER AND HESITATE YET AGAIN. SERVICE IS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY 11/14/15.
SINCE I TOOK THE CAR OFF THE LOT IT SHUDDERED WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. IT NEVER FELT COMPLETELY RIGHT BUT SINCE IT IS A NEW CAR I ASSUMED THAT'S HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO FEEL. WELL THE SHUDDERING PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE AND TURNED INTO GRINDING. I GOT NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CLEANED OUT THE SYSTEM CHECKED THE PLUGS NOTHING GOT BETTER. I TOOK IT IN A FEW TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINE AND THAT'S HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO DRIVE. WELL I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND THE CAR KEPT SLIPPING OUT OF FOURTH GEAR AND THEN IT COMPLETELY LOST POWER EVERY TIME I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE REVVED BUT THERE WAS NO POWER. THIS CAR IS LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD IT SHOULDN'T HAVE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON AND I COULDN'T EVEN GET ABOVE 30 MPH ON THE CAR. I PURCHASED MY FORD FOCUS 2013 TITANIUM FROM ROYAL OAK FORD IN MICHIGAN, IT WAS MADE TO ORDER. ALL OF ITS REGULAR MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED AT A CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP AND I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF IT. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE CLUTCH FROM THE START HOWEVER AND AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT ITS RELIABILITY, AND MY SAFETY. AFTER THE VIDEO, IN APRIL 2014 RUSS MILNE FORD REPROGRAMED THE PCM/TCM, REPLACED BOTH THE INNER INPUT SHAFT SEALS, AND CLEANED THE CLUTCH. THE ODOMETER WAS AT 29,209 DURING THIS SERVICE. IN OCTOBER 2015 I WAS LEAVING A MEETING IN DETROIT, MI WHERE MY CAR SHUT OFF MID-COMMUTE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CROWDED INTERSECTION. I PUT IT IN PARK, AND TRIED TO RESTART MY VEHICLE BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT EVEN TURN. AFTER A FEW MORE ATTEMPTS I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO PUSH IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH THE HELP OF BYSTANDERS. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO BOB MAXEY FORD WHERE AFTER EXPLAINING THE ISSUE TO A MECHANIC HE WAS ABLE TO GUESS WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND SAID IT WAS COMMON ON THE FORD FOCUS. THEY KEPT IT OVER THE WEEKEND TO REPROGRAM THE PCM/TCM, REPLACED BOTH THE INNER INPUT SHAFT SEALS, THE CLUTCH, AND A LEAKING BEARING. THE ODOMETER WAS AT 59,936 DURING THIS SERVICE. MY QUESTIONS TO FORD: IS THE NEW CLUTCH SITTING IN MY CAR ANY DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL? OR WILL THIS CLUTCH FAIL 30,000 MILES FROM NOW LIKE BEFORE? IF SO, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE? I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN 2014, FORD VALIDATED THE PROBLEM AND PUT A PART ON ORDER IN MAY OF 2015. IN OCTOBER OF 2015 THE PART WAS SCHEDULED TO BE PUT IN BUT THEY RAN OUT OF PARTS SO THE APPOINTMENT WAS POSTPONED. A WEEK OR SO LATER THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THESE ARE ALL KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO PLACE 50 PERCENT PRESSURE ON THE ACCLERATOR PEDAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,858.

DRIVING ON I80 WEST BOUND AND MY RPMS SHOT UP TO 5,000/6,000. I PROCEEDED TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS TO LET THE TRANSMISSION CATCH, HOWEVER, WHEN I PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE GAS MY RPMS SHOT UP AGAIN. MY TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY DIED. I HAD NO ABILITY TO MOVE FORWARD. I MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER FROM THE LEFT LANE. I SHUT MY CAR OFF ONCE I REACHED THE SHOULDER TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP THE PROBLEM. WHEN I TRIED TO START MY CAR IT WOULD NOT TURN ON. I HAD DASHBOARD LIGHTS BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. MY CAR ENDED UP BEING TOWED TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL FOCUSES COME IN WITH THIS PROBLEM IN THE LAST TWO TO THREE WEEKS, SO THEY ARE NOW KEEPING THIS PART STOCKED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION GIVEN THAT I80 IS A VERY BUSY EXPRESSWAY AND MY CAR DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT.
