STOPPED IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THE VEHICLE FLASHED A WARNING WHICH SAID "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" AND THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY. I LOST ALL POWER TO THE WHEELS AND LOST POWER STEERING, WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER, WHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT START. ALL WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED TO COME ON, INCLUDING SEATBELT, CHECK ENGINE, TRACTION CONTROL, ETC. THE CAR INDICATED IT WAS IN "DRIVE", IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT I HAD THE GEARSHIFT IN PARK. IT WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS OR ALLOW ME TO START THE ENGINE. AFTER SITTING FOR 30-40 MINUTES WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, THE CAR SUDDENLY APPEARED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. I DROVE HOME, AND 10 MINUTES LATER, WHILE PARALLEL PARKING, THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN: BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND ATTEMPTING TO PULL BACK OUT, GOING UPHILL, THE EXACT SAME SEQUENCE OF EVENTS OCCURRED ("HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE", LOSS OF POWER AND STEERING). THIS TIME THE VEHICLE COASTED BACKWARDS INTO ANOTHER CAR. NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE. THE 2013 FORD FOCUS CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO BE DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE READ MANY REPORTS ONLINE OF OTHER DRIVERS HAVING IDENTICAL OR VERY SIMILAR ISSUES WITH HILL START ASSIST/TRANSMISSION/TRACTION CONTROL ERRORS, LOSS OF POWER, LOSS OF POWER STEERING, AND INABILITY TO SHIFT GEARS OR RESTART THE CAR, WITH THIS ERROR SOMETIMES HAPPENING *WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS* RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. I FEEL LESS SAFE KNOWING THAT FORDS WITH THIS PROBLEM WAITING TO HAPPEN ARE BEING DRIVING EVERY DAY BY UNKNOWING DRIVERS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE OF THE HIGHEST MAGNITUDE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS THAT FORD HAS ISSUED NO RECALLS.
ON SEPTEMBER 2ND WHILE DRIVING TO WORK NEAR THE EXIT OF THE 22 FWY EASTBOUND THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING AND JOLTING SEVERELY WITH LOSS OF POWER. I WAS ABLE TO EXIT AND MANAGED TO DRIVE IN TO THE WORK PARKING LOT. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. HERE IS THE REPORT FROM THE DEALERSHIP: 15822 TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING FOR OVERT TCM FAILURE W. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW I TOLD CARUSO FORD IN LONG BEACH CA NOT LONG AFTER THAT CAR JERKS AND JOLTS THEN HESITATES, AND EVERY TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR MAINTENANCE THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATES, JOLTS AND JERKS AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THEY KEPT TELLING ME NOTHING WAS WRONG. THIS CAR HAS HAD A DEFECTIVE TCM MODULE SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. ON SEPTEMBER 2ND MY LIFE WAS ENDANGERED ON THE FWY DUE TO NEGLIGENCE BY BOTH FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND CARUSO FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS A DEFECTIVE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE. I BLAME CARUSO FORD MORE ON THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE FAILED TO LISTEN TO ME AND FAIL TO DO A PROPER INTERNAL CHECK WHICH PUT MY LIFE AT RISK. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED BY THE OTHER DEALERSHIP NEAR MY WORK WHERE IT WAS TOWED AT. I STILL DON'T KNOW IF THERE COULD BE A MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM WITHIN THE POWER TRAIN SYSTEM LATER ON..
I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, STOP AND START, AND WHEN I RE-ACCELERATED AFTER GOING VERY SLOWLY THE CAR DID NOT GO AND THEN IT JUST DIED. I TURNED CAR OFF, GOT IT STARTED WITHIN 200 YARDS IT DIED AGAIN. I ONCE AGAIN TURNED CAR OFF, RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. IN THE MEANTIME, PEOPLE BEHIND ME WERE HONKING WILDLY. LUCKILY, NO ONE REAR ENDED ME. I WAS ABLE TO GET CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THE FORD PEOPLE NEEDED TO LOOK AT IT. THIS MORNING THE CAR WAS TOWED AS IT NOW DOES NOT EVEN TURN ON. FORD PEOPLE SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT COULD BE. IF I HAD BEEN ON A HIGHWAY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC LIKE THAT I MIGHT HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT. FORD SEEMS TO BE UNAWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS. I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THEY SHOULD INVESTIGATE.
2013 FORD FOCUS WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED BUBBLES AFFECTING DRIVER AND PASSENGER VISIBILITY. BUBBLES PRESENT IN A EVENLY DISTRIBUTED PATTERN THROUGHOUT THE WINDSHIELD. BUBBLES ARE ROUGHLY 2-5MM IN DIAMETER. THE PRESENCE OF THE BUBBLES COULD AFFECT DRIVER VISIBILITY, WHICH COULD HAVE A DETRIMENTAL EFFECT ON THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE.
I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN A FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED FIVE TIMES. TWO INVOLVING RECALLS ON MY TRANSMISSION, DUE TO SHUTTERING AND HESITATION TO SHIFT WHILE DRIVING. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS HIGHLY UNSAFE SINCE I NEVER KNOW IF MY CAR WILL BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY WHILE CHANGING LANES. THIS HAPPENS MAINLY IN THE CITY STREETS WHEN BEING IN FIRST OR SECOND GEAR.
THE VEHICLE LOST TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT (SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN) WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE/CROSS THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION. THIS LEFT ME WITHOUT ANY POWER TO THE WHEELS AND NO WAY TO MOVE OUT OF THE PATH OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY QUICKLY SHIFTING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE FIXED THE PROBLEM AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION SAFELY. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SO I DO NOT DARE LET MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER DRIVE THE CAR. THE VEHICLE ALSO SHAKES AND SHUDDERS WHILE ACCELERATING AT LOW SPEEDS. FORD IS OFFERING TWO "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAMS" TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ONE IS 14M01 WHICH REPLACES FAULTY TRANSMISSION SEALS WHICH LEAK CAUSING FLUID CONTAMINATION TO THE CLUTCH. THE SECOND IS 14M02 WHICH REPLACES/REPROGRAMS THEIR FAULTY TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE). MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAVE A SALVAGE TITLE VEHICLE DUE TO COSMETIC DAMAGE TO BODY PANELS. AS SUCH, EVEN THOUGH FORD IS ACKNOWLEDGING THEIR TRANSMISSION SYSTEM IS FAULTY, THEY WON'T COVER THE COST TO REPAIR THEIR FAULTY TRANSMISSION SEALS AND CLUTCH (PROGRAM 14M01). THEY DID COVER THE COST FOR THE SECOND PROGRAM (14M02) AND REPLACED/REPROGRAMMED THE FAULTY TCM AT NO COST TO ME. BUT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I PERSONALLY HAVE BEEN IN VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS SEVERAL TIMES NOW BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL (NOT A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM"). FORD HAS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION SYSTEM WHICH IS CAUSING DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATIONS FOR DRIVERS. FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS. SO, TO KEEP FORD FROM SAVING A FEW BUCKS AT THE EXPENSE OF SOMEONE'S LIFE, BOTH OF THESE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAMS" SHOULD BE CONVERTED TO WHAT THEY REALLY ARE, A SAFETY RECALL, SO THAT FORD CAN NOT EXCLUDE BRANDED TITLE VEHICLES.
ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, CAR WILL NOT BACK UP, DRIVING CAR WILL HESITATE GOING FORWARD, AND SOMETIMES AS DRIVING HESITATES TO CHANGE GEARS. TOOK TO FORD THREE TIMES INCLUDING A FREE RECEIVING RECALL LETTER. HAD TO BUY A BATTERY FOR THEM TO CHECK CAR! NO PROBLEM STARTING EVER! IDLING CAR WILL CAUSE CAR TO HESITATE GOING WHILE DRIVING. RECALL WAS FOR A PART FOR TRANSMISSION, AND ASOFTWARE UPDATE PROGRAM 15B22
I PURCHASED MY USED 2013 FORD FOCUS ON AUGUST 4TH 2015. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOUR TIMES TO ADDRESS THE DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM BEING FAULTY. THE CAR WILL SHUTTER BETWEEN GEARS, STRUGGLE TO ACCELERATE, IT WILL ROLL BACKWARDS/FORWARDS AT STOPS WHILE THE CAR IS STILL IN DRIVE AND WHEN I AM GOING TO PARK. IT ALSO WILL REV UP RANDOMLY AND ALMOST LURCH FORWARD WHEN ITS TRYING TO SHIFT. I BRING THE CAR IN AND THEY "FIX" IT, WHEN I PICK IT UP FROM THE SHOP IT RUNS SMOOTHLY FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN.
SINCE WE BOUGHT OUR 2014 FORD FOCUS IT HAS HAD A "BUCKING"WITH THE TRANSMISSION ALSO WHEN I HAVE ACCELERATED HARD TO MOVE INTO TRAFFIC IT WILL ACT LIKE ITS IN NUETRAL THEN SLAM INTO GEAR WHEN WE TOOK OUR CAR IN FOR A RECAL IT WAS BROUGHT UP TO THE SERVICE CLERK AND WE WERE TOLD ITS WHAT THEY DO AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO OUR CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH YESTERDAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STARTED DE-ACCELERATING AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY I WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO THE MEDIAN. THE CAR WAS STILL ON AND ALL OF THE OTHER POWER WAS ON BUT WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS, NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. I HAD AN ERROR LIGHT POP UP THAT SAID "PARKING ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" AND THEN ANOTHER ONE ABOUT "HILL ASSISTANCE" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I HAD NOT ATTEMPTED TO USE EITHER OF THOSE FUNCTIONS. I TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON A BIT LATER I WAS ABLE TO GO ANOTHER MILE BACK TOWARDS HOME AND THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME SO I WAITED AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING (HAD TO STOP TWICE ON THE WAY HERE FOR THE SAME REASONS AS YESTERDAY). THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION MODULE HAS TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED IF THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE SERVICE PERSON SAID YES, IT IS AND THAT SOME PEOPLE RECEIVED RECALL LETTERS. I DID NOT RECEIVE ONE. IT'S GOING TO TAKE ABOUT A WEEK TO FIX AND IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. APPARENTLY FORD IS EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 100K BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT IN WRITING YET. THIS IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING AND SCARY. THIS CAR IS ONLY 2.5 YEARS OLD! WHEN I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND SAW THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT, I WAS SHOCKED AND DISMAYED. I'M WORRIED I'LL CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS AND THAT IT WILL HAVE NO RESALE VALUE.

THEY CHECKED TO SEE IF ANY RECALLS EXISTED FOR THE REPORTED PROBLEM AND WAS ADVISED THAT NONE EXISTED. THE DEALERSHIP THEN TOLD ME THAT IF I HAD ANY FUTURE PROBLEMS TO LET THEM KNOW.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM AND TCM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,968.
LAST NIGHT I HIT A DEER GOING 70 MILES PER HR. ON THE HIGHWAY. MY LEG AIRBAGS DEPLOYED BUT MY STEERING WHEEL DID NOT ONLY THE CLIPS CAME OUT. DUE TO KNEE AIRBAGS I HAVE HUGE BRUISES ON BOTH LEGS. I FEEL THAT THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG SINCE IT DID NOT DEPLOY. IF I HAD HIT A TREE INSTEAD OF A DEER ITS POSSIBLE I WOULD NOT BE HERE TO FILE THIS IT DID NOT PROTECT ME AT ALL.
DRIVING TO WORK TO THE PENTAGON, WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE SLIPPED THEN STUTTERED BEFORE MOVING UP A NOTCH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT INTO SERVICE. THEY LET ME KNOW THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO RELEARN MY DRIVING HABITS. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR ALMOST WEEK. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AND HOME ON 10 DAYS LATER THE ISSUE RE-OCCURRED. DRIVING IN DC ON A HIGHWAYS IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS AND DANGEROUS FOR ALL ON THE ROAD. IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT I WAS BY MYSELF AND NOT MY WHOLE FAMILY IN THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING CONTINUOUS AND PROGRESSIVELY WORSENING ISSUES WITH THE SHIFTING OF THIS CAR. LAST NIGHT AS I WAS LEAVING HOME AT LOW SPEED, THE CAR FELT LIKE IT CAME OUT OF GEAR...SEVERAL TIMES AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. I HAD TO TURN AROUND AND LUCKILY MADE IT HOME. OF COURSE, I COULD NOT ACCOMPLISH THE THINGS NEEDED TO DO. I HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER ONLY TO GET VAGUE INCOMPLETE ANSWERS IN THE PAST.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM, DRIVING THE CAR HOME FROM WORK THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND ALERT FLASHED SAYING THE STABILIZER CONTROL HAD A PROBLEM, THEN ANOTHER LIGHT FLASHED WITH AN EXCLAMATION MARK. THE ENGINE REVVED AND IT PICKED UP SPEED. I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND PUT IT IN PARK. THE SHIFT LEVER WAS IN PARK BUT THE DISPLAY SAID I WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THE CAR WOULD NOT RE-START. I HAD THE CALL EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR THREE WEEKS EARLIER ON JULY 22, 2015. WAITED TWO HOURS IN 100+ DEGREE HEAT FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT WAS THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. IN RESEARCHING THE CARS HISTORY I FOUND OUT THE CAR HAS HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM 3 TIMES. IT'S ONLY TWO YEARS OLD WITH 42,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. I STILL DON'T HAVE MY CAR BACK, (IT'S BEEN 10 DAYS NOW). I FEEL THIS IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND I WOULD PREFER TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RESOLVED NOT JUST CONSTANTLY REPAIRED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, THIS PROBLEM CAN RE-OCCUR AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
I WAS DRIVING AND OUT OF NO WHERE THE INFORMATION LIGHT CAME ON NOTIFY ME THAT THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 34,869 MILES ON JULY 8, 2015. AFTER HAVING FOR ABOUT A WEEK, NOTICED SHAKING, GRINDING NOISES, SEEMS TO BE "MISSING" IN THE TRANSMISSION. TOOK TO DEALER ON 7/21/2015 AND THE REPROGRAMMED THE TCM. VEHICLE STILL MADE SAME ISSUES SO I TOOK TO A DIFFERENT FORD DEALER 7/27/2015 AND THEY DID THE SAME THING. ON 8/13/15 THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE CAME OUT AND JUMPED THE VEHICLE TO START AND "FAULTY TRANSMISSION FAILURE" APPEARED ON THE DASH SCREEN. I ATTEMPTED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE. CALLED TOW TRUCK TO TAKE TO FORD DEALER THAT SAME DAY. THE NEXT DAY THEY CLAIMED IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. AS OF TODAY, 8/19/2015 - THE CAR IS STILL NOT FIXED AND IS STILL IN THEIR SHOP.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD FOCUS AND TWICE WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS THE TRANSMISSION HAS MALFUNCTIONED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT BOTH TIMES. THE CLUTCH WILL ENGAGE WHICH WILL DISCONNECT THE ENGINE FROM THE DRIVE-SHAFT. YOU HAVE NO POWER TO MOVE FORWARD AND THE CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN RAPIDLY. I HAD TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO THE FAR RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD BOTH TIMES. ONCE I HAD STOP, THE FOCUS WOULD WORK IN ONLY FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. IF YOU TRIED TO GET THE CAR TO GO INTO A HIGHER GEAR THE CLUTCH WOULD ENGAGE PREVENTING YOU TO MOVE FORWARD. THE FIRST TIME I HAD THE FOCUS REPAIRED, THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE SOFTWARE PROGRAM AND REPLACED THE ORIGINAL WITH A NEW SOFTWARE PROGRAM. UPON PICKING UP MY FOCUS AFTER THE FIRST REPAIRS, I ASKED THE FORD SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, WILL THIS FIX THE PROBLEM? HE WOULD NOT TELL ME THE CAR WAS FIXED, ONLY THAT THE REPAIRS WERE MADE TO FORDS SPECIFICATIONS. LESS THAN 30 DAYS LATER WHILE TRAVELING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, MY FOCUSS TRANSMISSION ONCE AGAIN MALFUNCTIONED WITH THE CLUTCH ENGAGING CAUSING THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. ONCE AGAIN I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD THROUGH THREE LANES OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE SECOND TIME THE DEALER SHIP REPAIRED THE FOCUS; THEY STATED THAT THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER AND THE SOFTWARE. WHEN I ASKED FOR THE SECOND TIME IS THE CAR IS FIXED, THEY WOULD NOT SAY THAT THE CARS TRANSMISSION WILL NOT MALFUNCTION AGAIN. WE I TOOK THE CAR BACK FOR THE SECOND TIME THE SERVICE REP INFORMED ME THAT THEIR DEALERSHIP HAD THREE OTHER FOCUSES THAT HAD TRANSMISSION FAILURES AND HAD THE SAME REPAIRS THAT MY FORD HAD THE FIRST TIME. THESE CARS ARE DEATH TRAPS AND FORD SHOULD HAVE A TOTAL RECALL ON THEM.

THIS IS PROBLEMATIC WHEN ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC, GOING UP HILL (WHICH IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE), AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE IN STOP-AND-GO HEAVY TRAFFIC. CAR IS SLOW TO ACCELERATE DUE TO DIFFICULTY SHIFTING. ONCE IT DOES, IT UNEXPECTEDLY SURGES FORWARD. BASED ON DISCUSSIONS WITH FORD DEALERSHIP TECHNICIANS AND NUMEROUS OTHER ONLINE COMPLAINTS, THE PROBLEM IS OBVIOUSLY THE NEW DCT TRANSMISSION. AS I WAS DRIVING EAST ON THE LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY PRIOR TO EXIT 41S THE CARS NOTIFICATION LIGHTS KICKED ON SEVERAL MESSAGES CAME UP WHICH INCLUDED REAR PARK ASSIST, HILL START ASSIST AS WELL AS BATTERY INDICATOR, OIL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, ETC. I ATTEMPTED TO PUSH ON THE GAS HOWEVER NOTHING OCCURRED I WAS COASTING AT 40 MPH I SIGNALED TO GET OVER INTO THE RIGHT LANE, I APPLIED THE BRAKE HOWEVER IT ALSO LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT BRAKE, I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED/SIDE SWIPED BY SEVERAL VEHICLES AS I WAS UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC AND BRAKE ACCORDINGLY. I GOT TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND HIT THE E-BRAKE TO STOP. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART HOWEVER THE ENGINE WOULD NOT KICK ON AND THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT WORK.

FIRST TIME MECHANIC (DON CHALMERS CAPITOL FORD) TOLD ME THAT THESE ISSUES WERE NORMAL, THAT ALL OF THESE CARS HAVE SHUTTERING ISSUES, WHICH TO ME WAS A FRIGHTENING STATEMENT. THEY ADDRESSED A14M01 TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SHUDDER AND INPUT SHAFT SEAL WARRANT (FSA). THE TOTAL BILL WAS $1,377.88. THIS TIME, I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY WORK AND DIAGNOSTICS. I STATED THAT I EXPERIENCED THE SAME EXACT SHUTTERING, SHIFTING ISSUES AND NOISES AS THE FIRST TIME AND WAS TOLD IT COULD BE ANYTHING. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR.

AS THE GENTLEMEN POURS GAS IN MY TANK THE GAS POURS RIGHT OUT. I CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP LOOKS AT MY VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY AND THEY SAY THE GAS TANKED WAS HIT BY SOMETHING ON THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING. I REPLY I DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING HIT MY CAR. THEY REQUEST MY INSURANCE INFO SO THEY CAN CALL TO FILE A COMP CLAIM. I SAY NO I WILL CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY MYSELF. MY INSURANCE ADJUSTER COMES OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT THE DAMAGE AND WHEN THE DEALERSHIP SHOWS HIM THE GAS TANK THEY SEE THAT THE GAS TANK IS DEFORMED AND THE FUEL PUMP IS FRIED. THE ADJUSTER SAYS THIS IS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM NOT A COMP CLAIM. THE DEALERSHIP DOES SOME FURTHER INVESTIGATING AND SAYS THAT THERE IS A SEAL THAT DID NOT CLOSE IN THE GAS TANK AFTER PUMPING GAS AND THE GAS TANK WAS SUCTION UPPED WITH THE PRESSURE WHILE DRIVING AND FRIED THE GAS PUMP. MY CONCERN IS THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND THE PEOPLE DRIVING AROUND ME. IF GAS WAS SPRAYING ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THE GAS TANK AND FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTIONS I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. MY SERVICE ADVISOR DID INFORM ME THAT THE FORD MODELS FIESTA, FOCUS AND F-150 HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES, BUT THE NEWER MODELS HAVE BEEN FIXED.
AS I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY DAUGHTER I HAD TURNED A CORNER GOING A LOW SPEED LIKE 10MPH AND THE STEER ASSIST FAULT WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AS I WAS TURNING AND I HAD TO FORCE MY CAR STRAIGHT. I MOVED OFF TO THE SIDE AND I WAS SO SCARED.MY DAUGHTER WHO IS AUTISTIC ALSO SAID MOMMY I'M SCARED. I HAD NO IDEA IF IT WAS SAFE TO TRY AND GET HOME OR IF I SHOULD SIT THERE.I AM SO FRUSTRATED THAT I BOUGHT THIS CAR TO REPLACE A CAR THAT HAD GONE OUT AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR 5 MONTHS. I'M EVEN MORE UPSET THAT I TRUSTED THAT THE 2013 FORD FOCUS WAS A STABLE CAR AND HERE I AM ABOUT TO HAVE TO SHELL OUT MONEY THAT I DON'T HAVE TO GET IT FIXED. I'M OUTRAGED THAT THIS TYPE OF THING IS HAPPENING TO MANY FORD OWNERS,AND I'M REGRETTING THAT I EVEN CHOSE THIS CAR. THEY BOAST ABOUT BEING AMERICAN MADE YET IT'S BAD QUALITY AMERICAN MADE. I ALSO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR JERKING AND SHAKING WHILE DRIVING OR STUTTERING. ALTHOUGH THIS IS EQUALLY DANGEROUS IT IS TOLERABLE. I HOPE THIS COMPANY MAKES IT RIGHT WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THINK OF OUR SAFETY BEFORE THEY KEEP MAKING THESE CARS.IM VERY DISAPPOINTED BEYOND WORDS. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR WHILE I WAS IN DANGEROUS TRAFFIC. THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED FUNCTIONING WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER. IT SCARES ME TO KNOW THIS COULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, DURING ANY DRIVING CONDITION. YET IT IS WHAT I OWN. I THOUGHT THE CAR HAD AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHEN I PURCHASED IT. I WAS WRONG IT IS AN AUTOMATED MANUAL. THIS OCCURRED AROUND 32K MILEAGE. THE DEALER FIXED IT, BUT WOULD REFUSED A REPAIR RECEIPT WHEN REQUESTED. I WAS LUCKY I WAS ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. HAD I KNOWN, I WOULD NEVER HAVE PURCHASED WITH MY LABOR.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME TIGHT, THEN A SLIGHT DRIFT TO THE LEFT. WHEN I TRIED TO BRING IT BACK TO THE CENTER THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE TO THE RIGHT. I NOTICED IF I TURN IT TO THE LEFT A LITTLE, WHICH COULD TAKE ME LEFT OF CENTER OF THE ROAD, I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND BRING THE CAR RIGHT AND BACK TO CENTER OF MY LANE. THIS WORSEN AS I GOT CLOSE TO HOME AS I BEGAN TO HEAR NOISES LIKE GRINDING FROM THE STEERING. BY DRIVING VERY SLOWLY WITH MY FLASHERS ON, GETTING OUT PERIODICALLY TO CHECK IF THE WHEEL WAS NOT FALLING OFF, I MANAGE TO GET HOME SAFELY.
I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR THE DAY IT FROM ENTERPRISE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS FROM FIRST AND SECOND JUNKS FORWARD WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE HAD IT AT FORD DEALER 4 TIMES IN A YEAR THEY TRIED TO FIX IT 3 TIMES BUT STILL DOING THE SAME THING NOW I HAVE TO WAIT 8/11 WEEKS FOR THEM TO FIX IT AGAIN,THESE CARS SHOULD BE,PULLED OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED AND YES FORD TELLS TO DRIVE IN BECAUSE,I HAVE FREE TOWING AND ENTERPRISE IS NO HELP EITHER THEY,TELL,ME THE SAME THING,SO I HAVE A CAR IN PAYING ON AND CAN'T DRIVE IT,BECAUSE NO WANTS TO HELP
WAS TAKING OFF FROM A STOP LIGH, VEHICLE SHUDDERED ENHINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES
WENT TO GET TIRES ROTATED. I WAS CALLED TO MY VEHICLE TO SHOW EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR ON REAR TIRES. ESPECIALLY RIGHT REAR .I WENT TO FORD DEALER AS THIS VEHICLE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY CHECKED AND SAID IT WAS WITIIN LIMITS. I WAS TO ROTATE MORE OFTEN. I ROTATE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE AND ALSO RUN NITROGEN IN MY TIRES FOR SAFETY AND EXTENDED TIRE LIFE. I TOOK A TRIP AND WAS DUE FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION.. THE WEAR BARS WERE SHOWING AND THE MECHANIC WOULD NOT ROTATE OR ATTEMPT TO ALIGN. HIS COMMENT WAS ALL THE FORD FOCUS VEHICLES ARE LIKE THIS AND NO MATTER HOW GOOD A TIRE YOU PUT ON; THEY WEAR OUT RIGHT AROUND 30,000 MILES. IS THIS ANOTHER DENIED DEFECT BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY LIKE MY TRANSMISSION WAS AT FIRST??? THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND INVESTIGATING WITH OTHER FOCUS OWNERS FOUND THE ABOVE TO BE TRUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES. I AMM SURE I DIDN'T HAVE A BLOW OUT DUE TO USING NITROGEN IN MY TIRES.
