BOUGHT THE CAR ON SATURDAY. ON SUNDAY, NOTICED A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO NOTICED TRANSMISSION SLIPPING BETWEEN GEARS. CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE CORRECTLY AND DOES NOT SHIFT LIKE IT SHOULD. WHEN ON A DECLINE, THE CAR DRIFTS BACKWARDS IF YOU LET OFF THE BRAKE TO ACCELERATE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS ALL NORMAL. FORD HAS INFORMED THE DEALER NOT TO FIX THE ISSUES. DEALER SAID THAT FORD DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION TO THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2013 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK ON MARCH 22, 2013, LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. ALL SUDDEN MY CAR DIED WOULDN'T START. I CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, THE GUY CAME AND JUMP START MY CAR 5-6 TIMES IN ORDER TO GET CAR STARTED, BUT THE HOOD/ AND DASHBOARD HAD BURNING SMELLS AND IT WENT DARK COMPLETELY, NO LIGHTS DISPLAY ON DASH, THE SIGNAL LIGHT DIDN'T EVEN WORK TOO. I CHECKED ONLINE, MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINT FORD FOCUS HAS ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEM SINCE YEAR 2000, AND IT IS CONTINUED USING ON YEAR 2013 MODEL, THE WIRE CRACKING IN INSULATION. FORD SHOULD RECALL CARS TO FIX THEIR DESIGN PROBLEMS, BUT I BELIEVE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STEP IN BEFORE THE BIG 3 MOTOR MANUFACTURERS WOULD TAKE CONSUMERS SERIOUSLY. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PRESSED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR AND IMMEDIATELY A WARNING TONE WENT OFF, AND A WARNING LIGHT LIT UP ON THE DASH SAYING "STOP SAFELY NOW." THEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT A "YELLOW WRENCH" ICON WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE. THE CAR STILL HAD ELECTRICITY TO THE DASH, BUT WOULD DO NOTHING WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STEPPED ON. THE CAR WAS DEAD. I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR OUT OF GEAR, INTO PARK. I PUT MY HAZARDS ON, BUT WAS VERY AFRAID OF BEING REAR-ENDED DUE TO THE INTERSECTION BEING SO BUSY. I TRIED HOLDING THE ON/OFF BUTTON AND KEPT GETTING THE SAME WARNINGS. IT WAS ONLY BY CONTINUING TO PUSH THE ON/OFF BUTTON DID I FINALLY GET THE CAR TO RESET, AND TURN OFF, THEN ON. WHEN IT FINALLY STARTED THE WARNING MESSAGES WERE THEN GONE. I CALLED FORD, AND TOOK THE CAR THE DEALER WHO FOUND NO CODES RECORDED. THIS IS STILL A VERY SMALL VOLUME PRODUCTION CAR AND THERE ARE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME BEHAVIOR ON THE FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC BULLETIN BOARDS. SOME HAVE HAD THIS OCCUR WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION WITH THE CAR BECOMING NON-RESPONSIVE AND WITH THE SAME "STOP SAFELY NOW" WARNINGS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO PLACE A YAKIMA BIKE RACK ON THE ROOF OF HIS VEHICLE BUT THE FRONT AND REAR CLIPS FAILED TO CONNECT PROPERLY. THE RETAILER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE MANUFACTURER ENSURED THAT THE RACK WAS ADEQUATE ENOUGH TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE RACK WAS NOT REPLACED. *TR
WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR ON 11/16/12. WE EXPERIENCE SUDDEN LURCHES FORWARD WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL, DELAYED ACCELERATION WHEN TAKING OF, SUDDEN LOSS OF FORWARD PROPULSION, TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, DELAYED GEAR ENGAGEMENT, HARD OR ERRATIC SHIFTS AND TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. DUE TO ALL THESE PROBLEMS WE ONCE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT 55 MILES PER HOUR AND HAD TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR AT LEAST 8 TIMES TO GET SERVICED AND THE THE PROBLEM DOES NOT GET RESOLVED.

The contact stated that since owning the vehicle, the transmission would either slip out of gear, hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal, or stall without warning. The contact had previously taken her vehicle to the dealer and had the vehicle serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V515000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, she was recently informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and filed a complaint. The contact was later referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 6.
2013 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING. *LD *TR
I PURCHASED THE CAR ON 01/27/2013 WITH 25 MILES ON IT. ON 03/21/2013 I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 904 MILES AND TOLD I THOUGHT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT WAS NOISY AND SHUDDERING WHEN CHANGING GEARS DURING ACCELERATION. THEY CHECKED IT AND SAID THEY "COULD NOT DUPLICATE CONCERN AT THIS TIME." IN SEPTEMBER 2014 I RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CLUTCH #14M01. 09/22/14-09/29/14 AT 10683 MILES DEALERSHIP DROVE AND AGREED THERE WAS TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AND NOISE. "INSTALLED NEW CLUTCH, SEALS AND HARDWARE." ON 10/22/14 AT 11311 MILES I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THERE WAS STILL TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AND NOISE. THEY ADVISED ME TO "DRIVE BETWEEN 2000 TO 5000 MILES FOR PROPER CLUTCH BREAK-IN PERIOD." ON 08/17/15 AT 19158 MILES I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK WITH TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AND NOISE. THEY VERIFIED MY CONCERN STATING "RAW FAILED EVENT #2 333 EVENT 12 504 NO SIGNS OF TRANS LEAKS AT THIS MOMENT." NOTHING WAS DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ON 09/21/15 AT 20143 MILES "EXCESSIVE SHUDDER UNDER ACCELERATION...RAW FAILED READING BOTTOM LEFT OF NO LEAKS AT THIS TIME SOP CLUTCH." I WAS TOLD THE NEW CLUTCH WAS BACK ORDERED AND DROVE MY CAR UNTIL 10/14/15 AT 20709 MILES THEY "REMOVED TRANSMISSION REPLACED BOTH INNER INPUT SHAFT SEALS HALF SHAFT SEALS REPLACED CLUTCH REINSTALLED TRANSMISSION RE PROGRAMMED TCM TEST DROVE OK." SINCE THEN THERE HAS BEEN SOME TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AND SOME NOISE, BUT NOT NEARLY AS LOUD AS BEFORE. IT HAS ONLY BEEN APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS SINCE LAST CLUTCH REPLACEMENT.
SOON AFTER BUYING THE CAR IT STARTED STALLING WHEN FIRST ACCELERATING LEADING TO RISK OF THE CAR STALLING AT INTERSECTIONS. THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY LURCH FORWARD AND I HAVE BEEN VERY CLOSE TO CRASHING SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR FOR SERVICE ABOUT 4 TIMES AND IT WORKS FINE FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS BEFORE STARTING AGAIN WITH THE PROBLEM. RECENTLY (07/31/2015) THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON AND WHEN IT DID IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY CITY STREET. A SHOP AT A FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION MODULE CONTROL WHICH THEY REPLACE BUT 2 DAYS AFTER I GOT MY CAR BACK IT DID IT AGAIN. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PRESSED THE PEDAL AND I WAS ON I95! I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY BABY WHILE IN THIS CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND THEN RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE CONTACT WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN 70 DEGREE AND WEATHER AND ABOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE FOR THE SAME DEFECT. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RACK AND PINION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DEEMED A "LEMON" PURSUANT TO COLORADO BBB AUTO COMPLAINT. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHUDDER, LAG, OR INTERMITTENTLY LURCH FORWARD. IT IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE. *TR
THIS CAR STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. AT THE TIME THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL FUNCTION AND THAT THE CAR WAS EXPECTED TO SHUDDER SLIGHTLY AND TO RUN IT FOR A 1,000 MILES TO ALLOW THE CAR TO ADJUST TO MY DRIVING.WHEN THE SHUDDER SLOWLY BECAME WORSE, I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. SINCE THAT FIRST TIME, I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACE 3 TIMES AND I CANT EVER COUNT HOW MANY "SOFTWARE" UPDATES. EACH UPDATE I GET THE SAME RUN AROUND ABOUT DRIVING IT FOR 500-1000 MILES TO ALLOW THE SYSTEM TO RESET. THAT IS CRAP, AND IT NEVER WORKS. ADDITIONALLY, THE LAST TWO UPDATES I HAD TO CONTACT THEM...REALLY IF THERE IS AN UPDATE NEEDED SHOULDN'T THEY BE CONTACTING THEIR CONSUMER? THE WORSE PART IS THE THE TWO TIMES IT ACTED UP I WAS OUT OF TOWN WHEN THE CAR STARTED ACTING UP. I HAD TO INVEST IN AAA, JUST BECAUSE I CAN'T TRUST MY "NEW" CAR. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT THIS PROBLEM COULD VERY EASILY CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IT CAUSES THE CAR NOT TO ACCELERATE AS IT SHOULD: FOR EXAMPLE YOU GO TO PULL OUT ONTO A ROAD WITH PLENTY OF TIME, BUT THE CAR SPUDDERS AND DOESN'T PICK UP SPEED OR MERGING ONTO THE EXPRESS WAY AND IT DOESN'T ACCELERATE AS IT SHOULD? I WORK IN THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY, I HAPPEN TO WORK IN THEIR SAFETY DEPARTMENT AND CAN TELL YOU THAT I WOULD NEVER ALLOW ONE OF OUR TRUCKS ON THE ROAD THAT PERFORMED LIKE MY CAR DOES. (OR SHOULD I SAY DOESNT') IT IS A SAFETY TO ME AND THE MOTORING PUBLIC. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS AND FORD HAS DONE NOTHING BUT EXTEND WARRANTIES TO MAKE UP FOR THE SHOTTY PRODUCT THEY HAVE PUT OUT TO MARKET. IN ANY OTHER INDUSTRY I COULD RETURN A PRODUCT THAT WAS CRAP, BUT WITH CARS - YOU ARE JUST STUCK! I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THIS BATTLE FOR TWO YEARS NOW. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO HOLD FORD ACCOUNTABLE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT IT CONTINUED TO STALL INTERMITTENTLY. THE REMEDY DID NOT RESOLVE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,200.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THERE WAS A HESITATION AND VIBRATION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF INITIAL PURCHASE I NOTICED A RATTLE/CRUNCHING/GRINDING NOISE FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE IS PREVALENT DURING REVERSE AS A RATTLE AND DURING LEFT TURNS AS CRUNCH AND SOMETIMES GRINDING NOISE. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED BOB ROHRMAN SCHAUMBURG FORD (815 E GOLF RD, SCHAUMBURG, IL 60173), AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. AN APPOINTMENT WAS NOT YET SCHEDULED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING INTO SECOND GEAR PREVIOUSLY AND WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
THE PROBLEM WITH THE 2013 FORD FOCUS ST, A SPORTY VERSION OF THE STANDARD FOCUS IS WITH THE GOODYEAR 235/40/18" SUMMER ONLY TIRES AS A STANDARD TIRE FOR ALL ST'S. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE, THEY OPENED A CASE NUMBER ([XXX]). I CALLED THE SALES MANAGER AT ASKING IF HE HAD ANY CONCERNS ABOUT SELLING A CAR WITH SUMMER ONLY TIRES. AFTER A BRIEF DISCUSSION HE AGREED THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE OFFERED AN OPTIONAL PACKAGE FOR THE CAR AS THEY DO FOR THE MUSTANG GT. I ALSO CONTACTED GOODYEAR'S CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY ALSO DIDN'T RECOMMEND THIS TIRE FOR WINTER DRIVING AND SUGGESTED FORD COULD HAVE OFFERED SEVERAL OTHER ALL WEATHER HIGH PERFORMANCE TIRES. I WAS NOT TOLD THIS WAS A SUMMER ONLY TIRE FROM THE DEALER OR FORD, AND I SHOULD PURCHASE A WINTER SET OF TIRES AND WHEELS BEFORE DRIVING THE CAR. FOR AN ENTRY LEVEL CAR FOR SOME BUYERS THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM AND AN ADDED COST NOT EXPLAINED BEFORE THE SALE. TODAY I RECEIVED A CALL FROM [XXX]THE REGIONAL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER. SHE HAD REVIEWED THE CASE WITH A FORD TECH MANAGER FOR THE FOCUS ST, THEY CONCLUDED THAT THE CAR COMES THIS WAY WITH SUMMER TIRES ONLY AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN IN SNOW BUT CUSTOMERS CAN PURCHASE A SECOND SET OF ALL WEATHER TIRES AND WHEELS FROM LOCAL TIRE DEALERS SINCE THE FORD DEALER DOES NOT OFFER AN OPTION OR TIRES. NO OFFER FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES, NO CREDIT FOR THE SUMMER TIRES TOWARDS PURCHASE OF ALL SEASON TIRES, OR MOUNT & BALANCE OF TIRES I COULD PURCHASE. AT THE DEALER OR FORD THERE IS NO OPTION TO PURCHASE AN ALL SEASON TIRE FOR A MAIN STREAM SPORTY ECONOMY CAR, LIMITING IT'S USE TO ABOVE FREEZING TEMPERATURE DRIVING. I'M VERY SURPRISED AND DISAPPOINTED BY FORDS UNWILLINGNESS TO PROVIDE ANY SOLUTIONS FOR A SERIOUS DRIVABILITY AND SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE 2013 FORD FOCUS ST DURING WINTER DRIVING. 2013 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POOR DEALERSHIP SERVICE IN GETTING SECURITY CODE CHANGED ON CAR KEYS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED DURING AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED PARTS WERE MISSING FROM THE HATCHBACK AND FOR THE REAR TRAY.
I AM EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH MY 2013 FORD FOCUS THAT IS MAKING ME SO NERVOUS AND SCARING ME. I AM SO AFRAID IT IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, ESPECIALLY PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I HAVE A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I STOP AT A STOP SIGN, LOOK BOTH WAYS, SEE A VEHICLE SOME DISTANCE AWAY AND KNOW IT IS OK TO PULL OUT BUT THEN THE CAR STALLS AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS UPON YOU. IT SHUDDERS WHEN I START TO TAKE OFF INTO TRAFFIC OR FROM A STOP. ALSO, WHEN I SLOW DOWN AND TRY TO SPEED UP IT DOES THE SAME. SOMETIMES IT SHUDDERS SO BAD THAT I AM AFRAID IT IS GOING TO CUT OFF. IT ALSO MAKES A NOISE LIKE A RATTLE. MY CAR ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 9,000 MILES ON IT AND IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE RAN IT THROUGH THE SERVICE PROCEDURES AS REQUIRED BY FORD MOTOR. THIS 2013 FORD FOCUS HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN DECEMBER, 2012, ALWAYS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN REPAIRED. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS TOLD BY AN EMPLOYEE AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THESE CARS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THIS PROBLEM. YOU AND I BOTH KNOW THAT A CAR IS NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THIS. FORD MOTOR IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES BUT FEELS IT IS NOT BAD ENOUGH TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THAT IS LIKE GOING TO THE DOCTOR AND HE TELLS YOU LETS WAIT UNTIL YOU GET WORSE BEFORE WE DO ANYTHING. I AM ASKING THAT MY 2013 FORD FOCUS BE REPAIRED AS IT SHOULD BE. APPROXIMATELY 1/4/-1/3 OF THE TIME, UPON ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE CAR WILL EITHER SHUDDER INTO GEAR WITH LITTLE ACCELERATION, OR WILL LURCH INTO GEAR SO BADLY THAT THE CAR ALMOST COMES TO A STOP DURING ACCELERATION. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALER FOUR TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME, THEY DID A COMPUTER CODE RESET, WHICH WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS THEN THE ISSUE CAME BACK. THE SECOND TIME THEY CHANGED SOME SEALS, AND THAT WORKED FOR A WEEK OR SO BEFORE THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE THIRD AND FOURTH TIMES, I WAS ESSENTIALLY TOLD THAT "THIS WAS NORMAL" AND THERE WAS NOTHING THE DEALER COULD/WOULD DO ABOUT IT. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVER'S VIEW THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. I'VE TAKEN IT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS. THE FIRST DEALER AND WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, (CRONIN, FORD IN HARRISON, OH) SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BOTH TIMES I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR. I'VE TAKEN IT THREE TIMES TO WOODY SANDER FORD IN CINCINNATI, OH. THEY SAID THERE WAS SOMETHING ON THE WINDSHIELD AND THE WIPERS WORKED FINE FOR THEM AFTER THEY BUFFED OFF THE OBSTRUCTION. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I LEFT WOODY SANDER'S SERVICE SHOP, I NEEDED TO USE MY WIPERS, AND THE WIPER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE CONTINUED TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF MY VIEW. THE EXACT PROBLEM WOODY SANDER SAID THEY HAD FIXED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE TO DRIVE WHEN IT'S RAINING. IT ALSO OCCURS EVEN WHEN I JUST TRY TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD WITH THE WIPER FLUID. I'VE TRIED TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED 5 TIMES SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. *TR

AT LOW SPEEDS IT SHAKES/SHUDDERS/RATTLES/HESITATES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. I UNDERSTAND IT'S A MANUAL TRANSMISSION BUT I DON'T BELIEVE FOR A SECOND THAT THE MANUFACTURERS INTENDED FOR THE CAR TO BEHAVE THIS WAY. IT HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TO A POINT WHERE IT FEELS AS THOUGH IT WILL STALL. I NO LONGER MAKE LEFTS BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC FOR FEAR THAT IT WILL STALL COMPLETELY. I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED AND THE CAR HAS BEEN "REPROGRAMMED" COUNTLESS TIMES, ALWAYS WITH THE SAME RESULT: AFTER A FEW DAYS, THE PROBLEMS RETURN AND IT ONLY GETS WORSE AS THE CAR GETS OLDER. I AM TRULY STARTING TO HATE THIS CAR AND REGRET EVER EVEN GIVING FORD A CHANCE. I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN. *TR
BEGINNING IN MARCH 2013, ONLY 4 MONTHS AFTER ITS PURCHASE, I NOTICED MY CAR HESITATED TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY. I BROUGHT IT INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD A BAD TANK OF GAS. THE ISSUE APPEARED TO HAVE GONE AWAY AFTER A WHILE, BUT RETURNED IN 2014. IN 2014, I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO FORD ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS FOR THE HESITATION, SHUTTER, AND ASSOCIATED NOISES. I FEEL AS IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE MY CAR IS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE PROPER GEAR WHEN I AM TRYING TO ACCELERATE ONTO A CROWDED HIGHWAY OR THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. FORD HAS RECALIBRATED THE COMPUTER FOR THE TRANSMISSION MULTIPLE TIMES, AND EVEN THOUGH THE SERVICE RECEIPT SAYS THAT THE SHUTTER IS STILL PRESENT AFTER THEY FIX IT, IT IS OKAY BY FORD'S STANDARDS, SO THEY ALLOW ME TO LEAVE THE SHOP. THE SHUTTER APPEARS TO IMPROVE FOR THE MOST PART AFTER TAKING IT TO FORD, ONLY TO RETURN IN A MATTER OF TWO OR THREE WEEKS. THE RECALIBRATION SERVICE FORD IS OFFERING IS NOT AN APPROPRIATE LONG-TERM SAFETY FIX, AND THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH A TRUE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *JS
NOTED JERKY MOVEMENT OF CAR DURING TURNS AND IMMEDIATELY UPON ACCELERATION. WAS MINOR AT FIRST, BUT APPEARED TO INCREASE IN DURATION AND INTENSITY WITH ADDITIONAL MILEAGE. QUALITY OF SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS VERY POOR - SURGING AND LURCHING NOTICED. SLIGHT OIL LEAK DETECTED TOWARDS FRONT END OF ENGINE AT FIRST OIL CHANGE. UNDER ENGINE COVER ALSO COATED WITH ENGINE OIL RESIDUE. TOOK VEHICLE INTO FORD DEALER FOR ABOVE COMPLAINT, WAS INFORMED THAT ENGINE HAD LOST OIL DUE TO LEAK AND HAD CONTAMINATED ITS CLUTCHES (EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC, IT HAS 2 CLUTCH DISCS) WHICH CAUSED ERRATIC PERFORMANCE AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR. INITIAL GUESS IS DEFECTIVE REAR MAIN SEAL IS AT FAULT. CONCERN OVER DAMAGE TO ENGINE DISMISSED BY SHOP SUPERVISOR. PERSONAL CONCERN WAS THAT VOLUME OF OIL SOAKING INTO UNDER ENGINE COVER COULD BE IGNITED BY ENGINE AND CAUSE FIRE. SAFETY CONCERN OVER DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION IS THAT DECREASED PERFORMANCE WOULD LEAVE VEHICLE STRANDED. COMPLETE LOSS OF ENGINE OIL WOULD RESULT IN CAR STOPPING, AND COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE ACCIDENT, DAMAGE, FIRE, ETC. *TR
VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH WITH NO WARNING. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO RESTART FOR 10-15 MINUTES, THE CAR DID RE-START, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP ON 2/22. AWAITING INFORMATION FROM DEALER. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS DURING ACCELERATING AND HAS CONTINUED TO DO SO FIR THE PAST 18 MONTHS. THE ISSUE HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. *TR
THE CAR WILL NEARLY STALL (AS IF TRANSMISSION SLIPPED/DISENGAGED), ENGINE SPUTTERS, TRANSMISSION GRINDS AND JERKS THEN GEARS CATCH AND CAR LURCHES FORWARDS AND SPEEDS OFF AS IF IT IS POSSESSED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ENTER MOVING TRAFFIC AND ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN CROSSING MULTIPLE LANES OF TRAFFIC OR IF THE DRIVER IS LESS EXPERIENCED OR ISN'T AWARE THAT HE/SHE NEEDS TO ACCOMMODATE IT. THE MORE MILES ACCUMULATED, THE WORSE AND MORE PRONOUNCED THE ISSUE. FORD "REPROGRAMMED" MY TRANSMISSION JULY 2013 (11,000 MILES) WITH NO RESULTS. FORD'S RESPONSE, "SHUDDER" IS NORMAL AND THE INTENTIONAL DESIGN OF THE CAR. THE ISSUE WORSENED TO THE POINT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DISENGAGE WHILE CLIMBING HILLS ( WORSE ON MODERATE TO STEEP GRADES) AND RELIABILITY OF THIS CAR DETERIORATED TO THE POINT I WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN A HILL I HAD ATTEMPTED TO CLIMB AT 50-55MPH BECAUSE THE CAR JUST STOPS MOVING FORWARD THEN THE CAR WILL GRIND, BANG SHAKE, JERK THEN LURCH FORWARD AND SPEED OFF LIKE IT FINALLY GOT GAS AND FOUND THE GEARS (MAY 1,2015). OCTOBER 22, 2014, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, WITH THE FORD LETTER IN HAND AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK MY CAR AGAIN. PARTS WERE ORDERED AND IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THEN BUT, IF I WAS LEFT STRANDED TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. IT SOUNDED LIKE APPLYING THE BRAKES WITH NO PADS. THE CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND EVERY TIME THEY SAY IT IS NORMAL. I EVEN RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD DESCRIBING THE ABOVE AS COMMON CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. *TR
DRIVING TO WORK TRAVELING AT 80 MPH MY FORD FOCUS 2013 HATCHBACK SE DECELERATES TO 60 MPH. I STEP ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE RPM GOES FROM 3000 RPM TO 4500 RPM WITH NO INCREASE IN SPEED. THE CAR WAS ONLY GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE IN THE ROAD NO MORE THAN 10 DEGREES OF ELEVATION. I RELEASE THE GAS AND THEN TRY TO STEP ON THE BRAKE GENTLY. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON, AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT EVER HAPPENED. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW JAN 2, 2013. THEY FINALLY REPLACED CLUTCH WHICH HELPED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE ORIGINAL PROBLEMS RETURNED. NOW, ON A GOOD DAY, THE CAR JUST GRINDS IN 3RD GEAR. THE SAME PROBLEM THEN RETURNED ABOUT 7 MONTHS LATER, I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE FORD DEALER FOR YET ANOTHER REPAIR ON 9/6/13. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE BCM. THE SAME PROBLEM RETURNED 4 MONTHS LATER. THEN I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR CO. WITH A TRANSMISSION WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 7 YEARS AS OPPOSED TO THE ORIGINAL 5 YEAR WARRANTY.I CALLED THE SERVICE PERSON AT THE FORD DEALER TO INFORM THEM THE SAME PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAD NO REPAIR OPTIONS AT THIS TIME AND NOT TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR. AT THIS POINT THE PROBLEM WITH CLUTCH SHUDDER IS CONSTANT, AND ROLLS BACK ALMOST ALL THE TIME. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND MANY FORD FOCUS OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUES. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE. IT IS BECOMING EVIDENT THAT FORD MOTOR CO. IS NOT DOING ENOUGH OR ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD IT RESET ONCE AND IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AGAIN. IT IS TOTALLY EMBARRASSING WHEN I HAVE SOMEONE IN THE CAR THAT NOTICES IT AS WELL. FORD SHOULD BE FIXING THIS ISSUE. IT IS VERY COMMON. WHAT DO YOU THINK POTENTIAL BUYERS OF FORDS THINK WHEN THEY FIND OUT THAT FORD WILL DO NOTHING. THE RESET ON THE COMPUTER IS A JOKE AND FORD SENT US A LETTER COVERING ANY POTENTIAL TRANSMISSION ISSUES UNTIL 100,000 MILES. YEAH, NOT. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THAT. IN THE MEANTIME, UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION FAILS, I AM EXPECTED TO JUST COPE WITH THE MINIMAL POWER OF ACCELERATION IN FIRST AND SECOND WHICH IS HIGH DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC. APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES INTO TRIP TO WORK FROM HOME THE POWER ASSIST STEERING ON MY 2013 FORD FOCUS FAILED AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE BECAME SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFICULT TO STEER. LUCKLY I WAS ON A STRAIGHT PATH, HAD THIS HAPPENED IN A TURN, AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY OCCURED. AT THE POINT WHERE THE POWER ASSIST STEERING FAILED A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARDS LED DISPLAY THAT READ SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT THAT LOSE OF POWER ASSITED STEERING DETECTED. AFTER THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED, THE VEHICLE'S (!) LIGHT REMAINED LITE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHO AFTER LOOKING AT IT STATED THAT THE TECHNICIAN STARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT RAN PERFECTLY. NO ISSES WITH THE STEERING AT ALL, BUT THAT THERE WERE SOME "CODES" LOOGED IN THE VEHICLE'S SYSTEM THAT THEY WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH AND WERE TRYING TO REACH THE "FORD HOTLINE" FOR FURTHER HELP. *TR

TURNS OUT IT IS THE SAME TRANSMISSION, EXCEPT WITH A COMPUTER UPDATE WHICH DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE. WITHIN THE FIRST FEW WEEKS, MY CAR WAS 'SHUDDERING' FOR LACK OF A BETTER DESCRIPTION WHEN ACCELERATING; THE RPM'S GO UP SPORADICALLY TO, REVVING THE ENGINE HIGHER THAN IT NEEDS TO GO. IT FEELS ALMOST LIKE IT'S GOING TO DIE AND THEN WILL CATCH THE GEAR AND GO. I HAVE TAKEN MY CURRENT CAR IN FOR SERVICE ONCE FOR ANOTHER UPDATE, BUT MY 2011 WAS IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES TO FIX THIS ISSUE, AND ALWAYS CAME BACK TO ME DOING THE SAME 'SHUDDERING' AS IT DID BEFORE IT WENT IN. IT'S NOT SAFE TO TRY AND DRIVE A CAR THAT SHUDDERS AND LAGS WHEN YOU HAVE TO CROSS BUSY STREETS AND IN NORMAL DAILY TRAFFIC. I'M TIRED OF DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE ESPECIALLY BEING THAT I BOUGHT A NEW CAR. AND AN AMERICAN CAR AT THAT. FORD NEEDS TO HAVE SOME INTEGRITY AND FIX THIS BEFORE I DO WHAT I WANT TO DO AND GO BUY A HONDA OR NISSAN.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND WAS PUTTING SOME GAS ON TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE DEEP SNOW TO THE CENTER OF THE ROAD WHERE THE SNOW WAS COMPACTED. I WOULD HAVE MADE IT TO THE CENTER; HOWEVER THE TRACTION CONTROL REDUCED THE POWER TO THE DRIVE WHEELS GETTING ME STUCK IN THE SNOW, BLOCKING HALF OF THE LANE. IF THIS WOULD HAVE OCCURRED IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC I MIGHT HAVE BEEN HIT. I HAD TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHICH ALSO PUT ME AT A HIGHER RISK OF GETTING HIT BY A CAR, OR SLIPPING AND FALLING, OR GETTING FROST BITE. IF I HAD THE OPTION OF TURNING OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL I COULD HAVE GOTTEN MYSELF OUT OF THE SNOW AND CONTINUED ON MY WAY SAFELY. CONVERSELY, IF I DID NOT HAVE THE TRACTION CONTROL ON IN THE FIRST PLACE I WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN STUCK. THIS BROUGHT TO MIND A FEW CRITICAL QUESTIONS: 1. WHAT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN A MORE REMOTE AREA AND I HAD BEEN STRANDED IN FREEZING WEATHER WITHOUT HELP; AND 2. WHAT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN A MORE CONGESTED ROADWAY AND I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIT DUE TO THE RANDOM OPERATION OF THE TRACTION CONTROL WITHOUT A WAY TO DISABLE THE FEATURE. BECAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT I FEEL UNSAFE WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL ON, SO I HAVE DISABLED IT. TO DO SO I HAD TO PULL THE FUSE, WHICH ALSO DISABLED THE ABS. I HAVE DRIVEN FOR OVER HALF OF MY DRIVING CAREER WITHOUT ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL HAS NEVER BENEFITED ME, EVEN WHEN I NEEDED THE FEATURES. A CONCERTED INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE MADE TO DETERMINE IF FORCING THIS FEATURE ON DRIVERS IS A BETTER POLICY THAN ALLOWING THE DRIVER'S EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING TO BE THE CONTROLLING FORCE WHEN BEHIND THE WHEEL. I BELIEVE THAT THERE MUST BE, IN ALL CASES, A WAY TO TURN OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL FEATURE IN A VEHICLE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND THEIR PASSENGERS. *TR
CLUTCH FIXED 3 SEPARATE TIMES. NEEDS REPAIRED AGAIN. SEATBELT WILL NOT LATCH FOR THE SECOND TIME. WANT TO SWITCH CARS, NOT A FORD. WAS TOLD AT HERRINGTON-YOAK FORD THAT THEY WOULD FIND ME A TOYOTA RAV4, HONDA CRV OR HONDA CIVIC. NEVER RECEIVED A CALL, HAD TO CALL THEM AND WAS DENIED. *JS
DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY ~50MPH THE CAR SEEMED TO BE DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT AS THOUGH BEING BLOWN BY HEAVY WINDS, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS LITTLE/NO WIND THAT DAY. I APPLIED A TYPICAL, SLIGHT ADJUSTMENT TO THE LEFT BUT THE STEERING WHEEL RESISTED MY INPUT, AS THOUGH SOMEBODY WAS HOLDING ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE RIGHT, AFTER A SPLIT SECOND, THE OPPOSING PRESSURE RELEASED AND THE WHEEL OVERCORRECTED TO THE LEFT FOLLOWED BY THE IDENTICAL RESPONSE WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT BACK TO THE RIGHT. IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS EVERY MILE OR SO, FOR APPROXIMATELY 9 MILES, UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE HIGHWAY. AT LOWER SPEEDS (CITY DRIVING) THE STEERING IS COMPLETELY NORMAL. THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED ON THREE DIFFERENT STRETCHES OF HIGHWAY IN THE JACKSONVILLE AREA. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT LANES, CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURE, AND I HAD THE DEALERSHIP CHECK IT BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. APPLYING LIGHT/STEADY/EVEN PRESSURE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE DESIRED CORRECTION, WITHOUT APPLYING PRESSURE BEYOND THE POINT WHERE YOU FEEL THE RESISTANCE SEEMS TO HELP PREVENT THE OVERCORRECTION PROBLEM. ON 9 JAN, WHEN CROSSING UNEVEN LANES ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO CONSTRUCTION, THE WHEEL PULLED TO THE RIGHT MORE THAN YOU'D EVER EXPECT UNDER THESE CONDITIONS AND I ENDED UP HALF WAY INTO THE NEXT LANE. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS IN THAT LANE OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A COLLISION WITHOUT A DOUBT. THAT WAS FOLLOWED BY AN OVERCORRECTION TO THE LEFT, AND AGAIN BACK TO THE RIGHT. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN BELOW 40MPH BEFORE THE RESISTANCE IN THE STEERING EASED UP. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY THAT I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH; I HAVE TRAVELED IT WITHOUT INCIDENT ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS, AND I WAS PREPARED FOR THE TRANSITION BETWEEN THE TWO UNEVEN LANES. I HAVE DRIVEN OTHER VEHICLES WITH EPAS. THIS IS NOT NORMAL!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT HEADREST BLOCKED THE REARVIEW MIRROR VISIBILITY WHEN REVERSING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT AN ADJUSTMENT AVAILABLE FOR THE HEADREST BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY FEATURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I UNDERSTAND AND APPRECIATE THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR REVS AND TENDS TO BEHAVE LIKE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I OWNED A CELICA WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION YEARS AGO. HOWEVER, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THIS FOCUS HAS DECELERATED, PAUSED AND THEN LURCHED FORWARD AND I WAS POWERLESS TO ACCELERATE IT OR ALTER ITS "LURCH". IT TENDS TO MAKE A WIND UP NOISE ON THESE OCCURRENCES. IT OCCASIONALLY HESITATES WHEN I APPLY THE ACCELERATOR FROM STOPPED. SOMETIMES THE HESITATION IS LONGER AND MORE PRONOUNCED THAN AT OTHER TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN THIS FOCUS TO THE DEALER ON FIVE OCCASIONS SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013 AND IT IS DIAGNOSED WITH A CODE 7000 AND THE DEALER HAS TO KEEP THE CAR OVERNIGHT BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPROGRAMMED FROM FORD HEADQUARTERS AS I UNDERSTAND IT. THE DEALER ALSO MAY PERFORM A DRUM ADAPTIVE LEARN STRATEGY AND ADAPTIVE LEARN DRIVE CYCLE. WHEN I LEAVE THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE "SETTLED DOWN" AND RUNS MORE SMOOTHLY AND QUIETLY. IT ALSO GETS SUBSTANTIALLY BETTER MPG. ON APRIL 2, 2014, AT 17,995 MILES, I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE IT WAS HESITATING ON ACCELERATION AND JERKING AND NOISY. THE FOCUS HAD A CRACKED MOTOR MOUNT. AND AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION WAS GIVEN ITS USUAL COMPUTER UPDATE FROM FORD. CURRENTLY, THE FOCUS MILEAGE IS AT 21,300 AND IT'S WINDING ITSELF UP, JERKING ME AROUND, HESITATING AND LURCHING. TWO DAYS AGO, I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC AND, AS I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO PULL OUT, THE FOCUS DID NOT RESPOND FOR A FEW SECONDS. AT THAT POINT I HAD TO BRAKE BECAUSE IT WAS TOO LATE TO ENTER ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS VERY WORRISOME FOR ME ESPECIALLY SINCE MY SON DRIVES THE CAR AS WELL AND HE IS A NOVICE DRIVER WITH ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE. IN MARCH, I WAS TRAVELING AND RENTED A 2013 FORD FOCUS AND DROVE IT ABOUT 500 FREEWAY MILES. IT SEEMED ON IT'S BEST BEHAVIOR. *TR
MY FORD FOCUS HAD A JERKY RIDE FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. I MENTIONED AFTER THE TEST DRIVE THAT IT SEEMED A BIT JERKY ON SHIFTING AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL. A WEEK LATER I TOLD THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE NEW DESIGN. IT GOT WORSE TO THE POINT THAT TWICE WHEN TURNING OUT INTO TRAFFIC WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD ENOUGH ROOM TO ENTER TRAFFIC IT SEEMED TO WANT TO STALL AND I HAD TO STEER IT BACK INTO THE TURN LANE SO AS NOT TO GET HIT. THE CAR VERY OFTEN SMELLED OF BURNT RUBBER THOUGH AT THE TIME I EXPLAINED IT AWAY AS BEING FROM OTHER CARS NEARBY. IN AUGUST 2014 I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A OIL CHANGE AND FOUND OUT THAT A SEAL BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND I HAD A MAJOR OIL LEAK. THIS WAS UNBELIEVABLE FOR A CAR WITH JUST 35,000 MILES AND LUCKY ME I WAS ELIGIBLE FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THOSE PARTS FROM FORD FOR 100, 000 MILES. FORD NOTIFIED ME THE NEXT WEEK ABOUT THE WARRANTY ONLY AFTER THE REPAIR. THE CAR DROVE BETTER FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS BUT THEN THE SHUDDERS RETURNED AND BEGAN TO WORSEN. I WAS GOING TO TAKE IT IN AND HAVE FORD LOOK AT IT AGAIN BUT THEN ON 9-14-2014 I WAS EXITING MY CAR AND THERE WAS AN OVERWHELMING ODOR OF BURNT RUBBER COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I DECIDED RIGHT THEN I WAS NOT GOING TO PUT UP WITH THE DEFECTIVE AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS CAR ANYMORE AND I TRADED IT IN AT LOSS. I RECOMMEND A SERIOUS LOOK AT THIS ISSUE. INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE IN PARK - STOPPED THE CAR AND PLACED IT IN PARK (THOUGHT I DID) SHUT THE CAR OFF AND LOCKED THE VEHICLE AND ENTERED THE STORE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS OBVISIOUSLY NOT IN PARK BUT ALLOWED ME TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND LOCK THE DOORS WHILE NOT IN PARK. I HAVE NOTICED THIS BEFORE AND FIND THAT YOU NEED TO ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT IS IN PARK. THIS IS A KEYLESS VEHICLE - OTHER KEYED VEHICLES THAT I OWN WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PULL THE KEYS OUT IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK. THIS APPEARS TO BE A FLAW IN THIS KEYLESS VEHICLE.. *TR

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A BRAND NEW AUTOMATIC FORD FOCUS 2013 AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY. THE FIRST PROBLEM IS THE CAR TENDS TO STALL IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR, KEEP IN MIND IT IS AUTOMATIC.
