WHILE DRIVING. MY CAR REVS AT A VERY HIGH RPM 2K OR HIGHER. AND THE CAR ALSO REVS HIGH WHEN SHIFTING. I CANNOT DRIVE GREATER THAN 70 MPH IN FEAR THAT I WILL REV TOO HIGH AND RUIN MY TRANSMISSION. MY CAR ALSO SHUTTERS TERRIBLY.
ONCE THE TRANSMISSION HAS WARMED UP (GENERALLY ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING) THE CAR BEGINS TO JERK, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS, FAILS TO SHIFT DURING ACCELERATION AND MAKES THE ENTIRE CAR SHUDDER. WHEN STOPPING ON HILLS THIS CAN RESULT OF THE CAR SUDDENLY ROLLING BACKWARDS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT CAN ALSO MAKE GOING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS A HAIRY PROPOSITION. THIS HAPPENS CONSTANTLY AND MY WIFE AND I HAVE TAKEN TO CARPOOLING WHENEVER POSSIBLE. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. WE NOTICED THE ISSUE SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT IT CERTIFIED PREOWNED FROM FORD IN NOVEMBER OF 2017. FORD TOLD ME REPEATEDLY THAT THERE WAS A LEARNING COMPONENT TO THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT IT HAD TO LEARN HOW I DRIVE BEFORE IT "SETTLED IN" AND TO GIVE IT TIME. AFTER A LEARNING MODULE RESET, MULTIPLE CALLS AND TRIPS TO FORD IN DECEMBER 2018 THEY FINALLY AGREED TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR DATE ONCE THE PARTS CAME IN. THEY ALSO SAID AT THE TIME THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME DESPITE MY MISGIVINGS. THIS WAS OVER 8 MONTHS AGO. EACH TIME I CALL THEY SAID I AM STILL ON THE WAITING LIST AND THAT I HAVE TO WAIT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO UNTIL THEY HAVE THE PARTS. IT IS NOW 7/29/19, OVER 8 MONTHS LATER, AND THEY HAVE YET TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE NATIONALLY. IN MY AREA I WAS TOLD BY ONE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT IT IS COMMON TO WAIT OVER A YEAR. I CAN'T SELL THE CAR TO SOMEONE ELSE IN GOOD CONSCIENCE KNOWING THE PROBLEM. I CAN'T USE THE CAR SAFELY BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. I'M STILL MAKING MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THE CAR DESPITE THE PROBLEM SO I CAN'T BUY A NEW CAR. I'M TRAPPED ALONG WITH APPARENTLY THOUSANDS OF OTHERS AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
MY CAR ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF!

2014 FORD FOCUS SE SEDAN. FORD PROCRASTINATED FIXING THE TRANSMISSION MODULE. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM REPEATEDLY BUT THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE 6 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION. FINALLY I THREATENED TO CONTACT NHTSA AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY REPLACED THE MODULE AT 13,000 MILES AND AGAIN AFTER 26,000 MILES. THEY DELAYED AGAIN AND NOW AT 62,000 THEY SAY I NEED A NEW CLUTCH. MY DAD WAS A MECHANIC AND I TAKE CARE OF OUR VEHICLES. I BELIEVE THAT THE DELAY IN REPAIRING THE MODULE LEAD TO WEAR ON THE CLUTCH. IT IS VERY UNUSUAL FOR AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE 2015 MODEL IS COVERED FOR THIS PROBLEM.
OFTEN WHEN DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHUDDER, SPECIFICALLY WITH HITTING THE GAS. I'M OFTEN CONCERNED ABOUT TURNING UP FRONT OF CARS AS IT SHUDDERS BEFORE FINALLY GOING. THIS HAS BEEN CONTINUAL WITH THIS VEHICLE
EVER SINCE WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IT HAS LOST POWER DURING ACCELERATION, SLIPS OUT OF GEAR REGULARLY, WHEN STOPED ON AN INCLINE THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACK APPROX 3FT BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION WILL CATCH ALMOST HITTING VEHICLES BEHIND ME. IT HAS ALWAYS HAD THIS TERRIBLE SHUDDER COMING OUT OF 1ST GEAR. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. I WILL NOT LET MY CHILDREN RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE AND IT WOULD NOT BE ETHICALLY RIGHT TO SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE.
DPS6 POWERSHIFT. I WAS AT A VERY BUSY BIG INTERSECTION..RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT THE CAR SLIPS/JERKS LIKE IT PUT ITSELF IN NEUTRAL AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL..A TRANSFER TRUCK WAS COMING AND BARELY GOT STOPPED ALMOST T BONED ME ON DRIVERSIDE WITH MY SON IN THE CAR. PLEASE TELL ME HOW THIS IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN?? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE FOR THE NHTSA OR FORD TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY?? THIS HAS WENT ON FOR WAY TO LONG FOR NOTHING TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. NO MATTER HOW DANGEROUS IT IS TO ME, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER DRIVERS I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT. IT'S OUR ONLY VEHICLE AND WE STILL OWE 11,000 ON IT AND IT'S ONLY WORTH 3,000. I HAVE TO LEAVE A HOUR EARLY FOR EVERY TRIP BC I KNOW I'M GOING TO BE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE RD LITERALLY EVERY 5 MIN...OR WORSE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS...I AM BEGGING YOU!!!
THREE DAYS AGO, WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY DRIVING A 2014 FORD FOCUS, MY CAR TRANSMISSION SWITCHED TO WHAT SEEMS TO BE CALLED "UNINTENDED NEUTRAL," WHERE I WAS IN DRIVE BUT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, AND INSTEAD REVVED LIKE I WAS FEEDING THE ENGINE GAS IN NEUTRAL. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY AND EVENTUALLY SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT TO SAFELY MOVE OVER TO THE SHOULDER. ACCORDING TO SUITS AND COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN GETTING MORE ATTENTION IN THE LAST MONTH, THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE DPS6 TRANSMISSION IN THE FORD FOCUS AND FIESTA - WITH INCREASED CALLS IN RECENT WEEKS FROM CONGRESS TO HAVE THE NHTSA LOOK IN TO THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION ISSUE THAT HAPPENS WHEN THESE VEHICLES COME OUT OF STOPS - WHICH HAS ALSO HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE, ALL IN ADDITION TO THE INTENSE SHUDDERING THAT COMES FROM THE HOOD OF THE CAR NEARLY EVERY TIME I DRIVE. THOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, IT CONSISTENTLY DRIVES LIKE SOMEONE IS POORLY DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. WE WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS CAR IF IT DROVE LIKE THIS AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND UPON RETURNING IT TO A DEALERSHIP OVER A YEAR AGO TO ASK FOR AN EXPLANATION ABOUT THE SHUDDERING, THE DEALER SAID THIS WAS ENTIRELY "NORMAL" AND HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. I URGE THE NHTSA TO LOOK IN TO THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I AM NOT SURE WHAT I SHOULD DO - AN EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS BEEN PUT OUT FOR THESE TRANSMISSIONS BUT I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS ONLINE ABOUT PEOPLE GETTING THIS "FIXED" AT DEALERSHIPS THREE OR MORE TIMES AND AM UNSURE WHETHER I SHOULD JUST GET A DIFFERENT CAR OR IF THERE WILL BE A LONG TERM SOLUTION FROM FORD ON THIS ISSUE. AT A STOP LIGHT JUST BEFORE MY HOUSE MY CAR MADE A NOISE, LURCHED AND THEN DIDNT WANT TO ACCELERATE. IT WAS CLOSE TO HOME SO WE CRAWLED IT HOME THANKFULLY THEN IT REFUSED TO GO IN REVERSE. PREVIOUSLY IT HAD A STUTTER PROBLEM BROUGHT IT TO FORD AND OTHER MECHANICS AND GOT NO ANSWER AS TO WHAT CAUSED IT. CURRENTLY BEING IN MY 9TH MONTH OF PREGNANCY AND HAVING AN 11 MONTH OLD BABY IN THE CAR THESE ISSUES COULDVE CAUSED A CRASH AND PUT THE LIFE OF MY UNBORN CHILD AND MY BABY IN THE BACK IN DANGER. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BEING THAT IT IS THE TCM WHICH IS FAULTY HOWEVER THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE WHOLE PROBLEM. THE TCM CAUSES THE CLUTCH AND CLUTCH FORKS TO GO BAD LEADING TO THESE PROBLEMS AND FORD WANTS OVER $2000 TO FIX IT WHILE THEY ONLY REPLACE THE TCM. FORD PUT OUT THIS CAR KNOWING IT HAD THESE PROBLEMS ON THE PRODUCTION LINE AND DOES NOT PROPERLY INFORM OWNERS THEREFORE CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING.
POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. LUCKY THERE WERE NO OTHERS ON THE ROAD. FORD DEALERSHIP SAID RACK AND PINION NEEDED REPLACING. 2 WEEKS LATER THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED. HAD ALREADY BEEN RE-PROGRAMMED AS PART OF THE 14M02 PROGRAM. THIS DIDN'T FIX THE JUDDERING AND POOR GEAR PERFORMANCE. DEALER SAYS TRANSMISSION IS BROKEN AND NONE OF THE CUSTOMER PROGRAMS APPLY.
ALL OF THE INTERNAL LIGHTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING, AND THE HORN DOES NOT WORK. FUSES ARE ALL FINE. I NOTICED THE HORN NOT WORKING AFTER SOMEONE ALMOST HIT ME ON THE HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING, THE RPMS BECAME STUCK AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS RUNNING HOT. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED FOR A MINUTES WITHOUT POWERING OFF THE ENGINE. THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED "TRANSMISSION READY" AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED SUNSET FORD (11700 GRAVOIS RD, ST, LOUIS, MO 63127, (314) 843-4431) AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
AFTER 2 VISIT TO FORD THEY STATED THAT I NEEDED TO WAIT FOR A LETTER IN ORDER FOR THEM TO REPLACE PARTS THEY HAVE. THE CAR IS RUNNING LEAN BANK 1. WHEN FUELING, IT STALLS. IT HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVE ON A FEW OCCASIONS. THE FUEL ITSELF, GOES QUICK, NOW THAT THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. GETTING UNDER THE CAR, FUEL TANK LOOKS DEFORMED AS WELL AND THE CODE I GET IN THE CAR IS P0171. IT'S BEEN CLOSE TO YEAR SINCE IT'S STARTED AND I STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED A LETTER.
WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR ACCELERATING FROM A VERY SLOW SPEED TO A SPEED ABOVE 40MPH, MY CAR WILL EITHER A.) STALL WHILE ACCELERATING OR B.) WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL FROM A STOPPED POSITION. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD IN DECEMBER 2018 ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WAS TOLD TO KEEP THE FUEL TANK ABOVE HALF FULL. THIS ISSUE PERSISTS EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS, AND I'VE TAKEN IT INTO A FORD SERVICE CENTER TWICE AND TWO ROUNDS OF FIXES HAVE NOT REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. THE DATE ON THIS REPORT IS THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT OF THIS AFTER THE "FIXES" WERE IMPLEMENTED.
CAR WAS WORKING FINE MOST OF THE DAY. GOT IN MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. I TRIED IT THREE TIMES, NO LUCK. I SHUT EVERYTHING OFF, PULLED THE KEYS, OPENED THE DOOR. I THEN TRIED AGAIN FO TURN ON CAR, CAME RIGHT ON. NOW HOWEVER, THE CAR IS HAVING OVER ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING PROBLEMS WHICH IT DIDNT HAVE TWO HOURS AGO. GOING UP/DOWN ANY TYPE OF HILL IS WHERE ITS THE WORST AT ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING RANDOMLY. SOMETIMES IT OVER ACCELERATING AND I DONT EVEN HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS AT THAT MOMENT. AND IT HAS A HARD BUCKING PROBLEM BETWEEN THE TWO RANDOM ACCELERATING/DECELERATING PROBLEMS.
THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION. A RECALL WAS ADDRESSED AT A DEALERSHIP FOR THE PROBLEM 3 YEARS AGO. NOW THE CAR HAS 89,000 MILES AND THE REVERSE QUIT WORKING AND DRIVE HAS A STALLING PROBLEM AS WELL. I TOOK IT TO A PARTS STORE TO HAVE SOMEONE LOOK UP A COMPUTER TO IT. IT READ CLUTCH "B" ACTUATOR CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW. I WAS WITHIN THE CITY WHEN THE LATEST EVENT HAPPENED AND NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN IT WAS DRIVING POORLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, IT DID NOT MOVE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GEORGE WAIKEM FORD (330-478-1801, LOCATED AT 4321 LINCOLNWAY E, MASSILLON, OH 44646) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,500.
MY FAMILY WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED UP THE STEERING WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT WOULD NOT TURN WITHOUT A LOT OF DIFFICULTIES. A MESSAGE CAME ON THAT SAID: STEERING ASSIST FAULT. SERVICE REQUIRED. WE HAD TO GET TO AN AIRPORT AND WE WERE STUCK IN A PARKING LOT. WE WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHERS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IF THERE WAS A SOLUTION. WE SAW THAT OTHERS HAD THIS PROBLEM. ONE SOLUTION WE READ WAS TO LET THE CAR SIT A BIT AND THEN TRY AGAIN. WE DID THIS AND EACH TIME IT WAS STILL VERY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. FINALLY, AFTER WAITING A LITTLE LONGER I STARTED THE CAR AND IT SEEMED TO BE ABLE TO MOVE BUT WAS STILL VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. AFTER CIRCLING THE PARKING LOT A FEW TIMES WE DECIDED TO TRY TO GET TO THE AIRPORT ON TIME. I DROVE AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT BUT I WAS VERY CAREFUL AND WE GOT THERE AND THEN HOME, SEVERAL HOURS OF DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT WITH ONLY 58,000 MILES ON THE CAR IT SHOULD NOT HAVE THAT PROBLEM AND THAT HE COULD FIX IT FOR UP TO $2,000 BUT THAT HE WOULD RECOMMEND THAT FORD SHOULD PAY FOR IT AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER AND CONTACT FORD TO PAY FOR IT. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD GARAGE WHO WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING BUT WERE UNABLE TO PAY FOR IT. I THEN CALLED THE FORD COMPANY PHONE AND THE PERSON TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT AT ALL BUT THAT I SHOULD KEEP MY RECEIPT IN CASE THEY LATER WOULD PAY IF MANY WERE AFFECTED. I GOT THE CAR FIXED FOR $2,155. THAT WAS FOR: 1 HV6Z 3504 EP GEAR ASY - STEERING, AND ALSO FOR AN ALIGNMENT WHICH THEY SAID WAS NEEDED BECAUSE OF REPLACING WHAT THEY HAD IN THE STEERING. I HAD TRIED TO START THE CAR AT VARIOUS TIMES AND THE ERROR MESSAGE ALWAYS CAME UP AND IT ALWAYS STEERED HARD. I'M GLAD IT DIDN'T GO OUT ON ME WHEN I WAS DRIVING AS I SEE HAS HAPPENED WITH SOME PEOPLE. FORD SHOULD PAY FOR THIS.
UNDER ANY ACCELERATION THE CAR JERKS BACK AND FORTH, THE TRANSMISSION IS STARTING TO DRIVE REALLY ROUGH AND WE ONLY HAVE 60,000 MILES!
MY FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN ACTING STRANGELY. IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE SMOOTHLY. IT CONTINUALLY FEELS UNDERPOWERED AS IF IT IS GOING TO STALL OR STOP MOVING FORWARD. AT TIMES, IT SEEMS TO HAVE TROUBLE MOVING UP HILLS. PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE CAR IS MOVING. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH ASSEMBLY.
FORD FOCUS SE 2014 DPS6 TRANSMISSION ISSUES. VEHICLE SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL IN MOTION WHILE ASCENDING A HILL AT 65MPH. THIS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO LOSE SPEED QUICKLY WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN ME GETTING REAR-ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK WHO WAS TAILGATING ME. HE PROCEEDED TO HONK AS HE PROBABLY THOUGHT I GOT ON MY BRAKES. TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL IN MOTION, WHILE PULLING OUT INTO A THEN CLEAR INTERSECTION TO GET ACROSS A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. ALMOST RESULTING IN ME GETTING T-BONED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. STOPPED TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION I WAITED FOR A CLEARING, I PRESSED THE GAS THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED VERY SLOWLY INTO THE INTERSECTION ALMOST AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS LAGGING. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED ME TO GET T-BONED WHILE IN THE INTERSECTION.
WE PURCHASED THIS CAR AND IT CUT OFF ON MY DAUGHTER DUE TO THE GAS TANK NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED AND WE PAID FOR IT. SHORTLY AFTER, THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION STOPPED SHIFTING PROPERLY, LOSE POWER, JERK, AND SHAKE WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS BECOME SO UNPREDICTABLE THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE IT. MY DAUGHTER ATTENDS THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST VIRGINIA AND WE DO NOT TAKE THIS CAR ANYMORE DUE TO THE SHUDDERING ON INCLINES IN THE MOUNTAINS.

THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS AND STILL OWE $ ON IT. WOULD LIKE FORD TO JUST BUY BACK THE CAR.
