PREMATURE TIRE WEAR THE TIRES (PIRELLI P6 P225/60 R18) ON MY 2005 FORD FREESTYLE LIMITED NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 18,000 MILES. THE INSIDE EDGE OF THE FRONT TIRES ARE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED EVERY 5,000 MILES. THE DEALER PERFORMED A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT AT 10,000 MILES. WHEN THEY WERE REPLACED AT 18K MILES, ANOTHER 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED BY THE TIRE DISTRIBUTOR. THE SECOND SET OF PIRELLI'S WERE ROTATED EVERY 5K MILES AS WELL HOWEVER THE INSIDE OF THE FRONT TIRES ARE STILL WEARING OUT AND NOW AT 39,000 MILES THE TIRES NEED REPLACED AGAIN. FULL SET OF TIRES NUMBER THREE FOR A CAR THAT?S ONLY TWO YEAR'S OLD. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, FOR APPROXIMATELY MORE THAN ONE HOUR, THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE THROTTLE BODY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPLACED TWO WEEKS PRIOR FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 26,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,200.
I OWN A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE WITH AWD AND THE CVT TRANSMISSION. RECENTLY I DROVE UP PIKES PEAK. ON THE WAY BACK DOWN I USED THE LOW RANGE WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO ACT AS AN ENGINE BRAKE. IT WAS NOT NEARLY LOW ENOUGH TO KEEP VEHICLE AT A SLOW ENOUGH SPEED TO NEGOTIATE THE ROAD COMING BACK DOWN. AT THE CHECK POINT ABOUT A THIRD OF THE WAY DOWN OUR BRAKES WERE MEASURING 600+ DEGREES SO WE WERE TOLD WE SHOULD PULL OVER FOR AT LEAST 40 MINUTES TO LET THEM COOL. WE DID SO AND WENT ON DOWN THE MOUNTAIN WITH NO PROBLEM, BUT I FEEL THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GOES DOWN A MOUNTAIN THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CHECK POINT. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO AROUND THE FIRST OF JULY AND AS OF TODAY HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE OF ANY KIND. THUS I FELT THAT I SHOULD MAKE SOMEONE AWARE OF THIS POSSIBLE PROBLEM. *JB
REAR BRAKE FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME WITH IN 27,000 MILES. FORD REFUSED TO HELP. I BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN THIS SUV. ALSO, HAD TO REPLACE BOTH STRUT BEARINGS AND I HAVE ON STARTING TO GO OUT AGAIN. I THINK THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT THE PLANT. *TR
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION - HAPPENED INFREQUENTLY EARLY IN VEHICLES LIFE AT LOWER MILEAGE. NOW UNINTENDED ACCELERATION HAPPENS MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY AND REGULARLY. IT ONLY HAPPENS AT LOW SPEED, IDLE RPM AND DURING PARKING MANEUVERS. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION/SURGE IS MOST COMMON AFTER A COLD START AND WITH STEERING INPUT. THIS BEHAVIOR REQUIRES THAT I MAINTAIN ACTIVE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I AM CONCERNED THAT, WITH THE ISSUE BECOMING WORSE WITH AGE, I MAY LOSE CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE OR INJURE AN INNOCENT BYSTANDER. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 95,000 AND ISSUE HAS BECOME MARKEDLY WORSE SINCE 75,000. *TR
BOUGHT CAR USED LAST MONTH AND WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS, CAR WAS UNABLE TO GO INTO REVERSE. CALLED THE DEALER, THEY TOLD US TO CALL FORD ROADSIDE SERVICE. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER FOUND SHIFT BEZEL TO BE BROKEN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AT TIMES, USUALLY IN THE IDLE POSITION. HE BELIEVED THAT IT OCCURRED WHEN IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR ACTIVATED AND CAUSED AN INCREASE IN RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 91,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF DUST COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR INSPECTION AT 11,000 MILES AND THE LOCAL TECHNICIAN INFORMED HIM THAT THE REAR BRAKES PADS WERE DEFECTIVE. THEY WERE REPLACED BY A FORD DEALER AND THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED. ONE YEAR LATER THE PADS WERE DEFECTIVE AGAIN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TSB 10021463 WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE; THEREFORE, IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,590. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,652. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WOULD SPORADICALLY SURGE BEFORE INDEPENDENTLY SHUTTING OFF. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
MY '05 FORD FREESTYLE AWD SHOWED UNEVEN TREAD WEAR AT 10,000 MILES, DEALER DID A REALIGNMENT AT N/C. TIRES ROTATED AS RECOMMENDED. AT 22000 TIRES ARE COMPLETELY WORN. FORD DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. DEALER UNABLE/UNWILLING TO ASSIST. TIRES BEING REPLACED TOMORROW WITH GOODYEAR ASSURANCE LINE, TIRE PEOPLE WILL EXAMINE THESE CONTINENTALS FOR DEFECTS/EXPLANATION OF PREMATURE WEAR, BUT I DON'T EXPECT ANY RECOMPENSE. I'LL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES.
REAR BRAKES GET VERY HOT DURING NORMAL DRIVING AND SMELL LIKE THE PADS ARE BURNING. ALSO, A LARGE AMOUNT OF BRAKE DUST COVERS THE REAR WHEELS. *AK
I OWN A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE WHICH I BOUGHT BRAND NEW. IT WAS ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTACT TOURING TIRES, 215-65-17 - CT95. THE FOUR TIRES WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT WITH 19,000 MILES. CONTINENTAL STATED THERE WAS NO TREAD LIFE WARRANTY FOR THESE TIRES. FORD INSISTED THIS WAS A PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED BY CONTINENTAL. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINS ABOUT THOSE TIRES OVER THE INTERNET. IT SEEMED THERE WAS A DESIGN OR QUALITY PROBLEM WITH THIS PRODUCT. *AK
STARTED CAR AND WAS LEAVING RESTAURANT PARKING SPACE. ENGINE REVVED UP SEVERAL HUNDRED RPM AND CAR WAS LURCHING FORWARD AS I TRIED TO HOLD IT BACK WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. PEOPLE WERE WALKING IN FRONT OF CAR HEADING TOWARD RESTAURANT. CAR WAS LURCHING FORWARD TOWARD THEM AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO KEEP CAR FROM MOVING FORWARD. THE RPM'S WOULD GO HIGH ENOUGH TO MAKE THE FRONT TIRES SPIN A LITTLE BIT ON THE PAVED PARKING LOT. I KILLED THE IGNITION TO MAKE CAR STOP. THE PEOPLE THOUGHT I HAD BEEN TRYING TO ASSAULT THEM WITH THE CAR BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT ON THEM TO WALK ACROSS THE PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF ME. MECHANIC CHECKED CAR OUT AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THIS HAPPENS PRETTY FREQUENTLY. IT IS WORSE WHEN AIR CONDITIONER IS ON AND IS MOST COMMON WHEN IN PARKING LOTS OR DRIVEWAY WHEN NOT EVEN USING THE ACCELERATOR. *TR

FORD STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE AMONG THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE AND IS NOT TAKING ANY CORRECTIVE ACTION. THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS WERE ALSO WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HAVE A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE WITH 23,200 MILES WHEN A DRAGGING SOUND CAME FROM THE REAR BRAKES - BY THIS TIME IT WAS TO LATE. REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $353.00. WE QUESTIONED THAT THIS SEEMED PREMATURE - WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER THIS IS NORMAL, THEY SEE IT ALL THE TIME. I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE OTHER COMPLAINTS - I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. *JB

I PURCHASED A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE WITH 30,000 MILES IN DEC 2006. AT 38,000 MILES I NOTICED THAT THE PAINT ON THE BACK OF THE WHEEL FLARES AND ALONG THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE WAS DULLING. IT LOOKED TO ME LIKE THE TIRES WERE CAUSING DIRT AND MUD TO SAND BLAST THESE AREAS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS OUT WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I AM LEASING A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE AND LAST APRIL 20/07 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO WITT LINCOLN MERCURY IN ESCONDIDO, CALIF. FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE RECORDED MILEAGE WAS 15,524 MILES AND AFTER THE SERVICE WAS DONE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR BRAKES REQUIRE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION AS THE ROTORS NEED TO BE MACHINED AND THE PADS ARE WORN OUT. I FEEL THAT FORD MOTOR CO. SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM THAT THE BRAKES PREMATURELY WORE OUT. I STARTED THE LEASE LAST JULY 2005 AND I DO MOSTLY CITY DRIVING. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE THIS KIND OF CAR PROBLEM WHERE THE BRAKES WORE OUT TOO SOON! *JB
WE TOOK ARE 2005 FORD FREESTYLE IN FOR WARRANTY WORK . THE CAR HAD A NOISE IN THE REAR OF CAR. FORD SAY THE BRAKES ARE DOWN TO METAL TO METAL . THE CAR HAS 31614 MILE ON IT THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY. FORD SAYS THEY ONLY WARRANTY BRAKES FOR 12 MONTHS. I TOOK THE CAR TO FORD TO BE REPAIRED AND THEY HAD TO ALSO REPLACE THE BRAKE CALIPERS ON THE REAR BECAUSE THEY ARE BAD ALSO I HAVE HAD THE CAR 16 MONTHS AND DRIVEN THE CAR 26119 MILES. FORD HAS HAD TO TSB ON THIS THE FIRST ONE IS 06-22-17 THE LAST ONE 07-5-9. REAR BRAKES DRAG , NOISE,DUST, AND/OR PREMATURE PAD WEAR. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAD NO BRAKE LEFT ON THE REAR OF THIS CAR . METAL TO METAL. I HAVE TRIED TO TALK TO SOMEONE AT FORD I HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH THEM THREE TIME WITH NO HELP . *JB
I WANTED TO RESPOND TO THE PERSON UNDER THE MISCELLANEOUS AREA OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WRENCH LIGHT COMING ON AND THEIR VEHICLE STALLING. I EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM A YEAR AGO. I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD I WAS NOT USING PROPER MOTORCRAFT FILTER AND PAID FOR THE SERVICE AFTER MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 MORE TIMES EACH TIME CALLING THE SERVICE DEPT AND EACH TIME IT WAS INSPECTED BY DEALER WHO FOUND NO PROBLEM. FINALLY, AFTER EXPLAINING EXACTLY WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING - ONLY IN STOP AND GO SITUATIONS - IN AND OUT OF PARKING SPACES AND SUCH AND RETURNING IT TO THE SHOP ONE MORE TIME DID THEY FIND A PROBLEM. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY AND I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM SINCE. *TR
WE BOUGHT OUR 2005 FORD FREESTYLE NEW IN JUNE OF 2005 AND CURRENTLY HAVE 50,000 MILES. WE ARE ON THE THIRD SET OF REAR BRAKE PADS AND ARE TRYING TO WORK WITH OUR DEALER ON GETTING THIS SET REPLACED AGAIN. AFTER LOOKING THROUGH THIS SITE AND MANY OTHER CONSUMER FORUMS, THIS SEEMS TO BE A REAL PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP GIVES US THE SAME SPEECH AND WE WERE TOLD THE LAST TIME THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED, THAT AFTER 36,000 MILES, THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY.*AK

2005 FORD FREESTYLE IS HAVING INTERMITTENT DASH BOARD PROBLEMS. GAUGES ON DIGITAL DASHBOARD WILL GO TO ZERO FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE DRIVING. SPEEDOMETER WILL SHOW ZERO EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT 60 MPH. *TR

OUR 2005 FREESTYLE HIT 36K MILES AND IMMEDIATELY THE BACK PADS/ROTORS WENT BAD. GRINDING NOISES TOOK ME INTO NTB. THEY STATED THAT THE CALIPERS WERE FROZEN AND TO GO TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WEREN'T BUT THE PADS/ROTORS WERE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED/RESURFACED - AT $475! THIS IS CRAZY. AT 36K MILES WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES? PREMATURE WEAR & POSSIBLE BRAKE FAILURE DOES NOT SIT COMFORTABLY WITH ME - ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DEALER SWEARS UP AND DOWN THAT THE CALIPERS ARE FINE. *JB

3/28/2007 WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 65 THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER, I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RE-STARTED IT AND THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME. SECOND WAS YESTERDAY MY WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR DID THE SAME THING. ALSO 3/25/2007 WHILE PULLING INTO MY SUBDIVISION I MADE A LEFT TURN AND GOT TO ABOUT 15 MPH AND THE CAR SHUTTERED AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, I DROVE IT WITH ALMOST NO POWER FOR ANOTHER 15 YARDS TO MY DRIVEWAY, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND NO PROBLEMS. I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED ON 3/23/2007 WITH 55000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT. *JB

THE REASON I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY HAZARD IS THAT I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY VEHICLE THAT HAS TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKES REPLACED AT SUCH LOW MILES. THUS, WHEN THE GRINDING NOISES APPEARED AT LESS THAN 20,000 MILES, I NEVER EVEN GUESSED THAT IT MIGHT BE THE BRAKES. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE AND NO ONE CAN BELIEVE THAT REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT THAT LOW A MILEAGE TOTAL. THERE IS A TSB OUT THAT SAYS THAT FORD UNDERSTANDS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING AND WILL REPLACE THE BRAKES AT NO COST IF THEY WEAR OUT AT LESS THAN THE REGULAR WARRANTY PERIOD. HOWEVER, IF THIS IS SUCH AN ISSUE THAT THEY HAVE A TSB OUT ON IT, I BELIEVE THEY UNDERSTAND IT IS AN ISSUE AND MANY PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE BRAKES ON A NEW CAR SO THEY MAY CONTINUE TO DRIVE IN THE HOPES IT IS NOT A BIG ISSUE. *JB
JUST GOT A REPAIR BILL FOR MY 2005 FORD FREESTYLE TO REPLACE REAR ROTORS AND PADS - CAR HAS ONLY 22,000 MILES AND IS NOT BEING DRIVEN IN ANY UNUSUAL MANNER. PREVIOUS FORD PRODUCTS WERE FORD WINDSTAR AND F150 BOTH REQUIRING BRAKE SERVICE AROUND 90,000 MILES. PREMATURE WEAR OF REAR FREESTYLE BRAKES IS REFERENCED ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THERE APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW WITH CAR THAT DOES NOT MEET CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS. DEALER SERVICE MANAGER CLAIMED > THAT FORD DESIGNED BRAKES TO MINIMIZE FRONT NOSE DIVE DURING BRAKING. > WHAT COULD BE THE REASON FOR THIS? WHY DID ALL MY OTHER FORD PRODUCTS NOT > NEED THIS? DOES IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH SAFETY CRASH RATINGS? > I FEEL THIS IS A TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE DESIGN SINCE I WILL NEED TO CHANGE > BRAKE PADS ON AN ANNUAL BASIS. FORD CUSTOMER CARE JUST SAID THIS WAS NORMAL AND HAD NO ALTERNATIVE RATIONALE. IT WOULD SEEM THAT FORD SHOULD AT LEAST PROVIDE SOME REASONABLE RATIONALE FOR THE PREMATURE WEAR. *JB
2005 FORD FREESTYLE, PURCHASED NEW. FORD HAS SERVICED AS WELL AS NYS INSPECTIONS. AT 30,000 MILE SERVICE THE REAR BRAKES HAD LITTLE DISC PAD LEFT,REAR ROTORS WERE WARPED BEYOND REPAIR, CALIPER FROZEN. FORD SAID NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY (BUMPER TO BUMPER 3 YRS 36,000 MILES) AND HAD TO PAY $475.00. CALIPER NOW FROZEN AND AGAIN NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. CALLED FORD AT 800-392-3673 AND CONFIRMED PROBLEM THAT REAR BRAKES FAILED BEFORE FRONT BRAKES, THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW, BUT REFUSED TO COVER WITH WARRANTY, AND SAID TO KEEP MY RECEIPTS IN CASE A RECALL WAS ISSUED.

FORD/DEALER ONLY AGREED TO REPLACE REAR PADS AND MACHINE REAR ROTORS WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING TO CORRECT DESIGN FLAW, AND THEY REQUIRED I PAY A PART OF THE COST OF THE REPAIR. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 75-80 JUST 5 MPH OVER THE SPEED LIMIT HERE IN FLORIDA. I HEARD A DUNK,DUNK,DUNK THEN A HUGE THUMP AND THE CAR WENT SWERVING OUT OF CONTROL, I TRIED TO GET TO THE LEFT MEDIAN..I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE... I WOUND UP DOING A 360 DEGREE CIRCLE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC THEN ANOTHER ONTO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. I WAS DRIVING MY FATHERS FREESTYLE. THE TIRE, EXPLODED, THERE ARE ONLY 8000 MILES ON THE CAR, ITS ALMOST A YR OLD. THINGS LIKE THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING. I NORMALLY DRIVE A 1996 ESCORT WHICH I HAVE ALSO HAD MANY MANY PROBLEMS WITH. I AM UNHAPPY WITH FORD AND ANGRY WITH THE WAY THEY BRUSH IT OFF. THEY SAY OH, IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE TIRE COMPANIES FAULT. DON'T THEY TEST DRIVE THEIR VEHICLES BEFORE THEY PUT THEM ON THE MARKET? AT 15,000 MILES SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE DEALER FOUND OUT THAT BRAKES WERE WORN TO THE METAL AND THAT BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. DEALER STATED THAT CAR MUST HAVE BEEN DRIVEN WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE. DEALER COULD NOT FIND FAULTY PART FOR IT TO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS AND COSTS NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY. SENT A LETTER TO FORD. THEY CALLED TO SAY NOTHING COULD BE DONE. SENT ME BACK TO DEALERSHIP. ONE WEEK LATER THE BRAKES WERE BURNING. DEALERSHIP THIS TIME REPLACED PADS WITH UPDATED PADS WITH NO COSTS. *JB
LEAKS WATER FROM WET WEATHER INTO VEHICLE'S CARGO AREA AND FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR AREA. FREEZING TO SUB-FREEZING TEMPS CAUSE WATER TO FREEZE CARPET AND ANYTHING IN CAR WITH MOISTURE ON IT. FIRST TIME THIS WAS APPARENT, CAR WAS IN FOR RECALL ON DOOR LATCHES; AT THAT TIME, WE TOLD DEALER ABOUT WATER LEAK IN CARGO AREA AFTER IT HAS JUST RAINED - THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE LEAK, AND THEREFORE NEVER FILED WITH FORD. SECOND TIME CAR WAS IN WAS AT THE END OF DECEMBER '06 FOR A WATER LEAK ON FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR. DEALER SAID THEY SPENT MORE THAN AN HOUR WATER TESTING UNTIL IT DID LEAK IN THEIR PRESENCE. SAID THEY REMOVED AREAS OF CARPET AND DOORS WHERE WATER WAS COMING IN, FIXED SEAL, AND DRIED OUT CARPET BEFORE RE-INSTALLING AND GIVING CAR BACK TO US (KEEP IN MIND THIS IS ROUGHLY 11-12 TOTAL HOURS OF LABOR). A MONTH LATER, WE ARE IN THE SAME POSITION AFTER A LIGHT SNOW (1-2"). THIS TIME, HOWEVER, THE FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR AND REAR CARGO AREA ARE SOAKING WET. DEALER HAS HAD CAR FOR ALMOST A FULL WEEK. ORDERED NEW CARPET FOR FRONT AND REAR, REPLACED ANY PANELS AND ELECTRONICS ASSOCIATED WITH WHERE WATER WAS COMING IN, SAID THEY HAVE MADE FIXES TO SEALS WHERE WATER IS NOW COMING IN *ANOTHER 12-14 HOURS). STILL WAITING FOR VEHICLE TO BE RETURNED. DEALER SAYS THAT, ALTHOUGH WE HAVE THE HIGHEST END WARRANTY YOU CAN BUY THROUGH THEM AT 7 YEARS/75,000 MILES, THIS PROBLEM WILL MORE THAN LIKELY NOT BE COVERED BEYOND THE 3YR/36,000 MILE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. WE ARE TALKING ROUGHLY 25 HOURS OF LABOR AT ALMOST $100/HR. I CANNOT AFFORD $2,500/MONTH. WHAT IS FORD GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS? MY FORD DEALER REPLACED THE KIND OF SENSOR/BRAIN AS THEY CALLED IT. HAS BEEN WORKING SENSE. 2) AIR COMPRESSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED NOW. I THOUGHT THE A/C WASN'T BLOWING COLD ENOUGH, I FINALLY TOLD IT TO A REPAIR SHOP I TRUST AND HE SAID HE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND I HAD ANY COOL AIR AT ALL. 3) BRAKES, REAR MOST OF ALL, HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. WAY TOO SOON AND ANYTIME IT'S WET THEY SQUEAL LIKE CRAZY. GUESS I NEED TO HAVE THEM CHANGED AGAIN. 4) TRANSMISSION ISSUES ARE STARTING NOW. I ROUGHLY HAVE 90K MILES AND HOPED THIS WOULD BE MY LAST CAR FOR SEVERAL MORE YEARS. THE REAR CARGO AREA ON MY 2005 FORD FREESTYLE BEGAN TO LEAK SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE FROM BOB BELL FORD. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALER 4 OR 5 TIMES. THEY KEEP IT FOR A WEEK OR MORE. REPLACE THE CARPET. REMOVE THE MOLD THAT HAS BEGUN TO GROW IN THE REAR CARGO AREA. REPLACED THE CARPETS AND MASK THE SMELL WITH DEODORIZER. THE WORK IS ALWAYS PERFORMED BY A SUB-CONTRACTOR HIRED BY FORD. THE COMPANY VISITS THE DEALER HERE IN MARYLAND TWICE A WEEK, WHICH MAKES YOU WONDER HOW BAD THE FORD PRODUCTS ARE. THE PAPERWORK IS WRITTEN SO THAT YOU CAN'T TELL WHAT REPAIRS IF ANY ARE EVER CONDUCTED. THE DEALERS PAPERWORK PROVIDES LITTLE OR NO DETAIL AND WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE REPAIRS, THE SERVICE WRITER ACTS AS IF YOU ARE BOTHERING HIM FOR THE DETAILS. OF COURSE THE VEHICLE HAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AGAIN FOR MORE WATER LEAKS. THE FORD CORPORATE COMPLAINT OFFICE HAS BEEN CONTACTED REGARDING THE PROBLEM. THEY ACT AS IF THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. WE WERE ADVISED THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL US BACK IN TWO DAYS. BOTH OFFICE AND HOME NUMBERS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TO FORD IN HOPES OF A REAL CONTACT WITH SOMEONE THAT CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. SO THEY KEEP CALLING THE HOUSE AND LEAVING A MESSAGE. YET THEY WILL NOT RETURN THREE VOICE MAIL MESSAGES THAT I LEFT TODAY. FORD DID OFFER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT AS SOON AS THEY OFFERED IT THEY STATED THEY COULDN'T MAKE THE OFFER AND IT WOULDN'T COVER THE WATER LEAK ANYWAY. HOW STUPID. WE ARE VERY FRUSTRATED WITH BOB BELL FORD, FORD AND THE LOCAL GLASS REPAIR COMPANY. WE KNOW THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS FOR MANY FREESTYLE OWNERS CROSSING SEVERAL YEARS 2005-2007. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT MOVED THE GEAR SHIFTER TO REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED BACKWARD ABNORMALLY AS THE CHECK TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE CONTINUED.
