WHILE DRIVING THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPENED, ALMOST EXPELLING MY CHILD HAD HE NOT HAD A SEAT BELT ON. THE DOORS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN FREEZING UP AND EITHER DON'T CLOSE OR POP OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I SAW THERE WAS A RECALL THAT IS NOT VIN PERTINENT BUT IS ON THE FORD FREESTYLE FOR THESE FREEZING DOOR LATCHES. WHEN I CALL FORD THEY TELL ME THE VIN HAS NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS...CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE AND FAIL SAFE MODE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS UNKNOWN. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
2005 FORD FREESTYLE SEL FWD - 116K MILES, VERY GOOD CONDITION, 2ND OWNER. ON 11/1, I REQUESTED MECHANIC TO DO A FULL INSPECTION ON THE CAR, NO KNOW ISSUES, BUT JUST TO CHECK IT OVER BEFORE WINTER. UPON INSPECTION, MECHANIC FOUND THE ENGINE CRADLE SUBFRAME TO BE RUSTED/ROTTED BEYOND REPAIR, AND SAID CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. ONLY THIS CRADLE SHOWED SIGNIFICANT RUST, IN FACT THE ORIGINAL EXHAUST SYSTEM IS STILL ON THE CAR (THAT IS MOST SHOCKING, THE EXHAUST OUT LASTED THIS SUBFRAME). AS I STATED THE CAR IS IN FANTASTIC SHAPE, AND RUNS GREAT. WE EITHER HAD TO FIX OR SCRAP THE CAR AS IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ESTIMATES FROM DEALERS TO REPLACE WERE AROUND $3000. WE ENDED UP USING A LOCAL BODY SHOP WE TRUST TO REPLACE THE SUBFRAME WITH A USED / RUST FREE ONE FOR $1150. I RETAINED THE SUBFRAME AND CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE ALSO TO ISSUE A COMPLAINT. I REALIZE THE CAR IS 10 YEARS OLD WITH OVER 100K MILES ON IT, BUT GIVEN ITS GREAT CONDITION (IF YOU SAW PICTURES YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND) THERE IS NO ACCEPTABLE REASON FOR A SUBFRAME, THAT HOLDS ALL THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING TO BE RUSTED/ROTTED TO THE POINT OF BEING UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. THE ODOMETER WAS READING OFF THE CHARTS, BUT THE ENGINE SEEMED - AT LEAST SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS - WORKING JUST FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN WARM WEATHER (WE LIVE IN UTAH) AND COLD. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO HAPPEN IN ONLY ONE TEMPERATURE AND HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. WE ALSO EXPERIENCE ISSUES WITH THE INTERIOR PANEL LIGHTS NOT WORKING, AS WELL AS, ON OCCASION THE EXTERIOR BRIGHTS DO NOT WORK. THIS HAPPENED TO ME DURING A RAIN STORM AND WAS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. ANOTHER RECENT ISSUE THAT HAS POPPED UP IS THE AWD MALFUNCTION LIGHT APPEARING WHEN NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WRONG. I HAD THE CAR IN PARK, AND WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC, THE LIGHT APPEARED. I WAS NOT GOING OVER 40 MPH AND IT IS AUGUST IN UTAH (NOT RAINY, SNOWY OR ANY KIND OF ELEMENTS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DRIVE IN).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE ABRUPTLY CLOSED WITH FORCE DUE TO THE SUPPORT STRUTS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE DEALER STATED THAT BOTH STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NEEDED TO BE ORDERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
VECHICLE WAS PARKED, NO ONE IN OR NEAR IT WHEN ALL BY ITSELF THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED TO TURN OFF AND ON RAPIDLY AT ABOUT HALF BRIGHT FOR ABOUT 30 TO 40 SECONDS I HAD THE CONTROL THAT UNLOCKS AND LOCKS THE DOORS IN MY POCKET. I DON'T HAVE A CAR STARTER FOR THIS CAR. I USED THE LOCK UNLOCK REMOTE AND THE PROBLEM STOPED. I HAVE NEVER NOTICED IT BEFORE AND I BOUGHT THE UNIT NEW IN 2005. I THINK THAT THE PROBLEM IS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE AND I'M WONDERING IF A FIRE COULD BE STARTED BY THIS PROBLEM, AND IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT TO DO TO FIX IT'
IT FIRST STARTED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND MY WRENCH LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON. MY VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO "SAFE MODE"WHICH CAUSED MY CAR TO STOP LOSING ALL POWER. I LOOKED UP MY VIN NUMBER AT FORD.COM AND IT SAID A RECALL IS IN ACTION BY THE COMPANY TO REMEDY A SAFETY OR EMISSIONS-RELATED CONCERN RELATED TO A VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT FORD AND THE CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND WAS TOLD ITS NOT A RECALL IT WAS UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT EXPIRED IN MAY 31ST 2013. JUST ON OCT 4 2014 I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH MY WIFE AND CHILDREN AND THE CAR SUDDENLY PUT IT INTO SAFE MODE AND ABRUPTLY STOPPED! IM SORRY BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE A SAFETY CONCERN TO ME AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY INFANT SON HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL AFTER CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY. IT WAS A LIGHT DRIZZLE FOLLOWING A PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN. THE ROADS WERE WET BUT THERE WAS NO STANDING WATER. CARS WERE BRAKING IN FRONT OF ME TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. I APPLIED MY BRAKES, THE PEDAL WAS UP, BUT THERE WERE NO BRAKES. THE VEHICLE DID NOT EVEN BEGIN TO STOP. I PUSHED THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN AND THERE WAS STILL NO BRAKING OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHO REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM. NOTE: THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED! I HAD TO TAKE MY INFANT BACK TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE TO HAVE HIM CHECKED OUT BECAUSE OF THE PRIOR SURGERY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CAR DID NOT THROW ANY CODES AND THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO TEST THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND NO WAY TO PROVE THAT THEY FAILED. I AM A VERY CAUTIOUS DRIVER, ALWAYS LEAVE PLENTY OF SPACE TO STOP BETWEEN ME AND THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT OR MOVING VIOLATION, AND YET THE RESPONSE THAT I RECEIVED FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS "WELL THE FRONT ENDS ARE MADE TO COLLAPSE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT".. THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE. THE ACCIDENT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED. THERE WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH SPACE TO STOP, I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES, AND DID SO MULTIPLE TIMES TO TRY TO GET THEM TO WORK (SO OBVIOUSLY I HAD PLENTY OF SPACE TO STOP) AND YET THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN SLOW DOWN. A VEHICLE SHOULD STOP WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES, ANTI-LOCK MODE OR NOT! SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN MY INFANT SON!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SLOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WHILE THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED RANDOMLY IN THE WINTER MONTHS. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED SHORTLY AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FOUR CHILDREN THE WRENCH LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON & MY CAR WAS PUT IN "SAFE MODE" WHICH CAUSED MY CAR TO STOP ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER LOSING ALL POWER. I WAS VERY CLOSE TO BE SLAMMED INTO FROM BEHIND. HAD ENGINE LIGHT THAT CAME ON READ & WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK OPEN. TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY. DROVE NORMAL FOR A WEEK & NOW REPEATED SAME ISSUE. CAR DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE & GOES INTO SAFE MODE SHUTTING DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES. ALSO SITTING IN LINE AT MY CHILDREN'S SCHOOL THE CAR SURGED FORWARD WHILE FOOT ON BRAKE ALMOST HITTING CAR IN FRONT OF ME. FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY COVERED A CLEANING & NOT REPLACEMENT OF A PART THEY KNOW IS FAULTY. *TR
AWD MALFUNCTION LIGHT STARTED COMING ON OCCASIONALLY LAST FALL. IT IS NOW ON ALL THE TIME. TALKED TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD IT WAS EITHER A SENSOR OR A WHEEL BEARING. IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE WHEEL BEARING RIGHT NOW. *TR

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSE THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL. ADDITIONALLY, THE TIRES WERE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AGO, I FILED A COMPLAINT REGARDING A SURGING WITH MY FORD FREESTYLE. WE HAD OUR VEHICLE SERVICED AND THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED. THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED FOR A WHILE, BUT WE RECENTLY STARTED EXPERIENCING ISSUES AGAIN. THIS TIME THE FREESTYLE WOULD LOSE ACCELERATION, THE RPMS DROPPED, AND A WRENCH-SHAPED WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATED. AT FIRST IT SEEMED TO BE AN ISSUE ONLY WHEN CRUISE CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED, BUT HAS SINCE HAPPENED DURING NORMAL DRIVING. WE TOOK OUR CAR INTO THE DEALER, AND THEY COMPLETELY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY FOR A TOTAL OF $900, BUT WE ARE STILL HAVING ISSUES. *TR
CAR WAS FINANCED AND PURCHASED USED FROM AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER IN 2007 @ APPROX. 64K MILES. PREVIOUS OWNER WAS REGISTERED AS FORD MOTOR CO., INDIANA. ON 12 JUN 2014, WITHOUT WARNING, THE CONTINUOUSLY-VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) FIRST SHOWED SIGNS OF A PROBLEM: FAILING TO SHIFT OUT OF LOWER SPEED GEAR FROM A STOP TO HIGHER GEARS DURING TRAVEL. PROBLEM WAS REMEDIED TEMPORARILY BY SHIFTING FROM D TO R AND BACK TO D WHILE STOPPED. THE PROBLEM RECURRED SPORADICALLY, BUT WITHIN LAST WEEK FREQUENCY OF PROBLEM HAS INCREASED WHILE AWAITING SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THIS MORNING, 13-AUG-2014, TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND FAILED TO ENGAGE IN ANY FORWARD GEAR WHILE STOPPED AT INTERSECTION, RESULTING IN A COMPLETE LOSS OF FORWARD PROPULSION. PROBLEM REMEDIED BY SHIFTING FROM D TO R AND BACK TO D, WITH SIGNIFICANT DIFFICULTLY. SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATES THAT CVT FAILURES IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL ARE COMMON AND RECOMMENDS REPLACEMENT OF TRANSMISSION WITH REBUILT (AS TRANSMISSION IS NO LONGER MANUFACTURED BY FORD). MOREOVER, ONLY FORD CAN PERFORM THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED DURING ANY OF THESE EVENTS. COST OF REPAIR WILL EXCEED VALUE OF CAR. $5800 OR MORE VERSUS $3600 TRADE-IN OR INSTANT-CASH OFFER PRICE $1500. AC COMPRESSOR FAILURE AND REBUILD (INCLUDING REAR AC) IN 2012 COST $875. *TR
THE PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND THE THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER BUT THEY ONLY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY WHEN IT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE LAST EVENT WAS IN AUGUST 1 WHEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE FAIL SAFE MODE CAME UP AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST THE POWER AND WOULDN'T RUN FASTER THAN PROBABLY 0.1 MILE PER HOUR. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME I WAS WITH MY KIDS IN A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STOP RUNNING. THANK GOD I HAD A CHANCE TO STEER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2005-2007 FREESTYLE, THIS IS A SUPER SAFETY ISSUE AND NOBODY IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHEN MY CAR STOPPED I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT ON THE BACK WITH A WORST OUTCOME. I GOT A TOW TRUCK AND THEY TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER. THOSE PEOPLE ARE NOT HELPFUL AT ALL AND TREATED ME WITH A BAD ATTITUDE. VERY EXPENSIVE TO CHANGE THAT'S WHY FORD IS NOT GETTING INVOLVED AND ONLY OFFERED TO CLEAN THE PART IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, KNOWING THAT WOULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE BODY PART BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT THAT THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE. *TR
CARS RUNS FINE WHEN COLD OR EARLY IN THE MORNING AFTER FEW MINUTES WRENCH LIGHT GETS ON AND TRANSMISSION START TO MAKE NOISE WHEN SHIFTED AND WON'T ACCELERATE WELL, RUNS BUT ENGINE STAY AT HIGH RPMS , IF I TURN IT OFF FOR FEW SECONDS WRENCH LIGHT COME OFF AND RUNS FINES BUT AFTER FEW MINUTES RUNNING WRENCH LIGHT COME ON AND THE PROBLEM AGAIN . *TR

WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON THE CAR DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE & GOES INTO SAFE MODE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REPLACED BUT IT WAS REPLACED FEW YEARS AGO. *TR
LUNGES FORWARD OR BACKWARD WHEN PUT IN TO DRIVE OR REVERSE .CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM COMES ON AND OFF AS IT PLEASE. I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED OUT 4 DIFFERENT TIMES BUT NO PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN FOUND. THE NEXT ISSUE IS NOW IT IS DISPLAYING THE WRENCH LIGHT AND SAYS ENGINE SAFE MODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I REALLY LIKED MY CAR UNTIL THIS HAS STARTED IT IS MY ONLY CAR AND I HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN I NEED TO TRANSPORT DAILY AND I AM VERY SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR BUT HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR CAME UP WRENCH LIGHT LIT UP WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. *TR
VEHICLE IDLING, VEHICLE PUT INTO REVERSE AND INSTANTLY ACCELERATED BACKWARDS, DEPRESSED BRAKE AND VEHICLE NET INTO A SAFE FAIL MODE. ENGINE LIGHT AND A WRENCH DASHBOARD LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON SYSTEMS CAME UP FINE. PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND LUNGED FORWARD. ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH DASHBOARD LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE WENT INTO FAIL SAFE MODE AGAIN. DROVE VEHICLE HOME IN FAIL SAFE MODE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICING SEPTEMBER 08, 2010 FOR SAME ISSUE, THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A THREE TO FOUR SECOND LAG. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,902.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ROUGHLY 65-70 MPH AND THE FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE CAME ON, WHICH DISABLED MY GAS PEDAL. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, AND HAD TO "COAST" WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON SO I COULD TURN THE CAR OFF WHILE IN PARK ON THE SHOULDER. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT WENT AWAY. THANKFULLY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT! EARLIER IN THE WEEK THIS SAME THINGHAPPENED ON MY WAY TO WORK I WAS ON A 35 MPH RD, AND IT DID THIS, LOST ALL USE OF THE GAS. HAD TO KILL THE CAR AND RESTART BUT THAT TIME THE CHECK ENGINE CODES P2106 AND P061B WERE DRAWN.(NOT THE FIRST TIME I'VE HAD THESE CODES I KNOW THEY MEAN THROTTLE BODY'SBAD) I'VE KEPT MY OBDII SCANNER IN THE CAR CUZ THESE CODES COME UP ONCE A WEEK AT LEAST. I JUST KEEP ERASING THEM, RESTARTING THE CAR, AND DRIVES FINE TILL IT RANDOMLY GOES OFF AGAIN. THUS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE HIGHWAY. IT SCARED ME TO DEATH THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED ON A HIGHWAY. THESE SHOULD BE RECALLED. FORD CLAIMS THERE'S NO SAFETY ISSUE. I BARELY AVOIDED A POTENTIAL FATAL CRASH! *TR

I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY PEOPLE OWNERS OF THE 2005 THROUGH 2007 FORD FREESTYLES WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCES. 75 I HAVE FOUND POSTED ONLINE THEY REPLACED THEIR TRANSMISSIONS AT COST FROM 5600 TO 7800 ONLY TO HAVE THEM FAIL AGAIN IN A SHORT TIME. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON W/O TURNING THEM ON AND THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. ALSO, NO DOORS WERE AJAR AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. AT THE SAME TIME THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED ON AND OFF THREE SEPARATE TIMES WITHIN ONE MINUTE. THIS OCCURRED ON 05/14/2014, 05/17/2014 AND 05/20/2014. ALL INCIDENTS WERE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. LAST WEEKEND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN OUR 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVING FINE WITH NO INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. WE WERE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN WE SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CLUNKING NOISE WE HEARD THE SOUND OF METAL CLANGING AROUND UNDER THE CAR AND HITTING THE ROAD...THE FRONT WHEELS BEGAN SKIDDING AND IT FELT AS IF THE BACK OF THE CAR LIFTED OF THE ROAD. AT THIS POINT I FELT AS IF I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS DRIVING BEHIND US, AS IT IS VERY LIKELY WE WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. I PULLED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR OFF, GOT OUT AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND SAW OIL RUNNING OUT OF THE CAR ONTO THE ROAD. WE THEN NOTICED THE TRAIL OF MANGLED METAL IN THE ROAD. AT THIS POINT I KNEW WE WERE IN BIG TROUBLE. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE AND WERE TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. GARAGE CALLED ON MONDAY ONLY TO TELL US THAT A USED TRANSMISSION FOR THIS CAR IS VERY HARD TO FIND AND THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ONE LOCALLY...AND FURTHER EXPLAINED THAT REPLACING WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION WOULD COST $6000-$7000, MAYBE MORE SINCE THIS TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND WE COULDN'T TURN IT IN FOR A CORE. SOMETHING IN THE TRANSMISSION ACTUALLY CAME APART CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO BIND AND LITERALLY TEAR ITSELF APART. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED FOR $6,500 AND HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR 11 MONTHS. I AM SEEING THAT THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. ON 04/10/2014 AT 10:50AM. I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 22 WEST BOUND. I WAS GOING 65 MPH WHEN THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL THE WRENCH LIGHT THAT IS TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME FLASHING ACROSS DASHBOARD "CHECK TRANSMISSION". THE CAR WENT FROM 65MPH TO 25MPH AND I ALMOST GOT KILLED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER THAT WAS BEHIND ME, BECAUSE OF SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER . THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND I COULD NOT TRAVEL MORE THAN 25 MPH AND THE CAR WAS STUCK IN LOW GEAR AND WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 3 RPM'S. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP THEY RAN IT THROUGH DIAGNOSTIC, THE CODE THAT CAME UP WAS P0715, WHICH IS POSSIBLE MESONTRANICH UNIT ,TSS INPUT WAS ERRATIC, THE CODE WAS CONSIDER INCONCLUSIVE AND DEALERSHIP AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY REFUSED TO FIX AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. ON 04/22/2014 I WAS DRIVING PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE GOING NORTH BOUND ON ROUTE 476. WHEN THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED WITH A SPEED OF 50MPH AND WAS STUCK IN GEAR. I HAD TO PULL OVER WITH 2 YOUNG KIDS IN THE VEHICLE. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON. BESIDES TRACTION LIGHT THAT CAME ON AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON SAYING CHECK TRANSMISSION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. I WAS ABLE TO VIDEO RECORD THE WHOLE INCIDENT TO SHOW HOW UNSAFE THE VEHICLE I WAS IN. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS THE CODES THAT CAME UP WERE P0715, P0701,P2765, THE VEHICLE MOTORMOUNTS WERE BROKEN, WHOEVER FIXED DID AND ILLEGAL FIX, THE MOTOR MOUNTS SHOULD OF BEEN COMPLETELY REPLACED AND THE MOTOR MOUNTS WAS SUPER GLUED BY RTV SUPER GLUE,WHICH IS ILLEGAL. THIS VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED AND THE SOLD ME A VEHICLE WITH AN IMPROPER AND ILLEGAL INSPECTION. THE CAR SHOULD OF BEEN FIXED BY DEALERSHIP AND WAS NOT AND PUT ME AND MY FAMILY SAFETY AT RISK. *TR

WE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED , HELPED FOR A LITTLE WHILE.PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING HAD COMPRESSOR REPLACED, THEN STARTING HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS (FAILURE SAFE MODE ENGINE WOULD SHUT DOWN) WHILE DRIVING . HAD ALTERNATOR REPLACED BECAUSE ALL ELECTRICAL STARTING SHUTTING DOWN AND TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING ALSO TRANSMISSON WAS TRYING TO GO IN REVERSE WHILE DRIVING REVERSE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON VERY DANGEROUS. REPLACED BODY COMPUTER STILL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM TO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT . AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN RELATED TO A DOOR SWITCH BUT AFTER SOME TROUBLE SHOOTING, I FOUND THAT IT WAS RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH. I FOUND THAT WHILE DRIVING I COULD WIGGLE THE KEY AND THE LIGHTS MIGHT TURN ON OR OFF RANDOMLY. THERE WAS NO EFFECT TO THE ENGINE. DURING THE DAY I'D NOT NOTICED IT BUT AT NIGHT IT IS QUITE DISTRACTING. I'VE NOT YET REPLACED THE SWITCH BUT IT IS ON MY LIST. WE RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CAR. IT MAY HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE WITH THEIR CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND THAT INCIDENTS LIKE THIS POSE SERIOUS SAFETY RISKS FOR THE DRIVER/PASSENGERS/OTHERS; HOWEVER, THEY HAVE FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION. ACCORDING TO THE CARFAX ON MY VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE, SO THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AT A LITTLE OVER 142,000 MILES. THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT DARK WHILE DRVING AT NIGHT, HEADLIGHTS INCLUDED. THE GAUGES ALL DROPPED TO ZERO, THEN WENT BACK UP, BACK TO ZERO. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WITHIN A MINUTE. THEN ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE PANEL LIT UP INCLUDING AIRBAG , ABS, EVERYTHING. VERY SCARY TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON FEBRUARY 6, 2014 AND ADVISED THE DEALER DURING A TEST DRIVE THERE WAS A NOISE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOOSE BELT AND STATED TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE AND THEN IT STALLED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT IN OR OUT GEAR. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC THAT WAS RECOMMENDED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD PAY HALF OF THE REPAIR COST; HOWEVER, INSTEAD THE DEALER PROVIDED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT A POTENTIAL CRASH. THE DEALER DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 26, 2014. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE MECHANIC POSSESSION FROM FEBRUARY 26, 2014 TO MARCH 19, 2014; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC WAS REFERRED TO THE CONTACT BY THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER GAVE THE MECHANIC A TRANSMISSION WITH NO WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THERE IS A LIMITED WARRANTY PROVIDED BY THE LOCAL MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,439.

IN DRIVE AT 40 MPH TO 55 MPH THE CAR ALMOST STALLS AND GOES I TO FAIL SAFE MODE. IN FAIL SAFE MODE THE CAR RUNS AT 15 MPH. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
ME AND MY WIFE CARPOOL ON THIRD SHIFT TO OUR JOBS. UPON BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY IN REVERSE, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, AND AN ERROR READING" FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE". I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK, HOWEVER I COULDN'T GO FAST AT ALL NO MORE THAN MAYBE 40. I'M SEEING ONLINE MANY WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL NEED OR HAVE HAD NEW THROTTLE BODY'S PUT IN WITH NO LUCK COMING FROM IT. I'M HOPING THERE'S A RECALL BECAUSE I HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND A WIFE TO GET AROUND IN THIS ONE CAR.I WANNA KNOW WHAT THE RECALL IS ON IT IF ONE AT ALL IS AVAILABLE.
