TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS IN TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO INDEPENDENTLY SURGE FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TOWARDS THE MEDIAN TO AVOID CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STALLED, BUT WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
CAR WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER RUNNING WITHOUT ISSUE FOR 20 MINUTES. WHEN STARTING AGAIN FROM THE PARKED POSITION, CAR LOST ALL POWER STEERING. WITHIN THE 2.1 MILE/6 MINUTE RIDE THAT FOLLOWED, THE POWER STEERING NEVER RETURNED. CHECKING UNDER THE HOOD REVEALED SERPENTINE BELT FAILED IN A CLEAN BREAK. THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVEN PRIOR TO REPLACING THE BELT THE NEXT DAY. ONCE THE BELT WAS INSTALLED, A QUICK RUN THROUGH THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS INCLUDED RUNNING THE A/C. ALL SYSTEMS SEEM FUNCTIONAL UNTIL THE A/C IS ACTIVATED. WITHIN 3 SECONDS OF STARTING A/C, OBSERVED AUDIBLE MOTOR SOUND FOLLOWED BY ALL POWER FAILED (FULL SHUT-DOWN). TURNED OFF ENGINE, REMOVED KEY, WAITED 60 SECONDS, ALL WAS GOOD UNTIL AGAIN TURNING ON THE A/C, WHEN SYMPTOM OF SYSTEM FAILURE (AUDIBLE MOTOR SOUND CHANGE) OCCURRED AGAIN, A/C WAS TURNED OFF RIGHT AWAY, AND ENGINE AND ALL OTHER SYSTEMS OPERATED AS EXPECTED.
I HAVE HAD A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR LURCHING FORWARD AS I AM COMING TO A STOP. THE MOST RECENT THING WAS AS I WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT MY RPMS WENT UP TO 5 AND THE ENGINE GOT REALLY LOUD MY CAR JUMPED FORWARD 3 TIMES ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME! I TOOK IT IN WHERE IT HAS TO SIT AT A DEALER SHIP FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS WITH NO RENTAL COVERAGE. ALSO THEY SAID IT IS UNDER A SPECIAL EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR RPM SURGE BUT IF IT WILL NOT DO IT FOR THEM I HAVE TO PAY $100.00! I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS CAR IS NOT BEING RECALLED!! I READ THAT SOMEONE HIT A PERSON BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEIR HAS BEEN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,889.
CAR JERKED AND HESITATED TRYING TO PUT IN REVERSE. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE. HAD MORE ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING WITH HESITATION AND JERKING. 3 MECHANICS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY CODES ISSUED CAUSED BY ENGINE LIGHT OR IDENTIFY CAUSE OF PROBLEMS. TOOK CAR BACK 2ND TIME TO TRANSMISSION SHOP AND DID AN INDEPTH INSPECTION WHICH FOUND LITTLE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE MECHANIC RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT WAS AN INHERENT ISSUE WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH IS WHY THEY STOPPED MAKING IT. DIFFICULT/EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR DUE TO PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. FROM 2ND MECHANIC THAT IS A MASTER FORD MECHANIC, THIS CAR IS NOT REPAIRABLE. 1 OF THE MECHANICS SAID THAT THESE CARS SHOULD NOT BE SOLD AND ARE, OR SHOULD BE, ON A LIST OF UNSALEABLE CARS BY DEALERSHIPS. WE BOUGHT OURS FROM A DEALERSHIP JUST 9 MONTHS AGO AND NOT OUR MONEY IS DOWN THE DRAIN. DID NOT CHECK RELIABILITY BEFORE BOUGHT VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THIS TRANSMISSION HAS MANY COMPLAINTS. IF THIS WAS SUCH A BAD TRANSMISSION THAT IT IS NO LONGER MADE, WHY IS IT NOT RECALLED AND THE VEHICLES THAT HAVE IT. THIS IS DECEPTIVE PRACTICES FOR DEALERS TO SELL THESE VEHICLES WITH SUCH A KNOWN ISSUE FOR A PART THAT WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL IN ALL VEHICLES AT SOME POINT. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE TRANSMISSIONS ARE NOT ABLE TO MAKE IT TO 100K MILES. THAT IS A BAD TRANSMISSION AND THESE SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE MORE CONSUMERS SPEND THEIR MONEY FOOLISHLY OR SOMEONE IS INJURED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION CAUSES ISSUES WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY THE MECHANICS NOT TO DRIVE IT ON THE FREEWAY SO AS TO PREVENT CRASHES DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SURGING (THE GAS) WHEN I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THIS WEEK THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. THE MOTOR SEEMED TO REV UP, BUT THE CAR DIDN'T GO ANYWHERE VERY QUICKLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND HE DID A "3 PART INDUCTION" ON THE VEHICLE. I AM HOPING THAT THIS WILL CURE THE PROBLEM SINCE WHEN I PUT "3 PART INDUCTION" INTO THE SEARCH ENGINE IN THE COMPUTER I CAME UP WITH A FORD FREESTYLE PROBLEMS PAGE WITH QUITE A FEW OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. SO I SPENT $150 FOR A CLEANING AND IF THAT DOES NOT WORK I UNDERSTAND THAT I'LL NEED TO SPEND OVER $1,000 FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE PARTS. I HAVE ALSO RECENTLY HAD BRAKE ISSUES. I JUST HAD MY BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED 6 MONTHS AGO FOR ALMOST $600. TOOK THE CAR BACK THE OTHER DAY BECAUSE SO MUCH BRAKE DUST ON THE WHEELS. BACK BRAKES ARE GETTING TOO HOT AND GRINDING.I WAS TOLD THE THE HOSES AND THE CALIPERS ON THE BACK ARE BOTH BAD. THEY WANT $800 TO REPLACE THEM - THEN SINCE THE BRAKE PADS HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY THEY WILL REPLACE THEM AGAIN. GOING BROKE OVER HERE.....
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND THE WRENCH INDICATOR CAME ON, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFROMED THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUED WITH FORD FREESTYLE 2005-2006 AND THE CVT TRANSMISSION. I REVIEWED AND IT APPEARS FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE, BUT REFUSES TO RECALL/REPAIR IT. I WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL ACTION IF FORD DOES NOT PURSUE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT'S KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING PLACE, THE CAR LUNGED AND I HAD NO CONTROL. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED IN THE FORWARD GEAR. FINALLY THE BRAKES DID WORK. THIS TIME THE LURCH WAS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH THAT THE CAR ACTUALLY STALLED OUT ON ME. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND STARTED TO DRIVE IT HOME AND THE CAR HAD NO GET UP AN GO. RAN VERY SLUGGISH WITH NO POWER. TOOK THE CAR TO AUTO SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD IT WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP WAS INFORMED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WOULD COST $6200.00. CAN NOT AFFORD THIS, BUT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS WELL AS UNSAFE FOR MY TEENAGE DAUGHTERS TO DRIVE FOR THEIR LEANER'S PERMIT. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS????
AIR BAG LIGHT IS NOW BLINKING AND A KNOCKING SOUND AFTER CAR IS TURNED OFF UNDER THE DASH. *TR
I WAS IN A RED LIGHT AND HAD A CAR IN FRONT AND ON BACK. HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STARTED PLUNGING FORWARD AS IF I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. IT WAS VERY SCARY BECAUSE I HAD MY CHILDREN WITH ME AND I COULD OF HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. I PUSHED THE BREAK HARDER ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THE CAR STOPPED PLUNGING FORWARD, THEN AS THE LIGHT WHEN GREEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS AND THE CAR STARTED ACTING WEIRD IT JUST KEEP PLUNGING FORWARD AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHING ITSELF. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IT HAPPENS WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING ON A STOP OR PARKING OR REVERSING. I'M VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I'VE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH AND THEY'RE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE.. PLEASE FOR THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE PLEASE RECALL THIS CAR. IS A HUGE AND SCARY PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 209,120.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN AUGUST OF 2012. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE RPMS REVVED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN TRAFFIC THE ENGINE STALLS WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER TO CONTROL MY SPEED. AS MY CAR QUICKLY REDUCES SPEED ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE I ATTEMPT TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER OUT OF HARMS WAY. THIS IS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, THE LATEST TIME OUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON. P2104, P2100, P2112, AND P0325 CODES ARE PRESENT. I HAVE SEEN FORD HAS RECALLED 1.6 MILLION ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY IN FORD ESCAPE, MERCURY MARINER, AND MERCURY MILAN VEHICLES WITH THE SAME 3.0L ENGINE AND SAME ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. ALL FORD HAS TO DO IS TO LIST THE FORD FREESTYLE AS ONE OF THESE RECALL VEHICLES FOR THE ETB TO BE REPAIRED/REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY SCARY SITUATION TO BE IN WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND YOU HAVE NO POWER TO YOU ACCELERATOR TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF SPEEDING VEHICLES ALL AROUND YOU!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE THE ETB. *TR

I JUST BUY A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE AND SINCE DAY ONE I HAVE SAVETY PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR , SOME TIME THE SPEED CHANGE WITH OUT MY KNOWLEDGE , IT GOES FROM 40 TO 45 OR TRY TO SPEDD WIT OUT ME HITTING ON THE GAS . *TR EVERYDAY THE CAR STOP AND TURN OFF NO MATTER SPEED I`AM DRIVING ON. THE SIDE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM FROZE AND CAUSED THE DOOR TO OPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL IN NOVEMBER OF 2006; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE REMEDY DID NOT FULLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
I WAS ABOUT TO EXIT THE PARKING LOT AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS TO EXIT IT DIDN'T RESPOND. THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. A PASSERBY TRIED TO HELP ME MOVE IT SINCE IT WAS BLOCKING TRAFFIC BUT IT WOULDN'T MOVE EVEN IN NEUTRAL. IT DID HOWEVER ROLL BACK WITHOUT HAVING TO PRESS THE GAS. THE DAYS BEFORE I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN I WAS PARKED THE CAR WOULD JUMP FORWARD WHILE I HELD DOWN THE BRAKE. A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT AND SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. HE REPLACED IT BUT IT WAS GOOD FOR ONLY A DAY. *TR
THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM KEPT CAR LUNGING- APPLYING THE BRAKES INTERMITTENTLY. FELT LIKE TRANSMISSION WAS TRYING TO SHIFT GEARS BUT SHARP LUNGING. ALMOST CAUSE ACCIDENT AND SHOULD BE OF CONCERN DURING WINTER OR WET DRIVING. THE WRENCH LIGHT LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH AND THIS SHOULD BE OF CONCERN IF SOMEONE IS UNAWARE OF THIS POTENTIAL.
