THE VEHICLE SURGED WHEN COMING OFF OF IDLE, BOTH IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. THIS WAS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN PARKING. THIS HAPPENED IN THE SPRING OF 2009 AND AGAIN IN THE SPRING OF 2011. BOTH TIMES THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH DID SEEM TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. NO ACCIDENT OR INJURY RESULTED FROM THIS PROBLEM. *TR
UNEXPECTED POWER SURGES WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AND WE HAVE HAD A FEW NEAR MISSES. WHILE THE BRAKE IS APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WILL LURCH FORWARD. IT DOES THIS OFTEN, AND SEEMS LIKE IT DOES IT MORE IN HOT WEATHER. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE POWER SURGE, SO THEY COULDN'T FIX IT. I COULD TELL THEY HAD HEARD OF THIS BEFORE, BUT DID NOT WANT TO ADDRESS IT. *TR
IN THE SPRING OF 2009 WE STARTED NOTICING OUR 2007 FORD FREESTYLE WOULD LUNGE WHEN PUT INTO GEAR, AFTER SITTING WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING. WHEN I WOULD BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, IT WOULD SUDDENLY LUNGE BACKWARD, THEN WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE, IT WOULD DO THE SAME THING FORWARD. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY. WE DID HAVE TO PAY A $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. THAT FIXED IT FOR TWO YEARS. NOW, IT'S STARTING DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. WE HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP YET, BUT I'M SURE IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. MY HUSBAND PLANS TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP MONDAY, SO WE CAN GET IT FIXED AGAIN, AS IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE A FEAR OF HITTING SOMEONE WHEN IT SURGES FORWARD AND BACKWARD. I JUST PRAY IT'S NOT SOMEONE ON FOOT. *TR
THE FIRST TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURED WAS SOON AFTER I PURCHASED MY CAR. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK, AND THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD. SINCE THAT TIME, THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CAR HAS ALSO LUNGED BACKWARDS WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. AT TIMES, THIS HAS CAUSED THE CAR TO DIE. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON. *TT
I HAVE A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE AND IN MAY 2008 THE REAR BRAKE PADS WORE OUT AT ONLY 16,500 MILES WHERE WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY PROVISION OF 12 MONTH OR 18,000 MILES. THE MOUNTAIN VIEW FORD SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT FORD HAD A BAD LOT OF BRAKE PADS DUE TO WATER INTRUSION AND THE NEW PADS ARE FAR SUPERIOR TO THE ORIGINAL. THE CAR HAS 31,900 MILES AND THE LEFT REAR BRAKE PADS ARE WORN DOWN TO THE METAL AFTER 15,400 MILES. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ORIGINAL FACTORY FRONT BRAKE PADS HAVE 2/3 TO 3/4 REMAINING LEFT ON THE PADS. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THE REAR PADS ARE WORN OUT WHICH COULD LEAD EXTENDED BRAKING DISTANCES AND POSSIBLE CRASH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINENTAL TOURINGCONTACT AS TIRES, SIZE 205/65R15. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER TIRES BECAME WORN AND THE TREAD BECAME BALD VERY QUICKLY. THE TIRES ONLY HAD 25,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THE DILL VALVE STEMS WERE RECALLED. THE VEHICLE HAS TECH INTERNATIONAL, MODEL TR413 VALVE STEMS. AIR CONTINUED TO LEAK FROM THE TIRES DUE TO THE VALVE STEMS AND THE CONTACT HAD TO REFILL THEM WITH AIR EACH WEEK. SHE PURCHASED TWO REAR TIRES FOR HER VEHICLE. THE TWO FRONT TIRES HAVE NOT YET BEEN REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VALVE STEM EQUIPMENT INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,021 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.

THE BACK WINDOW IN MY '07 FORD FREESTYLE WAS BROKEN FROM BACKING INTO A DUMPSTER IN THE SUMMER OF '07 AND HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL THIS WINTER WITH THE GLASS MYSTERIOUSLY SHATTERING FROM MY APPARENT LASER GAZE! WE HAD THE GLASS REPLACED ONLY 6 WEEKS AGO AND THIS MORNING WALKED UP TO MY CARS BACK WINDOW SHATTERED YET AGAIN FOR NO APPARENT REASON! I CAN ONLY ATTRIBUTE THIS ANOMALY TO A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT, INSTALLERS INCOMPETENCE, PRIOR ACCIDENT PARTS NOT FIXED PROPERLY OR A MANUFACTURERS POOR DESIGN...ALL OF WHICH DO NOT INCLUDE ME THE BUYER! I SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO TOUCH MY VEHICLE FOR THE FEAR IT MIGHT SHATTER AND ALSO IT SHOULDN'T ISN'T GLASS SUPPOSED TO BE MORE DURABLE OUT IN THE AIR IT CAN ONLY BE SOMETHING CONTAINED IN THE BACK WINDOW STRUCTURE ITSELF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS AS LOW AS 10 MPH OR WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT WOULD ABRUPTLY DEPRESS THE BRAKES TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND WHEN DOING SO, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
THE ENGINE SURGES WHEN IDLING AS WELL AS LURCHES FORWARD (WHILE IN DRIVE THRU LANE) AND IT LURCHES IN REVERSE. IT IS A MAJOR CONCERN WHEN PARKING AND BACKING OUT OF SAID LOCATION. IT HAS ALREADY CAUSED ME TO HIT A CONCRETE PILLAR IN THE PARKING GARAGE! *TR
WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE, IT WILL SUDDENLY LURCH BACKWARD WITHOUT ME PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT OCCURS OCCASIONALLY, BUT NOT ALWAYS. I HAVE LEARNED TO ANTICIPATE THIS AND ALWAYS KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE UNTIL I AM SURE THE AREA BEHIND THE CAR IS CLEAR. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SINCE MY DAUGHTER WILL SOON BE DRIVING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR WOULD NOT DISPLAY THE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE FUEL TRANSPONDER WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED THE PART. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE CONTINUOUSLY RECURRED AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSPONDER THREE TIMES BUT TO NO AVAIL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WOULD BE AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE FORWARD OR IN REVERSE DEPENDING ON WHAT GEAR THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE THE VEHICLE IN. THE DEALER DID NOT BELIEVE THE VEHICLE WAS DISPLAYING THE FAILURE THE CONTACT DESCRIBED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION FAILURE WOULD OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVE. THE AIR CONDITIONER BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER REPAIRED NOR DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
THE 2007 FORD FREESTYLE WE BOUGHT ALLOWS EXHAUST FUMES FROM OTHER VEHICLES TO ENTER THE VEHICLE AT OVERWHELMING QUANTITIES. WE LIVE IN A RURAL AREA IN NEW MEXICO AND ARE GRATEFUL WE DON'T HAVE THIS CAR IN A BUSY CITY. THE EXHAUST THAT ENTERS OUR CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS LUCKILY WE HAVE CLEAN AIR AND CAN OPEN WINDOWS ALMOST YEAR ROUND. TURNING OFF THE HEAT OR AIR CONDITIONING IS MOSTLY HELPFUL, BUT IN SOME WEATHER THAT'S ALSO DANGEROUS AND CERTAINLY UNCOMFORTABLE. WE ARE IRRITATED BY THE AC TURNING ON AUTOMATICALLY HOWEVER THAT PRESENTS NO DANGER. FINALLY THE LIGHT BULB FOR THE GAUGES HAS GONE OUT AT JUST 1 YEAR. I'VE BEEN INFORMED THAT IT WILL COST MORE THAN $800 TO FIX THE BULB. FOR A SELF EMPLOYED MOTHER OF 6 THIS IS JUST TOO FAR OUT OF REACH AS IT IS ALMOST TWO MONTHS PAYMENTS. I BELIEVE THIS TOO CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND HALF OF THE SPEEDOMETER AT NIGHT. THE OTHER HALF OF THE SPEEDOMETER IS SOMETIMES LIT AND SOMETIMES NOT MAKING ME QUESTION THE INTEGRITY OF THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM. I'VE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT AND PRAY THAT THESE PROBLEMS DON'T CAUSE ONE. *TR
CAR LUNGES WHEN HOLDING FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHETHER IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE LUNGING IS GETTING WORSE. VERY SCARY. ALSO, AIR CONDITIONING DOES NOT WORK WHEN IDLING OR STOPPED; HAS BEGUN ACTING LIKE IT'S GOING TO DIE AND THEN LUNGING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY NOW. THE CAR HAS DONE THIS SINCE I GOT IT IN 2008, BUT WAS NOT AS SEVERE AND BEING A WOMAN, WASN'T SURE IF THIS WAS JUST HOW THIS CAR ACTED FOR SOME WEIRD REASON. IT IS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE NOW. IT FEELS VERY DANGEROUS. NOW THE AIR CONDITIONER WON'T WORK WHEN CAR IS IDLING EITHER. IT WORKS GREAT WHEN GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR IN COOL OR RAINY WEATHER. MY LIFE IS DRIVING. I AM A HEALTHCARE CONTRACTOR AND MUST DRIVE OFTEN. I NEED MY CAR. I UNDERSTAND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ (A LOT) THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE FILING CLASS ACTION SUITS. I JUST WANT MY CAR FIXED ASAP. *TR
2007 FORD FREESTYLE WITH 30,411 MILES. EQUIPPED WITH CONSTANTLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION, TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS. THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHT HAS COME ON. NORMALLY WHILE CRUISING AT 65 TO 70, THE RPM IS JUST UNDER 2000 RPM. EVERY FEW HUNDRED MILES, THE TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP SO THAT THE RPM AT 65 TO 70 IS ABOUT 3000 RPM. THE ENGINE SPEED STAYS PROPORTIONATE TO THE VEHICLES SPEED AS I DECELERATE RATHER THAN GOING INTO A FREE WHEEL MODE. THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET IT OUT OF THIS MODE IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP OR ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 4500 RPM. AT BEST, THIS IS WASTEFUL OF GAS AND COULD BE DANGEROUS IN BEING REQUIRED TO ACCELERATE TO GET IT OUT OF THIS MODE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO FORD DEALERS. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE CONDITION AND THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES. BECAUSE OF IT. THIS CONDITION HAS NOT BEEN REPORTED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. IN THEIR WORDS, THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. ONE MECHANIC EVEN SAID THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 FREEYSTYLE, I HAVE JUST UNDER 17,000 MILES. MY CONTINENTAL TIRES ARE WEATHER CHECKED. MY FORD DEALER SAYS I HAVE TO PAY 60% OF NEW TIRES ALONG WITH BALANCING, DISPOSAL, ETC. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE TIRES. ALSO, THEY SAY I HAVE TO PUT THE SAME BRAND BACK ON. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
97,000 MILES. I HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY TWICE, NEW TRANSMISSION- HOLE I N THE DRIVE SHAFT. 3 REAR BRAKE JOBS- THE 1ST ON WAS BY RECALL. CRACKED MOTORHEAD 12,000 MILES AFTER NEW TRANSMISSION. THE WHOLE CAR SHAKES, SQUEAKS, AND POPS SINCE THE TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN. FROM THE CV JOINTS AND BACK BRAKES. *TR
HAVE MULTIPLE ISSUE WITH MY FORD FREESTYLE: ENGINE SURGES/LUNGES, THEN STALLS AT LIGHTS OR DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. AFTER EXPLAINING THIS TO FORD BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR DAYS AND CLAIM ISSUE WAS NOT DUPLICATED...WHEN I CAME BACK TO THEM A MONTH LATER I REPLACED THE (ETC) AT FORD'S RECOMMENDATION. THEY CHARGED ME FOR THIS. AFTER ABOUT 3 YEARS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE, I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE MOUNT. THE DASH LIGHTS HAVE BEEN GOING OUT ONE BY ONE. WHEN THE FIRST ONE WENT, IT HAPPENED BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED BUT, FORD CLAIMED IT WASN'T COVERED AND WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $200 TO REPLACE A .10 CENT LIGHT BULB. I TOLD THEM NOT TOO AND THEY STILL CHARGED ME $50.00 FOR THE INSPECTION. THOUGH THE SURGING STOPPED FOR A YEAR AND A HALF AFTER REPLACING THE ETC, THE SURGING/LUNGING HAS RETURNED. AND SINCE THE WARRANTY HAS LONG SINCE EXPIRED AND I AM UNDER-EMPLOYED, I HAVEN'T HAD THE MONEY TO REPLACE THIS PART AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD ALSO RECUR WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY ABOUT TWO YEARS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,185 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THE BACK BRAKES. HAD THOSE REPLACED JULY08. IN JULY09 I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE IT ACCELERATED AND LURCHED FORWARD ALMOST HITTING THE CAR BESIDE ME. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THIS WENT ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THEN EVERY TIME I PUT IT IN REVERSE IT WOULD DIE THEN THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND WAS REPLACED. IN FEB. 2010 I WAS INFORMED THAT MY BACK BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY GONE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ASAP. IN JUNE10 THE CAR STARTED MAKING A FUNNY NOISE IN PARK AND NO LIGHTS IN THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL HAD COME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE INPUT SHAFT BEARING WAS OUT. WHICH MEANS A NEW TRANSMISSION. IN OCTOBER10, AS I WAS TURNING RIGHT INTO AN INTERSECTION DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD THE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. AND, THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AGAIN. *TR
HAVE A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE AND THE PIRELLI TIRES ON IT SEPARATED AT THE TREAD LINE. THERE WAS APPARENTLY A TSB ISSUED ON THIS CAR REGARDING THE SUSPENSION AND DESPITE FREQUENT MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES IN THE PAST TWO YEARS - THIS OCCURRED LESS THAN 3 WEEKS AFTER A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND CHECK UP. *TR

IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO REVERSE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE REVS AND JERKS BACKWARDS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,099 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AT SPEEDS OF 35 MPH, THE ENGINE EXHIBITED A HIGH INCREASE IN RPMS. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY ENGAGE AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, FINALLY ENGAGED. SHE APPLIED MINIMAL PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO DECREASE THE HIGH ENGINE RPMS AND DISCONTINUE THE IDLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,290 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE IN WARM TEMPERATURES, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
CAR SURGES AND "REVS" WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR OR WHEN YOU CHANGE FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, OR DRIVE TO REVERSE. LUNGES FORWARD OR BACKWARDS, HAVE HIT THE FRONT OF THE GARAGE AND HAD SURGES WHERE HAVE BUMPED OTHER CARS (NOT BAD ENOUGH TO FILE A CLAIM). SEEMS LIKE THE ENGINE JUST REVS OR SURGES ALL THE TIME NOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE FORWARD WHILE THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS ACTIVATED, ATTEMPTING TO PARK, OR WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE APRIL 2008. THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIR FILTER TO REMEDY THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 139,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
OWNED VEHICLE FOR THREE YEARS. 4-7 TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ONLY IN CRUISE CONTROL THE CAR WOULD COMPLETELY TURN OFF. SWITCHING THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN STARTING IT AGAIN WOULD RESULT IN NORMAL FUNCTION. GOT SO THAT I DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD AS I COULD COMPLETE THE SWITCH OFF ON IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART WHOLE STILL IN MOTION. OCCURRENCE WAS RANDOM. ALWAYS WEEKS OR MONTHS APART. HAD DEALER CHECK SYSTEM THREE TIMES BUT NO CAUSE COULD BE FOUND. *TR
THE ISSUE OF "UNINTENDED ACCELERATION" HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE WHEN I FIRST USED THE AIR CONDITIONER IN MARCH OF 2008. I RAN INTO THE BACK END OF ANOTHER CAR AT A DRIVE THROUGH FAST FOOD RESTAURANT WHEN THE CAR SURGED AND THE BRAKES DID NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE BACK. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER TO CHECK OUT THE ISSUE. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE TAKEN TO OTHER FORD DEALERS WHO ALSO SAID THEIR WAS NOTHING WRONG - MOST RECENTLY 02/15/11. OVER THE YEARS THE VEHICLE HAS JUMPED OVER PARKING SPACES CONCRETE STOPS. THE "UNINTENDED ACCELERATION" HAPPENS DOZENS OF TIMES EVERY DAY. I WILL NOT LET ANYONE ELSE IN THE FAMILY DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AND FORD DOESN'T CARE!
VEHICLE IS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE LTD WITH CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION. THE HALDEX TRACTION CONTROL COUPLER BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS SEEMS TO WORK NORMALLY WHEN ON SLICK PAVEMENT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL 'ACTIVE' LIGHT ON THE DASH FLASHES TO SHOW IT IS WORKING. HOWEVER, THE SAME LIGHT COMES ON ON DRY PAVEMENT AND WILL NOT GO OFF UNTIL THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. IT MAY COME ON EACH DRIVING CYCLE, OR ONLY OCCASIONALLY OR EVEN WHILE PARKED AND IDLING. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE PUMP IN THE HALDEX COUPLER BUT THE ERRONEOUS TC LIGHT STILL COMES ON AT RANDOM TIMES. OTHERS ON THE FORD FORUMS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND AND OBDII CODE OF P1889 (OIL PUMP FAILURE.) *TR
OUR CAR WAS QUITE NEW. MY DAUGHTERS AND I WERE IN THE CAR AT A STOP LIGHT. SOMEONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME AT THE TIME AND THEY WERE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. WHEN I WAS SLIGHTLY ROLLING FORWARD I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE AND MY CAR JUMPED OR LUNGED FORWARD-CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH 4 KIDS AND 2 ADULTS INVOLVED. THIS IS THE FIRST OF MANY INCIDENTS WITH MY CAR PROACTIVELY MOVING. *TR

SHE NOTICED THE FAILURE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT A DIAGNOSTIC WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
2007 FORD FREESTYLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BOTH HAD THIS HAPPEN AND WE'VE ALMOST HIT PEOPLE AND PROPERTY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY BUT REFUSED TO FIX IT WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW WANTS TO CHARGE US HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX IT. *KB
I OWN A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE SEL FWD WITH 24,000 MILES. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR MY HUSBAND HEARD A STRANGE NOISE WHILE BRAKING. HE IMMEDIATELY CHECKED FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS LOOK GOOD. REAR BRAKES NEED REPLACING, AND ROTORS ARE SEVERELY MARKED AND GROOVED. I CONTACTED OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP (SAME ONE WE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM) AND WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THIS IS HAPPENING ACROSS THE BOARD. I BEGAN READING A FORUM TODAY ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE AND SUDDENLY REALIZED JUST HOW FREQUENTLY THIS IS HAPPENING. (NOT ONLY WITH THE FREESTYLES BUT ALSO WITH OTHER FORD CARS.) WE DRIVE OUR FAMILIES AROUND IN THESE CARS, AND LIKE MINE WE HAD NO WARNING. MY HUSBAND CHECKS THESE TYPES OF THINGS EVERY 1 OR 2 MONTHS AND SO FAR HAS FOUND NO SCARING ON THE ROTORS. ON THE SAME DAY WE HEAR AN UNUSUAL NOISE WE FIND THAT THE ROTORS NEED REPLACING! THIS IS A SERIOUS (AND EXPENSIVE) ISSUE THAT NEEDS ADDRESSING. SINCE FORD IS NOT WILLING TO PUBLICLY ADMIT THE PROBLEM OR OFFER ASSISTANCE IN HAVING IT FIXED, I AM ASKING THAT YOU ALL LOOK INTO THIS. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY DEATHS BEING CAUSED FROM THIS ISSUE. I HAVE HEARD EVERYONE SAY THAT THEY'VE HAD THEIR BRAKES AND ROTORS CHECKED WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS OF HEARING THE STRANGE NOISE. AT A STOP LIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED, MY VEHICLE STARTED TO REV UP VERY HIGH AND THEN STALLED. THIS CONTINUED TO DO THIS EXCESSIVELY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON ONLY AFTER THE PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED. I FELT AS THOUGH THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL LIKE IT WAS GOING TO TAKE OFF WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I WAS AFRAID THAT MY CAR WAS GOING TO HIT ANOTHER CAR. EVERYONE AROUND WAS STARRING AT ME LIKE I WAS SOME CRAZY DRIVER! AFTER HELP ARRIVED, WE TOOK TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A NEW ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WHICH WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. AFTER RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A TSB FOR THIS MATTER AND IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL OR PAY FOR THIS DEFECTED PART. THE TSB NUMBER IS 06-21-1. STILL THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO COVER THIS REPAIR WHICH WILL BE $691 PLUS THE $85 INSPECTION FEE. I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THE FORD FREESTYLES AND THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY MORE FORD OWNERS OUT THERE. THE PART IS GOING TO TAKE AT LEAST A MONTH TO GET. FORD SAYS IT IS ON BACKORDER. WORST OF ALL, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT MY CAR SHOULD BE DRIVABLE UNTIL THEN!!!! MY CAR HAS LESS THAN $50,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT FORD WILL NOT OWN UP TO THIS. ENGINE BEGAN STUTTERING, JERKING AND SEEMED ABOUT TO STALL. A/C WENT SPORADICALLY "WISH, WISH", ETC. AS IF A PERSON BREATHING HARD. LIGHTS DIMMED AND BRIGHTENED ALTERNATELY, LIGHTS ON DASH WENT BLACK, ALL DIALS WENT TO ZERO OR OFF, CHECK BRAKES LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF WITH THE SAME PACE AS LIGHTS. CAR STALLED. RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY BUT WENT THROUGH SAME ROUTINE AGAIN. ENGINE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT AND SKID LIGHT WENT ON AND OFF AT SAME TIME. NO OTHER DASH WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. CONDITION WAS CHECKED AT DEALER BUT NO PROBLEM FOUND; NO CODES DISPLAYED. DROVE ANOTHER 2500 MILES AND NO PROBLEM. JUST STARTED AGAIN 9/4/2007 AND WORSE THIS TIME WITH VERY RAPID AND FREQUENT LIGHTS GOING OUT, STUTTERING OF AND FAILURE OF ENGINE MOMENTARILY. HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT DURING THE ASSEMBLY OF HIS VEHICLE, THE BOLTS TO THE FRONT BUMPER WERE NEVER INSTALLED. THE SECOND TIME HE BROUGHT HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WAS FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE TRANSMISSION PAN IN PLACE WERE ONLY INSTALLED MANUALLY AND NOT WITH THE PROPER MACHINERY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 6,300.
2006 FORD FREESTYLE - WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO ELETRICAL PROBLEM. THE ISSUE: THE INSTRUMENTATION CLUSTER ON THE DASHBOARD IS NOT READABLE AT TIMES WHEN DRIVING DURING THE DAY. THE INSTRUMENTS ARE SET BACK INTO THE DASH, THEY HAVE BLACK DIALS AND ARE NON-ILLUMINATED DURING THE DAY. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IT DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH ACTUAL LIGHT ENTERS THE CAR TO SEE THE SPEEDOMETER AND GUAGES; YOU CANNOT SEE THE GUAGES AT ALL IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. OF COURSE AT NIGHT THERE IS NO PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ARE ILLUMINATED. PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT; THE SPEED OR OTHER CONDITIONS NOT BEING CLEARLY VISIBLE COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE AN INCIDENT.
VEHICLE LUNGES WHEN FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE OR WHEN FOOT IS REMOVED FROM THE BRAKE AT LOW SPEEDS. IT IS MOST OFTEN WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON. IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2007, BUT THE FORD SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT IF IT WAS NOT HAPPENING WHEN THEY DROVE IT. IT HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE AND THE WRENCH/SERVICE LIGHT NOW COMES ON WHEN IT HAPPENS. HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE SHOP WHO SAID THE AC WAS OPERATING OUTSIDE PARAMETERS AND THAT WAS CAUSING THE LUNGING, AND TO HAVE THE COMPUTER RE-FLASHED BY THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON 12/03/2007. I DON'T REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED IT LUNGE, BUT WHEN I DID NOTICE IT I BROUGHT IT TO MY HUSBAND'S ATTENTION, AND BECAUSE HE DIDN'T DRIVE IT, HE BRUSHED IT OFF. WHEN I START THE VEHICLE I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE BEFORE PLACING IT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE BECAUSE IT WILL LUNGE. HOWEVER, RECENTLY MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING IT AND AS WE APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION AND HE STARTED BRAKING FOR THE REDLIGHT, IT LUNGED FORWARD WITH A LOT OF FORCE - IT WAS SCARY! *TR
WE OWN A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. WHEN WE COME TO A STOP, FOR INSTANCE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE WILL REV UP AND THE VEHICLE WILL LURCH FORWARD. THIS OFTEN CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO THEN STALL. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME IF WE ARE RUNNING THE AIR CONDITIONER. NOW WE SHUT THE AIR CONDITIONER OFF WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN. WE HAVE AVOIDED ANY INCIDENTS SO FAR. ALTHOUGH MANY TIMES HAVE HAD TO APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM LURCHING INTO A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. THE VEHICLE WILL STILL LURCH, BUT SO FAR WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP IT IN TIME. AS I SAID BEFORE THE PRESSURE WE HAVE TO APPLY TO THE BRAKES IS EXTREME. THIS ALSO WILL HAPPEN WHEN BACKING UP. I HAD AN ACCIDENT IN A RENTED 2007 FORD ESCAPE IN WHICH THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. IT EXHAUSTED HOT GASSES NEAR MY WRISTS, SUFFICIENT TO MELT THE FLEECE I WAS WEARING AND GIVE ME SECOND DEGREE BURNS ON BOTH ARMS. EITHER THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONED IN DOING SO, OR THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN VENTING THE GASES NEAR THE POSITION WHERE THE DRIVER'S HANDS AND ARMS ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE.
