TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. HE STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO FAIL AT 8,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 30 MPH WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES; HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO FAILURE CODES. THE DEALER UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE, AND CLEANED THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,496. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAR SURGES FORWARD AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHILE COMING TO A STOP. ALSO WHILE STOPPED AND PLACING VEHICLE IN GEAR (FORWARD OR REVERSE). FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB ON THIS WIDESPREAD PROBLEM (TSB 06-21-1), BUT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE GRAVITY OF THE PROBLEM. SCORES OF COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET FORUMS. 12/10/09 MILEAGE: 35,621 DEALER SERVICE FOR RATTLING NOISE IN ENGINE ON COLD START UP, DIAGNOSED AS DEFECTIVE TENSIONER ASSEMBLY, BUT WAS LIKELY THE TRANSMISSION AS SAME NOISE WAS LATER HEARD WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED. 12/08/11 MILEAGE: 53,401 DEALER SERVICE FOR NOISE IN ENGINE AT IDLE - MUCH WORSE WHEN COLD, DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. DEALER REMOVED AND ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND FOUND INPUT SHAFT BEARING SCORES AND INPUT SHAFT SCORED. DIFFERENTIAL SHAFT SPLINES WORN DOWN AND SPLINES ON PTU WORN DOWN AND SEIZED TOGETHER. TRANSMISSION WAS THEN REPLACED WITH REBUILT UNIT. THIS WAS THE SECOND TRANSMISSION INSTALLED IN THIS CAR 3/28/12 MILEAGE: 55,234 DEALER SERVICE FOR EXCESSIVE NOISE IN TRANSMISSION, DESCRIBED AS A GROWL. DIAGNOSED TRANSMISSION CONCERN AND NOISE WAS VERIFIED. WERE ASKED TO RETURN UNIT TO DEALER AT LATER TIME FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS 4/2/12 MILEAGE: 55,338 DEALER SERVICE FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, CORRECTED BY INSTALLING A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS THE THIRD TRANSMISSION INSTALLED IN THIS CAR. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE REPLACEMENT REBUILT TRANSMISSION CARRIED A ONE YEAR WARRANTY 7/1/13 MILEAGE: 63,301 WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET, VEHICLE PRODUCED LOUD CLUNK SOUND AFTER WHICH IT WOULD NO LONGER RESPOND TO THROTTLE INPUTS. VEHICLE COASTED TO STOP. FORTUNATELY, STREET WAS EMPTY. TRANSMISSION WAS INOPERABLE, AS VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD IN ANY GEAR UNDER ITS POWER. VEHICLE COASTED IN ANY GEAR, INDICATING THAT FINAL DRIVE LINE WAS NO LONGER CONNECTED TO TRANSMISSION OR ENGINE. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. DIAGNOSED FAILED TRANSMISSION. DEALER STATED THAT A 4TH TRANSMISSION AND REPLACEMENT OIL COOLER WERE NEEDED FOR $6,900. DURING THE DIAGNOSIS, FRONT WHEELS LOCKED UP RENDERING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AND DEALERSHIP HAD TO DRAG IT OUT OF SERVICE BAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY HAD EXPERIENCED AN ABNORMAL UNINTENDED ACCELERATION FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,691.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE HAS LUNGING/SURGING OF POWER. I CAN HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR WILL SURGE EITHER IN FORWARD OR REVERSE. THIS HAPPENS DAILY. IN PARKING LOTS IS VERY DANGEROUS. YOU ACTUALLY HAVE NO CONTROL WHILE IT IS HAPPENING. FORD SAYS IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE IN THEIR 2006 AND 2007 MODELS ON THE INTERNET. I REALLY WISH THAT THIS MATTER IS RESOLVED WITH AN INVESTIGATION AND A SAFETY RECALL. AFTER WAITING A FEW MOMENTS, THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AND FUNCTION AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE MAY BE DUE TO THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
MY 2007 FREESTYLE LUNGES WHEN I AM STOPPED. I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM SINCE I GOT THE CAR AND FORD SEEMS TO TURN A BLIND EYE. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER, DEFROST, HEATER IS ON. IT IS VERY SCARY AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT GOTTEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS, I HAVE GOTTEN VERY CLOSE. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY, HOWEVER THE MANUFACTURER WENT BANKRUPT SO THE PARTS ARE HARD TO FIND. NOW MY CAR DIED COMPLETELY AND MY MECHANIC IS STATING I NEED A NEW ENGINE. HOW CAN THIS CAR NOT BE RECALLED DUE TO ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES REPORTED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WHILE ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION OPEN UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE11018 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
OUR 2007 FORD FREESTYLE ACCELERATES SUDDENLY; THIS BEHAVIOR IS WORSE WHEN THE A/C IS ON AND THE CAR IS IN REVERSE. THE FEELING IS OF FLOORING THE ACCELERATOR; IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR ME ALREADY HAVING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, I WOULD HAVE HAD A COLLISION WITH THE CAR BEHIND ME. *TR
THE CAR IS LUNGING WHEN I INITIALLY PUT IT IN REVERSE AND WHEN PUT IN DRIVE, IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE DRIVEN IT FOR A WHILE AND MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE. WHILE SITTING PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING FOR A FEW MINUTES, I PUT IT IN DRIVE, THE ENGINE REVVED AND IT LITERALLY LUNGED FORWARD ABOUT 5 FT., I PRESSED THE BRAKE AND IT DIED. IT TOOK A FEW MINUTES TO RESTART IT. I DID TAKE IT TO THE DEALER IN 2009 AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IN MAY OF 2010, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY REPAIRED A HARNESS THEY SAID MAY HAVE BEEN CHAFFED AND POSSIBLY GROUNDING OUT AT THE RIGHT SIDE OF FIREWALL BUT ALSO STATED THAT IT MAY STILL HAVE PROBLEMS AND THEY WERE RIGHT. LAST YEAR, THE LUNGING STARTED AGAIN BUT NOT A LOT AND NOW, THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED ONCE AGAIN. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER FREESTYLE OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I AM CONCERNED THAT I MIGHT HIT ANOTHER CAR WHEN IN A PARKING LOT OR REVERSE INTO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS NOT PUT A RECALL ON WHATEVER IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR

THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION OPEN UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE11018 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS CONTINENTAL T24565R16 TIRES ON A 2007 GMC ENVOY. SHE STATED THAT THE TWO FRONTAL TIRES HAD EXCESSIVE TREAD WEAR. ABNORMAL TREAD WEAR CAN LEAD TO TREAD SEPARATION, WHICH INCREASED THE RISK OF A TIRE BLOW OUT AND A VEHICLE CRASH. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,600. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,100.
I OWN A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE OR LURCH FORWARD WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE AC IS ON AND THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS HOT. THE CAR WILL THEN IDLE LOW AND THEN SHUT OFF. THE WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WILL LIGHT UP. ONCE I RESTART THE CAR, THE WRENCH LIGHT GOES OFF AND THE CAR RUNS NORMAL UNTIL I COME TO A STOPLIGHT AND THEN THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD AGAIN. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE WHEN THE AIR IS ON AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS HOT. *TR
MY FREESTYLE SEL VEHICLE'S (6/2006 PROD. DATE) WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. CAR HESITATES ON SHIFTING, ESPECIALLY DOWNHILL. IN THE MORNING A SLIGHT LURCH IS EXPERIENCED WHEN PULLING OFF BEFORE CAR IS WARMED SUFFICIENTLY. CAR HAS 40K MILES AND HAS A 100K WARRANTY SO THE DEALER ASSESSED THE PROBLEM AT A THROTTLE BODY AND PUT IN A PART ORDER. THE PART NEEDED IS A NON-WATER COOLED ONE WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND UNTIL IS GOES INTO MANUFACTURE IN DECEMBER. I UNDERSTAND THE EARLIER MODEL 500S AND FREESTYLES USE THE WATER COOLED VERSION. THE DEALER MADE US PAY FOR A RENTAL AND WE HAD TO COMPLAIN TO THE SERVICE MANAGER PROFUSELY BEFORE A LOANER CAME IN. SEEMS WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY, I HOPE FOCUSES DON'T HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT IT IS NOT TYPICAL FOR THESE CARS TO SHUTDOWN BUT WHY RISK IT. ANOTHER DEALER RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND DESCRIBED THE STATUS IN THE PARTS SYSTEM AS THE "CODE FROM '!@#$%". I HAVE BEEN COMMUNICATING DIRECTLY WITH THE MANUFACTURER. MAYBE FORD SHOULD GO BANKRUPT TOO. *TR

MY FREESTYLE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE SURGING / LURCHING WHILE DRIVING BOTH FORWARD OR REVERSE EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED. ON 25 AUG 2009, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH BEACH FORD DEALERSHIP IN VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING. THE MAINTENANCE TEAM TRIED AGAIN AND CONDUCTED A "PIN POINT TEST" AND FOUND OUT THAT THE TB NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED THE PART WHICH IS IN BACK ORDER UNTIL 7 DEC, 2009. *TR
MY 2007 FREESTYLE ACCELERATES WITHOUT WARNING. THIS STARTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. ON SATURDAY AUG 29, MY CAR WOULD NOT START, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY BATTERY NEEDED REPLACEMENT (AGAIN NO WARNING OF A PROBLEM) 3 DAYS LATER 9/2 WHILE BACKING UP, MY CAR SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY ACCELERATED AND JERKED BACKWARDS, I NEARLY HIT A CAR. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A THROTTLE BODY BUT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL DEC. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY CONFIRMED THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THE "ENGINEERS ARE REDESIGNING THE PART AND THE DEC DATE IS ONLY A PROJECTION" I INQUIRED ABOUT THE DEALER GIVING ME A LOANER CAR, WAS TOLD NO, BUT I COULD RENT ONE, I TOOK MY CAR HOME, IN THE 7 MILES THAT I DROVE I HAD 3 UNEXPECTED ACCELERATIONS. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE AND NOW WILL SIT IN THE GARAGE UNTIL WHO KNOWS WHEN. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY FORD TO CORRECT THE IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUE. MY CAR ONLY HAS 44000 MILES, AND HAS HAD ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICES DONE BY THE DEALER AT THE RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS TO 6,000 AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE TO STOP THE ACCELERATION AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE TRANSMISSION AND THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.

ON ABOUT 10 OCCASIONS MY FORD FREESTYLE HAS LUNGED FORWARD OR BACKWARD WHILE IN REVERSE WITHOUT ME ENGAGING THE GAS PEDAL. IT WILL STOP IF THE BRAKE IS APPLIED BUT IT OFTEN CATCHES ME OFF GUARD. ABOUT HALF OF THE TIMES THE CAR THEN CUTS OFF (ONCE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN ONTO A VERY BUSY STREET). THE CAR WILL RESTART BUT OFTEN CUTS OFF ABOUT 2 MORE TIMES BEFORE DECIDING TO RUN CORRECTLY. USUALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH SYMBOL WILL ILLUMINATE. THIS IS A VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. ON ONE OCCASION, AFTER DROPPING OF MY MOTHER AT A STORE I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD COMING QUITE CLOSE TO MY MOM WHO WAS CROSSING IN FRONT OF MY CAR. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO A MECHANIC, THE P061B CODE CAME UP FOR INTERNAL CONTROL MOD TORQUE CALCULATION PERFORMANCE. WHEN WE GOOGLED THIS CODE I WAS SHOCKED AT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE POSTED ON VARIOUS WEBSITES ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME! *KB
I OWN A 2007 FORD FREESTYLE ON THE 13TH OF AUGUST MY CAR STARTED TO LURCH WHILE DRIVING & THEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, DROVE CAR TO REPAIR CENTER MECHANIC CAME OUT AND LOOKED AT THE CAR, MECHANIC HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PUT THE CAR IN GEAR & ENGINE WOULD REV WITH OUT GAS PEDAL BEING TOUCHED & CAR WOULD LURCH, REPAIR SHOP KEPT CAR TO SO THEY COULD HOOK IT UP TO THE COMPUTER & RUN THEIR TEST, NEXT DAY THE CALLED & SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY (PART # IS 5F9Z-9E926-B) & SAID THEY COULD ORDER THE PART EXPEDITED AND HAVE IT IN 1-2 BUSINESS DAYS, THAT WAS THE 14TH OF AUGUST, AFTER THE 18TH THE SERVICE MANAGER STARTED CHECKING ON THE PART TODAY IS THE 24TH AND WE STILL HAVE NO RESPONSE FROM FORD AS TO WHEN PART WILL BE AVAILABLE, AS PART IS ON BACK ORDER, HAVE LOOKED ONLINE & THERE SEAM TO BE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS THROTTLE BODY PART NOT WORKING RIGHT & PEOPLE HAVING WORSE DRIVING EXPERIENCES THEN I HAD. *TR
MY 2007 FORD FREESTYLE WAS DELIVERED IN JANUARY, 2007. IN MARCH 2008, THE TRANSMISSION WENT AND THE DEALER HAD THE FREESTYLE UNTIL THE END OF MAY, 2008. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT "PEOPLE" WERE FLOWN IN FROM "DETROIT." THEN, IN AUGUST, 2009, THE TRANSMISSION WENT ON THE MASS PIKE AT 65 MPH. I CALLED THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT THE NEW TRANSMISSION ONLY HAD 11,000 MILES ON IT. (AS AN ASIDE, NO ONE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD ANY CONTACT WITH WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT IN 2008.) I CALLED FORD. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A "FORD PROBLEM" BECAUSE IT WAS NOT FIXED BY FORD, BUT RATHER BY THE "TRANSMISSION SHOP AROUND THE CORNER." FORD'S PROBLEM HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE THEM AND I CONTINUE TO PAY FOR FORD'S PROBLEM. *TR

BOTH TIMES HAD TO GET NEW PADS AND ROTORS AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY. FIRST TIME THEY DID REPLACE FOR FREE EVEN THOUGH THEY MADE IT CLEAR IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. SECOND TIME REPLACED AND CHARGED ME FOR PARTS ONLY. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS I FOUND IT WAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE FREESTYLE IN 2005. IN FACT I FOUND A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF SERVICE ENGINEERING OPERATIONS SENT TO ALL FORD DEALERS ON JULY 3,2007. THEY WERE BLAMING THE ISSUE ON "DIRECT EXPOSURE TO MOISTURE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE PADS TO "SWELL" AND CREATE SLIGHT DRAG CONDITIONS." OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS FROM OWNERS WHO HAVE REPLACED REAR PADS AND ROTORS SEVERAL TIMES AND NOT YET HAD THE FRONT BRAKES FAIL. SEEMS TO ME TO BE A MECHANICAL PROBLEM THAT FORD DOES NOT WANT TO ADDRESS BY FIXING THE PROBLEM CAUSING THIS ISSUE. *TR

I NOW HAVE 95,000 MILES ON IT AND IT DOES IT DAILY. IT IS WORSE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS HIGHER AND AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS. IT HAS STALLED A COUPLE OF TIMES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AS WELL AS THE WRENCH. TURNING THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR MAKES THE WRENCH GO AWAY BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. THE LIGHT EVENTUALLY GOES OFF WHEN I GET THE CARE BACK TO A LOWER ELEVATION. IT HAS BEEN WORSE WHEN THE CARE IS ABOVE 4000 FEET ELEVATION. I HAVE HAD FORDS ALL MY LIFE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. THEY HAVE DONE RECALLS FOR ITEMS THAT ARE A LOT LESS DANGEROUS THAN THIS. THEY DEFINITELY NEED TO DO A RECALL ASAP OR SOMEONE IS GOING THE BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. *TR

THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY IN PARKING LOT SITUATIONS (BACKING OUT, PULLING IN, TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS) AND DRIVE-THROUGH PLACES, WHERE APPROACHING AND MAINTAINING LOW SPEEDS IS CRITICAL. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE CONDITIONS OR PROBLEM, SO IT HAS GONE UNFIXED. I AM AFRAID THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT WITH THE PROBLEM THIS CAR IS EXPERIENCING BECAUSE APPLYING THE BRAKE DOES NOT SEEM TO HELP AT ALL.

THIS IS THE 2ND TIME MY 2007 FREESTYLE HAS STARTED LUNGING. IT WILL LUNGE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. STARTS OUT WITH SMALL LUNGES BUT THE LUNGES GET BIGGER. TOOK TO DEALER MECHANIC NEXT DAY AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY THROTTLE. REPLACED THE THROTTLE AND NOW I ONCE AGAIN HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. REPLACING THE THROTTLE BOTTLE DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY A/C AND A BROKEN ENGINE MOUNT. NOT TRUSTING THE FORD DEALER MECHANIC, I TOOK IT TO A THIRD PARTY. THE PARTS ALONE WERE $1000.00 BECAUSE THEY COULD GET THEM FROM FORD ONLY. TOTAL COST TO REPLACE COMPRESSOR AND FIX ENGINE MOUNT $2200. YOU CAN'T DRIVE IN THE HOT ARIZONA SUMMERS WITHOUT AC. THE LUNGING SEEMS TO GET WORSE WITH THE AC ON AND WHEN TURNING THE WHEELS. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE IN 2009 AND THIS ONE HAPPENED WHILE STARTING TO BACK OUT OF PARKING SPOT. HAD AC ON AND CRAMPED WHEELS TO BACK OUT. AS I EASED BY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE CAR JUST SHOT BACK ALMOST HITTING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. SLAMMED ON BRAKES, CAR STILL TRIED TO BACK UP THEN STALLED. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXHIBIT PROBLEM, NOT ONLY WHEN MOVING FORWARD, BUT ALSO WHEN VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE. IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED SEVERAL TIMES AT A CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP, WITH NO OBVIOUS DEFECTS DETECTED.
