I WAS DRIVING ON A EAST ON A COUNTRY ROAD IN THE MORNING AND THE SUN WAS IN MY EYES. I PUSHED THE VISOR UP AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD AND IT WOULD NOT STAY IN PLACE AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD. IT RETURNED TO THE VERTICAL POSITION, WHERE IT MOST OBSTRUCTS VISIBILITY. BECAUSE OF THE POSITION OF THE VISOR, I DID NOT SEE A DEER UP AHEAD TILL THE LAST MINUTE, HAD TO BRAKE HARD, AND CAME VERY CLOSE TO HITTING THE DEER. THESE DEFECTIVE VISORS MAKE DRIVING EXTREMELY UNSAFE. I EITHER HAVE THE SUN IN MY EYES, OR I HAVE THE VISOR SEVERELY OBSTRUCTING MY VISIBILITY.
THE DASH PANEL ON MY 2007 FUSION SUDDENLY LIT UP - OIL LIGHT, AIR BAG LIGHT, ETC. - AND AFTER STOPPING THE CAR IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE BATTERY CABLES (ESPECIALLY THE POSITIVE ONE) WERE HIGHLY CORRODED. AFTER REMOVING THE CORROSION AND REPLACING THE BATTERY IT STARTED. FIVE WEEKS LATER IT FAILED TO START AGAIN. BOTH TIMES THE RADIO AND LIGHTS WORKED BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I TRIED JUMPING IT OFF, BUT IT DID NOT EVEN TRY TO TURN OVER. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE BATTERY CABLES AND 20 FEET OF CABLE WIRE WERE COMPLETELY CORRODED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS FEWER THAN 48,000 MILES ON IT. I DO NOT LIVE IN A HIGH SALT AREA EITHER. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY EITHER. I BELIEVE THAT SUBSTANDARD EQUIPMENT WAS USED AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A NOTICE SENT OUT TO OTHER FUSION OWNERS TO TAKE ANY PRECAUTIONARY STEPS TO AVOID THIS ' IF THERE ARE ANY. ULTIMATELY, I THINK FORD SHOULD COVER THIS REPAIR. IT IS CLEARLY DUE TO SHODDY CABLES AND WIRING. *TR
I HAVE AN 07 FORD FUSION, I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND BOUGHT THE CAR WITH ZERO MILES IN 06. RECENTLY MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND I NOTICED THAT THE RPM'S GO UP SO HIGH THEN YOU FEEL LIKE AN IMPACT WHICH IS WHEN THE CAR CHANGES GEARS. I ALMOST GOT REAR-ENDED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I HAVE NOTICED THAT MANY FORD OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND THEY SAY MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEIR IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I ALSO THINK THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSING MY BACK TO HURT I NOTICED THAT AFTER THIS OCCURS WITH MY CAR I GET PAIN IN MY BACK LIKE IF IT WAS WHIP LASH. *TR
FROM 42,000 TO 45,000 MILES, OVER 3 MONTH PERIOD, CREAKING, SQUEAKING SUSPENSION SOUNDS AT LOW SPEED HAVE BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE TO THE POINT IT IS INCREDIBLY LOUD, DISTRACTING AND ANNOYING. EXAMINATION BY MECHANICS YIELDS NO EXPLANATION. THIS SERIOUSLY AFFECTS THE RESALE VALUE. I WOULDN'T BUY IT, SOUNDING LIKE THIS, AND SO FAR UNABLE TO REPAIR IT. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE/HELP OFFERED.
2007 FORD FUSION SEL AWD; HOOD LATCH REPEATEDLY RELEASES, SOMETIMES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES WHILE CAR IS PARKED AND WHEN RETURNING TO A LOCKED VEHICLE NOTICE THE HOOD IS "POPPED" AND ONLY SAFETY LATCH IS HOOKED. I AM SOMEWHAT FEARFUL THAT AT SOME POINT THE SECONDARY LATCH MIGHT FAIL AT SPEED AND CAUSE INJURY OR FATALITY. *LN
I PARKED MY 2007 FORD FUSION AT MY HOUSE AND I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE MY KEY FROM THE IGNITION. MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT LOCK. I MADE SURE THAT MY CAR WAS IN PARK, AND STILL MY KEY WOULD NOT COME PUT OF THE IGNITION. MY BOYFRIEND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY, AND TRIED TO TURN THE KEY BACKWARDS AND THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY THE KEY COULD COME OUT. WE REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, AND THE IGNITION SWITCH SENSOR AND IT STILL NOT WORKING. I WOULD LIKE FOR THIS TO BE REPORTED AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPRING WAS BROKEN ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL, CAUSING THE HOOK TO FALL DOWN. WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WOULD NEED TO TURN THE LATCH UPWARD IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE LATCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXHIBITED AN UNUSUAL NOISE AND THEN KICKED INTO GEAR, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK INTO GEAR AND THE POWER TRAIN WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL VALVE BODY HAD WORN OUT AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO HAVE AN AUTHORIZED DEALER REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON JULY 2016 FOR A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 16S26/NHTSA RECALL 16V-384 - 2007 FORD FUSION. PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR MAY RUPTURE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH NECESSITATING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. A RUPTURED INFLATOR MAY RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING VEHICLE OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. FORD MOTOR CO. MENTIONED IN THE LETTER THAT WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME VIA MAIL TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH MY DEALER TO HAVE THE PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE (PARTS AND LABOR). COVERAGE IS AUTOMATICALLY TRANSFERRED TO SUBSEQUENT OWNERS. AS OF 9/16/17, FORD HAS NOT RESPONDED TO ME VIA MAIL IN A TIMELY MANNER. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THIS LETTER TO INFORM ME THAT THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND I CAN CONTACT THE DEALER TO REPAIR MY PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG ON MY FORD 2007 FUSION. FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND/OR TAKATA ARE ON NOTICE AND ARE LIABLE IF THERE ARE ANY INJURIES TO ANY DRIVERS OR PASSENGERS IN THIS CAR. I NEED TO HAVE THIS RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS AND HAS BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO ME AND MY FAMILY DUE TO FORD/TAKATA'S NEGLIGENCE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO BE DRIVING ARE CAR THAT IS DANGEROUS FOR ALL. ON OCTOBER 1, 2010 I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 FORD FUSION THAT I BOUGHT NEW IN NOVEMBER 2007. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND TRIED TO TAKE OFF THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. FROM THEN ON THE THESE LIGHTS ALWAYS APPEAR WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THE MESSAGING CENTER READS "ODOMETER DATA ERROR" AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS NO LONG FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE CAR DO NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. THE RPM WAS VERY HIGH EVERY TIME THAT THE CAR TRY TO CHANGE GEARS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WERE I PURCHASED IT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD STALE WHEN TAKEN OFF AND SOMETIMES IT WOULD JUST SHUT DOWN. EVERY TIME I TOOK IT BACK I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WEREN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR AND THE MAIN WIRE COMPONENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
INSIDE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE BROKE, CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. CAR HASN'T BEEN FIXED AS OF YET. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SWERVED INTO ANOTHER LANE. THE BRAKES LOCKED WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPIN UNCONTROLLABLY. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN AND ACCELERATED UP AN EMBANKMENT AND INTO A DIRT MOUND. THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO SECURE THE CONTACT AND CAUSED HER TO FORCEFULLY STRIKE THE WINDSHIELD AREA. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED EYE, NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,096.
I HAVE JUST SPENT $230 TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKE DISKS REPLACED ON MY 2007 FORD FUSION. THEY WERE SO PITTED FROM CORROSION THAT THEY MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THEY MIGHT EVEN HAVE BEEN A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ALL I KNOW. THE FRONT ONES WERE REPLACED A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2007 FOR THE SAME REASON. THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN A MERE 20,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT THE FRONT DISKS WILL PROBABLY NEED REPLACEMENT AGAIN IN A YEAR OR TWO. FURTHER, HE TELLS ME THAT IT DIDN'T MATTER THAT THE WARRANTY PERIOD WAS PAST ( BY A COUPLE OF MONTHS), BECAUSE THIS IS CONSIDERED A "WEAR" PROBLEM AND, THEREFORE, NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. IS MY EXPERIENCE UNIQUE AMONG FUSION OWNERS? I BET NOT. CLEARLY, FORD HAS DROPPED THE BALL ON ITS BRAKE DISK MATERIALS SPECIFICATION. I WILL CERTAINLY LOOK AT OTHER BRANDS BEFORE I EVEN CONSIDER BUYING ANOTHER FORD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT ALLOW HER SEE BEYOND TEN FEET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING NORMALLY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 4,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOLT FRACTURED AS A RESULT THE PULLEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON TWO OCCASIONS BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FRONT HE ENGINE. THE DEALER STATED THE REPLACED THE IDLER TENSIONS PULLEY. HOWEVER, HE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER, WHO INFORMED HIM, THE PROBLEM WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN, BECAUSE THE BOLTS THAT HELD THE PULLEY IN PLACE, WERE TOO SMALL IN DIAMETER AND WOULD BREAK AT SOME POINT. AS THE CONSUMER WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, HE HEARD A NOISE THEN LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. UPDATED 11/10/13
TOOK 2007 FORD FUSION IN UNDER WARRANTY THREE TIMES STATING IT WAS SHIFTING HARD, RPMS WERE HIGH AND THAT FELT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER BEING DISMISSED EACH TIME THE WARRANTY LAPSED AND THE CAR LOST THE TRANSMISSION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. AS THIS WAS A REPORTED PROBLEM ON MY SERVICE RECORDS, TRIED TO GET FORD TO COVER THEIR PRODUCT AND SHOW CUSTOMER LOYALTY WITH NO AVAIL. LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY WHEN THE CAR HAD NO ACCELERATION OR POWER BEHIND IT. STARTED TAKING VEHICLE IN JUNE 2009, THEN DEC 2009 AND LASTLY IN FEB 2010. AFTER BEING DISMISSED 3 TIMES I CONTINUED NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS SINCE THE CAR WAS DEEMED TO BE "NORMAL" NOW IT DOES NOT HAVE 2ND OR 4TH GEAR. *TR
IN FEB 2008 I BOUGHT A NEW 2007 FORD FUSION. THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS WITH MICHELIN TIRES (225/50R17). THREE OF THE FOUR TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED BUBBLES AND HAD TO BE REPLACED WITHIN THE PAST YEAR. THE FIRST WAS JULY 19, 2009, THE SECOND WAS JULY 2, 2010 AND THE THIRD WAS AUGUST 4, 2010. I CONTACTED MICHELIN WHO GAVE ME THE RUN-AROUND BUT NO SOLUTION. I TOOK THE LAST TIRE TO A MICHELIN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT MICHELIN WOULDN'T GIVE ME ANYTHING BECAUSE AN AUTHORIZED DEALER DIDN'T REPLACE THE TIRE. HOW CAN I GO AROUND FINDING A PARTICULAR DEALER WHEN I'M SETTING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH A FLAT TIRE? I WENT TO THE FIRST PLACE I FOUND WHO COULD REPLACE THE TIRE. EACH TIME I WAS OUT OF TOWN WHEN THE FAILURE HAPPENED, THE FIRST TWO TIMES I WAS EVER OUT OF STATE SO IT'S NOT LIKE BEING AT HOME WHERE YOU CAN LOOK IN THE YELLOW PAGES OR SURF THE NET AND FIND AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER THAT I CONTACTED AFTER THE 3RD FAILURE SAID IT WAS DUE TO IMPACT FROM POTHOLES. DUH! IT'S SUMMERTIME. POTHOLES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. I FEEL THAT MICHELIN (AND REPRESENTATIVES) HAVE FAILED ME AS A CONSUMER. THEY CLAIM TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY DO - STAND BEHIND BECAUSE THEY SURE DON'T STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND HANDLE THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT I HAD 4 DEFECTIVE TIRES EITHER MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT OR DRY ROT OR SOMETHING. I HAVE NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF DRIVING (40+ YRS) HAVE I REPLACED A TIRE FOR A BUBBLE IN IT AND NOW 3 IN LESS THAN A YEAR????? NO MORE MICHELIN FOR ME. *TR
THE POWER BOOSTER IN MY 2007 FORD FUSION FAILED AFTER ONLY A FEW MONTHS OF THE BRAKES FEELING "OFF" AT RARE, RANDOM TIMES. IT WENT OUT, RENDERING MY BRAKES USELESS OVER 55 MPH AND CAUSED ME TO REAR END SOMEONE BECAUSE THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR. *TR
THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT STAY SNUG AGAINST THE HIPS DUE TO THE LACK OF A MANUAL ADJUSTMENT. NO MATER HOW MANY TIMES I TRY TO MAKE IT SNUG, IT WORKS ITS WAY UP TOWARD THE BELLY. IT ALSO DOES NOT HOLD ME IN PLACE IN THE SET DURING SUDDEN MANEUVERS AS A MANUALLY ADJUSTABLE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WOULD. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING FROM CANYON TO NORRIS IN YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, I ATTEMPTED TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE MANUALLY WHILE CLIMBING A STEEP HILL, BUT FOUND IT IMPOSSIBLE. THE DESIRED SPEED WAS 45, WHICH IS THE MAXIMUM SPEED IN YELLOWSTONE. THE THROTTLE HAS A DELAY OF ABOUT ONE SECOND, SO IT IS CONTINUALLY 1 SECOND BEHIND THE COMMANDS OF THE DRIVER. THE RESULT IS THAT THE VEHICLE ALWAYS OVERSHOOTS THE SPEED BECAUSE THE DRIVER FIRST EXPECTS A RESPONSE FROM THE VEHICLE, BUT GETS NONE AND CONTINUES TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FARTHER DOWN. WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHES THE DESIRED SPEED, THE DRIVER LETS UP ON THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE ACCORDING TO THE COMMAND 1 SECOND AGO. THE DRIVER THEN CONTINUES TO LET UP ON THE PEDAL BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET RESPONDED TO THE COMMAND TO REDUCE RPM. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS UP WHEN THE DRIVER LETS OFF THE ACCELERATOR. THE VEHICLE THEN UNDERSHOOTS THE DESIRED SPEED AND THE DRIVER PUSHES THE ACCELERATOR DOWN AGAIN. THE VEHICLE AGAIN DELAYS ITS RESPONSE AND THE TRANSMISSION ADDS AN ADDITIONAL DELAY OF ABOUT 2 SECONDS. THE NEXT OVERSHOOT IS WORSE. THIS OSCILLATION CONTINUES UNTIL THE DRIVER GETS FRUSTRATED AND SETS THE SPEED CONTROL. THE SPEED CONTROL STILL FAILS TO MAINTAIN SPEED WHEN THE GRADE CHANGES RAPIDLY, BUT THE SLOW DOWN IS MUCH LESS AND IT RECOVERS IN A COUPLE SECONDS AND MAINTAINS SPEED THE REST OF THE WAY UP THE HILL. THE DRIVER THEN HAS TO RIDE THE BRAKES ON THE WAY DOWN THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HILL IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN SPEED, WHICH RELEASES THE SPEED CONTROL. THE DRIVER THEN HAS TO SET THE SPEED CONTROL WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHES THE LEVEL AGAIN. IF THE DRIVER LETS THE VEHICLE CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE DOWN THE HILL, THE TRANSMISSION WILL EVENTUALLY DOWNSHIFT AT ABOUT 48 MILES PER HOUR, BUT CONTINUES TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE. CONTINUALLY TRYING TO CORRECT FOR THE LACK OF CONTROL OF SPEED RESULTS IN AN EXCESSIVE DISTRACTION AND CONTINUALLY TAKES THE EYES OF THE DRIVER OFF THE ROAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF MOISTURE INSIDE OF THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE INNER CASING TO STAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A RARE OCCURRENCE AND SHE SHOULD REMOVE THE LIGHT TO CLEAN ANY MOISTURE FROM THE CASING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE AND CLEAN THE CASING BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 55,000.
OUR 20 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING HOME FROM COLLEGE WHEN HIS LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. HE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE RIM WAS DAMAGED IN THE PROCESS. AFTER ORDERING A NEW RIM AND WHEEL, I WAS GOING TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN WE NOTICED THAT THE LEFT REAR TIRE WAS NOW FLAT. ONCE WE WERE ABLE TO GET ENOUGH AIR IN IT TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WE DID. AT THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ALL THE VALVE STEMS WERE EITHER CRACKED OR LEAKING, SO THEY ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED. WE WERE UNAWARE THAT THE 2007 FORDS HAD FAULTY VALVE STEMS, HAD WE KNOWN THIS, WE WOULD HAVE REPLACED THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERNS. WE WERE LUCKY, ONLY ONE VALVE STEM BROKE WHILE OUR SON WAS DRIVING AND HE MAINTAINED CONTROL, THE 2ND VALVE STEM LOST AIR WHILE PARKED IN OUR DRIVE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE AND I SHUDDER TO THINK OF WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED. *TR

THE DOOR OPENING MECHINISIM HAS BROKEN MULTIPLE TIMES (3 TO DATE) IN WHICH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS IF AN ACCIDENT DID INCUR THE DRIVER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THIS CAR IS 7 YEARS OLD WITH 125K MILES AND IT HAS BROKEN 3 TIMES. ON APPROXIMATELY MAY 12, 2010 AS I PARKED MY 2007 FORD FUSION IN PARKING LOT OF CONVENIENT STORE I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE MY KEY FROM THE IGNITION. I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT LOCK. I RETURNED HOME AND MY HUSBAND MADE SURE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND STILL THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN ALL THE WAY BACK SO THAT THE WHEEL COULD LOCK AND KEY COULD BE REMOVED. I CALLED A LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY REPORTS OF THE FUSION BUT DID HAVE REPORTS ABOUT ANOTHER MODEL. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS REPORTED BECAUSE THIS CAN BE COSTLY. UNABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. SHIFT LEVER BUTTON WILL NOT FULLY EXTEND TO ALLOW THE SELECTOR TO GO INTO PROPER POSITION SO THAT THE KEY CAN BE MOVED. I HAVE PUSHED AND LET IT SNAP BACK OUT AND HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT OUT ONCE OR TWICE BUT NOW STAYS IN MOST OF THE TIME. THIS HAS JUST STARTED ON THIS 2007 FUSION WITH IN LAST 7 DAYS. *TR
WHEN BACKING UP HILL INTO A PARKING SPOT, THE CAR DOES NOT OBEY THE COMMANDS OF THE DRIVER. SINCE THERE IS AN EXCESSIVE DELAY IN THE THROTTLE, I END UP RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR COMPLETELY WHEN I NEED TO SLOW DOWN BECAUSE THE CAR DOES NOT SLOW DOWN RIGHT AWAY. THE CAR THEN GOES INTO A "HOLD" MODE WHERE IT PREVENTS THE CAR FROM ROLLING FORWARD. ONCE IT IS IN THAT MODE, IT DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL UNTIL ABOUT ONE SECOND AFTER THE PEDAL HAS REACHED A LEVEL WHERE THE RPM OF THE ENGINE WOULD INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY BEYOND THE HOLDING RPM. DUE TO THE DELAY AND LACK OF RESPONSE DURING THE FIRST PART OF THE PEDAL TRAVEL, THE ACCELERATOR IS DOWN TOO FAR WHEN THE CAR FINALLY RELEASES THE "HOLD" ON THE THROTTLE AND THE CAR GOES BACKWARD AT A MUCH HIGHER RATE OF SPEED THAN DESIRED. THE ONLY WAY I CAN BACK UP HILL SAFELY IS TO APPLY THE BRAKES FULLY WITH MY LEFT FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, REV THE ENGINE UP WITH MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE BY PARTIALLY RELEASING BRAKE PEDAL WITH MY LEFT FOOT WHILE HOLDING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STEADY WITH MY RIGHT FOOT. THE BRAKES DON'T HAVE A DELAY TO THEM. THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 FORD FUSION SE 3.0 LITER V6 WITH 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *TR

HOWEVER, THE INCIDENT YESTERDAY WAS QUITE EVIDENT WITHOUT ANY OTHER OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. I HAD BEEN DRIVING IN OUR RURAL AREA USING THE CRUISE CONTROL OF OUR FUSION. I TAPPED ON THE BRAKE TO DISENGAGE THE CONTROL, AND SLOWED TO A STOP SIGN. AFTER TRAFFIC CLEARED I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO CROSS THE INTERSECTION. AS I STARTED TO MOVE, THE PEDAL DROPPED NOTICEABLY FROM THE SOLE OF MY SHOE AND THE FUSION IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED AT A RATE GREATER THAN MY DESIRE AND NOT UNDER MY CONTROL. WHEN TRAVELING AT ABOUT 35 MPH WITH A FORD FUSION SE, V6 AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, THE ENGINE STALLS ON HARD BRAKING, REQUIRING THE VEHICLE TO BE BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, SHIFTED TO PARK AND RESTARTED. SINCE I WAS MAKING A LANE CHANGE BEFORE I REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE HAD STALLED, I WAS ACROSS BOTH LANES WHILE I WAS IN PARK STARTING THE ENGINE. THIS COULD HAVE LEAD TO ACCIDENT, EITHER BY NOT HAVING POWER TO MANEUVER OR ANOTHER CAR COULD HAVE HIT MY VEHICLE WHILE IT BLOCKED BOTH LANES. THE AIR TEMPERATURE WAS JUST BELOW 10 DEGREES, BUT THE ENGINE WAS WARM. ON RESTART, THE ENGINE IDLED AT 1500 RPM, WHICH MAKES STOPPING THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT SINCE THE ENGINE FIGHTS THE BRAKES. *TR
I DRIVE A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CAR IS A "BEAST" TO HANDLE ON ROADS THAT HAVE ICY RUTS. I LIVE IN MINNESOTA AND THIS HAS BEEN A TERRIBLE YEAR FOR ICE. WE OWN A 2007 FORD FUSION WITH APXM. 40 K MILES. IT WAS SOLD WITH MICHELIN TIRES THAT I BELIEVE TO BE DEFECTED AND DANGEROUS. WE HAVE JUST REPLACE THE THIRD OUT OF FOUR TIRES. THE SEAT DOES NOT SUPPORT THE BACK BETWEEN THE HIPS AND THE SHOULDER BLADES UNLESS RECLINED, WHICH IS NOT A DESIRABLE DRIVING POSITION. THE ADJUSTABLE LUMBAR SUPPORT PUSHES ON THE TOP AND MIDDLE OF THE PELVIS AND RESULTS IN PINCHED NERVES IN THE BACK. THE SEAT CUSHION HAS VERY HARD, RAISED SIDES, THE ROOF OF THE CAR IS LOW AND CURVED DOWN ON THE SIDES, THE CAR IS LOW TO THE GROUND AND THE SEAT IS WELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE END RESULT IS THAT IF I AM TRYING TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE AND MY HIP HITS THE SIDE OF THE SEAT INSTEAD OF THE SOFT PART IN THE MIDDLE, I PULL MUSCLES IN MY SIDE. THE ASSIST HANDLE IS NO ASSISTANCE AND IT IS ACTUALLY A HAZARD IN A ROLLOVER SINCE IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES. EITHER IN 2008 OR 2009, SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING A BRAND NEW 2007 FORD FUSION, I WAS GREETED WITH THE FIRST MAJOR ISSUE OF MY BRAKES GOING OUT ON ME WHILE DRIVING. FIND OUT THIS WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDER. THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON WITHIN 3-4 YEARS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE, AND WAS FOUND TO BE RELATED TO THE THERMOSTAT, THE ENGINE WOULD ALWAYS RUN TOWARDS THE COOL END, NEVER GOING ABOVE 1/3 OF THE WAY TO THE HALFWAY MARK. THAT WAS FIXED AFTER YEARS OF FAILED ATTEMPT. AND ALL THE WHILE, I NEVER HAD A FUNCTIONING AIR CONDITION UNIT AND WOULD HAVE TO REPAIR YEARLY, AND THEN FOUND TO BE RELATED THE CAR ALWAYS RUNNING TOO COOL. OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE GASKET TWICE, BECAUSE OIL WOULD APPEAR IN PLACES IT SHOULD NOT (I ALWAYS MAINTAIN MY CAR BY DOING THE OIL CHANGES, ETC ON TIME). THIS PAST SUNDAY, I WAS DRIVING AND GOING AROUND 70 MPH WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE TO 65, THEN 60, THEN WOULD NOT GO PAST 40 SO I PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE AND DROVE BACK HOME. OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS I SMELLED BURNT OIL, AND THE SAME ISSUE WITH OIL BEING WHERE IT SHOULD BE HAPPENED AGAIN. MECHANIC IS TELLING ME IT IS DONE, AND AFTER RESEARCHING, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING UNIQUE TO JUST MY CAR. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED MANY HORRIFYING STORES ON THE SAME ISSUE, WITH SOME PEOPLE'S FUSIONS COMBUSTING AND STALLING THEM ON THE HIGHWAY. I DID NOTIFY THE FORD COMPANY TODAY OF ALL THE SAFETY ISSUES AND OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO MY CAR, JUST SO THEY HAVE IT DOCUMENTED ON THEIR END AS WELL. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED FREQUENTLY TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FAILURE BUT THE FAILURE WOULD STILL OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY TO THREE OUT OF THE FOUR ORIGINAL TIRES. EACH TIME THE FAILED TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A TIRE OF A DIFFERENT MAKE. ONLY THE CONTINENTAL TIRES EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 26,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,500.
INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ARE MADE OF PLASTIC. AND THEREFORE THEY BREAK. I HAVE HAD THREE REPLACED AT 250.00 PER REPLACEMENT. WHEN A CAR COST 30,000 DOLLARS, AND IT IS MADE OF PLASTIC ON THE PARTS THAT ARE USED MOST OFTEN, AND A PAINT THAT IS PEALING. THE CLEAR COAT IS FLAKING OFF AND MAKE A CARE LOOK UNKEPT. NOT SURE I WILL EVER BUY ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT. MY HUSBAND HAS A 150 TRUCK 2008 AND I TIT IS HOLDING UP FINE.
WHEN DRIVING UP A STEEP HILL AND ROUNDING A CORNER, THE SPEED LIMIT DROPPED FROM 55 TO 45MPH. I TAPPED THE BRAKE TO DISENGAGE THE CURSE CONTROL AND ATTEMPTED TO CONTROL THE SPEED MANUALLY. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO DO 45. IT OSCILLATED BETWEEN 50 AND 40MPH. I FINALLY HIT THE SET BUTTON ON THE CRUISE CONTROL AS THE SPEEDOMETER PASSED 40M. THE DISTRACTION OF TRYING TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT SINCE I WAS NOT ABLE TO DEVOTE MY FULL ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AHEAD OF ME. THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 FORD FUSION SE, V6 WITH 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT CAUGHT FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH CREAKING AND CLUNKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END, MOSTLY HEARD WHEN PARALLEL PARKING. I BROUGHT IT TO FETTE FORD AND THE FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH NO ARGUMENT. I WOULD CHECK AGAIN, TRY TALKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. TELL HIM THAT THEY ALREADY FIXED BLUE 07 FUSION SE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO GOT A FREE LOANER CAR, IT TOOK 3 DAYS TO FIX.
